The great grandson of Ferdinand Portia is joining us. He is also the founder of Fat
International, which you've probably seen or read about. It's kind of everywhere now with their
ice racing. And now they're talking about a new go-karting league for kids that is helping to
not necessarily democratize, but meritocratize, I think that's a word,
meritocratize karting to help give young people a pathway into open-wheel motor sports.

about how old you have to be to sit in the front. They put in questions that don't matter.
I mean, that's a lot of safety. In America, they ask you shit that doesn't matter the second you're
handed the card. There are things that do matter, such as staying to the right, that they don't
emphasize nearly. The further away you get from the drivers, the less you drive. We need some
testing in this country for sure. But as you've learned from your time in California,
there aren't really laws here, so it's okay. That's a good thing. It's fun sometimes. Sometimes
it's a good time. Sometimes you just need to get a car from point A to point B and it's not
registered. And what the fuck are you going to do? You know that all Germans dream of living in the
U.S., right? We grow up with your music. We grow up with your cinema. Every German U.S. is kind of
the benchmark. It's kind of funny. It's kind of funny. It's free here. I mean, it's
completely bullshit. But like we dream of the U.S. as like this, like the American dream very
much lives in our heads. Don't worry. It lives in a lot of our heads too. We're all hoping to see
that dream one day. Yeah, I was going to say, I don't know what's going on. Yeah, grass is always
greener, my friend. But our biggest export, I think, is pop culture, entertainment, etc. So it

little, which I think not many. On track or in carts? On track. No, not in carts. The carts
for the kids. I drove a car. You did? Yeah, I drove cars. Yeah. Really? Yeah. I was going to talk
about it. I walked over there. Someone, there was a group text with Ali on it said, be at the car
track at one. And I went over to the car track at one. And one of the people on your team said,
Oh, Matt, get over here. Try one of these. We're doing, we're doing a race. And I went,
it was a fucking blast. I had a great time. Me and Graham Smith had a real fucking battle.
Yeah, no, I opened the gap and then I got like way aggressive in one of the breaking zones and
looped it into the gravel. And he went by like this. It was fucking great. These electric carts
are fun. And I want to circle back to carting. Yeah. But it was fun. Yeah. But you drove one
on streets of Willow? Yeah. In what? No, I drove the Big Willow. The streets is the one that they
already like repaved. Yeah. No, I drove the Big Willow in a C for lightweight.
You know, the ice race livery. Yeah, the white one, right? I saw that car. That's a lovely car.
And also I was, when I got there, Zach and I got there super early to set up for the podcast
and whatever. And the fat corral was there. And the first thing we noticed was that you were
using an Arnaj as a merch booth, which is one of the best uses of a Bentley Arnaj possible.
I've never driven one, but they do look gangster. I would have thought that that would be...
Did you drive it up there or back down? No, we drove it there on a truck, I think.
Yeah, you should drive one of them. Yeah, I would love to. That would be a perfect car.
They're probably good value, right? They're not expensive these days. They are cheap.
They're cheap and they're expensive to maintain. I didn't want to say that, you know.
They're expensive to keep running, which is why. But if you want to use one every day,
then they're good. You have to use them a lot. It's a great car.
Our friend, Alana Scheer, who writes about cars for a lot of people, mainly car and driver,
just bought one to use as a daily driver. They're just working out okay.
For here, you sit in traffic so much, it's the perfect... I mean, I drove around the
Seaford Lightway the last few days. It's not the perfect car for that. Because you're in traffic
the whole time, it's loudest. Yeah, you can say fuck. Okay, fuck. Yeah, it's loud as fuck.
No, yeah, LA is a two-car solution kind of town. You have your traffic car and then you have your
fun car. Yeah, in this case, your Porsche. In other people's cases, you see some other things.
My case, Porsche as well. But yeah, dude, I really thought Willow did... It looks great.
The buildings look great. Track looks great. It's fun. It's amazing. I mean, the history alone
already makes it cool, I think. There's so much heritage, right? Ken Miles. Built in 1953 and
never fucking once updated. Also, the light makes everything look better over there. And like,
the desert is also a good backdrop. I think it's a great place. But it's really funny. I was telling
Sam and these other guys, because it was really windy and dusty, which is like what happens there.
I mean, that's what it is. It's like, man, you guys got a lot of money, but you cannot fucking buy
the wind away out here. I thought the wind was nice though, because otherwise it would have been way
too hot. It is nice, unless you leave the top down for 90 minutes in your 718 Spider and you come
back to find just a... It was bad. It was really bad. Zach left his windows cracked. I did. It was a
window cracked so people could see my new interior. And then I saw the wind kick up. Oh, no.
Everywhere. Yeah, you can't beat the elements there, but it looks beautiful. That is a nice...
That is a very California thing though, right? Leaving the top down. Yeah, always. Just not
minding putting it up. You can never live like that in Germany or like in Austria. No. It's
yeah. On the 718 Spider RS press launch, I had to take the top up and off and put it back on,
I think, four times in six hours. Where was that? In the roads that Andy Prowdinger likes
outside of Stuttgart. Yeah, I couldn't tell you what the roads are, but you probably like know
what they are. I have no idea, honestly. Really? I didn't grow up in Stuttgart. I mean, I am there
quite often. You don't know where the portion of people drive outside of Stuttgart. It's there.
It's whatever that is. So where did you grow up? In Munich. Okay. Yeah. My mom's in the movie
business and that's kind of in Munich and my dad was between Stuttgart and Salzburg, so back and
forth. Okay. And you're an architect now? Yeah, I studied architecture in Vienna. And was that
always a dream for you? No, I think I kind of wanted to do my... I like having my own thing,
right? I think if you come from my family, it's kind of easy to be caught in, in a sense,
and I always wanted to do my own. I love studying something that gives you a hard skill,
and then you can do something. I didn't want to... After school, I was like, okay, now I have all
the options. What do I do? Sure. Like business? Boring. What do I do after, right? So architecture
was one thing that I was always interested in, and I kind of like the idea of changing a place
and making it nicer. I think every architect has this feeling of like, let's try to make the world
a better place in a sense. Like, you know, it's a very optimistic job until you actually do the job.
The building, an integrated space and all that stuff. Do you have a favorite... Is it homes?
Is it like big commercial buildings or whatever? No, I really like studying. So it's whatever. So
we have a lot of car related projects. I wonder why. And then we did everything from a small bar
in Vienna that we just did the interior to like a lung practice with apartments on top, to renovating
an old castle, to... Yeah, so it's all different jobs. And then like, obviously, like my master's
thesis, for example, I redesigned one of these auto-grilled bridges in Italy. Cool. So like,
always kind of want to like, always try to kind of merge the two worlds. Those are like the big
rest stop. Like, it's a huge bridge. You go inside the cafeteria thing. Yeah. And you know,
we don't like holiday at home. So we always go other places and kind of this, seeing that
bridge for the first time always means like you're on holidays, because like you've entered Italy.
And so they have like this kind of romantic, like it's a really romantic thing nowadays,
kitch maybe even. But I think back in the days, it was a very like optimistic era, right? It was the
car was like there for the first time. And like people would drive the motorway, the motorway was
new. And like everything was very positive. And you would like look over the Italian countryside
and like lots of cars driving fast underneath you. It's a different. It's like, it's, it's a,
it's not high end, but it's like a more relaxed rest area where you're eating and the high end
comes from the quality of like the food and stuff. Right. But that's just the whole, that's the whole
country is one euro and it's, that's the whole way. We'll never figure that out here. You know,
but like, but we also have a certain type of restaurant that doesn't exist there. Yeah. The
sort of like bistro, like the sort of like bistro-y type restaurant, like they have the those,
the, the, the, for lack of a better term, the gas station restaurants, which are actually quite good,
which they have sort of, you know, instead of a lot of the McDonald's and shit like that.
But then we have a restaurants that are like a one notch above that that they kind of don't have.
And they skip to the next level to like a little more fine dining traditional.
Yeah. I guess probably the auto grill is like the only kind of like car focused thing, right?
Like car focused restaurant, I would say in Italy, like, because the cities are so dense,
etc. It's probably different here, right? Here you probably drive to every restaurant.
Unfortunately, unfortunately, you have to. The cities are just different, right?
Yeah, they're set up for, yeah. But yeah. So I always kind of like liked sort of skipping from,
or like jumping back and forth from cars and architecture.
When you were doing like car projects, the auto grill is one, but were you doing like
car museum, car storage facility or like man KV kind of shit?
Yeah, we did like just for the fun of it, we did. We designed a version for the Petersen,
then like how the Petersen could look if it would be redone and like just for the fun of it, right?
And then we also, there's a collector outside of Vienna who wanted us to design a garage for him
where he could keep his cars. Didn't happen so far, but it's going to happen one day.
And yeah, so the Mankai we designed. So, you know, our coffee stop on the highest mountain
in Austria, where we like. So yeah, that's pretty cool. I mean, that's like, when I think of your
brand fat, which I want to talk about this is really, because it's when I first saw it,
it was really one of those like, all right, what are these people actually doing?
It's cool though. It looks cool, fat. It's on a bunch of like merch and cars, but like,
you know, like same as like, you know, our friends, Jacob and over at race service,
you know, like they have a shop, but like, what are you guys actually doing here?
But then you built this coffee shop on top of the mountain. And I was like, Oh,
that's very pretty. What is going on there? So you're, you're doing architecture. You're
dipping your toe in various car projects. And then you decide to maybe get into a little bit of
ice racing. Yeah. Okay. I suppose and kind of started the whole thing, actually. Okay. So I
was in the middle of uni still, and kind of stumbled across this ice race, because my dad
had bought a car that used to race in the, in the historic ice races. So from the 50s to the 70s,
in Salamzee in Austria, they had, they were racing on the frozen lake and they had like
550s and like three, five, sixes and all different sorts of cars. And it was like 10,000 people
there. And it just looked, I never heard about this before, right? So I'd like, because of that car,
I kind of researched and then I thought, Hmm, maybe that would be like looking sports like
photographically, it just looks like beautiful. And I thought like, there was a real chance to
bring this back into our like day and age, right? Everything is very Instagramable in a sense.
Maybe I could do my version of like, like, how do we do in a car event that would attract a younger
crowd, maybe people who don't like cars yet, but who would actually like them? Because I always,
I was always like studying architecture, but obviously having a car background.
Architects are the biggest fans of cars, right? Because like they want the cities to be like
free to them and blah, blah, blah. So I think there was always, but there is a,
like there, there are many connections between those things, right? And I think the car is
like the perfect conversation starter. It's like engineering, it's design, it's like so many people
can see different things in cars that they like. So I always thought like, it's actually kind of
weird that like not everybody loves cars. You should change that. I think people like pretty
cars, I think people kind of get it when they, when they see a car like doing its specialty,
if it has one, people get that. Like, I mean, just, you know, my wife as an example, you know,
she doesn't really know much about cars or really care about driving dynamics. But if she sees
something that's striking, she goes, well, look at that, you know, and she's on Facebook marketplace,
like, can I buy this? And it's like a fucking Daihatsu K truck. I'm like, no, no, no, no,
I must have this. I'm like, we don't need a mini dump truck, maybe.
But, but like, and there are people that really don't get it. But like, how do you look and we've
got a picture up of what looks like a 959 or some type of Porsche rally car towing a skier,
which that's the best version of ice racing is towing the skier. That is the best version of it.

speaking of ice racing, we're bringing that to Montana next year. Like they do the
skiering with horses in Montana too. Well, it should be part of ice racing, right? Yeah,
maybe. At the end, maybe. Once the once the cars don't need the ice anymore, like let the horses
fucking have a whack at it. I think it was a great time. We just towed each other around the
morning. So fun. Yeah, last race of the last race of the event is the one horsepower cup.

that is like fun over speed. That's the motto of it. Also, how do you get like a different crowd
of people into this? Plus, obviously, everybody who's already excited about cars and people who
bring the cool shit, but also like the younger generation, like people who maybe don't understand
that much yet or have no like no way to entry yet, but maybe seek it right because it is a cool
one. It's happening. And it's a very as I said, like cars are just a good conversation starter.
It's like it's also really accessible. Like, you know, if you're standing either like where
these people are on the up on the berms, you know, it looks amazing in these still photos,
but in reality, it's sideways and fairly slow. And so you've got people that are willing to
drift a Miura that might otherwise have been like absolutely not because it's such a low risk
environment, but it ends up looking really cool. Yeah, people get to hear them like revving the
snot out of this thing. And so unlike just a concourse or whatever, it's like it's in motion.
Yeah, that makes it exciting. Yeah, that's what I that's another angle that I like. It makes people
use their cars and in environments that they would probably usually don't really do that. So
getting together and like having a good time in the snow ideally is not I look I'm coming this
year to Montana. I heard about it. I'm already in that where I talked to Philip, we're getting
get spikes for my radial Manx. He has a spot on the truck. I'll have to put the all weather covers
on the seats. But like, and you know, let's go, right? What are they for? All weather covers?
Dude, the only thing about my Manx that's like less than perfect is that the seats are not
waterproof. I don't wish they were because they're gorgeous. But what are the seats?
Leather. They're like the sport buckets, but they put heating elements in them for me. It's
awesome. So it'll be perfect for ice racing. That is perfect. But they made some like nice covers
for once. So for when I wash it, they don't get completely wrecked. They do. Philip does, they

that's that's one reason why I was so fond of ice racing and why I maybe decided to also do this
because my dad gave my brother and me a weekend in Finland, kind of like driving school. Yeah,
my brother made his the driving license. He was 18. I was 21 and he was like, okay, guys,
boys, you got to learn how to drive. Let's go to Finland. Cool. Port to Porsche ice experience.
So nice. I went up there. It's unbelievable. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They have so many tracks. Yeah.
Like, what were you, what did you drive? Everything I think from like four wheel drive
stuff, turbo, but also like real drive, everything. Did you drive Taycans? No,
there were no Taycans back then. Oh, okay. I'm older than I look. All right. They had,
they have them up there now. They're supposed to be just unbelievable. Yeah, I got to drive GT4
all the time and like four wheel drive is more like is arguably more fun in like on the ice.
Yeah, you can just be like more sideways. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I drove GT4 RS club sport on spikes
and it was the greatest. The pilot's ace. But now they have now they have Taycans up there.
They have that cool, like the, the turbocharger. You've seen the giant like truck thing GT thing.
No, no, no. They're they're huge semi truck that they use to charge the things. They can charge
10 Taycans at once. That shit is nuts. Yeah, they built a whole barn around it. So the coolest thing
they had when I was there was a 918 sick at a 918 on spikes, but they wouldn't use that on the
small tracks. They used it on the big roads to lead to the track and they didn't let me drive it
also. What a bummer. But like one of the instructors took us like on a fast run through like
basically on all the roads that would lead to the different tracks like speed. That was insane.
918 rally car. That's pretty, that's pretty awesome. So sick. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was nuts.
What would be your, your, your ultimate. So you like, you like four wheel drive for, for ice?
Yeah. Okay. So for you, it's your lightweight C four is just it. That's the jam. Okay. Okay. I
think that's a perfect. It's just loud. It's forward drive. You can adjust it. So it can,
can be a little more real, right? You know, like, oh, it has the bias. Yeah. So it's,
that's pretty cool. Like, is that like out of 9, 5, 9, that piece of tech? It's out of 9, 5, 3.

you know, that's fun. It kind of encapsulates everything. And no, so jokes aside, we did
Ice Race twice before COVID. So 2019 and 20. And as I said, that was more of a,
yo, it would be so cool if this would be back. Why not do it? So it was more of like a why not
approach. And then during COVID, obviously figured that I might have a bit like an Ice Race free
year basically. And I thought there is some like potential here, right? Like there was already kind
of a community building around Ice Race. People would go for drives in the summer. The partners
were kind of excited about it. I was excited about it because I met so many cool people through it.
And it was kind of, it was just fun to organize that, right? It was like a big, big, big birthday
party. It's not my birthday, but it was just a very like nice thing to like meet people, etc.
So I figured there's some potential there. And then I kind of thought, okay, but like if I have
Ice Race only, then like I can never do something in the summer, or it's going to be hard to do
other stuff, right? I was kind of like, I always love clothes and sneakers and like
product and general. So I thought like, I want to be able to do more things with like what I've
started there. And so I looked through all the Le Mans winning cars of Porsche because I figured
maybe like Ice Race, I would find something with heritage that doesn't exist anymore that you could
kind of like bring back and revive. And it took like two and a half minutes. And I was coming across
like, wait, there's a brand called Fat? Yeah, I look like 97 and 94 Fat International sponsors
a Le Mans winning Porsche. And I'm like, what the fuck is Fat International? Yeah. And yeah,
a shipping company, right? It used to be a shipping company for fashion from Paris to like
from France to Germany. So it stands for Francais, Almond Transit, which I like another layer that
I really liked, right? The truckers kind of the underdog story, right? The truckers that go and
like win Le Mans. That's also kind of a good and then it kind of had this like street style name,
right? Like this, like very, like it kind of encapsulated everything that Ice Race laid out.
And it felt like the perfect sort of umbrella brand for what we wanted to do. And now we're kind
of building and building around. Yeah, it seems to be like working. I mean, I actually think you
guys are like, the brand like sort of aesthetic is like pretty similar, I think, to what Manx is
doing. You guys just don't have a car to sell. You know, you're doing events and stuff like
and other products. We can sell cars. Huh? Do you? You're selling cars now? I mean.
Hi, Fatty Portia. Nice to meet you. I mean, no, I thought you know, I thought you don't work there.
Are we selling cars or not? We don't sell cars. Yeah, no, Fat doesn't sell cars.

you know, it's just the aesthetic is similar just in service of different stuff.
Yeah, I think similar, like you mentioned Manx, like what is their tagline is miles for miles.
And I mean, it's similar, right? Like with Fat, I want to create something that is like fun and
open to like accessible and exciting. And like the whole, like if you think back to all those
like old liveries and if you look at old photos of motorsport, everything always is so aesthetically
pleasing and nice and the cars look nice and the like some graphic designer took a lot of like
made a lot of effort for everything to align well and to look good. So I kind of want to bring that
like effort back into what we do. Yeah, when there's like five sponsors, not 50. Yes. Yeah,
that probably also made a difference. Yeah. But I think it's also the way it's like lay out it
lay out, lay out it laid out. Yes. So there it is. Yeah. So all right. So how many we're doing

It's okay. Sometimes I'm a moron too. When you I mean, look, when you're when your last name
is Porsche, obviously there's like everybody has fucking expectations of you.
Which is probably like a lot of pressure. It's probably also kind of cool. Right. Like when
you're like, like when you're 16 and your name is Porsche, is that awesome?
I feel like it's getting more awesome the older you become and more like you have found your own
thing. Right. Yeah. Then I feel like it's it's a really cool thing when you're 16. I think like
or the younger you are, I feel like you still want to kind of like fit in and not like
and so I felt like in school, like I always rather wanted like anyways, I went to a public
school in Germany. So it was always kind of like always had like friends from all different
tribes of life. And it was always like, yeah, I always just wanted to fit in the sense of my own
character. But of course, like it comes with upsides and downsides, the upsides you can
drive like really cool cars. Yeah, yeah. That's a solid perk. That is really good. Yeah,
especially if you really like the things also. Yeah. So kind of growing up going to all different
car events and like always close to the brand in a sense, it's it's an advantage that that the
product is cool and that you actually can fall in love with it. Do you have a relative that you
don't have to name or anything, but for whom the name is like a full on curse, like hates cars,
just wishes they never had to talk about it ever? No, nobody hates cars. I think everybody likes
cars. Like everybody kind of sees the I mean, it's also cool. Like, it's, you know, it's,
it's in a sense, it's a family business right now. It's like super big and probably not
your typical family business in a sense anymore. But everybody kind of has a nice
relation to the brand. I want to say, I think people are general proud also of like, sure,
I don't know what their forefathers have done in a sense. There's stuff to learn from them
in a positive and a negative way. And like, I think it's just a cool, like it's a crazy
history also, right? Yeah, it is. It's a good history. And it's a history that the fans of the
brand have done a very good job of keeping alive with their own magazines and movies and
television shows and museums and whatever. And then Porsche really at kind of the right time
in the global car, enthusiasm said, Hey, wait a minute, we better start publicly,
you know, finding ways to support our own history as being one of, you know,
motorsport and aesthetic and color and material and everything. Porsche is one of the few
luxurious brand brands. I want to say, even though like it's one of the few brands that
has a luxurious product that is at the same time very accessible. You know, I think that started
from like the nine 12s and people like modifying them. And like, we won't punish people who like,
fuck with our cars in a sense. Sure. Ferrari kind of like it will never sell you.
Which is a very like open, community driven thing in a sense, right? Yeah, I agree.
Instant friends and they just like love the brand, I think for, for its values, right? For
building lightweight, smart, I don't know, form follows function for like, continuing the same
silhouette over like 60 years. And like, I think like people really buy it, like there's a huge
fan base. Well, it's a good glue for that fan base to stretch across a bunch of generations. And I
think that's what really helps them. And also the cars have stood up to that reputation over a
number of decades. So there's they were cool in the 60s, they're cool now, the quality is pretty
good and consistent across the whole like life cycle. And I think all of that means it just has
a more powerful magnet for everyone to be a fan of it doesn't matter what generation they're a fan of.
Yeah. And the cars, you know, if you, if you, I think if you have a 911 for the weekends, you're
likely to get a Macan or a Cayenne or a Panamera for every day because you enjoy
interacting with that type of machine. And even if it's, you know, front engine and heavy or
electric or whatever, that the way that it, you know, that the steering wheel feels in your hands,
the way the driving position is set up and all that, you go, well, this is, this is set up for
someone who gives a shit about the driving position. It's not just like, you know, like,
not to shit on them too much, but like the Volkswagen Golf R has a fabulous driving position.
The fucking Tiguan does not, you know what I mean? Like, and so, like, it's not, it's not as
consistent in that way. Yeah, I mean, I think it's just a different, like obviously Porsche is
focused on people who like to drive, right? But I have, like my wife has a, has a Taycan
Cross Turismo, which is a Cross Turismo 4, which is like the softest Taycan that exists. Yeah.

when your last name is Porsche, when do you get to order a car that doesn't exist?

spent much time in one, like 10 minutes. I'm super excited. Me neither. I mean, not much, right? I've
been in one and I've driven one, but like not a thousand miles. Yeah, I know I had to like beg for
this. A petition. Yeah, right. Um, carding. So you the the actual like real reason that you're here
just being being being cool and being in town doesn't count. Unfortunately, no. Yes. But, um,
the reason that that you your your folks got in touch with me is because you're starting a
carding league or have started a carding league, fat carding. Yeah. And why what are we doing here?
What's the deal? Okay, so like when we when we came up with the idea of fat and kind of like
building this world around the brand, right from events to product to like offline experiences,
etc. Like kind of like thinking like what makes this cool? Like one of the immediate problems
that you stumble across when you think of motorsport is that it's not accessible.
It's not to find like the people that built the engines, but it's so expensive, right?
And especially if you want to make it, um, if you want to go to like if you want to make it to
F1 or if you want to make it to like one of the pro championships, there is no like clear path,
right? If you play football, for example, being very European now, but if you play football,
the one with the feet, the one with the feet. Um, then you kind of like you start playing and
at some point, if you're better, you go to like semi professional team and you kind of like go
through the, go through the like you climb the step ladder basically. And if you're good enough,
like it's a merit-based thing. Teams exist and you can join those teams and they will recruit you
and teams are always looking and whatever, which does not happen in racing ever. Exactly. It's
it's like this completely, um, like 1.6 billion people watch the sport, like Formula One now.
Um, but 20 people competed it. Exactly. Nobody can like really, there's no, okay, question.
How much do you think the average F1 driver spent from the age of five to getting into F1?
Oh my God. To just getting their first seat in there? Yeah.
Spending seat or first gentleman's seat? No, first seat, like first time sitting in F1.
God. What's like in a race? I bet it's $5 million. $33 million.
Like on average, obviously there is like different stories, but it's getting like,
because the sport is more and more. Someone spent $300 million and someone spent $300 million.
People are willing to like really spend a lot of shit ton of money, right? And it's a sport where
you basically, because there is no like step ladder that is like thought, like thought through and
like it's not a merit-based thing. You can basically, if you want to be scouted by an F1 team,
you like have to drive European karting championship, which is author thing, right?
It's only Europe. Like if you drive American karting championships, no like F1 scout will
come to you and like see you. And also it's such a like numbers driven sport, right? The spot
stopwatch doesn't die, but then there's some guy going to a track in Europe just looking at you
and like, okay, I maybe how much money do you bring? So the whole idea basically was,
so I met Rob Smedley, the guy who started the karting league. And we got in touch,
like he was looking for investors back then. It was like one and a half years ago. And I
immediately loved the idea. And then I kind of told him what I do with fat. And we felt that it was
super much, right? Like we try to open up the spectator side of motorsport and make it more
fun and inclusive and younger and wilder. And he like had built a tool to really
mess with the system that was not existing, right? And so like the whole idea of fat karting
league is that it's a league that is merit based. And we got the cost down by 96% of a
karting season. So it's still not like just getting a football and like playing, but it's way, way
deeper. And it's respect cards, your cards, we build the cards ourselves. Rob like obviously had
spent 25 years of his life in Formula One. So he like brought some of his like co engineers at
Ferrari or Williams or wherever to his team. And they developed a car that is meant to be
a proper race car. So it's it handles well, it drives the right corner the same way it drives
the left corner, although like, like the battery packs are positioned so it works like that.
It's electric. It's an arrive and drive system. So you basically buy your ticket,
and then just come to one of our races and drive and we collect the data and we see who's fastest
and you race for points. And then ultimately, if you win, you will be a part of the fat
racing team, which is what we launched this week. Formula four. Formula four. You will win a
so you win a seat for so it's like almost like a grand like a Gran Turismo GT Academy,
but with carts instead of video games, you get a real seat in a real car. Yes. And that seat is a
is a covered seat. Yeah, it's fully funded. Yeah, fully funded. And like we plan to really build
like a full blown race team, right? Like we plan to build a four F three F two and and basically
have the kids like create a lead basically that is the funnel for the series. And you're maintaining
you're like you hold the carts like I show up with my helmet in my suit, not I but a kid.
Yes, they don't have to like physically bring the cart. No, basically that's so the way the system
works now is you have to buy a cart, you have to like have a mechanic or your dad or your mom be
the mechanic, you have to buy tires, you have to like sign up for events, you have to drive there,
you have to drive the car there, you have to like do all these different things. And obviously,
there is ways to cheat, right? There's ways to just spend more money than the other kids and
then you will be better. You have like the better mechanic, you buy the newer engine,
you buy the fresher tires, you so there's ways to like cheat your cheat. There's ways.
That's like kind of what racing is. And so people do right. And we thought if you take a step back
almost every sport that is kind of that is democratized and that people can really play.
Like that's pretty sure that the fastest driver hasn't raced yet, right? Although Max is very fast.
And someone in Sub-Saharan Africa can beat Max if given the chance. Maybe.
Math says so. Math says someone in fucking Mongolia. I think Max believes the same by the way.
Max for example believes in the whole sort of video game thing also. Like a lot, right? He drives
Nurburgring with one of his sim racing colleagues, I think. So I believe in the sim racing thing too,
right? I just think you do need some seat time also at some point. It's just more fun also,
you've tried the kart. I tried the kart. Yeah, I tried the kart and I am like fat. It's like I'm
like I'm actually fat. It's I don't think the karts, I mean granted. That is good. We already
established that. I had a fabulous time. I mean this is the league is for kids of what age?
Five to 17. Okay. So granted most of those kids are probably going to be smaller and lighter than
me. Having said that, the kart was fabulous. The power was great. The brakes were very predictable.
It oversteered on both entry and exit, which I found fabulous. The steering, the normal steering
input actually flexed the chassis a bit, which is interesting. And then you can do your normal
bend the wheel and really fucking land on the nose. If you bend it more, you can lift the inside
front wheel. Yeah. It was a really nice kart to drive. It was a lot of fun and it maintained its
pace for the whole, I mean our races were pretty short, but I don't know how long,
how long is the battery intended to last in that kart? 20 minute race? Yeah, like we basically
charged them between so that we have three different sizes of karts just for the different
age groups and we charged them in between. I don't even know like maybe half an hour. Yeah.
No, he said it charges from in about a half hour it will charge up, but I don't know if I
like I ran I don't know five, six laps of the track. I don't know if that's the length of a race.
I think the length of a race is more like 20 minutes, 25 minutes. Yeah, so it
for at least as long as I was driving it, it made full power. Yeah, it will make full power the
whole time. Yeah, yeah. No, they're designed to be proper like race karts and also it's not like
the Taycan for example, that delivers all the torque immediately. Yeah, and it builds. The
kart is built to like to mimic the power curve of a combustion engine because obviously that's what
the kids ideally at some point are able to get into right at four or three or two. Yeah, and on
cold tires the instant torque does you no favors and you know compared to and like you can cheat,
right? You can cheat yourself out of a corner. If you like if you then go to combustion like you
have to learn how to really drive right and keep the revs up and make sure you carry as much speed
as possible and not just like to yourself would like all the power out. Yeah, no the car it worked
and left foot braking worked. It doesn't kill all the power if you left foot brake. You can you
can actually drive the car. It was very, very fun. I had a really nice time in the new track surface
that Willow is good. Yeah, mega the car. The car track looks super cool. Yeah, the whole sort of
so how it works is basically we build hubs all over the place. So we are now at three hubs. So we
have the original one in the UK where Rob is based and where we already ran three seasons. So this
is already the third generation of cart. And we now feel very comfortable that the cart like
delivers to all the like to all the standards that we put on it. And then now we expand basically.
So this year we open two hubs in the States one in the Indianapolis, Chicago area one in Southern
California. And then next year another four and the year after eight. So we want to get to 50 hubs
in the next five years. Is the Southern California one going to be at Willow Springs?
So a hub usually like goes to many tracks. So it's one geography got it but then it goes to
many tracks. You will find it in like I think we in California or in Southern California we have
like 405. There's another new track like K one outdoor track in like Temecula that looks really
cool. Yeah, try to check it out. It looks pretty sick. Nice. But these carts were really fun. I

still feel like a Porsche regardless of powertrain or class? That's a very good question. Steering
is good steering steering and braking. Yeah. I think are the most important and very Porsche
specific attributes to I have to agree. Yeah. There's not a car in the lineup that
steers badly or stops badly. That would be bad. Yeah, that would be a real problem.

electric one. Yeah, I think there is now a collab with Froscher, which is like an Austrian boat
builder and they put like the Macan powertrain EV. Yeah. Like it's pretty because most of the

And I drove a 356 and within, it was within about a month of driving a Gullwing.
And I was like, yo, what were they doing over there in the 50s? Like these cars stop and turn
and shift nice. Like when I learned that you could just daily a 356 without having to give up
like anything. I was like, oh, that's, this is a different type of car building.
I once drove the Minimilia with my dad in a speedster and it was, it was mega because like
you, you obviously compete with the Gullwings with the Jaguars of the time and with all that
like stuff that has like way more horsepower. And the advantage of the 356 is you just like,
you don't have to break in front of the corner. You can just like go through it because it's
also so light, right? And those are like really cool cars. But maybe for someone who has never
driven any other 50s car, like it's better to start with something new.
