So let's get stuck in.
01:46
There I was scrolling my phone when someone cracked open a Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus.
01:59
I grabbed my own and took a sip.
02:01
Next thing I know, I heard a rip. My friend tried the splits and skinny jeans.
02:06
The crew couldn't stop laughing. But hey, not a drop of Baja Cabo Citrus was spilled.
02:11
Have a blast with Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus, a punch of tropical citrus flavor.

02:53
Next, we have the BMW iX3 finally driven the embargo lifted on December the 4th.
02:59
The link to the review is in the description.
03:02
Nearly 10,000 views at this stage, so lots of people interested in it and it does not disappoint.
03:07
We have seen a lot of the specs with regards to the charging, 800 volts, etc.
03:11
We saw the Panoramic iDrive at CES Las Vegas.
03:15
It has been a very much a teased electric vehicle, but the driving of it,
03:19
the heart of joy is the computer that looks after it.
03:23
One of its four supercomputers, I believe in tightness.
03:26
And they brought us to the Ascari race track and very confident when a company brings you to a race track.
03:34
We did a 5.4 meter kilometer circuit, so it got up some good speeds.
03:39
We also did some slaloms.
03:41
We also did some emergency braking and then lane changing so you could feel the real stability of the vehicle.
03:47
It was in sport mode.
03:49
The efficiency was not something that you needed to look at at the end.
03:52
I think it might have been the only one that asked because we were towards the end of the press rotation.
03:56
And I asked one of the BMW people, I said, how do I see my efficiency after the drive?
04:01
And he was like, oh, let me check this out.
04:03
But the efficiency after the Ascari race track was 44.4 kilowatt hour per 100 kilometers.
04:10
So lots of heavy shoes.
04:11
Now, when I was out driving, I was getting around about 17.7 kilowatt hour per 100 kilometers.
04:18
So for a large SUV with a 108 kilowatt hour battery, I was very impressed with that.
04:25
And we also got the opportunity to do the hands off level two plus highway autonomous driving.
04:32
And Serene to take her hands off the steering wheel and not to be asked to even just jiggle it a little bit.
04:39
It was, yeah, and I show you in the video what it looks like.
04:43
Also, it does a automatic lane change by just looking at the wing mirrors, side mirrors.
04:50
And if you see that it's clear, obviously, you're not going to tell it not to continue the manoeuvre.
04:55
But yeah, covered all in the video.
04:57
Very good, very impressed.
05:00
A firm ride, but a fair ride.
05:02
I'm actually writing about it in the Irish Daily Star today, if you've picked it up already.
05:07
If you're in listening to this on the day of release, Tuesday the 9th of December,
05:11
pick up a copy of the Irish Daily Star.
05:13
I'll be talking about driving the all new BMW iX3.
05:16
Or if you want to see a video, it is linked in the description.
05:20
It's already up on the YouTube channel.
05:22
As mentioned, we also got a chance to talk to the project lead for the BMW Neue Klasse iX3, Mark Berger.
05:29
So let's dive straight into that interview with Mark now.
05:32
We are here sitting beside a beautiful sunny coastline in the south of Spain.
05:36
And Mark, can you give me your name and title, please?
05:39
Yes, I'm Mark Berger.
05:41
I'm the product manager for the BMW iX3.
05:44
I was asking you about other BMW models last night and you're like,
05:47
that is nothing to do with me. I'm only here for iX3.
05:52
We're looking out on a beautiful iX3 here.
05:54
So we may start with the exterior Neue Klasse.
05:58
We've heard a lot of this name, but when you look at the front of the iX3,
06:02
you can see the new shapes of the kidney grille.
06:04
And that's harking back to the Neue Klasse from the 1960s.
06:10
So what the designers were referring to when we thought of the new car
06:16
because the Neue Klasse was a big milestone back then
06:19
and with all the new innovations and tech that we now put into our new Neue Klasse.
06:26
They thought it's a very good reference point
06:29
and that's why some key elements from the past like the shark nose front,
06:35
the rather upright kidneys in the front are now found their way onto the face
06:43
and to the front of the new car.
06:45
But since we are 2025, technology has moved on.
06:50
So instead of chrome, we now use light to highlight the core of our BMW kidney
06:58
and also it is able to welcome you.
07:02
So yeah, that has moved on and this is really the key highlight,
07:06
I would say, of when you approach the vehicle is the new front.
07:09
I didn't realize I was going to interview and mark on the podcast on Tuesday
07:12
when I arrived and you were looking after I was showing around the car
07:16
and staying with the kidney grille, the M Sport Pro pack has a darker lens
07:21
and so it is even to the naked eye without the lights being on.
07:24
It's a slightly different look. It's a bit more...
07:27
Yes, so we do have different designs.
07:32
So we've got three models in total which would be the standard model as we say
07:38
as the base car that has these acrylic see-through kidneys
07:47
and then you can choose the M Sport package
07:54
which gives it complete different bumpers, front, side and rear
07:59
all colored in other body color or black high gloss.
08:03
And then if you then go for the M Sport Pro package
08:08
you get even some more black highlights in the outside like black mirror caps
08:13
and like you said, yes, the kidney then is not a glass like translucent.
08:19
It's not translucent. It's like tinted, very dark.
08:23
So that's why we say it's like a shadow line kidney
08:27
and when the lights are turned off it looks completely black high gloss
08:32
but when the kidneys are turned on and the lights are on
08:36
then you still see the illuminated kidney.
08:39
So it's a very nice effect and so we could carry over
08:42
some of our key differentiation elements from our cars that we have
08:48
where you can also opt for chrome kidneys or black high gloss kidneys
08:52
and we could carry that over even to our new Neuer-class models.
08:56
The iX3 SUV, but drag coefficient is phenomenal.
09:00
They've really done a great job in the aero, that side of the business
09:04
because range is of huge importance.
09:06
Yes, so proportion-wise we did achieve 0.24 of a CG coefficient
09:15
which is for a car of this size, very good.
09:19
So keep in mind the front is still very SUV-like, very high.
09:24
So this was also very important to us that the proportions of the car
09:29
must represent a SUV and then people are looking for this
09:36
for a higher front, for an impressive look so to speak,
09:41
higher seating and all of that.
09:44
And yes, this we could achieve and also I think what is very good
09:50
is that no matter if you have the base vehicle or an M-Sport package
09:54
the drag coefficient of the body itself stays the same.
09:58
So even though the M-Sport package is a bit wider
10:02
we do have these air curtains that help to compensate for the loss
10:08
that we have on other parts.
10:11
What is also a nice effect to achieve this low drag coefficient
10:16
is when you look at the rear, over the rear wheel
10:19
we do have a very nice shoulder line between the rear and the greenhouse of the vehicle.
10:28
So when you sit inside, look in the rear view mirror
10:30
you really see a nice shoulder there.
10:33
And that also helps.
10:34
This is actually a very important part of the vehicle to help reduce drag
10:39
together also we've got these arrow blades on the rear windows.
10:44
So the air can cut off.
10:46
Moving down to the wheels then we've got a choice of 20s to 22s
10:49
depending on trim and so large wheels but again arrow optimized.
10:52
Exactly, on each size so we start with 20 inch wheels
10:58
we do have two designs, we have open stylings and arrow stylings
11:04
and same is true for the 21 inch and for the 22 inch wheels.
11:09
So there is obviously the arrow wheels do have an advantage of 10 to 15 kilometers WLTP
11:17
but they ask the customer say hey this car has such a good range
11:22
and I for example want to show my blue or red M-Sport brakes
11:28
and the appearance you see them obviously more when you have the open wheels
11:33
so yeah so we offer both for the customer.
11:35
Speaking of range it's probably the biggest talking point at ERA
11:39
when you were looking to be at the launch of it and over 800 kilometers WLTP.
11:45
Yeah, yes so I mean how can I say that that was a target
11:52
we had in mind from the beginning
11:56
because we think in order to offer the people a product
12:03
to make the transition from a petrol car to an electric car
12:07
you mustn't compromise on range and you mustn't compromise on charging
12:11
and those were the two factors where all our studies and research show
12:15
that this is the drawback for customers to switch
12:20
and yeah so thanks to our new battery pack with the round cells of the 6th generation
12:28
we can put in a mid-sized SUV like we said
12:33
we can put over 100 kilowatt hours of energy into the battery
12:39
so 108 usable for the customer
12:42
and that together with the efficiency with the low drag coefficient
12:46
but also the other systems the low the energy consumption
12:50
even the lights yeah every component in the high-five system
12:54
the headlights or the air-con yeah every component got an energy target
12:59
even the charging components
13:02
because that also the efficiency of the charging onboard charger accounts
13:06
for the range yeah so to create a package a complete package
13:12
that then yeah gives us this fantastic range over 800 kilometers
13:16
and the UK colleagues then said ah will it be 801 or 802 or 803
13:22
because it wouldn't be like the UK colleagues to be
13:25
because they wanted to see the 500 and yeah so we had to wait for the last
13:30
a minute until we got the official confirmation
13:37
from the KBA after the testing and it turned out to be 805
13:43
yeah our target was above 800
13:46
then the rest if it's 801 we had to see
13:49
yeah it was 805 and luckily that's 500 miles so also
13:53
everybody happy British colleagues yeah
13:56
and I'm not sure in Ireland you also probably kilometers
13:59
oh you're kilometers okay good
14:02
and having a good big battery and range is good
14:04
but the ability to fast charge it so the first time 800 volt on a BMW
14:09
yes yeah so new new architecture with 800 volt technology
14:16
that's right we're the first car and this enables really fast charging
14:21
was 400 kilowatts maximum
14:24
and yeah together again there was efficiency
14:28
that's over 370 kilometers of range in 10 minutes
14:34
and yeah to charge 10 to 80 in just 21 minutes
14:39
but this is also you have to keep in relation
14:43
because this battery is over 100 kilowatt hours big
14:47
yeah 10 to 80 percent that is a lot of energy
14:50
so in these 21 minutes
14:53
you have a lot of energy coming
14:56
and yeah I think it's also then the convenience
14:59
like if you have this kind of size of the battery
15:02
you can plan your charging stops more conveniently
15:07
or you get along with just charging at home
15:09
if you have an AC charger at home
15:12
and yeah so yeah that's really
15:16
it is really a very well figure
15:19
and we believe it will convince customers to do the step
15:28
the big battery hasn't impinged on the practicality as well
15:32
so a really good size boot
15:34
not the first time we have a front storage area
15:37
technically the original i3 had a storage area but
15:41
550 liters sorry 520 liters
15:44
the ability to tow up to 2,000 kgs
15:50
58 liter yeah storage compartment in the front exactly
15:54
yeah so I think what you can also see is
15:59
the new technology allowed us to have a really slim battery pack
16:03
and this is what helps us keep the proportions right
16:08
and give us room in the vehicle
16:11
so it's a new concept we've got a cell to pack
16:15
and then so the round cells are put into the battery pack
16:19
and then the battery pack to open body
16:22
means yeah we put the complete battery pack from the bottom
16:25
is the floor of the car
16:28
so the battery becomes a
16:33
structural component
16:35
structural component exactly of the chassis
16:37
makes also the vehicle itself very stiff
16:40
and it maximizes room because you don't need
16:43
additional crossbars or something it also says wait
16:46
because you don't have a second floor
16:48
now that you have above the battery
16:51
so yeah so it was very clear for us
16:54
that from the beginning if you want to be benchmarky
16:59
yeah we would call this this new route
17:02
Speaking of space in the rear seat you'll see the video up on the YouTube channel
17:06
you haven't already subscribed
17:08
I'm 6 foot 288 centimeters and lots of leg room
17:11
lots of head room in the rear and the fact that that battery pack is
17:15
in is the floor that the leg length height
17:18
all the rest of the ergonomics are very well spread out
17:21
as well as having a large boot
17:24
yeah that's what I also think we were looking at
17:27
so that you're still in the rear
17:29
the slimmer the battery then the more
17:32
how can I say the more upright you can sit
17:35
that you don't have your knees besides your ears so to speak
17:38
so and this is yeah this benefits
17:41
we also use the space under the seat
17:44
for all the control electronics
17:47
so yeah we can put the bench a bit higher
17:50
because underneath we have all the electronics that control
17:53
the battery, the energy management and so on
17:56
so the space is not wasted and yeah
17:59
in total with the especially also with our new
18:02
large panoramic roof
18:05
a very airy feeling and lots of space
18:08
also the rear base we do have
18:11
almost three meters of rear base in this car
18:16
gives more interior space
18:18
especially for the second seat row because
18:20
yeah we don't need to fit
18:22
six-cylinder engine in the front or fuel tank
18:25
or fuel tank in the exactly
18:27
so we can use the space
18:29
so it's a dedicated EV
18:31
unlike the previous ix3 which had
18:33
fuel options as well multi-fuel options
18:35
this one has been a ground up electric vehicle
18:37
on the Neue Classic platform exactly yeah this is
18:39
from ground up developed for purely electric to
18:44
efficiency the weight
18:46
because we thought I mean the
18:48
in this field to be successful
18:50
I think you do need a purpose
18:54
you do a lot of compromises
18:56
especially in this class
18:58
where this size yeah in the size
19:00
topic you don't have endless room
19:02
so there's not much room to
19:04
to spare or space to
19:06
to waste yeah maybe it's
19:08
for bigger cars might be different
19:10
when you talk 5 meters length or
19:12
I don't know 170 meters high
19:14
bigger cars might be different
19:16
but for us here in that segment
19:18
because it's an important segment for BMW
19:20
it's an important segment for European
19:22
market yeah exactly it's hugely popular
19:24
yeah I think globally yeah true
19:26
that KKL or as we say KKL
19:32
probably the most popular
19:34
in across the globe
19:38
and that's where we also said that's where we
19:42
our newer cluster in that
19:44
segment we've worked around the car
19:46
up to the cockpit now and we got a taste
19:48
of this at CES in Las Vegas
19:50
with the panoramic eye drive
19:52
but it's the four components of
19:54
that it's head up display
19:56
it's full width pillar to pillar
19:58
bottom of the windscreen panoramic
20:00
vision we've got the screen
20:02
yeah and the steering wheel and the steering wheel
20:04
yeah so it's it's a combination
20:08
three of them are standard on every
20:10
car yeah so the panoramic vision display
20:12
the big central display
20:14
and the steering wheel
20:16
with the controls with shitech technology
20:18
that's that standard
20:20
and then on top of that
20:24
information especially
20:26
with regards to guiding
20:30
3D head up display that then sits
20:32
even above our panoramic
20:34
vision so that's an option
20:44
head up takes what we what
20:46
you know from other BMWs also
20:48
one step further to give this three-dimensional effect
20:50
and even give you some more guidance
20:52
on complicated intersections
20:54
and yeah the four elements exactly
20:56
like we showed on CES
20:58
you had the chance to experience it
21:02
the target was also there
21:04
the screen is much closer to the driver
21:06
seat much closer to the steering wheel
21:08
so that you don't have to
21:10
take your hands far away
21:16
left hand drive and right hand drive
21:18
for the right hand drive it will be tilted
21:22
then of course where we also have
21:26
things right next to the steering wheel
21:28
so you hardly have to move your hands away
21:30
the philosophy is always like
21:32
yeah eyes on the road hands on the wheel
21:34
and this is our concept
21:36
and we enhance also the control
21:38
I hope you could try it out with our
21:40
new intelligent personal assistant
21:42
yeah so a lot of the
21:44
controlling and the
21:46
navigation input you can then do via voice
21:48
and we even enhance it now with
21:50
Amazon Alexa integration so
21:52
you can't only give
21:54
voice commands for navigation or
21:56
radio channels or vehicle functions
21:58
temperature open the window these kind of things
22:00
you can also ask some general knowledge
22:02
or have your base questions
22:04
exactly or you can ask for your
22:08
titles to play out of
22:10
your I don't know for example spotify account
22:12
or whatever you have linked
22:14
to your car and that also makes it
22:16
very convenient and easy to
22:18
easy to operate and we will also
22:20
next year then bring
22:22
language model into that as well
22:28
in the future also a big role
22:30
in terms of how we interact
22:32
well it's very easy
22:34
to understand it with that panoramic
22:36
vision the customization
22:38
of it and depending on what you want to see
22:40
what you're doing so we were in
22:42
a scary race course yesterday and we were in
22:46
yeah and so it was G meter
22:48
it was etc etc where you
22:50
can have different modes but also the
22:52
customization of the widgets
22:54
yeah you can do that
22:56
we have some preset
22:58
widgets where you see for example
23:02
your average consumption
23:04
that you have at the moment these kind of things
23:06
but you also you can personalize your own
23:08
screen with six different widgets
23:12
altitude to compass to
23:14
weather information
23:18
exactly and we also do have
23:20
which is coming new but because you mentioned
23:24
we do also now have the M in car apps
23:26
so if you have an M sport package
23:28
or M sport pack pro
23:52
one more in your favorites
23:54
combine five or more participants
23:56
and take them today for 99 cents
23:58
each one in our sale of 99 cents
24:22
may help manage EPI
24:24
creon is a prescription medicine used to treat
24:26
people who can't digest food normally
24:28

I'm asking my doctor about EPI
25:00
and if creon could help
25:04
in our digital premium
25:06
pack you do get the M in car
25:08
apps so where you also have more
25:10
information even about the steering
25:12
angle the tire temperature
25:14
the rotation speed of the front
25:18
you can also have either a big cockpit
25:20
on the on the central information
25:22
display or you can also some of the
25:24
information also put in your
25:26
personalized panoramic vision
25:28
steering wheel also
25:30
something totally different from BMW
25:32
yes steering wheel new design
25:36
the instrument cluster behind
25:38
the steering wheel is gone
25:40
so to speak there is no need
25:42
to look through the steering wheel
25:46
because you look over the
25:48
top of the steering wheel
25:50
to the panoramic vision that's why it's
25:52
flattened also on the top
25:54
and now the designers then said
25:56
hey we the ergonomics we now
25:58
have the room we have now more
26:00
degrees of freedom on how
26:02
to put our how to say
26:04
the spokes in the steering wheel
26:06
yeah it doesn't have to be
26:08
a nine o'clock and three o'clock
26:10
and then another one at six
26:12
we can actually make free up
26:14
hands left and right where you can
26:16
really grab around the steering wheel
26:18
so there's no spokes in your way
26:20
and so that's where we said
26:22
yeah we can do the two spokes
26:28
different stylings different colors
26:30
so there's also now from March
26:32
there will be a wide steering wheel
26:34
available that we've shown on the
26:36
IAA and on the pictures
26:38
it's not in the configurator yet
26:40
but from March it will come
26:42
then we do have an M
26:44
steering wheel which is
26:46
part of the M Sport Pro package
26:50
twisted it again the spokes
26:54
like what's it five o'clock
26:56
seven o'clock you do have
26:58
the spokes the rest is free
27:00
it's also a little bit smaller
27:08
there's for both designs
27:10
lovers and haters so to speak
27:16
there we do offer it and
27:18
customer in the end can choose which one
27:20
she or he likes best
27:22
I like about the shy tech as well
27:24
so depending on what you're doing the speed you're at
27:26
the circumstances that you're in the mode that you're in
27:30
the implementation of it is very good
27:32
yeah so yeah so independent of the
27:34
design you're right we do have the
27:36
controls on the left and right
27:38
the left side of the steering wheel is all about
27:40
your assisted driving
27:44
slow that's where you start your
27:46
parking maneuvers your parking assistant
27:50
above 30 kilometers
27:52
an hour like on regular speed
27:54
you can then also use it to activate
27:58
assisted driving functions
28:02
and yeah only those
28:06
that are relevant yeah so when you've
28:08
then started your assisted driving
28:10
then you see also a plus and minus
28:12
where you can adjust for example the speed
28:20
they would not work if you press them
28:22
if you hadn't before started the assisting
28:24
driving so I think yeah that's a
28:26
clever way you instantly know
28:28
you don't have to remember and search
28:30
you now need to press
28:32
the set button or the resume
28:38
and the rest the car
28:40
is doing based on the situation
28:42
because in okay you press it now
28:44
okay now you need to activate
28:46
and if you press it then you
28:48
cancel and then you press it again it resumes
28:50
so the car basically knows
28:52
based on the situation
28:54
or anticipates what the driver wants to
28:56
and with that redesign of the wheel
28:58
where your thumb and hand sits
29:00
the controls are really right beside
29:02
the designers the ergonomic designers could say
29:04
okay where does the typical hand sit
29:06
so the volume buttons have been moved up
29:08
on the right hand side so lots of
29:10
thought put into it because the steering wheel is
29:12
one of the most iconic parts of a car
29:14
it's the one that you usually have to touch
29:16
all the time when you are driving it
29:18
so Mark before we wrap up
29:22
is phenomenal but your colleagues
29:24
hyper miles from the production facility
29:26
Tim Unick in an attempt
29:28
there recently and got a phenomenal
29:32
they did indeed so they did do
29:36
our project had we were always thinking
29:38
of okay what is possible because WLTP
29:44
cycle with highway speeds and so on
29:48
they were wondering if we can break it
29:54
they drove from our planned and hungry endeavors
29:58
they even did a detour because
30:00
the battery wasn't empty yet and in the end
30:04
with over a thousand kilometers
30:06
we had a thousand and seven kilometers
30:08
two percent battery left
30:10
so it was about twenty some I think
30:12
was left so I was there
30:16
they are on their way and five o'clock
30:18
afternoon whatever they would arrive so
30:20
we all rushed out there to the BMW world
30:22
and welcomed them and
30:26
believed that you can
30:28
put another twenty while it's even more
30:32
you can put that much on top but
30:38
it was even more than one person in the car
30:44
no highway which is understandable
30:46
but they did restrict air conditioning
30:48
after a little while
30:50
so it was hypermiling
30:52
of course they did some route planning
30:54
stuff so that you also don't drive through
30:56
the city in rush hour but that you arrive
30:58
at certain points in time when the traffic
31:00
flow is rather good
31:02
but yeah in the end
31:04
it is remarkable and
31:06
really proud I think that
31:08
we could and they could achieve it
31:10
such a great distance
31:12
Mark thank you so much for your time and best of luck with the IX3
31:16
Thanks to Mark, thanks to Laura
31:18
from BMW Ireland for facilitating that interview
31:20
it's always great to talk to the people behind
31:22
the project and you can imagine how long
31:24
it has been worked on
31:26
we've been teased enough
31:28
but great to see it and
31:30
as mentioned in the YouTube video
31:32
I believe the order bank is very strong
31:34
for the IX3 coming in Mark
31:38
X-ray 50 that's coming
31:40
in March at that 74
31:42
and a half thousand euro price
31:44
there will be an X-ray 40
31:48
and that will be slightly smaller
31:50
battery not as powerful
31:52
and that will be in around that 64
31:58
for what it is and for the standard of equipment
32:00
that you're getting
32:02
speaking of good prices we have the
32:04
announcement of Tesla bringing in their standard range
32:06
and if you are a regular listen to the Popcast
32:08
you'll know that we talked about this a couple
32:10
of months ago when we spotted it coming
32:12
to the North American market
32:14
and we reached out to Tesla UK
32:16
and Ireland and they could not comment at the time
32:20
the 5th of December at the end of last week
32:22
Tesla announced the addition of the Model Y
32:24
standard to its Irish product lineup
32:26
replacing the Model Y rear wheel drive
32:28
with a range of over 500
32:30
and 5, it's actually 505 km
32:34
standard will be priced at 42,990
32:38
319 euros per month
32:44
have the premium which comes as a
32:46
long range rear wheel drive
32:48
and a long range all wheel drive
32:50
and then we have the Model Y performance
32:52
so we have 4 different tiers of Model Y
32:54
starting off at 42,990
32:56
then the long range rear wheel drive is
33:00
the long range all wheel drive
33:02
is 52,990 and then the Model Y performance
33:04
probably one of the best electric vehicles
33:06
I have that video up on my channel as well
33:10
now the standard is not just a smaller battery
33:12
there are stuff that's deleted from it
33:14
and so listen back to
33:44
there I was scrolling my phone
33:46
then someone cracked open a Mountain Dew
33:50
next thing I know I heard a rip
33:52
my friend tried the splits and jeans
33:54
but not a drop was spilled
33:56
have a blast with Mountain Dew
34:00
a punch of Tropical Citrus flavor
34:10
if you want to find out more
34:14
it's the most efficient Model Y yet because it's the lightest
34:16
it's saying the EWLTP
34:18
consumption target of
34:24
19 inch cross wheels
34:26
differing from the 18 inch wheels offered
34:28
on other markets this decision
34:30
was taken to reflect consumer preferences
34:32
in the Irish market and support residual
34:34
values to the market
34:36
built in the Gigafactory in Berlin
34:38
again video up on the channel if you want to
34:40
see what that is like
34:44
the light bar across the front, the light bar across
34:46
the rear, the screen in the rear passenger
34:52
seats that's in the premium you are not going to get that
34:54
in the Model Y so there definitely are
34:56
differences between the two go on to the
34:58
configurator or listen back on the previous
35:00
podcast and there will be
35:02
a video coming to the channel soon
35:04
on the Tesla Model Y
35:08
we also had the announcement and launch
35:10
last week of the NIVO
35:12
and the Bank of Ireland EV Markov Report
35:14
great to get that finally
35:16
out into the marketplace with
35:18
regards to what's happening in
35:20
the leading up to now
35:22
and also in the year 2025
35:26
if you listen to this podcast you know that the electric vehicle sector continues to accelerate
35:30
and so we launched our EV
35:32
Markov Report so NIVO is very much
35:34
in partnership with Bank of Ireland
35:36
and we provided a comprehensive analysis
35:38
of Ireland's evolving EV landscape
35:40
link is in the description
35:42
we've had 39% EV registrations
35:46
yes slightly down November
35:48
but that was just a blip and otherwise a very
35:52
why? Better awareness levels
35:54
of the positive climate impact
35:56
competitive finance offering, government supports
35:58
improved charging infrastructure
36:00
Bank of Ireland's EV financing
36:04
a rise, a growth of 50% in 2025
36:08
the bank is helping propel Ireland's EV Markov
36:10
forward with 16 brands
36:12
will underneath the Bank of Ireland umbrella
36:16
of all EV sales this year
36:18
the report also reveals that Irish consumers now
36:20
have more choice than ever choosing
36:24
we've had BYD come into the market in the last couple of years
36:26
X-Peng Smart Leap Motor of All
36:28
debuted several new models in
36:34
Renault 5, Renault 4
36:36
we're going to talk about in a bit
36:38
the Bank of Ireland sustainability related
36:40
lending grew by 16.5
36:42
billion at the end of September
36:48
of 15 billion ahead of schedule
36:50
the bank is targeting 30
36:52
billion euros of sustainability related
36:54
lending to households and businesses by 2030
36:56
Derek Havana from the Bank of Ireland
36:58
spoke at the launch
37:00
and he said Bank of Ireland is proud to support the continued
37:02
growth of Ireland's electric vehicle market
37:04
a sector we've long championed
37:06
the insights from the NEVO latest EV Markov
37:08
report highlights the importance of how the alignment
37:10
of well-designed electric vehicles
37:12
motoring policy with the industry
37:14
and finance supporting can help
37:16
unlock large-scale adoption with tailored
37:18
finance solution Bank of Ireland is helping individuals
37:20
and businesses embrace the environmental
37:22
and economic benefits of electric vehicles
37:24
as we continue our successful partnership
37:26
with NEVO we look forward to playing our part
37:28
in enhancing Ireland's electric vehicle future
37:30
Simon Andresetti who is the managing
37:34
and he's been on the podcast recently
37:36
as Ireland's only dedicated electric vehicle platform
37:38
NEVO is seeing firsthand the momentum
37:40
building across the electric mobility sector
37:42
the EV market report clearly
37:44
demonstrates a pace of change
37:46
strong sales growth
37:48
wider model choice more
37:50
confident and informed consumers
37:52
what stands out most is the increasing role
37:54
collaboration plays in sustaining this
37:56
progress the collaboration
37:58
between Bank of Ireland is a prime example
38:00
of what can be achieved when industry finance
38:02
and the consumer education align behind
38:04
a shared goal by combining NEVO's audience
38:08
and expert EV market insights
38:12
educational content with Bank of Ireland's
38:14
leadership in EV financing
38:16
we're helping remove barriers, simplify decision-making
38:18
and support both consumers and businesses
38:20
as a transition to electric motoring
38:22
so link is in the description
38:24
if you want to see that full report
38:26
it's online and it's available
38:30
so make sure you pop along to the link
38:32
in the description of the podcast for that
38:34
you should also have received it via email
38:36
if you're in the media or in industry
38:40
announced their new dealer location
38:42
in north Dublin so great to see
38:44
that expansion so we have south
38:46
west and north and we also have
38:48
new markets down in Munster
38:50
so X-Pang growing brand
38:52
MDL who are the importers
38:54
of X-Pang as well as other
38:58
we got an email from Ashley and Hallpure
39:00
talking about the 2026
39:02
new model arrivals coming into MDL
39:04
so motor distributors limiters are MDL
39:08
the pace of new model introductions
39:10
planned for 2026 shows there's no sign of slowing down
39:14
cars arriving over the year
39:16
with 15 of them being Mercedes-Benz
39:22
early arrivals from Mercedes-Benz
39:24
will be the latest version of the popular
39:26
four-door CLA Coupe which I was looking
39:28
off to attend the international launch in Rome
39:30
video was up on the channel and the
39:32
shooting break variant I haven't seen that yet
39:34
really looking forward to seeing that
39:36
that will come in battery
39:38
electric but also in a combustion engine version
39:40
as well Q2 will see
39:42
the introduction of the SUV
39:44
the GLC which again I've got
39:46
a look around on the channel
39:48
expected later on then in the
39:56
and that will be coming both BEV
40:00
rounding out the Mercedes-Benz
40:02
Q2 arrivals will be the all-electric
40:04
AMG GT four-door Coupe
40:06
performance unit that blends
40:08
sporty styling with executive car
40:10
practicality you'll see some more
40:12
combustion engine versions coming
40:16
C-class coming in as well
40:18
with a C-class saloon
40:20
BEV version coming in early
40:24
we'll also see the all-electric
40:30
you'll also finally from Mercedes-Benz
40:34
BEV all-electric two-door
40:38
BYD then gearing up with
40:40
lots of DMI technology
40:42
coming in with the C6 coming
40:44
super hybrid saloon
40:46
we're seeing a lot more of this
40:50
C-line 5 with hybrid again
40:54
start to see the BYD ATTO2
40:56
which I reviewed a while ago
40:58
but they were holding it back because it will be coming now
41:00
also as an electric and DMI
41:04
we'll also have the BYD Dolphin G
41:08
for the popular EV hatchback
41:10
Dolphin is one of their BYD's most
41:12
popular vehicle globally
41:14
I think I heard recently on
41:16
Martin from EV news daily
41:20
we'll also see a refreshed all-electric
41:26
and that will be coming
41:28
in a hybrid version as well
41:30
X-Peng will be bringing
41:32
their updated G6 Coupe
41:36
I've just done a video
41:38
on the existing model which I think is great value
41:40
and then in Q2 we'll see the 7 seater
41:42
X9 which I was looking enough to have a look at
41:46
at the beginning of this year one of the most
41:52
that I've ever sat in
41:54
so if you're interested
41:56
if you're in that market for a large
41:58
electric vehicle have a look at that video on the channel
42:00
so lots of stuff happening
42:02
with MDL and their plans
42:04
for 2026 so thank you
42:06
Ashley and Hallpure for that
42:08
during the week we attended
42:10
myself and my colleague Dave from Nevo attended the
42:12
Renault 4 Irish launch video
42:14
up on the channel have had a chance
42:16
to look at it at the launch
42:18
but great to get it back on Irish roads
42:26
and then going all the way up to 34995
42:30
I think they'll sell more of these than the Renault 5
42:32
as much as Renault 5 is a lovely looking car
42:34
I think the Renault 4 will sell more
42:36
practical super low
42:40
lift into a boot in that sector
42:44
very much like the original Renault 4
42:46
the original blue jeans
42:48
car is what they talked about that you could do
42:50
anything in it so we remember
42:52
the original Renault 4 from
42:56
on post back in the 80s
42:58
and it didn't realize that they were made in
43:00
Wexford which was a nice little
43:06
gave us at the launch of the Renault 4
43:08
so if you're interested in finding out more about the Renault 4
43:10
the video is up on the channel
43:14
signs a partnership with new ambassador
43:16
Allie Sherlock from Cork
43:18
you'll know Allie from Grafton Street
43:20
great singer songwriter and she's going to be driving around
43:22
in the Jeep Avenger
43:24
All Electric if I'm not mistaken
43:26
a link in the description
43:28
to see more about that press release
43:30
Polestar announcing new prices
43:32
for their Polestar 2
43:36
and Polestar 3 business edition
43:38
so the Polestar 2 business edition is now priced
43:46
because we have Polestar 4
43:52
if I'm not mistaken
43:58
and then we've had that and this is the new
44:00
investment for Polestar
44:02
Polestar 3 then also
44:04
business edition so they've seen that this
44:06
business edition is getting traction
44:08
people want to get into these cars
44:10
I have a neighbour here in my new house
44:12
and he's currently driving a Polestar 2
44:14
and he says I wish I went for the Polestar 4
44:18
Polestar 3 going back to that beautiful premium
44:22
is coming in at under 75,000
44:24
at a business edition price of
44:28
so these prices will be
44:32
from the first of the first
44:36
so looking forward to seeing that
44:40
I'm going to be doing a bit more of those
44:42
on the channel just to remind you how good
45:02
the savings can vary by state
45:04

the crew couldn't stop laughing
45:30
but hey, not a drop of
45:32
Baja Cabo Citrus was spilled
45:34
have a blast with Mountain Dew
45:38
a punch of tropical citrus flavour
45:42
verbal care is here
45:46
every part of your stay seamless
45:48
if anything comes up
45:50
or you simply need a little guidance
45:52
support is ready whenever you reach out
45:54
from the moment you book
45:56
to the moment you head home
45:58
we're here to help things run smoothly
46:00
because a great trip
46:02
starts with the right support
46:04
and hey, a good playlist doesn't hurt either
46:12
last but by no means least
46:14
we are going to be covering a Blackstone
46:16
motor group up in Cavern
46:18
this Thursday evening so if you're in the area
46:20
please come along to their EV showcase
46:22
the link is in the description
46:24
and we're also going to be on the night
46:26
it's between seven and nine
46:28
in Blackstone Motors in Cavern
46:30
and we're also going to be launching
46:32
unveiling the all-newness and leaf
46:34
that we had at the EV electric vehicle show
46:36
so they've tied it in
46:38
I'm going to be chatting about the latest trends
46:42
running costs home and public charging
46:46
and just the real world experience
46:48
of living with electric vehicles now
46:50
for coming up on seven years
46:52
which is phenomenal to think and
46:54
reliant on the public charging network
46:56
so I'm the unique use case
46:58
yes we have a home charger
47:00
for our own MG4 but
47:02
for all the press cars that I rely on
47:04
the public charging network so I'm having
47:06
the delights and the struggles of dealing
47:08
with the public charging network out and about
47:10
up and down the country so
47:12
I will be driving the this week's
47:14
press car of the week which is the
47:18
so the fully electric lineup now from Pugio
47:20
last week I was driving
47:26
McCann and I did the coast to coast
47:28
with the McCann so that video will be coming to the channel soon as well
47:34
the Neville EV news podcast
47:36
thank you so much for listening, thank you for all the feedback
47:40
and I look forward to chatting to you
