And you would think with the way things are going up
that that would be the opposite, actually,
with people might be drawn to that,
trying to save a few dollars,
but I guess the market is changing
and sometimes changes means things go away.
Well, and look, you know,
we all hope the tariffs are good for America,
but it's having an effect on the auto industry.
And it's having an effect on prices.
So you hope that you pay more for a new car,
but you get it back in other ways,
like tax cuts and that sort of thing.
That's the hope, but, you know,
nobody can sell a car under $20,000 at all
and make money.
And you don't want your car company going out of business.

My husband and I are looking for a replacement pickup,
and we're looking for a midsize,
and we're thinking about the Tacoma,
but we're looking for something used and with low mileage,
and another thing is we're looking for something
that may be about 22, 23 model,
but I've read a few things that say that there's a couple of things
that might not be good.
They might not be good year models.
What is your opinion on that?
Sherri, I can go online and I can find something bad
about every vehicle ever made.
It doesn't make it true just because it's online.
The Tacoma has probably been
the most reliable pickup ever made.
Wow.
I've seen them with my own eyes go a million miles.
That's not the norm.
The norm is 300,000, maybe 400,000 if you do good maintenance.
We get these keyboard warriors, which is what I call them,
and they get online and they post bad things about a vehicle,
but they don't tell you that they didn't do their maintenance.
They didn't change the oil.
There's legitimate vehicles with problems,
but when I see somebody post something about the Toyota Tacoma,
I'm immediately going to question their legitimacy
because for the rest of the world, the Tacoma has been outstanding.
Now, with that said, the Tacoma holds its value better
than anything else in that segment.
That's not really what you want if you're looking to go used.
What you want is a great vehicle that doesn't hold its value very well.
The other only negative I would say about the Tacoma
is some people complain about the ride,
that it's got a rough ride, and it does.
It's really built for, you know, if you want to go off-road,
you can go off-road with this thing and it'll do great.
The suspension system is stiff.
That's the way they built it.
Probably one of the reasons it does last as long as it does.
If I were doing it, I'd personally look at a Ford Ranger.
And the reason for that is they're a lot cheaper
and it's got a better ride and a quieter interior.
So keep that in mind.
Will the Ford go 300,000 miles?
No, no, no, no, no.
No.
But if you want 150,000 to 175,000 miles and you do the maintenance,
they'll do that without any problem.
And I've seen that many times.
So bear that out.
Give it some thought.

I'm getting more and more of a sense that the dealers are getting very anxious.
They're getting worried to some degree.
Business this month hasn't been as good as I think a lot of people thought it was going to be
because we've had a great year so far.
But now the inventory is starting to really stack up at car dealers.
When that happens, that is the time you get bargains.
It's also the time the manufacturers throw more incentives that direction,
which they did just this week.
A lot of them added incentives on.
So with that, I promise you this, I will tell you when it's a lousy time to buy a car
and I'll tell you when it's a good time to buy a car, it's a buyer's market right now through the end of this month.

Hey Jerry, good morning sir.
Hi buddy.
Appreciate all your service over the years.
Thank you very much.
I got a 2015 GMC Terrain.
Been a good vehicle.
All of a sudden, six months ago, eight months ago, it's beginning to peel on the paint.
It's white in color and that seems to be a dominant theme.
It's all over the internet.
It's not just mine.
It's rampant enough to where big group tried to start.
Maybe a class action lawsuit.
It's got thrown out and denied.
So, the point is, it's an issue.
I have a question on how to rectify this, go to GM and ask or go to the dealer.
What would you suggest?
And to follow that, are you seeing the same issue with later models?
I'm thinking about getting another one, a used one, but maybe another one.
I hear this from time to time on a ton of different vehicles.
Not just GM or Ford or Toyota.
Toyota had a big problem with it five or six years ago.
The problem you're going to run into is the dealer is not going to eat it.
The dealer didn't paint it.
The dealer didn't cause the problem.
They shouldn't eat it.
General Motors, if they do it for you,
they're going to have to do it for a whole lot of people.
So, they ain't going to do it.
I hate to tell you that, but it's 10 years old now.
There is, you know, warranties are for a specified time in mileage.
And General Motors is going to tell you that it's due to outside elements.
You're a car wash, bird dumpings, rock chips that starts, you know,
and rock chips, they do.
They will sometimes start chipping and that'll flake.
And the more you drive, the more comes off, etc.
The only thing I'm telling you, John, is you can try,
but I think you're wasting your time trying to get them to do anything.
You know, you could either fix it or if you're going to trade it,
trade it the way it is and let the dealer fix it.
And because they can do it for a whole lot less than you can
and they'll only knock off their cost.

So anyway, I live in Belleville, Texas and I have probably too much information
that we had a horrible hail storm in March of last year
and destroyed two of our vehicles.
So I finally purchased a 3013 Lexus GS350 with only 42,000 miles on it.

And I love it.
At the same time, for some reason it feels too luxurious for me.
I know that sounds crazy, but I'm used to having it.
I didn't even check to see if the back seats folded down.
That was really dumb and they don't.
And so like if I need to take my dog to the vet or I need to transport
something small, like if I were thinking of selling it outright to an individual
or trading in it, I probably wouldn't get what I would want.
Oh wait, stop there because you might be surprised.
Oh really?
The GS is one of those vehicles that once they quit making them, everybody wanted them.
They didn't buy them when they were new, but now everybody's looking for one.
And there's still a good number of sedan buyers out there, especially with Lexus.
So it's got better value than what you probably think.

Nothing like it.

The Subaru Cross Truck would maybe, what's its longevity?
It's about the same.

And the Equinox, possibly less.
160, 175, somewhere in there, probably not quite as far,
but still a good one, especially if you do your maintenance.
None of those have V6 though, correct?
No, you might find an Equinox going back a few years with a V6,
but if you drive the four cylinders, you're going to see,
you're going to think it's a V6.

They've got that much power these days.

No, not really.
I was just trying to get a feel for how far back you were going when you're looking used.
Well, I was planning to go back to 2013.
It's just that it was in such great condition and low mileage.

And look, I'd rather have a vehicle that's older with lower miles
than a newer one with more miles.
I'll take that any day of the week.
Just because the thing that really ages the car is not the years,
it's the miles and the maintenance has been done on it.
So you're going to want to be sure.

They'll do that.

the desk and they're going straight to the vehicle.
And that saves you over seven, eight minutes on average, they say.

And if you're by the way, in a pro tip, because we got caught when we took a trip, if you
don't have a membership to one of their clubs, like either the point club, like the VIP club
or their, their tears that you do that not only saves you time, you get kind of moved
up to the top of the line.
Also, you accrue points to it's always good, but enterprise did well.
They were number one, just to give you an idea of what we're talking about.

Just want to let you know, thank you.
I bought a brand new car a month ago with your help.

It's my sixth Lexus.
I went from an older ES 300 to a 2025 ES 300 hybrid luxury.

It's a great car, but here's my problem.
So I drove it for about four or five days and I started to have air issues.
Like I was in an airplane.
My ears were just like building up and I thought I had an air infection.
But I went online and I guess it was a common thing with a lot of these new cars.
They have what's called an ANC, noise cancellation in the radio.
Yep.
And I guess for some people, it affects their ears.
I brought it to Lexus.
They're really nice.
They hooked up the computer.
They disconnected it.
But I'm still having little issues because it has the higher upgraded Mark Livingston
sound system and all that.
I'm just still not feeling comfortable.
I don't want to get rid of the car because I'd probably lose on it.
I got a really good deal.
Is there anything you can suggest to try to help out with the air issue?
Have you tried just cracking a window?
I did, but you still get the air noise coming in the car.
So it's not so quiet.
Brother, I don't get stumped very often, but I think you got me on this one.
