You're listen Let's Talk Cars Radio on WKQA Freedom Radio. I'm your host,
Big a VP, hanging out with Camera Chaos and eight VB. It is
Saturday, man, it is a great weekend for a car show. It's
a great weekend for a radio show. Um. I know some people are
like, where are you at? Hey, where I'm at? The weather's
a little sketchy, but hey, people listen all over America to the radio show. They definitely weren't alone. I was wondering too, because I'm like,
it's where we windy out there. Look, you guys gotta understand.
I get people to listen all over the country, So it's a nation wide radio show. People who listen to it all of the place. And I
know the weather is great in certain places sometimes here it's not. So you
know, everybody's like where he'll be here? Yeah, if if you don't
like in the weather hand roads, given an hour, he'll change. So
I everybody's like, hey, you know I listen to the show today and you're like, it's a great day for a car show. Where were you
at? And I'm like, look, you gotta understand. I got people
listening in California, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, you name it, where they're at, it can be a great day for a car Show's seen across the water, like I got what was it? Um start of an eye?
Ireland? I think that we had why had the guy from Israel?
He was this like it is a great day for a car show. I
was like, see, see my location map shows me where you guys are listening. Yes, it does. So anytime you guys tagging it shows us
where you guys are at. Sometimes it's across the pond, you know.
You know, I get people all over well, all over the world.
Sometimes tagging we get a lot of soldiers that are over there, uh you know, fighting and stuff. And when they're not they're sitting on base a
tagging and and sent of stuff some pictures of cars with projects they got sitting they can't wait to get back and work on and stuff. So yeah,
it's a crazy thing. It's very humbling for a lot of the people at
tagging and tell me where they're listening to. So very very cool. Hey,
if you guys missed it, I know the show got moved from Saturday to Sunday last week. But what an awesome time we had out there.
Camera's already smiling. He already knows where I'm going with this. We had
a great time out at the car show. We got to hang out with
all of our friends. Um, it was a good time. I haven't
had that much fun, to be honest with you guys at a car show in a little while. We got into a great bidding war on a bunch
of the different stuff that was out there. We took home some trophies for
being a top supporter. Shout out to Teresa McDaniel. You know, she
was an awesome sport in it and everything and she was definitely having a battle.
We have huge battle. We end up sniping a trophy from her,
but it was all in good fun. We had a great time. Up
over my shoulder, there's some new trophies, so it's definitely cool. We
got another one over here. This on the table raised a lot of great
money for that event. As you guys know, this is all community driven.
You guys know, I tell you guys over and over and over again.
Community driven, community driven, community driven. Everything's for the community.
Big shout out to our sponsors NAPA, the BDG Group for being involved with that. Also, Triple A is hugely involved this year into everything. Hold
on camera's hold the trophy always removed the camp. If you guys watching on
Facebook, camera's got you know it is. I'm gonna have to make it
up to her next time. So yeah, like I said, we had
a we had a great time. We're out there with Doctor Mark one oh
six one Coastal Auto Events, so you guys and how that goes. Really
really good time out there, guys, Like I said, We had a great time, had the whole family out there, handed out tons and tons of merchant stuff, a lot of different things. Like I said, you
know, so we had all the different sponsors out there representing. It was
a really good event. There's gonna be a lot of great events out there
this year. If you guys happened to be here in the ham Roads area,
you guys are traveling through and stuff, take a look. Go on
over to the website and check it out and see all the different listings that we have going on for events. Like I said, you guys could be
on vacation. You guys want to stop through and hang out for a Saturday
or a Sunday event. Just go look go seven five seven Auto events.
You guys can head over to our page and take a look. See what
we guys got going on. We're always mentioned them. Here's a big thing
that we are pushing this year. Guys, you're gonna want to be involved
big, big, big things. So Wheels and Reels, Yeah, it's
got a name this this time that's actually pretty sticking. We're getting really involved
in that huge, huge event. This is really cool. So if you
guys like the old time and I'm really big into it if you like the old drive ins. So we are doing a drive in style this year,
all year long. We're trying to start it in some of the cooler times,
so they're gonna be starting in April. We have in April twenty ninth
date, May twenty seventh date, in August twenty sixth date, September thirtieth date, in an October twenty eighth date. And this is for wheels and
reels. Yes it is. I hear somebody ping me too, so I'm
gonna make sure I guess something out there, so it is set up.
If you guys, sorry, I had somebody was pinging me, so I'll see what it was. If you guys are really into that, and I
really hope that you are spread the word out to everybody. We're gonna be
doing old style, just like they've done in the pass, but we're gonna really try to put a big efence into it this year. Drive in a
theater, movies out there at Landstown Common. Come out there, hang out,
sit set up chairs, sit on the tailgate, do it old style, sit in your car, face it however you want to do it.
We don't care. It's gonna be a really cool setup this year. We
got a lot of sponsors coming on board for this for a lot of dates.
We are actually gonna be hosting two different events ourselves out there Less Talk Cars Radio with some great sponsor. Speed Auto Service is gonna be sponsoring your
event on the twenty six You're gonna have Rolling with a Night's sponsoring on it or hosting it looks like for the thirtieth, and then you're gonna have a sponsor Liberty Transmission on the twenty eighth, and then we'll be hosting that event as well. So there's a lot of stuff going into this year. I
hear the very first movie this year is going to be Top Gun, so kind of cool, nice nostalgic, great movie, great things for the kids, bring them out, popcorn and all kinds of stuff. Like I said,
big big thing. I heard Mulan is going to be doing finger foods
and it looks like you know, you got out there firehouse sub and stuff.
So like I said, definitely get the word out to talk to community.
If you were in any of the community groups with on Facebook, post it in your guys's neighborhood and stuff a group and let everybody know to get out there, come out there and support this event. This is all for
community events, all this stuff. Like you know, a lot of these
people who don'tate their time and stuff, money goes back, they can take it and to take it to their charity, whatever they're doing into their group.
So please, please please get the word out. I wanted to make
a big us thing before we got into today's kind of topics and stuff that you guys know about this, So once again, please support this. This
is big putting a lot of effort into this year. Like I said,
we're hoping this continues to grow. You know, I'd like to see you
know, two hundred cars out there watching you know, movies and stuff.
That's what we're pushing for. It's a big event, a lot of time,
a lot of effort put into this. Guys. Please tell everybody you
know, let's get out there. And oh, man Fred, if you're
listening, I hope that you make yourself out to one of these events so you and I can hang out watch one of these movies. So I will
definitely be put on your calendar. Buddy. I'm gonna be out there at
the twenty sixth one of August and I'm gonna be out there at October twenty eighth one. So that's two events. You have no reason not to come
out and see these. So moving off, you guys, ready, there
you go, absolutely so here is a scary kind of event. You guys
know that it's Wiper season, right, We're in Wiper season, Yes we are? Okay, whip per seversp what white season? Why? First season?
Because I put other ones on the head and put these things on Wiper season. So you guys know how I love that. I've told you guys
a million times. I love my boss Wipers. It's like, so I
rode as passenger with my wife yesterday. Now I don't ride passenger very often.
Just doesn't happen. Uh. Not that I'm a control for krane thing,
because I'm not really control freak. I just like an inflatable jacket.
Like, oh, I put my seatbelt on and the car didn't beep at us. A couple of times I told you the car literally drives itself,
but my wife lets it. She decides to drive and not let the car
do the driving. So of course why she's doing the driving, it is
telling her everything she's doing wrong. Why she drives. So I it's been
bad, bad, bad weeks of migraines. Those who know know me and
listen to the show. You guys know, I suffered from serious migraines.
It's very debilitating and keeps me down a lot of times. So I couldn't
drive yesterday. I just didn't have it in me. So she's like,
hey, let's get you out of the house at least, and I'll drive.
So I get in the car with her. So I'm already, you
know, not feeling all that well as it is. I'm sitting in the
car with her and she's doing the drive and it's raining, making all of your senses go on. Oh yeah, it's already messing me up as it
is. So I probably probably shouldn't have gotten the car in the first place,
but I did need to get try to get up and get out.
So we decided to do that and we're gonna run up wraps food and just come back. So I'm in the car with her, and my head's already
hurting, and it's and today it's it's it's lingering in the back. It's
I can feel like it's going to be one of those days. Either I'm
gonna get a really nasty one, or maybe it's just gonna lay kind of low in the back today. But I can feel it already. If you
guys can't tell. And what it does, it makes me search for words
a little bit more, is one of the problems I have with it.
So I'm riding with her and it starts to sprinkle and she turns the windshow wipers on. Now I don't about you, guys, but I cannot handle
a windshow wiper that makes noise. So me trying to be pleasant and already
having that migraine, that's just a nagging migraine. The windshow wipers are just
going kirk kerk no. It was it's time for winshow wipers on her car,
and it's just making that noise, and I'm just trying to be It's so when you get really bad migraines. If you guys don't know, it's
hard to be pleasant to anybody. It's just it's the hardest thing in the
world. My kids know I Unfortunately I'll lash out and I have to apologize
because you're your nervous system and stuff and everything goes through. It's really hard
to stay pleasant. With people, so you are overly nice to people because
you're trying to stay pleasant. So I am just sitting in the car,
and me being a car guy, I'm like, why do we have winshow wipers on our cars that make noise? Like why hasn't this been addressed yet?
Now, keep in mind, I knew we were getting close to the windshow wipers on that car, So I'm partly at fault here because I knew that it was getting close. Because a as I leave the studio today,
I will get a message where somebody reminds me and goes, wait a minute, you were told they were getting close and haven't done anything about it, So I already know. I'm no, they've known those of the truck,
so I know there's gon be wait minute, I told you. But I
know how to turn them on when they're getting close and where they don't make noise. I can make them where they don't sit there and constantly make a
noise every time they go from no apparently it doesn't bother anybody else. So
as I sit as I sit in the passenger seat of the car, and they just go kirk kirk kerk Kirk. Now, keep in mind I live
in the country, so it takes a little while to get to like civilization.
So how many times do you think it made that noise there? And
on the way back, I didn't say anything. I made it through the
trip out of the country to go get food. I made it almost to
the turn of our driveway on the way back, and I sat there and then finally my wife turns to me and goes, do you think we need some new winshow wipers? I'm like, thank god you said something. I
have sat here and kept my mouth shut and no, because I know better.
I was gonna lose it if I said something. But I finally just
burst it out and I was like and it was loud too. I know
it was probably over dramatic. I was like, thank god something. I
have been sitting here biting my tongue this whole trip. How did you do
it? I'm like, how did you ride this whole trip with those windshow
wipers making that ever loving noise? Because she's like, because in your car
there's some things that you just mute. I mean, no, yeah,
yeah, Karen means the seatbelt noise. I'm constantly every time like he gets
on the phone with me, and his seat belt makes noise. I'm like,
dude, put your seatbelt on. Why why are you driving with the
thank you, thank you for telling me to now stop telling me, man, Like I promise you, I was just getting it go on.
Well, he calls me, like Cameron has a habit to call me just as he sits down in his car. You're like, he sit down his
car and you'll call me. And the first thing I hear every time is
the sea belt, Dean. And here's the problem. It's probably with somebody
who has severe like migraines like I do. The little noises are the most
annoying things to me. Like I don't like noise. I don't And Nathaniel'll
tell you too, I don't like any Yeah. Like, if you are
in the backseat of my vehicle and you rattle anything in my vehicle, you have distracted me, like you wouldn't believe, like you have my full on attention. If you rattle anything in the back seat, if there's if there's
anything on thee the floorboard and it rolls just a little bit and touches something instantly, you have my attention. And it's just something with having migraines that
every every little noise pulls my attention. How many times you turned around and
was like, what's that? What is it? What? Like it is?
So imagine the windshow wipers making that noise for the whole trip there and the whole trip back, and yeah, all of a sudden, she's just out of nowhere. She's like. What you're trying to say is if you
were driving, you would have probably pulled over and already reports right there, and then you have been like, yeah, yeah, yeah, needless to say, today someone's getting new Winshow wiper blades and it isn't this guy.
So yeah, it's Winshow wiper season. If you guys didn't know, it's
time to get some put on your vehicle, check them so your husband doesn't go completely nuts and or so you don't go good nuts. Just know it's
definitely time for Winch whip blades and that no, guys, that gott to take a quick commercial break. When we come back, I want to dive
into this topic that the headery of the show is about, and you're not gonna want to miss it, so whole tight I'll be right back. You're
listening to Dave Collage on Let's Talk Cars Radio. Dave will be right back.

That's seven five seven four six four one thousand and three. Welcome back
to Let's Talk Cars Radio, your automotive specialist. Now back to your host,
Dave Palach. Hey, guys, welcome back to the show. So
let's dive right into it. You guys, see, what the topic of
the show is is get in line. So it's funny how we can't seem
to really get away from the topic, but things seem to kind of change about the topic a month to month. So, as I told you,
guys, I get a lot of people that asked me about buying cars and what's going on with buying cars, new cars, used cars, everything, and a little topic within the last couple of weeks kind of flipped around.
And I think the reason why is so you guys know that manufacturers are I want to want to say, looking at different ideas, but they are looking at different ideas. So we've talked about over the last what year or so,
you know, dealerships looked at scaling down. So you remember the whole
idea of making smaller dealerships. Yeah, because they already knew that more car
dealerships could be well, cars could be purchased online rather than in person.
And we went into the discussion about, well, some people do want to actually sit in a vehicle and feel a touch and feel like how they feel in the vehicle, you know. All right, So then let's go back
to COVID time. So you know you went to a dealerships you try to
buy a car right after COVID, there wasn't a whole lot of cars on the lot because factories got shut down and yep, so inventory was at a low. Well, I think Nate and I went to a couple of car
dealerships soon we experienced that. Yeah, okay, so here's what end up
happening was he ended up having low inventory. And I think COVID, in
so many different aspects of the world, taught so many different things to people, and I think in a good way. In a bad way. So
there's a lot of rumbling on the backside of the car industry, not on the front side, but on the back side when you really start digging deep into it. And I have been doing slowly kind of feeling things out and
talking with people on the higher up of scales thing in the car market, but on the back end where people where the rumbling goes where you don't really hear a lot of things on the front end, but we hear it because we get so many media releases, and once one person in media hears something, it's like a wildfire. Now it's like you want to believe it's true,
and then when the real facts start coming out, you're like, holy crap, this was true, right right? Right? You guys ever played
the game where you whisper something? Somebody's ears the game? Right, Okay,
so it's someone's like the weird telephone game where you hear a little whisper of something, you're like, uh, and then it gains traction and then somebody else starts talking about it and then but it's nothing on the front end.
What I mean front end is where the customers here, the consumer here's you're not really it's not on the consumer end of things. It's on the
back me be a side of things where the back page the newspapers talking about it, or you know what I mean. That's that's where everything gets to
be a little bit more interesting. That is where this kind of lies.
And here's and the reason why I'm bringing it up, it's because it has traction for me, and it makes sense to me. And that's the reason
why the title of show is what it is. Get in line. And
what I mean by that is, I think we have a little bit of a situation that it's going to come around, and it's a scary situation.
The situation is where we learned how to control the car market. Okay,
I think the car market. We don't mean we still bought well, not
we, but manufacturers in general learned that people, no matter what, we're going to still buy a vehicle to get to point eight in point B no matter what the price was, they want to keep it there. Now,
okay, close, let me kind of give you some numbers. By the
way, if you guys are trying to call into the studio, you guys can always call in seven five seven two two two three seven zero five.
Just please make sure to stay on the line so we can get you connected.
Yeah, I saw, I saw the line blow up. Then I
watched somebody get disconnected. So if you are trying to call in, that's
the way to do it. I saw the line blow up twice. So
here's here's the thing. Here's some numbers. So we talked about it before.
There's been a thirty three percent increase in pricing over on the car's Okay, thirty three increases, no joke. That's a lot of money, okay,
but people are paying it. So with people paying a thirty three percent
increase, people are like, oh, well, you know, inflation and stuff like that. I think the term inflation has been being used way too
many times now now. It just seems like when COVID came came to us
in a does everybody is now quick to use the word will inflation inflation.
But let me show you how this works, just so just so you understand, okay, kind So somebody write some articles and I pulled some information some the articles that we're written, and they may do make sense. So from
two thousand and eighteen to now, okay, this is actually a pretty interesting article. Two thousand and eighteen to now an SUV over sixty thousand dollars only
fifty four percent? Only fifty four percent of SUVs over sixty thousand dollars.
Okay, does that make sense to you? And what year in two thousand,
eighteen, twenty eighteen, right, Okay, SUV's over sixty thousand dollars, you're only fifty four percent of them were only over sixty thousand? How
many? How how many percentage of it do you think now? Or over
sixty k all? SUV? Probably about seventy because they're starting now at fifty
five and going up is Daniel? What's your guests? Probably? Yeah,
ninety four percent of it su Now what's the six percent manufacturer? We haven't
heard of? I mean, like, I mean, that's just it's it's
incredible how they've managed to just push and no one's really noticed. Now,
if you go to a car some car dealerships, I've told you guys, you see these these outrageous markups for supply demand markups on the car as well.
That's you know that's happening. There's this big, huge push. So
this is where things get a little sketchy. Guys. Now, I told
you about dealerships, you know, going, hey, maybe we can we can deal with smaller dealerships because of you know, the inventory and stuff like that. What if I throw in the idea of let's just keep inventory low.
And if we keep inventory low, then we can control the price of the car because we won't have a huge volume just not shipping cars to dealerships, or like dealerships actually ordering the vehicles that they Okay, two different ways to do this now, So now we throw in the idea of, well, what if we just let people order their car? Right, we still
a ship you know, chip shortage. If I do that one more time,
it's still stortage. But when do we get out of the chip shortage?
Right? What if we've known about the chip shortage for two years now,
why haven't we tried to fix it? We go that we don't produce
our chips, I got you, But what if I don't? If I
don't, we do, But chips are made in Taiwan and stuff it's used.
We use, it's ours, it's our skill, but they use the labor ship back, you know, and you know that you know, the economy is you know, on a worse income as well as well as you know, there's tendencies and there's you know, different trade. You know,
I got you out here. Everything we're saying different shortages. Wise, I'm
just explaining a camera like you know, you hear it, but it is a true thing. They're like, you know, it's hard to get stuff
into right, was the last time you opened up a bag of Laise?
It's all halfway full of air and there's just so many chips And what if I just keep on delivering them that well? I mean, that's a that's
I'm just saying, what if I just keep on delivering the bag that way?
You just keep on the way people are. I'm not saying it.
I'm not You're gonna keep on You're gonna keep on buying that bag of Lais chips, right because you just accepted that way you opened up. You're like,
I have the bags full of air. I guess that way. I
feel like we keep getting you understand what I'm saying, right stuff? All
right? So I mean something we shouldn't get used to, we're getting used
to it. That's my point. We are getting used to it because we
keep on accepting the wuldn't want to pay seven dollars for some lazed chips.
But you are, but you're not. But I don't know you're not.
You guys have those dots dot pretzels? Have you seen those? Do you
know how much they cost? They used to be like four No, they're
not dot pretzels. They're good. I ain't gonne. I meant you guys
got it down like. They're eleven dollars and ninety eight cents for a bag
of them. And I didn't know until I actually went to go buy them,
like I've had them places and I'm like, oh, these are really good. And then somebody said, hey, pick a bag of pretzels.
I'm gonna pick them up. They're eleven dollars and nine to eight cents for
a bag. I was like, holy cow, that's just crazy. I
mean with the stuff that we've and you're right, COVID just opened her eyes to so many things that people. Some people were trying to help, but
there were others that were just trying to take advantage. And they're still taking
avantage. It's not it is a great system. I'm telling you. I
did the research. I've gone back, I've taken a look at all this.
It is a great system. This is smart and no one's really paying
attention. I'm telling you, guys, this is a very very very smart
system. This is reinventing the complete wheel on everything how cars are bought.
And you're gonna have hold on and no one's paying attention and you're gonna have no control, and everybody's like, oh, this is great, this is a great idea. I really love this idea. You know, this is
perfect for me, and this is really, you know, just the perfect way. And Elon Musk really kind of opened the door for a little bit
of this, and trust me, you guys know, I like Tesla and stuff, but he did open the door for the way that this works.
But there's a butt if you think about it. I don't think that's what
he intended for. What's going to happen and what's gonna happen because we're gonna
take a commercial. I'm gonna take a commercial break, and you're gonna have
to hold on for the second part of this hen it, so hold on tight. Let me take a commercial break, and I'm gonna break it down
for you guys, because I just don't think anybody's seen it in this light.
Hold tight, we're gonna jump more into it. I'll be right back.
You're listening to Dave Collage on Let's Talk Cars Radio. Dave will be
right back. Okay, guys, it's time to change up Liberty's commercial.
Curtis couldn't make it, so Michelle Price is coming in and she said absolutely no messing around this time. Hey, Michelle, are you ready? Yep?
Okay, go for it. Hi, I'm Michelle Price from Liberty Transmission.
Now, I could sit here and tell you a bunch of stuff you really don't care to hear about transmissions, but I'm not. However, if
you want a great transmission at a fair price, and you want it from a family shop where a handshake still means everything, come see us at Liberty Transmission. My husband's name is on everyone. How is that? Well?
I think that pretty much says it all. But just one last thing.

Whitlow and Sons Incorporated. Welcome back to Let's Talk Cars Radio, your automotive
specialist. Now back to your host, Dave Palach. Hey, guys,
welcome back. All right, So we're not done with jumping into this.
There is craziness that goes along with us. So it just follow the trail
that I'm laying for you. Guys, you're good. Did you push something
wrong? Oh, you were just talking to a black screen. But I
was pushing. I pushed by them. He's like, you're talking to a
black screen. So it Uh, there is something that how this lays out
all right if you follow the way that they want this to work. And
I get it, but I just don't think it falls out fair for us in the end, because I think we're we've gotten so used to a lot of things. We continue to get used to things and then the hammer's going
to fall down on us? Is my worrying? So there's the new way
of thinking. And like I said, and Eon Musk, you know,
kind of opened the door for or for them. I guess it's car ordering,
Okay, so now it's go online. It ordered the car spect out
the way that you want it, right, Yeah, right, okay.
So if you go to ordering car spect out the way that you want it, that means you keep less inventory on your lot, right and only build the ones that are needed. That's it's kind of like right he did a
Tesla truck. You know, you know how many people wanted to Tesla truck
extra money to set aside for you know whatever? You right, absolutely,
so you understand, you understand the way this works. So you go online,
that means less cars are out on the lot. So if you Nathaniel,
or you Cameron or all your listeners, you decide that you want just spontaneously want to go out and buy a car. When you go to the
lot, there's only gonna be X y Z the available on the lot, and all of your options are available. So this is what they're doing now
because me and Nates ran into this where they'll have four cars there. Right,
Let's say the car comes in four different colors, four different fis each.
It's probably come in about twenty colors, but let's just say they have four primary colors. Absolutely, and they picked the four primary and they put
it's gonna be whoever was ordering men they like yep, and one car has this package and one car this package. They want you to go in all
four of those cars and go, well, I want this part from this package, and I want this part from this package. And well, here's
just like you don't even have to go in the dealership. Though you need
to understand you don't even have to go in the dealership. You can go
online and you can build your car like you could go to a dealership, look at the car and go, I kind of like that car. Then
you go home and you go build a car on line. You can order
it. They have financing available if you're gonna finance. However, you're gonna
do all that stuffs available online. My point with it is we're gonna dealerships
looking for cars. Now, I feel like shopping at dealerships is a waste
of time. Okay, don't have the car that you're looking for or don't
have, and you just don't have the car you're looking, Well, you're you're like me though, you're hard Like, okay, so you'll remember when I when I want to go buy the truck, but they very like I knew exactly what I wanted on my truck and I couldn't find it at the dealership. Like so I'm I'm I'll be first one to admit I'm a hard
person to shot. Like, if you're a car guy, you know exactly
kind of what you want to vehicle, so maybe or in the vehicle and is the option, but it's as far as I'm gonna certain it's dangerous.
Somebody's proved me wrong because we're gonna get used to doing that. And then
the price is controlled beyond your beyond your control. That is, that's what
the sleep, That's what I'm saying. There's no leeway, prices controlling before
you know it, they are one hundred percent controlling the price. What comes
with the car comes with the car. And so you can probably may see
warranty start to you know, lean a little bit between you because it's not really direct with the man. You know, my worry My worry is is
we're gonna get it. We're gonna back ourselves into a corner. And once
we back ourselves into that corner and we get so used to that, then that's it. Now the problem they're not already backed No, not yet,
we're not. But if you once we get it, then they slowed down,
then you have less in the inventory. And here's where this circles around
with doing all the dig it into it. The manufacturers are at actually on
the back end. When I talk about talking with people on the back end
and stuff like that, things that doesn't come to light for you guys as the buyers, but talking with people in the industry on the back end, and we have friends withinside that that area. How did we become so normal
with above ms? Is it called ms MSRP? How do you become because
it was because inventory was low? So here, hold on, I'm getting
that you're stealing my thunder. Hold on, I'm getting to that. Closing
plants down for periods of time to control inventory less inventory less vehicles available higher price above MSRP. Because it's not they're unavailable, you're making them less available.
So when you make them less available, there's less inventory. Supply and
demand goes hand in hand. Are you following where I'm at with this?
Okay? Now, what was a one of one car because the dealership made
it is now somebody can go online and just build but here right, So now there's a there's just a lot of steps to go to this. So
you're ordering cars now. I now I'm controlling the price on the ordering side,
because you guys gotten used to ordering your car. If you order,
this is just what the price is on the lot. I'm controlling how many
are out on the lot because now we're not rolling a bunch of the amount.
There's only so many on the lot. There's a third section of this
that you guys don't understand. Okay, you have a lot of used cars
right now. The prices inflated on a new car, and it goes up.
New cars become more expensive. People can't afford some people. Not everybody
has money like that. I know there's a lot of big ballers out there,
trust me. And there's people that are doing very well in life that
can just go out and buy new cars and you know you're gonna afford that twelve hundred, fifteen hundred dollars seems to be the average range. When I
start to talk to people, if you have a really nice car, you're paying fifteen hundred dollars a month on a new car payment, that's astounding to me. How you do it? And tell me how you do it,
But that seems to me, that just seems to be. It seems to
be the number. And everybody goes, oh, come on, Dave,
you're gonnafod a fifteen hundred dollar a month car payment. I could, but
I'm not going to. But that seems to be arranged. When I talk
guys work at and so I took a poll and I talk to people.
I am talking to people that are your guys's age, that take their paycheck and pay a fifteen hundred dollars car payment so they can roll around in a you know, a nice new Charger Challenger or something like that, and they're making that payment. I know, I hold on, hold on, I
know. I know what my kids get paid, and I know what it
would cost them to take the money they get paid and pay the car insurance on that, and they would be wiped out trying to live in an apartment and pay that car payment and pay that car insurance, right, I mean they would they would sit at home and do nothing. I mean they wouldn't
be able to do anything other than enjoy that car and stare at it and maybe put gas in it every once in a while. Always like when I
find funny, Like when you see someone roll in a new car and you realize like they've done like extra things. You're like, right, what if
I do put anything on credit card? Nope? All right? So I
told you the story. I had a kid that worked for me. Uh,
this is years ago. He gets a credit card. How he got
it, I don't know. He got a credit card with like a fifty
thousand dollars limits. I think I told the story once before he gets he's
twenty one, gets a card with a fifty thousand dollars limit on it.
I don't know how he got it, but he got it. No,
no, no, no, this was um I want to say it was ninety seven, ninety eight. He gets this credit card and he goes and
buys a BMW on it. They let him buy it. He goes a
BMW dealership and buys it in the reason on a credit card, And the reason why is because the credit card had like an introductory thing or something like that. There was like two percent and then and then uh at that time,
I think like the best deal you could get on a car was like eight percent. Was like, you know, because the interest rates are really
high at that time. Was really it made sense, like I couldn't fault
him. But at the same point in time, like, first of all,
who gave this kid this credit card? Well, how did they get
it? I think it was a really big mistake. And then number two,
it was like, so technically did he own the vehicles since he didn't?
No, yeah, he owned it, own it outright technically No, No, like he owned it on a credit card rather than I remember there was like and and and I can't remember all the details too. I remember
there was some issue with like the dealership trying to forgot if it was okay to let him purchase it with right. No, I don't think he did.
I don't remember. I don't remember. I remember. I just remember
there was I remember there was there was something like I remember, I remember there was some issue, but he got they got it done, and they had they put the credit card. No, no, no, no,
he was like, yeah, like I said, I remember, they got the deal done. They got the deal done with the credit card. It
was it was all legal, legit. He did it all and he got
it done. And I remember him showing up to work with the BAM.
I'm like, I mean he was a young kid and it was a brand new BMW and I'm just like, He's like, yeah, I bought on the credit card. He start telling me the whole deal how he did it,
and I was like, okay, well that's smart because the percentage she was gonna pay on it was like so different. And he's rolling. He
worked ballet for me, so he was working in the ballet department and uh.
I was just like okay, yeah he was so then. Uh but
then you know, they didn't had to make those tips and stuff to make you know, and make make make that pay. He was doing all riding.
But I was just like, I don't even have a credit card at that time. I was young, you know. I was like, man,
hush. I was just like looking at him, like, man,
I want to do that he's doing. I was driving a Cavalier. It
was it was percentage was right. He got a brand new car. But
here's the thing, guys, So rolling back into night, with friends, drinking dreams. I'm making fun. But here's the thing. So if new
cars price go up, right, then the used cars prices hold high because you can't afford the new car, You're gonna move into the used car.
And then they hold used car price up high too. So it's just a
whole it's just a whole scam as it goes all the way through. If
you're following how this paper trail works, and it's a it's a good and bad. It's a it's a balancing act, right, because you want your
old cars to have some value. Right, So I feel like, but
here's the thing. It works for the dealership though, Hold on it.
It works for the dealership because now the dealership doesn't have to worry about, you know, blowing those used cars that they bought out the door. They're
gonna get premium money for those cars. You, as a consumer, right
should understand the difference between what the value of it really is and what they want for it. Right, It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter what the
value is. Hold you, guys, hold that thought. I gotta take
another commercial break. There's so much there's so many layers of this. Let's
take a quick Commerci a break, and we'll try to finish this up in this last segment because there's just so many layers to it, it's hard to cover it all whole tight. We'll be right back. You're listening to Dave

Transmission. Welcome back to Let's Talk Cars Radio. You're automotive specialist. Now
back to your host, Dave Palach. Hey, guys, welcome back to
let's talk cars radio song. We're having like a heated debate even during commercial
break because a camera, because there's so many layers of this, guys, that's crazy. So Nathaniel and I we we're clashing so much on this.
We agree, but we disagree on some things. But it's really us agreeing,
really together, but just different ways of viewing it. So the problem
with it is is truly, truly, I think what the problem with it is is you can't stop people from buying. Okay, people are gonna have
to buy, but they are as I say it, I think as a buyer right this second, I think you're screwed. There's nothing that you can
do because if you're driving down the road today right this second, okay, and your car just blows up and you need a car, you are just stuck. You are stuck, stuck, stuck. There's nothing to do.
You're gonna make a decision of rather you need to buy something new, If you need to buy something used, however you need to buy it. You
are at the mercy of what's going on right this second. Use cars are
inflated like you wouldn't believe new cars they're putting above MSRP stickers on them and you're just stuck. And then Nathaniel's view, and I understand his view.
He's like, look, if we could just get people to stop surrendering to the fact that this is the price and you just go by, and you just go by. If we could get people to stop doing that, that
we could get to the point where we could control and get them to stop taking advantage of us. But and I get that. Trust me, I
totally get that, and I completely understand that one hundred percent. I get
it. I understand and you know, it's it's one of those things,
but it's it's one percent set up where if there's no way around that.
If you're in that situation where I'm in the car, I got two kids, they got to get a soccer practice, they gotta get a dance.
Whatever it is you're you're gonna get, You're gonna get raked over the coals because they're I mean, we're just talking about it. Like a two thousand
and two Honda Civic I saw the other day. They wanted seventy nine hundred
dollars for it with like a U and seventy nine thousand miles on it.
When what just two years ago that car was thirty five hundred dollars, But it's sitting on someone's lot right in the second they want I mean, and I just started laughing because that's just where we're at. You bet. I
feel like people would do that because they know there's someone out there that's gonna buy it. Well, they are going to buy it because because the value
them not just they just a lot of people don't know the market. Okay,
they don't know the market, but those that do just know they're willing.
Absolutely they don't. There's a lot of people who don't know it.
Uh so funny. We're talking the top of the show about old man Fred
and it looks like he is on the line. We haven't heard from him
in a while. Hold on, hen, get my headset on here.
You know, these headsets are the craziest things. Sometimes they spin around.
I can't get on my head. What's going on? Buddy? Hello?
Hey? How you bet? M on? Yes? Or you are?
You are on? All right? Dave? Hey? Look good show as
always. I heard the first part of it, and I'm gonna take up
on the invitation, like bring my son and my wife to it because they'd be my driving for me, okay, absolutely, and uh and I'll talk to you, you know later on okay anyhow and find out what days for me to be there, and you know, I'll be there at the thing, the credit card thing years ago, twenty five years ago, a little flashback. But then a twenty five years ago, I had this some mustang
converbile that I wanted and I still have it. It's okay, I need
ninety six model. I was two years old and I was negotiating on the
car, got it down from nineteen thousand, nine hundred to sixteen three fifty negotiating, okay, And then when I went to pay for the car, I said, well, I just go to the bank and get like a nine A deal loan or something like it, because I got a good credit with the bank. Long story short, went to the bank and me and
my wife. They wanted it in both names, and I figured it would
be nothing to it, you know, And they got into a long, long deal about you know, oh, okay, we gotta have this, We've gotta have that, We've gotta have this, and I got upset.
I got upset, and finally the woman that was you know, taking the fresh She started to ask my wife some credits, some some stuff, and I said, oh, can I see that contract there? She says,
yeah, I got the contract up real cool, looked at it, ripped it in half to put it that on top there, ripped it in half again, through it in the trash camp. You're looking at me, I
said, you know, you're talking to my wife like she's a criminal.
I can't believe be doing that. We've been doing this for he all the
twenty years. Well, well and do At that time, the manager walked
by. He said, what's the crouble here? I said, here,
there's trouble, I said, and I'll belle, I said, but I tell you what. We're going to take the account out of this bank and
I'm going to put it in a credit union. I did do that that
day. So then I go to my two credit cards at at the time,
and I called roll them up. I said, hey, I don't
this is I such. Yeah, look, I'm gonna put ten thousand dollars
on this card today. I just want you to know that it's okay.
Sure, have a good day. So I called us that the one off
and I'm more about so seven thousand are better on this card today, and again I want you to know me and is it okay? Sure? Sure,
have a good day, all right. So then I go back to
the dealership, told him what the deal was, paid him sixteen thousand, three hundred and fifty on two credit cards, grove out of there with a car, you like, a brand new and so as so I didn't do it, and my wife said, well, you have a way of doing things. I said, Yo, I just I think like what we're talking
to you. I just didn't like that, you know, I like go
with John does or somebody. But anyhow, so I just wanted to know
this as you brought up back the credit card, it was possible, and we did. In ninety days. I paid it off to save all of
the charges on that. You know what I'm saying. I had some money
coming in from a retirement fund and I took some of that and uh and brought the car with that and paid it off. You know what. You
know what they say, the quickest way to get your hurt and mess with you wife, messed with the kids, have your wife happy life. Yeah,
absolutely, absolutely that's a good one. But Dave, I'm looking forward,
looking forward to that that that show you invited me to and the first of the program. I'm looking forward to that. I'll get in touch with
you, okay, all right, buddy, sounds good. I'll talk to
y'all soon, okay, and y'all have a good rest of the show.
Him looking forward to, uh to to listen to the rest of the show.
And I'm looking forward to that little deal with with you and the people in the movie. Okay, sounds good to see you there, Fred,
Thank you for calling in. Okay there, Okay, and Cameron and and
Nathaniel, kudos to both y'all. Guys, you're great guys. Okay,
thank you, Fred, and hope you have a great day. Thank you
do the same. All right, I was wondering where Fred is. Hadn't
heard from Fred in a while, You guys don't know. Have you guys
been listening to this show for a long time. We have heard some great
stories from Fred over the years, so I always wonder why I haven't heard from a little while, if he's still out there kicking around. But uh,
yeah, he uh that's good to always hear from him. So,
like I said, guys, you know, here's the thing, do your own research. Take a look out there. I mean cars. Like I
said, when you get to the point where like an O two Civic seventy nine hundred dollars, I mean, you know, thanks for creation. And
I understand be able to go online and be able to you know, order your car the way that you want it, it's a great thing. My
fear is if we get used to going online ordering our cars, okay, and then inventory is low at the dealership because they're having us go and order own cars, They're gonna they're gonna keep very low inventory. Now you have
low inventory. So if you price ends up being dictated online for ordering your
car, prices dictated because inventory is low on the dealership. Now those prices
get to the point where they're more than you want to pay, and you roll into the second dairy market into mark my words that if these prices stay the same, a conversation about oh, electric vehicles wouldn't be this much.
We need to get electric vehicles into our town. That's going to be the
next conversation. Did you guys see I don't think so. I think I
think electric vehicles are still going to stay the same price for more for for a little while. Did you guys. See the Asian company that has them
right now, they're doing scooters. They say, the cars are coming.
The batteries pop out, right, So they have just as many Si elevens as we have here. Okay, but there you know electric yeah right,
I saw it. I saw it. I saw the whole thing. I
saw it out two batteries, plump it in. It's a charging station,
ye be. Now imagine being able to do that with some type of small
car set up. Well, they already kind of do with one of the
car. I'm just saying where they PLoP out the battery from underneath. But
that's too I mean, I'm just saying, imagine if you got because remember, batteries keep on getting smaller and smaller. Okay, just think about it.
We keep on getting energy smaller and smaller. Imagine if you just had
two of those that you click pool and they slide on the side on the car, one on each side, you click, click them in, and that just took you for the day, or took you for a day and a half or whatever. Just think about it, just hope, just I
feel like that's just a little extra you just need to prove in the battery you see that they're starting to make I'm just magnet batteries. Yeah, I
saw become a little popular, but we released a lot of information on me.
I know, the technology, guys, is changing so quickly. I'm
just I saw that. I started thinking about the possibilities as I was thinking
about it, and I was if you guys haven't seen this, there's a small scooter company that it's not even small and more it's getting larger's and over in the Asian companies, and they just click batteries out at like a seven to eleven. They just take a battery out, they click it in,
it goes into a charging they take one out of a charging thing. They
just zip their card through a little ATM screen, pop it in and they keep on going. And if you can convert that into like small last them
about a whole week. I'm just saying, if you could convert that into
a small car setup, you'd have something, especially in like small city areas.
I don't know, my mind starts flipping around. Like I said,
I get so much car informations and technology stuff send to us so much that it's just the possibilities are endless. On that note, guys, man,
I cannot believe we blew through this show so quick. I'm very humbled,
guys. You know, every single week it's just more people reach out and
tell us stories about stuff. When we get so many things, it is
always humbling to all of us here on the show. The show continues to
keep on growing. I mean, eight years, guys, it's nuts.
