Good to see all your faces. Plenty of car discussion and

plenty of car things that we've got that we've got to catch up on. Plenty of car related topics on

the weekend and and activities that happened.

Let's crack on with some car updates.

Scotty Doe updates with you my friend.

What's happening in your world? Oh, I get to start.

So I'm I'm gonna put you, I'm gonna put you in there.

Well, you know, for once I I do have an update.

So on Saturday I thought, you know, I'll go around to the Skyline, see how it's going and just do a little, just do a little service. So go over there.

It's pretty easy to service that car.

You can see where the oil philtre is easy to get to.

So take that off. Jeez.

It was hard to take off though. I must have been muscley when I

put it on. You can't blame some mechanic,

it was you. Yeah, I did a hand tight, but

bloody hell, but got that off and, you know, cleaned all up nice and neat. And I thought, oh, you know

what, might as well have a go at putting the the adapter in ready for the for the gauge, the water tank gauge.

So okay, I'll give that a go. It's going to be messy, but I'll

have a look. And I just let all the coolant

pour out on the concrete. That's fine.

See. Mom and dads, please.

Exactly. What's the mother?

The oil I looked after I made sure was fine.

Mum's trying to back out the driveway.

Yeah, wheels. Should have bought a Subaru

just. Just let it go.

Just let it pour out everywhere. Yeah, got that in there.

Looks like it's fairly tight. Doesn't look like it's going to

to leak or anything. So that's on there and that's

hanging on there ready to go. And I thought, you know what,

since I've already done this and I've got the new, the new fan, the clutch fan. Oh, I may as well take out the

radiator while I'm at it. It's already taking the top hose

off. I may as well do the bottom

hose. So go underneath.

It's not too tricky, a little bit fiddly to get it to lift out because it's got the plastic, the plastic shroud as well.

That's probably the annoying bit.

It keeps catching on that. But I wiggled and wiggled and

wiggled and I got that one out. And then that's just when it

poured out even more coolant everywhere splashed it.

I was like, eh, Oh well. And then?

What did what did Scottie's mum's car do?

Yes, all I wanted to do was go down the shops.

I was in the driveway for 5 minutes.

I couldn't understand that the car was in after reverse.

I wasn't moving. God, what do you know about

that? Well, nothing.

Mum wasn't me. It's all this elk.

Yeah, with the driveway. It must be that eco life from

the local plant. Just blame it on my brother's

car because he's just parked next to it.

Yeah. He's must have a leak or

something, yeah. It must have a leak.

Yeah, car. It's a Toyota.

Outrageous and. Yeah, remove the radio.

I thought, OK, I can kind of, it's pretty tight.

I mean you almost got to remove the stupid air con condenser one at the front, but I thought there's no way in hell I'm going to do that. And I thought, I was thinking,

Oh my God, these bolts are probably like, you know, they've been on the car since 89, so they're probably not going to come off. But no, it was alright.

The little ratchet in there got it in there.

It was kind of just like little 10 mil bolts, four of them and I got them off, but obviously everything I had to do by feel, there was no sight. So that made it really hard.

Got that off and then trying to line up the new one there was some choice words that. 1. Because each time you kind of

get it lined up and you think that ah, Yep, good.

But you just knock it a little bit goes and just slides.

So just kept doing that. That was a pain in the butt, you

know, but got it in there and did it all up and then did the whole annoying stage. I hate this part when you pour

it all in, all your coolant and stuff and.

And then look, there's probably still air in the system.

I had it going for a good 20 minutes or more running through and, you know, yeah. And I reckon it was about 15

minutes and I thought it's got to be soon and I gave it a few good Revs and then there's some more big bubbles went through and. My God.

Well, hurry, I thought it was near the end.

There's like just infinite bubbles in this bloody system.

Yeah, it's probably still got some more in there, but obviously those bubbles will go and you just keep topping up a little bit. But yeah, that's all done and

seems to be nice and fresh and happy for now I I think.

We've. Got a look for a celebratory lap

No. No major modifications from now.

Yeah, Scotty, Yes, so. I've got this turbo kit right?

I know no. No, nothing like that, no.

You gotta. You gotta bring it over to my

place and, or, or cause 'cause now, now that's in there, you can, you can probably bring it around.

We can, we can just wire it up as soon as as soon as it's ready and you know you'll have a gauge that's working in all happy days. Yeah, that way I can kind of

monitor it a bit better. Yeah, absolutely.

And what else is it going to say?

Yeah, it should be. Should be fine for sucker a

picnic. I think the only thing that's

left for it to do is probably timing belt.

Yeah. And I think some of those

pulleys there, you can kind of hear the bearings.

They're a bit loud. So you know that, yeah.

I'll be 30 sounds I'll. Be 30 sounds, yeah, that's.

Yeah, they're just the bearings in there, but other than that it runs fine. Yeah, just doesn't like sharp,

sharp Revs. So if I sit there, you know,

with the throttle under the bonnet and I quickly flick it.

Yeah. It almost stalls out every time,

so. But if you do it nice and

gentle, it's fine. And when I drive it, it doesn't

do it. So yeah, guess I want to look at

that maybe, I don't know. Yeah, I mean, when you do Tommy

belt, you'll you'll get your bearings done anyway and stuff because they're taking the whole front accessory Dr off.

So they'll be like, Oh yeah, this bearing's a bit how you going? So we'll just change those.

It's what I've done. Reminds me.

I don't want to do that stuff. That that just reminds you like

when you've got little kids and they say, Dad, when, when I do this, it hurts and you just say, well, don't do that, duh.

Just Rev it gently. It's it's gonna be fine.

Yeah, I don't need to sit down and stab at the throttle non stop. Well, you don't usually do that

in driving anyway, do anyway. Yeah, it's not, not.

The no, no, it's just I, I, I guess it's just not measuring the air properly so it goes to stall out.

It's also when when you flip, you're leaving.

The throttle sat fast. Yeah.

Well, so when you're flicking, really flicking really quickly, it it that doesn't really represent throttle, throttle pressure cause cause throttles that never open that quick like yeah. So like there'll there'll be a

little bit of a gap, you know, whereas if it's like a quick flick like that, it's yeah, it the car's not used.

So it's by getting way more air. It's like, oh, hang on a minute.

And then it adjusts. So yeah, I think I think it'd be

fine just. But yeah, definitely get the

talking about water pump done and then you should be, should be happy days, happy bettering. Be so sweet.

But First things first on the on the holidays, I'm going to get that CV boot done on the blade. So that's that'll be the next

thing. I've already got the CV boots.

They arrived. Yeah, because there's two

there's. Inner in an LA.

Well, I. Bought 2 inners and they're two

characterizers. They're only like 20 something

bucks each. I thought good, didn't say which

side. I thought who cares?

Yeah I'll just give them those and goes.

It's one of those ones and they can figure it out and put it on for me. Accept.

And then do a wheel alignment and then that'll be happy days with that cartoon. Absolutely.

And then they're my plans and everything.

Updates with me, not a lot I've I think I mentioned last week the Civics decided to let wheel cylinder rear wheel cylinder go.

So I've spoken to a mechanic nearby who's happy to do it for me. In good time.

In in in a good time. Meaning, and so I have Total

Care with RACV. So I thought, well, actually

they'll probably just tow it up there.

I don't even have to try and drive it on the on the handbrake. So yeah, sure enough, I can get

that done. But they did say to me today,

it's actually changing at the end of when you renew you.

So mine renews at the end of April, I think.

She said it actually won't apply to every car you're driving it.

It will only apply to cars that you're registered like like that are registered on your total Care account.

So they're going to have plenty of spaces.

I'm just saying. How many?

How many can you have on your Total Care account?

I didn't, didn't think I've asked, I didn't ask that I was a bit flumlished when she I was just trying to, she said, oh, no, this one's completely fine. You know, because this one's

actually the log book I think is in Mitch's name, in my son's name. But but Total Care has owned.

It doesn't matter what the car is, if you're, if you're in charge of it or or with it, then yeah, you can.

You can get it sorted. But.

What's the point of total care then?

Exactly right, because I don't know if you guys have cars with RACV classic and historic, but you actually as part of your premium, you get roadside assistance.

OK, that's pretty good. So.

Just regular, not. It's actually the middle 1, so

extra care, I think, but I think there's 3 levels.

There's the basic one, there's extra care and there's total care. But yeah, I'll certainly be

looking into that because I you're completely correct.

It's not going to be worth having total care if you can't can't get on every car you're driving.

Yeah, that's the whole point. Yeah, anyway, so we'll, we'll,

we'll follow that went to highball on Sunday, the busy weekend Sunday. There was a lot on Sunday, so

you had to pick and choose a bit.

There was the Ripley Concourse, there was an event in Mont Albert, a new 1A motor motors, motors, something popped up and there are another couple that I've heard heard about since.

So yeah, it's a busy time time. The weather's perfect.

I mean, the weather on Sunday was magnificent for Eyeball and just a spectacular turn out the cars and people.

They've got the catering sorted out, they've got, you know, decent amount of coffee caravans standing in line for an hour for coffee. And as I said before, I think

it's a stroke of genius actually, the charity that they sponsor now, pretty, I think they've done it for the last three or four now is police, police Legacy.

So, yeah, there there's a good police turn out and everyone seems to behave themselves pretty well.

As I drove out though, you drove drive past the front of the front of Centre Rd where the, where the main, main sort of grass area is. And I turn left to head up West

Hill Rd, up to Dandenong Rd. Oh, there would have been a good

couple of 100 people standing on that grass verge on the on in the middle and, and on the side. It's it's pretty crazy now it's

got huge following and last Sunday's theme was blue cars.

So someone amongst us did take a blue car and wasn't early enough to actually get on the blue car parking area.

So you joined a long and distinguished list of people.

There were a lot of blue cars that were too late in the regular area sort of thing. But you know, that was good.

Went to went to another car function on Sunday afternoon.

But someone else will tell us to us about that.

I was thinking, oh, what was that one?

I don't know. Yeah.

We'll talk about that very shortly and.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And.

Oh, finally, finally finished a a big job that's been sitting in my garage. I've actually I've had two two

big jobs on where I've had interiors of cars in the garage jamming me in and not being able to swing a proverbial cat in.

I had a leather interior from Mike Hayden, who's getting his car ready for all four day next, which is Sunday week now.

And also I had had the interior of a scam for my son Mitch, who's restoring 1. So that was, there's a bit of

pressure on that because this thing's had a bare metal restoration and every zinced part zinced, re zinced, re chromed and he's gone a bit crazy actually.

So that the interview had been pretty good.

So yeah, I was looking at mine thinking I should do this to mine after 30 years, shouldn't I?

I should give it, give it a bit of a fright.

So yeah, that's the next thing I think is to start is throw a bit of money at the scamp. It's languished long enough

without any money spent on it. Having said that, I did drive it

Sunday afternoon and it started drove beautifully, not a problem at all. So I thought, good little car

that's like a very reliable little friend that can make.

Touch wood sounds good, Chad. So car updates.

You dropped off the the eggs. Yes, I dropped off the egg after

overheating. Dropped it off to your hey.

Oh no, Chad. Yeah, I know.

It's a Toyota out of all kinds. He's a Toyota Ratner, so that's

good. He's a Toyota man.

So that's I got a call from him late last week and said, yeah, it's likely to be a blocked radiator.

So OK, he's sorting a new one out.

Cool. Doing a service and same time

and flush and all that good stuff.

So it should be good. And then, yeah, I ran into you,

Maddie, on the same day we happened to be there.

I had a day off and we went around to a place called VMAX when I do brakes and brake accessories in Campbellfield and I ordered some brakes for the Civic, so and they've just come in. I had my wife pick it up last

week. Sorry, earlier this week.

No, late last week. Anyway, yeah, so I just got some

like race pads and some what they call the J hook rotors, which is like some sort of proprietary rotor slot design pattern Yeah pan pending. I'm sure he's already painted

anyway yeah. So that's all good and well to

go in soon. I just did a break sort of.

I just did a quick flush and bleed over the brakes on the Civic. Just just to make sure I, I

should mention I I took the mouse cylinder off and then I was going to replace it with a bigger one from an Integra.

Turns out it's not compatible. OK, I read some fibs on the

Internet. Who would have thought?

Who would? Have said that you would go on

internal lies. Yeah, I was like, damn, how

would they lie to me? Who'd have thunk it?

Anyway, so I put the the original mouse on the back on and I couldn't get a pedal feel whatsoever for like a good, you know, couple of hours and I just gave up on it and I thought I've got to just get another one or something.

But then yeah, I just decide I'll maybe just give another blade and flush and yeah, it's good.

It's holding air and it's holding pressure.

So yeah, don't have to bother with that right now.

I just get to yeah, put the new pads in and no new riders on and yeah, go, go do some racing. It's been nearly a year to the

day, I think since I've been on the track on that car.

So that'll be, yeah, good to good to get back out.

I guess that those patented was it Jayhawks?

Yeah, see how they're going. They're like, they run 15%

cooler. You're like, they didn't run 15%

cooler. They don't know they look 15%

cooler. They they look asterisk.

Cooler they just have a little Zing for them.

So yeah, we'll see. It's it's all it's all testing,

testing purposes and see what is a good combination, what isn't.

I've never tried these pads before.

Intima Intima racing somethings, whatever they're called anyway.

Heard some mixed stuff about him.

Even the guy who sold them to me said, look, I've had people buy these and had like less than a track day of lifeout of really, you know, and but then he goes to other people have used them differently for different purposes and they get like, you know, four or five track days. OK, so so it's a bit of a mixed

bag. So we'll see how they go in

Civic. The good thing is it's not a

very heavy. It's just like it doesn't need a

lot of Yeah, it's not stopping a a huge amount of weight, which is good. What it makes, man.

Well, yeah, I mean. That's that's kind of the other

option. Just turn in and hope for the

best. Yeah, that's.

What ripple strips are? Carry as much momentum as you

can just. Yeah, terminal understeer, yeah,

got a wheel pad it's. We've got no trailer on the

front at all. You just gotta do.

Can't send Drifto see the wheels turned, the car just going straight. It'll be good to see a civic do

that. It would be.

Awesome it would be, and then you have your beat playing in the background. Yeah, yeah, that's right.

Of course, that is all on the car updates.

Yeah, I, I attended the highball very briefly.

I saw it there. I didn't see you, David, but I

did see your car on the way out, which was cool because I hadn't seen it before. Oh.

I don't. Nice little perv at it.

Yeah. And then I had to get going and

get some other things going. Yeah, that's all for me.

Hello, yes, hello all. You've got you've got a bit of

an update. Yeah, so like David said, it was

a very busy sort of car ish weekend and mine started Friday night when I drove the moke down the peninsula for one night.

And then second Saturday morning I was getting up early to get the ferry from Sorrento across to Queenscliff because in Queenscliff was the annual national Moke gathering.

So Mokes from all around Australia converged on a park in Queenscliff. They were probably, I didn't

count them, but quite a lot, all right, maybe 100 or 110 or something like that. Just they disappointed.

Me, they don't. They've missed an opportunity.

They don't call it the Moke Muster.

Muster. I was calling it Moke Fest but.

I don't know what's been taken. Oh.

I don't know what the official name was.

No, yeah, I went to that, which was really good fun.

I've waited a long time to go to a sort of a national moke type in, in my own moke. So I was very happy.

I I went with a friend, Nick, and we got up quite early, but not quite early enough, as it turns out.

So it was the ferry left at 8:00 from Sorrento and it was 7:50 and we were just zipping into the boom gate lady and I could see the ferry was still there. And because they say get there

40 minutes before departure and blah blah blah.

So, well, that means you get there 40 minutes before the pasture. So, so we got there at 10

minutes before departure and she said, oh, good, I love.

And I said, I said, oh, am I too late?

Am I going to still make the. We're going to still make the

first. Yeah, You got 10 minutes.

She goes, there's four other Mokes on board.

Up you go. And I'm like under the bows of

the ship. And then like, I love driving

into those things and you're amongst all these other cars and. And then?

There's a red one, there's the yellow ones.

So then then we went up on deck and sort of I was looking around thinking now who are the mock drivers?

You know, who are these? Who are these people crazy

enough? And yeah, I found a couple of

mock drivers to chat too. So that was fun.

And yeah, I mean the mocks are such a diverse, you know, in terms of diversity, No2 are the same, you know, just they've been. So you know, I don't want to say

butchers, I don't want to say molested.

I want to say modified, modified, tweaked to their owners desires. But that's the thing with the

Merc, right? And like they're, they're just

like, they're so modifiable that everybody's done it like they're. Blank they're blank canvas that

sort of lends itself to to mods. And so yeah, No 2 are the same.

You're literally walking around every car and going.

That one's got sparkles on it that one's got a pink roll bar that one's got a massive V8 motor in it.

That one's got that one's being chopped up.

That one doesn't, you know, that one's got a factory hardtop on it, you know, like just No2 literally are the same.

So that was really interesting walking around and and you know, I chatted to a couple of people I know I met a couple of people who I'd sort of heard of one ones a young guy from sort of Bendigo area and he does a few runs up around that way.

The last one he did, I missed out on it, but it was like around the gold fields, you know, And he, he had this sort of bridges tour of all the bridges of the region and they go on back roads. You know, the MO people aren't

afraid of a dirt road. And I'm like, Oh yeah, that's a

bit of me. Let's go.

The mock people aren't afraid to take their mocks off road.

Yeah, I think so. All right.

So, yeah, I'm looking forward to going some of those events and then we do a little back over on the ferry.

And really I said to Nick, this is like you've been on an international holiday. I mean, why go to the Bahamas

when you could be on a boat in the in in a beautiful day in a mock? Really, it's a the boat's

expensive, but it's a lot cheaper than going to Greece.

I pressed 2. That was that.

What did that? I mean, the Moke's still a car.

I mean, it's not cheaper than a. Car it's no cheaper than any

other car David for two people and the Moke return surrender to Queens live and back $228.00 so it ain't cheap you.

Mean better to drive. It was another guy who did the

exact same thing, but it was just one of him stealing a moke and that was 150 something, so you know, plus another 60 for a second person or whatever. Is supposed to stuff the person

in the boot, is what you're saying.

So there's no boot. No, there's no boot in the Moat.

But if you're gone yourself, you know, throw your whole family in the boot and then be like, that's just me.

It's. Like what used to do when you

used to go to drive ins, you need put your mates.

To the put an air hole in there. Exactly.

So that was the mark 5th. That was fun.

Then I brought the Mercedes back the 190 because it's blue and I took that to hybrid ball and I hoped that I would get on the lawn with the blue cars. But oh, I got there 8:15 or

something, which is far too late.

So I ended up parking down some side street.

I didn't even get a park in the big and I was nearly at the cracking point of going out. Bugger this.

I'm driving home. You know, it's just, it's too

crazy. And there were a lot of bodies

there. Like it was very, very busy to

just even walk around. But there's always some

interesting cars, you know, talk, talk to a few people.

And then in the afternoon on Sunday, I hosted a very impromptu event, which was because I bought a burrata for Magnifest in bright yellow, the colour of this chair I'm sitting on. And yeah, it was a, it was at

Mannheim, but before that it was at the Wrecker.

And half of Melbourne seems to know about this car.

And what? Yeah, the the story with that

car is we can run through it briefly was let's do it, OK.

It was on Facebook Marketplace a few weeks back covered in dust, but it's quite a rare cut Verada GTV, which was a limited edition in the KJ 2, but it's bright yellow and that is one of 20 ever produced in bright yellow for Verada GTV.

They did do that colour on a few Magna VR XS.

So other Magna's got that colour, but it was still very limited. So if you said there was 20

Veradas, there might be another 50 rally out Magna's and that's it sort of thing. So it's even with that included,

it's still a very rare, rare thing.

So I went and looked at it a few weeks back at this wrecker.

Now the wrecker dragged it out of some shedding Ballarat or somewhere didn't have the key. So it was a non running, no key

proposition covered in dust. But I looked through that stuff

and sort of the car was open so you could you could look in it and I thought this thing looks really pretty original and straight. I'm on board with this, but how

much is it going to cost me to get a key cut?

So I investigate that. It's sort of four, five, $600.00

depending on few factors. So you think?

Even till the case at that stage, no.

Because it's a digital Speedo, you don't know case, it's done.

You don't know if the mode is absolutely cactus, if the trans is gone. You you don't know anything

really other than the condition of the cosmetic.

So I thought, well, the interior and the paintwork, yeah, I can clean that up. It looks really straight.

It's all of those things. I can't open the boot because

it's electronic and you don't have a key.

So I don't know if the boots horrible, if there's mould, rust, you know, all of these things.

So I made an offer on that car when it was at the wrecker and the guy was like, no, fair enough.

Two weeks later he I messaged him and he said, oh, I've got it running. The owner sent me the key, which

he did say when I went there. Oh, the owner said they'd send

the key and I'm thinking, yeah, right, you're never going to get that key. I've heard that before, but

bugger me. The owner did send the key.

So then I said, cool, I'll come by next Saturday and, and, and hear it running and then, you know, maybe do something on it.

When I got there, he said, oh, I sent it to Manheim this morning.

So it literally went. I said, well, how did it run?

He showed me a video of it sort of backing down his driveway.

He said, yeah, look, it ran well, but it was stalling.

You know, when you weren't foot on the gas like it would, it wouldn't idle quite right all the time.

And I was like, oh, yeah, fair enough.

That's it's not a crazy issue? I don't think so.

Then it ended up at Mannheim and it looked a lot better at Mannheim. Someone had watched it and they

chucked it through the lane. I think a couple of you guys

were watching it maybe, yeah. Yeah, I was going to bid on it,

Edward. Yeah.

But look, it started it, it started at 2 grand and they and there were no bits, no bits, no bits, no bits.

I flicked the auctioneer message on the messenger service thing through the site and said I'll give you 1500 or 1800.

And he said, yeah, I'll take that.

But just as he said, I'll take that it.

Someone did put in two and then I was like, all right.

Then it was away. So I was playing in the twos dot

dot dot dot dot dot, and then it gets into 3 and I'm thinking, Oh no, I'll let it go, you know, let it go, someone else can have it. It was going once, going twice,

and I thought, oh, but I do like it.

So I thought. Just one more bid, one more bid.

And of course I owned it on that bid.

And then I was like, oh. It is regret loads.

Of spoiling I. Thought, I mean, I liked the

cars. It wasn't that I didn't like the

car. I just thought, oh, OK.

Well, it's still a bit of a punt, you know?

You still don't know quite what's stuck on this car anyway, because there's usually a reason why someone would park a car like that and let it get cut. Dust in a Tusk.

Yeah. Yeah.

Why have they stopped driving it sort of thing.

I probably paid a bit much whatever whatever I did, and there were a lot of comments online about it and what an idiot I was about paying too much and it was at the wreck of only weeks ago and blah blah blah.

But. They didn't even know who you

Exactly. But but as I said to a couple of

people, the the the clincher with it when it was at the wrecker was that it was a complete unknown.

You didn't know the case, you didn't know if and you didn't know if it even drove. Whereas when it was at Mannheim,

it started, it ran, it drove. They didn't list anything on

their report about issues, you know issues because they have to by compliance. They like if the trans is, if it

doesn't go into D or move, then they have to say, you know, transmission faulty. You have the engine lights on.

They have to say engine light on.

Like there are some cheques and balances with cars at auction where they, you know, they've got a duty of disclosure.

So I was more comfortable when it was at Manheim paying more because those things are sort of alleviated.

And also I don't have the bill of sort of 45600 bucks to get a key cut encoded, you know, and get a locksmith out.

So it's all just a lot easier. So therefore you go, Oh well,

more comfy. I'm happy to sort of pay a bit

more for that. Anyway, I did.

So then I went and picked it up from Manheim last Friday.

And you're still a little bit nervous going, well, how's this thing going to run? Is it going to belch out blue

smoke? Is it, you know, what's it going

to do? Fortunately I pumped up the

tyres, put fuel in it around the corner from Mannheim, drove it all the way home and went. I think this thing's OK.

It's got cold air, corn, everything works, it tracks along well. It's a little soft in the shocks

and the front discs are a bit shuddery, but they're easy enough things to fix. So pending anything else crazy,

you know, I've driven it enough now just doing a handful of KS around about testing stuff that, you know, the temp was fine, oil pressure like goes straight off, motor sounds sweet as pie.

No smoke, trans shifts. Well, I'm sort of like, well, I

think this is OK. And if you see it, which David

has and Chad has, no, not Chad David.

David has it presents pretty well, you know, or a 2003 car that's, you know, been in a barn, God knows where for a few years. So yeah, that's the the Wasp

yellow Verada. I've since it did come with

books, which had most of the early service history in there.

But then it was pretty patchy later on.

But there's a sticker on the windscreen.

I've I've since traced I think 90% of the service history.

Oh. Awesome.

If not 100%. So you know, one of the other

things is of course it's done 263,000 K.

Has it had a timing belt? And look, it's probably had one

at 100, but has it had one at 200 or post that you don't know, you know, so I found the mechanic in through the the history and they'd seen it more times than were indicated, you know, and Oh yeah, had timing built AT200K.

Brilliant, you know, Yeah, great.

That saves me having to do that. Yeah.

So, yeah, piece most of the history together, which is good.

And it's going in Friday to get a roadie check just to see.

They'll definitely pick things. I'm just hoping that I'd pick

too many more things than what I've and then I'll chip away at it. Sounds good.

So I've decided to get a wriggle on with with my MR2 because I haven't driven it a lot in the last year and a half because of the oil leak. So I've ordered the seal, I've

ordered the time belt kit. I've ordered a new clutch and so

remain seal clutch Tommy belt kit with water pump.

And yeah, like that's pretty much all it needs.

So but it but what's funny is like the parts are so cheap because they're, they're Corolla based.

So the remain seal was like for a Japanese one was $8 through work. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like, like and

the food it says you made in Japan on the on the, on the sticker. I'll show it to you guys in a

minute. The tone belt kit was like

$90.00 with a water pump and the clutch was $120.00.

So for the full, full clutch kit.

So like all in for parts for and obviously I bought oil and Philtre just to give it a service.

Oil Philtre came to about 50 like all into parts for that.

It's like, you know, under 300 bucks to do all of that.

But obviously the labour's going to going to be a bit more of a pain because they're going to drop the motor and reseal it and do everything properly. So that's where the money's

gonna be in the labour. But the parts wise is being

Corolla based. I'm like, oh God, I love

Toyotas. Like they're just so cheap.

It was like, I couldn't believe how cheap I was like when I, when I was ordering it online at work.

Obviously that's that's that's with my discount on price.

I'm like, my God, like I love Toyota.

It's why don't, why don't I own just Toyotas for this reason, You know what I mean? Like everything's well, it's

interesting like because it's a it's a 4A bottom and it's the same for like a cheapy, you know, run of the mill 4 AFE, you know, remain seal. So like they're all the same.

And seeing as they made about 480 billion of them, you know, they're remade Japanese remain seal 8 bucks.

Come on, like like really? I was surprised.

Like I thought the clutch kit would would cost me a fortune but with everything just a standard OE replacement clutch it was 120 bucks and I was like my God that's cheap.

And that's going to be very similar to, that's going to be similar to even a like a Corolla 1.

Yeah, correct. But yeah.

Well, what a lot of people don't realise, because like when I, I was speaking to, to my, my other mechanic friend Sebastian about it and he keeps thinking it's like an Southwest 20.

And I'm like, no, it's, it's the early one, like the, the, the boxy one. He's like, oh, like the like

the, you know, there's, there's you know, really widgy ones.

I'm like, yeah, and and he's like, he's like, oh, but they're still going to be hard to work. I'm like, not necessarily

because it's quite literally a Corolla backwards.

Like they've it's, it's so much so that that even the on the rear end, it's got tie rod ends on the on the rear.

They've quite literally taken it from the front, which, which that which it doesn't need because it's not turning.

So it's got tie rod ends, you know, in it.

It's it's that much of A reversed, you know, Corolla.

So when they said that they're like, oh, this actually won't be that hard. So they're, it's not going to,

it's not going to cost me too much that they, they don't reckon, but you know, we'll give it a birthday and then I can actually probably enjoy it because it is leaking a bit of oil. So that's good.

I spoke with the people who are rebuilding the gearbox for my laser. I'm like, it's been almost five

months at this point and they're like, we're still waiting on two seals. And I'm like, that's really

frustrating. So when that comes in, I also

ordered a clutch for the laser for for the laser, just because when I when I changed the gearbox, I might as well put a new clutch in it while I'm in there.

I've decided I'm getting getting that ready for a club plate.

I'm going to take it off the road in December.

And that's what I've decided so I can get it all tidied up, get little bits and pieces done. I've already already started,

you know, tidying it up and got new second hand belt warnings, but really good ones that don't have cracks in them.

So I'm spraying them in the Press of sending them back, spraying them. I'm going to find another front

bumper because my front bumper is completely mounted.

And I'll go get that painted and once once it's ready, I'll put that on and, you know, make it look schmick and then you.

Repaired your butt, it's not that bad.

favourites from like? I obviously I had work that day

concert at night. I wasn't able to to partake in

any car related festivities. So but I did, but I did catch up

How early can you get there? Are people parking their cars

When you wake up in the machine, you notice it's dark that it was very quickly. It seems to have happened.

Look, I think, I think for the sheer bedlam that it is, I think it is fairly under control. I mean, people know it's going

to be nuts. Now, if you really want to park

on the on the grass and you've got a car that's, you know, they theoretically can be you, you know, you've got to get there early. You know the earlier than you

did it. I mean, I wasn't crazy late,

By by 8:00, I mean that was I got up there just after 8 and the overflow car park my car was in was, was closed from the McNaughton Rd entrance. So I went around, I just went

around the corner and then the next gate was still open and they said, oh, you just go, go up here and turn left at the coffee cart and find a, a parking there.

I said, well, they've just closed that from Mcnaughton's road. But luckily when you drive a

ridiculously tiny car, it'll fit very well because it won't.

So I just saw a space beside the fence and just parked there and no one said Boo. So I.

think people expect it to be big people who haven't been for the first time, like, like this is madness.

But if you're a regular attendee, it, it seems to work really well, I think. I mean, and by 9930 some cars

sort of start to leave. So if you the only thing is, if

they could, I don't know how they would do it.

But if they could keep a bit of monitoring on how many cars actually leave, that obviously means there are more spaces opening up sort of thing. So they could be feeding cars

back in, but. Yeah, I reckon I would have had

made me laugh just seeing it because they were daggy cars new and they time hasn't improved. But hey, we love a daggy car.

So absolutely. In fact, all the photos I I

actually took were pretty much of daggy cars.

There were some real glamour things there, but I didn't take photos of them. Can I just say I've got a soft

spot for a Dodge or Chrysler Neon or Plymouth Neon, as I would known as, you know, like they're known as all three of them. Yeah, they're known as all three

of them in Oh, really? In America, Yeah, quite

literally just swapped the badge.

They they had their own racing series in the in the states, but I but but no like and like that. Is a Hyundai Excel.

And I always liked them because it was my first car in Need for Speed Underground. You loved the Neon?

I'm like, oh, you got the car from Need for Speed and then Anthony ended up ended up with it and then I went to The Wreckers. So but you don't see them

anymore. Like I can't remember the last

time I've seen them on the road, like like a first year Neon, they're all gone. So when you posted that, David,

I freaked out. I was like, Oh my God, that's a

Neon. I got really excited.

And then, you know, the more I thought about it, my friend mentioned to me as well as like, when was the last time you saw one? Like and it's.

our discussion last week about like, what haven't you seen and what should be brought back to have like a Magna, you know, resurgence. I think the neon bring the neon

best, neon best. I literally don't think there

are enough left. For an action to have the best.

But yeah, like the I always preferred though I didn't, I didn't like the second Gen Neon. That was a bit of a but the but

the first Geneon was kind of quirky and interesting.

It was kind of, you know. It's like a happy, bubbly shade.

It is a it's a happy car. I remember I remember driving

that neon. I was like, this is actually all

right. Like it didn't drive bad.

Very American of the time, very plasticy and and stuff.

But like mechanically Anthony gave it a very hard time and it and it survived ish so. Yeah, I love the fact he's had

some stickers on the back, like bumper sticker that said welcome West Virginia Wild and wonderful, and also had a little, a little a little UFO sticker.

whole thing and I was talking to the owner and he actually, I said the hubcap's look amazing, he said.

But he, he liked the fact that, you know, he didn't know anyone else that had one and didn't sort of think that, you know, there'd be. But he did have a long history

with neons or anything not. Young guy, young guy and

interestingly I've seen a pop of one or quite a few other pages of people that have much bigger following than mine and and felt exactly the same way and thought that's incredible.

I haven't seen one of these. For a long time, well, they

didn't. Sell a lot of them at all.

like a Mazda 323 or something, you know, just.

So that's the Porsche built bins with the V-85 litre V8 and they were flared guards, all hand built.

I think they were, yeah. The the reason why because the

flared guards were too wide to go down the actual assembly line for the number 1240. No, that's the reason why I got

they sent it to Porsche. Porsche basically did the flares

and they sent it back for the engine fitment and then they went back to Porsche to for final, final assembly.

Wow. So yeah, it it for each each one

of that. I think it was like a 14 day

process or something to to get each one of those some something nuts. That's why they were so

expensive because it was just to build it would cost cost Mercedes and Porsche a crap tonne of money.

So it was like a backwards of four.

So it'd it'd get dipped in in, in Mercedes.

is that James Bond Z3 colour, that really nice light bluey teely colour, but twin sunroof, twin metal sunroofs, which is sort of the predecessor to your panoramic roof factory wheels.
