Let's Talk Cars Radio. W KQA Freedom Radio. I'm your host, Big
dabyp hang Out with Cameron Chaos and of course Nate vb Man. It is
a great day so far. I'm gonna say so far because everbody keeps on
saying so far one for a car show. It's a great day for radio
show. So right this second, you know we've had like it was supposed
to rain out by us, like all week long. I would supposed to
gettle rain showers, but it didn't really happen. I think I got maybe
like I was like somebody sneezed on me trump above, like on one day of the week, and that was about it. Uh. We've been out
here on the farm working diligently in the field and all kinds of stuff.
So I've been trying to get some projects done around here, and we've been out in the Mega Garage. I know I haven't mentioned the Mega Garage in
a while, but we were out in the med garage doing some work out there, getting things. Got a bunch of stuff I'd bought and just hadn't
had time to install, and still got to do all the compressor lines in there and stuff that I haven't got around too because I just been throwing chords in the farm ises on the floor and dragging him over to work on.
But I have have all this stuff to get all that stuff together and make it right. I just busy, busy. You guys know how it goes.
And of course I told you guys four I f you don't feel good, sometimes you can't do it unless you feel good. So, yeah,
lots of projects going on, but right this second Hopefully the weather continues to hold off and it ends up being a good weekend all the way through.
I know there's a lot of different car shows and stuff that are popping up.
People sent me stuff for things. Don't forget you guys have Is it
next week? Is the hepcat Honeys? I believe on Sunday? Is that
Sunday next week? I believe that's when their their show is. But you've
got some other stuff going on, little car shows going on throughout the area.
Some of the bigger ones to start to pop up. Hey, everybody's
like, oh, you know, in July seems to slow down a little bit for car shows. It does a little bit, I think because July
is like your hottest hot. You know, some people kind of tend to
back off a little bit in July because it just burning hot. Like it
has been scorch your here and all across America. I've been watching the temperatures.
It's been crazy. I can't imagine, I tell you, so something
kind of car related. I'd say automotive related, or at least engine related.
It was so hot this week with the temperatures, so I had the tractor out in the field and every time I parked the tractor and set the bucket down for any long period of time to use the baco. When I
picked the bucket up, the grass was burnt because the bucket was so hot.
The metal had gotten so hot from it just being out there on the in the dead sun that the bucket heated up and every place that that bucket had laid down on the ground burnt the grass. So I had to stop
laying the bucket down because usually I laid the when I used the backo, I lay the bucket down just to give me the extra so it doesn't drag around. You know. I saw that extra weight down on it, right,
and uh yes, I had to keep keep pulling. But remember to
keep pulling the bucket up when I was digging, because I burnt my beautiful grass like four times with the bucket. I got a bunch of dispots,
now I did. They'll come back. But it's like I would have never
in a million years ever thought about it being that hot. And then you
start thinking about that's when you start hearing about the temperatures of like cars, and you know they ever like walked up in the dead heat and just like brushed against the body panel of your car and about scorched your hand and off.
Yeah, so imagine how how are you getting the car after a hot day? You're like, so imagine that bucket out there in that sun when
I'm working and then then setting it down in the grass and it's just burning the grass. But you know, you got the girl that cooked a loaf
of bread in her um mailbox. Ninety seven year old lady. Um,
I think somewhere up in the west just cooked a full loaf of breastre.
Not a girl that's a full grown woman woman. The woman that created a
loaf of bread in her mailbox. It came out pretty That's pretty impressive if
you think about it. It was really impressive. But no, I mean,
so the temperatures have been kind of crazy. Um, Like I said,
all christ I people are looking at one hundred and one hundred nineteen before you even start thinking about any of the variances that they used to get hotter temperatures and stuff. You know, well, because you had you man,
you had this and in factor all this stuff, and it feels like one hundred nineteen in Vegas, I think is what was their tent? Like,
it is what they were, which would be like I guess a record break or something like that for hottest temperature. I think nineteen degrees like is where
they were talking they were supposed to hit. I mean, so of course
with it being hot, I started doing what I like to do and start talking to my friends of all the different garages and stuff, and I was just like, hey, so you know what is uh? What's it look
like? They're like heat related breakdowns, like everything heat related breakdowns, And
it's one of those things. Once again, you fall back into it if
you're not. You know, I'm gonna beat that drum because you guys,
I know you guys love to hear about it so much. If you're not
paying attention to your car on a regular basis, there's stuff underneath that hood that may be great when the temperature is cooler and it's functioning just fine, right, but now underneath this heat and you put uneath all the different pressures and everything, uh, that part that may have seen enough like fuel injector or stuff like that, anything that you really don't want to get really really hot. They're already on their way out the door, or almost like gonna
be on their way out the door. So now you're having breakdowns. Now
with that folded into the fact that let's just say, on average, you have heading cars that you see for this one particular problem, whatever problem it is, and there's ten cars a month that you're going to see for that problem. Right right now, you're seeing an influx of say fifteen cars a
month for that particular problem. Times all the garages are out there, all
seeing the same problems because the heat related. So you call for parts and
what's not available? Parts? Parts? I mean they're not because like you
know, people are just cars are breaking down and parts are getting crazy.
But do you think that, and it's about to say this, but do you think the word back order has now came comfortable in the automotive industry.
I thought the word back order became really popular fifteen years ago because it's like every time I call for something like, well, that's on national back order, that's on national back order, and the last look at I understand national back order. I do, and most of you guys probably listen to the
show Understand National back Order. But if you're not in directly in the automotive
business, you're an enthusiast, you're not having to call a part supply warehouse one hundred times a day looking for parts for all the different cars you're trying to fix. The problems is that it's like one store has the parts that
for this one car, and then other store has it parts for this other car, and they just stockpile because they don't use you know, that's that store might not do that many repairs for that subject. What they do is
they so mostly auto parts stores look at the influx of how how quickly that part goes off their show, so they keep those more of those parts.
That's just way it works, makes sense. You want to keep over inventory,
right, you're not always trying to order, right, well, you're not trying to keep it mutton stuffing, but if you're not using it, and then you got all this bastub inventory and then other people can't use it, and that's what kind of creates this whole chaos. It is. It
is. It's one of those crazy things where it's just it runs back and
forth. So you're having this influx of cars breaking down to heat. Then
you have, like I said, if everybody sees five, if every autograph sees five more cars to the same problem, you can understand how parts become even harder to get their hands on it. And then you get to ask,
right, you're like, hmm, but we have days shipping everywhere we go, So what's the back order for? Because you're you're pushing parts out
anyways, right right, so like where all the parts going? Are you
really using all the parts that you're making right off the line. Well,
here's the thing. If you're not, if you're let's say, let's say
you have a production line, I can't. I don't. I'm by no
means an expert on the way things work. I've just seen. There may
be a company that produces twenty different parts out of their out of their warehouse or whatever. Right, so production run is of this particular part for the
first two weeks of the month maybe, or maybe like a week of the month or whatever, and then they switch over and they produce this part and they go to this So they move their line and keep on producing parts, and they start back at the beginning again start producing parts. If there's an
influx, there's nothing you can do because your production has already been set in place. You already have your your set schedule how you're going to produce stuff.
You have to you have to move the dies and the moldings and all that kind of stuff around to the next part going this fast. And as
you already know, as you know you you already have, you have a production manager. His job, you know, is to sit down and figure
out all out. You know, exactly what you guys are going to produce
and how many of them. If all of a sudden there's an influx in
the middle of the month, but you're already through your run of things to produce things. You're not running this part again until the beginning of next month.
So now that's where the shortages. And I'm not saying that's exactly how
it works, but I kind of understand a little bit of how some things work just from having tours over the years of part manufacturers and stuff like that, and how they produce parts and how they have a schedule. For the
best thing about being an automotive world and being involved with a lot of the companies I was involved with over the years is I got an opportunity to go to a lot of places that do make parts and supply parts. It's like
that kind of see how the operation work. Get a little bit understand because
I used to get frustrated as much as a customer gets frustrated. They here,
it's gonna be four or five days before I need to get that part in for your car, and it's a breakdown that the car cannot run.
Okay, So it's not like you can, like while bring it back to you. When you get an opportunity to get that part in and then bring
it back, will schedule in which I love to do for customers if they bring the car into it and I see something and I'm like, oh, well it's gonna need this, but the car is still running. Let's go
ahead, We'll order the part. You put a little money down the part.
That way, I know you're come back because some people, you know, they don't play fair. So you got the money down on the part
and you let them go out so they still have use to their car until that part comes in. Hopefully that that part doesn't you know, completely break
whatever. You know, you ever want to put a car out there just
think's gonna leave somebody straining it. But you always want to make sure that
somebody has used to their card. So if you could do that, that
helps a little bit. But we're not talking about those times. Type breaks
out downs that you see during heat months are usually a failure. It means
that part was already weak. The heat one hundred percent did you in and
there's nothing you can do. Now the car is inoperable and it has to
sit there. And now when you hear the bad news, let's be four
or five days before I can get that part fix your card. That's the
last thing anybody wants to hear. I know, raising two boys, if
you told me, well, I'm not gonna have your car back to you for at least two weeks because it's gonna take me six days to get the part here, and then I got to fit it back into rotation to be able to fix it. That's how out of garages work. And then just
makes sense. They just can't let your car sit in a bay in pieces
until the part comes in. It's not gonna work that way. That car
has to go out of the garage and another car has to go into that part comes in. And then if they have that car part and all the
parts are there, when your part does come in, they have to finish putting those cars back together before they can get your car back into the shop.
And this is what consumers don't understand a lot of times that that how all that works, and the constant moving and the fact that they get upset with that. Camera smiles because he knows because topics. So I just want
to say I think some people forget though. If your car's in for service,
call your insurance company. Your insurance company will provide you a rent tool.
Sometimes times your most sometimes, but most insurance companies when you go purchase a policy comes with rent tool and transfer up to a certain amount of money under a certain amount. It's to a certain amount, and they will cover
the rent tool for the v Just call. I tell people all the time.
They're like, my cars and for service. I'm like, did you
reach out? They're like, do you have a loaner vehicle? And I'm
like, we don't, but do you Did you reach out to your insurance company? I'm like, tried them and they're like why. I'm like,
because you're paying for insurance that has rent to under it. I'm like,
let me guess you have a full coverage on the twenty twenty three. Yeah,
I'm like, you got rental. I promise called them. You're making
payments on that car. You got full coverage insurance. Most likely there's a
rental period somewhere. Yes, no, I get it. Like I said,
you cannot anticipate when your cards are gonna break down, guys, and when the heat comes, heat and extreme colds of the two things. If
you should know this by now that we just destroy a card. Like I
said, the biggest problem we have is we get in our car, return the key, it goes down the road and that's we just don't think about it until we have a problem. But the heat really does, I mean
make a beating on cars, So I said, I talked to shops and stopped in a couple of shops this week, and everything that was there, for the most part, was there because of a heat related breakdown, right, I mean it was just the heat. It just something that got overlooked
or maybe put aside, or maybe the money wasn't there or whatever it may be now is at your doorstep. Here's the biggest thing. This is always
a nitpick for me. I got to I want to ask you, what
do you think the second thing cars are coming in for. If it's not
the AC, but it's still heat related, but it's still here. It's
if it's not the AC so here they're overheating. Yeah. Water pumps yeah
yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Those are the second thing that people see
coming in more because of it. I will say a lot a lot of
times that people don't like. If you're driving your car and you're not one
of those people that check around, you don't really know much about your car.
Always look at the RPMs, always look at the temp of the engine, and so those are big indicators if your engine's failing, well it is you. Here's the thing you you know, belts, hoses, all those
kind of things one affected by heat. I mean, like, yeah,
they expand that's right, the contract. I mean, if you've got a
problem with a hose, you're probably gonna know it. If the extreme temperatures
out there, If you have a car, car that's starting to have a potential problem with the water pump keeping up or whatever it may be, maybe the impellers starting to get worn. I don't know, can be any any
fact you got a small leak that you didn't even realize was there. He's
gonna expose it, trust me, it's hers on a more stress. I
don't know how many of the times you guys do it. But if I
pull in the driveway sometimes and I feel a different vibration, I pop my hood. I don't know, it's like, hey, I think I might
need a motor mount again. Like we just they don't go bad that quick.
I pop open the hood and I listen for the sound differences. And
there has been times where I pop the hood and I'm like, man, that's ticking, just a little bit away, time for an oil change.
Once again, though, most people are not in tune with that car because the radioson, they can't hear anything. And then if something especially like a
lot of times, noises that you hear may not even be a problem.
It could just be working a little harder. It could be its cold,
multiple things. They could not even be a problem. It's just making a
little noise and something that happens all the time. Look, it's no different
than than our human psyche. We get a little hot, another collar,
something has to pop. Eventually we blow off steam. Cars are gonna do
the same thing. I will also say it too, like when you park
your car, do yourself a favorite and back the car out and look at the driveway. You know, if you see oil spots water spots. Hey,
and I know, guys, I gotta take a quick commercial break.

Hey, guys, welcome back to the show. Hey here here's a
funny one for you. Don't touch people's cars. I heard you do it.
Well, it makes no It makes no sense for you use the travel distance as a reminder to do your oil change. It doesn't make any sense
when your car already comes with a capability. It does if I if I'm
no a right, So the car is programmed from the manufacturer. You trigger
certain intervals so we get it I understand that, and you can reset that.
You can, yes, you can stand, Yes you can't really, yes you can. You just go back and set it back to zero on
your right that all cars about that. But at the same time, my
service intervals come up based off of the mileage you can reset. I don't.
I don't know if I see I don't know. I don't know if
he can set reset his service on his car. You can. I know
you can do all the tires in loyal Life, but I don't know if you can do. But there's certain reminders will pop up on him. Yeah,
there's like letters. There's a A one or a one two or a
one five seven, and those numbers and letters. If you guys didn't know,
by the way, is letting you know what to do on the vehicle buy certain mileage. If you're wondering what we're talking about. During commercial,
these two start arguing about the fact and I get it. So Nate barl
Cameron's car and saw that he hadn't reset the hit the reset for the service.
Hold on, hold on, he didn't for a reason, what you didn't Cameron camera companies that he brought. He didn't reset the service intervals apparently
apparently no, so, so Nathaniel thought he was doing camera a favorite by resetting him. But Cameron had him set to a certain thing because he was
off an interval, so he didn't want to reset him. So he knew
by tracking the exact mileage trip mileage on his car or when it was done, so he could get everything lining back up. But somebody you borrowed his
car. I thought he was doing favorite reset everything, And now Cameron's like,
I'll let you borrow my car. Why were you touch the things?
And today's the first day I've been able to step back in my car.
My thing was because camera talks about burning gas a lot. So my thing
was, when I'd come here, I want to see how much gas I burn. I want to know if it was, if it exactly it left
foot or you know, we know camera has an issue. We know we
told camera bunch of tizes he needs places wise. Yeah, so there's a
there's a there is a like, um, there's kind of an in and out O two censor problem with Cameron's car. Uh, it's it'll come on
and they'll stay off for a long time and then they'll come back on again.
So I told him, I like, it's it's O two cents.
Every We've already scanned it. You guys know in the in the mega garage,
we have you know, everything we need here, just like where I go auto garage. So Caaron brought it in a while ago. I scanned.
I said, you got no two centser is getting ready to go bad.
I'll reset it. I reset it and I didn't come on it for
why am I in this car? So you know it come on for months
and then don't interaction. I get with Cameron's cars. If it comes over
here and something wrong, then he's like, hey dad, my car.
It's an after the fact, and so, um no it does. But
uh so I scanned. I'm like, you know, I got two centser
was going bad. Just need to change it out. Um, I think
for whatever reason. But here's the thing I believe, when everybody's like these
O two censors, don't don't just go bad, you know, for no reason. You guys, remember Cameron had problem with the car where we went
through the flood and he got water in it and stuff like that. People
all burned through the law of that. So I think that's what prematurely made
in the cars like fifteen years old. Well, besides that, the car
is in good ship. But perfectly, I'm just no, it doesn't because
I want to see how much gas I understand. I got it, and
so I did pretty well. I got like nineteen where yours was like sixteen
and so, but I noticed and it confirmed the O two censor because when I'm sitting in traffic, I burn a lot more gas than we're actually driving the car, right, which just basically verified are no, if you just replaced two centsor like I told him to do a while ago, he probably would get better gas. But I was worried more about an injector issue with
it at one point in time, so I was trying to track it and follow it for him as well. My car. I start my car fifteen
minutes before I ever drive it, you know that I start, which would make sense if it's burning more gas. And every time I step in my
car, I'm like, it seems like I have less gas than I left the car with, you know, And now that makes sense. It's burning
more gas when I'm actually idle rather than going down the road at No, I got it. I got it all right. Well, here's the things.
Let's just say that you're driving your car and you're you know, let somebody else drive it, and you guys have AC problems. So, like
I said, we're talking about it being hot and all the woes of it, all of being hot. What do you think the average repair costs is
on an AC system right this second? Oh? Fourteen that's it's a brainwaysy
four dollars. We talked about repair or place in the system repair. I'd
go with Nate probably four or five hundred dollars just for fatting free on and doing a system check. Five if you actually have a place apart, I'm
thinking you're starting that fourteen hundred dollars. Okay, so three four average costs
for if you do just pump it down and refill it because you me back back, Yeah, yep, refill about two to three hundred dollars right this second. Because it cost is up on materials. Um if you got to
go in and do a say a compressor or something online, you're looking probably between six and eight. And if you got to do a complete system,
you could be up to nineteen hundred bucks right now if you have to go through and that's you know, compressor, all the you know, we hold all the works, orfice tube. You know, if you going through and
did everything on it, and it's an Apple BDG shops that's taken care of you now, dealership no, no, no. Yeah. So it's kind
of anteresting me because once again AC systems are failing. People like, oh,
it's not blowing the way it is. I got in the car the
other day and I swore in the new car the AC wasn't working, but it was just so hot in it that it took a second for it to really cut through, just the dense heat inside the car. That's another thing,
like the air that it's using is from the outside, so it's only going to go. Yeah, you put on recycled and recycled, so it
takes a while to regenerate. And so I get it. But it's amazing
to me just how things seem to have changed. And once again there's a
part shortage on AC parts because everybody's trying to fix the ACS right now.
So it's like you could drive your car without a C and you wait for the parts to come in. But I mean, the way the AC at
that point you got is two sixty AC and if you don't know what that is, that's two windows d down driving sixty. I mean that's only AC
available apparently, So I mean you know they create Well, here's the thing, there's adapt You remember how a right flashbath. Remember how we were talking
about the crazy wacky like accessories. You that weird fan you talk about that.
Somebody came out with a fan. You can put it in your window
and roll the window up and it's curved perfectly so when you're going down the road it picks up the air and actually, yeah, and it like has No, No, I'm not, I'm not doing that. I've seen it.
I've seen this wacky thing and no I'm not. I saw crazy.
Uh. I've seen you know, home acs putting windows. We've all seen
pictures of them. If you've never really seen one live, I'm sure you've
stile seen the pictures making the front of them online where people put home acas in their window and just just I've never seen than in the window. There
was a link in town car that was running around here in town for the window unit in the car had a house window unit in the back window.
He had it all cocked in and he had the cords running, and he had a generator that he ran that was on a handicapped like assist trailer that you put in it in the jack right back, and he had the look, it's sit there running and that's how it went by them. Buy I've
seen a video on that winter time you got AC and the and the uh no time, summertime you got AC. In the wintertime, you just flip
the AC system around and you got heat. I mean, look, I'll
give you, I'll give you one. So my sister had a Chevy Chevet,
uh take you back a little waste and that she was driving for a while and this is you know what in the eighties, and the heat was horrible in that car. The heat was completely horrible in that car. And
my dad wet and just put a tube from the engine bay into the He used to use the engine heat to blow the engine heat into the car to one of the car. It worked. The problem was was there was no
way to turn it off SOT right so once like so in the wintertime like once you once you're driving along and you're like, if you make that drive because my sister on it, you could, but that wasn't how it was wired up. And it would get hot in there, like the point like
now you're rolling down the windows because it's so hot. Like man got one
side her but it was in Yeah, that car got destroyed. Unfortunately that
car didn't last very long. But it was a it was a cool I
mean, like, look, people try different things. I mean, I've
seen some weird devices developed in cars make things work. But I mean,
at the end of the day, it's just seas. Maybe I understand the
money side of it, but I couldn't do it. I got to fix
my car the right way. I couldnt take a window unit and put put
it in my window. And have you guys seen like the new little square
ice box things that they make that make a see like you could throw one of those in your car, I guess. But the cooler ones right now,
they got these other ones too. Now that you put ice and water
in it, there's like a little square that blows out. Yeah. Yeah,
it's almost like the same thing. It take the ice from the cooler
there is, but this thing's like like like the size of less than a shoe box. Yeah. Yeah, they made its interesting. Yeah, it's
pretty crazy. So, like I said, there's just there's different ways and
different things you can do. And but I guess if you needed that,
I don't know if that thing. I would like to get one of those
just put in a car and see if it's strong enough to cut through the heat in the car right to actually make a difference and do a temp thing on it. Because a lot of things people don't realize there's different tricks and
trades. Do you think dry eyes would be a pretty good what is wrong
on the cost? Though? Maybe I don't know. Maybe maybe it will,
maybe it work. I don't know. Maybe it'd be pretty foggy in
the car because I guess I to be dry eyes, you have to put on the road. Well, I guess dry take that. Dry ice works
regardless, it's when you put water on it is when it becomes more so.
I don't know there was so we just do the cat into the room.
But you could, like, um, I was curious to see if one of Thosettle cques would take a thing. But like a lot of people
don't ever think about, Like I rolled down all my windows, like when it's hot, all my windows down, and as soon as I pull all the driveway, I run the air all right, let the air run through the car for a second and I roll the windows back doun that hot air.
So I can see the one where people to do the door scene like they do the weird thing. They open up one door and they open and
close the pressures put no, it's supposed being when you close the door, but the pressure pushes the hot air out the open window on the other side.
I've seen look it up. It's weird. I've never tried that one,
but I'm seeing people open up their car door and make traffic and I'm just like, oh, you don't got no asty. Here's the thing.
If he comes down to the end of it, you know, and all be all kind of thing. The easiest things just fix the AC and get
it done. I know money's tight for a lot of people. You know,
people are watching their pennies. I think everybody is. It doesn't matter
what your financial status as ever, is just kind of watching their dollars a little bit more than they normally do. But keep in mind, if you
do feel something in the AC, it's better to have a repair and on the maintenance side of things and let maintain it than is to have a major breakdown repair. And that's where things get expense us. So if you think

back to your host Dave to Watch. Hey guys, welcome back. So
here's a question for you. It seems to be the posing question of a
lot of things when it comes to car sales. So as I told you
guys, you know, we kind of been watching the car sales a little bit basically because Nathaniel's been still looking for a car, and some of the cars that you know year streak running um. Availability of car seems to be
less. We all know that. So you know, you just can't get
you if you have a certain type of car you're looking for, a lot of times you can never even see one because they don't have one on the lot. So it kind of brought the question this week of is it really
worth like waiting on a waiting list for a card if you really want that car? And what brings that back up is if you guys hadn't watched this
week, you see the cyber truck's first production model rolls off. I think
I just gotta take a look at the notes here. So with I'm the
cyber truck, if you have it, they're gonna do over three hundred will be produced what a year? So three hundred fifty thousand I believe it's gonna
be produce a year. So they're gonna slowly roll it out. Three thousand
vehicles a year, Yeah, three hundred for the truck and so but only but one point six million and then has you know right right right pre registered?
So at three hundred and some up thousand vehicle of those being produced a year, And if you do the math as an Athenian Light like you'll you'll be five years before the last person sees seize their card. Consider the fact
that they are you know, there are two thousand nineteen essentially model IF when it was created. Now write two thousand and twenty gonna be two thousand and
twenty four, right, and the price tag hasn't even really been an official who only had the statistics from twenty nineteen when they launched it. Forty thousand
for the cheap end, seventy thousand for the high end. Right, Well,
here's and all the adapters we've seen the come out for the truck while we're waiting for it. But so you ask the question, right and stuff?
Do you think for people waiting that long, do you think that the time is gonna pass cyber truck? I think not. I think it gives
them a pretty good opportunity to become Does it become a niche vehicle? Though?
Though? Is it? Are you buying it just because you say that
you have it? Like I got I have? I bought it just so
I can say that I have one? You know? Has that become it?
So it's the reason why you're buying it because technology to a certain degree is going to increase within if you're on the five year end of it.
But you gotta you know what I mean. It's like we were in this
predicament right now where cars are really expensive and then when you you know, buy a brand new car, you're twenty percent off the lot. Ye bad
predicament where we're producing so many cars that the car that you buy isn't worth which you bought it. That was the reason why manufacturers cut back on how
many different type of vehicles they produced instead of having like fourteen different lines now or you know, they're scaling back having the last six or seven. But
yeah, but you understand what I'm saying. That's the reason why they scaled
it back because they had so many cars left that just they couldn't get off the lot. Before you know it, you're you're trying to blow them out
the door and all that they want to get away from doing that, right, and when they find car more exclusive and so I get it owning something being more of an exclusive right to own something. But with that being said,
we've messed up the process of Now you just can't go get what you want right, you know what I mean? Now you have to sit and
wait forever. And my question with it is is is the way worth it?
Because if I buy a car, like I told you guys, you know, I remember when hot they still are apparently from what I just heard recently the Odyssey in the Santos store hot hard to get your hands on.
Um. But if I buy it and it doesn't end up my hands until
almost two years later, and within two years something cooler has come out, you know, and now I want the next cooler thing, just like cell phones. It is the cell phone thing it is. I think for them
to really blow it out proportion and stuff, they need to. If their
only relation in three year and stuff or whatever the term you know they're doing for wise and stuff, they should upgrade them every year, almost like how you know every car comes out right exactly Therefore it isn't market But the problem with it is with doing that, then you've run into the production thing of having to retool the assembly line for it to take whatever. Not necessarily not
because you're not changing the body. You're not changing. But if you are
just changing small things, you're upgrading, the seats, you're upgrading, that's you're all part of production though. Yeah, but it's a very small it's
not. It really isn't. You think it is, but it's really not.
When you get into things that it takes quite a bit, right, So it kind of brings us into the into the subscriptions, you know that we were talking about where they were going to put all the pieces into the right. So thinking about that a little bit more, what if they gave
you two options and they said, you can either pay a subscription month to month, or you can just buy out the technology full right, buyout technology.
But the problem with it is buy out technology one all the time.
I just want to own the technology right to it all. People don't have
the money to fully buy that piece of technology at that time. And then
then the car that you're buying is out of your league. That's when those
monthly then the car you're buying is out of your league. I don't mean,
and I'm not saying that in a wrong list. That's like somebody's saying,
I want everything that Lexus has, but I'm gonna go buy a UGO.
I mean, you know, I mean like this, you know what I mean, And then maybe I'll work my way up to that, outfitting my ego with everything the Lexus has at some point in time cool. But
it's the thing about it is you pay to play, you just do.
Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what it is. You pay to play, and
you either gonna pay now you're gonna pay later. That's the difference than buying
a really nice car and buying a car that's mid grade or buying one of the lesser value cars. You're paying to play the car. You pay a
lot of money for it. Not This isn't always a case, but if
you're buying in certain realms of like say Honda Toyota, you're gonna pay that Honda Toyota price versus paying another manufacturer is lesser than them's price because you're paying now or pay later. It's one of those things like, Okay, well
I got my car. It only cost me. I bought a brand new
kai for this so many times I bought my car brand new and it was only sixteen thousand dollars. And how much did you pay for years? Okay,
well I pay thirty eight for mine. That's okay. So but here's
a different. Here's the different. I bought longevity. You know, I'm
paying for it up front instead of paying it long term to keep it, fix it and keep it going down the road. You not just that,
right, So like kind of going off the basis of when we're looking at the challengers, right and stuff. You know, you could get the base
Challenger with no packages, right, no decent amount of money. But if
you wanted all the accessories and all those packages. By the way, you
can't really buy separately an ad right exactly. Now you're up twenty more thousand
than what there was twenty seven thousand dollars difference between one of the Challengers that we looked at versus the fully loaded It was about twenty seven thousand dollars difference.
But so like that's where we're talking about. Like, you know,
if you decide to go all out and stuff you, honestly, I feel like, do better in the long term, right, because your car isn't worth more you do and you don't. So here's the thing. So you
guys know, I've always been advocating for the manufacturers to build a complete base model. And I told you've heard me say, but I people listening to
the show for years, I've said that they could sell a lot, especially when it comes I'm talking on sports cars basically and muscle cars and stuff.
If you took that car and you built that car, bear necessity, spare necessity. But yeah, anyway, but there you do that. But there
you do that and no, no they don't. If you bought it completely
stripped down and then you could add everything to the car as time goes on, would you be better off one way other? And stage kitties bad you
guys can't hear the stage kitty? Um? If you if you could do
it, and you could buy it complete strip down and you could add the parts, there is money be saved. But here's the thing. Are you
gonna go with manufactured parts? Are you gonna go with after market parts?
Then if you install it yourself, are you saving money by doing the work on it yourself. There's a lot of money to be saved in a lot
of different conventional ways, Like if you gave me a complete strip down.
Let's say I want to buy a camera and I want to one of the coolest commerce was and I could buy it the best motor, the best everything, but I didn't want all the interior trim, goody goody stuff that comes with it. I didn't want a crazy appearance package. Maybe whatever it may
be, because I was gonna do that stuff later on my own. Okay,
let's just say that's what it is. Do if I bought it all
twenty seven thousand dollars up for if I spent fifteen thousand dollars and I did it creatively. Rather I bought second hand six month old part because the guy
decided that he wanted to take it off his car and he didn't want that.
Now I got that part at half the price. And everybody's like,
oh, but it's used. It is, but it isn't. I'm just
talking about a way to build a car in different ways. So you're not
giving that option. You're not giving person the option to have control of their
destiny if you only offer it. You can only get the car made this
way with all those options right now. You can't get the other way.
And if you try to buy it separate, then it's got to go in and we gotta change stuff in the wire and harns. We're gotta do this
because it didn't have When you start getting that, what's the best way.
I still think the best route is to sell somebody the car completely stripped down with all the one wire and harness, well not everything there's and then let them do if they want to do aftermarket or whatever. We save the money.
I'm not gonna lie see different clips just with the radio different That's why BMW does. Though. When I bought my BNW, a lot of it
didn't come with any the packages and but all but the wire harns. But
therefore wire harness was all there for so luckily. That's why I like,
you know, a little bit of order cars, because you know you can get the order car for cheap and you can go to like Junkyard and just pick off all his parts. But not everybody. Not everybody's a gear head
like we are. They're not like most people. Don't most people who somebody
shop. We're gonna argue with me. I'm gonna say sixty percent of the
people who own nice cars like muscle cars and stuff like that, they're not wrenching on them they themselves right, they are letting somebody else wrench on them.
Or don't understand you guys, there are certain things that like I get to the realm of that's not my deal. And I'm a gear head through
and through, but I know it's cheaper, faster and a better idea than somebody that does this particular thing all the time to let them do it on my car. Everybody's like, oh, I can't believe you didn't do that
yourself. I'm like, I could have, but in the long run,
I took the risk of it cost me more money, Like I'm not going to rebuild my own heads and stuff like that on an engine coup I mean, belt on my car. But I have the same time, I'm not
gonna do it. Well, no, no, I mean I know I
am. I'm doing it. I'm doing Camera's probably not unless I'm standing over
him and making them do it. But but it's a little harder if you
want to, you know, pass there's there's certain things. There's certain there's
certain things. But I'm not a pro in or I don't feel comfortable,
or I realize that there is one mistate will cost a lot, right, right, And I'm like, look, I can just let somebody go ahead and do that because that's what they do every single day, and as far as my money value goes, it's smarter for me to spend my money in that fashion. I just I can't get around the fact of waiting of ordering
a car. Waiting for a car because it has all these different options and
all that kind of stuff on it, and then I finally get it, and by time I get it, it maybe two years down the line and something better came out. Something came better. It's now out that Now I
kind of want that, but there's no way to switch and swap them parts and stuff like that, and you know, to put me back. My
car's two years old. Essentially by time I get it, all right,
it's a two year old technology, and the quickness of technology is switching over.
I don't know. You guys, tell me is it worth waiting in
line for it? Because you know, like I'm all about the cybertruck.
We've been talking about it. I thought it's been interesting since the day they
introduced. I thought it was cool. But at the same point in time,
how for me dollar value? Sometimes it's hard for me to get past
that of I waited. Now I gotta have it. It's going to be,
you know, older technology, so there has to be something there to to mitigate that. But you got a thing though that you know, they
only did what one hundred dollars it is, one hundred dollars into it, So you only lose one hundred dollars, don't you guys tell me some of what you guys think texting, messaging, email and tell me on that topic.

Dave Palach. Hey, guys, welcome back to the show. So here's
an interesting question for you guys. You guys see the video that came out.
It was talking about inspection stickers and the lengths of people are going through to you know, get out inspections, well fake their inspections. They make
a fake spec inspection. There was another picture that came up this last week.
I think it's in New York where they basically like like hand wrote it like like it looks like it was like a sharpie and kind of came with the right colors and put in the front window. I've seen a lot over
the years of people trying different things. I've seen where people have taken them,
uncopied them. Let me let copies in the front window. Let me
ask you questions. Less trouble if you run without an inspection sticker rather than
if you make a fake one. Right, no, no, right,
no, yeah, if you didn't if you didn't know that, like if you didn't know like fake in inspection stickers, a lot worse getting caught without one. But it seems that they kind of do like a little pole and
stuff like that, And I get there like, you know, well, money's tight and people are watching their money, so they're not doing the car a pair. Therefore they can't. If you have it in the state that
you're in, you have car inspection. If you don't know what I'm talking
about, you guys probably have small or something like that. Here in Virginia,
we have state inspection. Car has to go through state inspection and to
pass for certain things to be out on the road, and if not, then you're not supposed to drive your car. So with that being the case,
and then it's subjective. On top of that, you get into that
and I always hate that word, but that's really what it is. It's
a little subjective because you know, one state inspector maybe look at it this way. Another state inspector may who's now going to be your buddy. Who's
the state inspector's gonna say well, I would have never failed you for that.
So then you've become in the argument back and forth. And I always
hate that all those things exist. With that being said, I understand state
inspection. I support state inspection, and a lot of my car enthusiast friends
are not gonna like that. I say that, But when you have a
family, you're driving down the road. I want to know the car driving
next to me somewhat has been looked over to make sure that something is going to fly off it or it's going to fall apart next to me. Why
it's driving with me and my family and then cause me to have a wreck that can injure my family. Last reason why I do like state inspection because
it's a set of eyes on the car. If you just can't keep up
with your own maintenance on your own or don't care to whatever it is, I could be a perfect example if you go to some of the states that don't have state inspections in the car and look what's driving around the road.
That's all the time you go visit states if you like to go on car trips like I do, and I always know what I'm in one of those states. Usually this As I'm driving down the road and I look over and
the car looks like I can't believe it's going down the road like that, I'm like I cannot, but look, look, look, look, and I'm like looking at the car, I'm like, there's no way there's state inspection here. There's no way that car is going down the road and sure
enough, you know you'll look it up and you're like, Nope, no state spection. When you get pulled over, do police know if you get
your state inspection, does that show up? So you know what I if
I know there's the new day. It used to be everything. It used
to be done by paper and then it went into the system. Now with
a new database that's actually out there, I think they can access that new database and look to see if it has a current state inspection. I did
want to want to let somebody know out there. Um to the woman that
told me I was wrong, I hope you're listening. Um, Yes,
you can have an inspired inspection sticker up to three months after they inspired date.
It's been the laws I'm looking at it right now. Is the COVID
law they put it in place. No, it's actual Virginia laws. I'm
looking at it right now. As well as if you get a rejection sticker,
you have up to fifteen days rejection sticker. I know, rejection sticker.
If you get a rejection to give fifteen days. But you can't go
three months without a state inspection sticker. But moving into the state, you're
brand new, moving into the state. Maybe under Code forty six point two
Dash one one five eight, Section E, no law enforcement officers shall stop a motor vehicle due to an expired VO inspection stickery stop them, do not stop them the first day of the fourth month after the original expiration date.
I hope you're listening, because I'm printing this out for you. I just
I think it's I don't know, I have to look up. I had
to ask on that one, because I know if you had an inspection and you failed, you have fifteen days to correct the problem and go get a reinspect Obviously, here's the thing if everybody's gonna ask me the reason why, um state inspection stickers. To me, you're such a crazy thing. And
I always kind of shy away from some of the knowing, right, I will never say that. Even though I was state inspection station and I had
state spectral license and stuff, there was times where like I had to go look things up. I'm like, I had to go back to the book,
and you're supposed to if you don't know, you're not supposed to guess.
You're supposed to go back and look things up. And people don't.
And that's where subjective comes into place. So, like I said, I
just think that you should never error on the side of you know, I'm right, you should always on the side of caution and then go up and look at everything up. Thanks to Kyle, he told me my inspects and
sticker was due for a year. Cameron got caught up in COVID and because
code was going on, you guys, remember, everything was closed and stuff like that, And Cameron totally missed a state inspectral sticker I think we talked about in the air back. Yeah, and he missed a state inspection sticker
because of COVID stuff, and just nobody was really driving or anything like that.
In fact, to be honest with you, guys, mine I think lapsed by I think a week before I got mine in because of when COVID was going on. I just nobody was really open. You weren't really messing
around what you're worried about it, And I didn't. I didn't give it.
I didn't give it two thoughts until I was. It wasn't that they
were open, they were more and correct. Maybe I'm wrong, technicians were
more scared to step into a vehicle than didn't know where it was there might have been some some of that going on certain garages, but a lot of my technician friends weren't even thinking about that. They were lucky the fact that
it was open and they were able to bring money money that they were more worried about that than anything else. Because you gotta remember, depending on how
your pay rate is, if you're you know, if you're on hours, build an hour's turn and stuff like that. I mean, you gotta turn
you gotta turn it, you know what I mean, Like, you gotta be able to make money. Problem. Well, yeah, COVID took care
of you, but you're in a different field. So but like I said,
I just I find it funny that when spection stickers come around and stuff, that the lengths that people will go to, and that some of the stories that have come through in the last couple weeks that people are going to to avoid state special stickers, and like, I get it, I understand money's tight. A guy in California that just created a fake license plate and
used Los Antos Customs as the issue where and when the officer pulled up behind me, it was like, sir, los Anews customs is only in GTA here, And then like that's perfect the photo. He realized that the guy
for the expiration date used his date of birth. It was just I have
I have a painting in my house that has a Chevy truck UM and it and then the license plate was customized in the painting where the license plate is Dawn and our's birthday done on the license plates. You would never you'd never
even know that that's how it set up when you're looking at Huh, you would never know that. You wouldn't. Now. The only thing about it
is so something else I did it is I did the county. Um was
the county that that don and I met in. So I did that on
the license plate on it it was. And I bought the paint and had
the painting and I had a customized UM and then uh, yeah, so the county that's issued into the county that her I met in. And then
the actual numbers of the and the letters and stuff her birthday and my birthday, cutting stuff around here, paintings in the little because my house is like a country feel in the house, but there's a lot of car stuff integrated into my house. I think the coolest thing that you have above your kitchen
is the rusted truck that obviously you can tell is a farm field truck and it's rusted and has bushes and everything sitting in the back bed of the trail.
When you're a car guy, you like your house has to like be like you're surrounding. So I think it's I think my wife's term for what
we have as country chic. But I have put touches, put touches of
car stuff into like almost every room so far. I've I've matched a sneak
something and correlated to every single room of the house until you walk in this room and you're like, you can't hide it, all right. So here's
here's something you guys. You know, I've been telling you guys for you
know, for a little bit about you know, trucks and SUVs have really, you know, jumped up more truck So we got to kind of way from the nephew's SUVs a little bit. Truck sales. Jeeps jeeves aren't selling
really anymore trucks depending on the jeep sale. Yes, it depends on where
it's at. If you go and look at the truck sales and how they've
increased because trucks became as I told you were like cars inside. It's so
comfortable inside. They built like catillacs the inside. And then you have the
use of the bed. It could fit the whole family, and it's it's
multi used vehicle now and then people see it, well, people see it before in that fashion. But city centers and even in the suburbs and stuff
have not mostly metropolitans, Yeah, haven't they did their parking spots. Is
that where you They haven't upgraded anything. They just they haven't really like adapted
to the fact there's so many trucks. Like if you go perfect instance,
we went to the movie The Movies a couple of weeks ago, and in the parking lot there was like thirty trucks, and all thirty trucks were all lined up all together, and they're all backed in because the only way they fit in the parking spot right back over top, up over the top of the curb. That because if not, if we if we pull in the
other way, our bed sticks out into the drive lane. And then here's
what happens. If you get two trucks across from each other, or just
one parking spot across from each other, it becomes a zig zag through the parking lot to get around the beds of the trucks unless you can find a place to back them in. Now, instead of just adapting the parking lots
to the fact that people have pickup trucks, they need to be deeper.
It's no different. I'll give you another one that makes makes your head turn.
We talked about this before. If you didn't know, highways have different
lane widths. Okay, depending on what states you're in or what area you're
in, you could have anywhere, I think, up from ten to fourteen feet wide lanes. It just depends on how your state regulates the lanes.
Well, the trucks are getting bigger, they're getting wider and stuff. So
when you drive some of these trucks brand new, when you're driving, there's such a big, big vehicle that it's literally on the line to line.
If you put a set of aftermarket tires on it, there's really no wiggle room to stay in your lane. Standardized, the standard lane whip in Virginia
it's twenty twelve feet ye, so some I think some have ten and then some have seen and I know they used to. They may have changed,
but there's certain states and they're bigger and wider, and you'll know, like you'll be driving, you can go for one stage to another and all of a sudden, the lane gets wider. So keep that mind, guys.
It's you know, I love the fact, you know abba truck. I
love my truck. But when you're parking, if you're driving a bigger vehicle
of driving a small vehicle, you don't really probably want to put your small vehicle right next to big trucks because of the swing they need to get in.
Now, the parking lot, we'll parking lots ever adapt I don't know's it remains to be seen. But the fees are getting crazy now. Now
they're thinking about instituting fees into parking larger vehicles and stuff within city centers, parking lots and stuff like that. And I'm like, so now we're gonna
be punished for driving trucks, So keep an eye. We're gonna talk about
more on that as things develop on that. On that note, guys,
