We are a relatively new team and learning right along with you. Our assumption is that you know very little to nothing about the sport but are interested in learning to drive better and eventually maybe even race in a local event of interest. We will cover all forms of racing and hope to be entertaining as well as educational.

GHIT 0368: Team Status Update After having a few inquiries at the track and via social media, we begin to review what we are up to and working on as a team and some of the projects and issue we are working on. This episode is a partial laundry list of some of the more significant near term items we are working on or pondering, as well as a few of our goals going into the approaching offseason. GHIT 0363 Race Review of Thompson 2022 with the 24 Hours of Lemons We entered three cars into this year's 24 Hours of lemons race with the Honda Civic/Cookie Car still limping after our GridLife event, the El Jeffe/Bad Hombre/Trophy Truck/Chevy S10/Isuzu Hombre etc. prepped and ready for battle, and the MooStang/SpiderStang/1984 Mustang GT Turbo locked and loaded, almost. This weekend was another hot and humid August race at the Thompson Motor Speedway, and we had a true Good, Bad, and the Ugly weekend. We had another great weekend with all our friends at the track and we met a whole bunch more. We cannot wait to get back on track again. GHIT 0359 GridLife's NJMP 2022 Event with E1R's Chris and Chrissy We were finally able to go to our first GridLife event this year at NJMP and to make it even better we were there with our friends from the Everyone Racers podcast Chris and Chrissy. Since we were all together, we decided to do a podcast mashup. We were split up among the intermediate and advanced HPDE groups for this weekend. Chris was looking to test and tune their latest K swapped 1993 Honda Civic. Chrissy wanted to gain overall speed and confidence. Jennifer was there to get a bit more time and comfort driving our front wheel drive Civic. Vicki was going to drive our 2019 Mazda Miata on track for the first time and Bill was looking to help anyone he could at this event. GHIT 0355: Cameron Conover from Conover Motorsports Cameron Conover has been working in motorsports for two decades and Conover Motorsports offers sales and service support of the entire RaceCapture portfolio, as well as mechanical support for your vehicle. We worked with Cameron on our two RaceCapture installations and as always, if we can do it, anyone can. With the recent upgrade in the connectors, it is even easier to install and connect a system and any sensors that you may wish to install into your race car. Some of the capabilities that RaceCapture offers are real time telemetry in both the car and the paddock, as well as the ability to add several options available including real time tire temperature monitoring (up to 16 channels per tire), shift lights, pressure and temperature of any fluid or system, and the ability to message to and from the car when on track. In spite of some of our stumbling explanations (difficult in an audio only environment), the system offers a tremendous amount of capability and is simple to install and use. This time, it was after three straight race weekends in multiple states that Bill entered a zombie state. GHIT 0352: Our Track Day at the NY Safety Track When we were invited to a new track for an HPDE we did what we always say to do – "say yes" and thank you. Our drivers for the event were Vicki, Alan, and Jen. Bill was there primarily to help instruct and to start breaking in our new race car. Even better, Kyle Lockrow said he wanted to come over and help out in any way. Finally, someone to instruct Vicki, lol. In addition, Bill drove in the Cressida at the last race in NJMP where it finished 6th overall in spite of Bill driving. We started out knowing nothing and that was probably being kind. At this year's event, we entered our 1993 Honda Civic with its full theme to thank the Everyone Racers podcast for all their help getting us started and helping us ever since. Vicki and Jennifer raced with two of the hosts from the Shifting Points podcast at this event. Audra had raced once with us last year and this was Jess's first ever wheel to wheel racing event. DwD 0348: Coasting On Track - Allowed or Not One of the often quoted things that may have first come from Ross Bentley's "Speed Secrets" book series is that you should never be coasting on track, but should either be on the gas pedal/throttle or on the brake. Ross has been on the podcast several times and we have discussed this aspect of racing with him a few times both on the podcast and at the track. We decided to get into it today and with Ben discuss whether there are any scenarios where "coasting" is acceptable or even allow for improved lap times. GHIT 0347: Jeremy Hall from Monkey House Racing Over the past few years, we had met Jeremy at many events, but it was more in passing. Jeremy usually races with his team called Monkey House Racing, but for the Pittsburgh event he was racing with the Skunk Oil Racing team and our team in a 1999 BMW 3 series, an E36 for all the cool dudes. Unfortunately, the event did not go well with two incidents, one Saturday and another Sunday, both at turn 2 of PittRace. Jeremy was driving for the second event and the car may not be repairable. DwD 346: Track Selection: The Impact on Learning On this episode of Dominating with Dawson, we wanted to discuss an aspect of racing education that can often be overlooked. The typical decision path to getting a racing license or going to an HPDE event or a track day is to find the closest track to you that has an event that fits within your schedule. This is likely to be what you do as well. However, one factor that is neglected in this methodology is the impact that the track design and layout can have on your learning and progression as a driver. There are many tracks that have very little run off room or walls, trees, rocks, etc. that are very close to the track and can make a small off track event a potentially very large cost event. It can also affect the comfortability of the driver towards pushing the car and their personal driving limits during the event. We talk about a few examples of tracks that are very forgiving and a few that we have been to that have layouts that are not quite as friendly. This is not to say that it is the tracks "fault" because in the end the responsibility always remains within the driver's seat and it is their responsibility to maintain control of the car and determine when/if they are going to push towards the limit. We love every single track but wanted to point out something that should be taken into account, especially as you are in your middle stages of learning and progressing as a driver.
