00:03
the bring a trailer
00:05
podcast all right Anthony we are here in
00:08
Germany together back in Europe after a
00:11
while we've been here to a few different
00:12
countries to a few different car events
00:15
together uh I'm Randy nberg the
00:17
co-founder of bring a trailer and you
00:19
are Anthony Sarah founder of 1600 below
00:22
Che and we have a great partnership
00:24
going already on Mini cars on bring a
00:27
trailer most of them us Focus but I've
00:30
also dabbled in some International sales
00:32
but now it's time when the international
00:34
approach is really going to step up we
00:36
have a lot of demand in Europe we're
00:38
really excited for that we have already
00:40
announced one local partner in Europe
00:41
and we're excited to announce you now as
00:43
our next local partner in Europe based
00:46
out of Germany isn't that right yes
00:48
that's something that started last year
00:50
on our uh trip to uh Italy and this was
00:53
an idea that has been brewing my whole
00:56
life you spent a lot of time in Europe I
00:59
spent a lot of time Inman you spent a
01:00
lot of time in Italy and some other
01:01
areas of Europe we've shared some fun
01:03
stories and some history for that which
01:05
we can also do here today but we're also
01:07
sitting among some amazing cars here
01:09
today we don't we're not just sitting at
01:10
a coffee shop in Germany we're at an
01:12
amazing collection and there's already
01:13
sort of a pipeline of interest and
01:15
demand for your 1600 booce services in
01:19
Europe and that's going to sort of start
01:22
things out and get that Flywheel
01:23
spinning and we're excited that you can
01:25
offer in particular your style of
01:28
listing on bring a trailer which which
01:30
obviously is proven and successful over
01:31
how many listings have you had on bat
01:33
now uh we're approaching 1,700 listings
01:37
by the end of the summer this year
01:39
unbelievable so that sort of experience
01:41
is why having you over here to do it in
01:44
that proven professional way I think is
01:46
going to be very interesting we are
01:48
interested in European partners and
01:49
we're interested in European direct
01:50
Sellers and all of that but having your
01:53
sort of expertise on the ground here in
01:54
Germany is really special so tell us all
01:58
about how you're going to support that
02:00
you're going to have a spot here and
02:02
start with a team here and some people
02:04
here and some expertise how is that
02:05
going to support the market here in
02:06
Europe we've been sort of in a beta test
02:09
mode the last six months uh testing
02:13
processes uh paperwork shipping of cars
02:17
uh acquisition inspection of cars and
02:20
formulating a good process and building
02:23
a team to bring the level of
02:26
transparency that we were able to do in
02:27
the US I've had lots of clients we've
02:31
sold cars to in the US that we've bought
02:34
in Europe and I get lots of emails and
02:37
even I see discussions for their cars
02:39
that are listed on R Trail now like how
02:41
do I get this car here so daunting to
02:44
think about I'm clicking and buying this
02:46
car and how do I do shipping how much
02:48
does it cost right this country doesn't
02:50
have a title what's going on there's a
02:52
lot of variant it's not necessarily
02:54
uncertainty there's some uncertainty but
02:55
there's just so many different countries
02:57
and methods and papers and styles it's
02:59
complex isn't it it is and I'm going to
03:02
be here to make the customer feel super
03:06
comfortable and take that part and set
03:09
it aside we're going to make that the
03:11
easy click button because what we want
03:15
also is especially a US buyer to have
03:18
the ability to buy a special car in
03:20
Europe that is not available in the US
03:23
doesn't have to be a a very expensive
03:25
car right we we walked through some cars
03:26
this morning right it's could be
03:28
something that's 10,000
03:30
and a million dollars yeah and or a 16
03:34
valve Cosworth 190e Mercedes right and
03:37
they the standard ones are not that
03:38
expensive but in Europe they had
03:40
different colors yes they had different
03:41
options they had a different
03:43
displacement on the engine that's just
03:44
one example of why I love shopping
03:47
european-based cars because they're
03:49
different yeah and you know going back
03:52
to my Early Childhood uh being around
03:55
European cars my whole life uh the gry
03:58
market era was something that super
04:00
special in the 80s and I feel like this
04:02
is kind of bringing it back full circle
04:04
and then there was a point even in the
04:06
US where like owning a gray market car
04:08
was almost like taboo right like a US
04:10
car is better for some reasons well we
04:13
all know that like the Euro Cars cool
04:15
lights slim bumpers colors even variants
04:19
that are not available you know whether
04:21
it's a Porsche BMW Mercedes there's so
04:24
many interesting cars and I feel like
04:28
there's lots of cars here to be Earth of
04:30
that you see almost now since uh covid
04:33
times the same car is getting traded
04:35
around are coming around almost 5 years
04:37
now right and we start to see the same
04:40
cars that sold maybe two years ago and
04:42
three years ago so I feel like there's
04:44
all these cars in the European Union
04:47
that are like totally they're ghosts
04:50
nobody's seen them before they're coming
04:51
yeah they're coming out of the Woodworth
04:52
so that sort of fresh inventory is
04:54
exciting let me tell folks uh who may be
04:56
wondering where we're located we're
04:58
located right in the middle of Germany
05:00
which is very strategic in the town of
05:03
gingan uh which is basically halfway
05:05
between Frankfurt and hurg obviously
05:07
there's pretty good infrastructure
05:09
around here in terms of getting cars to
05:11
Ports getting cars to other countries uh
05:13
we don't want to overlook the fact that
05:15
listing cars here at least half of the
05:18
cars bring tril is listed in Europe stay
05:19
in Europe so there's also a reason to do
05:22
this not for exporting Vehicles out of
05:24
Europe but actually listing these cars
05:26
in a new transparent credible
05:30
and cost effective way to sell them to
05:32
buyers within Germany within Europe yeah
05:34
so that's that's our main goal and
05:37
everybody would kind of look at you know
05:38
my business model it's like well we're
05:40
trying to just sell cars in the US no we
05:42
want to bring what we've developed in
05:44
the US into the European markets is
05:47
there's a lot of private sellers that
05:49
feel like they have only one Avenue to
05:52
take their car right is Either Leave It
05:54
On consignment with a dealer or or bring
05:57
it to uh you know big auction houses but
05:59
but there's other options that just
06:01
haven't been available and with the
06:03
tools we've developed we'll be able to
06:06
help clients get their cars out there
06:09
and our experience will give the person
06:11
selling a car the best shot of getting a
06:14
proper sale both sides buyer and seller
06:17
and feel comfortable tying it all
06:19
together now whether it's the cars are
06:21
coming to the US or they're going at all
06:23
points of Europe so I'm very excited my
06:26
team is very excited we have about 15
06:29
cars we going to launch shortly that we
06:31
we were working on uh in late fall and
06:34
we have other cars that will be offering
06:36
after and also it's not just the
06:40
vehicles right there's memorability in
06:42
history here even as us buyers and as so
06:45
much you know signs memorability engines
06:49
other things that are cor related and uh
06:51
obviously you know Randy you know you
06:53
you know I've talked a lot it's not
06:55
about just selling cars that's not what
06:58
you know my goal is every day is so I'm
07:00
Community Based and I feel like there's
07:02
this whole community that I can be also
07:05
involved in helping and with bring a
07:07
trailer we're going to bring this whole
07:09
new thing that that they haven't seen
07:11
before yeah it's it's certainly a new
07:12
approach and a different approach you
07:14
and I when we're in Europe we love the
07:16
cars we love the people we love the
07:17
roads we love the events but most of the
07:19
ways the cars transact just feel very
07:23
different than the way BH has been able
07:24
to elevate it in in America I know we
07:28
have and you have both had had so many
07:30
inbound inquiries of people saying Hey I
07:32
want to sell on b or oh I know B when
07:34
are you coming or things like that so
07:35
it's very exciting for me personally but
07:37
to also do this in conjunction with you
07:40
and your team to kind of do it together
07:41
and say well there is an answer take a
07:43
look at this right and look at these new
07:45
features on the website that are
07:46
optimized for international transactions
07:49
and look at these new resources and and
07:52
how you can use the website and the app
07:54
soon in Europe and get to do you know
07:56
what we're doing in the US that has
07:57
changed the culture and Marketplace in
08:00
the US are significantly partially
08:01
because to your team and others like you
08:03
and then in combination with the bat out
08:05
so getting to do that here is going to
08:07
be pretty spectacular and then tell me a
08:10
little bit I I told people where we are
08:11
in Germany kind of right in the middle
08:12
but you tell me how how you kind of
08:15
could have gone maybe anywhere you kind
08:17
of zered in on Italy because of your
08:19
time and Heritage there but also Germany
08:22
but tell me how you kind of landed here
08:25
well I felt uh Germany was a great place
08:27
to start for the spart program I feel
08:30
like the proximity to Ports and
08:33
proximity to Austria and we have a
08:35
partner now in the Netherlands right
08:37
that's already well established and I
08:40
feel like being part of it we can tie in
08:42
and really make that customer experience
08:46
the best possible situation there's
08:47
great cars in Germany yeah I was waiting
08:49
for you to say that I was writing if you
08:51
if you put a pin in the map where we are
08:53
right now and draw like a 4our circle
08:56
around us it's like it's unbelievable I
08:59
got got yearing 3 and 1 half hours on a
09:01
train from Munich yesterday which is in
09:03
the deep southern part of Germany and
09:05
Bavaria and then I mean you can get to
09:08
all sorts of reaches and Industrial
09:10
nature and the industrial success I'd
09:13
call it over the years commercial
09:14
success of this region of Germany there
09:16
are a lot of people that like cars that
09:18
have big businesses that own cool cars
09:21
there's a lot of car restoration type
09:24
operations there's a lot of
09:25
infrastructure so I think the cars are
09:26
here yeah so it's a it's a smart spot it
09:29
is and it the the culture is interesting
09:32
because the you know the Oldtimer cars
09:35
people hold the cars close to their
09:37
heart so there's a lot of passion and I
09:40
want to be able to expand that for the
09:43
potential seller whether might be a
09:46
private individual or other dealers
09:48
trying to get into the space it seems
09:50
daunting even for a small dealership or
09:53
a large car dealership that has cars
09:56
that want to reach into the US market or
09:58
other Market abroad and using some of
10:02
the tools that we've developed to what
10:04
we feel is the best way to sell a car is
10:07
online with proper photography and
10:10
videos and paperwork there's no no
10:13
hidden things and there's so many cars
10:15
in this area I feel like they'll take
10:17
decades Supply really is not the problem
10:19
one interesting Dynamic that we found is
10:21
I feel like a lot of individual sellers
10:24
either aren't ready now or aren't ready
10:26
sort of culturally to list their car
10:28
with their own own username online and
10:30
sell it from their own garage people
10:33
it's as you know it's about a 50-50
10:34
split in America on bat of commercial
10:37
companies dealers and sort of pros and
10:39
individuals list on Bett it's kind of
10:41
normal as an individual that yeah would
10:43
maybe list your car on the internet
10:44
that's a little bit less typical i'
10:46
found in Europe overall but certainly in
10:48
Germany and I think that that's why we
10:52
get these inbound inquiries where people
10:54
say you know hey Randy can I love B you
10:57
know I bought I know someone you know
10:59
and here in Germany has bought 45 cars
11:01
on a bring trailer right it's very easy
11:03
to buy them and a little bit more
11:04
anonymously and and do that sort of
11:05
thing but once you start selling them
11:07
they say hey is there anyone that can
11:09
help like Randy when are you setting up
11:11
an office in stutgart to help me sell
11:14
all my cars and I'm like well we're
11:15
working on that but this partner
11:17
approach is going to effectively Supply
11:19
that service so say a little bit how it
11:21
would work for somebody who's an
11:22
individual who has a collection of eight
11:24
beautiful cars and is interested in
11:27
listing one or two on BET like if they
11:29
if they're going to reach out to you
11:30
they going to reach out to bat how is
11:31
this going to work well we'll have a
11:33
landing page on the bat site as a
11:35
European partner and uh you can submit a
11:38
car and we will be in contact and we
11:41
have our team here that can handle
11:44
everything from small repairs to
11:46
detailing any pre-sale questions for the
11:49
car and storage which is important and
11:52
we'll handle the whole process or just
11:55
individual pieces you know there might
11:57
be like you said a guy that has walk
11:59
cars and then I want to sell a car but
12:02
how am I going to photo my car how am I
12:03
going to get it how do we format the
12:05
pictures properly for the site will they
12:07
fit correctly and am I taking enough
12:10
pictures and so we're we're going to
12:12
offer basically all the services that
12:15
are available in the US and then
12:17
actually in some others so for the US
12:19
buyers especially uh we're going to be
12:22
able to help you get paperwork for the
12:23
car so there's not going to be this well
12:26
now the car lands in the US and I still
12:29
what do I do to register or questions
12:32
about will the car work in what state
12:35
I'm in we'll be able to answer those
12:37
questions and help the potential buyers
12:39
and sellers but I I'm very excited to
12:42
help I wouldn't say change the mentality
12:46
of how the European buyers are I think
12:49
they just they never seen what we do I
12:51
know there's a lot of sites that have
12:53
maybe I wouldn't say copied your formula
12:56
that you've built but I think what most
12:59
people realize the power of our
13:01
community and how important the
13:03
community is to helping sell a car or
13:08
buy a car r trer and that's something
13:10
that is so unique and takes years to
13:13
build and with that we're going to be
13:17
able to get a buyer and a seller
13:19
together and have the creality behind
13:21
them commenting about their car and oh
13:24
look at this and this is such a special
13:26
car we never had this car here in the US
13:30
or or vice versa too that mean there's
13:32
European buyers that one we saw a lot of
13:35
muscle cars right we were in the
13:36
Netherland last year which was crazy to
13:39
see like Ford Falcons driving around
13:41
these small city streets there's also a
13:44
lot of European buyers that want the
13:46
cars that are available only in the US
13:49
yep I think the community that you touch
13:50
on you always touch on that because it's
13:52
so critical I think for for your success
13:54
how you engage with the community how
13:55
you're open to talking about a car
13:57
talking about what's good and bad about
14:00
the car right it's that's so different
14:01
than classified sites and even most of
14:04
the there's these other auctions that
14:05
have popped up really all over the world
14:07
that have taken a slight page from the
14:08
BH Playbook and kind of adapted it for
14:10
their local market but the community
14:13
vetting of the car is pretty absent on
14:14
most of those and so to be able to do
14:16
that and to talk openly and for your
14:18
willingness to talk openly as the seller
14:21
or the person representing the car is
14:24
not really anywhere else other than bat
14:26
and with a lot of sellers yourself and a
14:27
lot of sellers that sort of set the
14:29
example for that so you're an amazing
14:30
example for that but I imagine you're
14:32
going to get some folks coming in that
14:34
are new to that process or have
14:37
questions about these cars I think your
14:40
excitement about cars that are only in
14:41
Europe maybe some Europeans would say
14:43
hey who's this american guy here that's
14:45
representing these European car are cars
14:48
like if they're possessive of that right
14:50
like how will you approach that if
14:52
you're talking about this Julieta right
14:53
here in front of us or this 2600 behind
14:55
us or the Porsches I don't think it's
14:56
totally nationalism which sounds a
14:59
little crazy and outdated but it's it's
15:00
almost some of that may be justified a
15:02
little bit like why is there an American
15:04
that's starting here and what does that
15:05
mean for the whole ecosystem would you
15:07
speak to that a little bit yes I I mean
15:09
I I have a European background I went to
15:11
school in in Italy and early on in my
15:14
life and I've spent a lot of time in
15:16
Europe and I have a great deal of that
15:18
mentality we talked about this last year
15:21
at the bolognia auto show we're like
15:22
looking at cars and looking at the huge
15:24
Hall of all these cars and I think the
15:26
first thing I said to you well she put
15:29
all these cars at bat and they've all
15:31
gone like in a month basically then what
15:33
so you have to get a whole new Warehouse
15:35
right yeah then what happens we just
15:37
like changed the we've changed all those
15:39
cars were back again this year right
15:40
because those cars sit in inventory they
15:42
very different phenomenon for us
15:43
sometimes it makes us scratch our head a
15:44
little bit in in inventory for three
15:46
years I wouldn't say people would be a
15:49
slightly possessive but like why would
15:51
somebody from the us know more about
15:53
selling a Porsche 911 well we we also
15:56
have people on our team that are to be
15:59
speaking Dutch speaking Italian it's not
16:02
going to be just us space yeah the New
16:05
York guy it's beyond that well it's good
16:06
to tell people about right people may
16:08
not know or you know you and I have a
16:10
lot of shared experience but I I it's
16:12
always good for us to share that with
16:13
other yeah and I found you know we've
16:15
done a bunch of just by default I don't
16:18
know all these trips even this year I've
16:20
been the Euro back and forth a few times
16:23
and you know I went to the the zamort
16:26
trip with Kanan having his roll out for
16:29
the partnership program and I remember
16:31
sitting at the booth at the track and
16:33
just people are so excited like people
16:36
coming up to you people coming up to me
16:38
and I I don't know these people but they
16:39
know they know our brand right so so
16:42
it's very interesting in making these
16:44
contacts even other
16:46
dealers I've made some friends with some
16:48
local dealers and they just text me and
16:51
asked me hey I'm I'm going to put my
16:53
first car up what do you think of my
16:54
listing and that's great there's nothing
16:57
that makes me more happy to see somebody
16:59
be successful and I think that is maybe
17:02
something that we're not looking to
17:04
change anything we're just looking to
17:06
come into the space and offer something
17:08
that we feel is going to make the car
17:12
culture expand and make it an
17:15
international scene not just like oh you
17:18
know Germany has its own scene Italy
17:19
Portugal the US you know that at East
17:22
and the West Coast right like it's none
17:23
of that we want to tie everybody
17:25
together then the thought of like we're
17:27
at how many list so weak now 900 n yeah
17:31
our Peak this year went over thousand
17:33
yeah so that's interesting to think that
17:35
there's this whole other Frontier of
17:38
cars and community members like engaging
17:41
new community members sellers and buyers
17:43
and commenters and Watchers and people
17:46
sending it to their cousin and
17:48
everything else yeah it would be
17:49
interesting to see like uh we had the
17:52
bat event in New York a few weeks ago
17:55
and you know listening to some of the
17:56
commentators that were interviewed for
17:58
the the video uh that was on the site is
18:02
that you I was like a longtime worker
18:04
and then I came on to start making
18:06
comments these were users of bat are
18:08
buyers typically who brought a car to
18:10
the event and they said that they had
18:12
been working for a while is that you
18:13
noticed yeah and before they put their
18:15
first po so I'm thinking like how many
18:17
people are globally are like that like
18:20
they always like they can't post or say
18:22
something or can they not say it in
18:24
their language and type it out I I don't
18:26
know what they're going to do for that
18:27
part that be very interesting to have a
18:29
whole new there's so many people that
18:32
can bring I wouldn't say I hate when
18:34
people say like experts I'm always
18:37
willing to learn and there's somebody
18:38
that knows more about a particular model
18:40
or something about the car or or
18:43
situation so there's I just feel like
18:45
there's going to be all this new it's
18:47
like a Rejuvenation and an expansion of
18:50
what is already here in the US was going
18:53
to maybe start happening in Europe too
18:56
yeah I agree that enthusiasm one thing
18:57
that's always been interesting for me in
18:59
in Europe going to an offend talking to
19:01
somebody that says oh you're a BET right
19:03
I get introduced as the BET guy all the
19:04
time so they say oh you know I love bat
19:08
that's so great but there's so many cars
19:10
here that are kind of not in the bat
19:11
system what are the things they love
19:13
about bet and that I love about bet is
19:15
that you kind of track cars once they're
19:17
oh yeah you see it at a show you see it
19:19
at a race and you're like that was on on
19:22
BET or that was a 16600 vce car remember
19:24
when vce sold that car four years ago
19:26
right and then it's kind of still there
19:28
and it comes back as an aluminite car it
19:30
comes to the New York event or who knows
19:32
it shows up at retromobile or wherever
19:34
right you're like that's a b car and um
19:37
getting some of the European inventory
19:41
that's out there into that sort of
19:42
system so that it's it's sort of known
19:45
item I think will be really neat for
19:48
folks to get to do that and then I can
19:50
share that we're excited to host events
19:52
here in 20125 of Hosting some in-person
19:54
events we did one in 2024 at the s F1
19:59
circuit but we're going to pick a couple
20:00
for 2025 so anybody who's out there who
20:02
has ideas about events I hope they reach
20:04
out to you and to me and want to do some
20:06
in-person things in Europe because
20:09
that's what it's really all about for me
20:10
right is when you get to see the cars
20:11
and touch them and see them driving and
20:13
see smiles on people's faces so it's
20:15
more about just that experience than it
20:17
even is about the transactional part
20:19
yeah I'm I'm very excited I've been
20:21
following you know a lot of the European
20:23
listings we have a category that people
20:25
can subscribe to right you alerts and
20:27
and see what a vehicle's list in Europe
20:29
yeah so I'm interested now I get the
20:31
daily email it's like oh look at that
20:32
there's a piece of memorabilia so it's
20:35
already sort of catching on a bit like
20:38
it's nice see maybe one two three a day
20:41
and then maybe be 20 yeah and so much
20:44
new stuff to look at yeah you're going
20:46
to be part of that man I'm asking you
20:48
with part of uh filling up that category
20:49
I subscribe to that category in those
20:51
updates and love seeing things that are
20:52
listed in Europe for the same reasons
20:54
you mentioned because when it comes in
20:55
you like who's the seller and what
20:57
country is it in and and oh that's a
20:59
little different than what we have yeah
21:01
and that's interesting there was a last
21:02
week there was a beautiful 1906 valve in
21:06
I think it was in France and it sold I
21:09
thought it was a very attractive number
21:11
I and I had sent the guy a side note
21:13
like hey know really cool Cario congrats
21:15
that you're putting it up here and you
21:17
so we had like a little bit of a
21:18
dialogue and it turns out he's you know
21:20
he's also in the car business he's doing
21:23
looks like he's you know has a few cars
21:25
lined up to put on Brak F which is is is
21:27
exciting yeah you able see like all like
21:30
we're talking about this like cool 190e
21:32
with a cloth interior something we never
21:34
got in the US right we just got the
21:36
cookie cutter two colors and that was at
21:38
so it's it's very it's very exciting to
21:42
see the possibilities of this this
21:45
expansion and where where it take the
21:47
the whole community and and BR prow
21:50
especially uh we did another podcast
21:52
together where you gave your whole
21:53
background story we talked for I think
21:55
over an hour on you and me and c and the
21:58
car business prb and all this crazy
22:00
stuff but there's probably some people
22:01
that are going to listen to this or see
22:03
this that haven't heard a little bit of
22:04
your story but particularly the name
22:06
some of the cars that are behind you I
22:07
think it's probably worth mentioning you
22:08
mentioned your time in Italy you said
22:10
you studied there but you were there as
22:11
a as a young young kid some yeah almost
22:14
every summer spend lots of time in in
22:17
Italy and in a where about where about
22:19
in Italy on the Adriatic Coast in the
22:21
theut region which is a beautiful area
22:24
we're going to get there somay yeah yes
22:26
some cool drives but yeah I mean you
22:28
know some of these Alphas here these are
22:30
part of my DNA but also the German cars
22:32
are too I'm a big uh portion of BMW guy
22:36
uh I appreciate all these rare model
22:40
cars that uh were never available in the
22:43
US so this is um it's almost like a full
22:46
circle I'm reliving a lot of things from
22:48
my for my youth like I'm talking 10 to
22:51
15 years old you know being in Europe
22:54
and being driven around all these cool
22:56
cars and getting to experience that and
22:59
see these cars now are uh have a new
23:02
life right they it seems like there was
23:05
pre bat you know we' always look at
23:07
what's the coolest car we could get for
23:09
like 20 grand like a 964 a 911 uh you
23:14
know late G Body 911 and for a while
23:16
like the cars were like I'm loved and
23:18
it's not about the value and I think yes
23:22
the cars were just like basically
23:24
comically undervalued you know you could
23:26
buy like a 911 for 20 grand for a long
23:29
time for a long time that was when bet
23:31
started that's when they were yeah and
23:33
so yes you know the prices have climbed
23:34
and unfortunately you know some of the
23:36
entry level cost on the cars maybe keep
23:39
some people out but there's also cars
23:42
here that you can buy for 10 grand
23:44
you're excited about some of those
23:46
aren't that are really cool I love that
23:47
about you you've got some amazing stuff
23:49
in your collection but yeah I've seen
23:50
you perk up when you see a pujo 205 or
23:53
you see a GTI or you see uh what else I
23:57
mean I just bought a beautiful uh 89
23:59
renol uh turbo low kilometer you know
24:03
single ownership okay I'm uh the car is
24:06
actually due to come in the port in the
24:07
US next week and I'm so excited about
24:10
that car because I'm going to be the
24:12
only guy in the neighborhood to have
24:13
these car and I remember when that car
24:15
was new or being young and seeing that
24:17
car like driving around in in Italy and
24:19
like how cool that guy was that had that
24:21
car or GTI or you know equivalent car
24:24
that you know I'd come home to the US
24:27
and all my friends had like you know
24:29
Mustangs and camaras like they they
24:31
wouldn't even know what that car was and
24:33
so it's it's interesting that years
24:35
later there's this whole platform with
24:39
all these enthusiasts that really share
24:42
the same love that we have about the
24:44
cars you know we never talk about like
24:46
values and prices I think that's a
24:49
that's a very hard driven part of the
24:51
business that I don't really care for
24:54
car that self-promotion and too much
24:56
chatter about the money or the price or
24:58
things that you tend to avoid you kind
25:00
of focus on your enthusiasm and
25:02
delivering transparency and just making
25:05
the customer happy right what they get
25:07
like they're a little less hung up on
25:09
the value and even the final bid number
25:11
if they know what they're going to get
25:13
is pretty well taken care of and you
25:15
take care of the logistics and you know
25:17
avoiding surprises I think it kind of
25:19
deemphasizes everybody's ask about like
25:22
uh what's it worth or whatever anything
25:24
like that they're like more like what's
25:25
it going to be like or what's yeah
25:27
what's Anthony your expert opinion like
25:29
is this a good Alpha is this a good
25:32
Porsche 928 is this a you know a car
25:35
that I want I think that that changes
25:37
the conversation it does and part of the
25:39
part of program too is that we we get
25:42
some cars now you we're we're doing a
25:44
fair share of work Consignments we were
25:46
doing in the early days most of the cars
25:48
that we sold we owned and we find now
25:51
that because of the community the buyers
25:53
and the sellers kind of want to get
25:55
together after the sale right you know
25:57
I've maybe helped put the deal together
25:58
on the car and you know that seller like
26:01
can you share to email at the buyer you
26:03
know I'd love to stay connected well
26:05
that's really important car of the car's
26:07
history um we have a big record drill in
26:09
our building so we're we're heavy into
26:11
like the history of the car and keeping
26:13
it in a drive an electronic drive that
26:16
the person can add more service records
26:18
and it brings the history of the car to
26:21
the next buyer and the buyer after that
26:23
I think it's really important because a
26:25
lot of these cars like even now I look
26:27
at these 911 and they still look new to
26:29
me but they're they're old they're 40
26:32
years old 50 years old so you're you
26:34
become a caretaker of the car I don't
26:35
think so much um like you said there
26:39
people are really hung up I'm like oh
26:40
this is my car it's worth this much I
26:42
feel like a car it has like really cool
26:45
history or documentation has a value
26:48
that you can't put a dollar in out to
26:50
and then if you can connect like prior
26:52
owners and they're friendly and they
26:55
know each other and maybe they be I I
26:57
connected to two uh very prominent bat
27:00
members earlier this year of a big car
27:02
deal and they kind of took off and
27:04
became like Fast Friends right I'm happy
27:06
to see that yeah you know they they
27:08
never would have met each other without
27:10
me yeah and it was over cars and uh I
27:13
think that's what makes uh bat unique
27:16
and coming into Europe with a sense of
27:18
European culture right I think we were
27:20
just at a Christmas Fair here uh the
27:22
other night and you know it's like a a
27:24
Wednesday night and everybody's out
27:26
drinking hot wine and in in the town
27:29
square and everybody's together and just
27:32
as a community why not for cars right
27:35
yeah why why wouldn't that work here I
27:38
think it's something that I didn't
27:40
Envision it I just kind of stepped into
27:41
it basically last year when we came uh
27:45
to do this first trip in the Netherlands
27:48
and then came back this summer for the
27:51
F1 event as ort the historic event um I
27:55
saw that Community I'm like wow look
27:57
this could really like I I remember
27:59
getting back on the plane and I think I
28:02
like called you or I text you right away
28:04
like we're doing this is happening yeah
28:06
this is happening like I had made the
28:08
decision that this is uh what I really
28:11
wanted to do we were thinking about
28:13
expanding more in the US and and having
28:15
another office just to because we had
28:18
cars from like all around the country
28:19
people send us cars to sell and I
28:21
thought oh well maybe we should have
28:22
another location just to make things a
28:25
little easier but Europe doesn't seem
28:28
seemed like that big of a reach for me
28:30
and once you saw it I remember that
28:31
you're enthusiasm you were like Randy
28:32
this is crazy these people all are
28:34
begging for bat rically right yeah and
28:37
how do we take it to him right and I
28:39
knew that yeah you and I having some
28:41
conversations about how to do that or
28:42
what got us here and then like remember
28:44
like after that event the like that
28:46
Saturday we drove through the town was
28:48
that right like and everybody's like on
28:51
the in the sidewalks like outside of the
28:53
restaurants I I think uh Chris was like
28:56
recording it as we were driving through
28:57
I I was in Old Alpha Julia super and
29:01
just the enthusiasm for the cars I'm
29:04
like wow this is life this totally makes
29:06
sense was just like basically the light
29:08
bulb really uh clicked and went bright
29:11
at that moment I said uh this is a
29:14
something that's going to be really
29:16
interesting and I want to be a part of
29:18
it and uh I'm excited to see what the
29:21
next choer is going to be mhm well
29:23
nothing makes me happier than you guys
29:25
want to be involved your reputation I
29:27
think precedes you it's very interesting
29:28
for me when I bring up different Sellers
29:30
and different features on the site and
29:31
different things what people know about
29:33
what people don't know about on BET
29:34
right it's it's a lot of people no bat
29:36
now so that's good you got to get there
29:38
first right but now when you mention
29:41
particular cars or you mention
29:43
particular seller names or that local
29:45
Partners exist people more and more are
29:47
starting to say oh yeah yeah yeah or oh
29:49
I know someone who used that service or
29:51
oh I know someone who bought a, 1600 FL
29:53
car I mean there's been, 1500 of them
29:55
people are they are out there right so
29:57
that's has started to become more sort
30:00
of a a positive response instead of you
30:02
know glassy eyes like what like who yeah
30:05
so it's it's becoming more known and I
30:07
think that's super positive and even
30:09
over here like when I mentioned 1600 I'm
30:12
not with you I don't travel with you all
30:13
the time I get to travel with you a few
30:15
times here but in my travels even
30:16
earlier this weekend elsewhere I'm like
30:18
oh yeah I'm you know meeting up with
30:20
Anthony we're talking about sales in
30:21
Europe people like oh they're coming
30:23
like this is super exciting so that sort
30:25
of momentum shift is kind of moving in
30:27
the right Direction I think and I think
30:29
that means the next few months are going
30:31
to be exciting these first you say 15
30:33
tell me about your vision for those 15
30:35
and how you think that interaction ought
30:37
to go or how how that came about and
30:39
then where you hope to go from there I
30:41
chose a small collection of cars I felt
30:45
that kind it was a wide range right from
30:47
the like we're never going to go back to
30:49
talk about values right but like the
30:52
lower end of the value scale of we'll
30:54
say like a 20,000 and Below card to over
30:58
so we want to try to see what the
31:01
interaction is from the community and US
31:03
selling these cars uh under $600 below
31:06
and obviously you know we're us-based
31:09
and are the US buyers going to be really
31:11
excited to see us selling cars in Europe
31:13
because I've had so many people say well
31:16
I wish I could buy this car in Europe
31:18
it's like well I'm calling it now like
31:20
here's the C it's in Europe yep and I'm
31:22
going to help you get the car here so I
31:24
hope that you want to bid on it and be a
31:27
part of the process of whether trying to
31:29
buy the car or commenting about the car
31:32
helping Elevate that car So eventually
31:34
it does get sold whether it stays in
31:36
Europe or comes to the US so what I've
31:38
done is I divided a bunch of cars I
31:40
shipped some cars that I purchased to
31:42
the us and we're going to launch cars
31:45
you know that came from here and we're
31:47
also going to on cars here because I
31:48
don't want to say I think initially
31:50
people would always think like well my
31:52
main goal is just to sell the cars in
31:54
the US and that is not my goal my goal
31:57
is to have the fluency that we've
31:59
developed for the US market for the
32:01
European seller and buyer you know
32:03
people don't have time right like the
32:05
whole idea of the website what's
32:08
developed in bat and for myself is we
32:11
built a virtual car dealership because
32:13
people are short on time and my part of
32:15
our sales is that the auction that gives
32:18
you all the information to be able to
32:20
basically come in the last 10 minutes of
32:22
the auction even if you haven't been
32:23
there from day one read through the
32:25
comments look at the pictures and make
32:28
educated decision and maybe you know
32:30
somebody doesn't want to walk into an
32:32
old brick and mor car dealership and
32:34
have a hard sale you walked around the
32:37
car uh not given the ability to look at
32:40
the car how many times have you gone to
32:42
look at cars and you want to just be
32:44
left alone to look at the car right yeah
32:46
and you can't do that if somebody's like
32:48
over your back talking to you about the
32:50
car or it may be like you know standing
32:53
the next to that scratch to to hopeing
32:56
you don't see it so I feel like what
32:58
we've developed over the years is that
33:00
ability for that buyer to to be able to
33:03
look at that car at their convenience
33:05
and go back and look at it and also you
33:08
know we work a lot of car collectors and
33:11
also buyers for collections and the way
33:14
we've developed our listings is that I
33:17
want that guy's mechanic to look at my
33:19
listing and I wanted to go look at the
33:21
75 undercarriage pictures those are
33:24
important to me it seems monotonous to
33:26
have all these pictures
33:28
but it's important it's really important
33:30
because that guy that might be buying
33:32
that car has a mechanic or has a friend
33:36
that maybe knows more about that Mark
33:38
and he can you look at this car and like
33:40
oh listen this guy's like basically
33:43
everything and and you plan to do that
33:46
here on the European cars as well yes
33:48
with a similar system yes yeah and fra
33:50
for the first bunch of listings I'm
33:53
personally driving on these cars just
33:54
like the cars that I sell on the these
33:57
you've had hands on yeah I drove every
33:58
one of them yeah yeah we you know so
34:00
it's uh that's going to be important I
34:02
mean obviously at the beginning at the
34:04
beginning yeah I mean I and I can only
34:06
probably stretch myself so far but I
34:07
will put somebody in place that will
34:10
emulate what I do and I feel is
34:12
important because every car if you don't
34:14
know the car it's hard to say we're not
34:17
really in the business of selling cars
34:19
we'll Market the cars right so it's
34:20
important that I touch a lot of the cars
34:23
and there's a lot of interesting cars
34:25
and I have some Prett neat cars coming
34:27
up and we'll probably just do it when we
34:29
roll out people will figure out when
34:30
they see the cars go live but no
34:32
freezers no te right now yeah I saw
34:34
there was a van there's a sports car
34:36
there's a convertible there's a we're
34:38
not just doing 12 julietas that all look
34:40
the same this is quite a variety yeah
34:42
it's quite a variety and like I like we
34:45
were talking this morning you know
34:46
looking around some some of the cars
34:47
here in this Hall is that the diversity
34:51
and to see cars that probably we might
34:54
have had some of these cars in the US
34:55
but they phased out because not be able
34:58
to get fixed or parts or they just
35:00
rusted away and it's neat to see a car
35:02
that like you maybe had it 20 or 30
35:05
years ago and be able to buy one that's
35:07
here it's been hidden somewhere in
35:08
Europe and you didn't know about it
35:09
because you know he wants to go through
35:11
all those crazy websites like it's
35:14
difficult yesy you're typing I do I mean
35:17
you know that's my crazy hobby but most
35:19
normal people don't want to do anything
35:21
like that yeah I I reached out on a car
35:23
actually the other day and I think there
35:25
was a deal in Switzerland and I I sent a
35:28
message through WhatsApp and like no
35:30
response and I'm like why is this guy
35:32
like not get in touch with me it's like
35:34
that's that's annoying I I bet you
35:36
that's frustrating for a lot of private
35:39
buyers and sellers too yeah so being
35:42
communicative is is probably one of the
35:44
oh yeah sort of parts of certainly your
35:46
approach in the US but how you going to
35:48
handle if you if you're in America are
35:50
you going to have people here in Europe
35:52
Fielding questions on the time zone here
35:53
are you going to be personally answering
35:55
for these on East Coast time how are you
35:57
going to do it there'll be a split but
35:59
you know we have because we have
36:00
bilingual people on the team if somebody
36:03
wants to hop on the phone or do a video
36:05
call you know we're big into like the
36:06
video walk around the cars you people
36:08
that can't make it to see a car know I I
36:11
always say hey luck you know take 20
36:13
minutes and set up an appointment we'll
36:14
walk the car you show you things that
36:16
maybe you would never even want to look
36:18
at on a car think it's important to ease
36:21
that buyer's questions basically yeah
36:24
well and do you want people to reach out
36:28
to list cars with you that are in a
36:30
certain range or do you want everything
36:33
under the sun to come your way in terms
36:35
of variety of cars or value level or
36:38
what should people do that are listening
36:39
to this and have all sorts of different
36:41
cars that they'd like to potentially
36:43
list on BET how would you vet for that
36:45
we welcome pretty much any car even
36:49
memorabilia things that might be special
36:51
maybe some magazine collections that are
36:53
sitting in some person's garage or you
36:55
know we're talking about like toy cars
36:57
and cars and all these things like
36:58
there's so much stuff you love that
37:00
stuff man I always see you that stuff
37:02
turning your head I know that stuff's
37:04
that stuff's exciting but just for that
37:05
question the clarity on that question
37:07
somebody's got a 80s car that isn't like
37:10
a super high-end car do you want them to
37:12
reach out to you and Le consider getting
37:14
it on the BET or is this more for the
37:16
100K cars you're looking to fish no we
37:18
we want those cars we want the the lower
37:20
Valu cars because we feel those sort of
37:23
cars seem to sit a lot on the websites
37:25
around here like those kind of mid price
37:28
lower value cars and the super expensive
37:30
cars right because maybe they ask me
37:32
price are like way out of whack or just
37:35
somebody put that car out on even a
37:37
dealer put the car on their website and
37:39
they never realize they've been sitting
37:40
there for like a year with some crazy
37:43
asking price with not many pitchers
37:45
forget about if the pites are good yep
37:47
uh just nothing really to substantiate
37:50
that asking price for so yes you know I
37:54
do want to be able to help people that
37:56
want to kind of put their toe in the
37:58
water right like I have this this old
38:00
BMW but I you know it was my dad's car y
38:03
you know and it's been in our family
38:05
forever and we just don't want it to end
38:08
up just gone or not taken care of yeah
38:11
yeah it wants to go to somewhere special
38:12
if it's a special car yeah and I and we
38:15
talked about this this morning where I
38:17
were talking like hey there's something
38:19
about that uniqueness of that Euro Car
38:22
like and I want to be able to to see a
38:25
US buyer be able to connect on a like a
38:28
really interesting car and we'll say it
38:31
Euro cars are better right like that's
38:32
your general General team yeah I think
38:35
so too we can say that that sometimes As
38:37
Americans you don't want to say that but
38:38
I think I always love buau cars my dad
38:40
did the gr Market importing thing so we
38:42
had European spec cars in the driveway
38:44
when I was a little kid and so I'm
38:46
spoiled forever and I Plex about all the
38:48
little details we were in Italy last
38:50
year I remember I bought a car on bat uh
38:53
eurospec m635 CSI which I I had one uh
38:57
when I was younger and it was the exact
38:59
color combination that I had and I
39:02
actually knew the car when it was back
39:04
like in the 90s and ironically it lived
39:07
in my hometown for a while and then the
39:08
car got sold and it kind of disappeared
39:11
and I I just finished the car you were
39:13
finding that car we were in an airport
39:14
or a restaurant dinner yeah so it was
39:18
interesting like cuz the car had some
39:20
like incorrect wheels and you those cars
39:22
had the TRX you know Wheels which uh you
39:25
know most of them got bined and you know
39:26
they had a Rec calling them so I I got
39:28
the car and I like plexed about putting
39:31
the correct Wheels with you know more
39:33
model tires so I had the I spent like it
39:35
took I think almost like eight months to
39:37
get the wheels built like custom lips
39:40
that had the same profile as the
39:42
original Wheels I just finished a car
39:44
actually like uh last weekend I was
39:46
driving it around and I said this
39:48
couldn't be more of a special car and
39:50
yeah the Euro cars are really cool and
39:52
it's nice to see uh actually on the
39:55
other side of this building there's a
39:56
couple of Euro 635s here which are you
39:59
just never see yeah right and uh I'm so
40:02
excited to be able to be involved in
40:04
these cars and touch them so much that
40:07
if I can help a private seller get their
40:10
car up on the site and even if it's just
40:13
simple photography you know we don't
40:15
need to be involved in the whole process
40:17
of selling the car anything I can do to
40:20
help get that next Community member it's
40:22
another connection it just grows what I
40:24
feel is super important at this juncture
40:28
yep so someone who's here in Germany a
40:31
lot of people speak English but there's
40:33
maybe collectors that don't feel
40:34
comfortable talking about cars in
40:35
English or something like that you don't
40:37
speak German but you have a team member
40:38
can they reach out can they go straight
40:40
into a German conversation to talk about
40:42
submitting their car how would that work
40:44
yeah if we we get an inquiry of any
40:46
parts of Germany or other parts of
40:48
Europe we'll start an email and if
40:49
somebody wants to just speak German
40:51
we'll put them in contact with somebody
40:53
on our team that and help them this is
40:55
via email or are you guys picking up the
40:57
of WhatsApp I know there's got tools
40:59
here that people focus on that Americans
41:01
my European friends are always shocked
41:03
that not everyone in America uses
41:04
WhatsApp all the time like they do here
41:06
everybody is here which is great and
41:08
you're you and I communicate that way
41:09
especially when we're here but so
41:11
multiple ways of doing that yeah like
41:12
phone like if somebody wants to call I
41:14
think that's one of the main sort of
41:15
questions I get or ensil pressure points
41:18
where they're like hey I just want to
41:19
pick up the phone and talk to a human
41:21
being in Germany yeah or or in us but
41:24
pref preferably on the same time zone
41:26
here locally that has my car will accept
41:29
my car they can do that absolutely and
41:31
we're still I mean it's hard cuz we have
41:33
so much contact and we're we're doing so
41:36
much we still like to pick up the phone
41:38
you know even uh through the partnership
41:40
program now and I do get you know
41:42
somebody reaches out you know we
41:45
obviously have some formats to answer a
41:47
lot of questions up front but I always
41:49
like to be able to pick up the phone or
41:50
somebody on my team to pick up up the
41:52
phone and discuss the car and I always
41:55
find it interesting like you know I'll
41:56
call somebody like wow you're really
41:58
calling me like you didn't have to do
41:59
that I'm like I want to know about your
42:01
car like whether I going to sell the car
42:02
for you or help you about it it's great
42:04
that you're reached out like tell me
42:06
about the car maybe we're not going to
42:07
do something today but we might do
42:09
something down the line or you have a
42:11
friend that needs something and we're
42:13
we're you know basically all referrals
42:15
so so we got so many referrals it's
42:18
interesting you know I get somebody
42:19
reach out like yeah I have a friend he's
42:21
uh I didn't know anything about bat and
42:24
he just reached out by email and and I
42:28
send in links to different cars and that
42:30
person's like wow I didn't even realize
42:32
this site existed then they're signed up
42:34
and they're part of the community now
42:35
they're in yeah that's great so I think
42:38
you know especially like you're saying
42:39
for uh people in Europe that you know
42:41
want to be able to talk to somebody in
42:43
their the native language to feel more
42:46
comfortable about the processes we'll
42:49
have all that in place okay we're
42:51
excited to help everybody fantastic any
42:54
closing thoughts here anything I'm
42:56
thinking of forgetting trying to touch
42:57
on in particular people that are
42:59
listening to this in Europe that are
43:01
like okay how do I do this right so you
43:03
talked about phone support you talked
43:05
about language support talk about types
43:07
of cars top to bottom different values
43:10
different uh makes models different
43:12
locations you people have to get the car
43:14
here for you to see it will you pick up
43:15
the phone and talk to them via some
43:17
photographs how are the logistical
43:19
components going to work yeah we'll
43:20
start with some photos we usually that's
43:22
the first thing we ask even in the US is
43:24
part of the partnership program we want
43:26
to we want look at some pictures of a
43:28
car I always ask you know where are you
43:29
located give me some history about the
43:31
car we were talking about this last
43:32
night dinner like nobody's Throwing Cars
43:34
up on bat yeah but that's not people
43:37
think it's easy put it on the website
43:39
there's a lot of there's a lot of back
43:40
and for before that right yeah we a lot
43:42
of people don't realize that actually
43:43
sometimes we want to know like are there
43:45
adjustments that need to be made to the
43:47
car has the car been does it have an
43:49
online fingerprint already you I had
43:51
somebody reach out last week that had a
43:53
failed sale and you know I whether I'm
43:55
going to redo that car for that person I
43:57
just gave them some you know some free
43:59
advice and you know why maybe the car
44:01
fell short there were some things that
44:02
probably were right up front that should
44:04
have been taken care of and it's not
44:06
because the person that was selling the
44:08
car necessarily did a bad job it's just
44:10
every car has a different it's not just
44:14
like take the pictures of the car and
44:15
put it up on the site every model almost
44:18
has a specific photo set for us because
44:21
we have so much experience selling cars
44:23
on bring a trailer there's certain
44:26
things that people are be looking for
44:28
especially if you're selling a car in
44:30
Europe and we have a a US buyer is going
44:33
to engine number underhood number right
44:37
the data tag is it the right font yes
44:40
right like all those sorts of different
44:41
things are super critical and like we
44:42
were talking earlier about the you know
44:44
the culture of the cars right it's like
44:46
that's not a defensive mechanism the
44:48
this is not a demand it's just part of
44:50
like what are the Mar's day it's like
44:52
cry requirement now it used to be in a
44:55
quiet conversation or hidden and now
44:58
it's like part of the presentation
44:59
absolutely you know to list you know a
45:01
semi modern Porsche uh and not have a
45:03
DME report right or not have a detailed
45:07
pain meter reading map on a car these
45:09
are just basic things that help that
45:12
person that's buying a car from far away
45:14
feel good yep and uh that's what you
45:16
want is a buyer to feel happy and know
45:18
what they're bidding on you yeah and and
45:20
cars could have issues and they may not
45:23
be perfect nothing's perfect even the
45:25
best restored car or the best original
45:27
car I mean you could pick anything apart
45:29
I always say but you have to sometimes
45:31
take you know three steps back and look
45:33
at what what you have based on the
45:35
mileage whether it's in kilometers or
45:38
miles what is this car like and what
45:40
what kind of Life did it be and it's
45:42
important um you know the biggest hurdle
45:45
for us is going to be like you know the
45:47
documentation and trying to convert that
45:50
you know European documentation so
45:52
somebody can read uh what's on there uh
45:55
you guys have been working on that I
45:56
mean that's actually I would man that
45:57
could be an entire podcast talking about
45:59
how cars are titled in these different
46:01
countries or not titled or registered or
46:03
yeah legitimately moved from country to
46:05
country or the taxation structure
46:07
between buying a car from Switzerland to
46:09
Germany to UK to America to all these
46:12
different places it's complex but you
46:14
guys have already invested in expertise
46:16
there knowledge on the ground here and
46:19
help on the New York side if they're
46:20
going back and forth so yes I'm very
46:22
encouraged by what you've already done
46:24
but I'm sure there will be more
46:25
learnings as you move for for an ability
46:27
to help people sure yeah and it's really
46:30
it's important because uh I mean even
46:33
within Europe too like you know have a
46:34
prer documentation on your transfer of
46:36
cars like it's never a bad idea it's no
46:38
it's yeah yeah it's that's what brings
46:41
the transparency and I think um you know
46:43
not that there's you know there's
46:45
perceived problems whether it's in the
46:46
US or Europe they'll smoke out like a
46:49
lot of potential issues what a car right
46:51
if there's a a seller that has a car and
46:54
has a fat paperwork or no paperwork or
46:56
or maybe the car had a change of in or
46:59
some you know something there because
47:00
you know we heavily rely on there's a
47:02
lot of tools in in in the US there's
47:05
tools here too there's just a separate
47:06
tool set yeah and no we're integrating
47:08
those and exciting to learn and add
47:11
those so it's useful for people on both
47:13
sides yeah so yeah there you know
47:14
there's some stuff obviously like you
47:16
know when you're he in Europe you know
47:18
if there's a US listing you can't really
47:19
look at a Carfax or you can't click on
47:21
it so I was thinking about that the
47:22
other day like where we're going to go
47:24
back to the old school bat when we were
47:27
like scanning that in and those in the
47:29
photo gallery right now it's become just
47:31
like it's there it's digital it's
47:33
expected it's expected to click on so
47:35
you can't see that and there's tools
47:37
here vice versa that maybe the US buyer
47:40
would want to see heard about but
47:42
doesn't know the name or the website to
47:43
go to we know that and we can add that
47:45
on on the site yeah and we have we have
47:46
updates to the site even that I haven't
47:48
even briefed you on yet Anthony that are
47:49
that are coming that will help that be
47:51
more transparent and help out because we
47:52
want that same ethos to carry through
47:54
right that's what makes for the happy
47:55
buyers in my op opion yeah absolutely
47:58
and moving on forward we we're you know
48:00
we're very excited about it it's kind of
48:02
been my I guess it was my life long
48:05
dream I didn't realize it yeah you know
48:07
it was just sitting there kind of right
48:09
in front of me but I just didn't realize
48:10
it yeah and my team's super excited you
48:13
know I've had uh this week I have a
48:15
short amount of people here on the team
48:18
helping do this video we're doing right
48:19
now but there last month you know I
48:22
brought a couple of my guys from my
48:24
media team and one is a fairly new
48:27
higher you I'm just out of college and
48:29
never traveled alone was like all these
48:31
experiences like a dropp them down like
48:34
okay we're doing all this stuff and
48:35
we're doing it it was so great to see
48:38
that all the training and the all the
48:40
work that I've done developing this
48:43
process that I was able to do it here
48:46
remotely while the cars are being
48:48
photographed uh we basically were able
48:51
to like load these cars in real time on
48:54
the other side yeah in the US so um it's
48:57
going to be really interesting to see
48:59
where where it all goes I'm excited to
49:01
see what cars are being submitted and
49:04
and where where it takes us and some of
49:06
the events we'll do next year to uh I
49:08
want to meet more people and shake hands
49:10
and talk more about the cars fantastic
49:12
well 2025 is going to be great we're
49:14
going to get to do a lot together we're
49:15
going to be over here in Europe fair
49:16
amount you and I I'm sure together some
49:19
the events that we mentioned I'm hoping
49:20
that people uh will reach out to us they
49:22
can find six vce pretty easily via bat
49:25
or even Direct ar.com and also reaching
49:28
out to bet and the BET team who will
49:30
also be supporting this around the clock
49:32
as we always do but seem equally excited
49:35
too lot they are EXC I mean people are
49:37
people are the the inventory that comes
49:39
from over here gets people excited but
49:41
the success stories and the oh this car
49:44
just landed from here oh my goodness do
49:46
you see that you know 73 Porsche RS sell
49:49
on bat out of Austria you know wow look
49:52
at that new listing in the Netherlands
49:54
you know those those sort of stories
49:55
that it's it's invigorating it's
49:56
exciting yeah it's a it's sort of a new
49:59
flavor of BET right bet is not just
50:01
stagnant it's growing and it's moving
50:02
and there's I tell you I mean there's
50:04
just so much recognition of the bat
50:07
ethos and community and the just
50:09
difference of bat over here that's why
50:12
these people are always telling me like
50:13
when are you coming when are you coming
50:14
it's needed so badly so I think now that
50:18
the phone lines are open and the the
50:20
emailing Box is open and the submission
50:22
flow starts happening yes I think it's
50:24
going to be really really exciting to do
50:25
that with you Anthony I feel very
50:27
privileged to get to do it with you but
50:28
to also do bat in in Europe so we'll see
50:31
where it goes yeah that's a so far it's
50:33
been a great you know I think it's a
50:35
great success story even the uh the
50:38
local parner program that you know three
50:41
years ago is just like a fought like
50:43
that you have what 50 now yeah 52 or 54
50:47
in the US and three in Canada and you
50:49
know one soon to be five in Europe and
50:52
the UK so that's a that maybe we finish
50:55
with a final touch on that I mean your
50:57
your plan isn't to come over here and be
50:58
the only partner in Europe your plan is
51:00
to be over here and you talk in a very
51:02
interesting way to me very different
51:04
than other Sellers and even dealers that
51:06
I hear of of VI working together with
51:08
the other ones that are in uh other
51:10
countries how do you hope that that goes
51:12
I guess is a question that's that's an
51:15
interesting point you bring up Randy
51:16
because I I'm a super competitive guy
51:19
don't get me wrong race car driver uh
51:22
I'm competitive but I like to see other
51:24
people be successful
51:27
and you know I have lots of sellers
51:30
friends on the bat site the dealers and
51:33
I'm always happy to help you know we got
51:35
a question or even how I address this
51:38
comment like don't be mad like you you
51:40
have to take a look at you know what
51:42
that person really wants and I feel like
51:44
also the dealers here in Europe I don't
51:47
want them to think that I'm coming in
51:49
here and you like rolling everybody down
51:51
like I I want to try to connect and and
51:54
bring that sense of community and that
51:56
everybody should work together we share
51:58
a lot of the same clients right so the
52:01
clients don't ever want to be alienated
52:03
but you know yes obviously there's
52:04
always guys that have like an allegiance
52:06
this is my guy I deal with and and I'm
52:09
only buy cars through them or sell cars
52:11
through them is said we want to try to
52:14
work together to expand the platform and
52:17
it's not just monetarily uh it's more I
52:20
feel like I'm part of this culture where
52:23
we're trying to save these cars save
52:25
them for our children
52:27
right we don't want these cars to die
52:28
out and people say like oh what happens
52:31
after everything goes electric well we
52:34
we see there's a little bit of push back
52:35
with that now right is that we can
52:38
basically make sure that especially some
52:40
of these cars from even the 50s in the
52:42
60s that are kind of dying off a little
52:44
bit is there's this new Rejuvenation and
52:48
the they're part of the history and
52:49
there's so much in Europe the history of
52:52
the cars it's just so deep compared to
52:55
the US right you know we a JY right JY
52:57
has so much the sense of Pride here and
52:59
the cars and we know we're just looking
53:01
at a bunch of Mercedes this morning and
53:02
it's like these cars are important and
53:05
they they should be saved and the only
53:06
way to save them is that everybody has
53:08
to do their part as a community and yes
53:11
you know dealers in their business is
53:13
selling cars and I want you know dealers
53:15
to feel like they can reach out also and
53:18
we can help them you know put some cars
53:21
up and maybe you never know what that
53:23
could lead to they you do want them to
53:25
do that yeah abely yeah absolutely for
53:28
sure yeah I thought it's been and I I
53:30
try not to abuse this but I actually
53:32
steer people who are wanting to be
53:34
partners or learning about Partners
53:36
whatever to you as sort of an example of
53:38
that and you've been very open with your
53:40
time to talk to some of them and be like
53:41
this is kind of how works on BT and this
53:43
is what we've built in a nonprotective
53:45
non-competitive sort of way you're just
53:47
like hey you're far away from me and
53:50
there's there's a whole pool of cars in
53:51
your zone so try doing it this way this
53:53
is the 1600 below way and see how it
53:55
goes and many of them were like wow I
53:57
get to talk to Anthony I mean you're a
53:58
very public visible success story and so
54:02
I appreciate that personally and I think
54:03
it's been helpful for some younger up
54:05
incomers and some newer folks that that
54:07
that are newer to bat and and I think
54:10
it's appreciated yeah I met some sellers
54:12
at the V we had in New York a few weeks
54:14
ago and you know obviously I can't see
54:16
all the cars in the site I have my own
54:18
lean I'm in you know trying to keep
54:20
things going and we're just bombarded
54:22
with so much work is that you know I had
54:24
a couple of sellers who a young uh
54:28
dealer that you know I went and looked
54:30
has you know sold quite a few cars on
54:32
the site you know he asked what what
54:33
should I do I'm like well stay in your
54:35
lane whatever you're doing is working
54:37
right like uh just we get to your
54:39
clients and try to show everything with
54:41
the cars and and do your best right so
54:44
there's I think what really is appealing
54:47
here is that there's so many dealers
54:49
that I don't now and I want to meet a
54:51
lot of these guys too because they have
54:53
cars and I'm just so interested on the
54:55
cars El too if we can get some of them
54:58
out there and get them out on bat and
55:00
help bat grow into further markets I
55:03
feel like it'll keep our hobby alive too
55:05
well I think that's a great point to end
55:07
on I think it's fun talking about this
55:08
stuff I think you and I could talk for a
55:09
long time about all these markets all
55:11
these cars all the opportunity uh it's
55:13
really fun to be in Germany with you
55:15
we're going to have a German meal
55:16
tonight and uh celebrate kind of
55:18
starting to get this thing to come to
55:20
fruition people should definitely watch
55:22
for 16 vehicles on the site and these
55:25
European located there's still going to
55:27
be we should clarify that there's still
55:29
going to be called 1600 Force same
55:31
username same way of subscribing you'll
55:33
probably see a little bit different
55:34
backgrounds or that sort of thing in the
55:36
listing um and obviously the the driving
55:39
videos your signature components will
55:41
still happen they'll just kind of be
55:43
different looking license plates on the
55:44
cars in front of you when you're chasing
55:46
around over here right yeah was it was I
55:48
when I did my first one uh I went to go
55:51
back to the computer look I'm like wow
55:52
this is so crazy like look at these cars
55:54
that are passing me right even the buses
55:57
like I had put one up on YouTube by
56:00
mistake and a follower like text me like
56:03
what are you doing where yeah it's right
56:05
oh no I got to pull that one down yeah
56:07
that's like years out see your out so
56:10
people will be able to find it there and
56:12
they should definitely subscribe to that
56:14
and that category you talked about
56:15
earlier which is listings located in
56:17
Europe that's a category and is
56:19
searchable and is subscribable on bat
56:21
people should also know yeah that soon
56:22
we're going to a multicurrency model so
56:24
when you're listing Vehicles here they
56:26
can in Euros for European buyers as well
56:29
they don't have to be dealing in US
56:30
Dollars which has always been a little
56:31
bit clunky and and unusual uh so that's
56:34
going to get better and better and yeah
56:35
we'll have more product releases and
56:37
we're investing in this as well because
56:38
you're investing you're doing uh things
56:41
with facility and inventory and team
56:43
here and we're doing that as well so
56:44
when we're marching sort of in side by
56:47
side partnership it seems to go well so
56:48
we're going to do that here as well and
56:50
it be it would be great you know for
56:52
especially people that are new to the
56:53
site new signups that you know use the
56:56
app and look at the app and play with it
56:58
and and maybe you know do some test
56:59
spitting on cars and be involved in the
57:01
comments and the cars you know because
57:03
obviously there's so much could be
57:05
involv you don't have to be able to just
57:06
buy a car on the site you could just be
57:08
part of the daily chatter yep yeah or B
57:11
people had that model or know that car
57:13
or know you know their parents had that
57:15
car or it's something they know about
57:17
yeah local expertise is always a plus so
57:20
thanks everybody for listening this has
57:21
been super fun i' enjoy talking to you
57:23
Anthony yeah it's great it's a ton of
57:24
fun we'll do this again and again and
57:26
people have questions hopefully they'll
57:27
fire them to you or to me and we'll go
57:30
have some more fun in Germany all right
