Welcome to Driven Radio Show, your home for car talk covering the latest news to the greatest views on the biggest names in performance, sports, and just playing cool driving machines. Let's rev up the conversation. Time for Driven Radio Show.
I'm glad to be here and now that you're here, how's the car surge? Doing okay, you know, I take it day by day. I've got, I've got a bunch saved, so I'm watching them because one of the things you've probably noticed, I've noticed prices are starting to drop.
Yeah, well, that's the end of the season here. And to the season, people aren't buying, but some people are still selling, so I'm waiting for them to be comfortable enough with the price to kind of stick at it, and then decide whether I want to make an offer.
Have you seen anything as nice as that 51 Chevy we looked at the other way that you describe nice? No, I have not seen any as nice as that. We looked at a 51 Chevy that the interior was honest to get it.
But honest to God, it looked like, you know, the old TV show, Maverick, like the old one, yeah, yeah, except it must have been the whorehouse. Now see, I was in the back lot.
I was really thinking and rice on peyote, but that works too. And by the way, I figured out, actually, it was my wife because I showed her that pictures of that. And she was like, oh my God, what is that? I'm like, yeah, feel the pain, feel the pain.
But the thing in the ceiling is a Chevy bow tie. It's a Chevy. Yup, it's a mirrored Chevy bow tie. I figured it out after you left because I showed that thing to Ronda. And I was like, can you believe it? And she was also equally appalled.
Oh, it was, it was horrific. And yeah, very well done. And that I think the same guy who did that also did that 94 Harley dragon thing that we looked at that's apparently in a book that they have the coffee table to go with the
Harley. I want you to imagine like a plastic dragon in your carousel. Well, oh my God, that's good too. On a carousel or decorating your least favorite Chinese buffet.
That's awfully accurate. And you know what the name of the coffee table book that's as soon as it's called, can you believe this shit?
Wow, there's honesty in advertising someplace. That's that's right. I think it was a freaking nightmare. And it's look for it on Facebook because it's there.
I'm I'm going to post a picture of that because I just believe you got to you got it. You know, like the dragon that we saw on Larry Elliott's Vega, that thing actually was kind of cool.
You know, it had a certain kind of say, why it was was daring and bold and didn't look like a bad third rate cartoon like Mulan, but we if you bought Mulan from Timo.
And this thing is just a rolling. And again, it looks it looks well done. It's been thought out. I mean the little claws on the lights and claws on the mirrors.
But I wouldn't all about Kutta, not should it. That's I think that's the only bike ever seen that a Schreiner would look at it and go, no, no, I'm not getting on that. That's just import taste.
Yeah. But you know, again, hats off to the person who did it because you you thought a lot of stuff through and I cannot imagine the amount of money it costs to do that.
Disney on acid. There you go. Alrighty. So real quickly, the red Corvette brake saga continues. And it seems like now I'm looking for an axle half.
We think that maybe the axle on the driver side is a little tweaked. And that's what's been causing the brake pads to rub them or the brake shoes to rub themselves into oblivion.
Blue Corvette is still a blast. I'll be it with the antique feel. Elwood, the Harley is officially somebody else's bike and ensured by somebody else. And this somebody else is my son-in-law. And he's been riding the damn thing everywhere. He's just thrilled.
Yay.
But since he's former Air Force and not former Navy, maybe take all the Navy crap off of it.
I'm working on another Corvette project for a friend of mine.
It is not my Corvette. I am not buying this Corvette. I'm just trying to help out a buddy.
God almighty, there's work to be done there. I have on behalf of another friend, a 2000 Mercedes Benz S500.
Remember when we were talking about doing tradeio on here? Oh, yeah. Okay. Here it is, folks. We're going to let her rip.
Hey everybody, Trudio.
Trudio, I have a 2000 Mercedes Benz S500 and design a brown black over a black leather interior.
42,000 miles on it for sale. Let me know if you are interested. Hit me up at Brett at DrivenRidioShow.com.
For all you Kansas City area folks, we are planning a drive and dine event for the first of November. That would be a Saturday.
We don't have a route locked down yet, but we will be driving to Casa Amigos and Olathe for dinner.
The restaurant owner, Mr. Jose, is a Corvette guy who is thrilled we will be coming to his place.
Be sure to check out our social media for more information on that.
Nice. That's it. That's all I got. It's great place to eat.
It is a great place to eat. I'm in there so much. It's kind of like normal walking into chairs.
A little embarrassed to say that.
Haven't had anything I don't like yet.
How about that diet?

Lance, welcome back to Driven Radio Show.
Hi, guys. Great thing back with you.
I missed you at Monterey Car Week. I did go looking for you.
But I got to talk to Doug Campbell. How was Car Week for you? Did you manage to sell a couple covers?
Oh, yeah. Car Week was good for us. And always enjoy the Composite Italiano Show.
We had the cars at the Hanger Event, Motor Luxe Event. I believe they call it now.
And they went well for us to Monterey Car Week is the highlight of the year.
And it's just a great time to meet old friends and car friends and new customers and new friends.
And that one this year was organized by a mutual friend, Cindy Mydall.
Cindy's been a great friend of the show and helps find us lots of guests and at her hands full, trying to get that one put together.
So thank you, Cindy. We appreciate all of your efforts. Lance, since you moved to Florida a few years ago, you have a big new showroom.
Do you still have your original showroom in Irvine?
Yes, we still have the original showroom in Irvine on one what we've been there now.
And I think it's 10 years or a little longer in that location and previously in all three in Irvine.
And that was also close to 10 years. But we love we're loving it out here in Florida.
So my son and my daughter, Ashton and Shayna, they stayed in California.
And Californians, they do not want to move to Florida. They do not like Florida.
Oh, my middle son Brandon was in Texas for quite a while. He moved out here with us.
And we've opened yeah, we've actually got a larger showroom. We've got to be occupying 26,000 square foot at the moment.
But I've got another 36,000 available as we grow. Wow.
Be the largest and it's going very well. It's great being in Florida. It's just a great state. It's a friendly state.
It's it's good to work in. And we found customers will travel.
And you say, well, we in Jupiter, Florida. Oh, okay, we'll come out there.
It's a it's a destination. A lot of people don't mind coming. The wife will come with us.
But and then you can get to see a car and buy a car.
This this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Shelby Cobra 427 SE.
And the Shelby Daytona coupe and Hill Bank will be offering anniversary bush versions of both.
Can you give us a little history on each of the cars and what made them special?
Yeah, so of course the 427 Cobra, that's still everybody's favorite Cobra.
It wasn't the most successful racing car. Cobra at the time because unfortunately Carol had had to put all these efforts into the GT 40s and race them for Ford.
So, you know, after the 29 Cobra that that Carol race very successfully, the 427 was sort of the stepchild.
But the 427 went on to be the most duplicated, most popular Cobra in the world by far.
It's probably the most duplicated car in the world ever.
I don't think anything has been duplicated as much as the 427 Cobra.
And yeah, and this is a big year of the 60th anniversary of the car.
And of course, the 60th anniversary of one of my personal favorites.
Everybody says to me, that's which is your favorite car. And I say, I really don't.
I mean, I've got a favorite child, but that child hasn't been born yet.
So I'll tell you about it.
Okay, now I'm in trouble with my kids.
But the Daytona as you know, the superformance and the Shelby legendary cars version, the CSX 9000.
It's more of a tourer, a grand tourer. So it's got air conditioning, power steering, electric windows, central locking.
It's just a wonderful car to do long distance.
I'm actually going to be doing a long distance trip on Saturday.
We start in Branson, Missouri.
And we're going to be probably up.
We won't do crazy a matter. We'll probably come close to 2,000 miles touring through Missouri and all over.
And we're all planning to go.
And I picked the Daytona to do that in.
We're meeting another 40 cobra owners.
There'll probably be one or two GT 40s and a friend of mine from Florida is bringing his grand sport.
So that will be there also.
But yeah, the Daytona celebrates 60 years.
And the black she's 60th anniversary in next year, 2005.
Of Winning Lamar and World Championship.
And the Daytona, if it wasn't, that would put all the effort into the GT 40.
The Daytona would definitely have won 1966 at Lamar also.
No, I don't think anybody has any doubt about that.
The car was coming first, second and third, you know, with three of them on the track.
And Carol had planned to take six of them for the had six really for the 1965 season.
But 66 season, sorry.
And at all, but Ford said not the GT 40 wins this year.
And it did.
I don't have any doubt.
You saw all the film.
And on those when they let them lose at Daytona and how they just pulled the Ferraris.
They didn't have a chance.
And had they been just a little bit more reliable.
Probably would have dusted off the Ferraris everywhere they went.
Yeah, you know, and basically they would have won the 64 championship.
But Enzo cancelled the last race.
He managed to arrange for the last race of Monza to be cancelled for whatever reason.
And Carol had four or five.
I'm a country of the exact story in the history books.
But I think he had four or five Daytona's ready for Monza.
He was really going to, you know, clean the table with the Daytona's at Monza.
And Enzo cancelled the last race.
I know why.
Sissy.
He didn't want to get his clock cleaned.
No, definitely not.
Tell us about the anniversary additions you have available right now.
So the Daytona's, they, you know, they clamor the commemorate that year that makes 60 years of the inception of the Daytona.
They come with a special badging in the car.
We've also done a deal with Peter Brock and they'll have a Peter Brock badges on Christmas being the designer of the car.
And he actually designed our CSX 9000 also.
So when we decided we wanted to develop the Daytona, we didn't want to come out with a kit car version.
It had to be connected to Shelby number one.
And it had to be done by the regional designer.
And when we originally approached Peter, he just said, no, I'm not interested.
I'm not getting anything to do with any kit cause or anything like that.
There was way back in 2000.
And we just persisted and persisted and eventually people were telling Peter about how good the cars are.
Cobras that are coming out of superformance and they managed to we bought him a ticket and he came over to factory and of course he was blown away.
And he got on the program straight away.
And at the time we thought we made a mistake because he was very difficult and he's very particular and he's a perfectionist.
And we did so many shapes versions of the car because we were extending the length of the car.
You can't just make a car bigger.
It doesn't mean it'll look good.
Things go wrong.
The wheel archers don't look right anymore.
This doesn't look right.
That doesn't look right.
The moment you have the proportions of a car, but with the speeders, you know, dedication to perfection.
I think the guy said nine different versions or something like that were made at the factory before he signed off on what we built today.
And we glad we did it that way.
And he's been involved in the project ever since.
And he's really coming to his own now, you know, so many years after Carol's passed away.
And he's one of the few left of the car.
The Shelby employees.
Oh, yeah.
And a great designer.
I mean, you know, he was very involved with the Corvette.
As you will know, the Medieu Corvette was one of Peter's projects also at Chevrolet.
So, yeah, we proud to have him aboard and having involved in the Daytona and each owner that gets a 60th anniversary will get a letter from Peter Brock and commemorate him.
That's cool.
Yeah.
Yeah.
On the car.
And then in the, the, the cobra, it comes with naturally the special anniversary, badging and mentioning the registry as the 60th anniversary car.
And most of them we're doing are going to be in the Guardsland blue with one more than white, the famous cover color that really goes for even though we've had one guy ordering SXY color.
And of the 427 covers, the SXY car was the most successful racing 427 cobra.
I believe it's coming up on auction again or has just gone on auction, the regional car.
And I don't know if the gas sold, but I think he wanted more.
I don't know how many million it got you, but I think he wanted more.
The 60th was it was a big deal for us for the 427 covers.
And so far, there's a few left.
We're not building many.
We're building 10 CSX 1000 versions and those are all aluminum and they handrolled aluminum bodies.
We are rolling the bodies inside Africa now.
For the first time, we didn't do it in the past.
We, we, we, we pay back off Kirkham and a couple of other companies in Europe to make aluminum bodies for us.
But we've got our own little guy, well, he's actually a big guy and he made us our CSX 2900, which is based on the regional CSX 2000 cobra.
And the cobra you see in the movies, the four versus Ferrari movie that Carol drove or Matt Damon drove in the movie for Carol.
So he rolled that body out for us.
And now we've done a cut.
We've done a sea bring aluminum.
We've done two more slapside aluminum and two four 27th CSX 10000 aluminum.
And I do.
And to watch the guy on an English wheel is it's art.
You know, as I said, Kirkham does a great job that they've got the stretch form body and on tools.
This is still the old school way of rolling them like they did in England.
Yeah, tell me a little bit about that because that always fascinates me.
I've been actually watching a lot of videos and like on Facebook videos will pop up.
And I'm like, you know, go pass, go pass.
Oh, wait, somebody's doing this chunk on an English wheel and with one of those little hammers and this and that.
Okay, so are you saying that your coach work work is done basically by hand?
All by hand.
Yeah, all the aluminum cars we do are done by hand rolled out on an English wheel.
And of course, with a tool and dial, you know, have a diamond, whatever they call the tools and do it.
It's to watch the guy do it all these spectacular.
And sometimes I'm looking and I think that's not going to turn out right.
It doesn't look like it's going to get there.
But man, he bends, pulls, bangs, hits, rolls.
And next thing you look at this beautiful flat smooth panel that if you paint it,
you hardly need any filler to get it smooth.
And of course, we offer you polished bodies.
So the body has to be perfect.
An aluminum whisperer.
Yeah, and you're looking for a card.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
This is probably a little out of my league.
You might be able to buy a fender.
Yeah, you might have to figure out.
Mark, we've got 60 backbreaking installments.
Where did my lever go?
Don't worry about it.
You've got a car.
Shut up.
Drive soon.
You might.
It's not neat shoes.
The lot doesn't need it.
Come on.
You only live once.
And if you do it right, that's enough.
Yeah, exactly.
That's gorgeous.
So that just that just amazes me that you're hand coach working these things.
Yeah, brilliant.
I've got some great pictures.
If I remember, Mark, you remind me, I'll send them to you on your email.
Oh, this guy's working pictures of him working with Leo.
And you know, he's just a big God big beard.
He's a real real man's man.
Viking built.
He looks that kind of guy.
As well as the Shelby cars.
Superformance is celebrating a big anniversary this year with 30 years in business.
Did you ever think it would get this big?
No, you know, and it surprises me when I think that you know, 30 years.
It's so long time.
I remember a celebrating Shelby 40 years.
You know, the 40th anniversary cobra.
And now we're already celebrating 30 years.
So time is really hard.
And our number, you know, a caribou to approximately a thousand odd cars in total.
And we owe over six and a half thousand cars.
Wow.
It's not a crazy amount compared to the real manufacturers, the big manufacturers.
But in our industry, it's pretty good.
It's a very big number.
How many people do you employ?
So at the factory, they, at the height, you know, when the economy was wonderful,
crazy back in 2004 to five, we have over 800 employees and it's approximately 600,000 square foot.
Right now, we're probably around 500 employees somewhere around there.
But the fact is actually bigger because we slowly build more and more buildings to have the thousands of different things.
We have a small program where they're building some boats, mostly for the military in South Africa.
And they're also doing rock pressure.
I don't know.
I'm not involved in that.
It's not one of my programs.
And of course, we're now building the Mustangs, the GT67 Shelby Mustang, licensed by Shelby.
And that's a pretty nice exciting car.
Well, do you know off the top of your head, how many different models you offer?
Yeah, you know, people ask me when you say you do a cover.
So if you start off at the bottom, we've got a 289 slap sign.
We then go to the Seabring, which is a bit of a third slap sign.
We then go to the FIA.
And we do those three cars in a superformance version and we do it in the Shelby version.
Superformance cars and that's your only number, superformance numbers.
Shelby cars are numbered with Shelby numbers and in the registry.
Then we go to superformance, we have a 427 mark three and we have an R version
and a roadster version of that car.
And then you move to the Shelby 427 cover, which is a completely different cover.
The superformance, the body is different.
The frame, of course, is different.
It's around 2 frame, the suspension is different.
It's the original Shelby suspension with upgraded brakes and interiors all the same.
You move over to the Daytona's.
At the moment, we're only doing one version of the Daytona and that's the CSX9000.
But we were doing what we call the Type 65, the small Daytona, same as the original car.
And we've done three aluminum versions like that, no fiberglass in that car.
We've only done aluminum.
And of course, we've done three aluminum CSX9000, terrific cars, really, really nice car.
And then when you move over to the GT40s, we start with the narrow body street car,
which is a very slim body, wire wheels, beautiful street interior.
Most of those we sell to Europe are sold for in the US, but the rest of all being to Europe.
And then we go to the regular body, which everybody knows.
And that's the most common.
That's the bulk of them.
And the bulk of the replica companies build that car.
And then we go to the wide body, which was very, very popular for quite a while.
But now we introduce the toolroom copy.
And the toolroom copy is a toolroom in the English term means a dead 100% you copy every nothing bolts.
Every wire in that car of the seat of GT40p1075.
The famous car that won over our 68 and 69 two years later.
Now we do a dead nuts version of that.
And that's even wider than the regular wide body.
And then of course we do the mock two, which is a 66 GT40 and that's got a different tail and a different nose.
People don't realize that the nose was where it's got a little more downforce on the big block code GT40.
And we cover the Daytona and of course the Grand Sport.
We just do one version of the Grand Sport.
We don't do a convertible, but still just a fan favorite.
I'm a big Chevy lover and Covid that Grand Sport is a car.
I wanted to build all along, but being so involved in Ford.
I couldn't come right to GM.
And then after it was approximately six, seven nearly eight years of banging on GM's doors.
And our family found the right guy who let me in and we were licensed.
And we're the only company that can put a Covid Grand Sport badge on a car that's not built in such a relay.
As much as I want to drive every cobra, every Shelby, everything you offer.
I really want to drive a grand support.
Oh, you'll love some of the Grand Sport we're doing.
And now we've just fought it up with Wigna, a company in Wisconsin.
And they begin to build race engines, but they've now gone to build more street engines.
And they build an LT3.
It's a supercharged LT3.
It's a monster.
And it dinoes comfortably just 10th to roughly 1100 horsepower.
I forget.
And the one that's going to Nebraska to Branson, Missouri is got 1100 horsepower Wigna.
And it drives like it as long as you really light on the throttle.
And it is a little sweetheart, but you cannot go past the corner.
After quarter, it was to rip your head off.
The first half shafts, we twisted them like pretzels.
We didn't realize.
And we've had LT4s in those cars that make 650 and both to 700.
We've never twisted it drive a half shaft.
But these, I'd love to show you a picture with them.
Perfectly twisted like a pretzel, twisted completely off.
We had $4,000 later.
We had half shafts that we will live with that engine.
So thanks 1100 horsepower.
What's it way?
It's 950 pound for the torque.
And the big thing is that we've got 345s on the back.
18 each with 345 drag radials on the back.
And if you know how you guys know Corvitz, the car is pretty light.
It weighs about 2750 pounds.
But it lifts up.
It stands up in the front and it squats extremely hard.
It sits in nearly drags, it's butt on the ground.
And the front wheels are kinked in.
It looks like they're coming off the ground when it accelerates.
It wasn't built to be a drag car but it acts like a drag car.
Squats, it's ass down.
And incredible traction.
Sounds like a perfectly reasonable commuter car.
Yeah, absolutely.
And that's what my buddy Ron thinks.
He's so excited about the car.
Was it Cima last year?
And so he was very excited to have his car.
It's Cima displayed.
And now he's going to be running it.
He's done about 1,500 miles so far.
And now we'll do another.
Hopefully we get to do the whole 2,000 strip.
Unbelievable.
So aside from the really cool stuff you've just been talking about,
what would you consider some of the hallmark models you've built
over the past 30 years?
Well, you know, right now I'm really excited about the 30th anniversary car.
We've all fallen in love with it.
It's done a little different.
I think you guys are familiar with the Mercedes did it.
They put the speed bump at the back, the speed bulge at the back
behind the driver's end.
And the whole idea behind that was, you know, superformance owns the record
for the fastest Cobra in the world.
It ran out 223 miles an hour.
Ted Taramino, if you get a chance, look up Italian job.
I'm familiar with it.
Yeah.
And one of his problems was that he says,
anyway, after 180, his head was being buffeted so hard in the car.
And then he looked up the old books and what the guys did.
And the old cars, top speed run cars and fast cars from the wall.
And they all had those speed bubbles behind the helmet.
And you know, up until then he thought it was just the looks.
And it wasn't with that on his car on Italian job.
And so the 30th anniversary comes with a single speed bump.
Shelby's signature on the speed bump in the back we are in the head.
And it's all upgraded now, the power steering and a lot more creature comforts.
And then we now we offer the double bubble.
We call it a double bubble.
Like McLaren have done.
And a lot of out of Ferrari have got it.
They've all got a little, what do they call them?
Because there's no windshields.
Speedy up.
Speedy up.
Speedy up.
Ferrari.
They cut the roof off.
Take the windshield away and charge you double for the car.
Because that makes sense.
Super force pretty cool.
And then we develop.
We sold out on the 30th anniversary.
So 30 of them.
We developed from that car.
And that's the CSX 10,000 series numbers.
So we're the first ones to use.
Shelby's CSX 10,000.
If you know the Shelby numbers CSX 1000 with the aluminum,
the special aluminum edition car.
And also the fam cars as Ferrari called it.
Ferrari.
Carol Shelby called them fam cars.
Ferrari's ass as mine.
And then the CSX 2000 was a little slap side car.
CSX 3000 was a 427.
CSX 4000 with the continuation.
Covers Shelby made right in the beginning.
And then I took over and finished off that series.
And when we ran out of 4,000 series numbers,
we got CSX 6000 for the carry on 427.
Covers on CSX 6000.
CSX 5000 was allocated to the series one.
Shelby.
Oh, okay.
All right.
And we're not a CSX 5000.
So 6000's gone to 427.
7,000 is the FIA cars.
We build now the Shelby cover FIs of 7's.
Then the CSX 8,000's are now the new slap side covers.
We build for Shelby.
The original 62 style covers is 8.
And then 9,000's of Shelby Daytona.
And of course, now we've got the CSX 10,000,
which is the 30th anniversary's world 10,000's.
And the Super snake.
That's our latest now.
Another company out of Indianapolis,
Indie products.
Great guy, Jim Rider.
He has developed 1,000 horsepower Godzilla engines for us.
7,000 series.
Yeah.
And look, basically he's saying at 1,000 horsepower,
the Godzilla with a supercharged,
that he's giving us our detuned engines.
Because the Godzilla is a monster.
The engine.
You know, guys, you'll see on the internet,
guys have gone to 1,500 horsepower and 2,000 horsepower
under these Godzilla engines.
They're just ridiculous.
I love them.
Absolutely love them.
They're almost the LS3 of 40 engines.
They're just so strong.
They're smaller than the coyotes in the car,
which is nice.
So they're not as wide as the coyote.
They're more like a, more like a Windsor,
almost a little wider than a Windsor.
And you've really got a big block,
you know, pushed right engine again,
that makes tons of torque with the coyotes
that I make the torque.
It doesn't rev as well.
You know, we're not driving them over six and a half,
but the 1,000 horsepower we did rev to 7,000 RPM.
But usually a Godzilla doesn't.
Because it's a truck engine.
It's developed from the truck.
And so I've got six of those in-build right now,
the first one will be at Seema this year.
First Super Snake double bubble,
body, very cool looking car,
very, very cool looking car.
And it will be at Seema.
And that's a friend of mine, Dennis.
He can't wait for the car to be finished.
He's got him a clara and he's got a Porsche.
And eventually, you know, all these other cars
and he's so excited about the Cobra.
He drives me nuts.
Dennis, you've got all those other cars to drive.
Yeah, but I need the Cobra.
But the Cobra is going to be pretty cool.
We even got, well, I'll have ABS traction control, air conditioning,
cool air conditioning system.
We actually robbed the technology from Tesla.
And it's an electric air conditioning system.
And the air conditioning comes out from the trunk under the seats.
And it's just so wonderful because the whole bottom of the car,
you got this cold air coming up towards your face.
And you've got, you're going to have very cool legs, sorry.
So for your 30th anniversary, are you throwing, I mean,
you're clearly building lots of cool stuff.
But are you throwing some kind of a party for,
or gathering for your customers?
And if so, can we crash it?
You know, we haven't done this.
It's a weird thing.
It's a strange year.
It's sold a little slow for us.
We will admit it's picked up now.
It definitely has.
And then we're getting some momentum.
So the owner's group that we get a meeting for Bradson.
We're going to show a bit of a function over there for 30 years.
But now we didn't actually, we did a good party for our 25th
and that was sold in California.
And we had a lot of owners that came out.
But this year has been a little bit different.
You know, everybody's tucked into working and not playing at the moment.
It's serious time.
So we've got to make up.
Well, you need to have a barbecue and a birthday cake.
Yeah, you know, you're throwing that.
And I love a party.
There's nobody that loves a party more than me.
And my dad had nicknamed me when I was still a kid,
because I was always arranging fun events at the showroom for everybody.
So he had nicknamed New Captain Fund because so tired.
You know, this day I, my, my, I named the boat Captain Fund
because everybody said, you know, that's got to arrange the party.
Where's it going to be?
So it's strange that I haven't arranged the city.
You've actually caught me of God.
Well, the 30th is not the only anniversary you've got this year.
The big anniversary for you is the 25th year of Superformance Car Owners Forum.
Tell us a little bit about that.
So that's, that's just the, the, the, the greatest group you can think of.
Started by Randall Thomas from Wisconsin.
He bought a cobra in approximately 99 for one of the dealers back then.
And he just thought, you know, he was very big into offroading
and they had a strong club and group of guys that got all over the country.
Big, big V8 offroad trucks.
And he started Superformance Car Owners Forum.
And it's called Scott. It's been known as Scott.
And the guy, all the guys are known as scoffers.
And, and he has at least four events a year.
They've done crazy runs.
They've done very long runs 4,000 miles where they do the whole top of the country.
Go into Canada, come around, down through, upstate New York and Maine and all those places across to Chicago.
The owners do massive long runs in the cobras, dirt roads.
We've traveled to South Africa.
We took 60 owners back to South Africa years ago.
They're pushing us to do it again.
But unfortunately, now we've got more than 300 that have signed up.
And there's no way I can control 300 people going back to South Africa to see the factory.
And the Superformance Owners groups behind all that.
And then they also take care of my guys.
You know, it's one thing that's wonderful about Superformance, you know,
an achieve 5 and owner and something goes wrong in an area.
We don't have a workshop set up or a dealer close by.
We just go to Scott.
And we put it on Scott and the owners of the best bunch.
They will jump into their cars, trucks, trailers.
Go out to the guy, help him out, start the car get, you know, sort of whatever is wrong.
Or tow it somewhere and then I say, well, what about you?
Oh, no, you don't tell me anything.
Most of them are retired.
And this is fun for them to meet this guy that's stranded or if he's got something wrong.
And to be able to show how much knowledge they have, you know,
they love telling everybody how to do it and how to fix it.
So the owners group has been, I can't tell you, you know,
the company wouldn't have been as successful with outscuff.
Randall can sit on the phone for hours helping owners if they ever needed
and any advice and any modifications and any upgrades they want to need.
He knows pretty much every nut and bolt of every car.
We send him records and he's a daughter collector.
He just loves collecting all that information.
And if you go to their website, Superformance, car owners,
forum, you'll see it's a treasure trove of information.
Now, you can't get to everything because you have to be a member
and you can only be a proper member if you own a Superformance car.
There's no, you can't be a member if you're not a Superformance owner
and you also can't come to the rally seat.
You know, I mean, visitors can come because you can't do a rally
in a different car.
It has to be in a Superformance car.
And many of the other covert clubs, I mean, there's great cars on the factory
five side and they have approached him over and over to try and let them come in
because just because he organises it, it's so nice.
Lee.
And he just said, no, he's only Superformance and that's it.
So we do love the other covert guys.
I'm not a covert snob in any way.
I love any guy.
And I have more respect for God that builds a covert to himself at home
because I think I could do it, but I'm sure I'm not going to try and do it.
I'm scared.
I'm going to do the time it takes the dedication.
I take my hat off to those guys who build the on cost.
It's typically a achievement.
A little later this month, Beret Jackson Scottsdale is coming up
and you always have a presence there.
And right after Beret Jackson is SEMA and you're always there.
I'm kind of curious what you've got planned for the two events
and do you typically have strong sales at both?
Yeah, so Beret Jackson is one of our best sale events.
Look, it is the January auction.
That's the good one.
The October one is, this is only the second year that they're doing that one.
It's a four day event, not a seven, eight, nine, ten day almost.
The January event.
So we still feeling our way through it last year's one.
We didn't have as successful sales as we would have liked.
But we've got a lot planned for this one.
We're taking a 60th anniversary 427 shall be cast.
CSX 6,000 will be there.
And I will, I won't have a super snake ready yet.
The launch for the super snake is going to be at SEMA.
We will have, we'll have a good selection of our cars.
We'll probably have at least 20 cars on display at Beret Jackson.
So from, from a slap side through to an FI, we've even got a very cool
C-Bring Con.
I don't know if you're familiar with the C-Bring Covers.
But have a look at them.
If for one thing, if you might have seen the Album cover for a little cobra,
the car cover was Dan Gurney's C-Bring Cover at the time.
And Shane Carol Connors, she's moving on up now.
They're doing a new show and a book and a whole lot about him.
And we were asked to bring a C-Bring Cover to a filming in a sunwinter.
I think it was in Burbank at a studio.
And we had a car there.
Great pictures were taken with her.
She's still alive.
She's carrying on and a little covers on and so cool.
We've been speaking with Lance Standard of Superformance and Hillbank Motors.
Lance, please tell us where we can find you online and on social media.
Okay.
So that's actually an Instagram.
You can look up Hillbank Motor Corporation, Hillbank Motorsports,
Superformance, Shelby Legendary Cars on both Facebook and Instagram.
And we're not so big.
We're LinkedIn, of course.
I'll be Lance Standard at LinkedIn.
And of course, the web.
We've got the Shelby Legendary Cars website to sue.
We're launching a new Superformance website.
We're really excited about it because the current one is over 25 years old.
It is so burnt out and worn out.
It struggles.
I think we've still got one of the versions of the ARC that they were going to run and vote back.
They're still playing on the website.
So the new Superformance website is going to be really nice.
Got some cool stuff going for that.
And yeah, LinkedIn.
I don't know.
We on X also.
Facebook.
Instagram.
Stuff like that, as I say.
You can find us.
Lance, thanks so much for being with us.
We really appreciate it.
Thank you, guys.
Thank you.
I appreciate it.
I'm trying to think, is this not the time, but I love that every time.
I think it's more than that.
And honestly, when I was supposed to be reading you out, I was on your website looking for the
Seabring Cobra.
So.
It was a little distracted.
Thank you.
Goddamn it.
You caught me in the middle of it.
You'll bank USA.
You'll bank motorsport.
You'll bank USA.
It's a good one to go.
We've got a number 198 available at the moment.
And that's the date McDonald car.
Okay.
There you go, Brett.
Well, I still haven't driven one of your cars.
I've ridden in one that had a Roush 427 in it.
And the thing was just as rowdy as it could be.
And I really, I still want to drive one.
You welcome anytime.
When you're in Florida or California, you let me know.
And I'll have one ready for you to take out.
Well, fantastic.
I'd love to.
Hell, I'd love to put one in my garage.
But I got so much crap in there.
Now, that's where you could talk to me.
I've got your credit card number.
Don't worry about it.
And as a 60 backbreaking storm, it's no.
Yeah.
I'll just send you that AMX number and you put whatever,
whatever on there you feel is reasonable every month.
I like the, I like the little more to slab side that you know.
And I never understand this.
So at yes, I love it too.
I've just built a beautiful one.
Just with a 302 in it.
Oh, maybe 325 horsepower, which sounds, you know, low for us
because the crazy horsepower.
But the price is 2000 pounds.
Yes.
2200 pounds.
It's a sweetheart.
Absolute sweetheart.
We sold it to a lovely guy that's going to take it up to Northern,
Northern New York or something.
I've stayed in New York, I think.
But yeah, whenever I drive and I come home in that,
because I drive a different one of my cars.
I try and drive a different almost every day.
I go into the showroom and I come back with something else.
Just to make sure and the showroom cars.
And just to make sure they're all good.
And if I hear a little noise or something,
I don't like.
And I can tell the guys.
Okay, let's have a look at this.
And every time I drive a step side, I think my step.
You know what?
This is just the best little car.
And I love the 427s.
I go down the road and all the noise.
And I get excited.
And the adrenaline.
I'm coming.
Here stands up in your arms.
And it is very exciting.
But I don't get that overwhelming warm feeling like I get.
It's just 289, Cobra.
It's got your English car feel with the American power.
Yeah.
And that's what an English car needs.
It's a lightweight.
It wants to bite the corners and go around.
And I just, you can pull that steering wheel.
And you don't have white tires.
So you get a bit of slide.
You're really enjoying your driving.
And you're not even going crazy fast.
That's the other nice thing about it.
You can get a thrill out of a Cobra under 80 miles.
So you're a little bit out of the speed
where you're allowed to be.
But you're not going to go to the channel.
Well, the black with the red interior.
First of all, that's just sexy.
Yes.
And secondly, I'll tell you what I've told a lot of people.
And you're well aware of this.
But I've got a 65 stingray that has factory side exhaust on it.
Side pipes are fun for a half hour.
And then after that, you kind of want just regular exhaust
on the darn thing.
So it's not deafening you.
It is true.
As I said, now this trip I'm going to do is with the Daytona.
But we've got side pipes.
But we've done a really nice job of our side pipes on the Daytona.
It took a lot of tuning.
So you really did a good sound.
But initially people said this is not loud enough.
But if you're driving it, it's just wonderful.
You can still listen to the radio.
But you are getting that side pipe sound at the side.
But we do do a Daytona with the undercar exhaust.
And I'm driven a couple of those, of course.
And those are lovely.
On the open road, it's absolutely perfect in the car.
Everybody outside gets a good sound.
Yes.
But it does.
It's not overwhelming in the car.
Well, the things are just sexy.
I love that little slab side.
That thing is really, really pretty.
Hey, I appreciate you putting up with us last week in the technical difficulties.
Yes.
Man.
We're just we're having to update some stuff.
And it bit us.
Yeah.
It caught us off guard.
But we appreciate you coming back on.
Thanks.
And this one will post this Saturday.
I'll tag you everywhere.
You'll know when it's up.
Excellent.
Thank you very much for your markets.
As I said, it's been a treat every time.
It's fun.
There's nothing like car guys.
I mean, it was to you.
We are a unique breed.
There's no medication that can help us.
No.
You can never spend more fun than be with a bunch of car guys.
And we'll tell the same stories over and over and over.
But one of them are true.
Well, I love anybody who makes his living selling engineered lunacy.
This is all very fantastic.
And we really appreciate you being on.
Thanks, guys.
Thanks very much.
Always easy to talk to Lance.
He makes me laugh, man.
You know, for a dude that has a multimillion dollar high performance car,
plays, he seems just really down to 500 plus and pull employees.
Yeah.
He's just fun to talk to.
Could you have that much going on?
I'm still be that loose.
That's more brain than I got brain.
Yeah.
He's cool in the gang, man.
And like, and he's just easy to talk to.
Yeah.
That's just it.
He's just, he's one of the guys.
Except, you know, you talk to him long enough.
Have a few beers and you're like, wait a minute.
What?
Yeah.
You have a lot.
You do a lot.
And on, on, on top of all that.
Oh, yeah.
We got 1000 horsepower cars just kind of fallen out of us.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Oh, my God.
I would love to play with one of those.
You said 1100 horsepower and it weighs what?
Yeah.
You're making me cry.
So basically what you're telling me is it weighs about the same as a came art cart
and it puts out what a locomotive does.
Awesome.
Great idea.
Let's do that some more.
No wonder they call it Godzilla.
We're making four wheel gods on every day.
Every day, you're cranking out something that could, you know, make the earth rotate the
other direction.
And I had to laugh.
You know, I drive a, I drive one home, different one home every day because I'm just kind
of test melt.
Listen, we're creaks.
You're testing the speedometer.
Does it go all the way up to there?
Well, I'll be darned.
It does.
Look at that.
I'm kind of wondering if you drive enough of those, if you ever become jaded to the
experience, I mean, does 1,000 horsepower ever get boring?
Not once you put your foot in it.
I wouldn't think so.
I mean, everyone would be a new experience and all of a shit.
Yeah.
Every time I drive it, I have to get a pair of players to get my underwear out.
Yeah.
There's one dude who's regular.
Yeah.
Oh, kidding.
I said, I don't take that a muscle.
No.
I don't need that a muscle.
And I'm sure he loves us very driving his cars.
Yeah.
Well, declaring your calling, you want to talk about cool.
I tell him I've written in it.
I've written in one of his cars, but I've never driven one.
He says, you haven't.
Yeah.
What is wrong with you?
Like, we have to correct this immediately.
I'm thinking, you're going to put me behind the wheel.
Do you listen to this show?
Yeah.
Do you know who I am?
And what a terrible idea that is.
And I like it.
You've heard me answer that last interview question.
A lot, haven't you?
Well, it's cool stuff.
And a cool guy.
Oh, man.
What a pleasure to talk to you.
I always find to talk to Lance and really appreciate him taking the time to do that.
Yes.

What?
Are these commercials?
Yeah.
They're commercials.
But they're about people and services that don't suck.
We know because we are actual real paying customers.
We are not suck-ups.
Well, yet anyway, put these in your ear holes.
Car guys have dreams, don't we?
The dream might be sitting in the garage waiting to be perfected and it might be sitting
on an auction site where the guy working the highest bid.
Oh, Lord, I got one of those right now.
What makes it a dream?
The potential.
The goal.
A perfected ride that makes you look back at it every time before you close your garage door.
Just one more shot.
You know how they tell you you found the right car.
You can't park it in a parking lot without shooting a look back over your shoulders.
As you walk away, amen.
And at Hot Rod Express, dreams come true.
Hot Rod Express in Blue Springs, Missouri at 816-224-9597.
Ask for Rick Hunter.
The nicest guy at this side of a kick-ass burnout.
He did wonders for my 65 Corvette and he can do it for your car too.
Whether you want your dream ride to look more original than when it rolled off the showroom
floor or you want to turn it into a high performance, meat eating, flamethrowering street monster,
Rick and his expert crew could make that happen.
Stop dreaming.
Start driving.
While Rick Hunter at Hot Rod Express, 816-224-9597, or just stop by at 510-5US-40 in

At Hot Rod Express, they make friends fast.
Welcome to the House of Hell.
Yes.
Casa Migos at 159th and Merlin serves up some of the best Mexican food this side of Mexico.
It's a driven radio show favorite for after the show.
You've been there.
And before.
Yeah.
And something during, if we can get away with it.
Not wrong.
Jose Villasenor, the owner, makes food the old fashioned way.
You know.
Delicious.
Oh, yeah.
Remember that?
Uh-huh.
Plus he has a little red Corvette.
So we already like him.
I saw that in your garage.
And a little brown Corvette.
Yeah.
I'm helping.
I'm helping.
You're still kind.
I'm taking a trade for chips and salsa.
It's my bad.
Did I mention the food?
Oh, yeah.
That huge menu.
The burger readers that are pleased to meet you order, take out, dine in, eat on the patio.
It's all good.
It is.
Service is awesome.
Seriously, it's the only restaurant I've been to where the owner comes out and gives
me a hug.
Make the drive to Casa Migos at 159th and Merlin and Olathe, Kansas.
Check them out online at CasaMigosKC.com living La Vida local.
Yeah.
Casa Migos where flavor is your friend.
See.
See.
You know, Daryl Ossipic might just be the most interesting man on Earth.
If you look at his collection of vehicles, you'll realize this is a Renaissance man from
weird old beaters to serious performance hot rods.
All in one place.
Owner of Ossipic Automotive, Daryl is the car whisperer practicing voodoo that brings vehicles
back from the dead.
Just for us here on this show, Daryl is working on Mercury and Mountaineer, Classic Corvettes,
Nissan XTera.
Mine.
Unusual Mercedes.
Yars.
And a 64-gauge custom A80.
Neither of ours anymore.
No, no.
No, no.
But you know why it ran?
Daryl Ossipic.
That's right.
In other words, we come to him with our whining issues and he comes back to us with shiny
fixed automobiles.
It is like magic.
Daryl has ASE certified mechanics and happily gives binding estimates.
He might not know he's happy, but that might be because he sees us come in and it erases
all of us.
Joel, you watch that face drop.
Gerald will explain what he finds, what he plans on doing, and lets you make your decisions.
Nothing hidden, no mechanic bait and switch.
He straight up and even guarantees all work for at least one month or 1,000 miles.
Yes.
Automotive, that's OSI, PIK, Automotive, 5920, Mariam Drive and Mariam Kansas, called Daryl
at 913-831-3613.
What was that number?
913-831-3613.
Don't even have to read it.
It's been in my head for a while now.
I'll do it on the back of my skull.
Ask for the big D and tell him Brett, isn't he?
After he sighs heavily.
He will.
Bet you taken care of 913-831-3613, OSI, big Automotive.
