Thank you, happy to be here. Good to see you guys smaller

show today. Everyone's off doing things.

There's I think Davids on in somewhere in bass straight bobbing up and down on the way back from Tazi Eds at a work function and I think Scottys on in sale.

Yeah, so, yeah, so. So everyone's enjoying their

holidays this week before Easter, you know.

The real ones show up. The real ones always show up, no

matter what. That's.

The last week, yeah. That's right.

We're just answering questions from from our from our audience last week, but we're going to continue to finish answering those questions today a little bit later in the show.

But first of all, car updates, gentlemen.

We'll start with Alamdeep Singh. Updates with you, my friend.

Nothing extravagant. Got a recall notice for the DMX.

So allegedly the one of the fuel hoses has been installed incorrectly in many of the cars. Other the bracketry is wrong or

something of that nature, and it can rub up against the dipstick tube eventually possibly causing a fuel leak in a fire.

Yeah, OK, OK. Not ideal.

No, it's not. I'd imagine it's a fairish

effect as of 1 how poorly it was installed or how poorly the bracket was manufactured. And then obviously how much

vibration your car probably goes through that would probably impact how quickly you're going to run into issues.

A lot of these recalls tend to be proactive.

Thankfully some of them are very much reactive and once a few people have died, but I don't think this one fits that bill yet. So yeah, we got, I got the thing

in the mail for that. Yeah.

Also got the the work youths, the work youth to D Max.

There used to be two. One of them got smashed and

never repaired. But that's not the they also got

the same recall. So I'll see how it long it takes

to get the work you've done and then we'll do our one.

Yeah. So yeah, to, you know, again,

it's always good to again have the the well at least get the notification quick enough and then get things sorted.

One thing also I noticed was that obviously as you guys know, I had to get all the tyres done on the D Max.

And because I have to get the tyres done, it seemed like there was some uneven where obviously the car seemed to be in full alignment. What I've noticed is a few

people have complained about that.

So maybe a situation that people discussed that some of the front knuckles are just the poorly manufactured doors.

Something else is going on there where it's going to keep happening. And if that's the case, your boy

want some compensation. Apparently it's a common thing

on on those D maxes. I think we've talked about it

before. I think it's a common, I've

common fault with them. They've got, they've got issues

with their alignment and. Yeah, I know, I know a lot of

them is when you put the aftermarket parts on and stuff and I was bone stock. So yeah, just doesn't seem very

fair. But that's right.

Chad. What have I done?

I picked up the Tarago last. Hey friends, over an epic.

How was it? It's great.

Yeah, it's sorted. Sorted.

No issues, no overheating. No, it's just doing tired of

things. So what did you speak to the

runner about? I know last week he he was in

hospital for three days. I don't know if you.

I saw I saw he was wearing a sling.

Sling, Yeah. Messed up his arm somehow.

Messed up his finger, one of the springs, it was a spring.

Just went and crushed his finger and he was in hospital for three days. That's the reason my car's still

sitting there. I.

Didn't see your cars there? No.

Not being worked on at the time. No, No.

Yeah, I did see. Yeah.

I asked him and he did say yes. Something happened and I was up

for a few days and. But he, I hope he does get

better soon and gets your cars done.

Yeah. So you had radiator?

Yeah, radiator hoses, thermostat and they bucket load of labour to do all that. It's pretty fiddly, especially

with the long prop shaft at the front of the engine to the radiator with a clutch fan. A lot of messing around but.

Happy with the work there. Yeah, happy with the work, super

clean, like it's like no one's even touched it practically it's there's no, not even any grease marks on them.

I was super happy with them. They were great to deal with and

couldn't recommend them enough. Yeah, yeah, good.

Awesome. So I picked that up and did some

hauling of some pets and some like carpets in here and there.

Just Dorago things. Yeah, just Dorago things, you

know, No, no back seats. So I use it as a van.

Yeah, it was good. I drove it to work a couple of

times. Yeah, I put some a few KS on it,

which was good. So it's been solid.

Yeah, it's been solid. No, no overheating issues or

anything, which is awesome. So that'll they'll go do some

many kilometres in the country and a bit of camping here and there this year. Nice.

What else? I've worked on the Mercedes on

the weekend. That's plugging along somewhat,

you know, Hey. Bit by bit.

Bit by bit, it's getting there. So I had a friend of mine come

over who is sort of like a panel veto, does just like work for himself and you know, helps people out sort of thing.

And yeah, you kind of had a look at it and said you should try like rust treating just the surface rust.

And and we did a little test batch.

I got my wife to get some stuff while she was out of the shop.

So she got some rust. It's just stuff that you paint

on and sort of you let let it like do its thing or whatever the. Cures and.

Yeah, cures and it starts like reacting with the rust on the on the metal. And sure enough, like even after

a little bit of just waiting and reaction time, you just basically use like a whatever 120 or 240 grit and it just comes straight off like just comes off like butter, which was pretty awesome. That's awesome.

So I decided I'm just going to paint the whole cup.

So every part, every part that Bill had no primer and surface rice, I've just slapped that stuff on.

I had a couple of mates come over and help finish that up on the weekend. So that's, that'll get a fair

bit of work done over the Easter holidays because I don't have any plans to do any like anything else.

So I'm just going to plug away on the car and try and like sort of get it as far as possible into, you know, prep stage or even like prime stage. So yeah, that's, that's coming

along. Well of unfortunately I broke

one of the the internal sort of like clips for the tail light as I was taking it out. It's little plastic snapped off

as I was taking it off to. They're pretty easy to get

though. Yeah, yeah, it's still pretty

like common. You get 190 parts, which is

awesome. And what else did I do?

I think that was it. I I ordered some parts of the

Civic. I got a brake master, sorry

brake booster delete kit which just sort of removes that whole big ugly black thing that sits up against the firewall and.

So the benefits to moving that to removing that?

You just get that direct pedal fuel.

It's less spongy. It was supposed to be, I haven't

put it on yet. It just arrived today.

But yeah, it's supposed to be less spongy and you get just better modulation with of the pedal because you have direct contact with the master cylinder itself.

Is that because of the upgraded brakes you've put on?

Is that why? Or is that?

It will be a combination of both things.

Even if I was to do it on just the stock brakes, it would still, you'd still get a better feel of the brakes because you don't have that like air resisted.

Yeah, sort of cushioning. Will it be a harder pedal?

It will. It should be a harder pedal,

yeah, but you get, you can get it to a sweet spot by adjusting the, the like a push rod that yeah, that it comes with and it's got thread on it. So I believe you can adjust it

to the length you want. So you can get as much or as

little travel as you want into the pedal itself.

And then that, yeah, that that's directly connected to the to the master cylinder. So no air assist, but means that

you get a better, yeah, just a better yielding pedal.

So. That will go on probably over

the weekend as well and I'll do a full bleed of the brakes again and assess how the brakes go. Still trying to get my hands on

another master cylinder because the last one I purchased from The Wreckers was not the right one.

It turns out I need like an Ek Civic 1, not an integral one.

OK, so that was somewhat cheap lesson because it wasn't an expensive. So yeah, I need like, yeah, Ek,

any Ek civic about supposedly is what there's a there's 100 things online that you can read all day.

But as, as you know, you've got to sort of figure it out for yourself to see what part you need.

So we'll try and if there are any records open on the weekend, I'll try and get to 1 and pull one out and sort of go with that. And that's it for me.

Been on this week, 3 of my cars are at mechanics.

It's going to be. See I was going to say with the

Maddie update, it's always what's broken Maddie.

Well, nothing's broken, Alan. Everything's just everything was

just needing a bit of love. Yeah, so is.

That what we're calling now needing a bit of love.

Needing a bit of love so I dropped off the laser to get the new gearbox put in. But I get there and as soon as I

saw it right I'm going to sling. I'm like, that's not going to

get done for a while. Yeah.

Feels like it's probably just like you like chop chop boy.

Thank you for nothing get. To work.

No, I saw his finger. His finger was like 3 times the

size of what it should be. I was like, oh, you know, but

you know, he's been good to me. So I was like just, you know,

have the car. I'm on the holidays now.

I'm not driving it every day anyway, so it's fine.

So I'm just driving foresters and fiestas around, which is which is nice. So then the next so then

yesterday I dropped off the MR2 to get the motor pulleye out.

That's getting the remain done. New clutch time, bolt kit, water

pump, just just a big better service.

Just a big birthday really. It's a massive birthday.

But after this it should be should be good.

Also see one of the CV boosters got a got a slight, you know, crack. So I've just got a new one of

those. I'm like, just do it all I could

do it, but I just I don't have a hoist and it's too hard for it just makes it easier just to just to pull it, pull it up like basically stuff easy. Like I've serviced that car.

I was the last person to service that car, but it was it wasn't hard, but the yeah, to pull out, to pull out the motor to do the rear main and stuff. I'm just like, you know what,

every time I'm getting to a satellite, I can just smell burning oil as the as the oil, you know, goes and exhaust.

I'm like, it's just it's bound to catch fire at this point.

So I'm just and everybody knows me with fire that you.

Don't know much luck. Don't know much luck with that.

Rob, who should be coming in a little bit, calls me Damien for that reason. So yeah, I'm trying to negate

all possible, all possibilities. But when I was there and I was

having a chat with to to one of the mechanics, Liam, who's, he actually went to school with my sister.

Not a really nice guy and he's a bit of a JDM kind of guru.

And he was like, to me, I was explaining to him the speedo's always been off and runners adjusted it and cleaned it and put it back in and, and it's it's better.

But the Speedo has always just been like if you're sitting at 100 on the dash, you're doing 80.

So you need to be doing 120 to be actually doing 100 KS an hour. And the tyre size is right

everything. And I think I think it's just

the gearbox, just like the probably the gears inside, like the, you know, the Speedo Dr gears are a bit bit hay on or it could be in the back of the dash.

So I'm like, you know, what are, what are really my options?

And you know, it's taking about the class doing this, doing that, he's like, look, it's not kind of really worth it.

I had to, to get to do it. So I was like, screw it.

I went online and I bought a, bought an Etsy and bought a original Game Boy, but the G, the G, the GPS, you know, Speedo radio. So I ordered one of those in

white because the car's white to, to make a match in.

So I've ordered, I've ordered one of those and I'm like, at least it'll be accurate and it'll be kind of cool because it'll fit in with the period. Yeah.

Yeah. The original Game Boy was 89 and

the car's 88. So I was like, you know, I was

gonna put a Game Boy colour in there, but I was like, yeah, it does. This doesn't work.

That's like. 9090. 9899, Yeah. So I was like, I'll buy one of

those. So I ordered one of those and

I'm giving that car a big birthday, but at least after this I can drive it more because, like, it was haemorrhaging oil. Yeah, and the, the place that

we're staying at, I've got to go clean it.

Actually, I'm like to, to the lady.

She she's a good work colleague of mine.

Hey, Mary, how you doing? She's like, you know, parking

here. I've got, she's got a spare

garage space. And Steph and I dropped off the

car and Steph's like, we've got to put some carbon under it.

I'm like, yeah, I know. So I put carbon under it and I'm

like, yeah, that looks about right.

I've got to move the car to take it the other day on Sunday night and where the cardboard was, it missed it by a bee's Dick.

And it's. It's just, it's quite the edge

of the cardboard is where the the the drip was overwhelming.

Yeah, like really. So, yeah, that'll be that'll be

fun to clean. See it.

So that'll be hopefully I can pick that up tomorrow and have my wallet drained even more. What else, What else we're

doing? I'm going to to drive the

typhoon tomorrow, give give it a nice wash and clean and then I'm planning going to the records on Thursday.

So is that? A GLXR bumper is the same as the

So I'm going to pull out, get the grill because mine's got a mad, you know, F off stone ship on it and I think you've seen it. There's just like, yeah, yeah,

I'm. Understanding that that's bad

so. Get that and then paint that up

and then I've got to take this seat belt in once I get the car back to a place and I think it's Bayswater that everyone talks about this, this place that David's talked about and it was Scott's been there the other day, 01 of the guys that super show at work, he got his seat belt done and they do it in half an hour. Just take it home and then they

redo the seat belt. It's just fried.

But I've cleaned it up, cut it and used it.

I've done, I've done the old, the dodgy.

The old. Dodgy would double, I could

play. Special Yeah, connected.

With the lighter and just just see the edges, but it keeps fraying and I think it'd be it's at this point I'm just I'll get it done properly and you're not you're.

Not allowed to use seatbelts at a wrecked cars right?

Well. Some wreck is allowed, some

don't, and, and all the ones I've seen there'll be how you're going anyway. Yeah, probably.

Frayed correct? Yeah.

But again, being an SR2 specific, which is just everything on this car is that like that all you know that specific the the buck was black, the hold is black.

It's all it's all specific to that car, whereas the Gaelic size all grey. Yeah, the.

Generic. Generic ones, yeah.

Yeah. So I'm like, you know what,

I'll, I'll just go take it and get it, get it done.

Condition instead of correct, Yeah, one that's good in second hand 100%. Yeah, 100%.

So, so I'm going to do that. I'm going to get a new

windshield for it. And because it's it's got a few

chips and I know, I know, I know it won't pass Roadworthy with that. Oh yeah.

Of course, for the club racing, yeah, so.

And that should be it because like when I have a head up on The Voice I icing for a roadworthy check, he's like, it's fine. He's like, he's like he's needed

his seat belt and your windshield.

He's he's he's like they, they won't pass that.

That's but that's just that just shows like you do when you do constant maintenance over the years, like, you know, new sharks, it pays off new bushes. He's like, look, just those two

things and you're, you're pretty good.

So that'll that'll get me through.

So I'll go do those things and then I should have a roadworthy car by. Early.

Next year and then I think it's just May this time next year it'll be on, it'll be on a club plate.

So should be good. Should be good because I can,

you know, give it the retirement it needs.

Even though it's driving, besides the gearbox, the best it's ever driven. The engine feels strong and

you'll have to have a drive now that the motors run in it.

It's really pulls in the top end and yeah, right.

Yeah, I was like, this is how it should have been from the get go. Yeah.

So but yeah, that's that's those.

What else have? I got the update with the scam

still. Waiting no one wants to touch it

with the exhaust like nobody wants to touch it.

So I took it on a remember that they got picked up yeah.

So Chad was the other day you dropped off your Rago and then my scam got picked up on the on the tow truck.

Yeah, yeah, and it got taken to a place for any freeze.

I won't name names because I'm just I'm I'm at this point, I'm kind of pissed off. So it you get to go to the

exhaust place. They they didn't even take it

off the trailer off the back of the of the trailer had a look like, no, we're not touching it. And then let's see you later.

So then it came like it came by the time we got back to to runners when you dropped me off after after we went back, it was there already. I was like, what's it doing

here? He's like, they didn't want to

touch it. I'm like what the hell?

So I'm like. People turning away work.

It's not that hard. It's just a piece of pipe.

Just it's, there's no, there's no muffles or anything.

It's quite literally a car from the, you know, base in the 60s.

But they didn't. Provide a reason as to why they

so and the. And the the but here's the

thing, though, right, like the the rotor worthy place that that signed it off originally because it was signed off for a rotor.

He was like, Yep, good, change their mind.

They're like, Oh no, we don't really want to doing it because it because it got a bit too much service, but but the exhaust is solid. So that's just it's kind of

throwing me off, you know, throwing me off for a little bit. So it's made me a bit annoyed,

but it is it is what it is. So I was I was very annoyed.

I just, I just want it on the road in my name and that's.

All it's stopping it's pretty much.

It's running, it's driving, it's stopping.

The brakes are fixed. You know, I'm just why?

Why, you know? And I feel bad for right now

because he's like, he's been here a long time and he's like, I feel like I've let you down. I'm like, you haven't.

It's just everyone else around around.

Buy a a mig welder or something and maybe you know, just.

Get some pipe and. Do it myself at this point.

up is because I'm going to talk about your car place in a second because before we talk about the the topic of the show, but you're wanting to upgrade. But again, I'm I'm saying to

him, he needs to keep the territory at this point.

Like you know, it's and I know it's still a while from from club plates, but just put it away in the garage.

You can we can fix up the bodywork.

It's. You you don't have to convince

me, you already know this. The problem is it's the other

half that you have to convince. I will I.

I'll just get Chad. To go there just with just arms

before, it's not not the sort of thing that I'm in a position to to upgrade, but it's definitely something which would be nice to have something a little bit more modern these days and be more creature comforts. But at the same time I I have no

desire really to get rid of the territory because.

When else you're going. To come up with, well, let's be

honest, don't get me wrong with drinks like a fish and and all that, but it's also a workhorse. So I mean that's, that's also

the purpose of it too. And it's been.

And it's been completely faultless since you've owned it.

Really. Like, it's been great.

Yeah, I didn't even. Ask you the bushes, because they

were done when I bought the car at 150.

Yeah. So now I'm at 210 and it's still

fine. I mean, the only thing that went

on it was, I'm pretty sure one of the water pump at the back of the water pump. That was the only thing or the

only issue that I've had with the car, yeah.

That's been. So.

No complaints on standard territory life.

It just keeps going. Yeah.

Man, don't. Get me wrong, I'm pretty sure

I've got a remain seal which is Falcon things.

Which is, which is Falcon things.

Exactly. Exactly.

And you just do the standard thing.

We're like, yeah, yeah. Until it really becomes a

problem. I just I.

Guess one of the things you sell the car with is yes.

Yes. It's an option.

It's an. Optional issue.

Look, it's not really optional, it's just an extra.

It's one of those things I'm like, I'd be worried if the remains wasn't leaking because like, So what did you have to do to, you know? Have to get the gearbox

offering. What did you put?

In this as a stock leash. And so you.

Can see it actively leaking Yeah if.

It's just a. It's yeah.

Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, I'm pretty sure I've

got either the timing case, I think my mechanic mentioned that to me last time. The department case seal is

starting to go, which again, not a big deal.

You know, if that's the extent of things that you know, your time in case seal, just get that redone and you're fine.

Then you'll laugh and steal regardless.

When? That's other than just paying

for a service. That's all the maintenance.

That's yeah, 100. Percent territory territory,

100% territory life. It's you know, it's one of those

things where, you know, Anthony, if you're selling it, you just you just get out the silicon and like the corking gun, just a silicon underneath everything RTVRTVRTV and, and just.

Make sure you get the good silver paint so it looks like it's a Weld freshly. Welded.

Freshly. Repaired exactly, exactly.

But no, no, no, we on on Friday we had a had a bit of a discussion about potential potential upgrades and potential changes of cars and see what you like to think about these.

Obviously they are still very difficult me.

So they're going to be a bit left field.

But I still want something because my other half's got in Everest. So really I don't need anything

huge. Still wants to be fast, still

wants to be fun, reasonably economical.

But I mean, my bath economy is set very low when I'm averaging 18. So, you know, we'll sort of see

how we go with that. But I still want to, you know,

potentially not that it happens that often these days, but, you know, if I need to Chuck a ladder in the car, you can still do that or have the option for roof racks for, you know, occasional things of chucking a PowerPoint at some nice places or something like that. So.

The three we'll go with four options at the moment.

One of them is in the big categories of cars, which is a, oh, let's even say 2018 ranges, so first generation XC90 in the T8 variant. So.

This is this is an interesting 1 so twin charge plug in hybrid.

They're quite close. That's what I've seen, yeah.

For. Those who are not aware, so

they're 5.1 seconds to 100 out of it.

Wow. Yeah, OK.

And. The interesting part behind it

is the economy on it is like 2.1 litres per hundred.

That's. Incredible.

Yeah, because. Obviously, again, you do have

the twin charged. Twin.

Charged hybrid, so turbo supercharged 4 cylinder 2 litre and electric. So you do have lots of moving

parts though, and this is also the first generation of Volvo in a plug in hybrid. So that is the catch of the

matter to then also go in with all of the moving parts of everything going on there. So probably, probably valid to

sort of put in there is obviously the range that I'm sort of looking at well for ideally with eight upgrade, which between sort of 40 and 50 marks.

So you do get a lot of bang for buck in that and there's a couple of which have popped up which have had you know 60 or 70 or 80,000 KS on at this sort of mark with the KS on them.

But they are not the most common car obviously.

So that's that's option one. What year are these?

Terry So. The from the 2016 up to I think

it's 2021, they do OK. OK, so they're still in the

newer generation, but obviously the.

Not the most. Recent from the previous, yeah,

yeah, pre facelift, yeah. So the the most recent

generation ones. They're in the.

I think they're called the PHEV. So they are now the constant EV

situation of things. So the non plug in hybrid

versions, that's what Volvo is sort of rolled with now.

So yeah, that's that's option one.

Option 2, well, we'll even go two and three because they are the same platform and basically the same sort of car, but just slight difference in body work. Again, don't hate me, but Mini

So you do have that benefit and I think economy wise they're floating at around, you know, your 7 to 8 mark.

So you know, it's still reasonable all things considered. But obviously it's not a hybrid

or an EV or anything else like that and you are just basically to kind of a turbocharged 4 cylinder.

But you do have a lot of the uniqueness and and funkiness that the minions do have. Yep.

And again, there's a couple of different ones that just sort of popped up and they're on the yeah, I've seen a couple that are like 35 to 36 Kmart with I think there's one that I kept an eye out of the no the Clubman in a in a dark blue that's got 68,000 KS on it that's 38 grand. So.

Bang. For your buck that you're

getting out of it is definitely a lot less than.

A lot. Lot.

Less than the way of cost compared to XC9, they've seen around that sort of 50 mark. Obviously the the countrymen

starts to pick up a little bit more, but again you can get them closer to the 40K. Now.

The third option, which is embracing full beamer, is AX3M40 IB. 58 now. Exactly that.

So for those that are familiar with the engines or the Mac or the details of it's B 58, so you are looking at a inline 6 turbocharged engine, which is the same engine in the current generation Superits, yeah. Oh wow, Super Z4.

Yeah, it's a good engine, generally.

A good engine, yeah. So I guess the trade off in, I

guess the thought process of this one is obviously it's a little bit bigger than the Minis, a little bit smaller than the XC. You still have an inline 6.

You know, you still, that's at least one thing.

I will say that beamers are actually pretty, pretty solid is their inline sixes. And you know, you're not messing

around with the eights, but I mean, you're still going with the BMW electrics, which is always sort of a given.

But but again, yeah, that's the trade off of things now economy getting out of this one here, I think it's close to about 10 litres ish around that sort of range, which is still not too bad. All wheel drive, all the other

sorts of, you know, mod cons and preach comforts.

Obviously a bit higher in the price range.

I think there's one which is over in WA that's got 58,000 KS of 2019. So that's the previous

generation, I guess you'd sort of say at about 52 grand in WA.

This one that I see, unfortunately it seems like it sold last night, which was a 2020, which is the more recent info statement system and everything like that.

That had competition seats in it, but was still the X3.

And that was at 58 roughly. But the only important factors

which we all really care about is going to be 0 at 100, which is 4 1/2 seconds. Yeah, that's a.

Hell of a girl, yeah. So I began them.

And so I was just like getting onto the freeway on ramp and there was a BMW like technician, like a dealer technician car and it was an X3M40I and it was a couple of cars up front on the next lane and he punched it. He punched it and I'm like, man,

are severely under underrated in terms of their power output from factory. Like they make a they make a lot

more than what they say they do. Yeah, they can.

So, but like, you know, like they say 0400 or whatever horsepower they're they're really realistically closer to 500 or more. You know, they're it's a big

jump. So yeah, so all right, let's

let's talk about so you got Clubman, JCW or countryman all all four. That's that's the 1.6 turbo

right? Well, the two, two. 22 litre

turbo, 2 little turbo. We've got the B58 powered X3M40I

and we've got the Volvo XC90 twin charge hybrid plug in.

Hybrid, yeah, plug in. Oh.

Gentlemen, your thoughts, they're all.

Similar cars, but I mean it's a little bit different.

Right, similar, different like. Different leads, yeah, And

again, they. All have the ability, and again,

until you're actually in them and seeing them or whatnot, you know? To work out the practicality of

These are obviously just all off of actually just thinking about them and and starting and seeing what prices sort of go for it.

But they all seem like they would do the job in the way of, you know, being able to have the ladder on the inside or a roof rack set up of some sort of variant while still being able to have, you know, it's basically the little one.

I'd be able to still Chuck a pram in there if need be.

So it's that smaller for three of them while still being practical. Obviously the 4th 1 is.

concern, but you know, things add up over time.

It is a factor. The only again and this is the

the sort of the trade off of that is that we are adding so many more moving parts given with a twin charge and then plug in hybrid, yeah. Where it's.

All good when things are running, but given it's a first generation car, the Volvo is done in a plug in hybrid.

That's the part of a little bit, yeah, a little bit weary.

Of my money. 'S on the X3.

As long as you've got a good mechanic that'll look after you, you. Know.

On the back end, that's always. The catch, always got to do

that. Now look, this one is again

adding just a not a spanner in the works for cars itself, but more I guess it's a consideration.

So free work I can do novated leasing which is all pre tax and that obviously includes your servicing in there, your roadside, your tyres, your rego. Your.

Insurance, everything else like that, that all does get packaged up. So we're obviously, again,

something to consider and something I'll sort of start looking into and sort of sussing out a little bit more, but that might be a consideration. Then at least you know that the

servicing and everything's all factored into it to try and balance it all out, and it will be looked up in that way, yeah.

Trade. Trade off in doing that one

there is it at the end of you know where at least you normally have a balloon. That is, if you choose.

To keep the car or with you. You know.

Go and move it on or whatever it might be.

I think a rough ballpark. If I was to do AI, think it was

a 50. I think I did a roughly on a

$50,000 car just through the calculator.

Obviously so many different factors do sort of chop and change on things. I think it works out today.

That is, is that you're not buying a car right there and then, you're leasing in its entirety.

I feel like if you could sort out novated leasing and get a package where it's, it covered, covers, you know, pretty much everything you you'll, you would be spending on the cars if you owned it, which I think most leasing companies do.

I would say the BMW would be the guy, I reckon.

I mean, do you get the performance, you get the space, you get, you can do the the roof rack system if that's sort of like if you wanted to hold stuff and but I think I feel like that would be sort of the better choice out of those.

But I think and and with the minis, I just hear too many horror stories and I I just wouldn't.

Generations of minis? No, even even the new.

Ones even the new ones too, like they're like, but some people have had haven't, haven't never have had an issue.

So, but for me, I know the B 58 is a solid car.

Toyota wouldn't have chosen to use AB 58 if it wasn't solid.

From all accounts, it's it's quite literally the it's BM WS version of version of A2J. So you can, if, if you want to

play with it, have a bit of a tune and do things.

It's that they do take well to that.

You're still going to get Beamer, Beamer things like your cooling systems, which will blow up every bazillion case or you know, or what have you. But out of all those ones, I'd

probably say it's the best drive.

And it'd be the, it'd be definitely the most powerful out of out of all of them, but it'd be the best, It'd be the because you, you, you like a car, you can drive, you can drive.

And it's, it's more that it's the driver's car inverter comma's choice. Now, I, I probably would lean

towards something, you know, like like AGV or, or something like that. But if out of those choices and,

and then and we have to, we have to pick I'm, I'm all aboard the, the X3, you know, M40I because I, you know, I think that I think that's a solid, I think it's solid from all accounts.

It's a, it's a pretty solid choice.

So that's where I'd be, Anthony. That's where I'd be, yeah.

No, I think I'm probably more again current standing of things and obviously not in position to do it.

But I think that's at the moment probably the most.

I don't know. I almost feel the most

comfortable with the reliability side, the things of the four options, given that it's in a Toyota and a Toyota base.

that, obviously I'd be a bit more hesitant.

The figures you sort of look at and cost on things out of curiosity, which they're saying roughly quote unquote stage 1 and there's some this particular one saying 91 octane. 93 and

these 30, that's going to be obviously a bit more in the state. Situation, but an 18% horsepower

and 26% pork increase. Yeah.

For a stage one, that's like 900 bucks, yeah.

And as I said, it's a very tunable platform and from all accounts, they're quite they're quite good send into quite a solid, quite a solid platform. So that's probably where I would

where I would be leaning. Get on to our last quick couple

sure you actually get to your destination.

I would sooner be looking at practicality and reliability over aesthetics, yeah. Especially for your first car,

like, you know, Italian cars are known to have electrical gremlins and cooling gremlins and this and that.

From all accounts, they're better, but I don't think it's that much better to, to take and over, you know, your, your competition like a Mazda 3 or a because like, you know, Juliet has a hatchback, right? It's, it's a Mazda 3 size

hatchback, Corolla hatchback. Now, I probably wouldn't go with

Corolla because I want something a bit more fun to drive.

And if that's what you're looking for for a Juliet, you know, Corolla is definitely not going to fit that bill.

Mazda 3's there's probably the driver's choice out of out of those. I mean, they're not perfect, but

you can definitely get something for that money.

I'm assuming it'd be either like you'd probably want options for an order at a manual being Julieta.

So I'm trying to think one of the hatchbacks you can get that got both that's still good to drive sub 10.

K is the harder because alphas do depreciate a fair bit.

Unfortunately, they do, you know, they're pricing, but especially when they're like two or three owners date.

Yeah, so it's hard to compare like I think the other cars in the similar league are like a GTI.

Yeah, AI don't know, maybe a Swift turbo or something.

I think a Swift Sport. Would be cool.

better retention like retention, but also, you know, you might not be able to get that for the price that you're looking to be out of four. So my my.

know, persons also see a little price sensitive on that situation and getting into a car that, you know, repair is going to be costly just in terms of part cost.

Japanese, even if you say they end up getting it for 12 or 13, the reliability you have in terms of what you pay on maintenance, that sort of thing will probably end up balancing out, yeah. Yeah, well, well, here's the

thing too, right? Like, you know, European cars,

if you they always say if you can't afford to buy like a European car new, you won't be able to afford one second hand because because you know, and service it, because the parts and stuff will, you know, still come with that inverted commas prestige. I'm with you, Alomar.

I think, I think, you know, if you could stretch it a little bit, you could probably get like a like a really nice Japanese or, you know, I wouldn't say I wouldn't say an I30 because they're having those recalls at the moment for the engines and I would have said I30 all day long.

It's it's it's my pick, but they're having those issues.

So just maybe not maybe hanging back on I30, but I think it's Swift Sport. It's a little bit smaller

though, because like because you know, the Giuliana is a bigger sized hatch because it's more like a focus size hatch, to be honest. Focus Mazda 3, man, yeah, So

Swift Sport would be a crack because you can get it both as an auto as A and as a manual. But if you're wanting something

that that bigger in size, you have Mazda 3 Corolla.

Again, not not the driver's choice, but definitely Mazda 3.

category of almost like your Corolla and whatnot too.

little bit bigger than the festi and whatnot, but that's again, not a terrible option to be honest.

If you could pick one up. And this is going to go back to

the Japanese reliability things and you know, obviously a little bit older, but very clirky if you get yourself a Mitsubishi to be honest. So.

Yeah, you kind of devils that anything.

That's an A Mitsubishi cult, yeah.

If if you can. Get yourself the the VRX then

you're then you're winning. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

But yeah, I think that's, to be honest, if you're looking for probably the a bit more practical in size, you probably best bet is going to be the master freeway.

At least have a little bit more aesthetics behind it, and you've still got at least a usable size that you can do your.

They they drive pretty well. They're they're pretty cool.

They're pretty rare you know, like you don't really see them often. But in terms of the negatives

here and I hate to say it, Alfa Romeo comes with yeah, it's Italian, yeah, and it comes with Alfa Romeo issues and part supplies and and that they weren't so many of them sold so parts to to get will be be a little bit more of a of an issue. Yeah, I I don't know, man, I'm

CJ Lance so with evo 10 front bump, evo 10 rear bump evo 10 spoiler the VLAN headlights. You know it is.

The P plate is sweat dream. Or you could just get, you know,

save your money, get CJ Lance that hasn't been riced out and you still have a nice car. There's also the.

Hyundai Ascent or Accent or whatever you want to say, like the like, you know, the last generation, they're quite they're quite affordable and they're pretty solid mechanically, Yeah. You know what?

incredible. Amount.

Geez, there's a lot of. Car and you know you get.

Recaros you get 6 speed you get modern, you know modcons dual zone. Climate.

Dual zone climate. A lot like a fair bit and this

is a proper hot hatch. So that that would be sort of

what I would lean towards if I was again, it's a it's a price thing and you you're going to be putting like maybe 3 or 4 grand on what you've got, but it might mean that it lasts you another 50,000 K more the problem and also hold us.

Value probably a bit better too. Would probably hold its.

Value because it's got the SD barge and it's you know it's known for being a fun sort of car yeah I don't know what the reliability of those good boards are yeah they they're good they're. Actually really good.

I remember driving them brand new.

I test drive on brand new and I and I always pull the trigger on one. That was a, that was a long time

ago. It was 2013.

But yeah, from all accounts, they're pretty good.

If you modify them and stuff, they, they do get issues.

They, you know, they people just put £1,000,000 of boost them and then their heads and then their heads lift.

Oh, the head goes goofy. Mccullough's crap.

No, it's because you put 400 lbs of boost in it and expected it to hold together. Give us health together.

Once. For for one pull it lasted.

They're they're pretty good, like they're actually genuinely pretty good. And you know, if if it was sub

10K, that'd be my pick all day. XL fives.

You know, I saw I sub 10 Ki think now, but they're but they're they're all thrashed to like yeah, to find a good one that's that's had a good life. You know that hasn't a crackle

and pop tune put on it and then sold and you're moving.

Into light block Volvo territory, correct Volvo block and they they can be problematic especially with like external like so not external accessory based things like PCV valve issues and blown by and it can get ugly like it's yeah, it's a pretty it's a it could be an ugly thing to go down like one of those ugly holes. It's an enthusiast.

Car. If you want it.

If you want it, you need to. You need to know, maintain and

to love it. Only one that I wouldn't

recommend normally, but I actually think they're quite good value 2017 holding marinas. But the actual like these are

the Korean based ones that that that that were the day they were the lot of Carlos or Carlos, whatever they want.

Oh yeah. They're like the the real light

ones and they they they present good value and they from all accounts, we get an Rs one of those they're actually called actually they're subtending. You can locate they're they're

greater. They're actually not bad to

drive and they're they're quite reliable.

So I think that that's another good option, Turbo.

Version called. Do you have a fun version of the

Rs? It was the.

Rs Yeah, if you if you swing one of those, but under under 10 that that'd be that'd be a cool buy.

Keep a Kantos again, a bit small.

If you off to the other side I would have said keep a Kantos is a is a is a is a next size down to cracking little car.

actually not terrible they they have is still European esque, still a little bit European reliability, but if you can pick up even a McGann are not terrible.

They're, you know, just talking about the two litre 4 cylinder basic ones for reliability is better than the alpha I'd be saying and. The only other the Nissan

crossover, yeah, CVT. Yeah, the Extronic boxes,

they're not great. I don't know if you.

I'm sure McGann had that. There was probably an automatic

conversion of a McGann that had that gearbox in them.

And this and crossover. But yeah, and then once you.

Go to the Magana still. The Clio is also still in that

category too. But then.

He's still getting. Frenchiness, which is, which is

like. That's the.

Dangerous part too, but I mean, I don't know, like I, I, I admittedly like if you're talking a Magana Rs or something. Oh, absolutely.

It's a it's a completely different bracket of things of things obviously, but that would be something I would consider, you know, and have considered for for cars in most of the time like I like. I actually, I like French cars,

believe me. Like I actually kind of have a

soft spot for them. Well, what my issue is though,

is like for people that like aren't enthusiasts or that or that they buy them and then they fall apart.

Like, you know, Rob's, Rob's daughter bought a brand new Renault Capita. It wasn't even 10 years old and

it was mounted like the service religiously at the dealership.

And it didn't even make 200,000 cases fell, it fell apart.

Even though it was serviced and on the dot after.

Really. Yeah.

So it's it's it just it's just personifies that those cars quality in it and. Basically I think similar.

They share a lot of things. Kia Rio 2017 Kia Rio 1.4 litre.

So, so you don't have the you don't have the issues with the the two litre using your and you know, all the oil out of the engine. They're they're that's quite a

good thing. Here's 1 though, that I wouldn't

They're kind of in a bit of no man's land, but they're, they're kind of a, you know, they're a good value proposition low case.

engine actually so so so that's an option for you.

These are these are all options that that you can get that would, you know, kind of kind of work.

I mean, maybe. The Yaris of these similar

years. Yaris, Yeah.

I mean Yaris is obvious choice, but again it's a bit small.
