see him and have him in studio, it was really great to hear him.

He needs to happen, but you know, he's Kevin McCarthy, so what are you going to do?

And they need to sell some cars.

And I will tell you that the end of the month does make a huge difference.

It's not that way during the month always.

There's not the urgency that there is.

And, you know, even with the hoopla and everything going on, I mean,

most important thing, obviously, in your world and situation,

when you're thinking about getting a new vehicle, putting this off for later,

even wait until Monday.

You're not going to have the advantage that you have today,

just because this is the last day of the month.

And they close the books on Monday.

And after that, you know, you're not that you won't get a good deal or the incentives won't be there

possibly, but there's a big push and they want to get those numbers.

And like you said, it's all volume.

And so why not take advantage of that situation and get that going today?

Now, the incentives do run through Monday.

If you can't, if you just absolutely can't get into one of our dealers this weekend,

the incentives run until Monday.

So, but Todd dried, I mean, this weekend is the time.

I mean, if you're going to, if you're going to do something,

trade in values go up, even the lenders are more lenient at the end of the month.

So yeah, they are, they've got numbers to hit too.

I mean, the whole auto industry is, is based on objectives.

Did you get the dealers get an objective from the factory?

The dealers give an objective to each one of their people.

Here's how many cars we got to sell this month.

And then the same with lenders.

They want to what we call book so many deals in a month.

And if they're running short, and you've had some credit issues in the past,

the last day of the month is the time.

They're going to look past that a little bit.

They do, they do tend to get blinders on.

And well, what I'm trying to do is I need a new car.

Yep.

It's basically going to kind of be my retirement car,

because I'm sure I'm going to retire sometime this year.

Good for you.

But I have been, I have been, I have to be financially responsible

because I don't have a whole lot of money.

But I've been reading a lot of information about,

there's a lot of cars that do data tracking,

and they gather this data on, data on you, and then they sell it.

And I'm trying to find a quick brand of car.

Can you truly maybe really get that stopped or,

you know, be responsible at trying to get it stopped

as much as possible?

Yeah.

Know if you can completely.

And I've covered this for several years now.

I did a whole series of articles in my free weekly newsletter

two years ago, well, it'll be two years this summer,

about is your car spying on you?

And as I got deeper into it and was writing it,

I learned more and more and more about it.

They're all doing it and they're selling the information.

I gave people a step to find out what they knew about you.

And it's all reported to a company called Lexus Nexus,

which has been around forever.

And their their data gatherers and the car companies hired them

to gather up the information and give it to them so they didn't have to do it.

OK, so all of it can be stopped.

Lori, if you go through the screens of your car, here's the problem.

They're all different.

And I deal with this every single week when I get a new review car.

And I always I'm just like everybody else.

I'm programmed to hit I accept to get that down off the screen

so I can get to the radio or whatever I'm doing or the navigation system.

Or in some cases with cars nowadays, some of you have to get into that screen

to be able to turn on the air conditioner in some cars.

So we all do that.

And I got to tell you, it's you just don't want to do that.

If you can avoid it at all, if you're willing to take the time

to go through those screens and answer no, what you're going to have to do probably

sometimes 10 times, I've noticed.

All right.

Let's go back to Laurie and Louisville, Texas and Dallas, Fort Worth area.

And we were talking about a story that was in my newsletter yesterday.

In fact, the number one click story was clicking.

I accept on your car screen is not wise.

So Laurie, did you get to, did you get to see that article that was in the newsletter yesterday?

No, I get the newsletter, but I haven't seen it yet.

I was pretty tired when I got home from work last night.

Oh, I understand.

This was, this, this was all based on a lawsuit that was filed by a customer that owned the toy.

And he sued Toyota and he sued likes, I'm sorry, progressive insurance because he

alleges and is actually able to prove that the data that they collected from him

in his words were an invasion of privacy.

And you could actually make that case when you find out what information that they got

from the way that he drives.

And so it was, it was pretty telling.

Now here's, here's why I said don't click accept because in his, this gentleman's case,

so in Toyota and so in progressive, the judge ruled that they, that the lawsuit could not go

forward, that he had to arbitrate with them because when he clicked I accept, he accepted those terms.

So that's why you've got to read when you get a new car, you got to read

through the fine print.

It's there.

You have to find it and some cars are easier than others.

So in your particular case, when you're out looking for a car, I wouldn't worry about that

piece of the puzzle.

I wouldn't want you to make a car decision based on that.

We'll figure out how to get you through the screens.

I'll help you with that, but don't base your car decision on that.

Just when you're ready to get your retirement car, just let me know.

And I'll give you two or three choices and you go out and you can look with some of my dealers

that'll make it real simple for you.

But I'm actually planning on looking today and got the VIP letter for Freeman and Mitchell

Mazda, but I'm not really sure which way to go.

Are you thinking car or SUV?

Well, because of price, it might have to be car.

It might have to be sedan.

I have a Honda fit right now and I have 10,000 or 60,000 miles on it.

Because I will keep the car for a long time.

Well, neither one of those brands is going to last you that long, too.

I would tell you to look at the Toyota Corolla if you're trying to be price conscious.

Look at that.

At Metro Mazda Mesquite, look at the Mazda 3.

Now that car comes in a hatchback or a sedan.

So it just depends on if you want a trunk or if you don't want a trunk.

And while you're at Freeman Toyota, look at the Corolla Cross.

That's actually, they call it an SUV and it is.

It's just it's built on the Corolla chassis, which is fine because Corolla has been a great car for decades.

So really, all they did was put an SUV body on it and some bigger tires.

But I think you'll see that if you go with the Toyota, the Cross will be a little bit more money,

but it's not up as high as your typical SUV is these days.

So it can it can keep your budget in line, but you still get the good visibility out of it that

you get with an SUV. If you do decide to go with the car, the Corolla or the Mazda 3,

I think would be the two that I would focus on.

Yes, sir. All right, I think I just keep getting the bait and switch. My wife and I usually buy a

new car, but now I'm using looking for a used car, a Toyota Tacoma. I want it to be fairly new.

So I've seen two. So I go on to the websites and I see these vehicles. One was at Space City out

here in Humble and I was willing to give them the price they were asking on the Internet. Well,

when we sat down, they came up with $1,950 more than the price on the Internet. And I said,

what is this? And they said, well, it's for a security system that we have in place.

It's like on-star. If the vehicle gets stolen, you can go to your phone and locate your vehicle.

It's worth about $10. But go ahead. And the car is a used car. It's five months.

Some owner had it for five months and I said, well, it's already been installed on there when he

bought it. Why am I paying for this? So just tell me because I just drove from Kingwood all the way to

Brookshire, which is over an hour to look at a vehicle and I get out there and they said, oh,

we're sorry. We didn't know it had. It's classic bait. It's classic bait and switch.

It is, Mark. If you can't negotiate, if you can't negotiate that with them down, which they should

do, go to Fred has Toyota World and talk to Jimmy there, tell him I sent you. He won't do that to

you. And if you're not a newsletter subscriber, you need to be because I address this next week.

Welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro with me, Todd Chambliss. In

this week's newsletter, an interesting thing, especially if you were thinking of doing something

with your EV, here's a bit of advice that Jerry gives you, probably should do something sooner

than later. There's an extended forecast that here's the headline. Your extended forecast,

flash flooding of used EVs. Nice weather imagery on that, by the way. I thought that was kind of

clever. That was kind of clever. And with these EVs that are now coming out at least, there's a whole

glut of them. It's going to be hitting the marketplace. The roughly projected over 120,000 is what you

were saying in the articles. 300,000. Maybe I got that wrong. Maybe it's 300,000. So with that being

said, if a number one, there's going to be a ton of them out there, I guess the prices of those

with the marketplace being inundated with it are going to come down. And if you were trying to

thinking of doing something with your EV and you're thinking of trading and the value is going to

start kind of going down pretty quickly, I would imagine. They're going to plummet. Plummet,

that's a good term. And I hope anybody with an EV was listening the 1000 times I said,

if you're going to get an EV, lease it. Yes. And those people are going to be able to just

hand them the keys and walk away. If you bought one, get out of it now, because the market's going

to just absolutely crater. So with. Look at that. Look at there. I just walked into our studio here.

It's our 24th anniversary and we got some beautiful flowers. That's a tall set of flowers there.

Holy cow. Yeah. I'll look at the cards when we get a break here. That's nice. All right. I

was talking with Mark a second ago about, we went to a dealer that had an advertised price online

and they jacked him by $950 when he got there because of a security system.

I wrote an article. I'm still working on it. It will be in next Friday's free newsletter about

this very subject. And not only do I give our listeners in Texas and California the statutes

that violate that, that violates the law in both states. So you can turn these people in.

I'll tell you how to turn them in. I'll tell you who to talk to. Man, that's helpful right there.

I'm sick of crooked dealers. And you keep hearing all these stories sitting in your position,

not only on the calls that come here, but on the emails folks, one after the other,

not knowing they don't have the information that armed with it and falling for it. And they,

Hello Jerry, thanks for taking my call.

Well thank you for holding.

Thank you.

I presently have a 2017 Ford Escape

with 110,000 miles on it.

I'm interested in just trading in

for a new 2026 Ford Escape.

And I was wanting your ideas about that

because are they still going to discontinue that car?

They are.

It's going away after this year

which I don't totally understand

to be honest with you.

It's a great SUV.

It's been a good seller for them.

And I think it probably got wrapped up

in the electric car movement at one time

and they slated it to go away

and they're sticking with that

for whatever reason.

Now with that said, it's a great SUV.

I've recommended it a thousand times.

When my own mother-in-law decided

that she wanted to go from a car to an SUV

it's what I recommended for her.

She still got it.

It's a 2018 and she absolutely loves it.

So the only thing you've got to worry about

Charlotte with a car going away

is parts.

And that's not going to be a problem with the Escape

because number one,

law says that they have to make parts available

for 10 years.

Number two is this vehicle shares parts

with a lot of other Fords.

So getting parts is not an issue.

Resale value is an issue

but for as long as you keep a car

if you keep this one as long as you've kept your 2017

nine or ten years

resale value is out the window anyway.

So I think it's a really good choice for you

to be honest.

And right now the incentives are the best we've ever seen

and that's typical of any car company

that is phasing out a car.

They jack the incentives up.

So you can get a bargain on one right now.

Now let's make sure that you get a good deal.

Let me ask you this question.

Are you closer to Umbel or Tom Ball

or closer to Angleton

or closer to North Shepherd Drive in Houston

because I got four four dealers in Houston.

To be quite honest, I'm not close to any of them.

I'm right off the Gulf Freeway in Friendswood

in downtown Friendswood.

OK.

So how far are you from Angleton?

About 30 something miles.

OK.

Well worth the drive.

Trust me on that.

They have been wonderful to my listeners.

that's a good idea.

You have to talk about the folks who have actually gone

through the process who are looking for a vehicle.

Jerry gave them the good advice.

They took it and look at what happened.

So we're talking about Wes in the Dallas, Fort Worth area

who was looking for a GX550 and went to Park Place Lexus Grapevine.

And he said that Charles Oh went over there of course.

Of course.

And he says that he has got a vehicle that's going to be

ready for him in April.

I guess there's a waiting list for that.

So they're so stacked up on GX's people wanting those things

all over the country.

Not bad.

That's why you need to, if I've got a Lexus dealer

within 500 miles of you, you need to use them

because if not, you're going to get on a waiting list

and you may never get that vehicle.

Yep.

Only chance you've got really is to go through one of your guys

and do that.

Yeah, because they prioritize my listeners.

That's right.

He says over the years he has bought from you

an accurate TL through you.

A Lexus GX460.

I had one of those.

A BMW X5, a Ford truck, a Ford Expedition,

a Toyota Sequoia, a 25-4 rudder, and now the GX550.

Wow.
