This is professional radio. Has front wheel drive.
But have you got anyone you want to think?
Just myself and now we'll do the after hours.
Gentlemen, what would you do for Thanksgiving?
There. OK.
And cause it's not a supercar, there is.
It's not. Ordinary perfection comes in the
form of two letters A&U. Long live my Ltd.
Welcome to Catwalk. It's Tuesday night here on 98.9
Northwest FM. It's me, Maddie Jay online with
Mr. Allen, Deep Singh, Mr Adrian de Giorgio, Mr Rob Sadie and I
believe Scotty there as well, but he's still kind of logging in. How are you guys?
Good. Good.
Thanks. Very, very good.
I think that's Scotty. Scotty, can you hear us there
he. Is.
Yeah, we can hear you loud and clear.
Power Loud and loud and clear. Let's see how we're all
travelling along First, Adrian Bills.
We've had you back on. We'll start with you and your
car updates. No real updates, just still
accumulating parts. This really is fun as it is at
the moment, just trying to get everything together so I can.
I have a chance to work on the car accumulating passage during kid to elevate. Is something broken?
No, as in like all the full Dropbox OK.
So it's all the accessories. Mr Mr Manley's Bush pig and gets
on out there, gets stuck in a rut.
Every second, every second line will be will be in uh Nah, yeah, yeah, Nah, Nah. Yeah, that that that that's how
it's going to be 1. Replace on all the time.
May gallon. You gotta have blue on and
everything. And you we and you be you know
you'll be right. That's it.
You'll you'll be sorted. So this is part.
That's for the for the disco, right.
So which one? You decide which one you're
keeping, the petrol or the diesel or.
Uh, diesel. Are you in the diesel?
OK. Yeah, so it's small, it's just
sitting at the moment, but I'm just trying to get as many parts as I can together for it, so. When it comes to.
Actually, putting it all together, I've got everything sitting. Hmm.
So that's. I don't like doing things.
Yeah, half around where you know.
I've gotta do a little bit, then we gotta wait for parts and do a little bit, then wait for parts. Yeah, rather, it's all there.
I can put it all in at one time, don't have to touch it again.
Yeah, but yeah, as I said, like the majority of them say now it's just a little bits and bobs left, which I'm happy about, was I was able to get all the big stuff out of the way.
And hopefully the car will be on the right suit.
So what, what is the, what is exactly the plan with this car?
Like like what are what is the things you are getting for like you know, preparing it for your obviously lift.
OK. Yeah, so it's it's gonna be a
nice tour. I'm not.
I don't plan on going like over the top of it.
So it's more. Yeah, as I said, like.
If I wanna go play some Islands Rd, all that kind of stuff, I'm comfortable, isn't it? Yeah, because, yeah, sometimes.
I go on these trips that I'm not very comfortable because I don't have. Yeah, he's a fridge and the food
and. The comfort.
Of having somewhere to sleep. So.
So you gonna strip at the the whole back end and just have it all set up, Is that the plan and just have two front seats or?
No, no, I'm gonna keep A4 seater seeking back on 2 seater, but I don't understand and I don't really like the thought of having poor doors and two seats. Like, it's just to me this
doesn't make sense. I'd rather if I'm gonna do that
I'll just go buy a Shorty. And that's 2 door two seats.
Yeah. But yeah, I've I've managed to
find a way to make a draw system work.
The. Joe battery system, a fridge,
roof rack, all the lights, all my electronic switches.
I've spent a lot of time, you know, developing what I want out of it. So hopefully, because this
weekend, supposed to be very nice weekend, I'm gonna have time to actually start. Putting stuff in.
Yeah, nice. So yeah, hopefully the car will
be done soon. So rooftop tent or you're gonna
try a little? No, right yet at the moment I've
I've just got a 10. So I'm just gonna stick with
like a tent for now, but in time I I might get a rooftop tent.
It depends, cause the way I've got my roof rack set up like in my head is I've got a water tank that's going to be up there along with a solar panel. So I don't really wanna take a
lot more space out of that to have a.
Rooftop tent up there as well. I saw some great setups when I
went to the Think Desert race where they got the rooftop tent, but the solar panels on the rooftop tent cover.
Yeah, that's that's another thing I was thinking to do with this. Well, yeah, but it just comes
down to. Again, from now, I'll see how it
goes with without a rooftop tent because yeah, it's quite a lot of money to dump into just one item.
So yeah, I'm, I'm thinking of going, at least I've got a tent sitting here for now, so I can use that.
And then you know, they'll start to upgrade from there.
And I bought a second hand one through Believe It on the marketplace which was only used once and only paid $400.00 for
it. And it's a hard case.
One hard shell one. Yeah, I was thinking about like
getting a second hand one. I I just.
I don't trust them enough. If I'm gonna do it, it's like
everything that I'm buying at the moment.
The the car, the the the blue diesel disco that came kitted out with. Sidesteps Bubba Winch.
God would have to say that had the drawers and a roof rack.
But everything was second hand. Everything was crusty.
Everything was full of rust. I didn't like it.
So I've gone everything new now so that I know it's gonna work.
So if I'm gonna get a rooftop tent, I'll probably end up getting one through work. But.
As I said, I the only part I don't like about rooftop fence is you gotta take him on and off the car and park.
If you're not gonna use it, then you know means you gotta find somewhere to store. Otherwise it's gonna stay on the
car in the weather for no reason whatsoever.
So. I've gotta come to terms with
that whole side of things. I I just don't.
Know, Yeah, yeah. They are difficult to put on.
You need two people to put them on and to take it off.
So you really need to make a jig in your garage where you can roll up and and sort of lift it off into your roof space.
And and leave it up there on the roof when you when when you use it next. Had a guy that came into the
house today that. He's one of the national patient
transfer people. And he was saying that they're
getting rid of all the old ambulances.
So they offered one to him and he was gonna get one.
But he's like a. How would I go about putting
that rooftop tent on that thing? And I'm like, which one is it?
Like the the short height one or like the full height?
He's like the full height, I'm like, well, how tall is that?
He's like a 6.2 like. A person that's 6 foot 2 will
stand perfectly up in that. And I'm just like, how the hell
are you gonna get a tent up? And then you gotta continually
walk up like the ladder and down and all that.
No. What they do with these ones,
they actually have a deck with a a ladder at the back door, so you have a permanent viewing deck as well, so.
Keep looking at the sunset. It's not another proposition for
you. You don't do the tent and just
stay in one of the the little lodges, that phrase well.
What's the point in creating a cover?
Did you get the car? You can go fishing and stuff,
yeah. Yeah, but you can just have a
normal car at that point, you in the back and you cannot have a normal car. No letter, no cause.
It's the rules. You know what I mean?
A normal thought. No, not kitted out.
So it's it's something that I think I don't understand.
Yeah, almost the same. Like you're gonna ask you,
right? Do people that come into a RB
and like AB's like you know multi $1,000,000 company, did they just say they only company with like the most latest cars and say keep me out and they just just or do you do you see people coming with like older like 80 series and things or that or that none of that anymore?
It depends on what's. So at the storm I meant normally
you get all the. I'm trying to think of the
nicest way miss. Get a lot of the ethnics.
It's probably the easiest way to say it.
Because it's the area and they've all got the older cars.
Then you tell them the price of how much each item is and they almost have a heart attack and walk out.
So that that's always funny. But no, look, a lot of people,
they've got brand new parts. So they're like, I've got a
brand new car, I wanna start touring.
What do I get? And I tell all the customers
exactly the same thing. To start off with touring, there
is two things that you need and only two things.
A Bulba. And a snorkel.
Don't worry about anything else. But do you really need a school?
Is my is my question because like like how often are you doing like a a water, you know going.
Through your tour. If you're touring, you've gone
through dirt roads, you've gone through dirt roads.
There's always a chance that that road could be flooded.
And if you've just travelled. 1012 hours to go to where your
destination is. Your destination is another
couple of hours passer. Are you gonna turn around and go
oht night the road squad turn around?
Drive back home? No.
You're gonna go OK. How deep is it?
Ohk OK, it's only halfway up my wheels.
A lot of the forward drives these days, they have the air down in the bumper. Say even if it's halfway up the
wheels, the water still gets into the engine, whereas if you've got a snorkel, it's up above.
It's just protection. He might never use it, but at
least it's there other in case. Because a lot of the cars these
days as well, new cars, you're talking engines to the 304050 grand to replace. So for $1000 item to get put on.
Yeah, it's insurance, basically. Ohf what they're like, the
Rangers had like an 800 mil wading depth and and and the the Range Rover has got like 900 mil.
And they say that I don't trust it, like I said.
I've seen worst case scenarios. Worst case scenario is is.
Cars have ingested water because yeah, they got that little bit too far. So I always just tell people,
put a snorkel on you. You might not need it, but it's
better to have it rather than not.
Same as a a bulba. Abuba is not something that
you'll ever go around saying. I'm going to hear the kangaroo
today. But that one chance that you're
not paying attention, you hear the kangaroo, at least with Abuba. You're gonna save your car.
You're not gonna destroy the front of it and then you know you have to go buy a new character.
Exciting trips over. Christian Yeah, with the bull
bars, right? Are they ADR approved?
Like they are approved, yes. And if you've got a I think it's
a Ford, Toyota or Isuzu, we actually make the bars.
To the manufacturer specifications of them, of those cars. So it if you get a brand new
car, I've got four. Or is it any of those cars?
And you decide I wanna put a ARD, bulbar or AB stuff on the car. Through forward, you'll get a
five year warranty on products. So instead of just a three year
warranty if you come directly to us.
Adrian, I gotta ask, can you get a discount on one of those brand new ARB Off road caravan campers?
Stop. Not as much as you think.
We've got what actually we've got one in in our stores though if you want to take a look at one up close.
What were they around 130,000, weren't they?
No, none of this. No, it's.
Or the base one as in with nothing, Insight as in none of the upgrades? It's about 85.
And I think if I remember correctly, with all the upgrades, it's about 9500. OK. 100 Yeah, it sounds like a
lot. But if you look at the
equivalent of what our camper is actually based on which is like, sorry, not based on, but the equivalent of it is the T van.
The TV van is 100 and 21130 grand.
For something that doesn't have as many features as what else does? Hmm.
So yeah. OHS you like getting back,
getting back to the question about the, you know, ADR approval and stuff when like let's say you know, God forbid you have an accident with with those bull bull bars.
Are they meant to like are they for the airbags to deploy and everything properly or or are they everything?
Have they been crash tested and everything as well or?
Got completely crashed, tested and yes, the airbag approved as well. So the other thing that we do,
which is really cool is, is especially on the boards, they've got the full 360 degree camera.
If you get the touring pack. Yeah, and our bars are made to
work with those. Well that's good.
So after you, after you put the bull bar on the car, you go back to Ford, they recalibrate it so that because it sits a little further out. But apart from that, yeah, it's
all 80 approved, no issues with it.
And you still keep your safety rating with those bars.
Yeah, that's. Awesome.
It's just really cool, like the way that they're actually made, because they are wider than what the old bars used to be, they're stronger and they're safer. That's actually really good.
Yeah, it's interesting going to go work for them because you can see the way that things are made and you understand why they cost so much. Like you hear 5-6 grand for
bulbar you're like. Yeah, it's that's expensive.
But then you look at what it actually does compared to it $1000 bull bar and you're like, OK, fair enough, you know it's you. Be using high tensile steels
instead of just small steel right throughout and stuff like that. And if you think different
steels in different parts of the ball bar for different, yeah, areas. Yeah, it's it's.
And the way that they made so crumple as always, completely different. I had a guy that he came in that
he was going on a big trip with, I think it was 200 series on the way, you know, accidentally hit the wildlife.
Three that he hit came in with the car and he was like, all I need is a fog light surround and a buffer.
After hitting three Kangaroos. Hmm.
And they weren't small ones cause he was showing me, you know, like, hey, fair enough, like they're just this strong bars, which is what I like and actually look decent.
The capital ones out there. On another night diff lock.
So they universal. Can you actually put them on
different cars or are they specifically built beach?
Yep. So the specific for each car,
OK. And that's simply because it's
basically your dip centre. Yeah, that's what it changes,
right? So it is all specific for
certain cars. But we've got a big, big range
of all the air lockers and then yeah, you get one of our compressors that go with it with the manifold and.
They will. Often they work.
The only thing is. If you don't have any lockers on
your car, and this is a top tip. If you don't have any lockers on
your car, only put a view on it for now.
Get used to that because if you put a front locker in and you turn it on. And lose all scary.
This is the way that they made to work, so you gotta be careful. With interesting are you doing
very interesting I actually we'll talk more about AB and and and you know the the stuff that they sell with with you on the on the show. Whenever you're Rob.
Updates with you. I'll tell you what, this guy
colour matched the paint work real well to my E430.
So it's come up real good. The weather has warmed up to
start spray painting again, so Rob Certifications is back into business. We're gonna, we're gonna well 9
days of whether above 20. So bring out the spray guns.
Bring them out. What happens to your neighbour?
I don't know. I don't know which neighbour it
was, but they sent the council out, the council came out and they had to look around. They saw that I wasn't running a
business, so. That will satisfy that.
That was only a hobby in what I've got in there is my own car.
And I and I said to him, if this ever happens again, because if I get you coming out the third or fourth time, I'm going to consider this as harassment and I'll be taking it a lot further, yeah, yeah. Because there's a third.
That was the third time. What a snitch.
Hmm, amazing how people are are these days.
Yeah, you told me anyway. You told them so apart from
yeah, working on just touching up the the boot with that the the spray paint which come up real good and matched real well, it for some reason just the the paint.
Didn't really tape too well and I've I've actually.
Donna Grace wax and grease remover.
You know, I've sanded it back and all sorts of things to try and get a good adhesion of the new paint to the old paint.
It just didn't take too well. I don't know why.
It's sort of you got to be real careful.
You got to be very light on your spray paint with a spray can.
It's not like, it's not like applying paint out of a spray gun. Two totally different ways of
working and you got to be real light and real easy on the paint. Otherwise it'll just, yeah, just
doesn't apply too well. But I think it comes it came out
right so that I've got a phone call from Ford saying to my part will be here on the 18th of September.
I don't know what that means, but it'll be here so I don't think. Peaks, but the part will be
here. And then I make sure they noted
the rattle and the the sync system and the track system doesn't work in it as well. So I said I won't be picking up
the car until it's all fixed. And yeah, that's pretty much it.
And now? The Jimmy, the the chicks, come
have a look at the Jimmy on Sunday.
So that's if she's put a deposit down.
So hopefully everything will go through and she'll take it at the same time. We'll see how we go.
Very good, Yeah. That's pretty much it.
Hello. I played with you, no mess
updates because I just yeah running and not running at the same time. The truck, which is I guess the
vehicle as well, we also sold that as of today and put the notice of disposal into the crowds and move along as well.
So I guess that more officialized's retirement.
Yeah, that and for the first time I think because I obviously got to log into his Vic roads because I'm like you know there's no cars which doesn't you don't anymore like what do you mean because the, the SDI and the the DMX is still under the company name and the truck was like the last I think vehicle registered personally to his name.
So like you know now you've got zero cars idea like back in the day I used to like you know four to five which is it's it's a bit of a difference. But yeah, so interestingly we
haven't actually been paid for the truck yet but that's a thing we're working out with the personal Solder 2 thankfully the very trustworthy but it's more of a a liability thing because I think the insurance ran out on the truck today as well.
So yeah, don't want to be old truck sitting around with no insurance on it. So that's out of the way.
Nice and easy, and that's about all for me.
No, I don't really have an update actually at the moment.
Just trying to get over this cold and moving into the holidays then and that's that's it.
Yeah, nothing new from me. Very, very good.
May not much went to The Wreckers.
Got a couple of bits and bobs getting ready for the laser respray. The scamp got taken in
yesterday, so that's now. It's currently getting the
brushes for the generator done and then the bit of roadworthy work. And then it's ready for Club
plate under my name and I can start driving it to work and making everyone think I'm an idiot.
So I cannot wait for for. That I already vouched for that.
Yeah, this is true. This is true.
So yeah, that is pretty much, it's on my end gentleman.
Now moving on to tonight's topic guys.
Well a few weeks ago we started out write the kind of manufacturers offerings in Australia.
If you guys remember that we we we started discussing you know what what key you had, what Honda had and what Hyundai had.
Tonight we're going to be discussing a few more brands as well but we're going to start with Toyotas current range.
Now I thought we started Toyota range because well one, we've got an AIB specialist here Mr Adrian de Giorgio who can you can you can be honest about some of the cars they sell.
And two, I think Toyotas really come back a long way and leaps and bounds in the last, let's say, you know, 10 years.
I think they're really brought themselves back out of the abyss of boring cars as as Akio Toyota says, so, so basically let's go through there. Said they currently sell Yaris,
Corolla, Camry, Well, they sell the Corolla, both the hatchet sedan, they sell the Yards crossed Chr, the Corolla Cross, the Rough 4, the Kluger, the Fortuna, the Prado and the Land Cruisers 300, as well as Hilux Land Cruiser 70 High Ace Grandview Coaster. And of course their performance
cars GRGR 86 G Coral and your GTR Supra.
So they've got quite a massive. Is probably one of the biggest
ranges I've seen for the jump for one of the Japanese brands We we last time we did we covered like the yays and Nas and the cars that we that we actually consider why if we if we had to buy a Toyota. Now Rob you've obviously got a
current Gen Hilux in your position at the moment.
How are you finding that car will start with the high because that is their most popular car at the moment.
I say it apart from the particular philtre thing, like, you know, burning off all the time, you know, put that aside the actual. OK, timing systems quite bland,
but the car drives great, It does everything good.
It's fairly good on fuel. It does everything OK, sort of.
It doesn't get some heck outside, put off balance when you're hitting large bumps and it doesn't sort of jolt around on the road or anything like that.
It's it's very well planted When you drive down the highway it it can be annoying with the the lane keeping system wants to pull you back in all the time when you're trying to you know get closer to a line sometimes intentionally and it'll pull you back and you got to sort of fight the steering but not a bad car. Not a bad car.
Well, let's go through the range.
So we started with the Hilux now.
Let me see how it's virtually every day, yeah, yeah, or nay on the new Hogs when it is Australia's best selling car has been for a very long time. Between that and the Ranger
makes. Well.
It depends on the range of the hierarchical, because you also gonna think they've got. All the different models that
are in the Hilux, correct? The one that I still don't
understand why you would buy. Is the Hilux broke the road
because the Hilux Rd? In the tub comes with copper in
the tub. What's the point in that?
In the tub it has a hard lead and it comes with calm.
Wait, really, it? Would be during great carpet
though it would be what? That's marine grade carpet but.
If you're getting a tub, it's to put stuff in the.
You're not gonna put in the car, you put stuff on carpet.
You just slide around as much. Oregon carpet is a good thing.
Are you gonna put wood and dirt in there?
You would put dirt that's like. If you're gonna have a
turbinate, yeah, yeah. Are you gonna put, like, dirt or
trees or whatever it is that you know, you gotta go to the tip with afterwards? You go to the car wash and you
just wash the tub line around and you're done.
Great, great carpets. Targeted for a fairly narrow
group of people, the Rogan old no would be the off roaders and and family type guys rather than throwing your engineering as a business. Card they mostly, whereas if you
need and you worked on, you get the steel track.
Well, the the the problem is, is if it's tilted towards arthritis, if you're putting a set of drawers in the back, because that's what you do with the tub, you're gonna take the carpet out anyway because it doesn't go on top.
It's like I just don't get it. But that doesn't make sense.
Look to be fair, I I in in. In that instance I I agree with
you. They've got.
You know they've got quite the range of of of Hilux now and does the carpet come in the GR sport as well or is it just in the road? They don't have the GTR in the
Hilux. Yeah, they bought a.
Gulfport Do they Do you want to spend $80,000?
You get the cheese. We haven't.
We haven't had one come in yet then not not in highlights.
I don't get how happy they are. Yeah, I'm not sure about that,
but we had a lot of the SRS come in cause we get a lot of fleet cars that come in. Yeah, yeah, they're OK.
There's nothing really wrong with him.
It's another joke you. That's the way I just see him
these days. All the Duke views are the same.
Yep, they're a lot nicer to drive, I will say that, than some of the other model cars. Yeah, that a joke.
Abuts, but yeah. As I said, it's more just fleet
cars that we get, so it's. The accessories that are
available for them. A very like straight to the
point. Like, you get your boss just
sidesteps scrub bars. That's really about it.
Well, the one, the one I reckon to getting in the range is the Sr because you've got the, the, the, you know it's like the little extra cab kind of suicide doors at the rear.
So that gives you. That gives you your big.
That's an extra. Yeah, SSR is.
SNR is like the actual luxury model, if you want to call it that. So you like your SR5 Rd?
And all that kind of stuff. So it's like the size of
cheapest 1. So basically it's got, but it's
got. The cheapest.
It's got the extra long extra long tub so you can actually fit stuff in there because dual cab users we know like you can't really feel in the back. So for me that's that's the
sweet spot of the range and it's the cheapest one besides the workmate like it's it's fifty they started 52 grand like is it you know $30,000 less than a GL sport.
I mean, I don't really think so. It's not much of a difference in
the car, but. It's not in the whole
drivetrain, it's the same. Yeah, so I would personally.
Go for that you get extra top space and I think that I think that probably be a little bit better.
So that's the work that's 24,000 which is, which is, which is good and then you've got all the way up to like well over 80 grand which is a lot of money to to to be fair for for a car.
But to me, a Rogue is like when you go to a Ford and say you want to buy a wild track. Well, it's like it's going
against, right? I'd say it's in the same
ballpark there. Yeah, the the same people that
that that you get in buying those spillover, I'd still don't understand. It so we've got the highlights,
so. You know it's obviously very big
selling car got it's got carpet in the back which is which I find which I agree with you is is a little bit, a little bit how you going? But you know it's they are they
are popular and they and then and they do what they what they made to do, sticking with their utes.
We get to the Land Cruiser 70 series.
Which has been around since, you know Jesus time essentially, and you know he he himself almost probably probably drove drove one of these were very similar to driving.
Honda Accord. He would drive under accord.
Yeah. What's that?
What's that? We never spoke about it, yeah.
I do not speak of my own accord. He didn't speak about it, but he
drove. It so.
Basically this car has been around since the dawning of time and you know, you know it's an old car.
When they say plus antilock brakes, ABS comes standard across the range which which shows how old the the architecture is but does his job.
And if you go to any mine in Australia, there will be thousands of them there going in and out all day long because that's what they're made to do and they're made to do it what do. You think of the new one.
So they're about to come out 2020 fours.
Is it a completely different car or is it a?
It's just a more box shape. It kind of looks a bit like a
Bronco, but. Ohe Yeah.
No, I did see this. Yeah.
Would be. I mean it looks it looks like it
like like one of the older ones, it looks even older than the current one. So I guess that's kind of what
it's kind of what they're going for, but it looks to be virtually, it's just it's just another facelift looks to be exactly the same you know from the doors back essentially.
So I've just gone through the the little website brochures like air conditioning comes as standard.
Oh, it hurts. So Australia.
For what you're paying. So so let's let's look at the
prize in this thing this these things are yeah it's a steel pelvis still indestructible. You've got a range of work mate,
GX, GXL and now they are basically a fragile XL you're looking at are currently unavailable.
Dragway price, but we're very expensive as I.
Say about one 15120. But like, I mean, yeah, I I get
that like they're they're, they're a tough rig like they're made to do, you know. Do you know what's funny?
Is the people who all come in and OHS gonna get hate for this, but gotta say it, the people that all come in that have the 7976 and 78 all that kind of stuff, they all do the same thing when they've gotten. There by the big bars they buy
the scrub bars, they buy the sidesteps all colour matched to the vehicle. Now if you're going to get off
roading, you never colour match the bar because it's pink, whereas the bars come out powder coat.
So they're stronger. Hmm.
So they all come in, they're paying them all up and as soon as they hear colour match, Yeah. You're not gonna take this car
off road. It's just a more crawler.
Yeah, pretty much. And it's like the new Hummer.
This is true. This is true.
But it's an. It's a very.
It's a very expensive. You know, uh?
More cruel if. They'll tell you it's the
equivalent of what the hammer was in 2005.
Yeah, pretty much. Pretty much.
I'll, I'll, I'll agree with that.
Just quickly, I was watching Al Jazeera and what they're saying is they're trying to push the ICE car at the price is up so high so you can't afford to buy one and and make electric cars cheaper. So that's what they're trying to
do in the world is actually push up prices so the cars are only going to get deer moving forward, even dearer A lot clearer. It doesn't matter how dear it
is, pay players need the 70 nines.
Yeah, and and being like 40 years of debt to to to be able to afford one on on their on their on their trade apprentice apprenticeship wage, so. Unless you're a Sparky,
qualified Sparky and then you you know you licence to make money. Yeah, correct, correct.
So they still come with the old V8 to four 4.5 litre turbo
diesel. They paint standard transmission
manual. So they are just a rugged off
roading vehicle they they made, they made for that, for that you know. Essentially to to do that like
like like the people are pictured driving these cars.
She's probably scared. UP Robbie left.
We we've lost Rob, but the people I used to drive in this car is Steve Owen, you know Russell Coit like that is the type of car that that is owned by what by those people.
So, so, so they've got that. You know you.
Know the 79 is actually one of the worst vehicles to offer anyway. How come?
Because they leaves from. That is true.
Because they leave sprung, especially in Riyadh.
They get stuck everywhere. Yeah, actually gonna.
Who's about a $20,000 conversion to changing to coils in the rear? $20,000.
I think was about 20 grand but. It's like.
They're not even good at going off roading.
All they're good for is tradesmen.
Farmers and tradespeople like the the engine still makes 150 hundred kilowatts from, you know, four half litre V8.
You can train them, you can't tune them.
But I guess the the the push is that obviously if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you're going to push for more
power, you're going to lose that reliability.
Understand that. And if you do have a task that
ultimate reliability is the most important thing, yeah, it's there somewhere, either. Yes, that is the car, but if if
it is a mole hole out, there are so many more comfortable things you can be in. These are comfortable cars.
No, but that's what I'm saying is you incurious are horrible for you know, the day and age and just like I get, like I said, air conditioning as standard.
It's like an advertisement obviously cars not gonna be that fun. You hear a lot of Rd noise if
somebody comfortable. If you're spending that kind of
money, why not Spice or some kind of Land Rover product?
Haven't break down in the parking lot, but at least you know you'll be near by the dealership.
They'll tell it away and they'll fix it.
And This is why I say it's it's. The They're not worth what
people spend on. And then as I said, they all go
to their local dealer and spend another 40 grand on it.
Just to make it look tough and as I said, they're not the best stuff around either my. Biggest group with these cars is
that they are, you know. But there are 120 grand.
Now, second hand, you know, like and you you virtually, you all you're having that car is based on is its reliability.
Yeah, they're reliable. Yeah, it'll get you.
It'll get you home 100% percent of the time.
It's a status piece. It That's exactly what that car
is. And.
That's exactly like. Yeah, sorry.
Steph asked me the other day she's like how do you tell that someone's got money but that but they but they you know buy but they they're not flash they're not flashy about it in terms of cars. Now that's a good question.
You got me thinking you know and I was like so can I know and she responds with Toyota Land Cruiser.
I'm like absolutely it is not flashy but my God is it expensive And you know and we haven't even got to the 300 series yet so so just so hold your horses on that.
But like that is essentially saying you know you've got money and if you if you're driving around in a in a car like.
That the three hundreds are actually useful.
Not at that price range. At that price are not, yeah,
exactly right. Now there are a lot more useful
than the 70 nines. Unless she can tell you family
around with it and towel caravan.
Do all that kind of stuff. We can still talk on. 779.
Yeah, but it's gonna be uncomfortable unless you're comfortable in a in a cruiser it.
Was my. This is true but it's still
gonna be able to do it. But again the the issue is.
The new cruiser you cannot get the V8, you can only get the V6 which are having massive issues so. 6 Twin turbo.
Yeah, correct. Which hot V configuration, which
we know doesn't work because they just cook everything.
So, you know the Toyota didn't learn lessons.
Actually diesel. How hot would that actually get?
Well, funny you say that. Because people who are boredom
to toe, they come into work and they tell us all their stories.
That means the 10 speed transmission doesn't like towing, it just keeps fluctuating through years and then all you hear is the turbo spooling.
Because it's trying to actually go somewhere because the IT just doesn't have the amp the the V8 used to have.
So not what they used to be. The top of the Range 300 series
costs $156,000 and I've driven 1.
Like that is a lot of money for. Essentially.
And is AJR Sport worth it? If you've got the money, go for
it and save it. The GPS was a bit cheaper.
That's again. It's only 56 three anyway.
I'll take 5. Now I've got to drive the Jr
sport. The problem that you have with
that is, again, if you're going off roading with it, there is too many electronics in that car to make it.
A liable Cotto golf riding. With let's see that's the reason
why they're giving answers are still viable option to go operating in because it's it's virtually like I think they still up until recently had one up windows.
Like it's, it's. Like if I had to choose.
If I had to choose between those two, I'd choose the Ranger.
Well, OK, really like you have a you have a range of a really angry so. I'll have a Ranger over cruiser
anywhere the way they're just more reliable.
Yeah. The Toyota is like the the 79
cruiser is yeah again. That is reliable, but it's
uncomfortable. It's a you and you.
Basically you're driving, you know, a box on wheels.
Or is it the range? At least you're comfortable.
In the 300 series. Those reliability arranged will
never be as reliable as 79 series.
Like I don't care what's done to that Ranger.
I don't really have many that come into existence, but you don't have more prolific. Right you more problems are
gonna be around as. Well, some of these cars get
killed out, go out for driving. So these cars get kitted out so
you could show them off at the. Cabin in the app graph.
They have books like, oh, I could do this, you know, getting ready to go next summer, next summer.
It's always next. Summer.
No, that's that. That's the 79 owners come going
to the Kimberleys next summer. So, yes, so you said that five
years ago actually. Speak of the 79, we had a 76
series that came in for work. The waggon version.
Hmm. That this guy bought it from
Queensland. It's I think it's for sale at
the moment. It's got a. 4 inch lifts, stupid
tyres and I think it's either 30 sevens or 40s on it.
And this car in Queensland used to run 10 1/2 seconds in the quarter. What?
Yeah, I've seen videos of it, but I've got to drive it into the to the back. The thing drives like a pig.
It's got the the B&M ratchet shifter.
Yeah, it's got one of those as well, but the things just up peaked at drive like you, you wouldn't be driving it anywhere except offer. Yeah, I think that counts for
sale for like 250 grand. Yeah, that's insane.
High Ice has been a has been a legend of the game for years.
It's they Do people move it as well as just your standard van?
There's no Terrago tell you that.
No, Terrago, which is the which the Grand Villa is the is, is the replacement, but it is, it is known, Tarago.
I will agree with that. So.
I want to talk about their cars now.
So Yaris and Yaris GR. So like the normal years is a
bit boring, but the Yaris G as we know is a bit of a.
Bit of a rocket ship. What do you think of the of the
RGR gentleman? Perfect.
That's of massive coal. Well, it's does everything that
majority people want. I mean, I never ever read a bad
review on it. Yeah, unless you can find you're
free to show me a bad review. But I've never seen one from
anybody. No one's bad mouth that.
No one's given anything that negative to it.
It's just come from nowhere and done what every car enthusiast wants. And start with warranty backed
up with such a powerful 3 cylinder that can handle so much more extra power. How much was the one that that
was? Andrew Hawkins, How much was his
make up? Was it like 300 kills?
It was like it was something insane.
Someone thought it was insane amount that thing and that's from a little 3 cylinder so. I mean, everything's holding up
the transmission and everything for it.
They're pushing and pushing it, not really breaking yet.
And was taking it like a champ, too, Like it was just loving the boost. So yeah so yeah I'm a big fan of
that same drivetrain bigger car GI Corolla I think the new corals are really good looking car.
So we'll cover both here. We'll cover the new Corolla and
the and the Corolla GR basically all that the RGR is but I think better I think I think it looks better and I think it's you know if it's more practical provided you don't get the Maritza addition which is the you know the the the the only two seater version. You know it's it's it's a it's a
more usable hot hatch and I and I think, I think it's, I think it's a cracking guy. Yeah, even just a base.
Corolla look fantastic. Yeah, absolutely.
I. Couldn't think that they've done
well on that market. So even if you can't afford the
GR ones, they still look great as opposed to the Yaris.
Given that. Really boring.
Um, but in comparison with just the base Corolla?
Yeah, you can't go wrong. They look really, really good.
Great cars. Yeah, I feel like if you wanted
something to like replace some kind of an STI or something more competitive against a golfer, you definitely look at that Corolla, you're nice, you know, 4 doors.
You can still use the utilise the car nicely, but there's something obviously because the the the earth came first, the GRE earth and it's just that, I don't know.
It's just got that little pocket rocket.
Thing done really well. Whereas if I have to choose
between the two, I'd probably choose the iris.
Knowing that this is just gonna be my, like, fun car, yeah.
Whereas again, like if I was being like alright, like I can't get STR because they're available anymore.
Don't wanna go far because goals are shit.
You know the the Corolla is fully aware.
Yeah I'd I'd had to given that a store sensible kind of car underneath you know or at least on the surface with all the bells, whistles and all the power and the order our system.
So I think they're both very good cars.
That's probably one of the more cooler cars of that Toyota is producing and we're quite thankful for it because again you know with some you know there's no Evos anymore no STR.
Now you still have the rest but still has no STI and that sort of thing. It's nice to have something else
come in. At least I can try some some
similar feelings, at least for a lot of people.
Will you write Alan like there's no?
There's no Subaru WRX STI when there's a WRX, which is its closest competitor, I'd say. But there's no Mitsubishi Evo.
There's no Focus Rs. There's no like the only thing
that kind of kind of combats it now really for the all wheel drive hot hatches is a golf R. Like because like the Golf.
Sorry because the WRX waggon it only comes as a as a CVT which is very disappointing because I think I think the the waggons are good looking car. You know I go for a Corolla GR
or or you know all Dr Golfer. I think I know what I'd be
taking to to be fair 9 times out of 10.
But it also leads into the fact that there is still you know another option out there that the civic type are which comes into play. But it's not all drive.
So for a car it's got all your usability and all your fun in any way you go. Snow, rain, whatever you want.
I think the cology yards are all the RF that matters.
A real winner. I wouldn't roll out the the ends
either. I30 ends good car.
I think they they sit more competitively I guess with the.
The Honda Civic being full driver.
Yes, true. But, but but given driven on
I-30 in wonderful car. Yeah, I've driven one and I
absolutely adored it. I thought this.
I thought it was awesome. Yeah, would wouldn't recommend
GR86 and G are super annexed. Neil, 86, came out in 2013.
Originally I kind of blew the world away like an affordable sports car. The new one is still affordable
but it's now I think a better. It looks better and it's got
more power and more torque and doesn't have the the talk dippers the people were saying it was was having.
I think it's I think it's a cracking car.
I would personally love one, provided you don't take it on track and blow it up as per what everybody else is doing because it's getting RTV in the in the in the pickup.
But I think that's a I think. That's why you don't have a
proper oil pan gasket. That's my question.
Yeah. You're selling a car for
$48,000. Yeah.
Put on proper oil pan gasket. They.
Think people are going to do with it?
What was it made for to handle really well?
Where are they going to take it? To the truck.
KFC drive through my stupid delta handling.
Challenge they're taking it to a Porter is get it right.
You know, like that's that's where you take your.
True. That's that's where the rooms
are really challenged. But, but like, well, the the
fact that like, yeah, and a lot of that they they they were fighting against saying well we're not warranted.
We're not warranting it overseas and everything.
I mean, this is a car, like, you know?
What they should have done I should have said stop production or all the ones have been sold bringing back replace the the the seal and put it probably gasket there or something and then cause that's the only issue with the cause.
The car is perfect so once they fixed that issue up I think that'll be a cracking thing. Just Subaru things Subaru likes.
Subarus like to blow up for some for some reason.
I don't know who did the colour choices on this, but the base white colour it's called white liquid.
I feel like somebody probably why should have made it happen, you know ran their by couple of people before I decided white liquid is going to be the. Sound that good?
Does it? No.
But see, Toyota don't really. The only question?
That don't really kind of like have fun names for their colours, like they've got stark red and blue.
And magnetic grey. They're like it's like they
don't really like put like exciting name like tangerine screen. Ice.
Yeah, the most exciting thing goes ice.
Silver metallic. That's like a Gatorade flavour
or something. No, I completely agree with you.
It's like they started what, what's like 48 grand and then they go all the way to, you know, yeah.
All the way up but. But you know like cracking from
all accounts cracking car like really really fun car I I I would love one I would absolutely love one.
I think the thing would be caught and I love how the how the the clusters kings like looks like a boxer engine I think. I think that's genius.
But that gets us to the next management, so, so that's not really a Toyota, it's more of a Subaru, but this one we're going to more of a BMW. And built by BMW.
It's the best BMW. BMW actually sell.
But they don't sell because Toyota solid for them it's the Toyota. The current Gen Supra.
Now, Adrian. You're BMW, man.
Thoughts on the supra? Not a fan.
OK, it's not a fan. It's a glorified Z4.
How's that? Well, in most of most accounts
it's a better Zed for it's it's more more rigid.
Yeah, it's it is better in very comments.
Um. I think it's a good looking guy.
In a few soon a few in real life and I can look quite hot.
I would. I would happily have a supra.
And then but, but the the only issue is with learning that cars every time. Every time I take it anyway, I
was like, oh, nice BMW bro. I'll be like, thanks man.
Yeah, and that would get old really quickly.
But apart from that, I think I'd rather 400 say.
Yeah, but the the Super is more focused so.
That that's funny. That's that you spend another 35
grand on the car to to solve A2J in it.
Like it's not just me jumping right.
I'm gonna smoke you. I I think it's an overall good
car, like I did not appreciate the looks initially from the especially the the more concept models.
It's kind of grown on me. The looks, especially the rear
end, is lovely. The front runner I think could
use some work somewhere in there, but the rears are slowly.
It's just pricing wise, the cars hard to justify and also obviously if you put the BMW part aside.
It becomes like it's once you reach that I guess 75 plus range, right, Because even the the golfers and civic type bars and stuff, they've all done that creep from like that 60 point to that the mid 70s, in some case high 70s.
These cars, like they, you know, especially with the cost of everything else, they're not attainable anymore.
And I'm not saying the original super was terrible because first of all, salty as signal in in a lot of markets that got priced out. But you're comparing it with
something like a Nissan Z, which you can't get your hands on.
But still, you know, even that little extra price price saving you're getting there, that's kind of again enough to pull somebody away. It was like, look, it's real
drive, front engine, twin turbo, you know, I'm getting a little bit more power in the Z. Why wouldn't go for that as long
as I can, you know? Because even the Super
availability is not great, you still gonna be waiting ages.
So we got that current proposition is is probably the more difficult part. If these cars were still able to
hold that, we'll call it sub $80,000 price point, they would be far more kind of you know, I'd say they probably sell far more better and you know I would be far less reluctant to kind of again recommend it like same as the Mustangs as well, they're climbing price but you can still get yourself a Mustang sub 80.
And these are like you know 2 door sports cars, front engine, rear wheel drive. That's where I feel the price of
the market should be kind of pushed.
But given that you know these cars going to cost, going to cost, it's not always practical for the company Salem that way.
It's just I feel how long are they going?
How long they keep the car going?
See I think the issue. Is obviously not.
I think the issue with that, I'm sorry to interrupt you, is because it's based on a BMW, which is already $100,000 car.
If they're selling it for like 20 grand cheaper, you know BMW is going to lose sales and going to crack it despite them making the car. So they've had the price it
accordingly. Which, to be fair in the grand
scheme of things, is cheap when you compare it next to a 779 series. When crews are with with
optional, it's over with. Now standard with air
conditioning, so. Yeah, well, I mean it's it's
horses for courses, I suppose you could say and you know, depending on depending what you gonna use the car for, if you're gonna really enjoy it. But I guess when when BMW and
Toyota kind of met and said well, you you can, we can give you as we can, we can give you the base for a Supra but you're gonna have to price it, you know fairly and not undercut us otherwise not gonna give you the car.
Got about 200 in a bit of a disadvantage.
So cause how often do you see a super on the road?
Not often. You know, I mean like how often
do you see Mustangs on the road? I see them virtually every day.
So I I think, I think that. So what was that, Scotty?
Oh, always Mustangs everywhere. So so that kind of puts in a
perspection into perspection ohk God's perspective the you know the the you know the attainable price difference because like 10 to 20 grammes a lot for some people you know it's official from anybody it's a lot of money so so when you when you're creeping up 2030 grand over the visually you can get the same simple similar driving experience 2 door real drive manual high performance car you know is it really worth it unless you really really you know into a super and the model accounts every review I've read for over watch the Super it's
fantastic like it is a brilliant.
Jason Comma you did a really good one on the history of the Super and and said it's the it's the best BMW BMW make.
But. Again, you know the the, the
price it, it's quite expensive and to be fair that though the new, the new, the new Zed's not not out, not out of the picture either, but it's also very expensive too.
So you know I've only seen one or two on the road in the in the last eight months or so. So you know they were expecting
a lot of it because I still see, I still see a few 350Z and 370Z getting around. But this one I was expecting to
see a bit more of, but I haven't really at all.
So I guess pricing really comes, it comes into play here.
Yeah. And if obviously yeah and also
again with that pricing is if you are the type of person who's gonna swing 100 ish $1000 car. Obviously this, this was
brackets of income and that sort of thing.
Again, you know, financial viability.
But if you are the person that's going to swing that you may not be that far away from the person that can kind of swing for an AR Gulia Quadrifoglio or like an M3 or something.
Because yes the price is going up.
But if you're already swinging for a car, you know, 2 door car or you know just say performance kind of car that's in that 100 grand plus bracket. Most of the time you're looking
like sports cars are like 100 grand like on the money or like, you know, plus or ±10 grand, They're kind of in a no man's land in terms of, in terms of the automotive and in terms of automotive pricing space, right. Because like anything under 80
is kind of like inverted commas attainable.
Anything over 100 grand is like, well, you got, you got to have money to do it. So why would you, Why would you
buy something with a with a Toyota badge when you could buy something with a with a with a BMW badge?
You know, for the, you know for the same, if not more, money?
You know and people be like always driving BMW when it's obviously it is less superior to to the Super that they sell.
But having said that. Or is it kind of similar?
No, I think, I think they're they're both got five years.
I think from from from all accounts it's not bad.
Yeah. So it it'll break 2 days out of
warranty though that, that that that's that's that's the thing W. But I I honestly think you know
I think they're in a bit of a an omens and like I think that the newness and see will be and I think the new Mustang will be as well because the new Mustang it's the pricing going up in the dark was like 120 grand. I'm like who's gonna spend 20
grand Mustang like I'd I'd you know I'd there's plenty of other cars I'd buy for for for the money.
What about the GTD that they just brought out?
But that's like a virtually a race car, so and it's not coming here, but that's going to be like what, $300,000?
Like, it's ridiculous. I think the the the bracket.
That we're sports cars used to be just shifting up now.
Yeah. Because I don't know, kind of on
topic, got off topic if you notice those, if you saw those old Coles adds to make your meal with Curtis Stone tend to make your meal for 10. And how much that's actually
gone up now you got no hope. It's like gone up by, you know,
well over 50% of what. It is that was already a scam
when it started. That was you know like 10 bucks.
You can buy those same items and you're looking at over 20 bucks now over those years. I guess it kind of makes sense
that. So you're sports cars are going
to start shifting and going up to you in price?
You know you're struggling when Curtis Stone can't figure out a meal for your other $10.00, so repeat to feed your family.
Impossible now. I saw, I saw a meme of that
recently. It's like it had a picture of
him with with you holding the tender and feed your $10.
And then it's like, yeah, I'm doing, it's a packet of chips and some tomato sauce and it was just like, yeah.
Yeah, that's about it. I was gonna say even like the
G86. You could get your bum one of
those for about 35. Yeah, when they first came out,
drive away. Yeah.
Yeah, and now the cheapest 1 available is 48600.
So you like just a different, obviously there's inflation that's occurred in the, in the time period, the 10 years or so that the cars released. But that became a car that like
you probably shouldn't buy as a player because given how the pricing is. But a lot of people, players did
buy brand new tunnel car that you have to be, you know, ideally graduated, working a job, that sort of thing, for a couple of years. And then you put your money down
to buy this car and have to earn it for a long period of time.
Like the original 8/6. They all been.
Around all the time but the new one.
Yeah. So like, yeah, again as.
Your engine replacement. Push.
The the whole, I guess Paradigm cars have shifted into a little more expensive than even though we got electric cars coming in as well. So there'll be some young people
that are just purely into that. Wages didn't follow suit.
They didn't. Nope.
And Speaking of ages, Dean Andrews, if you're listening.
You know, offering free teaching.
Because you got a teacher shortage.
How about you fix up our our hex debts that that have people that are still teaching. Yeah, but it's just offering it
to people teaching secondary. Yeah, it's it's insane.
It's so anyway, sorry about the mess.
Most of them are for primary and secondary 1, so it doesn't really help anybody. It's not going to bring anyone
in. Anyway, that's that's a that's a
whole whole other story. Idiot.
So, so super grey car. Probably just a little bit
expensive. And getting to the other cars,
the Camry, they're one of their longest serving nameplates.
Been around forever? It's the automotive equivalent
of a fridge. I always like a Camry.
I think they are, they are very good.
My Sri Lankan mechanic calls it the Sri Lankan Rolls Royce for fair reason because it is, it is a reliable and you know, comfortable and they do everything kind of car.
You about to add something to that I think.
No, I was gonna say it is like just too, like we've got the pollination Chariots and everything else.
This is, you know, this is the brown man's kind of the brown man's, as you said, Rolls Royce. It is.
It is what we roll around it. It is what gets work done.
Gets it. Gets the people delivered, Does
it? Gets it?
They delivered. Does it just spread through that
that culture into everyone's like you know and you're going to buy car and just everyone's got camera?
Yeah, the moment. The moment you land in Australia
and you call up your family and like any car, like hybrid Camry.
Therefore, we got one ready for you later everywhere.
Seriously. Like it went, it went from Camry
and to LPG Falcon and it was back to Camry so that that that is essentially where where, where, where the the taxis and the rivers of the world are currently.
I need to bounce. Easy.
Done everything. Come on, man, we'll we'll talk
to you. Somebody we'll talk to him.
All good. Thank you SO.
Much goodbye. Like, it's a real great car.
You know it starts off at a reasonable price, which is something you can't really say for a lot of cars these days, especially for. Yeah, and you know you're
getting. I'd say a relatively good, you
know, engine tech reliability and if you do want the hybrid option, there's that from all accounts everyone that I talked to, which is a lot of brown people, the hybrid does save you quite a bit of change with as long as you're driving responsibly. Um, and if you're again using
this car for some kind of work purpose, which of these people are you? Make back your money that you
pay extra in the hybrid very easily.
You just, you know, you you you doing well for the environment slightly. You know you're not in those,
not in many as many greenhouse gases.
And. You know, usually making
yourself some sort of change in some corner of people transport through transport or any other transport business.
It's funny. Like we could probably do a
whole episode about like you know what what's what what sort of ethnic ethnicity. Dr Certain cars.
You know, like it's it's it's but like it's it's it's actually it's actually a thing. Like it's actually legit a
thing. But we'll we'll we'll have to
keep keep that, keep that for now for another so that's for the episode when we get cancelled.
So, but all around that episode. But the only thing.
About we'll make sure we have enough ethnic people in.
In that episode. I could be like, no, we're just
talking about her ethnicity. I just gotta watch what I say.
You'll be like He's the proper, he's the proper nouns and pronouns for it. They're like, for example,
right? I I like the camera I always
have. My mom owns a Camry and she
loves it. I'm just disappointed that they
got rid of the V6 option, like it was kind of the sporty performance camera and the cameras were quick man, like like V6 cameras are were generally a quick car.
So it's a little bit disappointing that that they don't they don't sell them. They even offered like
supercharged ones in the state you could buy a Supercharger, TRD made a Supercharger kit for it like they did.
They need some really cool stuff to kind of spruce up the Camry and um, but yeah, they don't really have a sporty camera anymore. So it's just kind of it's become
a bit more transporting and it's it's a bit of a car for me.
I think it's a good looking car, but it's just a bit of a.
Mess I think. I think they have default for
the the rules from. Mike Hamilton just start
offering Kovic memories and good at that one.
He is good with what we obviously touching the how much we like that. Now that gets us through our
last couple calls for Toyota and that I think that will take us through our quiz the the SUV. The card everyone wants to know
about The poster. Yes, correct.
Which is 22% there. That is exactly what you want.
I I I I would I would seriously have one it it it fix a lot of problems. Yaris crossed Chr the Corolla
across the rough for the Kluger, the Fortuna, the Prado, and the language three. So we'll call the Lakers are
300. We've covered fortune now
because Fortune is basically a a high lux anyway, just with seven seats. So that leaves us with Prado,
which is the baby. The baby cruiser probably
probably wouldn't buy it now you'd wait for the new one, I'd say, cause the new ones been been released.
So I I wouldn't, I wouldn't buy once you get a really good price on it. Kluger is sticking around.
It is a big, huge, not a night monitoring, boring car, horrible driving dynamics. Like, not not a good car.
Like, it'll be reliable and it'll work, but you know, not really the nicest car to drive. Just big and boring.
Rather four though, the rough four I actually quite like.
Have you guys driven in the current general rifle?
And I have another opportunity. I've driven both the hybrid and.
Non human on the road where? There is heat.
So what was what was asking? Have you get your hand on hybrid
one? So Steph's brothers got on the
hybrid one hybrid crime drove that for a few days.
And yeah, it was really, really, really cool.
I was actually playing that with the eco game, trying to keep it in in full battery mode until it hits a certain rib like speed.
So I was trying to keep it there like through the city streets and every time like that in the Honda Insight.
It's good. It's good colour, so you try and
keep it in the green and not go blue to save and there's another function, it's got pictures of trees.
See the trees you're saving. So the more trees on the screen
the better you're going. So try and get all the trees.
Illiterate, I I still think hybrids are probably the best option for us currently. I just still electric cars with
more coal fire today. Do you guys want to see the ones
that caught fire at Sydney Airport?
So Long story short, I don't think the technology is just there yet, but hybrids are, They seem to be a bit safer, But yeah, really liked about four. It's the reason there's a reason
why it's got like an 18 month waiting list for one.
They are really, really a decent car.
Corolla Cross Haven't seen too many of those.
Again all all these cars like are Kluger Rafael Corral across Chr and Yaris Cross are available with a hybrid.
Corolla Cross. It just looks a bit frumpy for
me. I I don't know.
Have you have you guys. What do you think about it?
I just don't really. I don't think it looks like it's
a good looking car. It looks nothing like a.
Crank. Yeah, I don't think about it.
So nothing. Yeah, it's it's a nothing car
for me. What about you, Alan?
Neil's gonna say just like looks like a bit of a like other smaller raffle, like smaller club or something.
It's not really. Doesn't feel like it's a
corollary anyway, yeah. Um, CCHR is kind of funky
looking, but it's quite long in the tooth now.
Still, still, still still a cool car.
Yaris Cross's Mum's got one. I think it's OK, but it's a
little bit boring. So.
But that's just me, but ridiculously good on fuel.
Like the fact that they need, what, eight different?
You know, SUV sized vehicles like in the range for a person just can't figure out. Like he's got big, medium, Well
now you need like big, medium, small, medium, small, small.
I mean BMW. All the Mazda theories One.
Yeah, Mazda 2, they're so small. And then they make any TV
version of it's already small. Like it's it's crazy.
I mean like you may you may as well just drive a Yaris at that point like you know like there there is really there is really no point. But.
Like instead of cars have what 4IN Newton vans, you know they've got five and performance they've got four, SUV's, eight.
You need eight different choices.
And and they get in the principle basically small and small I guess to try and and attract younger buyers to to get into into a small car cause gone are the days where you can get your like your little your little Mazda 3 you know cheap So and I and I think that they're pricing the you know your Mazda threes and well key areas have been discontinued now and and all that like the pricing them out there.
So the point there well I could spend an extra 500 bucks and get and get a get an SUV with high riding more safe.
So I think they've they've they've done themselves some bit of mischief in that, but that's just me everybody wants to just.
Pretty much like we all sit higher and then tailgate.
You they need to do that test where the the basically you do have to do Scandinavian flick and every car that sold in the past that because the big old issue is never do that always flip feel like that needs to be like a like a possible test here to sell a car. It's called the old test.
Especially because because because we've got, we've got wildlife that come out on the road all the time and you know you could be doing that. Next thing you know you only
flipped up on the on your roof. I don't think so.
The cars sold in Australia had a warning on it that send it can happen. Yeah, you pulled down the.
I think he pulled down the sun visor.
It's got it all written there. Yeah.
Yeah. And I can see why.
You know that thing was wobbly. Yeah.
Alright, so I'm gonna quickly run through and one more time.
And so standard Yaris yay or nay, or may man.
The purpose of the yeah. Corolla hatch and Corolla sedan.
Yay. Yeah.
Camry. Definitely a double thumbs up.
Yeah, it serves a good purpose. Corolla sorry, Yaris Cross.
Everything. Everything in the SUV's except
for Rav 4. Probably.
We'll give it a night. Yes, same.
Language Land Cruiser 300 series.
Too expensive? Name No.
Prado. Man.
That's a bit old man nice. Just a minute.
And Fortuna, we'll cover with We'll cover with what's it called, Hilux. So, filtering Hilux, Yanni, Just
me. Man.
Land Cruiser 70 Series No. Natural Too expensive.
Stupid money and Granville. You got a big family.
Yeah. They do what you want it to do.
But would you take a Grandview? Would you take a carnival?
I'd have a carnival, to be honest with you.
I first of all take him. I think they'd be better quick.
Now something some really good. Or like an al grand or something
if I can get that important. Yeah, I would have a carnival
cause new carnival looks really good and it drives and they and they drive really well like they they drive on the interior looks fantastic in them too. Yeah, yeah, they're really nice.
And full amount of people that fit the overall size and everything. I'm pretty sure overall
dimensions are smaller than my Dmax.
Well, yeah, I'm sizes your Hilux.
I mean, anyway. Yes.
So it will get into parking and everything else and you've got, you know, if you've got a big family or you just ethnic, you know it. It keeps keeps everyone in
there. I'm going to lose my viewers.
It is more practical than Hilux. A carnival.
Get one of those because you can.
You can put seeds down. You got a whole.
It's a Van Costar. You you.
You will be. You will be, yeah.
Yeah. And the last one.
Yeah, Austria, yeah. Yeah.
G 86 Yep. Corolla GI think, I think we're
all going to be yay for that. Yeah, I think so.
GR Supra. We were half, yeah.
Yeah. It's hard to say a full day, but
I do like it. You've got lots of positivity
about. It would be good to see how it
goes in the used market in a few years time.
Yeah, no, it it will be good. It's been, it's been used
Toyotas. I was looking at cars yesterday.
And I kind of got a little bit jaded up, Scotty.
You can get ISF that are imported for like around 30 grand. Yeah, you can.
Yeah, that is, that is a lot of car for 30 crates.
Hmm. Don't take.
Yeah, yeah, like this twin Turbo ones and all sort things getting around. So they are, they are very, very
cool. Yeah, probably about that much
if you import it yourself, cause dealers are importing them some for about 38. I thought I was just be wary,
really bad ones out there trying to come in.
Yeah. Just get a good one and you will
have M3/C3 performance reliably. That's our top tip of the night.
Scotty, you've got a car quiz for us or is it was a cryptic cars. It is cryptic because.
OK. Elements Mono, E, Mono this time
around. Alright, I'll do my best.
There is and 10 questions only. Ohk OK and there's no movies.
It's all just cars. Hmm.
OK, first one. This one is Ford.
It's a Ford breeze. Or if you're good with your
Latin, it means West wind. Was sold in Australia?
Don't think so, I can take a quick look.
Was made for the British market. Means dreams.
Um. Um, supposedly we assembled them
here too. Wow, I didn't know that.
Yeah, I've got no idea on that one.
Good. He I I think I'm out.
Ammeter They made a mark one. They made a Mark 2, Mark 3.
Well, it can't be eschool because that, that, that's, that's, yeah, that's something else.
So maybe it was a bit tricky to start everything.
Off. Maybe it's a forge, I don't
know. Should I ran OHS alum?
4 typhoon No. It's the wind I'll tell you with
related with adjacent. I wanna say Ford.
Anglia, I don't know. Nah, this is Zephyr.
Ohe Zephyr. OK, yeah.
Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah.
So in Latin that means West, wind and just other synonyms, and that for it is breeze. And few other ones mean the same
thing. Question two is probably just as
tricky because I didn't even know this.
I don't know, maybe you're smarter than me.
It's a Chevrolet and it could be a Chevrolet.
Gunboat, frigate, destroyer. All the same thing.
Thank you, Matthew. Chevrolet Cobalt.
No, no, not Cobalt. Let's just say the cobalt to
cool looking car. Especially when you get
supercharged 1. Yeah.
You said frigate gunboat. So I'm.
I'm giving you some kind of to do with the Navy.
OK, yeah. Well, Cherie Cavalier, No.
You're all getting the sea bit right though.
Anyone know what it is now? Matthew.
Haven't done nothing. Buddy, did we get another guess
age? Cause we got like no idea, yeah
why not? Corsair starting off.
No, no, of course not. Another C word.
Come on, alum. Yeah, for Shiv.
Does it end in the letter O Scotty?
No. OK.
Let's see we've been like relationship or related to like.
See the latency? That's with CC, as in the letter
C starts with. C.
OK, cool there. Yes, Covic, no.
That damn it, should have said Corvette.
OHS. That's what that means.
What the hell? Yeah yeah yeah what to do and
everything like that. When I googled and have I read
about it. Yeah.
OK. Let's see.
Here we go. Question three.
Question three, I word it a little bit differently, but it it all makes sense when you hear this is an Aston Martin and the word I'm looking for is in Nordic mythology.
So an Aston Martin something? Matthew.
Matthew. Aston Martin.
Vanquish. No, not Vanquish.
Hell. Alarm.
If the Valkyrie isn't it, it is the Valkyrie.
Well done. Well done, question #4, the four
bird of prey. So, Matthew Hallum.
Falcon. Not the Falcon.
Unfortunately, I will. Give.
I'll take half the food. I'll give him half.
That's half. That's fine.
But if you get it right, Maddie, you get one full point for it.
Better pray. Well, I was going to say the
Falcon. To be fair.
OHS Geez. Oh God, I don't know what else
birds up. They've called Eagle.
Nah, not Eagle. It was the Raptor.
OHS There's a Raptor, A bit of Bray?
Yeah, any kind of Raptor. Raptors linking back to all your
Raptors from dinosaurs. They're all connected.
OK, this is true. Question five is 2 words you
need to decipher for this card. Yeah, I've got it written as the
Triumph Dribble Shoot. Matthew.
Matthew. Spitfire.
Yes, big fire. Board there's not too many views
from, is there? No.
Alan, do you wanna go check? Just putting it out there.
What's the weather? Right from here, we'll keep.
It now OK Question 6. The Ferrari?
Superb. Speedy alum.
You said Ferrari supposed to be right?
Yeah, I know it is. Yeah.
God, this doesn't do my tongue. What we're doing this?
Um. Super fast, yes, yes.
Got it. Just like I had it when I had
the Internet. I'm like just.
Such a funny night. Because I was like 12/12/12,
yes, the one just after the, I think it's just after the F12, isn't it? Then it goes to the 812 super
fast. Question seven, we're moving to
AMC now, AMC, Lance. Matthew, Matthew.
Yes, AMC, Javelin. Pretty good looking car.
I like that we're jumping over. Well, we're staying in America
with this one. Question 8.
The mercury Raider or plunderer? Matthew.
Matthew. They They had an Eliminator.
Was it The Eliminator? Not the Illuminator?
No. If Alan gets it wrong, I'll
throw in a clue. OK.
Some mercury, you said. Mercury Raider or plunderer?
Wonder, especially Marotta. Yeah, got it.
So I think that's a great name for.
Such a cool name and a cool looking car too.
Yeah, it really is. Badass.
OK, you need to switch on your Spanish for this one.
OK, so this word is going to be in English, but it's the same word in Spanish, so it said something different and it's the Porsche race or Porsche. Race not in Space was.
Just wish I had my housemate. Yeah, she should be able to tell
me. Also race.
Matthew Love. I'll have a punt, Macan.
No, not McCann. Yeah, can't be the Porsche GT3
is. That's what.
It narrows it down quite a bit because you know it's gonna roll out your GT3 GT Twos GT fours. Cause all the numbers, then you
got the. The.
The boxer is a thing, came in the little crocodile thing, man.
Or 11. Career.
Yeah, it was awesome. Look current.
Like came in. No, that's that's an animal.
It's kind of chilly. Panameras.
I've just think of Panera Bread, Panera Bread.
I don't think it's correct. Got a feeling both of you will
know this last one, Question 10, so get ready to say your names.
This one is the Mercedes AMG Mallet.
Matthew Allen, alum, Guardian. Ohf what?
Alright, to the quick flick. I'm not.
I know it was not. Know your intent must suck.
Yes, it is. OK, alright, so he gets it.
Yeah, yeah. Well, you, if you absolutely
stole to me tonight, Alan, you've gotten 5 1/2.
So 5 1/2 you scores. Well done.
Well done, well done. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you, Scotty for the good
questions. Is there anyone you want to say
yes somewhere? Just Scotty and myself, of
course. Love it.
Though that was good. When I was pretty hot tonight, I
was freaking hot. Yeah, I mean, my most of them I
would have never got. Unless that wasn't for me
searching, you know, a lot deeper into those questions and the answers and that for it, I I really wouldn't have known.
I was just kind of going through some really good car names and just seeing if they had a meaning or anything behind it to turn into questions. So yeah, really interesting.
Very cool. I think that's a show, John.
I think the podcast. Yes, it is.
Go to Doe. You've got to be the golf tip of
the week is nice weather coming around.
Nice and simple Tip. Get out there, enjoy it.
Have fun even if you are playing.
Horrible. That's probably one of the best
tips of Scotty. Have fun.
You're not going to get that. It's not in a competition,
you're not having a competition. Get out, hit the ball,
concentrate on the good shots. You do remember the good shots
because everyone remembers the negative all the time with everything. Negativity sticks in your longer
than anything positive. Absolutely.
Just remember those positive shots, take photos of it so you remember those positive tee offs you did and things like that.
It's good. You heard it here first.
Also, slip, slop, slap if you're playing this weekend, Yes, very.
