And you know, I just see so many people that don't do their homework. They don't. They may go to one of the dealers they hear on this show, but they don't follow the process, which is to talk to a specific person that is listed at carpro.com.

And if you don't do that, I can't guarantee what's going to happen because I can't as much as I would love to change the automotive world. I don't have the power and I'm already too old.

So all I can do is find great dealers and great people inside great dealers and tell you who to talk to.

It's like all the years I own car dealerships when somebody would bring me somebody a customer and say, Hey, my niece is going to contact you. She wants to buy a new Ford Mustang.

Great. Have her asked for me. I'll take good care of her. That's what I'm doing now for you.

And it's just, it's so simple. It's just so easy. And the people that I send to dealerships, they're just looking for a notch on the wall. And by that, I mean, they're not going to put you through the ringer. They're not there to make the biggest profit in the store's history on you.

They just want to sell a car at a decent price. Make sure that you're happy so that you come back and tell me you're happy and get you down the road and get on to the next one.

There's plenty of people coming in the door that they can make money on. They don't have to make money on you.

So I think you had to have been in the business as long as I was to actually be able to figure out how to do this. And I did it. And it's worked for 24 years today.

Today, that's right. Oh, honey voice.

All around good guy. You know, I like that a little bit better. Honey voice sounded just a little weird, but all around good guy.

I try to be that anyway. Yeah, I mean, I've been the on the receiving end of numerous good examples of when I did follow the process and you're right.

You can mention a dealership and go there. But if you're not talking to the right person and do what Jerry recommends, which is on carpro.com, you might not be you may be talking to someone brand new.

My question is about the price and the differences and the features.

Should I consider buying a new 2025 now at the end of the season or wait for a 2026? How would the costs compare and depreciation?

Well, we know the 2026s are going to go way up because of the tariffs.

So, you know, if you're looking to save money, then I'd go with the 2025 because I don't anticipate there being any changes to speak of between the 2025 and the 2026.

2025s was an all-new vehicle. They completely redid it.

So, I mean, down the road, if you keep this thing ten years, it's not going to matter.

Resale value wise, if it's a 25 or a 26, when it's ten years old.

So, get a 25 now. Get a 25 now and save money.

Okay. That's what I want to hear.

Well, I'm glad I could help you and I'll give you another little tip, too.

If you will talk to my dear friend and he's not part of the show, I don't have any dealers there.

Uh-huh. Now, the 2025 will drop in price when the 26 has come out.

There could be some additional rebates. I mean, car prices never go down, period, ever, ever.

But the incentives move. And so, when there's a lot of 2026s left, if there are still 2025s, they'll probably get some incentives.

But don't count on that because we're talking Subaru here.

Subaru doesn't get into the incentives big time like everybody else does.

Guess what? They don't have to. They don't have to.

So, you know, I would be more apt to tell you to find the one that you really want and let Tom help you rather than wait for some more incentives.

I don't think that'll probably work out very well for you.

And a story that is nearing dear to my heart, and I think a lot of people's hearts, that is the situation with AM radio and every vehicle.

So, I think goodness where it looks like we're close to getting that done.

You know, there was a big drive in the past couple of years to save AM radio because there were some car manufacturers, especially EV, who were saying,

you know, we got to take this out because there's interference with the EV and all that kind of things.

All you heard was a bunch of garbody, whatever on your radio.

But thankfully, it looks like two-thirds of the house is signed on to co-sponsor that bill to block automakers from removing AM radios from brand new vehicles.

I'm glad that that is the case and, boy, that's important.

I mean, you may say, well, AM radio, but AM radio, for goodness' sake, it's a lifeline when there's emergencies.

A national emergency is where the network is located right now for AM radio to distribute all that information.

So, we've got to keep that going.

The emergency-large system, if we were to be attacked.

Absolutely, that's where you're going to find out what's going on.

And selfishly, there's a guy that owns an AM radio station.

That comes in handy for you.

It does kind of come in handy.

Yes, it does.

I mean, you look at K&X and Los Angeles, okay?

A huge station.

Yeah, and they've got an FM side, but they've run a different program, I mean, completely.

You're going to miss out on all that program.

You're going to miss a car pro show.

Which is the best one, because I know you guys are a pro.

Let me ask you this, David.

What's the most important thing to you?

The most important thing for us is gas mileage.

Okay.

Then in that case, I would probably tell you to go with the F-150 hybrid.

I think that's going to do.

And the other choice you have for fuel economy is the Chevy Small Diesel.

It gets great mileage, so does the Ford Hybrid.

If that's what you're looking for is fuel economy.

And that's your number one goal, those are your two best choices.

If you're looking for a great ride, I'd tell you to buy a ram.

If you're looking for a truck that'll go 300,000 miles, look at the Tundra.

If you're looking for a truck that's got the nicest interior, look at Chevrolet or General Muggers, GMC.

So that's why knowing what's important to you is the thing that I needed to ask you.

Because they're all good, they're all good trucks.

It's just, you know, what is most important to you?

And if that's the case, I gave you two good choices there.

Yes, I appreciate that.

No, you know, the one that I like is that one with the 5.3 on the Chevy or the GMC.

What would be the best choice?

I mean, you already give me them already.

But the quality of riding you say is four, though.

All right.

But no, for ride quality, just the way it rides, I think the ram is the best.

And I think the Ford is probably got the quietest interior and the Ford's probably the longest lasting.

Although I will tell you, I had a caller on my earlier show that had a 5.3 in a Chevrolet and he was passed 250,000 miles in the truck.

It never had anything go wrong with it.

Wow.

So, you know, I like the 5.3.

I think it's a great engine.

The fuel economy is not going to be as good as the two that I've mentioned to you.

But, you know, at the same time, there's only a couple of miles per gallon difference than any of these trucks.

So, you know, unless you're putting 40,000 miles of your own truck, you're not going to save that much money.

Okay.

Yeah.

Yes.

You know, I went to a car mock.

You know, they got some Chevy there.

Some with like 12, 15,000 miles, but they want like 42, 45,000.

I mean, that's a lot of money even though the mileage is low, might as well you go with the new one.

Oh, yeah.

Now the use truck market is very high right now.

And with my connections from the dealers at my website.

A new one is about the same price with the rebates and incentives that are out there.

So, use my process.

Well, Jerry, here's my question today.

I live in the hill country north of San Antonio.

And I'll be driving to Houston between Houston and San Antonio

regularly in the next few years.

Maybe every two weeks or so.

And as you know, there's a very prevalent deer population in the hill country.

And I really want a vehicle that has some type of night vision assist.

Yeah.

And I'm narrowed out there.

Okay, because I've hit deer in the past and hate to do that

and it's also terribly expensive.

And could be dangerous.

Very dangerous.

And I'm nearly...

No, yeah, it's not good for anybody.

But I've narrowed my choices down to a Panamera, a 2026 Panamera,

or an Audi S7.

Can you give me any insight on this night vision assist

and about your thoughts on those two cars?

Yeah, I had a Panamera with night vision.

I absolutely loved it.

It was last year.

And the system works great.

It overlays on the dash so that when you look down,

I mean, for night vision to really work,

it's got to get your attention, right?

Right.

And where Porsche puts it is perfect for that.

The only other one that I've ever seen that I liked equally as well.

Maybe even a little bit better was Landrovers.

Landrovers night vision was outstanding.

But from, you know, a fun perspective,

I think the Porsche is absolutely the way to go.

And they are making some fantastic cars right now.

I'm a huge Porsche fan.

I've had three or four of those in a row.

Just traded to Cayenne recently for a Mercedes.

But I had that Panamera to this day,

probably my favorite all-time car.

Good news.

What can I do for you, sir?

My wife has a 2015 Toyota Highlander in XLE.

It's a 6-cylinder.

And she loves the car.

And by a 16-year-old grandson who's getting his license to like to buy the car.

It's a good part, good condition.

We have driven a 2025 premium Highlander hybrid.

And it has a 4-cylinder engine.

Yeah.

My wife does not like the sound of a 4-cylinder engine.

And it has less pet.

And she has a heavy foot.

So what would you recommend that I could get that might please my wife?

Oh, hard question because all of us with a heavy foot have different varying degrees of heavy foot.

I'm really surprised that she didn't find the 4-cylinder had plenty of power because I do in the Toyota's and the Lexus's.

I think that I think the power is more than ample.

Are you sure it's just not up in her head that it's a 4-cylinder?

But she's a lady, you know.

I don't want to upset your audience.

But I'm pretty sure that most of it is in her head as far as the noise or the different sound.

Because it does not bother me at all.

Oh, and there's plenty of guys too that don't want like they can't even stand the thought of a 4-cylinder.

I don't care if it's got its power is good and the fuel economy is better and the reliability is just as good.

Then why do I care if it's a 4-cylinder?

I don't care if it's a 3-cylinder.

If it's got enough power, but you're not going to win this battle.

So if I were you, I would look, I would see what she thinks about the new Hyundai Palisade.

And she could also look at the Kia Tell You Ride.

You got to tell you ride Todd.

I do and I love it.

And in sport mode, I have no problem with pep in that car.

I consume and I am out of the gate is great.

Yeah.

Or she could look at a Ford Explorer with a 3-liter 6-cylinder that's putting out 400 horses.

And that thing will get up and go.

Okay, I kind of pulled that up and looked at that a little bit.

And of course we're upgrading to more of the safety features that are on the newer models than what she did.

Then they're all going to have that.

I will ask you one more question.

During our tour around, we looked at the 350 Lexus and it was kind of the same engine.

It was a smaller car than what the engine is.

And the engine sounds about the same.

But we also drove by a Ford dealership and they had a Lincoln aviator in there.

Of course it was, you know, it had plenty of power.

Oh yeah, I'm driving one right now.

I've got one sitting outside.

So you think the Lincoln aviator is a good vehicle then.

Oh heck yeah.

I mean, I'm reviewing.

It's got a one-dust sticker present 91 grand.

Well, actually, I'm getting out on this one for the 2025 and it's $70,000 on the road.

So I thought that was a pretty good price.

Oh it is.

And the one that I'm reviewing is a black label.

It's the top of the line like they always send me.

I wish they wouldn't, but they do.

So you know, yeah, but let me tell you, when I was writing the review,

I remarked about the acceleration on this thing.

And I had the same thing in the explorer.

And you know, if you could talk her into an upper trim level explorer,

it's going to have the same engine and you could save yourself about 20 grand, just a thought.

All right, then I'll have the same premium qualities as far as, you know, the side warning and all that.

Do you want me to?

Oh, on safety?

Absolutely.

Yeah.

Okay.

Just forget safety.

Everything's safe now.

All these vehicles are safe.

Trust me.

I never even think about that anymore because they're all safe.

Governments making sure the interest institute for highway safety is making sure

I don't worry about safety.

I just noticed that between the two oil changes and the oil level is very low.

So it looks like it's burning oil.

Is that the problem with this car?

Yeah, it is.

You need to go to your dealer and let them do an all-consumption.

You're about 40,000 miles.

Hey, I love the Toyota, but I can't afford it.

I'm just a regular guy.

So I'm thinking about going down to Mexico to get the new 2025 Toyota Advanced.

Basically, it's a seven-seater.

It's a basically blamed down version of a Toyota Highlander.

And I wanted to see it has a 1.5 CBT motor.

But will they honor the warranty over here in the States?

Or do I have to get it serviced in Baja, California in Mexico?

Well, I mean, the bigger issue is not the warranty.

It's the registration.

Where are you going to drive this thing?

Well, yeah, I'm going to go back and forth.

Mostly back and forth, honestly.

It gets like 45 miles per gallon.

The only thing I'm worried about is when I go up north to visit my daughter in Berkeley

would be all right on the grapevine with that 1.5 CBT.

Yeah, I mean, it's hard to know to keep up with cars that are sold in America

much less getting outside the borders.

I don't know.

I mean, my limited experience with cars made in Mexico for Mexico.

I'm not talking about the quality of Mexican production down there

because a lot of good car companies have got plants down there

and they do a great job.

I'm talking about the quality of the cars that are built for Mexico.

And it's, I mean, they cut every corner.

That's why they're so cheap.

And they don't have the hiring practices that the US plants have as far as quality control

and the people.

And I can see all kinds of issues here.

The biggest one, again, being if the government finds out that you're driving a vehicle

assembled in Mexico that's not clear for US emission standards.

That could get you in all kinds of deep water.

Well, no, I'll have a Baja plate, Jerry.

I'll be going back and forth, you know, just driving on both sides.

My question was, it's still Toyota.

I mean, I could go down there by islanding or, you know, a route for, you know,

they're just a lot warmer.

I don't know if anything bad to tell you, but I swear I'm not the guy for this one.

I try, I try to answer every question.

But sometimes you guys just, you just kind of throw things at me that I don't know.

Guess what?

I'm not afraid to say I don't know.

And that's the good news.

That car you're looking at may be exactly the wrong car for how you drive.

Am I missing anything as far as what the, what the end of is?

No, not really.

I'm more, I'm equally as worried about people who don't get a 2025

and try to make sense of the price of a 2026 because they're not going to make any sense.

The automakers have done a good job.

I commend them.

I'm the first to give them crap, you know, when they're gouging.

Yes.

But in this particular case with the tariffs that they're eating, they've held the prices on cars very well.

They have.

And I'm proud of them for that.

But guess what?

The day of reckonance here, the 2026's, which we know would go up anyway

because new cars go up every year, new cars never come down, they always go up.

This year, it's going to be a very drastic increase in price.

And it's going to take people a lot of time to get wrapped their heads around it.

And, you know, we're just going to have to wait and see where it goes.

Will it slow the auto industry momentum that's been there now for ever since COVID?

Hard to say.

It could.

Yeah.

I wouldn't be surprised.

I mean, you know, conventional wisdom tells you, yeah, that it's going to you because you're going to see that price increase.

And you're going to say, well, I'm going to go and hold out for a while and ride this thing.

But who knows how long this will go.

Yeah.

We don't know.

And we, you know, it's anybody's guess.

I do know that they're savings out there right now on the 2025's.
