"What are you thinking? Other off with thinking like it's gotta be something German, something European, you know, like, I don't know what what I came down to there was like you know my manual 9/11 GT2 GT Grove one of those or like an E92M3 manual box. Yeah. But. Thinking more about it, it's"

This is professional. Radio has front wheel drive.
Have you got anyone you want to think?
Just myself and then I would do the after hours.
Gentlemen, what would you go for?
Thanks CSN. There.
OK. And because there's not a
supercar, there is. It's not.
Order ready. Perfection comes in the form of
two letters A&U. Long live my Ltd.
Welcome to Constitution, out here on 8.9 NW FM.
It's me, Mary Jay online with Scotty Johnson, Mr. David
Prince, and back again. Dad, you're.
Back already. It's very back.
I thought we got, we got rid of. The Yeah, you can't.
Get rid of that. And yeah, everybody's story
guys. You know it's a small world,
right, General like this morning I was, I was at the show was getting getting a few little things so some gifts for for my my my work colleagues and the woollies.
I mean I still call it Safeway. I don't know you still.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, and from there and I'm
about to pay for my my goods and I recognise this good looking rooster over here and and and it was like, I know this bloke.
If they can't. Yeah.
No, wait, not at all. It's don't know you know.
He's like, you got bloody hell so small world doing delivery in my area of of of of work. Yeah, I just had a couple of
jobs in that shopping centre and you know, if I had gone to the other one and before Safeway and I wouldn't have seen you have one of those things. Would have happened.
Is a tolerance. Not far far.
I'm just trying to do some stuff around the depot in the morning to keep busy. Yeah, so it was.
More than. Small, small world indeed.
Gets to come back on the show. Gets to, you know, talk cars for
the next hour and a little bit with the with the other legends we've got on this show. Let's go around the rooms with
some updates. Scotty Doe Anything new on the
31? Updates for me and the brakes
arrived. Yeah, that's good.
I I was getting into that. Hmm.
Oh. First I just kind of patched up
the muffler, so the exhaust. So that's done.
That was patched up and then thought I'd start tackling the callipers. Take that off, I thought it'd be
come off pretty easy. I loosened everything and the
Calpol which is not come off, was like it was seized and stuck on there, so I had to get the sledgehammer out.
Yeah. Really giving trouble.
Gave it quite a good bashing eventually, yeah, finally got it off. It was weird because the outer
pad that you usually see looked pretty much brand new, very thick, but the inner one had odd wear on it.
So this must be warped or something, I'd say.
Too many many breaking too many skids.
So yeah, probably before I got it.
Yeah. So.
If yeah. Yeah, and I was gonna put it all
back together, but obviously the piston on the rear needs to be wound back in. So I gotta buy the right tool to
do that properly and wind up back in so I can put the pads and then put the disc back on and then hook the handbrake back up again. Yeah, so that's that's all I got
done. That was, that was a few hours.
OHS. These things take time and I
think. There was some swearing
involved. From the chat we we saw, we saw
it in the messages. Oh yeah, it just won't come off.
Considering I could do the Subaru front ones and change pads and discs in about 30 minutes, this was just ridiculous. Probably while since it's been
on the road though, so it's probably, you know, like just sat for a while. Yeah, and just had seized up a
bit onto the disc on the rear. But yeah, you know nothing that
a good sledgehammer doesn't fix. Yeah.
Alright, we got triple HL with us.
Now we're using this using a social matter.
Just trying everything. I was using the breaker bar at
first. I'm like, you know that's not
working. And obviously I tried the
screwdriver where you put it in between the calliper and that, you know, pull along there, start prying it.
But it was moving such tiny little increments.
I was like, no, this is stupid. So I set the screwdriver in
there, the big thick one, and got the sledge hammer.
Just. Watch.
And start smashing it. Did you use a golf swing,
Scotty? You know because.
If I had the room I would off but.
We're. Too tight.
It's not turning off or. Yeah, yeah.
I kind of would have got it off in one swing.
More determined part was used I'm guessing.
Yeah, a little bit nicer, a little bit more of a partner.
So you use the partner, not the, not the three would.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, very good.
And hopefully I get that done this week.
Just gotta get the right thing to push the piston right?
Man, I swear that piston better push back in properly.
And why in? You said you might have the tool
for that. Yeah, I bought a like, you know,
calliper removal tool. Mark.
Howard It's got a few different attachments.
But yeah. I mean, G clamp that pushes
outward blocking off and inverse St yeah.
And yeah, it's got a few different attachments that might have one that actually goes into the Piston to, you know.
Yeah, I I saw those those ones I was, I was looking at.
They've got just super cheap in that, so by by sick one and get that done. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I was just
saying, Maddie, if you needed a map and lend it out because I don't use it. Thank you.
Yeah, no problem. That'll be, that'll come in here
because we need this car. You know, I've.
I'm not giving you. I'm not giving you a date
anymore for when it's gonna be done because I've got about five years now and I'm just, I'm just, I'm just giving up.
I'm like, it's gonna be ready by then, be ready by then.
So classic Japan. Not classic Japan has to be
ready by then. OK, well actually now that is a
date, isn't it? Yeah.
So. Preemptive booking for the for
mid Jan Scotty if you're in anywhere this week and say I don't want to before Christmas they'll they'll embrace you with open arms instead of all the other people that are ringing them saying oh I just thought I needed to get this done before Christmas. Yeah, I wanted to book it in,
you know, whenever they open back up again in the new year.
But I just want to make sure that I can do these breaks.
I didn't want to book it in and go, oh crap, I can't get it off or it's not working or I gotta take it somewhere because it's seized or something. So yeah, so I want to make sure
that's done bang then cola. OK, cool then, Prince.
Used with me oha few things this week.
What have I done. I have OHP had a have took the
M1 for a good country run on the weekend.
Had to family thing up in central Victoria so we needed two cars so he'd take the the big car and you take the spare by car. So the N1 got a lovely run,
three up and loaded up with stuff and went like a little train. So Cake has really, really
usable cars. I mean, people look at them and
laugh. I'm quite used to that after
having owned them for over 30 years.
But. But they they're just so good.
But for most things, you know, I wouldn't want to be towing a caravan or a boat or something behind it, but don't have to do that. That's not the car for that.
But for most things they're they're practical and plenty of room and sat on a hundred 110 where you could easy.
No, no problem at all. And it's only about 2400 ribs,
2600 ribs or something at 110. Pretty good.
That was really good. Yeah, it's really relaxed and.
And you see me too, Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Sits really don't sound Rd so. It's funny you say that because
like in Japan when we were there, and I don't know if you noticed, but I didn't see anything with the trailer the whole time I was there, like like telling nothing.
No. Yeah, it.
Was. Trucks.
Trucks, yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. And and trucks, yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, it's a trailer when you've
got a basically 6 by 4 trailer with a air conditioning cap and an engine attached to it, so. Yeah, pretty much.
And you know, their economy seems to work, Australia.
Yeah. The other thing we.
Could learn a thing and say do you imagine if you had a fleet of like Honda in in vans? That'd be epic.
You would get so much done, world.
Watch this space. That's the answer I think we're
going to do is we're gonna go to Star Trek and Aust post and say, look, you know, this is, you know, these big Sprinter vans and you drop a Sprinter van and drive.
OK, well. Yeah, like A10 palette.
Well yeah. Well it's it's probably is, but
it's not the answer in this case it's the the answer is Kate Kate Trucks and. K is for like for part for
parcels, definitely. Why not a Cavan or AK truck?
Absolutely. Yeah, who needs that much space?
Traffic would be great. Dry up the sidewalk if you know.
Mind you, the highest fan that delivers parcels here, Tom sign sometimes is usually jammed with the the gumball with.
Great things up. There would be two or three
trips in the K truck. I'm guessing rather than.
That'd be fun trips. What can you?
But then you got more bans, more drivers, hence creating jobs.
Yeah, correct. It's true.
Listening Australia, Yes. Yeah.
You're not. Is mentioned.
That's pretty he's absolutely ideas man.
Really just needs some jousting sticks and you're like, so, so yeah, no, that's a I think, I think we've solved freight in Australia. Yeah, yeah, I think, I think you
go looking for your first. Kenworth badge on them.
You know, easy or something. Doing a bit of off badging.
Yeah. OK.
Trucks. So, cartoon top tip.
With what? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You want you want to get the country mobilised?
Also, I have these for a couple of weeks, family members headed overseas and left their car in safekeeping with me of a of his 330I M Sport waggon current model which I which is very very nice to drive. Understandably perfect it to be.
Sorry, it's a very flushing. Looking thing, It's very flashy
looking thing. I did work on a M3 touring the
other day touring which had the and that's got the pumped out guards. So I've got to say that looks a
bit more alluring into touring. That looked very cool with pump
out guards but but you know as a I've looked at these waggons, I don't think they don't, I don't think they do a non M Sport waggon. Every waggon I've seen on the
road seems to be an M Sport look.
It's the blue stitching is nice and stuff drives really well.
Really you need some familiarisation with the gauges and the buttons and the screens and all that sort of thing to make the thing work. Got the phone connected?
That was significant for me there and there are a whole lot of you know, other functions and stuff and the the I still haven't worked out how to turn off all the driver assist stuff but. Got a question.
What level of phone connection did you have?
Did you just have Bluetooth? Did you have Bluetooth streaming
or did you have Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Like like what tier did you? Were you connected?
The second the. Second.
OK. Well, OK, halfway there.
Halfway there. I need that person to call
around and help us with Apple CarPlay again.
Sure should have helped yesterday I was there.
Should I didn't think of that. Didn't think of that.
And look at as I said it's great to drive beautifully.
Beautiful, smooth deliberation, delivery of power.
One of the brakes quite grabby. It's hard to come to a smooth
stop. They seem to really bite in and
I mean all European cars eat through the brakes and I think, I think I'm beginning to realise why it's probably.
Worth. 2 1/2, three times what the Z RV's worth the 2 1/2 three
times is good. No, no, it's not.
But yeah, there's obviously premium that comes with that sort of that sort of car in government taxes and luxury car taxes and things like that. So that that knocks the price
around. It's interesting in Europe
because I mean they're quite, you know, they're all in the same boat over there. So I mean they're not seen as
quite the premium thing that they're they're here.
It's you know the equivalent like Benz and BMW's and Audis in Germany, like the equivalent of the old Ford Holden and Chrysler Daisy here really out there. It's just what they build and
what's what's the local car sort of thing available, but might you? Available in all different specs
and fabric interiors and manual gearboxes and things.
This is pretty well loaded, but not very pleasant to drive and.
Probably not. Probably not.
I think there's, you know, as I said, I don't think it's double twice as good as what I've got. So yeah, but it's all nice all
the same. Do like the panoramic sunroof,
but on my sunroof guy. So you.
Know. I couldn't get that in the in
the least, tragically. But the other thing to have some
new number plates and I've got another Car Talk top tip for you. So I've got had.
My God, can't even see that now. I've just changed the plates on
the M1 is to keep my personalised plates on retention because who knows what's gonna happen in the next little while.
So then I've got some of these horrible you know, one letter, one number, two letter combinations, but Car Talk top tip obviously being a car. The Japanese style plates are
designed, they're the same size as the as the J in plates and you can have rather than buy new JM plates for the M1, I just got the replacement plates through Vic roads and now they're attached to that car. I can get them restyled and
that's 175 problems to get them restyled rather than $495 for a JDM plate. Hmm.
So I mean, it'll still have that silly letter number combination, but I'm not. I'm not that connected that I
want to spend another $300 to. Yeah.
To get it, get another combination for someone who's going to take that car on later I don't think, but I think it was got today and plates on it that fit properly and look good on the car, then it's it won't matter what the combination is.
Correct. On my on my course I had, I just
got the original plates restored in Japanese, in Japanese plates and was like 195 I think it was. And then yeah, yeah, it looked
good. So, so that's still on.
So yeah, I think, I think, I think that's a smart way of saving some coinage. Absolutely so, but I think
that's it for now. I think that's all I've got.
Yeah. What about you, man?
I have not done a whole bunch in terms of car stuff this week.
I don't know, just really got away from me.
So I like the time, just dealing with Christmas stuff and whatnot. Just cleaning the garage, I
think slightly. And yeah, honestly, I don't
remember touching a car in the last.
Totally, totally. Fair, Yeah.
It's just completely, yeah, not not in the fall or front of my mind at the moment. Yeah, just trying to tie up some
time to use someone's hoist to put a LSD diff in the Sylvia.
So working with a mate with that to sort of tee up, you know when he might have a spot in his shop to.
Yeah, to use the horse, just do. It'll just make it easier rather
than being a worm on my back on the cold garage floor, Yeah.
And then I'll do a few other bits like a Francois bar and some sports cap and stuff and at the same time do the bushes, Yeah. So just just sort of taking that
up to be done. Just after Christmas Outcast, I
had the Civic booked in for a 1/2 cage to get done.
Oh, cool. Because a couple of incidents
happened this year at Nuggets where it kind of, yeah, got me to, you know, think about, contemplate life decisions, contemplating, yeah, safety and whatnot and putting importance to that. So yeah, I've I've booked with a
place in Geelong, unfortunately, just having a bit of trouble communicating with them. But he did assure me that it was
booked for like the 15th of January.
So yeah, I'm going to just take a day off, drive down there and leave it for a couple of weeks to get done.
Now I can sort of forget about it and yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, that's kind of it.
Just kind of planning things for cars but not doing.
Car stuff at the. Moment, so we'll get there.
Very good. With me?
Hey, Mary. What's what's happening with
you? What's up?
What? What have you got?
Yeah, that look car stuff for the Fiesta and the Mean Tycoon on the weekend. Quite substantially actually.
I'm gonna take the Civic Type R back to Honda.
I've booked it in. It was a little bit disappointed
with the the car when we got it, not for the cars fault before the accessories that were added. Yeah.
So the passenger side illumination does not work then the door so it hasn't worked as we've got the car for the the the silver light lights up but the in the door doesn't light up and when they when they were in there they've like some of the trimmers are put back together properly and one of the clips was was not was like a bit broken and the one of the pillow plastics was was put back on but it wasn't properly it wasn't put behind the things he left a big gap about that big between the dashboard and the and the and the the door it looked horrible
and and mum picked up bloody really saying is I've been in the passenger seat until until I was like oh sorry to try Jerry that to fix it but I had a quick I had a quick look underneath the dashboard and I couldn't see anything untoward but I was like I was like look it's a new car I'll take it back to him get him to so so so that's that's booked in for the 4th of Jan also the PPF we're gonna the the guy that put her on said look it might come up in a couple of places but that's normal We'll just let us know when it does and then we'll we'll just have to stretch
it back and and put it back over the top cause it's still setting So it's come off in a in like one or two little little parts which I was expecting it to do anyway and I talked about it like yeah no worries just bring it back and we'll talk he's like daily reason that's happening because the PDF setting so he's like just needs a bit of a nip and tuck and then it'll be it'll be it'll be completely good so so so so that that's that's been locked in as well Have been noticing with the typhoon I think. I think I told you this. the IT
it drives perfectly fine. It's it's you know it it's it
does it does everything really, really well.
But occasionally when you get to it, like I said a lot something like it it's like the idols just not happy.
Like you know just and just like you know and you can feel it.
I mean I mean I can feel it like it's just I'm like this like when she was like did you feel like she's like what the hell are you talking about. But but I'm I'm yeah I know.
You know you know you can't. And it's just like it's just
like it's just. Not watched Intune with it.
Yeah. So I spoke to to right now and
and a few other people and and they've they've all said look it's you know it could be it could be like be serious Falcons it'd be one of like 4 things it's it'd be either spark plugs coil packs PCB, spark record by PCB, fuel pump and it's it's not only plugs had only 40,000 K go. So I doubt it start but I I
think it's the fuel pump because it's the original fuel pump.
It's probably just you know just tired so I spoke to Blue power who's who are like the Ford Ford specialists cause like a few people said look just you know they they can put on a on a dyno and and and just you know just just make sure it's OK and and they're like look we got a spot that's open tomorrow morning you can bring it down and and we'll and he's like he's like I doubt it be anything maybe he's like to be series they're pretty good but if it's they'll be able to they'll be able to tell so so he's like look just just bring it in and we'll have a have a quick squeeze at it and and hopefully have it all sorted by
mid afternoon for you like it doesn't it's like it's like we deal with three or four of them a week in terms of in terms of that so he's like they're they're.
Not Falcons in general. Like in terms of like just B
series, you know, idle mishaps, but nothing to be worried about.
It's like they're pretty good as a car so just just bring it in and we'll have a soft so so that'll be good to be Also good to see what it makes it made 240 kilowatt per wheels last time it was there so be nice to see if it makes the same power has almost anything so that will be that.
What else the scale went to David Princess last night picked up some bits for the scamp so runners hoping by Friday.
Fingers crossed I'll have a road where the in my in my email will email now and be able to put the car in my name.
Malcolm might have to kill me next time and I can thoroughly enjoy it over the summer break. Which which would be, which
would be a lot of fun because I'm at the last time I probably drove. It was the summer break last
last. It's really been years.
It's hard to scan. Through Wow.
This is flown so once I do that run is gonna be pissed off at me cause you know I'm bringing my 2 down to to keep the holy feast.
So he's just going to be running out and he just shakes his head he's he's a he's a man of few words but he's a man of strong body language and he and he knows when he just he just shakes his head at me and just walks off But but I think the scamp in particular he's really fond of because now he's brought one. He's he's like, oh really?
That was his first car in Sri Lanka.
That's so. That's really cool.
So he was, he was pretty wrapped, was saying mine.
And he's like, it's refreshing to work on a car.
That's very basic. Yeah.
It's it's you know you fix anything with you know not many tools and you kind of learned a bit of his craft and in in Lanka on those things so so yeah it's it's pretty cool to to to say and even though my mechanic hates me at most times he's quite fond of that car so so so that's that's been that excel right got to drive on the weekend I'll talk about that for burn and yeah like they're all they're all trying to give them
a bit of a run. Bit of an exercise.
Bit of an exercise stress there. Stretched their legs will tyres
as well. But yeah that's that's got a bit
of a run as well but that's pretty much it.
How wise on my engine very good. Now gentlemen I was thinking
about topic for tonight and I couldn't think of one because I because you know I'm a topics man but but who But we now know who's an ideas man is charged. So I asked him why?
Is there an idea that or topic that you want to be?
Let me get back to you. And he comes back with if there
was a car that you could drive, a Nurburg ring, what would it be? And that's a.
Really good question because one, it's called the green health for a reason. It's complete utter drives bliss
or drivers nightmare because it's it's very unforgiving if you make a mistake an expensive because of the papery guardrail and stuff you hit. Yeah.
But it's also super rewarding the fact that you can drive your car float out and do one lap in about, you know 10 minutes.
So you know it's it's a really cool experience.
It's got undulations and levels and things that like I mean I've played the Nurburgring God how many times on on Forza and Gran Turismo and and also Corsa and Animal and all these and all these games and and they say they say in the games never do the the the track obviously obviously justice like Laguna Seca for example like the the Corkscrew that's that's like a six Storey drop and you don't really feel in the game but you know but when you but when you see it in real life like my God like it's just it's just quite literally huge.
So obviously, like what would be a car that I would be taking on that road and be like, well, I'm not going to die, but two, it'll be just driving Nirvana and bliss.
And it's, it's quite a hard question.
Like I couldn't, I couldn't come up with a definitive car like I had probably four or five that they were, you know, constantly playing in my mind as to what I would take.
But I asked you guys in the chat and obviously trying you, you come up with the idea. Is there a?
Specific model cars that you would like to do and why would you, why would you choose them over let's say and you know it's equivalent to or or something else in that in that in that market. So even in your capable hands
before I, because I'm still trying to sift through the five that I've got in my head before I can give a definitive.
Answer. Through the 30 cars you
immediately think of when you. Mean and I was thinking like
whenever we get a car that question is just like it's just it's just like a equaliser on a stereo, just like just like all these things go, happen. So don't leave it in your
capable hands. Obviously the most capable in
the country. When it comes to car discussion
here on here on Car Talk, gentlemen, there was just a cheap one. What would you put on that truck
and why? So many choices.
I know. A good place to start is is with
what you can actually hot. I mean, not that you're not
talking about hiring a car, but you can't hire cars to to have a go at the Nurburgring if you don't take your own car there.
Last time I checked, and it's been a while, I'm Googling as we speak. I knew there were you could hire
Suzuki Swift Sport which does appeal from the you said before I'm a card carrying advocate of the slow car fast instead of the fast car slow. Regarding something the size of
the Nurburgring though and the length and the time involved.
I mean obviously a faster car's going to do it faster but it's such a long track to do a lap. You know a real a really fast
car. You can probably get around it
almost as quickly in a in a smaller car from the point of view that even though it doesn't probably have the terminal velocity on the stripes and stuff for smaller cars potentially quicker through the corners.
The other thing they had that you could rent when the the current of the code of the early one series BMW you could rent those as well in a three door which we they got in Europe that we didn't get. Yeah, must be.
Yeah. So yeah, mid 2000s.
I think they were. Yeah, and those one series
hatches in a three door. Three door hatch.
Yeah. Oht don't know the Meadows.
That's cool. Yeah.
And I think they, yeah, there's a BMW M driving course experience there as well. I I think I'd have to go
something European as much as I've you know to type RB fun or a the Swift would be fun but you you've also got to pick your time when you do it. It's I was talking to a friend
today just just just this afternoon about the nerd ring and he's driven it a number of times and he he's actually got a couple of Ferraris so they're very nice cars to do it in but can be a handful in the wet especially on 25 year old Michelin Xas tyres. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Was not a, not, not a, not a wise move and he was very lucky to that when he ended up pointing the wrong way, there was no Co involved, so. Can I please rectify that
situation though, seeing as he knows you?
Yes, yes. And my obsession with ties, yes.
Now there's evidently with these ties, they do, do, do, do runs every so often to for that reason, you know to replace them. But it's an old design and an
old tread pattern and something. But yeah, certainly any sort of.
I think you'd have an awful lot of fun in one of the original M ones or M twos, as long as the manual.
Not one of these silly SMG ones. Sorry Scotty.
All remember the clutch on the one with two titles?
Why? Why Pascals response.
It does have a clutch, it's just automated.
I'm not sticking up for BMW. You've been burned too many
times, Scotty. I get it.
I. Understand.
Yep. Yep, Yep.
OK, I have just found a a site called Big Garage located at the Nurburgring and you can rent an M235.
An M2 Flip 4 Cayman S came in GT4GT3991 GT 399-2458 Italia Aura Moroccan. How would that be?
Two laps in an M235, €299 just for those playing at home, yeah.
Yeah, potentially 20 minutes of racing.
That's right. Yeah.
Let's go. Or if you if you really want to
lash out that there is a 12 lap package with the 4-5 added Charlie, that'll set you back €3599.
You know the you know OHSU my chequebook.
An extra extra laps, only another 300.
Euro too bargain. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, so there's probably a sweet walk.
The M235 is probably the cheapest one you can do but and it starts at 2 laps €299. So I think if up to do it for
the first time, I'd probably rent the swift the Swift Sport.
Yep. And just see the track in a slow
car get I'd like understand the track and it's undulations and everything. Yeah, OK, now let's go for
something a bit more, bit more with with a bit more grunts.
But like you'd be just terrified.
Wouldn't you like one mistake in the?
Very heartfelt. Runoff.
People die there every year, like those those deaths again this year and everything. So not a.
Not to mention I'm constantly looking behind you for other cars coming up fast, concentrating in front of you for other cars as well. That's a lot going on.
Do you guys watch on Misha trudering.
Yeah he's he's like the the the blokes insane.
He's an incredible driver. He's he's he's I think he was a
ring taxi driver for years and then he's got his own channel people bring bring him their cars drop my.
Car drive, yeah. It's awesome And he just the
people feel like holy crap you drive my colours you've never driven my car before and he's just going 10 tenths straight off the bat and he's even like people make mistakes because like they look up and they're like oh there's someone behind the back down and they really they've missed the breaking point and they're off and yeah into the into the abyss that is the the green health. So yeah you know I it's not for
the faint of heart yeah it's it's not at all it's it's a it's a form thing and and he makes it look easy because he's he's he's got got like God like you know driving skill but everybody else in the truck you'd be constantly thinking about you know cheese like you know in the back here like is it says I wanna give it to somebody I've got a little you know point now or or what have you and and you're doing that for like 20 kilometres.
Is just. That's just it's.
It's. Absolutely.
So I think doing it in a in a Swift because I'll be like, well, everyone's gonna pass at this point.
Just leave. You're in the.
Just leave. Again, the whole truck.
Well here you go. This is for you Matthew.
This is the Rent 4 Ring Package Turbo Swissport.
It looks like the only one only manual you can do it in.
Actually even the Coopers and their BMWs are automatic and they're Supras automatic. But a manual Suzuki Swift Sport
Turbo arrive and drive. The arrive and drive package
includes the first tank of fuel, the use of and the use of our lap ticket. It saves you from refuelling at
the end of your rental and from queuing in line to buy your lap tickets. So your first lap in that car is
€199 and each additional lap you want to do is €99.
That's. Actually, not too bad.
Right. It's not shocking, is it?
I mean when you say you're in college is like 25 year old lap or something like to to to. Yeah, yeah.
To go in potentially die. So, so this is, this is like a
nicer way of of a yeah, you know, saving your car until you get more practise. Because again, that's what
that's what it comes down to. Mentioned measure because I saw
a video of him today. Driving.
Out what I can't remember the car something yeah something like that is what brought on the question alright yeah like seeing that video in my rails made and and I was like Oh yeah that is you know what would you take the yeah that that that was what sparked. It.
Was pretty special stuff. Yeah.
Yeah, he's your cousin on the ring.
Did you like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah, alright.
I haven't seen that. Yeah, so, so Eastern Europe.
So it's a it's a U.S. Navy kind of dude who apparently
they bring their cars over all the time, Alright.
So like a lot of the muscle cars and cars that they don't get, he drives through them because they they bring him over with him and and yeah, he was like, oh, I fit in today.
It was totally laundry. Yeah.
And I was like, I was like, oh dude, I'll be happy to see this.
Yeah. He raves about, he said.
He said it was great so. Yeah.
But yeah, that was a yeah it's it's yeah.
Well, like Michael, he's, he's, he's, he's an interesting.
Character. Yeah, and he's just, he's like
truly fearless. Insane.
For someone who can drive at that level on the ring as something else, is definitely a special.
He's you gotta be not all there upstairs to be like a proper race driver. Well, you gotta have like, not
be ohk Absolutely zero fear. Yeah.
So if you have any fear, then you just become safe.
Well, that's why I say really drivers like, like like I respect for cars, you know, But I've got the most respect for you always because like with like a racing car driver, you know, you can you go off track, you can gobble, trap, stop or hit a wall, but you know you'll slow down jobs.
One mistake tree. Yeah.
It's it's there they are quite literally in say like like Formula One drivers Robert Kubitza and and I think Kimi Raikkonen did brother was also he didn't need that they went to be with the WRC and you know I got respect for those two probably the One drive is probably the most of any.
I think a lot of them did start rallying and then moved on, especially when you're from those countries, finished Sweden, all those things. So seems to be the way to go.
One slide was essentially because like the thing they live sideways those people going so so yeah it's I'm not really like the most respect those because they just one mistake tree you know like it's you and they're doing skinny things are like 2 and occasionally arms. I'm like, you guys are cooked
like it's straight out, so good. But anyway, that's beside the
point of of how cooked drivers can be.
Sabine Schmidt, you know, RIP. But she was.
She was she was completely, completely insane.
Right. Yeah, sure.
She was fantastic. Like, I think the the, the, the
car world lost the big influential figure in her, you know, obvious driving transit bill under 10 minutes.
Which was hilarious. Yeah.
For the hot shit, and then she's.
Going, you know, under 10 minutes and now, yeah, like what? Sorry.
Yeah, yeah, sure, sure, sure, sure.
She was very very awesome woman. Yeah.
Just shows how how insane you have to be and and just you might feel less like you just got you got to have like just now. Well I'm not going to die today
and you're gonna have that mentality and just just you know City can down flat out like that's just yeah that's just what you just gotta do it But gentlemen cars you would take.
Now David Princess has had a squeeze through all the the the stuff you can potentially get at the ring, but if you had a chance to to choose anything, what would you pick and why?
So sticking with my main man David, and starting with something small because I think it would be a lot of fun because you can really give it a hard time and work through the gears.
Rev it all the way out. Um, don't have to worry too much
about sideways action. So I'm thinking like a real good
hot hatch either. What You've got, Maddie, You're
Green Machine. Yes, Christine.
Jim built too. Hmm, that would like a 20 end so
something goes smaller. I-20 N so something like that
really nippy icon would be awesome.
Or you can get one of those like a baths or something. 695 or the
595 or bath would just be so much fun cause you can really give it a massive hard time and go through all the gears and just keep that foot flat majority of the time as opposed to your Lambos and Ferraris and stuff like that.
To get it all the time, wouldn't you know, you'd be very quickly.
Yeah, which you know would be a lot of fun in those super cars and stuff. But I I don't think I'd be able
to do it. I'd be little bit too scared as
it was just in something like a, you know, an I-20 N or something would be full on and a lot of fun.
You know how David was saying you can, you know, multiple laps and stuff. I think after two laps I'd be
done. Yeah.
Yeah, absolutely wrecked. I'll be sweating mess once.
I'll be sweating because of, you know, you constantly working the wheel. But two, I'd be sweating because
I'd be like my anxiety would have been through the roof the whole don't crash, don't die, don't die, don't die don't.
It's like it's like that meme. The guy driving a car and he's,
he's, he's singing to himself, He better not crash.
You better not. Yeah.
That's something I'm telling you.
Why? Because you told your wife
you're at work and he's like, he's like, you're gonna race on a race. Track, yeah.
I'm sorry but it's interesting you say that's gonna be like PST and and and like 20 and and and and 695 a bath because like Misha has driven driven all those on the on the Nurburgring and he's and he's like these are so much fun on the Nurburgring because they're they're agile and they're fun and they're quick steering and you know he just he proves the point that you don't need to you know massive 4 million horsepower car to to to absolutely rip on on on the Nurburgring it's you know it's all about you know just just driving and you know having a good time. I think it works well on there
because it's still pretty much a Rd.
It's not an abstract, so it's not perfectly smooth.
There's lots of bumps and things like that that you're hitting that you wouldn't want to be taking, you know, your high-end super cars and stuff on, as opposed to a race track where they would be way more fun. It's smoother.
It's made for that kind of stuff.
Well, ask you this question, Scotty, in in all of Misha's videos, how many Lambos and Ferraris do you actually say?
Like like what does he's driving through?
You don't see any like that coming to the last one.
I'm saying like the only cars you see that a high end of Porsche GT3 Rs isn't and that are.
Going It's always porches. Which men would be absolutely
fantastic to drive around or 4. That's weird, you know, it's
it's Bahamas here, BMW's. And I'm not talking about brand
new ones either, like E40, Sixers and stuff.
That is. Going on racing, Yeah, the E36,
I think he had an E46. Was it a 46?
They had the V. 10 driving 46 with a V10 swap?
Yeah, that was just. Like an M5. 75 Yeah, it was.
It was. Yeah, that was bonkers.
And the noise, I think basically, yeah.
But just just flicking through just some of the cars that he's driven, it's some basic stuff, you know the Mark 3 Supra Audi S ones, but there is some extreme fast stuff.
The new GDR's UM 89 Honda CR. X.
I just like having He's not. The reason why I like well, I've
watched virtually all of his videos.
The reason why I love watching his videos is because he doesn't discriminate. It's like one of those.
I'll give it a go like he's. Play this thing just going to
he'll drive anything, correct? He drives because he loves
driving, yeah. Well, there's one I haven't
seen. He drives a reliant kitten.
What's that? This other why?
That would be pretty cool to watch, but yeah, it's just such.
Cool to watch it. Be good to watch and point and
laugh. I'm very gladly not people on
the wheel of the. Things I I wouldn't wanna be the
one driving around in your brand new Porsche and watch him overtake you in one of those really hammers past and he's Reliant Kitten. The best part is watching him
like pass everybody like cheapy little cars like hot hatches and stuff like he's passing he's passing Porsche Caymans 9 Elevens and stuff and yeah and like he's he's not even corner bombing. He's like he's he's got he's
built up enough speed through through through the corners he's party went straight and he's like by the end of the street they catch up and he's like yeah see you later thanks to your corners. Like I remember he was driving a
case swapped Fiesta St with like 500 horsepower something some nuts like that and and it was like it was just blowing the tyres with every single gear and he's just passing people like I said he's still I'm like this guy is insane so you know it's the it's the joys you get of of of watching his stuff on the on the Nurburgring but yeah he drives some really really slow stuff. I'd love to see him drop like a
mini Micro or something that would be.
Hilarious, that, Would that be? He could be fun.
So anyway, yeah. So it's gotta you're you're all
about like the small hot hatches, I-20 and Fiesta St, 695 a bath. Anything else you'd like to to
to give her? To give a a a thing on the
bundle ring? You know your harkis, you've got
your super cars, but I don't know if I would be happy enough or excited, if that makes sense. I'd love to drive one, but I
just think I'd be too worked up. Yeah.
Really give it, you know, to really open it up or really plant my foot. It would be great fun, but I
wouldn't be driving it. I wouldn't be driving it fast.
That's kind of why I chose those other cars, because those ones, as I said, you have your foot flat majority of the time and smashing through the gears. Well, anything more careful like
I I wouldn't wanna drive a Cease 63 around there or anything.
Yeah. I'll be just like ohhhhh and
then OK, I'm going dead straight now I can kind of put my foot down because it's so happy and things I'll be just.
Potentially that's just like a power cruiser.
It's power cruise. Yeah, something is.
If you do come unstuck, it's because you're doing warp speed.
That's the thing. And then you know you hit things
at warp speed. That usually doesn't go on.
Yeah. And I've seen down the rabbit
hole of the the crash compilations of the Newberry and these and these they are flying and you just see them wrong and get lost into the air like when when they it's it's just like yeah like how people walking away from these things and so yeah I I think Scotty I would be on your body.
I reckon that's I'd be much the same.
Like I mean we've discussed before the show like modern modern cars like especially performance cars like let's say you know your previous C63 AMG or the current you know range.
They are insanely fast. Like they are so fast that like
they just they define the not quite quick they are and they're gonna put all this speed because the car is so heavy.
Yeah but the performance is just is just it's ridiculous and and you know this to harness that all that power like you need to have Misha God that all of you know abilities around a track whereas in a Fiesta St or by 28 or even 100 Civic type R like you'd be able to have a bit of fun and enjoy it because you can use the PowerPoint usable power and stuff.
So yeah it's it's a it's it's interesting that that that you said and like don't be wrong I love so because I think they're really cool but like if I think you would track day car I would I did like the last things I think I think unless it's like a Porsche GT3 where it's like a you know awesome track day car but like Oh yeah. Yeah, that's different.
But like, you know, like a liar. I was like, I'm just like
whatever, I'd rather have a 30 incident and then run the track for and you have a truck warranty which is, which is insane that they offer that. So yeah, I really like your
thinking. That's gotta what about you?
What are you thinking? Other off with thinking like
it's gotta be something German, something European, you know, like, I don't know what what I came down to there was like you know my manual 9/11 GT2 GT Grove one of those or like an E92M3 manual box. Yeah.
But. Thinking more about it, it's
just it is far too much car to put on essentially onto a road.
Yeah, go fast on a road and yeah, like I just have to come back to smaller and more agile, more fun cars, everything you guys have mentioned. But also I think I would ideally
go for like a a an R32, like a Mark 5R32O Cool.
Yeah 6 speed. You got the all wheel drive
grip. Yeah.
And hell of a sound like a great noise.
I mean Even so hell yeah yeah helping you something more sort of like modern German to take on the track like other than that you're not gonna ideally sorry realistically you're not going to do a lot of damage to yourself.
Well, I mean you could but you know the risk is obviously lower than it's away faster car. We can't.
Oh yeah, like like, but did not like current Gulf Aquick which are just stupidly quick. Like yeah, it's a colour you
could you can still potentially use the power band and yeah, and really and drive it. Well that's actually a really
good choice. I actually quite like the the
32. And if I had to go for more of a
sort of a, you know, I mean that'll really slow but looking at the Lotus Elise or running Sage just for the pure like Mr Yeah you know mid engine we will drive dynamic of it because I feel like that car is sorry that track is made for sort of I don't know just slinging yourself out of corners and yeah I did just be so much fun and I caught that's dedicated to cornering has got to be yeah that'll be topping the charts
for that. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Hopefully one day.
So like so well we've all kind of stayed in like the hot hatch kind of in front of area and or or a Porsche.
Yeah, I think, I think we've established what.
Forces the way. But I think.
I just think just for nostalgic for, for a sense of nostalgia, I wouldn't mind actually doing it in like a like an old 9/11, like a, you know, mid 80s, sort of 911.
That would be cool, you know. That's sort of how expect to a
simpler time, doesn't it? And that ugly about six first
sound? That would be cool, is that
that's almost these days falls into the slow car fast category too, you know. So it doesn't it really compared
to a lot of the new stuff. But yeah, no power steering or
anything like that. You get a real tactile sense of
driving that bit of Rd in Germany, I reckon.
So yeah, if anyone wants to loan me there for a million.
Dollars. 85 career. I'll fun.
I'll take up the offer. Thanks.
Have you guys ever seen the company roof?
They they had the yellow bird and they they did the the, I believe it was on the Nurburgring too.
And there it was quite literally drifting every corner powers lying like. It was.
Very video. Video from the 80s of this this
roof yellow bird. Just go ahead and like going I
don't know if you've seen this guy, but this this car is just going nuts. And and it was a promotional
video for the car, yeah. So.
So, ah, it's so big. So yeah, it was going completely
nuts. And yeah, it was on the
networking. And I'm like, wow, that's just,
that would be cool to do. It would be death trap.
It'd be cool to do. So yeah.
So is anyone ask Santa? Has anybody asked Santa for a
2024 season pass? I mean, I I I mean I I've got
his number. I can.
I can, OK. How?
You know, we've all been good boys this year.
I'm sick of getting cold every year.
Can I cannot? So 20/20/24 season pass.
If you're interested, we'll set you back 4877 dollars Australian 3000. Euros.
Lived around the corner. And.
You just that. Was your weekend drive easily
worth it? I.
See, that's the trick, Chad. Evidently you don't do it on the
weekend the the best way of surviving it is Monday.
Thursday during the week, though, yeah, yeah.
Yeah. Cause when?
It comes, it comes from my mate who who has driven a number of times, he said. There's I've, I've been there on
the weekends, he said. There's no way I'd get on the
track on the weekends. Yeah.
Well. Got every and it's actually put
lap Friday to Sunday. OK.
Yeah, sure. Car companies do testing days or
so. So they they they take the whole
track testing day. So like that's right.
Really. Like when you think about it,
some days, some like weeks or months, it's very limited time you can actually use the room. So if I was coming from work, be
like OHF, sorry honey, I'm I'm just I'm just staying back at the office for a little bit and just just don't.
Yeah. Because you're talking to your
wife. You're at work, you know,
because you come over, the breaks are like smoking.
And then the exhaust was like, thrashed.
So he's like, like she's like, where have you been?
You know, it was, I was just overtook Laurie back then.
It was just like, yeah, sure you.
Did she's a bit hot. So.
What you're saying is it's probably easier to go back to university, do an engineering degree, get into automotive engineering development, come and work for one of the major car companies, and actually get paid to drive around the Nurburgring testing. It might be the ideal job.
That might be might be an easier.
I mean, I don't think my health insurance would cover me for anything, but that's I'll make sure to take a good life.
If you work. If you're working for someone
though, it's it's worth cover. I suppose.
Germany has as a still working. That that that have the charges
more for our for our insurance registration I see.
And Nurburgring charge. Yeah, just got to play that so,
so, so David, you'd be you'd be an old Porsche.
Yeah. If you had to pick.
Yeah, I think. I think thinking about it, I
think classic track like that deserves a classic car.
And if it's in Germany, it's going to be a German car.
So yeah, not even a turbo. I don't need a 930, nothing
fancy like that. Just to just a little 911 is he
would be fine. That's it.
That's a good choice. Yeah.
I the reason why I was asking about 5 cars to do this on.
I was thinking a different categories cause I'm an idiot, but that's that's the way I work.
But there's one kind of particular that I think takes the cake and it's probably the most concentrated German car.
I mean I mean Porsche to be fair portions of the German but this for me personifies 90s, late 80s German cars.
It's a it's a 190 you know if you vote to yeah, it's DTM to the Max. It's just like that car dog,
manual gearbox. I I just picture them in my in
my office. I need funny.
Videos of this chat, yeah. They're like bouncing over
corners and they're like mid air and and like just going ham in one of those on a German track in Germany in in you know very German. Yeah, ridiculously yeah cool
looking car. I think that's just like that's
just takes the cake. I mean like that that that would
be utter pornography in in carpool in on on a race track like that it'd be it'd be like driving eighties 90s TM and and and you you you just because you look at those cars and they look so epic. Yeah, they've aged.
Beautiful. Beautifully.
They're actually good looking race car.
Aged even, Yeah. Sir, I would if you feel like my
late 80s, early 90s, kind of like you know car crash, it would probably be that because from that track for that atmosphere, I think that that would be that would be me.
If I had to go anything super car related, it'd be an LFA Nurburgring edition which which which hold the record for the Nurburgring and it terrified me and I'd be scared, but just I'll just be lobby, like putting it around just so I can hear the engine in A room. Like.
So I do. I drive that.
But for the most time for you know like I'm I'm like you guys I'll take a hot hatch. I take even what I just for like
10 years ago, like like you know, like 22 year older than 10 years now. But like, I can't believe
that's. Older than 10 years so.
Yeah, it's it's insane. But like, you know second gender
Focus, Rs, one of one of those. I'd take a because I like to
hear that five sort of like hearing different engines how hot even take it you know like a VW Corrado VR6 or something like that that that's that's kind of cool say little lip spoiler coming out. Yeah and then the engine light
come on. So I said that that that that
would be that would be a bit of fun but yeah I'd like proper old school hot hatches like that. Well I mean that that old, but
like you know all of the older big engine, small car and because now they just, they just like a 45 are just ridiculously fast like that's just that's. Just like.
Do they look 400 and something most powerful sounds like it's it's they're insane like they got more power than than you know it's funny like this but. Like.
Like and if six from the from FGF 6 is 310K, that makes more power. The hell is out of a full 200%.
That's just it's it's insane. So yeah, I probably have one of
those where I do it like a you know, I do like 20 because I, you know, I if I cook the brakes, I just take it back and say, hey, fix it. Yeah.
Civic type I would would be pretty bloody epic.
I mean it's the fastest probably drive car on the Nurburgring at the whole circuit at the moment. I don't think it will be beaten.
I don't think anyone's gonna gonna gonna go for that record.
They don't really focusing on it either.
Like, yeah, maybe Renault. But like, while they.
Finish. Rs Yeah, well.
There's something, yeah. So they're they're cutting that
Ford's out of the game completely with that now, Yeah, that's like in terms of front wheel drive, you know, renee's done. I mean VW might do something
with the Golf GTI, but I I doubt it.
But yeah like that's pretty much it in terms of like you know that's kind of like the last rule Soul Survivor of the front will drive you know drivers car. So yeah it's it's it's a shame
but that's just the way the world's going but it's good that cost like that still exists there right guys there's just like you know having still having a choice you can get a three pedal car like I mean you're not doing great things with you know I mean and stuff. So the fact that they still
exist, really good things, but. Obviously the markets there and
they're focusing on it too and they're capitalising on it.
Absolutely, absolutely. And you know what everyone else
is leaving, like, I think would be very smart about it.
Because when everyone else is like pissing off from the game, like forced pissed off, you know, hang those pissed off.
So, yeah, Correct. Yeah.
And then, sorry, yeah, they're all pissed off in the home.
I was like, well, this is now a place that no one else is.
Let's jump into that market. Yeah.
They've got some great offerings they sell.
Quite well. So was there someone making a
manual, gearbox, hardwood or electric power?
That's. Important.
It's been done. I mean, the first insight was
that wasn't it though they? First Gen first Gen insights
were only available as manual in Australia.
Not a clutch sort of thing. No menu clutch with clutch.
Just just. Speak those.
Have you ever driven one, though?
I have. What are they like?
Like is it like when you take your first class?
Like yeah, like is it, does the engine kick on or is it just like you got a bit of electricity then the engine kicks off? No, no, they the motor runs all
the time. At the petrol motor runs all the
time. OK.
I am we had an MA system integrated motor assist system so that the IT wasn't like the Prius in that it would only run on electric power. Such as?
Three cylinder 1 litre engine in those and then it had the integrated motor which gave it sort of the performance of a 1.41.5 litre car basically. So yeah it would it was one of
the first cars sold here I think that had auto stopped too.
So if you were stopped at the lights and took your foot off the clutch, you know, like in neutral with lots of Hutchinson would stop it. As soon as you touch the clutch
again and select it first, the engine would start up again.
Now I've got to say very highly geared.
Like you could drive around for something just wrapped around the town in in 30 year all day like you didn't really need or fifth. It was so highly geared, legit
whichever that is. But you know it it would 4th
gear around town and would just bogged down.
It had no power at all. You know, they were pretty
underwhelming. I mean, for a $55,000 package
that they were when they were first released, yeah, a lot of people weren't. Consequently they sold well
between 45 and 54. I think is the official varies
who you ask. One of the guys in the club
actually had three of them for a while.
He's down to two. He's sold one of them but and
another fellows got our friend David Day who we know well has has one. I'm doing.
He's a few times but yeah, quirky and unusual and funky looking things and you know it was a stepping stone.
It was this. The first Tiger on sale in
Australia beat beat the Prius by about two weeks.
The original. Prius so.
Still. Still the first time, but that
was on sale in Australia. Be interesting to drive, but
certainly not quick. And yeah, the the gearbox that
makes them, no, not pleasant around town but there's actually one at the museum down at at the seat on the Peninsula and it's got it's got over 400,000 K's on the top because the guy used to divide his time between Melbourne and Perth and he'd drive this thing across Australia, the guy that owned it and it's just got a crazy mileage on it but looks completely you know, doesn't look any different from the dad came out of the showroom. It looks it's in really good
condition but just got this ridiculous mileage on it.
So sure he would have got his money back in petrol that they were about 3. I think David's regularly, you
know, runs around between 3 and 3 1/2 and four litres per 100K, so. Pretty bloody good looking
though. That's really.
That's better than Prius. Almost.
Yeah, it's, yeah. Yeah, it was pretty good.
It's gotta your girlfriend. Sorry, should say fiance got
one, but just like the later one, those other, does that average like you know, low, low fives low 4?
Not quite sure because she just has the range in there, but and it just depends how you drive it.
You know you can fill it up and we usually when you fill it up it'll say you know 700K out of the tank but then it can drop down to 504 hundred, bring it back up to 500 spat.
How you drive it. I haven't really driven it like
I do with mine, where I always reset the the trip metre, so I I can't really 100% say when you're plotting around it's really good. I think you save more fuel on it
if you're using it around town. Just wasn't really like highways
like freeways and stuff like that.
It's not happy sitting on 100 or just over 100 and things like that. It's not.
Yeah, well, they're all CBT's. Those ones that we had that
change from. And I think because of the
gearing of the gearbox, the manuals were the early ones.
Cows were really good on the Open Rd.
You just wouldn't necessarily want to drive them on the Open Rd. You're gonna wonder why you
drive it across the motherboard, Perth.
Everybody know, I know, really narrow rear track compared to the front track. So they they look a bit funny
crabbing down the road sort of thing.
But they're not really. It's just that the rear track so
much smaller than the front. And yeah, they seem to be from
memory, from memory thou pretty affected by side wins and and tracks going the opposite direction.
Things like that would drop them about a bit, so.
They would like the rear wheel spats and stuff.
Yes, yeah. Yeah.
Imagine the drag coefficient there.
Yeah. That's why I think you know when
they were at speed, if the road was smooth enough and you didn't have much oncoming traffic. So put back conditions having to
be exactly right for for that car to be in a sweet spot, but.
You gotta think that. That guy be doing, I mean how
many cases across to Perth from Melbourne it would be?
About 4000, so. Right.
So, so he would, you know, the fuel efficiency which that car would have been made for would be just around town, right, Because you have to get you off the line, you're using a lot of energy. Like it big?
Bloody better off using something else like.
It's the fact that you use. Well, I mean the fact that he's
one of those, you know, respect, that's cool.
But like, yeah. Yeah, in terms of money saving
it. It's pretty negligible, right?
It's like, yeah, I guess if it's ringing its head off then that's using a lot of field, but. It's quite highly geared, but
what are they at 100 like? Are they still about 3000?
No, no, I think they would listen there.
I think they were really, really, really.
That's why they were so strange to drive around town, I thought.
Well, that's a yeah. Yeah.
Well. I had to organise a drive for
you in one of those. Yeah.
Actually, I'd love to drive one. I'd love to fast.
Yeah. Yeah.
In the slowest way possible. Also this video that these
people like that do hypermiling in in in America and they don't break the corners, they just throw them in because they only speed and they all drive early Hondas or they drive you know, early insights and they obviously are still in the back of like you know be green to the world and stuff.
And and they're bloody nuts. On the road, like, like they
like those, right. Like they had a guy take like to
teach you how to handle and he's trying.
He's driving and he's like hit the bridge.
He's like don't hit the brakes like oh, OK, sorry to call.
It will stick And he's like throwing in the corners like that's how you say fuel, you know you don't using signal like, geez. It's almost like racing drivers
driving. You break, you know, not
accelerating and slowing down. It's.
Yeah, you just just keep the pace.
Yeah, yeah. We're getting a little off
topic, but I wanted to oh God, I wasn't trying to.
Sorry, that's right off topic. We're so far off topic Chance we
got. What do you thinking Chad?
I'm back onto the the in. The.
The ring, the taxi experience. Do you know what the the newest
car you can do with the taxi experience in on the?
Nurburgring. Hyundai I30 N.
There, yeah. Wow.
I think, I think the Father come to their senses that they probably breaking many M cars and her hand is like, well, I guess we'll give you a warranty. Yeah, that's.
Right. I guess we have to honour it,
yeah. Could be the ultimate in in
whether there are other or not and you can option up and go to the TCR in taxi. If you don't want the standard
one, you can go to the TCR car. Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, when in Rome, right? Like that's That's funny.
Did you thoughts come back to your No, no.
OK, well. It was about hypermiling, but
OK, I'll try and think about. It that's why.
That's why Ohi guys, out of all his, my last before you before you do the quiz. Now, if you had to choose a car
for everybody on this chat right now to drive with no bigger ring, out of the ones that we've chosen or the ones that you've chosen, what would they? Be choosing for somebody else.
They're out of this. So funny.
I think I would put you in an I-20 and because I know you really like those and I think. I think you'd have an absolute
blast. Chad OHS put you in.
I'll give you the the 190. Ohm Yeah, Good.
Very good. Money that's that's big of you,
marry. No, I I, I, I, I I know this man
appreciates a fine you know German automobile and and a very cool one at that. So I I think I think that would
yeah. I could see you just smashing.
Apex is one of. Those, yeah.
I think I think your post a good choice but I also think your you'd get there and you'd be like I'm a home demand.
I need to drive 100 of some description.
So. Are you wearing a tight body
shirt? So I'll give you the type.
Thank you very much. Uh, so wait.
Alright, happy days. Happy days that's what I'm
putting you guys in beautiful and and I would probably take I don't know I should I want it's this that's not my choice so because but you guys get to choose what we all get to drive and then then we are then we all get to enjoy it.
I put you in the in the swift. Yep, absolutely swift.
Happy with that. Because you can have an absolute
blast and explore the track and you're not going at you know you're gonna break anything at breakneck speed.
OHV chair when I can't put you in an in because although would you be quicker actually the fact you've got an end like you know would you have more fun because you probably couldn't take your in over there but you could then say you've driven it in around.
Yeah, once familiar right now. Yeah.
Sitting on the wrong side of the car, that could be the only.
Problem. And the gear shift is not, you
know where the where the window switches are.
Yeah, the other stuff. No, no, no.
So yeah, you can, you can go in the end, Scotty.
Actually, I put you in the Fiesta St, I reckon.
OK. Little 3 pot, little screaming
in German. That would be fun.
Familiar to the, to the, to the listeners and the podcasters.
Yeah, yeah, and it's it. It could be in the same colour
as Madea's car cause it is known as the Green Hill so you know.
So you're talking, you're taking my Fiesta home, Scotty.
Take it, take it home. You can put on a ship and off
you go. You.
Scotty, what would you have for us?
Um, yeah. I would put David in an NSX,
thank you. Were there a first or second Gen
is what I'm putting in. It's up to him if he wants to
pop up headlights or not, but. Yeah, I'm a pop up headlight.
Guy. Then we'll go the first Gen.
Thank you. How have the past pop ups?
We, we we all know college is better with popups.
They. They just are.
Yeah, yeah, that's true. I just think they would would
have an absolute ball in that thing.
I certainly would be. Much fun just to see how they
handled back then. Because as you're saying you
wanted an older Porsche, well, you can have the older NSX instead. Lovely.
Lovely, like, like that. Hmm.
Maddie, what would I throw you in?
Considering you've got a nice little green machine, I'll probably throw you in a Yaris GR.
Ohhhhh. Yeah, 3 cylinder and three
cylinder OHG. Yeah, that.
I reckon you'd you'd enjoy that. There would be a lot of fun.
Probably wouldn't lift off oversteer myself to death like I would in the SO I would have a bit more bit more grip, which should be a lot of fun. Lucky loss considering you were
talking about European and everything Macy's put you in the 190 E Um, hmm. I would probably throw you in a
Golf R OK, you can look golf. Are you got that nice sturdy 4
wheel drive grip? That thing is very quick out of
the corners. OK, can I say you'd have the
most fun? Yeah.
Yeah, good choice. Pull you out of those corners
super quick. And then into a check.
Engine light, yeah, it's OK you just borrowing it, so.
Yeah. We'll have a few on standby.
That's funny, that's. Funny.
Alright, and well, he lost you. Mr Chad All right.
David, I'm going to go with now. Yeah, you've been put into type
bars. You've also been you, you've
shown interest in the 9/11 yeah I think maybe like a be serious swapped Mini Cooper. No.
No. Again, not super fast, but
enough. Enough, OK, Have fun.
It would be. Enough.
That's a. Crack like a mighty car.
Mods. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mother thing, yeah. B16.
They take all day. Yeah.
Yeah. I could just see David, like
there's all these super cars, just David on the tech go.
But yeah, she's crazy fast. Very good choice.
I like that one. Thank you.
Buddy, since you've got an R31 I'm going to stick to something real drive and maybe a sit down of some sort.
An E90 M3. I'm not sure if you can get
those in a 5 speed manual, 6 speed manual.
We can want to go with that. It's kind of like a 31 on.
Steroids. Yeah, yeah, I'd be.
I'd enjoy that. That would be fun.
He's used to M3, he's, but he's yeah.
Oht used to have one. Yeah, you did OHT.
Yeah, he 46. I'm sorry.
Yeah, right, right. OK.
Two other make those. Yeah, that's true.
Maddie, you have graciously given me the 198.
I think that's a you car. I think, I think you.
Know I just. I bloody love though.
That's that's good. Mary.
I think I'm gonna go with, but I have to give you an AW11.
No. It's the truth again, I'll come
back to you know, mid engine real and we will drive.
Yeah, I was talking about the Lotuses, but yeah, I think that Toyota mid engine would be awesome.
Probably not very, you know, easy to find parts for over there. But yeah, this is all
hypothetical. So I would I would snap
oversteer. The closest gun, and I think for
myself, I'm gonna take the Corrado that you mentioned, which is what I was on about the I32 my 5:00.
But yeah, Karado, which is coupe body, some wedge shape.
Yeah, just play awesome car. Yeah, with the I60. 66L5 speed
with think whatever they are, yeah.
What a sound. Yeah, yeah, good choice, good
choice. German, very, very good
discussion there. We should revisit this topic
actually and and and What Car, what What Car would we would we take like Bathurst and What Car would we take for you.
Know. Suzuka and and and and stuff
like that. So so yeah good choice.
So I think I think we're definitely there's a good topic.
I think we're gonna revisit that in new Year.
But anyway, German, it's time for the quiz now.
Scotty is in charge of the quiz today.
He's he does his usual, you know, cryptic cars.
I'm showing it's cryptic cars going.
It's a bit of a mix. I've.
Got. I've I've gone absolutely crazy.
I've got. Just lost it.
He's done. He's done.
I've got some that are relevant to the topic that we're just talking about, and I've thrown in some cryptic cars in there, and I've also put in some latest news.
So if you've been in the listening to the latest car news, then I've got some questions around that too.
And then I've got some just random history facts, OK, and bonus questions. You thought.
I do. Bonus questions is somewhat of a
few bonus questions, so. This question so So is every
round. It's anybody's game.
This one really chockablock. This special way, it's a
Christmas miracle. Hmm.
Christmas miracle. I like it.
Alright, let's get started This one.
Quite possibly will be closest to.
We'll see how we go. Might be you'll need to tell me
this in kilometres. It's just saying that question
one How long is the Nurburgring, David?
21.8 kilometres No 2020.8 kilometres.
It is 20.8. Do you want to give the point or
half a point? So it's.
It's I'll have to give him half, half.
There we. Go.
Great. These quizmaster that's that's
that's his choice. OK, what?
You only got half a point because it's nearly Christmas.
So special yes, No second guessing here.
Yeah. You're lucky I like you.
Question 2 How many turns does the Nurburgring have?
Matthew, Matthew, It's over 100. I'm gonna say 115. 115 we did
close this too, so we got 115. I'll be happy with that. 123.
123. I'm just gonna split it in the
middle 120. David gets it with 123 that has
154. OK.
That's even more. You're 54.
You're right. After Doctor Tulips, you'd be a
sweating, drenched mean, yeah. That's why you'd be knackered by
the end, physically and mentally.
David, you would you would like a school check?
I love school. Check.
Yeah. Yeah, David, you're 1.5 and the
rest of us are 0. Just just just so you know.
Early days. OK, question three.
This one is the first of the cryptic cars.
OK, the way cryptic cars. Works, yeah, I was just going to
say we're going to. The way it works is I'll say the
make of the car, you know if it's Ford, but then the word of the model. I change it to like a synonym or
something like that means the same thing, but I'm just using a different word for it. So you could say for example, 4
horse and it could be like Bronco or Mustang, yeah.
Yeah. Here we go, the Chevrolet snow
slide. No.
Or I could say landslide. David.
Child. David.
Avalanche. Yeah, yeah, Avalanche.
OK. This is the first of a few Honda
ones, not necessarily cryptic. I only put in a few cryptic
ones. Question 4 Is Honda Metropolis?
David David. City this, Yeah, on the city.
And he's going to, you know, elation.
Question 5 is the last of the cryptic, and it's a movie to move that came out in 2008. Two words.
You've got a breakdown, so the movie is called Demise Contest.
David. David in game.
No. Matthew.
Matthew. Would be death rice.
Yes, Death rice. I feel really good.
Feel I really enjoyed that. You see that?
Is that is that got the Jackson? State Jason Statham Yeah.
Long time. It's it's a lot.
It's an old movie now, but every time I watch it, I just, it's so cheesy. But yeah, it's so good.
All right. Question 6 brings us into some
news. OK.
Which car recently got zero stars for the ANCAP rating?
David. Matthew.
That'll be the well, there was two other that's the bonus question there. There was the MG, the MG Five.
I think it was and. And leave it as that.
OK, alright, that's all. Bonus question, what was the
lesser known carnival Matthew? Was the Mahindra scorpion or
something? It was We the Weed name.
Now you said it. You said it.
No, that is OK. There you.
Go the Mahindra Scorpio. Yeah, now I have a bonus bonus
question, and this is connected to just the MG 5, so I'll just clarify that name one important thing that it was missing.
God thought, sorry, kernel bugs. It was missing curtain airbags,
I'll give you that. Yeah, there's quite a few things
that I was actually missing. How does it even get to be sold?
Like. Well.
It's side intrusion was awful for side impacts and what made it worse is that it didn't have pre tensioners on the seat belts. Oht really.
Yes, the only ones that did was the top of the range model, and only for the front people, none for the. 2023 That's insane.
Who was 80 yards? I have.
Not how does that pass 80 yards of that, right?
Like, that's insane. Chip.
So, so there was that. I thought it would be dearer to
produce a cat to not. Then.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, surely, yeah.
Driving one in traffic today can absolute maniac as well.
Now, knowing how bad, um, this is, the the safety is, it's not gonna have a good time. It's gonna be bad.
Yeah. So MG have already come back and
said that they're strengthening the structural integrity of the vehicle so the passengers can actually survive and not have so. Much.
Stress and not have so much chest injury and they will come with the airbags and pretensioner seat belts.
So if you bought the Vibe, which is the lower model entry level, no seat belt pretensioners at all.
If you bought the Essence model, which is their top of the range, only has it for the front seats. So if you're a passenger, you're
just going to smack your head into the back into the front seat. Well.
Is the seat belt what happens? To the current.
Would would would they bring it back or would have to range in the? ARM.
Not quite sure, I'd say too bad. I can't engineering how to make
it more structurally safe. Yeah, that's true.
That's, yeah, almost starting from scratch, isn't it really?
Yep. You wanna do that?
But I don't think that's entirely true what they've said they gonna do. Yeah, they just open rubbish
really, just to cover themselves.
Yeah. I didn't read much about the
about the other car, the Mahindra, cause I couldn't care less really. Really.
Sounds like who cares about that thing?
All right. That leads us into question 6
What Honda vehicle could be coming back to Australia?
David the Honda. Prelude law.
Yes, that could be coming back. I read It could come back as a
hybrid. Alright, could be coming back as
a full electric car. That's what I.
Heard. No full electric.
David would not be buying one at that point.
I think. That's all.
It might be, yeah. Or is that the same?
Photo that that that's that's left hand drive market only yeah. The Integra is basically the
Acura. Integra that's sold in America
is basically the Civic Hatch. Yeah.
Yeah, I did. I only get the Civic sedan,
which is an ungainly looking thing I saw in Singapore.
And not, not not nice. Much nicer than that.
A seat belt Pretensioners, though.
That's. Right.
Yeah, he's inside intrusion. The bare.
Necessities probably get off. Just a I mean, she said.
It has to be bad to get anything less than what that God wouldn't surely like. You'd expect that score in like,
a Mini mock. You wouldn't expect that in a
car made in 2023. To just have nothing, nothing at
all. Ridiculous.
Did you see that? Did the anniversary of Encap
couple of weeks ago, I think the 30th anniversary and they crashed, tested and perfectly nice TR Magna to show how far car designs. Come very rude.
Did it? Did Andrew Roseworth, like, call
up Compliance So you you monsters?
Evil. Evil.
Evil. He would have thought that was a
horror film. Huh.
It's perfectly chillax sedan in white with rear mudflaps and old person spec was lovely. Girl.
No. Actually, I mean it's slightly
in its favour, but yeah. Yeah.
Is this stop, stop. This is the quality content you
get here at Chapman on cards. All the the, the, the level of
interest that we've that we've completely lost allowances.
All those seven. People there still sticking
around from the quiz. I'm sure they would be Scotty.
That leads us to Question 7, and it's our motorsport one who won the 2023 F one season. Matthew.
Matthew. Mr Bishop and.
Yeah, Max Verstappen, very, very comfortably.
He he won it with a few rounds left to go, so hats off to him.
That Red Bull car has been a dynamite.
Ridiculously good. How about a look?
Just smoke one. AJ.
Where? Question #8 This is my favourite
1 list. Two things you learned from
Scott's Golf Tips of the Week. Matthew.
Matthew. I'll pay good attention to
these, Scotty. These are.
These are really important. Alright.
You gotta clean your balls. Yes, that's one.
And had a grip you shot. Nailed it.
Yeah, I've been working really hard on on those ones.
Like there are two that I remember the most of the most funniest ones. But you on daily, do you?
In learning how to position my fate, Learning, learning how to how to hold the the you know, the the the the overlap or the OR the you know the. I've been learning how to use
different coloured balls If I want to, if I want to see you know, especially if it's in the rough, learn how to do my swing and and follow through and learn how to be positive about myself.
You know you you you think positive you might have a bad hip but you gotta keep positive iti I pay attention.
I goodness does he pay attention.
I should get all points but that's.
Yeah, yeah. I think we'll just say that you
win, but I'll keep going anyway, just for fun.
We'll keep going. That leads us to question #9.
Which brand first introduced seat belt pretensioners?
Straight in there. Straight in there.
Walmart. No, not fall though.
Sorry. Matthew.
Matthew. Mercedes Benz.
Yeah, Mercedes, it was Mercedes in.
Mercedes is one of the two Mercedes.
That leads to my bonus question. If you just wanna take a pun at
this, which model in year do you think it came out?
So model and the year of that car.
Yeah. Chad straight in.
There they go. The W 116, good choice.
I was going to go around the 70 like mid 70s to late 70s.
We've really close. Probably 116.
I'll put it down. We'll do closest to.
OK, Yeah, yeah, that'll work. Well, Yep, would like to do
next. So it is 116.
Not gonna say. OK, OK.
Here you go with the year. See how you go with the year.
What year beginning? Well, I was gonna go 126, which
would have been 81 in Germany 82.
Hmm. I was gonna get that.
That was gonna be my answer, David.
So I will go something different.
I'm going to say, are you 201 baby bends down 1980?
Four. So it was 1981.
Oh. Yeah, the six.
There you go. It came out on the S class. 126.
81. Umm.
So that's a long time ago for something so great, really.
And they don't have them in a car in 2023.
That's insane. Yeah.
So, you know, is like 42, nearly 43 years ago now.
So yeah. So.
I I just don't see something like that as part of cutting costs. There's no way that will cost
you too much to have something that every vehicle.
Has like what? What it this way it's it's their
cost them a lot in terms of salad because people are gonna just be like whoa that's that's not good like that that that that'll that'll cut. Like you know when when when
when cars going when companies get a bad name you usually kind of stinks. I mean, look, having a Jeep,
that was something Heaps of cars and they started doing things and now they're kind of nowhere. So.
And what's what's number one? Number one, this generation,
It's safety. Safety is huge now.
If I if a little Fiesta, I can get five stars, surely a full sadan and pickups like that. Can I have stuff like a like a
pretensioner and stuff? So that's just, yeah, that says
all you need to know about certain compact car companies.
Lead us to our last question. There's no school check first
because this is what this is quite tight now Chad.
Sorry, you're you're a little bit behind.
You'll get there. You're on your own one.
Myself 5-6 and David is on 5 1/2.
So close game. All alright.
Let's just this one this questions for like 10 points and then taking the win. Yeah.
Government. Question #10 Which car is the
number one top seller in Oz for 2023?
Well, you beat me there. Oht That was hard.
I'm out. I'm out of.
I'm out of the running because you didn't for me.
So it's out of between him and David.
Not yet. You don't have to go with Chad
on that one or I can. He just got in.
That was just that was hard to pick up on.
There was just lots of sounds. It's gonna be the MG3.
No. That's a good choice, though.
They've sold a lot of those. It is up there, but it's not
number one for 2023. David, David, you you were in
next you get your first dibs. I was gonna say I think it's one
of two. It's one or two.
Yeah, I know you're gonna say. And it's it's gonna be it's a
5050 choice. I'll go toward Hilux.
Yeah, it is. Ford Rangers.
What was your second one? Ford Ranger.
That's number two. I love trucks.
Don't know where they're. Obsessed.
You know what #3 is? OHS.
It's been a bit of a. Bit of a bit of a wild horse,
No? I don't understand.
I don't mean it's not Tesla Model 3, is it?
No, it's up there, the Teslas, but I think the Tesla's in the top eight or something. I think it's definitely the top
ten, but no #3. Would be MGZ.
No. Think about.
Think about what's already the top two.
Ah, it's probably like a like a Triton or something.
Or or. Both keep going.
I'm wrong. Yeah, that's that'd be up there
or? BT50.
Think of alum. Oh, Dmax.
Yeah. It just got into #3 recently.
I was just reading about before I did the quiz.
That that's embarrassing, isn't it?
That's our top three. Roll of 2023 isn't?
So far in 2023 that's, yeah, not monthly, that's all up so far in 2023 this year and we're near the end.
So it's not really changing much now.
Australia that is an absolute. What's What's the fast non
pickup flash mute? You gotta go down to about 64.
Yeah. I would have to have a look, I
can't remember off top of my head.
Or the Mazda 3 still is pretty high up there I think.
Building Corolla out sells it though cause like cause corrosion. Been Coral, always a strong
seller. She's like the the top 10 from
like if you look back ten years ago, the top 10 is so different, like it's complete. It's only 10 years.
Yeah. So the MGZ ZF is #4.
And you know, the MGS was up there.
Yeah, yeah. That's the small SUV.
S yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, he says. So there's.
And then goes HSHS. Yeah, so.
Yeah, that's not an SUV or anything.
Is the Hyundai I30 at #10? Well, so.
The order of round. Four the Tesla Model Y,
Mitsubishi Outlander CX5, and the Hyundai Tucson.
Wow. And then the I.
Made the list, but that's that's surprising that's released.
Yeah. We are a really weird country in
terms of car consumption. We are.
Yeah. It's, I mean, if you look at the
cars, like if you think back to 10 years ago, you can see like the there was more sedans and hedges on the road than there ever was and now there's more body highlighters and ranges and stuff like that. So yeah, I mean, look how you're
part of the problem. You heard me, mate.
That's my brother. He's.
He's, he's, he's, he's, yeah. He's got, he's got a range of
OHS. Tell them you part of the
problem as well. Is there?
But anyway, so score check gentlemen.

17 Acceptance Acceptance. Get the interceptors on the
front. Stock is on the way.
That that would be, that would be a good time gentlemen plugs.
So, Scotty, you've got the week please.
Don't Tip of the Week A little bit different this one.
When you're thinking of ready to tee off on a hole, think of the whole backwards. So start at the grain.
Where you're thinking of the position of the pin is what's around it, the bunkers, the water, and go backwards through your head. Where do you want that ball to
sit? Do you want it before the water?
And then what club would you want to hit onto it and go work your way backwards to the driver?
Or maybe a driver. You'll hit it too big and you
don't want the driver. Might tee off with an iron or a
smaller wood instead. So yeah, think backwards.
Like it's like it when I got out of the table, so I want to get quizzed about it next time I'll remember.
I'll increase it from remembering 2 to 3.
David Prince, you do a podcast. Where we did we?
Yes. We still do.
We still do. That's coming back.
Going to be a Christmas miracle too.
No, there's not Christmas miracle going around this year.

And we talk to people about the cars that they've experienced in their lives. Very good.
Come on. Can't wait for it to come back

And I'm like, I'm like I said, I said look, I said look, he's a very handsome looking guy There, it looks like me, sounds like me, but I'm not too sure if it is me.
And she's like, what do you mean it is?
You. Like yes it is.
It's obviously And then she she preceded to say that this deserves a an Oscar for my performance.
OHS go brilliant. I was, I was like, I was like,

mentioning it ever again. Gloss.
But anyway that doesn't. Yeah it was funny.
It was funny. It was.
