Hello, and welcome back to the cars rule, everything around me podcast, episode 50. And it's a big milestone, not just because of the number, but because of the surroundings. But before we do anything, we have to find out whether cars rule or ruin everything around us this week, William Chandler.

No, it's a rule because of the big yellow thing that's behind us that I've driven for the first time today. Not my stupid way to talk about this, but I also Ben is back, you know, Ben's back from his big trip in the Maldives. Yep, I'm back.

Was in bullying me a week about it. So before we get side track for bullying, William, what is sitting behind us? It is a Lamborghini Glado. Five litre.

Manuale, two thousand and four. And it's not of any Lamborghini Glado. It's your Lamborghini. It is my Lamborghini Glado. And it arrived last night at about eight o'clock at night, waited a while for it to arrive. And I sat in it once last night.

But then didn't that drive until today. And we will have we've all been out in it now. Yeah. And it's the loudest car on earth. I have never been in a loud car. And I, I think I've been in thousands of modified cars in my life.

And it's the loudest. I've not experienced anything quite like that. When, when it's when we'll said straight pipe meant straight pipe. Yeah, it's manifolds to the back of the car.

Everyone I've been telling the car about. I say it's straight pipe. And they go, well, yeah, but like, they stop raise and I back off. I've heard this call once. And it was the most disgusting thing I've ever heard in my life.

If I'm honest, it's not right in these changing, but for the time being, we went for a drive earlier, and we were two and a bit miles away. Yeah.

And when we came back, our landlord said, we heard you the entire time, every gear change, every single one crazy. It's far too bent. You enjoyed it.

Wonderful. Truly, truly magnificent. I couldn't contain my excitement. Yeah. But so it is a rule. I am really quite worried because there is a very expensive automobile to maintain. And also, I have to change the exhaust on that quite quickly, because I need to take home at some point. But yeah, it's surely it's a rule.

Well, I wanted to take a moment without being too sappy, because I will never say this outside of the podcast, but I am genuinely incredibly proud and happy and over the moon, because I know there's going to be probably a lot of people that are commenting on super cause, which I get it. I get it. You see, you see, you know, your favorite YouTuber starts mall and they work up to something that becomes unobtainium, but will is the only other person I've ever met in my life who shares.

Who I think knows the same level of obsession as I do the same level of it is invasive to every second moment of your life, and I know how important this car behind is, it's not an impulsive millionaire going this will be fun. This is I'm going to put myself into actually has a disamounts of debt to own the car that I dreamed about as a child and not only is that to me in very impressive and something I want to do too.

But it's a yeah, I'm very proud of us and of you for listening, being able to make this stuff happen, because a year and a bit ago will was unemployed and I was hating my job and about to leave.

Neither of us were thinking about buying super cars. No, so thank you. Thank you so much.

The time being hasn't got to go back. So it is. I'm yeah, I'm even out to be honest. So last night, you said, I had to go out for dinner.

And then the car wasn't even planned to get here until today. No, yeah, it was today. And then they you said halfway through the day. I'm, I'm

I skipped delivered. Yeah, around like six or seven. This is the one day in the week that I had dinner planted my girlfriend. Yeah. And I was like, Oh, God, damn it.

And we came back and opening the door to this bright yellow orange thing was quite incredible. Yeah, it was good. Last night, it was very dark outside and came in a closed trailer.

LEDs, so the color and everything. I had, yeah, that was very quite emotional actually seeing it roll off.

What's scary? So one third, one third of the cream dream team is is the cream dream. The cream dream. It's like the American dream.

I've only been back for four or five days. So I'm not. I'm not.

I needed it because I was nice. As you know, I always started to become rather irritable in life.

Because ten months of no break. How long until back to irritable?

That was that was no joke. That was I didn't have a break since Christmas last year is not end of September.

So it was needed. But and also we put out being wild because we have we have a fun time.

But it's a lot of hours and stuff. So I needed it. But also we quit from cars. That's great.

And you just lounge by the pool. You just chilling throughout.

No, that wasn't a tuff into it. It felt like it was, but yeah, yeah.

Just just chilling, which was nice. But now you're back. And now you're back amongst the cars.

Yes. And also I knew the whole time that you had a Lamborghini.

I wanted to do that. Oh, yeah, actually, well, we kind of mentioned it last week.

So before I left, I did my last shoot here before I went holiday.

And Will said, there's a Lamborghini in Scotland, but it sold. It sold in four hours.

Go on, mate. I remember thinking I was like, I didn't actually think much of it.

And I thought, okay, well, that's fast. And the gliders, they're going quicker and quicker, quicker,

all the time, right? But that was very quick. And I was like, Will, Will's on this every day.

He's got, she's got chat to be too set up for notifications. He's looking every night.

I was like, feels weird. Anyway, left it. Didn't think much of it.

One holiday. And then Will posted a sponsored story where in that story, he said,

I've just flown somewhere to look at a car. I responded to Will with quotations.

I've just flown somewhere. And then what's the meme? It's the docks meme from Dexter.

It's the guy looking suspicious. And he said, how do I know? Well, I wish I said,

all right, cool. I will leave it. A few years later, he posted on his story,

I'm looking for the car storage. I need cars. And I went, I still am.

And I responded, responded again and going, looking for car storage with the same meme.

And he went, I wish. I just responded. It absolutely reeks of glider.

Then even some people responded to that. And like, is it for something yellow?

No, no. Because I, but then so then this morning, after all this, Ben came back from

holiday. This car got delivered. Unfortunately, this was, which we'll get on the shelves in

a minute. Oh, yeah. Which is supposed to be at the hill climb, but it didn't make it.

We said, right, let's recall Ben's reaction. And there was, it wasn't surprised.

It was. I knew it. I knew it was this because I said, because, okay, so I feel bad.

I feel bad to my girlfriend, because the whole week we were away, I kept saying to her,

I was like, he's bought a glider. Can we please just enjoy our pile?

Yeah. You're Charlie from always sunny with the nicest board.

My thought was, I was like, okay, so I don't know why he's not telling me.

It's not because it's not, it's like, you know, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's your

thing. It's just entertainment, really. It's, it's, it's, well, that's fair. It's your

thing to enjoy. I don't want to be like, like, tell me, tell me, tell me. But I was like,

he's, he's bought, and then reveals it. I hadn't seen these guys until we went to food and

fuel at Chelsea Walsh, which we got on to on Sunday. And I got there. I thought he's bringing

his Lamborghini. He must have bought one. And he's the plan. And then I got there. And he,

he refused to admit it. Edwin refused it. Everyone now.

The girlfriends, they were played into it well. Have my girlfriend on the case. I told

my dad, I told, I told Tom Lenthal, and I was like, right, no one. Did you tell your

band? Do you tell your grandma? Is he a bit of a wild card? He could have just pulled it out,

right? Yeah, he could have just turned it over. And then also maybe giving me inflation,

because he probably would have forgotten about the car. Yeah, I had no idea. And I was,

I was driving home from Chelsea Walsh saying against my girlfriend who had fed up of this,

going, I swear he bought one. It doesn't make any sense. I thought, maybe it's just all

circumstantial. And I actually started to believe he hadn't bought one. And then Edwin said to me,

he went, oh, but when's the day we got off on the podcast? And I said, okay, we got,

because usually the podcast we sort of do around work. I was like, is it, we don't usually plant

that much. I was like, is there a guest? He was like, yeah, maybe. And I was like, okay, whatever,

cool. Got here today. And then walked in. And I, I used to in the video, I was on my phone,

sending a message to a Gabsor partnership guy. And I look up from my foot, I saw my peripheral,

a yellow car. I said, what? Looks up. And they're just Lamborghini there. So it was good. But yeah.

So you did do well to conceal it to be fair. Yeah. I'm over the moon. It's been absolutely

killing me. Yeah, there's been a couple of fumbles. There was, yeah, the tale of when we

mentioned the other day. And then this, the podcast that you'd have heard last week,

where Will and I were talking about it, we said to deck the editor, don't send it in the chat

with Ben. And then I woke up on the other day of the other morning and deck had posted the

link the night before in our big chat with Ben. And I said, deck of ice like, deck of ice,

no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Because if you had listed the podcast, the intro was,

I bought an Lamborghini. Yeah. Yeah, that was good. And then, but on a tangent, sorry.

Is it a rule for you? My clear is getting fixed as we speak. It will be, it's been a bit of delay,

but it will be done. And then, what's what have you chosen? It's going. It's going.

It's going. And so is probably the X5. But I haven't said that yet. But I think at least the

both cars you're gonna walk to work which one of my cars are you now buying from me

um I'm quite like no it needs I want to go I think I'm ready for a change

um all change perhaps yeah so I'm this isn't a hundred percent you know I'm like

I'm like chambermind probably but um yeah I want to I want to I want to get to mean

whoa you said it is one of your actual dream cars yeah you want to work towards an

st thousand right it's gonna happen which I love I love because I've I've always

loved an st thousand I think every really cool I think it'll be a really good

coffee blue on blue on blue hey we've been drilling into Ben to say it's gonna

happen yeah you gotta make sure it's gonna happen yeah so yeah I've been told

that you can't say it might happen it has to you have to see it it will happen and then

one will appear what do the children say these days I don't know certain

not self-fulfillment needs manifestation that's the one that is actually genuinely why I set my

my phone wallpaper is that that's the one I was like look yeah you have it's happening

so if I say it as that I'm gonna look at that every single day go right this um

I'm gonna work harder and faster and smarter but it didn't it does help that's the one set

their dream cars are background and you'll have it in a week that's that yeah it's so easy

to start sounding like one of those bullshit motivational people on Instagram that's like

yeah you just gotta keep working no there are there are real life concerns that stop people from

doing exactly but if you keep if you keep it in your mind like that M3 my 46 M3 that green one was

my wallpaper for forever and it's and because of that I never stop thinking about it I think if

I have not if there's not if it's not around you all the time you just go out one day and then it

happens awesome well on the Lamborghini which is it's difficult to give some context to it but

it's not like I don't own a house and I have kids and a dog and and go on holidays all the time

yeah I'm spending it on that that's the reason why is that I'm not saying if you save on those

things you can have the Lamborghini but it's to me that's what that's your thing yeah yeah and also

to note you didn't buy it outright no it is on finance yeah it's absolutely I mean I'm that's

I'm happy to it would have been financed no matter what obviously the Ferrari the crash Ferrari

it's probably gonna be on finance too if I can find someone dumb enough to load me money on a crashed

Ferrari yeah I've been doing the man that it works out trust me when evaluating potential

because everything seems to be good but yes I need to get um there's a few little bits

done the clear and then that'll be for sale and then x5 I think I want to get something I'll

do something miles I just want to get something more fair to just just just to run a bit it is a

bit but I think about it I'm like it's not the most intelligent commuter car no

because you're putting in what 20 to 25 MPG realistic realistically I reckon I'm getting 30

got it the car tells me 34 on a run but the issue is that I have about I don't know call it almost half

my commute in the morning is not the matter way and then the rest of it is the motorway so the

motorway is fine and it's quite gone the matter way but the wheels are still quite big it's

quite crashy suspension set up to be a little bit more stiff it's not a motorway cruiser

so and then also tires and any suspension components and wheel bearings in it's all very expensive

and then I'm also costing me 120 pounds to fill up the thing can't wait till Ben gets it off

and goes the tires and the and the expensive and the wheel bearings it's all going to be the same

thing Ben's on a trajectory down to the micro car no I'm not I'm not saying that it's just if

that it feels unnecessary yeah yeah but for what I need and also I don't we don't actually shoot

when we're at car throttle we used to shoot with multiple videographers and we'd bring a lot more

equipment so that sort of thing is helpful to have a big car but realistically actually having a

car that big doesn't really help me bring that much camera gear with me and it's usually just me in

the car so now speaking of micro car it's it's a rule from me because if you weren't aware last

week it'll be a week in a bit for you now there was the food and fuel event at shells the wash

hill climb which if you didn't know there is a hill climb in the UK it is it is what it says on the

tin really it's you're climbing a hill in a car it's a very steep hill it's got a couple of

curves very tight and we booked it for the event and it was incredibly good fun there were a hundred

cars that went up the hill so it was a car show cars parked up people could bring their own cars

with a live element which you know what I'm saying it just actually our idea it was we wanted to

we were going to do a TDC event and we wanted it to be actually Walsh but we we decided quite quickly

oh we don't have time to make this how we want we're just in there yeah we did we genuinely

checking that yeah so we handed it over to the guys at food and fuel and they and the events manager

did an incredible job yeah it was an incredible day we're going back there next year but get prepared

already it's going to be bigger and better but the reason for me it was a rule so you got to drive

the RS6 yeah once it was Benjamin you drove micro car the big man himself yeah they want to give

you a chance for speed so they put me in the micro I didn't think you'd do it why I did I

generally thought on the day you might go I'm I'm not fancing this because it was a good sport

about it yeah he was on the line right I'm quite a shy guy yeah in real life so I I tell

what on the line I was it was great fun and everyone went was fantastic and it was genuinely we had

a great time I just get nervous about everything I don't get no I do get nervous and it was it was the

also I've I wore my helmet that we we have three helmets the flag wheels is a union jack

with Edwin's is I think a Japanese flag it's a lambretto one but it's supposed to be a Japanese flag

and I have one that has daisies on it yeah so I was wearing that and I'm like a car looking I so

it's real attention and I could hear like I was on the start I could hear my left my left hand side

with the crowd was people going look at that oh look at that look how small that is the crowd he was

actually 70 Tom Lempel so yeah but it was good fun it was very good yeah and so yeah you you got

the mic car and I got the Mercedes E55 AMG which if you weren't aware on the TDC channel we built

it was very cheap E55 wagon we took we put two new 48 pound retirees on it with the intention

of doing a couple of burnouts there were a hundred cars at the event and one of them was allowed by

special permission permission to do a burnout till halfway up the hill Edwin had his own safety briefing

with the leader of the show's the watch button and I was I said lots of people kept asking like you

could have done you could have again said this thing's going until it breaks and by God did it break

oh God yeah so throughout the day the car is an open diff still the the Mercedes so if you don't

know what that means a limited slip diff or an LSD which you've probably heard lots times for means

both rear wheels or both front wheels will spin at the same time usually an open diff cheaper to make

easier for manufacturers to make one wheel will spin to work it will send power to whichever wheel

has less grip is it just send the power to the least part of resistance and LSD is much better

but the mark does not have that so when you're doing a burnout and let's say one's going quicker than

the other the grip lessons and the car goes oh I send all the power to that one then and that happened

on my way up throughout the multiple runs of burnouts which were pretty good but then it meant that

one tire was pretty bold and so all the all power went to that one on the last run at the start line

it was just the left high going the right one wasn't even spinning anymore we got halfway at the

run and I decided to stop and do another burnout in front of the the crowd at a bang a big bang

went off quite the bang more than a bang as well it was more than yeah and a flame and so we we

heard an earth shattering sound jacket jack was in the car filming it we have this footage we rolled

it back looked outside the car and my break this was gone and then I found I saw the break this

and it was inside where the wheel used to be the inside of the wheel to blown out like the whole

wheel the rim have blown I mean I can see what's left of the wheel up on the court it's now it's

hung up on the corner there's the top part of the rim is 100% gone the bottom part has the inside

like 30% missing and it blew the wheel the disc let go we believe so at 120 miles an hour of speed

the disc exploded into the wheel so that shattered the wheel which blew out the capatos really

unfortunate might still see if we can get refund on that tire because he would have gone again

he had tried but the disc exploding also blew the caliper clean off blew it smooth off

then which ripped the brake line off the brake line shot a little bit of fluid onto the disc

yeah which set fire very briefly for a second or two and it also blew a control arm off yes so it's

it's a right it's a pro what you would call a proper job it was a real yeah a real good one in fact

that it happened I started reversing I thought ah it's just the wheel it's just the tire was blown

out and then it felt really hard to move and then went and started moving again I said jack that's

bad as we reverse back I just saw a little control on bushing roll in front of me I said the jack

oh no that's bad that's not good but the 55 will come back stronger and we've already decided

there's there's I do I have plans that I can actually be right now but it's bigger and better

it's going to be doing it it's going to be doing it more so the whatever next event there is we

are actually thinking what am I spoke about this the other day a TDC slash cream event but it said

burn out box that would be great but look there's no MX 5 1.6s and things coming in and it

doesn't mean 1.8 get in either yeah none of this none of this none of this bullshit none of this

that we want pure entertainment it needs to be good it needs to be big I'm not saying we're the best

by far no we that was an open defy 55 but come with some smoke and then you're in it could be good

these have some qualifiers yeah you have to send a video you're doing it on the street hey

oh youtube channel investigated for inciting burnouts we're not saying you to go and do it but do

you have footage of you already do everyone's always got a fast yeah you must have footage so

a rule for me on that big or a half yeah that's actually unbelievable work it might be our best

work oh yeah in TDC terms that's that's almost the dream it really is to have an and people are

going to say damaging a car but hey it was being used as as intended it didn't want to let go it

the weird thing is I don't I then of course it got my attention so I skipped through and it showed

whoa so but like both of the x j and the x k are like 2012 yeah twenty elevens when he's off

in the garage cause a lot of people don't know when you buy a hard card with hard top it will

sometimes come with all the in option you have a stand and there's a stand that goes in your

on the floor it lays up against the wall with a stand but that's ridiculous you have to have

another part to take the part off your car yeah my dad had a hard top for his e46 m3 cab name

get like a retro modern thing that looks like a modern Ferrari light looks like a like a thin

like the one we saw it in exactly same like Monterey which I don't know if you know we went to

those badges you know to go on eBay the dignity you've had to destroy to find that red strip of

RGB I think you know but you have put time and effort into the car yeah and therefore as far as

you know TDC is concerned and we're concerned you are part of the club you don't like it

I just think it's horrible I will I will never abuse you to your face unless you're Benjamin

which but I will I'm allowed to do it in private and on the most popular automotive podcast

you're you're allowed to be mean about things and I people say like oh but it's you know you're

there's opinions there would be you know exactly what they're like I like onions and everybody has
