Welcome to the CarPro show with Jerry Reynolds, the CarPro, and his co-host, Todd Chambliss.
01:39
Jerry ran his own multiple dealerships for decades, so he can tell you exactly
01:43
how car dealerships work.
01:45
Todd knows how microphones work if you need that.
01:49
So get ready to lay some rubber while you listen to the CarPro show.
01:56
Happy Labor Day weekend to you.
01:59
We hope that you get some rest this weekend and that you get to enjoy some friends or
02:04
family or whatever is on your agenda.
02:07
But if buying a car is on your agenda, boy, I gotta tell you, your timing is great
02:12
because of the incentives that are out there, because of the old pricing versus the next round
02:19
of price increases we're gonna see coming right up with the 2026 models because of the tariffs.
02:27
So lots going on in the industry.
02:29
If you can't pull the trigger right now, you need to do so.
02:35
If you're thinking about waiting until the end of the year, gotta, I just don't think
02:41
this is the year to do that.
02:43
I think now is the time.
02:46
And I hope I'm wrong.
02:48
I hope I'm able to come back to you in November and December and say, wow, the incentives are fantastic.
02:55
The lease deals are through the roof.
02:57
It's Lexus December to remember deals are the best we've seen in a long time.
03:02
I hope I can say that.
03:04
I don't think I'll be able to.
03:07
Now, if you're self-employed or a business owner and you're not familiar with tax code 179,
03:13
you need to subscribe to the free weekly newsletter ASAP.
03:18
It doesn't matter how big your company is, it could be Todd's massage partner.
03:24
I would never have that ever, ever, ever.
03:27
It is an ugly visual.
03:30
I can't even go into detail about how much bad stuff's going on there.
03:33
But if you own a company or you're self-employed, you can write the entire cost of a vehicle
03:38
off on this year's taxes.
03:42
Also, this year, you can write interest off on your car loan.
03:49
And that's anybody, anybody can write the interest off on the car loan.
03:54
We haven't been able to do that since I first got the car business, which was a long time ago.
03:59
I've got that information in an article in our free weekly newsletter that came out Thursday this week.
04:05
It's usually Friday.
04:07
You can go to carpro.com at the bottom of the page and subscribe.
04:12
And you'll get this week's in your inbox immediately.
04:18
There are some substantial savings for certain people.
04:22
And in the case of interest, now, obviously, if you get zero percent interest,
04:28
that ain't going to help you.
04:30
But if you're not getting zero percent and you take the rebates instead,
04:35
you can write that interest off.
04:39
Todd Chambliss, my co-host and not the owner of Todd's massage parlor.
04:46
I want to make sure I'm not touching someone's back.
04:48
That's just not going to happen.
04:50
Well, as long as it's not mine, it can promise you that ain't going to happen.
04:56
Now, we have that straight.
04:57
Glad we covered that.
04:58
Yeah, this is like you said, this is the weekend.
05:00
And you were mentioning before, I mean, if you're looking to say, oh,
05:04
I'm certainly going to get like some incentives and deals on the 2026 is.
05:09
So it's week to week.
05:10
You just truly don't know.
05:12
I know there is a challenge now to the terrorists by an appellate court.
05:15
And that could go to Supreme Court.
05:17
So there's that going on.
05:18
But I mean, it's it's a bird in the hand.
05:21
Literally, you have the opportunity to get the car you've been hoping for.
05:26
The weekend where you can get the most bucks back as of as of right now for this
05:31
year anyway, I think you said, right, incentives.
05:33
Yeah, yeah, they run through Tuesday.
05:36
And these are the best we've seen this entire year.
05:40
And we saw a lot of movement this week with incentives going up
05:45
because business kind of fell off middle month.
05:50
And I didn't I didn't expect that to happen.
05:54
Carbis has been good all year.
05:56
Look like we were going to get close to that 17 million unit
06:01
count for the calendar year 2025, which is
06:06
right up there with the best years in history.
06:08
Look like we were tracking on that.
06:10
And then things kind of slowed down.
06:12
So, you know, I don't know what's going to happen.
06:14
Any insight on what you think may have happened or folks sort of like,
06:17
OK, well, I can't do it now because of tariffs or I think that's
06:21
probably part of it.
06:23
I think we saw people probably pulling themselves
06:28
ahead in their purchases because of the tariffs.
06:31
They knew they were coming and so they went ahead and bought earlier.
06:35
I think we've seen a rush of electric vehicle buyers
06:39
because the seventy five hundred dollars is going away.
06:42
At the end of next month, September.
06:45
So I think I think there was I think there was some pre-buying going on.
06:50
And that that happens, but whatever the case,
06:54
if you put it off and you're looking at this long weekend
06:58
and most dealers are open Monday Labor Day and you're saying, wow,
07:04
he says I could save a lot of money if I do something on a twenty twenty five.
07:08
Yeah, that's the case. Yeah, exactly.
07:11
There's no there's no doubt about it.
07:13
Let's go to Monterey Park, California and talk to Yolanda.
07:23
Hi there. Thank you for taking my call.
07:25
Oh, it's a pleasure. What can I help you with?
07:29
Well, I'm considering going from a luxury sedan to an SUV.
07:35
I'm looking for a safer car, a car that has a better visibility for me.
07:40
And I'm having a little bit of back problems and I'm older now.
07:44
So I was and I have a pet.
07:47
So I'm considering switching over from an ES 300 Lexus.
07:55
It has too many bells and whistles.
07:56
I purchased it during the COVID era when it was hard to get a car.
08:01
And I'm now looking at the Forester.
08:05
So I want your thoughts on that.
08:06
And I really like the visibility of the windows.
08:11
I did try the cross track.
08:12
It seemed a little bit too sporty for me.
08:15
Yeah. And that's why I'm at.
08:17
I'm also now strongly considering the hybrid because it has a little bit
08:22
more power, I understand.
08:23
I have not test drove the hybrid, but I will.
08:27
What are your thoughts?
08:28
I I'm concerned that coming out of a Lexus
08:33
and there's no bigger Subaru fan than me.
08:37
But coming out of a Lexus, I'm afraid that
08:41
it may not make you happy.
08:45
OK, and you're going to get a different.
08:49
I'm on the road a lot now.
08:52
I now have my little dog and I did try the NX Lexus that my daughter drives.
09:00
Yeah. And I like the Forester better.
09:04
I felt safer. I like the visibility.
09:07
I had never considered an SUV.
09:11
But it's a good way to go.
09:15
It's look, you're right about safety.
09:17
I say it all the time.
09:20
The Subaru eyesight system is the best in the industry.
09:23
It's fantastic. OK.
09:25
The visibility is right.
09:27
Getting in and out of it's going to be easy.
09:29
The things I want you to look for is OK.
09:34
It is the seat comfort and the adjustments that you can make.
09:38
Is that going to serve you well?
09:41
I want you to pay attention to the interior quietness
09:45
and and take a good take at least an hour test drive.
09:51
The only reason the car pro show exists
09:53
is to keep you from getting ripped off.
09:55
Call Jerry Reynolds, the car pro at 1-800-926-7777.
10:11
Every single week, the newsletter has got the latest information
10:14
about what's going on with the tariffs.
10:16
Jerry stays so like focused on it
10:18
that the 11th hour he's including stuff in there
10:21
just to make sure that it's current in the newsletter.
10:24
There's information about Audi and Buick and price hikes
10:27
that's in the latest tariff talk that was in the newsletter
10:30
that got released on Thursday.
10:31
Make sure you're a newsletter receiver.
10:33
Make sure you get that newsletter every single week.
10:36
You can start by going to carpro.com.
10:38
Go to the bottom, sign up today.
10:40
It'll be sent to you immediately.
10:43
And we're going to go back to Yolanda for just a second.
10:46
Yolanda, what I was saying and I'm sorry,
10:48
I let the clock get away from me is no problem.
10:52
It's taking a longer test drive than normal.
10:55
You're you're making a pretty drastic change
10:59
and your no car is going to hurt your back
11:03
in in a 15 minute test drive.
11:06
So OK, spend an hour behind the wheel.
11:11
And really, what I would love to see you do
11:15
is rent rent a forester for a weekend.
11:18
The weekend rates are cheap
11:21
and let you really spend some time with it.
11:25
If if at the end of that time you love it,
11:28
then I applaud you and it would you will absolutely
11:33
if it doesn't hurt your back and you can live
11:36
with the interior noise aspect of it.
11:39
You're going to have a great vehicle
11:40
and you're going to be as safe as you can possibly be.
11:44
I just don't I don't want you to be in the position
11:48
that so many listeners that I I talked to through the years
11:53
that got a car didn't didn't spend much time in it.
11:56
They fell in love with something else.
11:58
The looks, you know, the price, whatever.
12:02
And then found out that it hurts your back
12:06
and they wanted out of it triggered my my my call this morning.
12:10
I heard you and it came close to my heart
12:13
when you said once you drive that car, you're stuck.
12:15
And so I started reflecting and I thought other than the obvious,
12:20
I think for the forester is a very safe car.
12:23
But I really like that idea of driving it for a weekend
12:27
and getting a feel for it.
12:29
I'm excited about that.
12:30
My final question will be at this point,
12:33
doesn't matter whether it's twenty five or twenty six.
12:36
I'm not in a I'm not rushing to do this.
12:39
But as far as price goes,
12:41
do you think the prices will go up a lot in twenty six?
12:44
Yeah, I do. A new model comes out. I do. Oh, I think they're all going to go up.
12:50
And it's it's tariffs and, you know, so many of the,
12:54
especially the Subaru is because so many of them are made in Japan.
12:58
And that's one of the that's one of the 15 percent targets is Japan.
13:03
So if you could find a twenty twenty five,
13:06
then I certainly would, even if you missed the deadline for the incentives
13:11
Tuesday, there'll still be something.
13:14
There'll still be something out there.
13:15
And it's still going to be a lot cheaper than twenty twenty six.
13:19
OK, all right. That's great advice.
13:22
And I'm going to go rent one and try one.
13:24
Do that. I've got a I've got a great deal.
13:27
I got a great dealer in Santa Ana if you don't have any luck closer.
13:30
I appreciate the call, kiddo.
13:32
Let's go to Mia in Los Angeles.
13:39
I'm calling because I'm under five feet tall,
13:44
but I've decided I've been driving sedans all my life.
13:48
And I want to get a compact hybrid SUV.
13:51
Yeah, I love the cross track.
13:54
And then when I went in, they said, oh, we don't make them any more.
13:58
We're probably not going to come back with it until twenty twenty six.
14:01
I've been looking for a car for now a long time.
14:04
Yeah. So then I switch to the Toyota Corolla cross.
14:09
And what I found was I had to get the XSE to get the power tailgate
14:14
because I can't reach it.
14:16
Yeah. My height to pull it down manually.
14:19
Got it. They only make the XSE in a black interior.
14:23
And I just simply I know I don't want that.
14:27
And so I'm asking what other makes.
14:31
Compact hybrid SUV might you recommend?
14:37
Oh, boy, you might look at the Hyundai Tucson.
14:44
They're building a good hybrid right now.
14:48
So I would I would definitely put that on the list.
14:52
The Kia Sportage, which is very similar
14:57
to the Hyundai and take a look at it and see what you think.
15:04
But I got to tell you, there's just nothing better than a Toyota hybrid.
15:10
Their hybrid system is the best out there.
15:16
Somebody told me I could buy an SE
15:20
and then afterwards I could get the tailgate motorized.
15:23
And I thought, no, no, no, no, no, that that will never work out.
15:28
Trust me. I'd rather I would rather see you.
15:34
Get the seats recovered in leather
15:38
in the color you want than to do something like that.
15:42
And that's a possibility for about fifteen hundred bucks.
15:46
So give that some thought.
15:49
But you're on the right track with the toy looking at a couple of different cars.
15:52
Don't just flip a coin.
15:54
Call a car pro show for help in deciding 1-800-926-7777.
16:11
And Marcia in Austin, Texas.
16:13
Welcome, Marcia, I could help you.
16:17
Hi, Gary. Good to talk to you.
16:19
First time caller, long time listener.
16:22
Um, I have I have a let me tell you what I got.
16:26
I got a twenty two thousand and one seventy
16:30
twenty five hundred eighty eight point one liter engine passes everything
16:35
with a gas station. Yeah, I only need it to haul haul horses.
16:39
And it's only got ninety five thousand miles on it.
16:45
Because nobody would put that.
16:48
Got it. And I've got it.
16:51
Yeah, I've got it. Two thousand and six.
16:53
Oh, yeah, it was a coma.
16:55
I love my coma, but trust me, I'll never want to be a car other than a truck.
17:02
My look of the car is this truck.
17:08
The two thousand six with fifty seven thousand miles is that two hundred
17:12
sixty four thousand miles on it now. Wow.
17:15
Now we're putting the money into it.
17:17
Well, I never put the money into it until it hit two hundred.
17:21
So I'm I'm going out of there.
17:24
I've had a Chevy's.
17:26
I've put more money into Chevy's than any other vehicle.
17:30
And so I'm thinking now that I'm a federal employee that's retired
17:34
from the government, I'm thinking about getting a new used to coma.
17:40
Yeah, I'm wondering what your what your thoughts are.
17:44
I don't really like twenty four, twenty five.
17:47
I don't like to throw them in bottom. Right.
17:51
I've test drove a twenty twenty three fallible seats fallible.
17:55
They're hard to rock.
17:57
I mean, the seats on my two thousand six are wonderful.
18:01
Right. So I'm wondering what you think
18:04
about what what what I should look at for a new used to be a OK.
18:12
Well, I'm not going to I will only buy for the car.
18:15
All right. I and I do.
18:17
I've got round rock Toyota there.
18:20
You talk to Taylor, you know,
18:22
I think you're going to have to back up to about a twenty twenty or so.
18:27
They've made some changes to the Tacoma since then.
18:30
And a lot of people don't like them as well as they like their old one,
18:34
because the ride is a little bit harsher than than what they had before.
18:40
And I think that's just a change in the suspension.
18:43
But drive, see what Taylor's got, drive one of those.
18:46
And if you don't like it, call me back next week.
18:49
And let's talk again before you buy or lease your next car.
18:53
Call the car pro to make sure it's the right one for how you drive.
18:56
One eight hundred nine to six seventy seven seventy seven.
19:01
Tax Act can think of a million things more fun than filing taxes.
19:05
Tax Act is going to name some now sitting in traffic,
19:09
folding a fitted bed sheet,
19:12
listening to your coworker talk about his fantasy team,
19:15
digging a hole, digging an even larger hole next to that original hole.
19:20
Unfortunately, Tax Act's filing software can't make taxes fun.
19:25
But Tax Act can help you get them done.
19:29
Tax Act, let's get them over with this winter.
19:32
No one's your vehicle needs before it needs it.
19:34
Visit your Cadillac certified service center and ask for a
19:37
multi-point vehicle inspection and take advantage of stackable rebates.
19:41
See dealer for complete details.
19:42
Multi-point vehicle inspections vary by participating dealer.
19:46
Welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro and me, Todd
20:02
Chambliss in this week's newsletter.
20:04
This is kind of good news that this all plays out the way they say it may.
20:08
Talking about the EPA rules as far as environmental rules may be relaxed
20:14
that could give the manufacturers of cars a little bit of a break
20:18
that could I guess that could trickle down and maybe hold some of the prices down
20:21
when you're trying to buy a car.
20:23
I don't know exactly where we are with all of this.
20:25
I think they're still trying to get all that figured out.
20:28
But if that were to happen, that could be a way to kind of offset
20:32
what's going on with the tariffs right now.
20:34
Yeah, good, because the biggest crisis for the automakers prior to the tariffs.
20:41
But after the microchip shortage was trying to meet federal fuel economy
20:48
standards and yet offer up vehicles that people really want to buy.
20:52
Yes, that's been that's a balancing act that they've had trouble getting to.
20:59
Now, if America had taken to electric cars,
21:04
that would have solved everything.
21:05
It probably would have. But they didn't. Yeah.
21:08
So they were, by and large, rejected them,
21:12
even though the manufacturers had spent billions of dollars
21:17
and still are to this day developing. Yes.
21:20
So now the EPA under this current administration says, look,
21:29
we're backing off on fuel economy standards.
21:33
We're not going to change the standards,
21:36
but we're not going to find you
21:40
if you don't meet them.
21:42
And that was the crux of the problem.
21:44
And that was going to be billions of dollars.
21:48
So in the last administration,
21:52
some of the car companies were fined millions and millions of millions
21:56
because they didn't meet the standards.
21:58
So do you make better fuel economy?
22:01
If let's take Stalantis,
22:03
you're right. The old Dodge Cross or Jeep Ram.
22:07
Do you make cars that get great fuel economy
22:11
but nobody wants to buy? Right.
22:14
Or do you sink your money into
22:17
ram trucks that people do want to buy?
22:22
But we're not now going to meet our standards
22:25
for fuel economy set by the government.
22:28
And we're going to face millions in fines.
22:30
So the fines are pricing these many of these guys out of business
22:34
and a lot of lines because that reason right there.
22:36
Exactly. Yeah, that's crazy.
22:38
So at least for now, that crisis has been solved.
22:44
Now. 2028 rolls along.
22:49
We know we're going to have a different president.
22:53
This could all reverse itself.
22:55
Oh, within days, if not even sooner, if not day one.
23:02
So how if if if you're an automaker,
23:07
if you're the CEO at Ford
23:11
and you're Jim Farley, what do you do? Yeah.
23:19
I don't want their job.
23:21
No, that'd be tough to do because I don't care if it leaves.
23:24
I mean, 25 million a year. I don't want their job.
23:28
You can't it's a no win.
23:30
It's a no win. Yeah.
23:32
I mean, we have got somehow we've got to get standards of cars
23:39
that last for years and years and years out.
23:43
So these car companies can develop and produce cars that people want to buy.
23:50
That's the only way they'll still be around.
23:52
And one out of six people in America
23:57
are directly or indirectly tied to the auto industry.
24:01
Now, that I didn't know.
24:05
One out of six. Yes.
24:07
Man, directly or indirectly.
24:09
And that's my manufacturer.
24:11
That's retail. That is.
24:13
Service suppliers. Yeah.
24:17
The thousands of parts that go into a car. Yeah.
24:21
The people at dealerships.
24:24
Everything. A vital part of the economy.
24:26
It's essential. Yeah.
24:28
It's got to be. Yeah.
24:29
All right. So enough of that. OK, there.
24:31
Let's talk to Robert in Pasadena, California.
24:34
He's up next on the car pro show. Hello, Robert.
24:39
Hello, Jerry. I have a question.
24:43
I'm looking at getting the new Toyota Camry at 25.
24:47
Yeah. The base model.
24:49
Yep, I go on the Toyota site.
24:53
I want to lease one because I'm older.
24:56
We don't drive that much and just the way to go.
25:00
Yeah, I'm looking on on the site.
25:02
So it's two forty nine, thirty six months, two ninety nine signing.
25:07
OK, I've got looked up five dealerships
25:11
there way higher than what it says on the Toyota site.
25:16
So can you tell me the reason why?
25:18
For the same vehicle and everything?
25:20
Yeah, I can because the factory
25:24
websites, first off, Toyota's websites horrible.
25:29
They do a terrible job with their website.
25:32
They do a terrible job with anything computer related,
25:35
whether it's the dealers knowing what inventory
25:39
they got coming in all the way to their website.
25:41
But they when you say when it says two ninety nine down.
25:49
If you read the fine print, it takes you into plus tax,
25:54
title and license, plus acquisition fee, plus first payment.
26:02
Now, that two ninety nine just went
26:04
to three thousand, maybe thirty five hundred, depending on the car.
26:10
When a dealer advertises, they're advertising a true
26:14
down payment. If they say two ninety nine down, that's two ninety nine total.
26:19
And when you start talking short term leases like three years,
26:24
a thousand dollars makes a huge difference in that payment,
26:28
much less three thousand dollars or thirty five hundred dollars,
26:33
which is what you get from the factory ads.
26:36
So let me make it simple for you.
26:40
Let me make it real simple for you.
26:46
She is at Toyota Pasadena.
26:50
Right there in your hometown.
26:56

27:10
give you the real payment, give you the total out of pocket.
27:14
If you want to put more down, you can.
27:17
If you want to put less down, you can.
27:20
She'll adjust the payment accordingly.
27:23
And you can get you can get real numbers from a real person.
27:28
Unlock what you're getting on that website.
27:31
I just want the straight skinny go by to get the go drive it, take it home.
27:36
Sandra is your gal.
27:39
You'll thank me for this.
27:41
You will thank me for this. Trust me.
27:44
Thanks, Jerry. Appreciate it.
27:46

28:25
And I got 100 answers there.
28:27
You find our podcast that'll be up in about 45 minutes of all three
28:32
hours of the show today. Everything's at car pro dot com.
28:37
Don't get a new car unless you check it out with Jerry Reynolds,
28:40
the car pro at 1-800-926-7777.
28:56
Well, last week, you pulled up in a 2025 Audi SQ8 prestige
29:01
and it was impressive and the height of luxury.
29:05
Of course, it's got a luxurious price tag, too.
29:08
But what an impressive car.
29:09
This week, you're driving it's a Bronco Strobe.
29:14
Strobe edition. Strobe edition.
29:16
Baja type of package on it.
29:18
And you said there's a lot of impressive things
29:20
about not exactly the kind of car you'd probably look for
29:23
because you're not off road and all that.
29:26
So the question is next week, what do you think you'll be driving?
29:29
Well, I'm on a Ford run right now.
29:31
And that's the way it happens when you four doesn't give cars
29:35
to very many reviewers.
29:37
And when you do get them, you get like five of them in a row.
29:40
Yeah. And that's the way they do it.
29:43
I've got a 2025 Expedition Max.
29:48
That's the extended length. OK.
29:51
That comes with the stealth performance package.
29:56
What pretel would that be?
29:58
Well, that would be a larger engine.
30:01
It's got a 3.5 EcoBoost high output engine.
30:08
It comes with the Blue Crew's 22 inch wheels.
30:13
And it comes in a color called Wild Green,
30:19
which looks like army green to me.
30:23
I've only seen pictures of it.
30:25
Obviously, I won't get it this week until Tuesday
30:28
because of the holiday.
30:30
And then I'll pick up the Bronco and leave this off.
30:33
So we'll see what I think of it.
30:35
I had a Kelly Green Expedition a long time ago before.
30:38
Yeah, this isn't Kelly Green.
30:40
Yeah. So it's Wild Green.
30:42
Eighty five thousand nine hundred and seventy dollars on the
30:45
Winchester. Yeah, well.
30:47
The price is a little expedition, but the new 2025 is pretty wonderful.
30:51
Those are nice. Yeah.
30:52
Let's talk to Ted and Santa Barbara.
30:54
Ted, what is going on, my friend?
30:56
How can I help you?
30:57
Hi, Jerry, can you hear me?
31:00
Yes, sir. OK, I got a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland
31:07
with a three point six liter V six pin star motor.
31:11
There is the problem.
31:14
Heard a tap it noise.
31:16
Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, look it up on YouTube.
31:19
There's hundreds of videos talking about the pin star motor.
31:23
That's a common occurrence, apparently.
31:25
Doesn't say much for the cheap brand.
31:27
I can tell you that and it looks like that what you've got to do
31:31
is take all that crap off the top of the motor.
31:34
Then you got to take the head off and you got to get down in there
31:37
and find the tap it roller that's bad.
31:39
And then once they find that to say, well, we're down here.
31:41
We might as well replace them all.
31:43
Then they go, well, while we're doing these,
31:45
we might as well do the other side and it's not worth it on 2015.
31:52
So what are you going to do?
31:54
Well, the 2015's only got 60,000 miles.
31:58
And so how do I get rid of it with that problem?
32:01
That's the main problem I got.
32:03
Now I am going to buy another car.
32:05
If I have to buy a new, if I have to buy a Lexus, I will.
32:08
If I have to buy a random Rover, I will.
32:11
I mean, I'll pick a car and just pay for it.
32:14
But how do I get rid of this jeep with that problem in it?
32:19
It's probably an eight or $9,000 problem.
32:21
Yeah, it probably is.
32:22
And that's probably about what it's worth
32:26
if it were up and running perfectly.
32:33
It's an impeccable condition, 60,000 miles.
32:36
I think if you try to sell it yourself, there's always.
32:42
Guys out there looking for cars like this
32:45
that they can fix themselves.
32:47
They've got to know how.
32:50
And I think I would.
32:51
I think I try to sell it just the way it is and price it up.
32:57
You know what I want you to do?
33:00
I want you to put that thing at my website under.
33:05
Sell a car at the top of the page, OK?
33:08
And I want you to put pictures of it in there,
33:09
put the odometer in there.
33:11
Don't say a word about the motor.
33:13
And I want them to tell you what they'd give for that car.
33:17
If it were running great.
33:19
So don't don't jade their thinking like if there's an issue with the engine.
33:25
And then from that, I tell you what,
33:28
can you hang on with me during this commercial?
33:30
And I'll be back in just a minute.
33:33
It's easy to get taken advantage of when you buy a car.
33:36
But the car pro can help you avoid that.
33:38
Call them at 1-800-926-7777.
33:47
All right, we're going to go back to Ted in Santa Barbara.
33:56
Ted, we want to play this thing smart.
33:58
So the two numbers that we need are we need to know what it's worth.
34:03
If it runs and drives good with only 60,000 miles.
34:06
Then I need you to get on the phone and call around to some independent
34:11
garages, not dealerships, but independent garages.
34:14
And if you Google them, you'll find some good ones.
34:17
There's a bunch of them in the Southern California area.
34:21
And let's see what a fix for that engine would be.
34:26
So let's play hypothetical real quick.
34:29
If it's worth 12 grand running and you can fix it for six,
34:39
get it fixed and then sell it.
34:43
If it's worth nine grand and it's going to cost eight grand to fix,
34:49
it's probably not worth it.
34:52
But without, I mean, trying to guess at those two numbers is just going to be impossible.
34:58
And there's no reason to.
34:59
We can find out what it's worth and we can find out what it's going to cost to fix it.
35:05
Yeah, it's a quiet tap, tap, tap.
35:07
But another quick piece about the car from a dealer in San Luis Obispo,
35:12
it was the owner of the dealer's wife's car, bought it for 6,000.
35:16
I had 6,000 miles on it in 2017 and I paid 36,000 for it.
35:24
So now this tap at noise, the car drives perfectly.
35:30
But I don't know what's going to happen if I keep driving.
35:32
Is it just going to just quit on the side of the road?
35:35
Or is it just kind of that cylinder is going to get real bad and then you're,
35:39
then you're really dead.
35:40
You can't even demonstrate.
35:41
And I don't know the answer to that.
35:43
My crystal ball broke.
35:44
But I think it's a safe bet that you need to do.
35:49
You need to figure this out and you need to do something different.
35:52
I think it will continue to deteriorate.
35:55
And when it goes, then you've got a boat anchor, essentially.
36:01
A real test drive should take more than half an hour.
36:04
But before you take it, call the car pro to find out what that involves.
36:14
Tax Act can think of a million things more fun than filing taxes.
36:18
Tax Act is going to name some now.
36:20
Sitting in traffic.
36:22
Folding a fitted bed sheet.
36:24
Listening to your coworker talk about his fantasy team.
36:29
Digging an even larger hole next to that original hole.
36:33
Unfortunately, Tax Act's filing software can't make taxes fun.
36:38
But Tax Act can help you get them done.
