"It's just, you know, I'm my daily. His Subaru. Liberty is 20 years old. Well, and when you think about, like when I have a look at that marks and stuff like that, like, oh, I just feel like it should be in better condition. Until I realized it's 20 years"
"all you've got to go on is really some out there styling. Or maybe a I mean, I'm there's not many features that I think is particularly cool because of all been done before, you know, like head-up displays been around for years and I mean, maybe something like an S-Class or what was it made back or something that had the style Starlight roof, liner, or whatever? We look out from the back seat, looks like he's staring at the cosmos."
"I think it can be partly what you don't see around anymore and partly design-related. Yeah. Yeah, it's interesting that G-Wagon you reference it because I think the original ones that came about with a 80s. Yeah. I think early 80s."
"Yeah. I'm just thinking like Hulk Octavia it or not. I tell you. I'm trying. All these nice..."

Does professional idiot. Drive.
After hours. David nice to see my friends.
Cryptococcus tonight because because because Scott is all over it. And, you know, he's the golfing
man. He's the, he's the Krypton, man.
He's, he's the new house, man. He's everything.
He's all things to all men. Mr. Scott, he was discouraged on
some jack of all trades. Cool.
Trace its good. Look.
Good to see you. Fellows are quite always some
card those quickly. Especially on before you into
tonight's topic. About what what do we think?
Certifies a kind of being who will get with Birds David, you can start diving it, care Updates.
This Lynn. The last week I took the car be
of the 77 Civic wagon. One of the members, who's done a
couple of risks toes on on the early Civics and has a 1500.
Like the wagon is, offered down at Phillip Island to rebuild the car because mine's never been spot-on.
It's all it had a mind of its own will But the cows drivable it's just really down on Power. And that's, that's a jetting
problem. I've been told but this guy's
done quite a few and he said, hey look, I'm happy to do it for you. If you want to move it off and
bring it down. So he ordered a good ol Rock
Auto Rebuild kit for it. It's a cahan copy and they also
came with Utah. She copies but the K hand says
are a much better car be. So it's a good Baseline to start
with and of course, He handed it to me and said, old, I can see.
That's, that's not good, and that's not good.
And that are rings perished and but ik.
Well, let's wander around at all.
Really, but also, I'm expecting big things from that.
He's dead leaves on the other side of town.
So I was able to take the car for a bit of a run out to Altona. So I took the n14 a gate that a
bit of a charge up and went like the little train at the, at the Freeway or heard out today that the city is finished.
Lovely. They gave me.
Yeah, I have an open work order and I actually dropped the car down there on the 30th of December.
I'm glad they're not charging me an hourly rate because that would be not pleasant but the guy that was working on a been away for a month so that was okay and hey was out of the weather and it was safe on a parked on a hoist and not even the time As we're getting tired. So there was, that was good.
But they, it had a bit of a leak from the camp seal, as they delve a bit deeper into it. So, while the timing belt was
done and the can cover was ofsted, they replace the seal and he, he said the car, the the Cavs probably got a bit of where it's obviously, it's showing 28,000 cases, but stop 28,000 cases. It's obviously 128 or 228, or
328. It hard to tell with a car with
a five-digit odometer, I'm pretty sure it's 128 the rest of the character Edition. So good, but he said these the
early protists it is that we had did develop some movement and we're somewhere in the cam and and they were putting you put a new seal in a fit at all up. Put her up for a road test.
Came back, it was leaking again. So he actually used, I'd never
heard of them before, but he said, he said he used, I think he called it a, a super sleeve, no super sealed, super seal, and it's a basically, a stainless steel ring.
It actually goes in, at a cam seal fits and is actually not crushed into place, but it creates a new mating surface for it. And yeah, solve the problem,
brightest, not leaking and that all started because I wanted him to check the tappets. It was quite a Pity that engine
but now it's purring like a pussycat that you can barely hear it here. It took me over and he said I
got as good as I could. I said, it's that's amazing.
About, was it sound like a tractor when I brought it in?
So, that's good. Kind of be nice to get that back
on the road. I'll probably pick that up on
Saturday bit, quite a bit of movement around the trade, this week. Of course, with the Grand Prix
this week, I had to do a repair on a dbx, that was going to be picked up to yes. Tomorrow, by one of the F1
drivers for Aston Martin because of course, they have to have transport when they're in a new city, so no fear Rio for them.
So one of the press dbx as was Listed into service but they discovered someone had backed into something and broken, the rear diffuser on so who would I possibly do?
It said I probably could, I probably could they actually their terminology was? We need a love job done.
And I said what's your definition of a love job Lovejoy? Normally is that you want
something done for free? I'm not going to work on a 180
thousand dollar SUV you know for a Formula One driver to drive around Melbourne. 12th races in town.
But nothing just because you know for the love of it so oh no we didn't mean that. It's a good.
Okay, look the first thing that cow is fixed.
And yeah, it'll probably I'm not casting aspersions on any of the Formula One drivers but I have known cars to be loaned out and come back, not quite in the same condition.
They were actually started in. So we'll see how that one ends
up but that's about me City Civic.
And yeah. That's mother doesn't matter
before we get to use. Cody we've been joined by mr.
Bunting, how. I Edward.
Hello everyone, sorry, I'm late. Yeah, it's okay.
Will give you will give you a quarter of a verbal warning first, and final and a brick red card because it's a very sporting analogy for you through.
I don't see you into sports at all Edwards.
So, this is quite what you mean. I went to the gym last night,
the guy to the guy man. Last Friday night I drank beer
and watch the footy o KZ. Geez that's that's that's that's
new for you at would? That is very new for?
Yeah, I really like watching pudding but who do you follow dude? Also on.
Yeah, let's move on Scott's. I bet you're not enjoying the
free at the moment Maddie. Oh let's not talk about even
he's a little side note. I was walking to the station the
other night or near the station in this girl had Just come back from the essence, in Hawthorne game and I didn't I hadn't watched that one. So I didn't actually know who'd
won and I saw her scarf and I said, oh, can I just ask who won? And she said bombers and I was
like dear how I go forth on so yes I showed an interest mmm-hmm so you've got other interests besides besides the automotive topics I would. Yeah, that's right.
I'm very, very well-rounded. He's a he's a sporting man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was watching Josh dunkley, get
interviewed, you know but it's a surprising.
You know who that is. That's embarrassing.
That's yeah, I'm just going to name drop every maybe Scotty's golf tips. I'll be sort of doing the footy
tipping. Oh, no, that's that's good.
Yeah, we should, we should have. Its tips got his golf.
Just don't make me doing tonight, I'm not prepared.
Now you're doing it tonight so we'll Scotty updates with you, my friend. Yeah, good picture.
Ed rocking up to car meets and you opens of boot and pulls out he's 40. Yeah, the kick around, you have
a kick. It's a key - Sunrise.
He's got his 40 cards, you just to stack them there.
Idiot carapace with me again very quiet.
Just spending time trying to get the house organized and buying some bits and pieces here instead of cast stuff but Saturday. I'm going to the formula once
when we were 13, it should be good.
Because I got the for the first time.
The formula twos and the Formula 3 S goes to fairly light.
Now to I was just having a good schedule so you got some V8, Supercar practice, qualifying first stop for you.
Then you got some Formula 3 and sprint races in.
There. And then, you'll have Formula
One, go out and do their practice.
And then after you got Formula, One will do their qualifying.
And then after that, you still got a V8 Supercar race and then the Carrera cup before it finishes at, like, almost 8:00.
That's pretty good. It's a good stuff.
That's a good day's worth of racing, really?
Yeah, plenty of it. Yeah, so celebrity Talent.
Don't just say, you know, like it's that slipped.
A huge hole in the evening. I reckon in people who can't
drive this screamer. The track and District.
However, you watching that on TV and let's celebrities, I'm like, I don't know who that is. Yeah, there's quite a bit of
that painting David. There was the, The Minis they
did, the minis, they did. They did the, the BMW 1 series.
Just go to lines. They did the fold lines are sr2
Series. Yeah.
So, um, Kandi Burruss, why don't we - they did?
The Listen Polska. Triple Aces.
Yes, my peep light car. My license car pulls out.
Victor Chiklis open with the ad. For that it's impossible.
Ha AAA SS. It was like a such a powerful.
Add like a certain 80s, miserable add.
It was great, but it should be good story.
That should be rule should be real fun.
Yeah, than that. Unfortunately, their Skyline
still just sitting there, it's okay.
Yeah, a little bit longer. So, I get everything organized,
organized. Here's pretty much taken, most
of my time at the moment, but we will next step, I think is organized an Auto Electrician to come around and just just check it out. Do a few bits and pieces, get
that headlight working and just check some of the connections because I've heard it can run a little bit rough.
And a little bit of a mess because of a couple connections.
I can't remember exactly. But I, I saved it on my phone.
So I'll bring that back up because someone's had the same issue. You and you got to guy to look
at some connection part there and rewired that bit, and it's been running absolutely meant for him.
Since I mean, when you think about it, all that wiring in there is pretty bloody old. Hmm.
Anything at all. Died back there, 89 1989 wiring.
So I sent you a little bit, crunchy, crunchy, and old maybe not is pretty new to me, David, and I still think that's pretty new. Well, you know it's funny
because I always kind of thought, you know.
Yeah you know he's not too old but when you do the maths my goodness even just 2000's. I'm like really, it's weird that
like my lasers coming up to Club permit soon.
I'm just like, like that's like insane.
It feels like that car. Like I remember when that car
came out. I remember when they were new
it's and like I like I was a kid when they were new and you know as I mentioned on the show that one extra day we worked at Ford got one brand new. I was that was his those his
daily driver and I'm like, I can't This is so cool.
We had the old ke laser which was Never As Good, and then now it's like that cars. 22 years old.
It's just, you know, I'm my daily.
His Subaru. Liberty is 20 years old.
Well, and when you think about, like when I have a look at that marks and stuff like that, like, oh, I just feel like it should be in better condition. Until I realized it's 20 years
old. Okay, okay.
Do a couple of Oops. Yeah, you know, it's gone.
I'd like this pump thousand, kazon it to 240.
I think to 40,000 caves head gaskets. 20 years old is pretty
darn good. I think, at this point Scott you
should just keep it and put in a club, but you may as well that was, that cow will be going to Club him before the skyline at this, right? No, I don't think you're wrong
message. Gosh.
Yeah, feeling hot. It's not wrong.
Good it. Well, I mean I really like that
Liberty Athena Liberties done very well for you scolding.
So I think you know if couple years it'll be like, well, it's clobberin time. Yeah, it's yeah.
It's been really, really good at at the moment was still running fine, but it does need a new power steering belt.
It gets the squeaks, it will do that, it's from squeaky but then it goes away once you start it up and let it run for a bit and it goes away. But still Our piece if I should
probably do it. Yeah.
Try try to tighten it up or put a bit of like like like like Davidson on there. Like it's a bit of a yeah, I've
done that. It probably last about a week or
so and then it just goes back again.
So I just put a new belt on it. Scott, that's what I'm going to
do when I got to get a time. I'll hopefully, it's not too
tricky. The air conditioning belt and
pulley was easy to do. So I think I'll probably have to
remove the alternator and stuff to get to it.
Especially another Subaru news, star.
Another care update from just quickly friend of my daughters, had a impress, a PhD had a 93 Impreza.
So one of the very first shapefile to was an hour local mechanic that it knows make the door locks gone, and the ignition lock, you know? They Jam something in the issue.
Not because they're, well, that's right, if you can get it out, I said, I've got a great guy that great locksmith and he fixed it a lock that had another key.
Jammed into it anyway. He got it off for measly look.
It's really not worth fixing the cars, just damn it.
That's had it, you know? It's she should you update the
car you know and she doesn't want to do that.
She's all for saving the world and you know not just throwing water. How many 93?
How many cows on it? Good question.
It's not not astronomical but you know, it's got it needs driveshafts. It's needs a muffler.
It needs do this. And this and this and this and
this. So it's been that's been A true
all she slowly chipping away. But anyway, someone will pinch
to smash the door lock and let's try the ignition option.
Anyway, couldn't get a second hit, the log locksmith said, look, I can't fix the lock, it's absolutely u.s. inside.
He said, you'll have to give a secondhand one and then I'll code it to match and bottle on my butt.
And I thought Rock Auto. I thought, wonder wonder if
record as got anything that would we bang 93?
Subaru, Impreza steering Barrel to Nuke?
He's delivered. To morandini 65 dollars in four
days ago and she had a second key for that. Well, that was Two persons.
They've got a door lock listed for Subaru for whole lot of cars but obviously, the just the barrel for the door and that is III. I think L got that book.
Well, you knew aftermarket one for the door for 33 bucks and then manually 465, study could be get back on the road.
I always liked that trajectory it like I really respect what she's doing in terms of keeping that car on the road because otherwise, it just goes to scrap.
And yes, It'll get recycled to a degree but it's far more environmental. D say it to keep that car
running for another 5-10 years or whatever.
Then didn't going and buying another one and rampant consumerism of producing more new ones.
So and often they get written off as such silly things like that and you just go. Well, if you're smart about
where you go, like you guys have been, it's really satisfying to sort of go. Well okay, even if it's adapt
box to do drive shafts in a muffler and a In the door locks and give it a Polish in a vac and spending a thousand.
And if that gets you, another three, four, five years of Motoring, that's really cheap motoring real cheap.
Once I had a chat tool with it after on spoken to the mechanic and you know he wasn't Keen but once I talk to her I thought well we're going to have to go, you know, like we've got to see what we can do, she loves the car and it was the first car she's had it probably 12 years you know, 30 days on that.
And yeah just a plain white GX simple as a five-door man.
Annual that it's manual, she drives men's.
Yes, I'll hopefully a live again.
Yeah, I think that's good. It's a shame to see things end
up with the wrecker for relatively minor when they are inherently. Good cars and we see it all too
often. I mean, like might arago, you
know, that was that was not because of the steering column damage or that the ignition lock damage.
When they stole it, they didn't even damage the door locks.
I think they got into the sliding window but It was written off because of that and you just think that's nuts.
The rest of the cars. Perfect.
Why don't you get any ideas sensor for my laser years ago?
Like and and I'm and I want to get one of those record.
I said oh yeah we've got, we've got to go refresh si2 and stock.
Actually just came in last week, I'm going.
Okay, but I got that. I recognized the car.
I was a guy from my area. It was a silver s R2 and I don't
like this. There's nothing wrong with these
guys like yeah, you're right. There's only one with a daily
thing. It did they it's on the head
gasket and the guys I Gotta See rid of it need three.
He's like he gave it to us. So I mean, I happened on your
car and you've proven, its I mean, you rent rebuilt, the motor at the same time because your choice but because the case and everything but it's just that's not a right awful thing.
It's probably probably spot, six, seven hundred bucks to do a head gasket and the things we're perfect.
Yeah. So like the Cubs meant and I was
like, oh well I'll I mean, I did break my heart to do it, but I took bits and pieces of it and I was like, well I'll take this will take, that'll take, this will take that.
And I'm like so he actually he's like he's like, he's like The way to fix it. So he pissed off to us, and I'm
like, what? A shame.
It is bought the whole car and done the head gasket and driven around it. You know, I was actually half
tempted but it was only to steal another car if they just like logged on top of another. That's they often.
Just and I was like, I do because I underneath talking to be damaged. So I was like, I took a few bits
and pieces and I was just like, wow, what a waste, you know, like how many cases either way it was?
I think it was like, 250 or so like it was, it wasn't Marcin.
I think I'm insanely having him to stage.
And age killed kind of killed it that gasket and like, yep, throw it away. I remember the car because it
had it had like a, like, a little graze on the rear bar and I was like, I know this car when he's like, yeah, it's right here. And I like, was it?
Yeah. Well, did you just say the blank
is that to I tagged you in the other day?
Just said, no, you did not busy road.
I'll talk to you later, okay? Okay.
Well, is it Move Along? Nothing to see here, actually,
that sort of Detective Howard I'll have to go after semak took. Actually, he did live a long and
he didn't sleep well, Edwards updates with you.
Oh, what? I've been doing a bit of driving
MX-5 nothing too exciting, bit of driving multi-vendor, web, sort of back driving multiband. As I mentioned last time, it has
a potential mechanical issue that I'm sort of monitoring so I'm back driving it. I'm loaning it to run.
And tomorrow, he's going to drive it down the country and do a few days in its put some case on it and see how it behaves.
What else can I tell you? What else can I tell you?
Nothing really nothing else. How boring is that for me?
That's very dull moment. No, that's all right.
Normally, I got something else going on and are usually you do bunting. Usually you do well, I'm feeling
out of sorts and what are you got Maddie?
Well, I had the road. I got me again.
The spicy. I've got my God.
So they got me toward the end of parties on Wednesday really, I was dead to the world since then went back to work today which has been nice but right and how to do some stuff on cars.
So I did a just got a piece that like I had all these little Trinkets and things that I've gotten at the Wreckers.
I don't get a chance to put on some cars and do.
So I think I'll message you guys like the little little washer washer clip I would put that on and just little things like that. Did that tied the garage a few
times? I installed a head unit reverse
camera and you know I mean George you who you guys?
I think you guys have all Met George.
He's Pam's Pam's, other half. He bought it.
He bought an XJ Cherokee. I'll really low my like really
nice example which are kind of becoming a sort of the car now, because actually quite quite a robust quite a robust Jeep for.
And and this probably the only Jew, but people would buy because it could acquire mechanically reliable.
So I So that all for him because he's like, yeah you just do it.
So I was like, oh sure, I got nothing else to do so I did that. Well, that was fun.
But yeah, my sister, she is which is why message you earlier David. She's actually my cars running
wrap in the engine lights. Come on, my God.
Okay. Bri, you know.
Yeah. Why should I dug down?
Bring it over some secret Agutter, take it to render.
So she do it the right now and he scanned it and it needs a air flow sensor. If I mean, I'm just yeah, one of
those things stunt that guy's done, 300,000 cases me already so So I have to say I called the place to get, we've got some but the only place is going to be in Clayton and I know you miss the princess does a bit of driving around the world.
So I thought I might get you to potentially pick that up for me and I will come pick it up off you two because I won't be able to get there during work hours because I close at 5:00, your sister to go pick it up. She does the same thing.
She's got, she's a teacher. We can't get there at this time
as the smell of Decay to go after hours too.
Hard for us to do stuff as Teachers report, but we don't get weekdays off only get three months off a year, however, not by our choice, forced forced to have three months off a year.
Yes, exactly. I start out with it, all the
other kids and everything goes up gets all expensive.
Don't even if we need one day off at any time, we can't use our personal leave or anything. When I get paid.
You tell him, you tell him Scotty you tell them everything.
Scott, you have been told that accepted yet.
Maybe you should try Rock Auto maybe you'd have them in your hot little hand in mine. It's my recorder in the week.
Yeah. Well you know I just kept a
record of sight just like a minute ago.
I was like can you get a few things?
So but yeah, I kind of need to get her back on the road ASAP.
The cost will draw which is just it's just idling really poorly like yeah that's yeah. And if I sensor will do that and
it's just like it smells like petrol, my God.
It's running right through that, it would just be over fueling.
So that's totally fixable very easy thing, whatever to throw the car away for that mr. Prince, it's case scenario this
case scenario, it's just a sensor, not a, not a head gasket being Surah life. That's I think that's been
virtually virtually. May our I'm thinking of, you
know, like I've been in my time to do nothing.
I've been going to kind of just photoshopping some some the side profile of the Scamp. On a tropical tropical like
some, some interesting interesting things on their crappy. You putting grabs, I want to put
on, we put like a cool retro graphic on it.
I think that'll be cool. It's like it's either that or
the one stripe over the over the side of the car.
Like the one thing, the one strike could be cool.
So I want to give it something ought to give it a personal touch. That's easily reversible, don't
worry. So I want to give it the only
get like a nice Personal Touch which I think would be kind of cool. So all that thought.
Sorry to interrupt, okay on that thought.
Wanted for the r31 skyline just try and find a an old Nissan dealer back in the day okay get the Retro sticker and put on the line now we're talking. Do you know where it was sold
new? Does that a car had books are
not doesn't, okay, okay. If you can, obviously it doesn't
really matter at this point. If we can find an old stick at
the be one online, I could, I could remake, I could remake that for you and we can I can put on your car.
I'd so by that. You know, how I can, I can get
it. I can Can make all that happen
for you. Scotty.
So what's we'll talk after the show?
But I will, if you can find a good one, I'll recreate it.
And then I've got a printer that does, the does vinyl pink prints. Like, I did my stickers notes
and they can if you had like, you know, Ridge hand Nissen or yeah, sales Center back in the Elizabeth Street or McLean's teat off there. Another one in moment that
Lobster total of two cars. I think it's gonna look really,
really cool. I really do.
The I've had a from years and years and years ago, I remember, I used to just Pete with the weather detailing.
As I just peel the stickers off and stick them on the, on the Gambit cabinets in the the detailing Bay and usually I was at a dealer and they had a really old John lists to go early so early to mid 70s with the old Honda logo on it and stuff and I said to Kyle. Can I have that?
Yeah, sure sure. So I can remember this would be
25 years ago. Pick everything up here.
Please, I've had it all this. It's time and image scared for
me and as made copies of it and because the stick is a bit old and age that they look all old and age to, because it's just a scan of that sticker. That's cool.
It looks brilliant. So the wagons got one on was
actually sold in John bled on before Back At One Stage, and the city's got one on a legal level.
So there, but I haven't got the right stick with it yet, but it looks red and period. So really good Scotty.
I think that that's an idea side.
Also, for us, we go to render like, You and I will go to car parks and even go to the records and we see the old things to take a photo of mascara, with our phones, do a real nice copy of them, take them and is in to recreate them.
And say here you want you on an old.
Original sticker wheel, doesn't matter as an investor, I would really like dark and it's absolutely, absolutely.
So I'll let you go to Cars and Coffee.
Just opening a briefcase in the boot of your car, with all these different old-school, stickers, and like that.
That would be, that would be so sick that we're gonna with bringing that would bring a crowd.
Yeah, I completely agree, doesn't matter.
You know, wherever you go, all these car shows and stuff, they don't really have those retro stickers that you'd want, especially when it comes to Australian deliver cars and strange, a little husky more popular.
So, you know, you got an old magna or something like that.
You want just to, you know, because they're coming more popular. So you'd want to find out where
it came from her. Originally, because all these
deals are all closed and done, but will be so cool to have that sticker. Really good, historic
Department, I know it can take While to get it through with it, you can get a printout of your car and from from the VIN number with the color and all that, and this and the deal of that it was dispatched to. So those things are really good,
really good time. Therefore du Shi, it's a free
service to. Like I don't have all my cars
except the fiesta because I'm because you were there when I was there but you giving me a VIN number and it takes them about two weeks, but they tell you every car like, how many were made in that spec? How many in that Color.
How many with those options? How many, with those accessories
and where will? And where it was, where it was
sold new, like the two Roots original deal, I which it which is really quite school out of the freezer as like that, they don't have to do that. But like that's that's it's very
cool. That is awesome.
So yeah, I would highly recommend if you, they'll be good, if other companies kind of did that too.
So, do you we've got your Honda Civic, you know, on our database. It was just it was so it was
sold at Real way we have you and give you a date of delivery and you know, and it even even tells you when they were made, you know, known those things. So it was pretty, it's pretty
cool. It's a pretty can get them for
any, you cable car. There's a good system in the UK,
they called her, and she'd certificates, and you can, the anything that was built in the UK, pretty much, any brain can get a certificate and then, and obviously videos in deliver cars, it actually tells you the deal is ship, you know.
Dispatch to kill her for, you know, on the 7th of June 1964.
You know, that's awesome. That's actually really, really
cool. The fact that it tells you what
it was mainly everything to I laughter, I'll have to send you guys the one for the typhoon because it says congratulations you have found a like a genuine fpv.
Like I was like oh that's really cool.
I can say was It's a good song and I know it.
Would you had a question? Another thing else is more a
statement than a question the association of Motoring clubs, a OMC is an organization. I don't quite know what they do.
But anyway, one of the things they do, is, they inherited or purchase all of the old Dewey Decimal System, type cards from the Motor, Registration Office in Victoria.
So if you have, An older car. And you have the engine number
of the car that if its original or the chassis number or the original Ridge, you can find out often.
Those are the numbers and they will for a fee.
Go back and do a retrieval for you as well in my first-ever Mercedes-Benz 280s. 1970, didn't have the original plates on it
when I got it, they had been swapped to sort of personalized plates in the 1970s and I want him to know what the original red was. So I had obviously the chassis
number of the car and the engine.
The car. So I wrote to the a OMC and Via
their details on their website, whatever, and eventually they wrote back to me and said, oh yeah, we found the car in the data card and your car was registered, you know, kpp 191 on this date in 1970. So I was able to find out the
original plate number for that car.
So now it only goes up to a certain point and then they swapped over to computers and then you got no chance after that. But for anything that's sort of
like 40s 50s 60s. T, 70s.
And I think maybe partly into the 80s, you might be in luck contacting the OMC to get details.
Well, that's cool. Yeah, was it really kpk?
Okay. PP was kpp 191.
My Scamp was creepy. Hey, 089 or close closely, and
all the other car I had checked at that stage, I own my MG Midget and when I bought that it was like I HC 0, 1 2, which is the mid-70s. Victorian plate for the car was
a 69 and they said, look, there's no.
Court of that. In any of these Victorian data
card system that card also, he said it's highly likely, it's but it wasn't an Australian car. So it's highly like it's come
from in, to stay and mid-70s. It's been re-registered here and
it was that sort of number until I got it.
So so they don't always doesn't always work.
But at least you get some sort of history on your car.
Yeah, cool. He I love a lot like especially
like, you know, picking up a car that that's that's again very, very old. And you know, when Nowhere and
camera. I shouldn't want to do that for
my scab. Now, see, you see without seeing
that originated from let me call.
You want to be careful though. Sometimes, it's sometimes you
find yourself. You don't want to find out.
I know certain person known to all of us who actually, finally got the details on his car and turns out.
It was yellow, not red, when it left the factory and, and coincidence. Coincidentally, somebody else
who I managed to track down the original details for a car, through the dealer Network that You work for one of the other networks and it was written originally, not yellow.
So, incidentally, so yeah. So sometimes you find out.
Sup, you don't actually really want to know, may be able to tell if the cars been painted a completely different color.
Well, good job because like the whole car is all you wouldn't, you wouldn't tell for like what random car we talking about here. Such a, when one starts with
that each one dollar and when stats with Ford no arari, perhaps, okay, not awkward at all.
I was going to say, getting back to get me back to the car.
That was stolen David. There was a there's a guy that I
think you guys were seen his car at a secure picnic and it was it was another in my two bottles or two tiny monster, whistles was white over black and he painted himself.
He'd see that? Yeah yeah.
Stolen the other, the Illinois, install from Glen Iris.
So if you say I see a panda first-gen, a mile to hit us up on the show because he's pretty devastated.
So it's dropping. Was it in locked garage?
I have nothing, would staying at someone's house and II, don't know, but it's an unusual that a steal because I mean unless you just wanted to Joyride maybe but it's sort of quite distinctive and icon. Nick and those things get
noticed. So it's sort of, you know, you
got a very good chance of that being seen by someone because it's not a common car. No, the best thing.
I haven't seen that one on Which social media.
The best thing is to actually put it out on social media if you browse and I'm friend who had who has a Honda City turbo, that was pitched. All right.
Absolutely, absolutely was found within two days.
Thankfully unharmed And but in the same thing, it's quite a distinctive car Peach. But you think, well, they
believe the really wanted one to had no idea what it was.
Yeah, it's not unusual. I think.
I, if you want parts of one, how much of the parts really worth?
If you try to hook the card or someone will, it's going to stand out like anything, you know, it's not not a great idea.
Steal, something boring goes Tooele territory or something.
Million of them, you'll never get found you ever get caught for my car trailer? You know that's very not script.
But anyway gentleman car thefts you know you are don't do it.
It's you stay in school don't be an asshole.
Anyway we that's one thing. I do not like car thieves but
definitely yes but moving on gentlemen to tonight's topic.
What do we think? Makes a cool car and-and-and
What are the criteria that makes certain cars.
Cool. For example, and I got thing
about this because when I was editing the show last life, for last week's episode, I was like, we talked about how cool.
Did you mean? It's like, it's just
unanimously. Cool.
It's the coolest, within the coolest new car on sale, it doesn't drive very well. It doesn't really, it's got no
power, but it looks so funky and cool.
And interesting that it sells bucket.
Loads. And it's, you know, it's loved
and everyone's like, well, Jimmy's are universally cool.
Whereas you know a 79 series was we're saying is nowhere near as cool as a as a chimney and the Jimmy's on the you'd like they start about what 30 K plus you know like they go up.
So yet that's a cool car in the grand scheme of things.
Now again cool cool cars are subjective to everybody like everybody will say oh that's cool.
That's not cool. And you know you might have a
bit of a bit of a punch on about it in terms of discussion but it's interesting that without like the certain cars that we would just need a mask or like the certain things on a colored, like get cars. Got that it's Sleet in Toms
cool. Like somebody was saying in the
chat. Pop-up headlights.
Instant Mexico, cool like like no no, no matter what.
It's just, it's just instantly, instantly.
Cool. So I wanna know what your
criteria is our guys and what will and free and give us a given to give us an example. So for example, you might say,
you know, Toyota Mark three super over a mic for super Mark, 3 is cooler because it's 80s. Even even the 80s was cool but
what makes everything a nice cool.
Pop-up headlights, the crazy Tech the you know, the The over-the-top engineering and etc, etc.
Hence, making it a cool car. So like for me, like benz's
vendors from the 80s is very cool because like there was just complete tanks and like that, and they look very of the, of their, of their time but like a new buns to me, just so uncool, because I just like, I have no interest in him at all, which is, which makes which hurts me to say but that's just, that's just how it is. So I'll go and I'll let you guys
go. What do you think?
Constitutes a cool car. What do you think makes a cool
car and what are some cool car examples and And how they relate to the statement. Mmm, it's a good question
because I think what makes something cool.
You don't have to think about, reliability, that's out the window. It's doesn't even have to be
practical that's out the window so it doesn't matter about any of that. It doesn't even really have to
drive well at all and it could still be cool.
So it like the Jimmy is like you know, it doesn't work and everybody drives that they kind of Don't drive that well because they say that they're a letter on frame chassis.
Car there, their main, they're meant to be an off-roading car, which is what they need to do. They got no power, but they just
cool, like, they just unanimously, cool.
So, Scotty explain that in Spain that in more detail.
So I guess so that's always like a frame of mind.
It's just the, it could scare come down to looks obviously.
And the problem with looks though is that it's so subjective. I'm people think it's cool.
Some people think? Yeah, it's not that cool.
But I feel when it comes to car people, people that are into cars, it's completely different. The way you look at what's cool
and what's not so compared to someone, that's not really into cars. So, I'll just say Things like,
you know, you're super cars. So they would just say Ferraris
it's a that's cool and Aston Martin's, that's cool.
But when it comes to Car Guys, you look at that little bit more deeper and tend to lean towards something that's unique or maybe something that's unique about that car.
And it can just be one little thing I guess, for example, for how you're talking about the 80s, the funky dashes and that that would come with it. That you would have and the way
it displayed everything. It's so retro and 80s.
Now that I don't care what the rest of the car.
Looks like, just an interior shot with the crazy-looking steering wheel and the way does the Reds and it's just an electronic dashboards. And so yeah, yeah.
When they would starting to bring those in it just looks so cool and you can pinpoint a cool car just from that.
It doesn't even have to be what it looks on the outside.
You can just Be something so simple like that was it you said what if I said to you interrupt me if I said to you Subaru Vortex which is exactly what you're describing, crazy, interior wedges and all sorts of crazy ask angles.
You'd be like, yep, that's that's definitely cool.
Yeah, 100% that's cool. It's something unique about it.
They've tried something completely different than what you would normally see and who cares if it didn't sell very many or, you know, Just lost so much money on it.
That's not the whole point of what makes a car.
Cool. Yeah, that's how I feel like a
lot of it comes to comes down to like a unique, just something unique about. It's got to be something there.
So you got your pop-up headlights, you got crazy electronic cash, you got crazy lines and everything, whether it's a little bit boxy or whatever, they've done, I mean, you've got Lamborghini Countach. As for example, everyone knows
that's that's a cool car. It's not practical, it's from
what I've heard and for many people, it's not a great thing to drive so it's miserable. It's takes so much oil so much
oil to do an oil change in it. There's nothing that great about
it until you look at a time it's got a rear wing that actually does nothing. It is they're just these adores
though. Exactly.
There you go. But see, that's why she's a
doors. That's so unique.
Does it make? Yeah.
It's cool. But see the thing is, I love the
80s because the 80s was just a ton of excess, right?
It was just it was a success. It was you know and companies
didn't care. Like they were they're willing
to willing to be bold. You don't get that anymore.
That's why I love cars. Mary's.
That's why. That's why for me the MR2 is
such a special car in in my heart that I've kind of always wanted and lusted after was because it was just such a weird. Looking, you know, wedge, the
Interiors wedgie. Everything is Everything was
designed with a ruler in that car.
Like there was it was, it was, it was just completely rule of designed which, and that's why everyone's like are, but the sw20 is the better car and I'm like, well, it might be in, probably probably is in a lot of ways.
But for me it's always been the the first gen because I was just so cool and retro and and like the any as it is, you're saying it a little early to study your companies were doing electronic dashes. And if there's a cousin later
That is all about its you automatically cool, like that companies tried in the 80s and that's why I think a lot of 80s cars are just like for me. So very cool.
Like the word Aggie, cool for a very long time and now they are genuinely really cool. Yeah, I think, yeah, there's a
couple of different streams like cars.
Just think about it and cars that personifying ehre, you know, in in future years become cool.
So, something that's chrome bumper and really 60s or 70s in a funky color of that time. You know that becomes cool
doesn't have to be an exotic car, you know, it could be like an eh Holden from 1960. Something is a cool car because
you don't see that sort of a shape anymore.
And it's got the Chrome bars and it's got a vinyl bench seat and you know, there are things about it that history shows you a because they're not around anymore, you know, that's now, cool because it's different to what we have now and the 70s cars were different. You know, they're a lot like
Datsuns with the all the gauges along the Today in this like 240 case and the zip cars that had the voltmeter in the oil pressure. And that, you know, you don't
get those sort of gauges now, you know, in pods like that.
Angled towards the driver. So it was very common back, then
the normal car, but hindsight makes that cool because it's something you can craft cockpit. Yeah, that's right.
You see that aircraft cockpit now in that way?
So there are cars that are more way out design-wise like the Countach. Zh that were always even in
their time were kind of like, whoa.
And that's really a looks thing or a performance thing.
But even mundane cars can become cool with age and I think we talked about it in a recent episode where an everyday car like might arago or a Tirana sedan or, you know, something that was just one of the meal, you know, just the fact that it's preserved, 30, 40 years later, and still on road, makes it cool because it's a survivor. That again it's different to
everything else that's around so I think it's about just being different you know I will and miss it Mitsubishi ASX in white base model will now be cool. I think of its design or you
know it won't because of its looks or anything or performance. But but in 40 years if it's one
of only a handful left a bit like Andrews, Magna wagon, you know, from the 80s then. It will be cool because they'll
be none of them left, you know. I know it sounds ridiculous but
that is sort of what will happen.
It could happen because a lot of the new cars now search throw away. Yeah.
Don't try and hold on to him. She just throw them away and
replace it with something else. So I feel like you know 40 years
time if you still got a great wall exactly.
I think it will really start talking about design features that are inherently in be cool. Like you said that pop up.
W is, he's, you know, always a bit of a cool thing, you know, no question. I think frameless doors or like
pillarless cars where? When the windows are down,
there's no Central pillar, you know, and you ought like Subarus. All of them is like yours Gotti.
I think, you know, you open or when the windows are down, you've just got a door, there's no traffic.
You know, that inherently is kind of cool because it's different to a normal door with a with a frame on it sunroofs, I think make a car Italy cooler, even even a plane car.
You give it a sunroof and decent Wheels.
Make a car call. You can have two cars identical
very playing but if one's got a really Kick-Ass wheels on it, you know, kulfi, it's good. As we always had the wheels
maketh, the car definitely do. They keep it was just a bit
further. 59 Cadillac Eldorado, as we thought, Pretty car.
I mean cool. Genre not much of a lot of
people and yet undeniably cool especially you see one in a metallic pink or something like oh yeah yeah credible and and that's the sort out to one because it had the highest pins.
I've all that digging the area era.
There was no bigger fan than that car.
That's right. 59 Eldorado. Yeah, what I was working on
that, on that jeep, right? And like you guys are probably
all good, here we go, but But like I stood back from it, like the cars means, like it's really clear.
It just got like, if you don't look at the Bonnet was a bond, it's just peeled. But the rest of the cars fine.
Like that's a cool looking box on Wheels.
Like it was, it was designed in the early 80s that car and went all the way to. Like I think Layton 9 like late
2001 or something. It, when we had a very long,
very long lifespan. And I'm like, it's a box on
Wheels and it kinda looks like a Barbie Barbie dreamhouse car from California, back in the 90s like that.
That's it. Yeah, that's exactly what that
car would be. And I'm like a Barbie Jeep.
I think you could do that. All you need to do is just paint
the car W. Put some put some gold wheels on
it and you got, you know, put some like, you know, put two broads with you. No bleach blond hair.
And you know, and then he lays down increasing, then the bait on like that is that is personifies.
What cool is like there's just a instantly instantly, a cool car.
So it can come in many forms of n, but like you were saying, yeah, it could be, it could be the Mitsubishi, ASX witch, witch witch. We know today is some miserable
miserable car, but the a little bit to be sheep you listening?
Yes, it's called the Pajero. That's right.
Thank you Mickey. But see, like you're doing good
things. We give you a ten years,
warranty Mitsubishi. But give us a good car.
But yeah, I just like yeah, it's just it's a hard thing to put you to what your to put your finger on because like, You walk into like, for example, when we got two cars, & coffee, right?
And and you know what we walking through?
You know, the thousands of cars that are there, you know, like they just everywhere like you know and they'll be things that you just walk past a guy walk past most M cars these days most AMG those be like, yeah, whatever.
Like IRS calls, I get that golf R's.
I don't even don't even bat an eye, but I see, you know, like a, for example, like that. The Magna.
Yeah, the teepee, Magna wagon and three.
Of us in this pocket. Just stood there and stared.
And was like, like, wow. Yeah, like it was, it was, you
know, super duper cool like things like that.
And, and your friends are Speedster, which is like a mock-up. But that, that looks sick
because it's just, like, it's got, its got flat black paint and it just looks. It looks really, really cool.
It gets he gets respect because I guess it's do.
You think calls because it's different, or do you think cool?
Because it's just, it's just generally inherently cool.
Like I mean, yeah, I think like Saying it's cool is because it's different to the norm, you know. I think you could that is a
statement and different to the norm could mean.
Be for many reasons, like the Jimny is different to the norm because of its cheeky retro styling.
You know, it's not a typical light SUV, like a Volkswagen T Cross or at Iraq or, you know, whatever else is in that segment, again, do venue or something, you know, the Jimny is a, you know, it's yeah, it's different.
The old cars are inherently different because there's not many around so whether it's an old survivor, whether it's an old car, that was way out, styling like that Cadillac eats different do you don't see it every day and that's why kids stop and point in the street. And, you know, that makes it
cool. In terms of new cars, I suppose
all you've got to go on is really some out there styling.
Or maybe a I mean, I'm there's not many features that I think is particularly cool because of all been done before, you know, like head-up displays been around for years and I mean, maybe something like an S-Class or what was it made back or something that had the style Starlight roof, liner, or whatever? We look out from the back seat,
looks like he's staring at the cosmos.
You know, that that that's a cool thing because it's different not not. Every car has that, you know,
Honda CRX. I think about that like Del Sol
CRX from the early 90s. You know, it was very different
styling. It was a Target.
Op that went in the boot, the electric Back window, you know, would come down, electrically, that was cool because it was very not the norm. Hmm.
My friends Navarra had an electric back window actually more recently and I thought, I didn't think the whole car was cool, but I thought that feature was cool.
Yeah. Defeat you don't get in every
youth. So it's sort of something, a
little bit different. Only 22 points to that Edward.
First point regarding the Jimny old styling cheeky.
Old-school styling We'll look at a 79 series.
That looks like it hasn't changed.
In hasn't changed in like 30 years, but then it's still not as generally, not as cool as a Germany.
Like maybe maybe not cover Jimmy's a bit more cutesy and comes in funky colors. But, but I think you could
argue. There's a lot of people that
still think of 79 series is very cool.
In the same way that a g vogon, brand-new is very cool to a lot of people. It's not so much to me but but
again it's different, you know, 79 series is like you can still buy a truck. From the 1980s, you know
brand-new today for a lot of money and and that makes it cool because it's so old school, you know, it's a new old car.
Basically I think the I think the gym just referring to the Jiminy comparing compared to the 70 series, The Jimmy's retro.
But it's also small and it's also quirky.
And I think the miniaturization yeah ramp things up a bit to you. Look at the mini when it first
came out in 59 and you know, as an example.
In a classless car. Like it people from all genres
and all and what why was it cool?
Because it was not like anything else that had come before it.
No one had done that before and in both sort of styling wise and size-wise, so it became it became cool because it was different, you know, if we just turned out white Camry sedans and nothing other than white Camry sedans, then it's very a very uncool world but you know, Use that reference for much longer, you realize, but a disappearing.
The Camrys it took Toyota Vista. Wow, that's quite a thing.
It's still exporting them though.
I'm pretty sure I better snap one up while there before they become familiar with, its kind of hybrid hybrid bed, you're probably would be three years. Well, I thought that that car,
you know, brand new Camry today, in 30, 40 years will be cool because they'll be none left and it'll be a rarity.
Yeah. So is that is that the
definition Of cool. Then are we leaning towards
that? It's cool.
Because you don't really see them.
Is that the only reason now. So for example, as Matt was
saying, no, he walked past whole bunch of Volkswagen golf's and M cars and aim juice. Because you see so many of them
around now. So is cool.
What you don't see around anymore?
I think it can be partly what you don't see around anymore and partly design-related. Yeah.
Yeah, it's interesting that G-Wagon you reference it because I think the original ones that came about with a 80s.
Yeah. I think early 80s.
I think so. I mean, maybe even 70 early.
I think the other thing that 70s and I mean tons seats, you know, we'd like yeah to sell seats. But, yeah, I mean, that's cool
to me, whereas the G-Wagon that you can buy, these aren't so, it's a rarity Factor, but it's also that you survived effector to. Yeah, correct.
I yeah, I would agree with you there.
Like, I think you're saying to me, once David, like your friend's got a G wagon and a, an engine is exactly.
And then they they kind of did a bit of stuff on the on the Germany and it looks better than G-Wagon.
And yeah, absolutely, they be a painted basically painted the wheel arches and the grill color matched it.
To the metallic gray of the Jimny, but even the little pick up on the roof line is identical to the to the G wagon so it it just at the tailgate top the tail.
Okay they're cool. Makes it cool it makes it.
I think sometimes also it also makes it like for example classes like you were saying like if a person I can afford a four hundred thousand dollar G, wagon is buying a you know, thirty thousand dollar Jimmy in the same in the same in the same Fleet, I guess that's kind of You know, says a lot about a little bit of Germany where and but to reiterate your point about, you know, seeing a lot of them, I see Jim.
He's like probably three or four everyday, I could, you know, they're everywhere like, but they do matter what?
No, matter how things are selling like 10, it's called the Jiminy, but yeah, that's right. That's right.
Design design is inherently. It's funny.
As far as school goes to. Sometimes, I think placement it
will all environment can can make a difference.
You can see a car in a Particular sort of environment think wow that's that's that's really cool like it.
You see Citroën 2cv anywhere and instantly you think France and you know, smoking gauloises cigarettes and eating croissants and all that sort of stuff Fiat, 500 is the same, you know, roll back the sunroof in your driving around the Colosseum and all that sort of thing even discoveries.
When it when I've been in, been in the UK, I look at discoveries thing, I think is so cool. You know, I think exactly what
you need, you know. They look great on the road,
over there, the little lanes, and all that sort of thing, and they obviously a pretty capable when they're running sweetly when they're not so capable. Well, then I think, Australia
and look around and go to this workshops and yeah, I don't want one here so I think they call over there, but I don't necessarily think they're cool the year.
So there is a car will not economy as a Unimog.
Me with me when I leave like I walk past them with Thomas every day and it's like, it's in full camo.
And I'm like, okay, you mugs at Uni want to just cool, right?
Because like they just stupid but like that that makes the make some kind of cool because they just ridiculously huge and and and and they shouldn't exist.
But the fact that they do it that the fact that they do is just is just even better. But getting back to your point
like what I was gonna say my second Point earlier in terms of liking a features and things that make it make a cart cool.
Like for me, There's only a few cool, cos PSI Island and a couple of I'm saying this but I think one of the coolest cars with Sally's the VW r t on because not the whole body, it's like a clamshell. Kind of like the whole thing
opens up like a half claim. Her clam shell.
It's got pillows windows. It's a sedan.
What did I say? Yep, it's got.
Its got like a analog clock in the middle of the dashboard.
It's it's got little touches that make up.
Like that's actually kind of a cool car while I getting you.
See you see a few on the road and you don't see many But I do like that, it's an ALT t on like, you know, like you I wouldn't bat an eye at Volkswagen normally but, you know, after seeing them I'm like, yeah, I actually quite like them. I mean, I would have been fine
all in on touches but it's a design touches that, that amazing. Yeah, that's a cool car like and
there's not many new cool cars, you know, I love, I love Kiss Tears because I think the I think the the misgave me because I'm a designer but the typeface of stinger looks epic.
I'm like I like how they don't have any layer at the steamer and I'm like that like that, that for me is like where every summer Like that's a cool looking at cool-looking Belgian and I do respect it. It's cool because it's it
shouldn't be made today in a sea of SUVs.
Like I do it's a losing proposition but you know that it's still it's still got made. So I think there's a factor as
well like it's made in like it's like it's like a year as gr like that car had no reason to be made besides to go rolling.
It's a genuine homologation car every time I see on I'm like yep that person knows what he's got or she's got all their got you know that it's it's a car that they've said you know what, I don't want to be I don't have I drive an SUV.
I want to drive a buddy road-going.
Rally car. That's very capable.
Here's my 50 Grand. I'm going to go behind.
What if you know. So it's it's interesting that
that yeah they you see, you see kind of the new cut like some new cards can be cool, but I think color plays it part of it too, you know, and that ties into design.
I suppose in a way but you can have a very plain-looking example of something or a funky color of its ear.
Of something and it's it's cooler.
There are certain colors that really landed onto certain cars and we've talked about that before but yeah, I don't know the hero color that's always sometimes a bit outlandish is is often cooler than a plain silver or white or something, but depends on the car and the brand-new.
We mentioned this before to from a sales point of view.
You know, people will often go with the safe.
Yeah. They love the thought of going
with the hero cover. Yeah.
But they won't. Because they start ReSound.
I say I might have said it here before, but you know, people are scared of color on their clothing on their cars and in their homes. So, I mean, how many houses do
you walk in these days that have got a color anywhere in the walls? It's all bloody white and beige
because we're all too scared. Whereas in the 70s, although
they weren't scared at all, you know, like you had green kitchens, you had pink bathroom, Jay psychedelic wallpaper and and the cars reflected that there were Autumnal ochres and yellows and Browns and lime greens.
And there was some fantastic you know, colors to come out of that era which weren't cool ten years after they were new but 20 years up on you. Oh yeah now it's good.
Yeah comes back, doesn't it? That's it.
So I think I think color plays A Part.
Well it's interesting when I went to the dealership to order the fiesta the whole car ride their step was like, are you sure you want to do green? Are you sure you want to do
great? Because it's like, you know, you
sure you haven't thought about the Either the silver or the black or you know, I'm like I'm like that.
I'm getting green, liked it. See you know, added I got to got
to do in the ordering stage and I'm like I'll get a mean green and the guys are guests like the dealer was like yes agropoli.
Someone's ordering a cool color and I could just see stuff like this anyway. Deliver your message was at work
is like, kids want to confirm the color before the car gets made is getting married next week.
Just want to make sure and in steps like your last chance to back it up. I don't know why she's
questioning you on that. I think it's fantastic.
It doesn't. But here's the thing, it would
when we saw the car she's like you made the right choice.
She's like it looks epic and green like a and I didn't like when we went on the drive day Edward there was all these blues and whites and then and The college that was the green line because it was just it looked so different you know it was.
Yeah I'm glad I went with the green, you know I like a color definitely like a color. I put a few plain white cars but
only a few you know, is something that it's nice to have a color and I didn't buy any of the new so I didn't get to choose besides besides color. Okay.
What are some factors like we can end on before we before we move on to cryptic. Ours what are some factors it in
Steam like a cocktail. So some of the things that we're
Owing to type of we'll just we'll just talk about.
So color is one. A is you guys have said like if
it gets to a certain point I guess like you don't see you don't see 40 year old magnedragon's anymore so that makes it very edgy. Yep.
Yeah. Funkiness I guess I guess that's
why the the gym he's the coolest car on sale because the styling styling, I leave. So styling, definitely, what
were some of the other things that we mentioned could we bring in nostalgia? Yeah, I think so.
Yeah, I think that might play a larger part, you know, companies. No.
Nostalgia to us is huge, bringing back our youth or just remembering what things were like, intended to Nintendo's new meaning. Yep.
Yep. Bringing it all back in one at
they're all doing and I think that plays a massive part to evolve run out of ideas Scott. It's no different than like
movies really, is it? Let's remake a degree making me,
right? Yeah, I thought hundreds are
cracking looking little car already on it.
It all out of all of the, all of the little cars that will all work out of the mini and the beat, I think, you know, like the while the meaning, the bill did very good.
And then they look great. I think the one that now.
Absolutely. 100%. Now that was.
That was the fear. Like, I think it looks it.
I see them on like it's such a cute guy.
How can I not like it? Oh yeah.
It's a figure but the the the fact is, it's now land and they sell. They sell quite well because you
know, they've got that nostalgic vac and a lot of people that have got original 500's like your friend.
You I have the new one to you and it's just like, it's a Nostalgia Factor. So I think that's definitely got
something to do with it. Yeah, you just bought on this
body and then when a bath guess they're hanging their hands on it or there's a yellow and down there down the street with my parents. And I'm just like came at
school, like it's such a cool. It's an angry-looking car.
It's like I'm angry for being such a small so small.
I'm angry, you know, it was actually a better version of Ferrari. It's just waiting for.
I actually told them, it's a gummies on the Ferrari authorship Ferrari showroom showroom that like, Ferraris and I will have one of those two. They're so cute.
Come Along, come on. But there was a variety version
of it to ya. My neighbor's got 10.
Really well, thank you. It's like the measure ready.
Homage Fiat 500. Yeah, they did not like a
metallic burgundy. That's it.
That's the one. Yeah, but that's 500 isn't it?
It's just like a million. This is another Audi Edition or
something. That's right.
That's right. The clever thing they do and I
mean that model is now run for gosh.
What is it? Will be these or something mates
at least. Yeah but they keep you keep it
there. Limited editions coming.
There have been so many different culture, be tradition, the diesel addition that something of the other ones but there is they're all changing the names and quite long.
But yeah, they're dead the badges across the back or down the side and they come in with funky color combinations and the light colored steering wheels to match the light colored trim and stuff. So it's really, it's very well
done. I got a feature for you that
what's up one? It's multiple features that I
think are cool things that are sort of motorized or Can Happen by the push of a button that aren't normally.
So like you know you get in a car like like my old benzes and you push the button on the dash and pneumatically.
The rear headrests flip back, that's cool because it's it's been since the 80s. You know, the seat belt that
feeds its arm out to you. In my coop is cool because it's
not so common, there's certainly wasn't back then and some cars have been now but it's not common.
You know, most cars don't have that on the Old Christine Leader, you know whatever MX, whatever.
Yeah, the panel on the dash for the climate that you push and it, you know, it electronically goes in and reveals more buttons, you know, to customize a climate or whatever.
That's cool. Anything anything like that?
That's not common like the tour goes that had the, you know, the fridge in the back, you know, the cooler.
Not most guys don't have that, you know, that spoon.
So those those electronic Out of features that we're sort of just trying just going on a bit of a wind, you know, finding something finding something a bit different.
I think in retrospect those things like whoo cool.
I can, you know, you only when you push a button like on my S-Class I had you'd push a button and the the button, the other row of buttons would move down and it revealed the tape player behind the bumper and you don't expect it because it's like having a hidden door in your house, in the library on.
Yeah. You just push a book, you know,
on a door opens. It's a secret.
Well, it was like that in the S-Class for the tape.
Cool. Sounds like that.
Say 43 AMG had the sports seats and you flipped a little switch and the bolsters would actually go and squeeze in on.
Yes, please. A lot to, like, in a first-gen,
aw Levin. I would put my money where my
mouth is and I would potentially buy something like that.
Arcana color in a absolutely in a color I would I would definitely do that because that would just be, you know, you could have the matching pair like it David, you got the money, right? And she put it, I think that you
have to have the matching pair. But yeah, like it's, I think
everything that we've just discussed makes makes a car call. And my every cars go there.
Cool features like you were saying it would but I think I think As a whole, if there's one big factor that we think that makes it the most cool, I think it's going to be styling.
Like, I don't have all the factors that were discussed tonight. It's the styling of a car.
That means that that's probably the biggest factor to make me cool. Like I said, I, I want to not
like the new Fiat 500. I want to know like, because I
know mechanically, they're not great, but I can't.
I love them because they're just so cute.
They look, you know, and they, and they look really cool and and, you know, and there's an Abarth version of looks angry and You know, it's, it's hard to like, and I guess that makes it a cool car. That's why these thing young
stomach will probably never be on this list.
No, no. What if there's a stomach it
like 15 or 20 years? That's like mint and and rocks
up the Cars and Coffee. I'll be like, you know what?
That's quite a cool. My friend is a trailer like a
wholesaler so he buys and sells wholesale and he said something about the static one day and I said, you can't be serious.
Yes, and he said he's made money on everyone that he's ever bought and sold you serious, like bought from somewhere cheap be sold at wholesale. He's made money on every step
back. And I'm like, I really have no
words that follow me. Yeah, people like a stabbing.
Okay, well, I think this time, it's cool.
Scotty's cryptic cars now. But we'll do the concrete.
It's like Scotty already got the notepad up early to go.
The floor is yours whenever you're in.
Alrighty, so welcome back to cryptic cars, I have got some movies thrown in there as well. And a whole bunch of different
cars. We're going to start off very,
very easy. So make sure you are ready to
go. Question 1 orientation.
It'll slide is my favorite. Its cryptic its words that
relate to the to the car or the movie, but they're not the same.
What are you going to kind of guess?
Which card is? Well, maybe it is.
Yeah, I pretty much. Yeah.
Let's go D. Floors, you let's kick it off
question. 1 Volkswagen insect. I heard head first, I was first.
That is the Volkswagen Beetle. Yes, there we go.
Nice and simple. One to start things off.
She's doubt that was tight. I think, I think I had, I think,
I had David. But anyway, so, I heard me.
Yeah. But you did.
That's the problem with the intern defends connection.
I've had times where I've beaten swear.
I've been all of you and I'm not good with the accolades of escaped, you Scotty, that's how I don't get an npn and everything hooked up. So I'm going to have really low
ping, and I'll be hammer and I'll do whatever it takes to win. Very competitive.
All right. Question to remember, if I've
done this one, but I thought, why not?
We'll do it again. It's going to be two words that
you need to put together. So it's a Ford Rumble foul as in
fo WL, Matthew, Matthew. It's a Ford Thunderbird.
Yeah Thunderbird, nice and warm. That's one.
This moves into our first movie. Well, in the title, it's, you'll
figure out the car. So I'm really a car movie, but I
wonder if you watched it and if you remember Oracle slide down that one, I'll have to bring it back.
Bring it back in one of them. Question 3, bro.
Where for art thou my automate that was a funny film.
That was such a peculiar but awesome Velma and I would watch that for a long time may be young like that.
Movie question. Number four, gee DMC, Hurricane,
David Matthew, David James, C typhoon.
Yeah. Well.it is he talking now we are
going back in time for question 5.
Question 5 and Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Best David David? Oh Atlas Supreme yes Supreme
master and Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme in La when where how many many moons ago. What was it?
That was, it always the 442 like, four barrel for you for exhausting? Like it was, no, no, I can't
remember this black with red interior and we had a U-Haul box on the top because there's no luggage room in the middle.
There were four of us. Well, do we, it's you whole part
on the roof. Yeah, the luggage in sure.
Sure. Yeah.
Supreme ugly Grill. It was probably the precursor of
the IU waterfall. Grille actually?
Yeah, I got it from Scotty. Would you like a scotch Check,
yeah. Halfway school check please.
I always will check David and it on to a piece myself on one, I should have been on, you know. But anyway, I'm not going to go
over the Internet. We're gonna go to get the nbn's
if unions, are all these, your problem because my dad had a fight with the with up this. So so so now we don't have the
internet via 4G or 5G 4G Carly Wow.
Number six on. If you get this one's a little
bit different because it's not just the model itself.
I'm going to tell you the model but obviously it had a make as well to go with it. So the Holden Commodore finale,
All the Holden Commodore termination.
David what that means? The end.
David David. David, David, David, David
really Holden Commodore Amiga. Oh yes!
Got it. Well okay.
Is it so that means it's a mega and it's the last letter and the predictive, wasn't it? Yeah.
Done it evoked its way out of here.
Let's see what I thought. I'm gonna stomp you on that one.
Well done too. Clever.
Question number 7, this is a movie.
All right, here to be pretty quick.
I got my ears switched on. I got the volume turned up.
Movie title. Is crazy Maximus.
Crickets crazy maximum weight crazy mix with us.
David. So I said a big steel with that.
It's wrong way around it. Create a hint that I have there
was originally two movies and then I'm pretty sure there's another to now Maximus. Please know.
I'm getting bumped them. What's another word for crazy
crazy doing? Mad.
Matthew Matthew will you in there door, dude?
You're going to go because Mad Max.
That's what I was going to say. Oh no, we you get it, man.
You taken murder. So you said mad and I was always
just. That's all right, so you can
have it. It's fine.
No many, I insist Next one question 8.
This one is a little bit different.
Okay it is a fact fact I've got the name of a car.
And then the fact it will make sense when I say it.
Okay, bam beem biggest cat in the world, David tiger, that was me, I got in prayer, so go check myself, 1.5 Edward on 2.5 and
currently leading on for is David.
It's still anyone's game. Anyone's game.
They had a V-8 engine, the Tiger.
Actually, no, it wasn't a little.
It was a little leash little beer.
I think they had a 260 first, which was the real baby Ford.
Yeah. I think I think they went to a
289 later on, but yeah. Okay, he's ready for some
obscure car brands that you don't really hear about.
This is my forte. Let's go.
The human devil. Did Matthew Ed Billman Minx.
Oh, not the Minx not to me. Well, I agree with you Matthew a
hunter. Nope.
Dave about the human human hobgoblin.
This is a different kind of the same car.
Just different David go, David go, David go, go, go.
Yes, it makes is a bit naughty. Don't like the devil is, isn't
it? I like that.
Okay, final one. Question.
Number 10, the Studebaker Tyra. Aunt, or the Studebaker
totalitarian. Oh, Ed Ed.
Is there such thing as a Studebaker dictator?
Yeah. I'm just thinking like Hulk
Octavia it or not. I tell you.
I'm trying. All these nice was one.
I'm thinking none of them mean. Well yeah I was going to say the
Studebaker Hitler but I thought choice of other words first.
It is such an awesome car name, though, they look for the ball to be like the saying young, chairman w124, God's w124 guts.
Thank you. All right, schools like a score,
check it. Scotty, oh yeah, let's see.
Who won. Tonight's loser, is me on 1.5,
it would be internet. It would s you have my by many
internet every second on 3.5 and tonight's winner on a grand
total of sync or five. Is that David Prince?
Well done. Oh, thank you very much.
You've you've extended the old brain for me.
Scotty cause I remember the first one of these did.
I don't think I scored one. I just good night.
I mean, the one that I thought everyone was gone.
You got straight away. All of the sources a compendium.
Hey Chef a compact of information, very good.
Yeah, yeah that was good, thank you.
Well, don't worry about that one.
Scott, you are more than welcome.
Scott will continue with you as we go into our school.
Golf tips for Scott Bobb, tips. And Scott are ads.
Don't you hate it when you hitting that golf ball?
And you hit it into the bunker to shuttle when they're very high, in your right near the green?
You're like how do I get out of this without getting stuck in the bunker or then hitting it? A mile over the green into the
next tieria. Go do this.
Is the question we want to answer is to tell us.
Hmm, stuff. Well what I do and I would say
I'm not the best so it doesn't work every single time but I would say close to is spread those legs.
Get that wide stance happening forward.
So you want to lean a little bit, you know, forward towards where you're hitting it and open that clubface.
So instead of holding it tilt, it gets that nice and open and you. Want to hit just before the ball
so you open up more. So you get that more height, the
higher it goes, when it falls down, it's not going to keep rolling. So you want to get that swing
right? Hit it just before the ball and
you should get nice underneath it with that open Club face and get it up nice and high and pop it onto the green.
Yeah most of the time for men we do we talk a lot of power which the chip not just a real casual swing.
Don't try and do much power just You know, whether the distance you might even just do, maybe just a half a swing.
And just just casual, keep it simple, and you'll get a lot of air on it and you get back spin on stuff too.
So it'll stop it from you accidentally topping it, or hitting it and then it going a mile because that's used always happen to me. But yeah, just that wide stance
lean towards where you wanting to hit it and open that clubface. You heard it here first, guys,
that is a great town. Ow Edwards.
Quick question. Yes, I'd like to give a footy
tip. Did you know, the footballs come
in different sizes? Yes, I didn't know this.
What is the game size for a official, football for Victorian rules? Is it seven?
It's 55. Okay.
Nice 5 is the size you want. If you want to be like the big
boys and have the correct football?
Yep, you heard it. If I go there's my tip.
Yes, David David. Why?
I think that the other sizes are like if you're smaller smaller person or you're practicing like a child's, you know, play football sort of thing, I think. So can either three or they
serve? No.
I think there's a 3 and a 4 and you know ask your boss will do different size of the other. I'm very uneducated in this.
So don't question me any further, but thank you very much. Did they go size 5?
You know it, you know, it's match ready.
