The motherland was pretty good.

You know, I did a lot of interesting car spotting.

You know, looking at weird, weird and wonderful models that they've got.

Tudor Corolla, Tudor Focus, Tudor Swift.

Nothing that we get here, obviously.

No, it was really good.

You know, driving over there was a whole other ball game, obviously.

It's, it's like just, it's a free for all everyone.

Everyone's just trying to get to where they're going and no regardless.

But, you know, somewhat I was less stressed driving over there than I was in Melbourne,

which is weird.

Example.

So nobody follows the rules.

Yeah.

Therefore there are no rules.

Therefore everyone kind of just gives each other a little bit of space.

So it's kind of good.

It is.

Yeah.

It's, which I thought was weird.

I'm like, I'm going to hate it because nobody follows it.

No, actually it kind of works.

It's like when there are no rules, then everybody's on a playing field level playing

field and everyone just kind of gives each other a little bit of wiggle room.

Yeah.

And it somehow works out.

But here, as soon as one person doesn't follow the rules, all hell breaks loose.

Right.

Like they, you know, they end up cutting across a lane and then cutting off

four people or something.

Right.

There's potentially four people being injured or, you know, whatever, like,

affected by, but over there, people just do what they want.

So you just get stuff at whatever, you know, I'm just, I'm just not going to

pay attention to it because it's, it's happening.

It's happening 24 seven.

Therefore you can't just get upset about someone not indicating or about

someone cutting you off.

You just, you know, you just kind of go, yeah, you know, whatever.

It is what it is.

I'm just going to keep just, you know, just be aware.

But everybody's way more aware.

Okay.

That's what I've also noticed.

Everyone just goes.

It's actually paying attention.

Yes.

But also, also being on their phone 24 seven as well.

So like people will literally just stare at their phone and drive.

And on top of that, they'll be like speeding.

They'll be drinking a coffee at the same time.

They're changing gears with the other hand.

Like it's, it is pandemonium.

But through chaos, there's some sort of like, you know,

I didn't see a single accident and I drove for, I don't know,

maybe two and a half thousand kilometers the whole time I was there.

I did a fair bit of driving and like I felt way more, you know,

in control of the things around me than I would over here,

which I thought was really weird because I didn't,

I don't think I should have felt that.

No.

I don't know what it is.

But, you know,

shout outs Turkey for not having any rules and therefore, you know,

just like keeping the country going somehow.

And, but yeah, look,

I also did pop out of over to Greece for a little while and that

was to take to Tikanis.

Yes.

And that was like being in a whole other like world.

Like that was so different to Turkey at the time.

Yeah.

I mean,

you can see literally you can see if some from some of the islands

you can see Turkey and somehow it's just white like worlds apart.

And it's like, I actually hate a driving in Greece.

Really?

Driving in Greece was just so aggravating because nobody had

any awareness of anything going on.

So there'd be a guy on an ATV doing three things.

You know,

you know,

and there's like a line of 25 cars behind him just holding up the

whole world and not pulling over and nothing like he was just.

He was just in his own world.

He's sipping a frappe cappuccino.

Fredo cappuccino.

Sorry for all that Greek viewers.

And,

you know,

I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do that.

I'm a big fan of cappuccino.

So if I'm all that Greek viewers and,

you know,

looking at his phone while writing an ATV on the road,

no helmet with his girlfriend in the back.

No helmet.

That's wild.

Yeah, it was just crazy.

And it was,

it was, yeah,

it was way,

way more aggravating than,

you know,

driving in Turkey somehow,

which I thought would be the opposite because,

you know,

Greece is in the EU.

I don't want to get political here,

but how are they in the EU first of all,

it was chaos.

Like everybody was just out to do their own thing,

but with no regard to anybody else.

anybody else, which in Turkey, it was similar, but people had an

understanding of what everyone else was trying to do. So they

would give each other, you know, breathing room and a bit of

space and kind of like, you know, letting people through or

whatever it is. Grease had none of that. Grease was just

like, yeah, it was just, it was chaos.

My brother driven risk is like his, his wife's great. Oh

right. Yeah.

Like they're all families, you know, great, great, great.

Yeah, full, full to kind of

Christos Anesti Greek, like, full, full on, you know, great,

great. He's like, I went there and he had an Opel Corsa as a

no, yeah, yeah, nice. And he's like, I still managed to crash

that. He's like, oh my God, he left it. He left it. He's put

in the clutch and it rolled back and he's like, I survived the

whole trip without without. He's like, it's cool. I rolled

back into somebody. Oh, no. Anyway, but, but he's like,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. He's like, nobody

does anything there. No, no, no, no. It's just like, they're

all relaxing. Yeah, I literally just there's no roadworks

being done because the guys are just standing around having a

cigarette and a coffee. There's just donkeys on the road. And

like, it's, it's, it's a weird, it's a weird, wonderful

place. But um, yeah, I don't recommend driving at all. But

yeah, no, look, I had a really good trip. Um, I was

away for a little bit and I missed all the boys and

missed talking crap about cars. And yeah, I'm glad to be

back. Yeah, we missed you on the show. We said numerous

jokes about you and your uncle. That's the Ford in, you

know, needing to get Robert Diff. Yes, absolutely. So yeah. So

that was all part of the experience. Yes, it's

definitely. There's a J2 holiday for sure. But yeah, it's

good to have you back, mate. Um, really, uh, you know,

it's, you know, there's a big chad shaped hole when

you don't yell. So thank you. So it's, it is good. It's

good to have you back. And, and hopefully, hopefully the

trip went well. Hopefully, um, you know, you got to see

if you're assuming you saw your family. I did. Yeah, I saw

family there. And, um, that was probably about a

wake worth of traveling with family, like seeing them. And

then the rest of it was just me and my wife just

sort of like sightseeing and which I hadn't even done

and really myself in Turkey. So I got to see a lot of

stuff that I haven't seen before. And Greece was

obviously, yeah, it was a whole new experience for

me because I'd never been to Greece and, you know,

being on an island and all that sort of like, we

went to Rhodes, which was just one of the biggest

islands that they've got there. And, um, yeah, it

was, um, it was a super cool experience seeing some

literally thousand year old things and, uh, my

buildings that I still like somehow together. And

yeah, it was really, it was an incredible

experience. And, um, yeah. Yeah, I'd actually

love to go because like, there's just so much

history, like, especially in Turkey, it was an

end. Like it's just, yeah, exactly. There's a lot

of crossover to like between them. And, um, you

know, they all invaded each other's country. They

all lived, uh, in the same place. And they all

ate, you know, the food was so similar and, you

know, like the, the, the cultures are so

similar in some sense. And then so far away

from each other at the same time. Um, yeah,

now it was super, super cool experience. I

really definitely recommend everybody to check

them out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just a

logitech room. Yeah. Yeah, I bet. I'm, I'm

keen to get over there. Absolutely. I can

recommend a few things. Yeah. Please do. And

I'll go to the Ford factory, speak to your

uncle. Yeah. And bring it back. Oh, we can

figure that out. Uh, Scotty Doe. How

plugging away. It's doing the use with

work. With work. Very good. Any holidays

planned? No, nothing planned. So nothing

as exciting as, as Chad's experience. He's

just a holiday to, uh, to, to Turkey. Nothing

as awesome as that. Well, we get on with

some car updates. Scotty, we'll start with

you, man. Updates with you, Brilla. What's

happening? Um, not so much on the car

front, but leading towards that. So, um,

since I've got the shed up and everything

I've started to put some things in the

shed and get that all sorted, which

means the garage is looking a lot more

emptier. So at the moment, there's two

cars sitting in there. So we've got the

blade and the inside in there. Okay. So

can fit two cars in there now. And so

does this mean the 31 can possibly

sneak home? Yeah, it can. So I just

got to move a couple more things

because I still got plenty of room

left in the shed. Yeah. And just tidy

it up a bit in the garage to make it a

little bit of a neater. So I kind of

just stack things on the back for now

until I realize where I want to, where

I want to put it and get nice and

tidy. And then yeah, it can, it can

live in there. Yeah, nice. I mean, you

can, you can chip away at it, do

things. Yep. Do all the little bits

and pieces that I want to and take

it out now and again and give a run

to work sometimes. Yeah, that's the

aim.

Not upset.

But yeah, it's a bit more roomier in

there than I thought. So yeah, our

two cars fit in there nicely.

That's exciting.

That's your updates. Chad, updates

with you, man?

So car updates. I didn't manage to

do a whole lot before I left to go

overseas. I, yeah, well, now four

weeks ago, I kind of remember what I

did, but so I got back last week

and I've been trying to plug away

at some little bits and pieces.

And I had the Mercedes at the

paint shop, which unfortunately,

thanks to you, Matty, I was able to,

you know, with your help, I was

able to get a relay and all that

sort of stuff to get it going.

And unfortunately, yeah, so that

actually ended up being the

issue, I think, which ended up

being well, no, it wasn't. So I

think my relay that I pulled out

of the Mercedes was broken, but it

was just the outside was broken.

I think so. But I thought, you

know, maybe if I get a new relay

might help. But it didn't. But

that's OK. It's still good to have

those as I found out, they're

very sort of sought after,

especially the especially OEM

ones. They're very sought after

and it's just good to have a

spare anyway. So thank you for

that. I really appreciate you

digging around for that. And then

so I went back to the Mercedes.

I think the second day after I got

back and I just did some tests.

I made sure it wasn't the

relays. And then I tried to see

if the only other thing that I

could think was the fuel pump.

So I was not able to hear the

fuel pump prime at all.

It was making no sound.

So I borrowed a multimeter from

business next door and I tested,

you know, the connection to the

fuel pump and it was getting

power, even though it was low

because the battery was a bit,

you know, it's down on amps and

whatnot. But it was getting

power. So I thought, well, you

know, there's power there.

So therefore there should be

fuel pump working. But I think

the fuel pump had had it.

So I sourced a new one from

a place in Tullamarine called

Jeez. So they they they work

with swan fuel pumps and

I think they're a distributor or

a supplier for swan.

So I was able to get one for a

really good price because, you

know, Repco had one and it was an

exorbitant amount that I just

was not able. I couldn't

justify. So, you know, I found

one for a really good price in

a place in Tullamarine and, you

know, it was a little kit that

comes with all the stuff you

need, all the connectors.

I went back yesterday and I

fitted the new fuel pump.

And yeah, that was it.

And the car fired straight up

basically. I drained the fuel

that was in the tank and I put

some fresh like 10 litres of

fresh fuel in it and the first

crank and it was just up and

running. Yeah. And I was like,

wow, I just I really expected

it to be a bigger struggle

than that. But thankfully, yeah,

that seemed to be it. So now

that, you know, the car is

able to be moved by its own

power. The painter said, you

know, he'll get on to it

and he'll start working on it.

So, yeah, fingers crossed.

Within the next couple of weeks,

I think it should be done at

least it'll be in primer and

then I can sort out hopefully

a livery for it and get it

wrapped and all that stuff.

And yeah, but obviously, once

the paint's done, it's still

got a lot of work to do.

There's a lot of mechanical

stuff that needs to sort of be

sorted out, you know,

bushings and I did notice,

hey, it's an all car.

Yeah, there's 40 years worth

of, you know, work that

sort of needs to be, you know,

caught up on basically.

So, yeah, that was a really

good, that was really good.

It really got me like jeet up

to, you know, keep going

with the car, which is, you know,

is kind of what I want.

And yeah, so that that was good.

I also had dropped the

the magnet to a

to a place for a roadworthy.

And I did that yesterday

and I heard back from the

I heard back today.

And unfortunately,

there's a bit of work that the

magnet needs.

And one of those things turns

out is the transmission

because it's just leaking

out of every orifice possible

for the transmission.

So the transmission

I've reached out to

Andrew Wigglesworth.

Shout out, maybe listening

right now. Maybe.

Oh, awesome.

It's coming in. Oh, perfect.

That's amazing. Well, definitely

here for that.

So, yeah, Andrew said

he will reach out to a few people

about it and I'll get back to me.

So currently, I'm just waiting on

that as the as the point

of whether I go ahead because

without a transmission, it's not

going to go anywhere, obviously,

but also the price of a

transmission is the other.

The factor is, you know, if

it's going to cost three grand

or whatever, then it's, you

know, I'm I'm thinking

I just cut my loss of sort of thing

with the car.

But apart from that, look,

it's just mainly maintenance.

It's maintenance. It's brakes.

It's it's front suspension.

It's a rocker cover gasket.

It is a thermostat.

It's oil, oil pressure,

sender, a switch, sorry.

And I think was that the list

that I say a couple of belts,

couple of early three drive belts.

And that would be that's genuine

maintenance is genuine maintenance.

And this maintenance that probably

has never had in the life

of that car because it's only got

fifty thousand days on it.

So it's not like anyone

would have done those things ever.

So, you know, apart from

the transmission being a bit

how you going at the moment,

the rest of the stuff is pretty reasonable.

I already got new set of ties on it anyway.

So just in case that, you know,

the transmission is a thing

that I can go ahead with.

We will, yeah, we'll sort it out.

And as long as I can get

a reasonably priced transmission,

I don't see why not.

I just get everything all of it done.

And and, you know, the guy

who you recommended a good year.

And yeah, he's looking after me

and he's pretty honest.

He's really honest.

And but he's also like

he's reasonable because he's like,

you know, this is needed for safety.

The other things, you know,

whatever, it's kind of cosmetic.

So we are able to, you know,

let it slide or whatever.

And but yeah, he was really good.

And and at the same time,

I dropped off the I 30 today

to get a new set of ties.

So I've got a new brand new set

of PS4 S's by Michelin.

He ordered in for me.

Got a well fitted new wheel alignment

and all that good stuff.

So that car is, you know,

ready, ready to be doing daily duties again,

which is good.

And I think, yeah, that's

that's about my updates.

Pretty sure.

I feel like I've

filled in a fair bit of time

in the last week, trying to get

all this stuff done.

So yeah, no, it's been a busy week

for me with us.

Well, I think if we can get

like a transplant of 500.

Yeah, I think that would go.

Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

So I think that we can do that

because like French, French shocks

are not much for that.

Yeah, exactly.

So it's just genuine

like breaks maintenance.

Yeah, it's stuff that needs to be done

for a decent size trip, like to Adelaide anyway.

So it's stuff that I would have done anyway,

whether it was picked up on roadworthy or not.

But yeah, the other stuff,

yeah, the transmission is the biggest one,

unfortunately, so we'll see.

Yeah, so we'll have to get that

transferred, we'll see if we can get a cheap one.

Because I think they're all the same.

Yeah, the full speed auto.

I don't know whether the models after the TS

and stuff have the same

automatics or we'll see, I guess.

Yeah, if they, if it's compatible, then why not?

You know, the thing that rules his connection,

yes, he wrecks them and he knows,

you know, he's, he's a specialist.

He's the guy.

Yeah, he is the guy.

So he'd be the guy in the know that comes to Magnus.

Yeah.

And like the fact that they said,

I had to be ready, but don't worry about the body.

It's just like, just get those few things up.

Quite literally, it's just maintenance items,

except for the trans.

Yeah, it's brake suspension, tires,

and then yeah, a massive leak from the transmission,

which would, you know, it would be definitely picked up on

or it would potentially cause a serious thing

on the road anyway.

So that's fair enough.

I think, yeah.

So, so we get a cheap, cheap transfer.

I think happy days.

I heard brakes and transmission.

What did I hear there?

Yeah, unfortunately, it needs a potentially

new transmission or at least a rebuild of the current one.

Why?

It's just it's leaking like a sieve out of the out

of the torque converter, apparently,

which has got something to do with the pump of the transmission.

Oh, yeah.

Because that train is beautifully.

That was lovely.

Yeah.

But yeah, I don't I don't know it might have just happened

from me driving to the to the shop yesterday.

I don't know if it's just been sitting and it's shifting fine.

Oh, look, it's shifting OK, but it's it's leaking.

So some has gone on there.

But it's definitely unfortunately, I was not

able to arrange that for a roadworthy with that leak.

So I have to look into a, you know,

a replacement of the transmission,

because I think even trying to get parts for it is a.

Can you see it or something?

Just like TV everywhere.

RTV, just the whole thing.

It's I think that's fixable.

Yeah, I mean, look, you know,

I can only go by what the mechanic has said.

But yeah, well, but it's

if you take in the whole thing apart,

it's like pretty much a rebuild at that point.

Yeah. And like the rebuild is the biggest money part of it.

So even slapping in a secondhand one

is probably going to be the the most the more cheap option,

which, you know, you'd hope it's a good good unit that's going in.

But obviously the other one fix anything.

Yeah, the other one fix or something.

Yeah. So it's yeah, it's a little bit of work.

So was that and brakes?

Yeah, brake, suspension, couple of drive belts

and, yeah, rocker cover leak

and the rocker gasket leak, and that's it.

Really, that's all it needs.

The dings and stuff, it's, you know,

they're going to pretend not to see it, which is the some of the dents are.

Yeah, it's a bit of a it's it's a gray area, you know?

But yeah, it's everything else.

Yeah, everything else seems to work out.

A new exhaust muffler muffler for the rear and that's about it. Yeah.

Well, I mean, all of that stuff was reasonably expected, except the trans.

I don't yeah, I don't recall it like when it was sitting in Tom's garage

or whatever leaking at all. Yeah.

Yeah, I mean, I didn't see it either.

I didn't see any leaks on my driveway, but yeah, it's gone to the shop and it's

is it pissing on the ground?

Yeah, yeah, even when I had it parked on the straight

as I was talking to the guys, I looked I came back to it

and it was just as a puddle of a little puddle, not huge,

but for it to be an active lake.

Yeah. Yeah. So we know it's not they're not making up.

No, no. Yeah.

The guys were fairly straightforward about it, too.

So yeah.

But yeah, the rest of it is just maintenance.

Yeah, pretty much as I said, we get a transport.

I think I think under 500 bucks for a second in trans and happy days.

The wasps has come back from the panel shop.

It has a respray rear bar and some repainted mirror caps

because they were a little bit faded.

Um, so it's looking schmick.

I booked the regio appointment for October the first.

So I just need to get my little roadie before then.

What else? What else? What else?

The Moke is leaking from the rear main seal.

So it too, Chad, is leaving a little puddle where I park.

There you go.

It's over. It's always, I mean, it's British.

So it's always leaked a little bit,

but it's worse from that from that area.

So you know what they say?

If it's leaking, it's still got oil in it.

They've got oil exactly.

So I'm, yeah, I'm a little, I'm a little bit like,

that probably means gearbox off and rear main seal and whatever.

That's, that's a, that's a, maybe that's a nice summer job for Ed, I feel.

The 380 SEL has had a bit of a, I think I mentioned it.

I had a bit of a shake down.

I did drive it for, did I mention that last time?

I think I drove it for a weekend and yeah,

it just got better and better.

And I was like, oh, I really like this car.

So yeah, that, that is in my garage.

And I'm going to condition the leather on it

and do a few other little bits and bobs.

But, but yeah, everyone really likes that car as do I.

So I just, as I said last time, I think I don't think I'm going to sell that.

I think I'll, I was like a keeper.

I think I'll just find a space for that somewhere.

Life's all about pleasures, isn't it?

Really? Or what brings you joy?

And that, that car brings me joy.

So, well, it can stay.

What else? What else? What else? What else?

The Honda CR-V's gone in to have the little road with the items it needed done.

So that was a few ball joints and bushes and things.

Nothing crazy, maybe about a grand worth of work

and a few hundred dollars worth of parts on top of that.

So that's in the shop.

I took the Pajero up to the snow over the weekend.

Of course, that loves the snow, so that was happy.

My dad's Pajero, though, he's an interesting one.

So that's the newest in our fleet of five family Pajeros.

That being a 2018 build, that's just clocked 138,000 K.

So not crazy Ks in anyone's book for one of those.

The first issue, which I might have mentioned a few weeks back,

was it was making its own oil, as in the oil level was rising,

which is usually a sign of diesel or DPF burns not happening.

Probably diesel going into the sump and increasing the oil level,

therefore diluting your oil,

therefore fucking your engine, excuse my language, if you're not careful.

So that that was sort of had a quick oil and filter change at 130,000 Ks.

And then it.

It was being monitored.

So dad's done about 8000 K in the last month,

which is a big trip to Queensland and back, essentially.

So he's been monitoring the oil.

He said, look, it's just above the high mark, you know,

like it has crept up a little bit, but it's nothing crazy alarming.

So I'm keen to get that in the garage and I bought that myself

and I'll probably get the oil and filter done again now.

And then just just make sure it's every seven and a half

that it gets oil and filter in that car with the DPF.

But the interesting thing was, dad rang me from somewhere

around Canberra and said, oh, my car needs four new shocks.

And I'm like, what are you talking about?

Like that car was perfect, you know, like it's 130,000 Ks on it.

It's not it's spent its whole life on bitumen.

It hasn't towed anything.

It's never been off road.

I can't. This is the perfect environment for a car.

And he said, yeah, we're on these roads up in Northern Queensland

somewhere and he noticed it was getting a lot bouncier.

And now he had four people in the car and some luggage in the boot.

That's it. Not towing anything, not overloaded.

And this is a Pajero.

So you'd think it could handle four people in the bloody car.

Anyway, so, yeah, I was intrigued by the time he got home.

He took it to a garage in Canberra and they said, yeah,

they're all leaking and they're stuffed.

So I took it to the car wash last night to wash all the bugs off it

and they really are stuffed like it.

I've never I've never felt a car so bad in the front end.

It was awful.

So whatever Mitsubishi put in that car

as the standard shock, I think is is is maybe a cheaper component

than what they used to.

Like my brother didn't do shocks till 350.

My page is on the original shocks at two thirty seven.

Like these things don't just fail like that.

But the dad's car has.

So I can only assume that, yeah, in the later models,

they just went a bit a bit tight and put a shock in that was

substandard or maybe they sourced it from somewhere else or something.

I don't know.

Did they all happen to go at the same time

around this?

Certainly the fronts, the backs, the backs might be savable,

but they said they were leaking.

So I think we'll just do all four.

So between the DPF issues and the shocks just going like that,

I'm not overly impressed with that car at the moment.
