It is good to be back and again,
here we are in the month of February with January.
I think you said in the Dallas show earlier nationally,
pretty good January overall.
Yeah, sales were up slightly.
Slightly.
From last year.
And last year, January was actually pretty good.
But this year, it's a little different,
parts of the country, especially
where we are in North Texas had a little bit of weather
that kind of mucked up the works a little bit.
You know, there were a lot of parts of the country
that had it, you know, even down in Austin,
they got some of that ice.
Houston was just bitterly cold for them.
So yeah, it kind of wrecked the last week of the month.
Yeah, so with that,
it's one of those things where this might be
another really good time because as you also mentioned before,
used car prices as far as the auctions and everything,
they're not at the very tippy, tippy top,
but they certainly are holding firm
and it's a good time to trade in your vehicle.
Yeah, it is.
They used car values, just mind boggling
how high they got and how high they've stayed.
Yeah.
I think they've, it would appear over the past two weeks.
I've seen a leveling off of the car,
I've seen a leveling off,
but man, some cars are still just bringing huge dollars
and what's crazy and I don't understand this at all.
I don't take saying that lightly,
but used Teslas at the auction
Yeah.
are bringing huge money.
Yeah, that is surprising.
Well, that market's been way off for a while
and I think maybe it's just adjusting now
and it went too low on Teslas
and so if you got a Tesla to trade
and you tried to trade it six months ago,
you might wanna try again
because they're bringing big bucks all of a sudden.
Could be partly, I mean, what you said, certainly true,
but also could be partly because of the announcement
the Tesla made that they're gonna be discontinuing
two of the vehicles they were making.
Yeah, and you know, I wonder,
given the appetite for electric cars in America,
I wonder if Elon isn't transitioning Tesla out.
I could very well see that.
Over time.
And he's not the kind of guy that would do it overnight.
He would slowly take it down,
so you're taking away two of the vehicles
and you are not replacing them.
And that makes me wonder.
Yeah, he still has other models that he's doing,
but two of these, I guess these are the original ones, right?
Yeah, these are the old ones, yeah, maybe not.
Maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe it's just time for an upgrade.

on the Lincoln Nautilus in the reserved trim.
I've driven it and it sure drives good,
but I just want to make sure there's
not any issues that you know of.
I haven't heard anything bad about it at all,
and in fact, everybody that I've helped get one
just raves about it.
I mean, it's a aesthetically beautiful SUV
and then you open the door and you see those screen,
that screen that goes all the way across the vehicle.
And I just, the first one I reviewed and you can,
if you go to my website, Debracarpro.com,
up at the top, there's a search box
that put Nautilus in there
and it'll pull up my most recent review.
And you'll see that I loved it.
Lincoln does the absolute best job with seats
as far as comfort.
They've got those thigh supports that are there.
You can raise the left side or the right side
and bring your thigh up.
And I'm gonna tell you, on a road trip,
that is such a relief to be able to move around
just that little bit of space.
And I'll tell you what,
I don't know of a more comfortable SUV out there at all.
I would get the hybrid if I were you.
That's what I did look at.
Good, good, good, good.
So, if you want-
I put in about a hundred miles a day
so I definitely need something with comfort.
Well, I don't know that you can do any better than that.

I have a question.
I just wonder what your thoughts are
on Kia,
the products model.
They're going to buy one
between your citizen
and I'll probably
use it
minimally, maybe like around
20 miles a day
and maybe even do some part-time
lift driving on it. That part
I'm unsure, but do you have any issues
with the Kia Soul? No, I don't.
I've always enjoyed the
now that's not a true statement.
I
started enjoying the Soul
after about
2018.
The first five years
or so of the Soul,
it was
the least expensive SUV
sold in America and there was good reason
for that.
It was really loud inside.
It had a rough
ride, somewhere around 2018
if I remember correctly.
They really upgraded the thing
and it got quieter inside.
They upped the horsepower
but yet the fuel economy
was great and the main thing
for me was they made
it way quieter inside
than it had been in years
past and from that point
on I became a fan
and it was more about
the money. I mean for a lot of years
you could buy a brand new one well under $20,000.
Well those days are gone
and unfortunately
and the Soul
is going away.
We know it's being discontinued.
That doesn't bother me
as far as getting one
but you know the question
is are you thinking
new or used?
Well
you know what, I'm 50-50 on that
new one possibly
but the pre-owned one has $6,000
and been used as a loaner
for people who buy from that
dealership here in Houston
and it has $6,000 on it
so I'm thinking about
I'm sort of in the middle
I don't know if I should go for a new one
or for a pre-owned one.
Well let me tell you
what for me would be
the determining factor there
is the warranty.
If you get the full
10-year 100,000 mile warranty
with that loaner car
then that would be
where that would go.
If not
because
used kios come with a
5-year
60,000 mile warranty
and so
if you're getting the 560
versus the 10-year 100
I'd go with a brand new one
because the incentives right now are really good
they're closing them out
the dealers know
once they're gone they're gone
they'll never get another new key of soul
in and you can get
a bargain on one you can still get one
right now with the deal
at least at my dealers
at carpro.com
you can get one in the low $20,000 range
which is unheard of
right now.
So for me the determining factor
would be the warranty.
Well the warranty right now is prorated
it has 4 years left on it
bumper to bumper
that would cost is $2,025
that would be the pre-owned one
that's prorated again
it's not the new warranty
and what are they asking for
for $20,000
the prorated one
and did you compare
that to a new one

but the new one cost like $22,500

if I remember correctly

want to transition to all
electrics
this is not a race and if you're trying
to make it a race
you might not like

it's almost like you had a crystal ball
and you were seeing into the future
and they didn't heed your advice did they

they didn't listen
those three car companies
in the last two months
have written off

billion on
just electric cars and they're not done
oh no
they're not done
gosh
let me just
put $52 billion
in perspective for you
alright because it's a hard number
to visualize I certainly can
you spend a million
dollars a day
okay yep
it would take you

years to spend

we're a million a day

that's
that certainly
does kind of bring it home
it's just $52 billion
because you hear about those big numbers
thrown about all the time but in real world
numbers when you're talking about
companies like that
that's a lot of money that's down the drain
but wait there's more
oh there's more
think about the losses
that they've incurred
all along for the past
eight years
because they've taken a loss
on every vehicle they've built
every one of them and at one time
Ford Motor Company was losing
and they admit this
$100,000 for
every F-150 lightening
that they've sold
oh my gosh
you can't make that up in volume
no no
so

has actually only written off

now Ford

I'd like this thing to have 200,000 miles on it

we'll keep trucking
your best bet
is a Toyota product
and that includes Lexus
they're the most likely
to do over 200,000 miles
and that's the truth
and look that's not an
indictment of Hyundai
Kia Chevrolet
Nissan any of the rest of them
it's just the Toyotas
their history is
if you do the maintenance
200,000 miles is
almost assured
and that's not true of every car
today
they're all good now for
150,000 pretty much
but if you're going over that
then you got to be careful

about your price range
right now
I would love to see you get a

I would love to see you get a hybrid
and if you do
you'll pay a little more up front
but you're going to get that back
as
you put miles on this thing
the economy on the Toyota hybrid
is substantially better

of all three I've driven the Equinox
but I've not driven
either one of them

it took
a crud on me and so now here I am

if you can find a
Toyota Venza
they're all hybrid they're all
all wheel drive two things that I
really really are
must for me personally
if you can find a used Venza
that's the perfect scenario
it's bigger than the RAV4
I think it's quieter
than the RAV4 and I think it's
I think it rides better than the RAV4
do that I think that's a good start

a better way
or a car that has
a bigger front
door
that she can swing her legs around

be more comfortable
uh we're in the woodlands
we have to go down to
downtown to doctor appointments
and you know an hour is okay
but
and an hour and a half
she can you know be kind of kicking underneath
the dash
so I had a
2006 Accord
unfortunately we got T-Bones
and I found this other one
uh much newer
a 17
and it still works pretty good
but
to get into it we've got a suburban
and I've got some wooden
steps rigged up so she can
sort of work her way up
but we're looking for
a car that has
a reasonable you know
ingress and egress
are you thinking at any point
in the future you're going to have to go to a lift
I'm thinking there I'm already there
okay where we
just wheeler in
and you know have a
you know a sliding door
yeah that's
that's the answer
a van
a minivan is the answer
for you you know
at some point
you may not be able
to help her as much as you can today
and
the van just seems to me like it would be
a great great alternative
now
most people go with
the Honda Odyssey
and and and I used to
when I was in the car business I used to
stock handicap vans
and what we learned with vans
was that Honda had a
lower floor
and it made it easier to put a lift in
so if I were you
and look there's used ones out there
I'd go with a used one
because most of the time they're very
low mileage and much much
cheaper so
I would look at that if I were you
