Ken I'm fipo and let's just get into it

because there's a lot to talk about

starting with Jag yes so in our last

podcast we talked about the new Jaguar

that hadn't come out yet they've

revealed the concept and here it is the

type 0000 finished in Miami pink London

blue and they do a third version in

Parisian gold that blue the least

londony blue of everything I know also

yeah yeah London gray is the color that

comes to mind when I think of London but

you know what do we think what do we

think I kind of like it to be honest

with you I I don't hate it but I don't

love it and it's also a concept and it

won't look like this when it goes in

production so who cares this is

meaningless I think it's cool as hell

however the thing I've learned about

concept cars is when they debut they

look like that and when they go into

production they look like the Acura

TLX concept cards this feel less like a

concept card more like a design study

yeah and it looks cool if this came out

it would be so cool but these are 78

inch wheels they'll never see production

they're too big they automakers won't do

wheels on tires like that no mirrors no

mirrors I mean that I don't know about

be legal I don't see reflectors I I just

it would be cool as hell if they

actually had the gravitas to make this

car and they're going to make a version

of it and it's going to be so watered

down that we're not even going to

remember this concept it also what's

fascinating to me in Harry mcha did a

great video talking about this but like

it's an EV right so there's no engine up

here massive Hood well but but that's

what a a cool car looks like a big long

like those old V16 Cadillacs you know

are they going all EV was that announced

like for it was assumed but like is is

something they've said well I think they

said it but a lot of automakers have

walked that back so I don't know how

Jaguar is feeling about it right now

this would be cool the V8 yeah it would

V would be cool period they said copy

nothing wasn't that their big thing that

was all original it looks a little like

a Rolls rice R to me from that side

profile I'll take it but it's but it's

like a widebody wraith this is a cool

looking car if this came out and existed

it would be cool it will not come out

and exist when it comes out it's going

to have 14inch wheels hubcaps and you

know can't it'll have some sort of

British Market tax credit stuff on it I

if these kind of like RS6 ofon I mean

the things that are interesting to me

like I really wish they made more use of

the cat I the cat is one of the panel

open in other I've seen other photos of

that panel open I think so not not

totally sure the point is it does none

of it matters it's a concept car and

it's never going to see the light of day

however it is cool Jag is back now I

want to say one other thing about Jack I

had that take about the Jag ad and I was

surprised even Instagram commenters kind

of the lowest level of commenter even

they agreed with me most ofly they were

like you know what he's right like they

haven't done anything in years so let's

here let's this is something but a lot

of them were still like when you go woke

you go broke my rebuttal to that is they

broke they were already

broke you know that was the thing it

came from that Bud Light thing where

they did the transgender ad and then Bud

Light lost all that money and they they

went w and they went broke

Jaguar is as broke as it gets like

there's people were like Jaguar's going

to learn when you go woke you go broke

like they already learn they're broke

already this is it this is just a a weak

attempt to do something completely

different I think just the question

becomes like when you're hard pivoting a

brand this hard pivot which is there's

nothing that says Jaguar yeah there at

all I do see four rings in the grill

that seem audias to me for some reason

well the huge Grill also yeah but

I you're not actually re like you're

launching a new brand fundamentally

yeah why because the old they had to do

the old one was tired

we're that's the thing about Jag they

don't give up they don't anymore it's

just it's that's not the British way

we'll fight them on the

beach okay

they don't give up the point is uh I

think we all agree it's a cool car it's

never going to see production I'm more

interested in what they actually are

able to do not what they say so far

we've been getting a lot of talk from

jaguar and I respect Harry greatly but

let's get some reality let find out what

the T group will accomplish remember the

Ford gt90 remember the Cadillac CN our

favorite topic on this podcast love the

CN meanwhile they came out with the with

the

ca true but if this is the direction

they go styling wise I would be happy

with it I would love it if they would do

something racing with it would be very

cool imagine that as a race car a big

wig on that would be too connected to

their Heritage yeah right but maybe they

but racing is always cool so I but I

don't know it but nonetheless it's here

that's what it looks like those are the

colors speaking of cars that are not

doing well our next news actually the

whole News segment the whole car Nissan

this is a great image of Nissan's lineup

in some Market the leaf the J the kashai

the Arya and the town star which I never

heard do we think this is I don't know

but the picture looks like it was taken

here sou California uh Nissan announced

actually Nissan didn't announce but some

Nissan executive in Japan announced that

they're a year away from running out of

money I'm astonished it's a year 12 to

14 months they've been losing money my

but they sell cars like it's it's hard

to fully run out of money you can't it

doesn't count selling cars profitless to

rental car fleets does not count it

doesn't those those are sales to keep

the factories going they haven't

developed a new the ARA came out a

couple years ago and there's a new uh

Morano coming out and a new Armada

great they haven't like investing that

much money how can they be losing that I

am surpris that's a good point I am

surprised by that the investment has

been minimal the cars are not good in

having been for years the new Pathfinder

is fine the problem is they the new QX80

Infinity thing and Armada fine they have

just soled their reputation so greatly

for so many years building so much trash

cars going after the lowest common

denominator of buyer and Kell supr to

quote kenon that's not a strategy that

works the thing is like it's it's really

easy to see how Jack

runs out of money you don't see a drag

around you see Nissan everywhere you see

a rogue every 3 minutes but it's all low

and and the casy is very popular in

Europe as is the Juke which doesn't

exist here anymore like they do well so

it's really a testament to their

mismanagement that they're running out

of money because they sell cars they

have these giant stakes and other the

Mitsubishi they but to be honest though

and they're they're heavily dependent on

the US market and and the Japanese

Market to like bring them y but um

Toyota Honda AR in this position they

went after Quality Nissan went after

like short-term sales numbers and gains

and I just find Nissan every time I

think about Nissan I find it to be such

like a such a depressing did everything

go downhill when their CEO um left the

country in the trumbone case no I think

but I think things started to go

downhill when they arrested him was

wasn't a good moment for the which may

or may not have been politically

motivated he asserts that it was

regardless it was a company in turmoil

yeah there's no question and when I was

a kid Nissan was such an innovator I

remember in 03 Nissan was on top of

their game the The Infinity lineup was

in fantastic shape they had just come

out with that Ultima that the company

that Maxima and the quest was weird but

it was like Nissan was the talk of

everybody at the time and the Titan was

just coming out which had all this

promise it has been canceled I assume

along with the big van um the nv200 no

the NV 2500 and 3500 right it's just

it's just a company that has just never

it hasn't innovated in years the cars

are not particularly exciting or or they

they sell only to people who don't have

the credit or the ability to afford

better cars

yeah flid of car companies hard the the

the the I will say this was all very

rumor driven but like it felt like

pretty strategic leaks there were like

two leaks it's but it felt kind of Del

it wasn't a leak the guy openly said

we're we're running out of cash this is

in a press conference in Asia talking

about Factory lines and that they have

too many of them which is probably true

I I don't know I just it it's it isn't

all that surprising to me you wonder if

the Auto industry starts to pair down

some of the some of the Dinosaurs and

starts to add some like xiaomi starts to

add some of newbies who are like ready

to do the Innovative thing Tesla shows

up they kill it because they have this

Innovative product and the old guys who

are not cool were starting to see some

decline it also hasn't impacted the us

as much but there's been a lot of

consolidation PSA group so P Citroen and

some DS I don't know whatever the other

are all part now of FCA yep or santis

rather uh obviously there's no more

Dodge really except for the charger

there really no chryler products like

opal is part of santis as well but not

Vox Hall there was some weird split that

happened regardless like there's been a

lot of consolidation it would not be a

huge surprise if Nissan takes investment

from another OEM which was a talk that

talk was that they were trying to get

Honda to invest uh and there's some

further consolidation it's kind of

inevitable yeah comp it's an interesting

thing that's kind of happened and I I do

find it I will say I do find it a little

bit disheartening that that Nissan kind

of comes out is like we can't believe

we're in this position and I'm sitting

here like I can believe it I had ideas

for you 15 years ago I Can Believe It's

Not Butter I mean they went hard on

sedans when no one was doing sedans they

went hard on cheap cars that low quality

um they really did not build out a good

SUV product in the states you're right

the Rogue sells but at a low price point

Pathfinders don't sell that that name

was Sully and that's the hottest Market

that's the hottest Market it's their

only entring into that market whereas

Toyota has 37 right um it's just it's

it's a disappointing situation it's a

disappointing brand I'm not surprised to

see them in this situation no uh and I

can't believe they're still trying to

make it inity know how why invest money

in that just just be done call it a day

go back to do what Mazda does which is

had great profits because the only

inventory they had in the US was high

priced high margin trucks SUVs wanted

especially then yeah cuz they've been in

production for 20 20 years and then only

the nice ones were selling so so profits

were great and now then it turns out

wait actually now that other manufa can

build Vehicles nobody wants hug bubble

they did and it ain't looking pretty now

no so I was think and dealers are pissed

have been pissed I was thinking about

this yesterday because I went to a

Chrysler product launch a stellantis

product launch stellantis vehicles are

piled up at dealers and their quality is

poor Ford just has the poor

quality we're really making sure that

every OEM loves us on this podcast no I

mean listen the truth of the matter is

stellantis since I was a kid Chrysler

has Stak their entire existence on the

success of like one or two vehicles in

their product portfolio they've never

had the Deep bench that the Toyotas and

the Fords and The Hondas have had and

this this most recent time was charger

Challenger yep and Jeep and Jeep the the

Cryer 300 came out in 08 well right but

the charger Challenger in the period

you're talking about the co period was

the big hit that was the car that

selling in and honestly every Jeep well

Jeep both all of that has completely

changed charger Challenger they gave up

on which I still think was kind of a

mistake they wanted they took this

electric strategy which obviously is not

going to pan out they're walking that

back jeep has become a bit of a problem

and they have this big reputational

issue where No One Believes the cars

will run I when I bought my seoa

remember I like really wanted a Grand

Cherokee and in the end was like I just

can't take the risk and I think a lot of

people feel that way do you know how

cheap Wrangler 4 by Lisas are how cheap

low 300s for wellspect Willis Edition

which I think is like that still seems

high I it's it's a $60,000 truck wow

what's the down

zero I from what I've seen online people

have have gotone deals in that range wow

and if you go to any Jeep website their

adverti dealer website they're

advertising some I will say one of the

things that I have noticed with a lot of

these automakers Nissan included is that

there was a pivot to Electric that a lot

of money went to and that the automakers

are now anxious will happen we got Trump

as president now electric incentives are

going to change the demand for EVS has

not been as strong as the Auto industry

thought that it would be even with even

without the incentives let alone with if

the incentives go away that's going to

change everything especially in the US

um these automakers are all kind of

Toyota's in a good place they never they

never put any money into EVS in the

first place yeah fair and also like San

obviously has a huge European presence

all their most of their brands but a lot

of EV wasn't isn't DS is not an electric

only brand but a lot of the cars are

there's a lot of electric which do sell

but volume is just not the same Europe

as a continent of countries has way less

volume than is in China which has its

own burgeoning IND there is no real

these traditional manufacturers still

the Chinese government has really been

protectionist about making sure that

Chinese automakers take the take the

front runner role in China and it's

worked and those cars are not only ahead

of American and and general Legacy

brands in terms of Technology but

they're way ahead in sales in what is

going to quickly become if not as

already the most important car market in

the world now I will say I was at a

Mercedes-Benz dealership last week cars

piled up there inventory I was at a

Porsche dealership for my care GT recall

I was asking about sales they said MC

V's coming in are not sold inbound mccan

vs this car I've only seen two on the

road this is a brand new car not sold

brand new Porsche no the brand new

Porsche the EV demand is simply not

there a lot of these mercedes-benzes

that are piling up sitting around eqb is

just sitting free these cars are free I

mean look I know but it's QB I

know I agree with you but my point is

they invested money in the electric

pivot it is not working and there's

going to be a come to Jesus situation in

the automotive industry there already is

for a lot of these Brands not Toyota

again the Toyota dealers still have low

days Supply and their moving stuff I

will say the other component here and

then we can move on to a topic Ken cares

about uh a lot of these manufacturers

and salant is especially guilty of this

bet pretty big on developing markets

South and Central America parts of

Africa that have not had demand

Skyrocket to the extent that I think

they thought did it 10 years ago when

they interesting rolled out this product

like fiat's only new products are in

South and Central American markets and

they're not doing great there either

yeah that brand only really exists in

like Latin America and we see them from

Mexico it's even jeep jeep has all these

products that are not available in the

US which is so surprising because it's

they have one the Avenger no they have

several you go to Europe there's there's

everywhere there's all

renade electric renade hybrid I want a

renegade hybrid they offer me one last

time I R A Car in Italy I would pay the

what I would believe would be the

competitive lease price on that tour

which is $19.99 you would pay more than

savaris left to seeo there was some

rumor by the way that he had a $100

million severance package damn santis

seems like a good outcome for him uh

don't know man which they claim will

stantis is funny they got good products

but it is going to be a tough road ESP

all the the Grand Cherokee is a great

product the ram is great prodct the

Wrangler is a good product all these

cars good product implies that it's a

car that will also be Dependable they

are over produced they have a poor

reputation for quality and they went too

hard on electric and so this is the

situation would love to have a Wrangler

or gr Cherokee 4 by by the way I've

thought about how I make it work so get

one they're cheap they're not cheap

enough yet the second never cheap enough

for Philly okay let's talk about the

most important news story brunai folks I

want to talk about brunai and I want to

just really get into brunai and I think

we should really let well sadly it's

hard to get into brunai I know well you

can go there you you can go there it's

quite a tourist destination you can't

see the collection uh I can't I can't

tell you people how much time I spent on

this I'm going to tell you the basic

story and then Ken's going to take it

the brunai the salt NE brunai actually

his brother Prince Jeffrey he spent

reportedly in according to court

documents filed years ago about various

things he spent reportedly 14

billion misspent 14 billion do over a

period of a decade or so in the 90s and

I read an Atlantic article about Prince

Jeffrey and it referred to him as the

individual the living individual who has

spent the most money of any person in

existence we calculated he bought 7,000

cars for the

and we that during the period where he

Wasing money he was buying three cars on

average every single day people like I

can't believe he never drove them of

course he never drove them how how do

you buy that many car time the whole the

whole nation wouldn't have any time to

drive those car he didn't go to a dealer

and bought them these were all mostly

quite special he went to the the 7,000 I

would say 6 6600 of the 7,000 6,500 are

not special cars that were primarily

Mercedes and Rolls-Royce and Bentley

that were purchased directly but not

through a dealer but like directly and

they were just cars they were making you

know there was a rumor that in 9697 and

98 he bought a third of all new rolls

and Bentley's and single-handedly

propped up Rolls-Royce and Bentley as a

company until he stopped buying cars

they found out the $14 billion

embezzlement he stopped buying cars and

immediately after that Rolls-Royce and

Bentley

fail and had to be bought by other

companies but anyway so what happened

this week was last week there was a leak

of brunai pictures uh from Taken back in

2001 purportedly by either Michael shean

or someone like that and there's like

this upro these are stolen photos I

can't believe these got out oh I can't

believe that like all these brunai

Instagram accounts are like are like so

Pearl clutchy that's hilarious but

they're out the pictures are there those

of us who want to see the pictures love

it and the cool thing is brunai had had

what they really did and what was the

really special thing the 500 really

special cars was they commissioned yeah

Bentley Rolls-Royce Aston Martin for

ferari Bugatti Jaguar to build oneoff

individual cars just for themselves that

were not sold or available to anybody

else and it's an unbelievable thing and

we see these pictures now of these cars

and I will say a lot of the cars

pictured had been there are other photos

of them around right some pictures did

get out but I mean it was so few and we

all knew what they were I don't think

there's a single car that was

photographed in here that I didn't know

about but it's amazing to see them all

the the multic Cutler EB 110 was a

surprise yes yes that was and also you

know what else is a surprise we didn't

talk about there is a 456 in a 550 that

were made uh with night vision did you

see this they have an enormous amount of

night vision stuff in the trunk and

there are cameras in the interior and

they were meant to drive like 200 mil

hour in the middle of the night remember

night vision crazy so anyway this is a

Bentley Buccaneer or something like that

there's all these cars that never

existed they Aston Martins that Aston

over there I thinks really cool um and

it's amazing to see these pictures right

there's a great Instagram account I

think it's called yes but the one that

like pushed them all was two like brunai

probably 2001 something like that it is

it like it is hours of scrolling through

and being like wow I've never I never

would have thought it the the brunai

government reportedly so there's some

interesting things about this these

pictures are all taken in 2001 a lot of

the cars are moldy a lot of the cars are

in rough shape right 23 years ago they

were in rough shape so a couple of the

brunai Instagram accounts have been

saying the cars are being maintained

well now you you're talking about which

is interesting um some of them have

gotten very angry like people are saying

the cars aren't being maintained well

you don't know anything and it's like

well then tell us I don't know of course

we're saying that 20 years ago they look

like they weren't being maintained and

we haven't heard anything since you've

been to brune apparently some of those

guys have some access to some people but

we know the McLarens have gone back

we've seen pictures at airports of the

McLaren f1s that have gone back to the

UK for refurbishment and then come back

to Bruno so the owners and their

families are still maintaining this

Fleet in some way the the big thing that

I think every car Enthusiast on the

planet wishes they would do is open up a

museum and let people get access and see

these cars however the ruling royal

family of brunai currently uh is still

the same family who bought the cars and

I think that they are embarrassed I

think that they're embarrassed by this

massive display of wealth this

ridiculous spend and they don't want it

to get out to their to their population

local population brunai there just like

open windows I kind of Imagine people

walk down the street and see the so you

should see where they are I got deep

into this I know exactly where they are

on satellite you can't get to them it's

it's in a presidential separate reserved

area that like normal people can't

access um I have it on Authority that

the family just doesn't know what to do

they don't know if to do it as like to

display them as a museum they don't know

if they should sell them they don't I

will tell you this brunai which is an

oil Rich Nation uh and that's how they

got all this money in the first place

they have been really trying to push

tourism lately drawback of tourism in

brunai is it's also a heavily Muslim

country there's no nightlife there's no

alcohol

Etc if they open up these to to a museum

we'd have PL I'd be there in two seconds

I would tour brunai I'll dump the money

into their economy I'm happy I think it

would be five days of just going there

to see the cars there's I also

researched brunai pretty extensively

there's

like the car ownership is like the

second highest of any nation in the

world there it's not a very large Nation

no it's very there are roads that are

good roads but like there's like a

highway and when the highway opened in

2002 it was news it's a very very very

very very small country and um but

they've got all this money and I I just

would give I just would give anything to

jump in there and see the damn cars you

know they got six McLaren f1s I know

they and they three of the five LMS

including the one that's not orange they

got a longtail they got an orange one

they got a non- orange one GT yeah I

mean they have yeah they have well they

have

those cars in them in and of themselves

that's $150 million in cars right there

and I be honest the oneoff Ferraris I

think those are five plus million cars I

think of Ferrari Venice sells for 5

million to 7 million it's a oneoff right

I think a 456 sedan sells for that I

think a Bentley Buccaneer doesn't sell

for that but gets probably 600 700 Grand

the drawback of the cars is they're all

right-hand Drive yeah what do you think

the right hand4 with the leather

interior goes for that's thing they got

f40s 28 GT 28 evos I it it's got to be

even today it's got to be a billion

dollars in cars I'm not I'm not

exaggerated incredibly moldy who knows

if you are part of the Sultan's family

and you want to have Doug come visit you

I he would murder Kennan to do so I

would give anything I would say that the

one thing if I could do anything in the

world to do would be to go to berai and

see the cars I agree especially because

this this hits for me this was my ERA

this the era exactly I totally agree

late '90s weird stuff it would have been

amazing if they had had money in the mid

2000s that would have been really cool

but I'll take Bentley Buccaneers Bentley

dominators Bentley Javas yep Ferrari

like a modern really cool looking car in

my opinion they they it had a trans an

auto like sequential manual automatic

that was developed by Cosworth and never

finished and it just doesn't work and

the Marone museum has one of them too

which is like in Orange County and they

were they told me I could come review it

but the car doesn't drive and I never

has driven like the car just it doesn't

how Italian is that they they ship to

brunai before they had finished working

on it he's done he's perfect don't drive

just just let it sit there which to be

fair the perfect place cuz none of these

cars have been driven so like you see

the f90 go look up take a pull up a

picture of the F9 then we'll move on for

brunai can f doesn't care about brunai I

think about brunai every single day just

I fully believe that that's true you

don't need to Salt in the brunai out

there thought that would be helpful yeah

click on this one is this the ugliest

the garages is this the ugliest car

tester Roa Wheels really sent I'm

realize that each of these cars was

named by their manufacturer yeah now pin

and finina did a lot of them to be clear

contacted pin and Farina through the

Ferrari dealer in U apparently in

Singapore and pin and Farina was really

responsible for doing a lot of this

stuff but it happened with Ferrari's

blessing the cars are badged as Ferraris

generally um and yes they're all named

even cars that never existed ferari was

struggling as a company at that point no

wonder they blessed us they just needed

the money too and finina everybody

needed money I mean this was a big deal

this was a really really big deal they

these companies were totally willing now

it's worth pointing out that the sultan

and the and the family there still gets

crazy cars they still are buying hyper

cars they they are um supposedly they

they still they bought a uh LaFerrari

Etc but not at the level obvious

not like this you know the thing I think

that's so interesting about this story

is like if if you or I were rich and I

mean like Rich really rich like could

embezzle 14 billion doll before the

country found out about it rich we would

commission automakers to build Us cars

yeah and they did yes but for me that'd

be so much more simple 812 with a

six-speed manual like there would be it

would be stuff you you say that but if

you were buying three cars a day I think

day 28 you'd buy that day 478 you'd be

like but can you make it

do you he like I think that's what

happened here I think they did try to do

the stuff you were talking about like to

give us night vision cuz we like to

drive fast at night and then that turned

into can you make one with a swept back

but like where were they driving the

country is 20 mil wide yeah but there

were a couple of posts on the on the

brunai Instagram and there are a couple

photog like you you pulled up the f90

there were pictures that's true of

almost all these but it was interesting

to see the state the state they were in

and it was to see just them all and even

more it was a picture of a car it was

the cars around it that you're like oh

my God you see a picture of a car and

then next to it's an F50 and then

another F50 and then multicolor e-10 yep

and then and then a Venice and yeah all

that stuff pull up the multicolor eb10

then we'll move on yeah the E that is

one type eb10 brunai I bet it'll be the

one that comes up although they had

several and by the way brunai convinced

it there it is there's the multicolor

eb10 look at that interior look at the

wheels oh it's just like one of the one

of my favorite things about the E10 in

general brunai convinced all these

companies to build them right-hand Drive

versions of all these cars except

Bugatti they're all all the E1 are left

we happen to have cars that we went and

viwed in the desert and they have be

sitting here at the office and so and I

have drove the M5 a lot yep I drove

time to drive the cayenne and so I went

and drove around the Cayenne a little

bit and I love it I absolutely have you

heard this take he fell in love with the

kayen I've been telling him since he got

to San Diego you need a cayen turbo 12 I

tell it to everybody but I've especially

been telling it to Kenan but well yeah

but you know I'm an older man now he

said to me yesterday Kenan is big thing

kenon is like I've only ever owned

manuals you said to me yesterday it's

getting kind of tiring to drive a manual

every

some some sometimes um sometimes it does

but it was just nice more than that

though it was nice to have a car that I

really just didn't have to worry about I

could go through every dip and it was

fast and it was comfortable and it was

the full leather was so nice and the

sound system was great and it's like

understand why people have daily driver

cars now yeah and I I but then I got me

thinking do I just like the idea of an

SUV or a car I don't have to care about

do I really like this car the answer is

I really like that car because it

combines the that everybody likes about

an SUV you sit up high you don't have to

worry about po bumps potholes with it's

actually good to drive yes exactly and

they're incredibly affordable like they

are just around and reliable so you

agree that it was the right choice for

our well no I still chose the right car

but it was it was it's a good choice

generally to have both is the correct

decision and that's more of what I'm

think I don't disagree with that I don't

disagree with that and so it's got me

thinking plus the M5 is so I love the M5

but I really am getting I I'm very

careful how I like like when people are

around like for whatever reason people

see that car on the highway and it gets

more attention these days than it used

to I guess you just don't see nice ones

anymore and so it like people come up

and like take pictures or like want to

race which I do not condone and don't do

but like it it makes me a little ner

like kind of nervous and I know it's

like a 240,000 mile car and I should be

driving it it's just an E39 M5 for most

people it's just just used car but like

it's so special to me it's like it would

be kind of nice to have a daily that I

truly just don't have to care about yeah

and don't have to be as like that I can

actually open the Altoids case in I

really care also like they're not that

expensive to own or maintain well that's

the thing I'm most can't appreciate that

much like a first gen kind turbo is a 12

$113,000 car right so this is A7 $20,000

car like you're totally floor I I agree

I am still concerned about like the

consumables and like I started looking

into issues that some of those cars have

the earlier ones had engine detonation

problems where like engine would explode

that's that's an issue they did someone

did have transfer case problems but I

think that like if you 14 only ever

heard that those cars are reliable and

honestly I and I'm not saying that

you're wrong I'm just saying like they

get submitted to us all the time with

crazy crazy miles exactly and I think

that's kind of the proof in the pudding

that they they can be reliable of course

like consumables are expensive the tires

are Gigantic on that car the break what

You' really want is and maybe you

wouldn't want this but I think what a

one a person would want the cayen turbo

people don't know this but the cayen

turbo when it came out for 11 the

standard wheel was actually a 19 almost

nobody got it but the standard wheel the

19 they called them the Cayenne Turbo

wheel um but almost everybody upgraded

to either the 20-in RS spider wheel or

there was that 21-in Sport Design

craziness this one has the turbo twos I

think right yes I think that's right um

but those were all bigger but there is a

smaller wheel that's more comfortable

too and presumably be cheaper and the

trick also would be to find a 75,000

mile car that's been well well

documented I was thinking like 60 to

70,000 mile car and probably yeah

probably spend 35 oh you don't what are

you buy 2019 no you would you would want

to get but I think you would want the

goal of the car though is something you

don't have to worry about you you want

to get a 15 to $20,000 car you also know

that a 2021 will depreciate the 20 grand

in a couple years I'm worried about I'm

more worried about maintenance I want to

do Grand probably buys you we've never

done anything to that one it doesn't

things since you said in the video well

there's a few I mean still the the

doesn't work in the window Swit like a

30 second fix by the way I went to

started it it had like 14 miles of range

on it so I went gas and then when you

filled it up it still said it at 14

miles of range kind of the needle was

said it had a quarter tank so I agree

with you about cayenne you should get a

Cayenne you should get a cayen I didn't

enjoy the Cayenne very everybody should

get a Cayenne I enjo the Cayenne around

before we filmed has a I just I I didn't

enjoy it yeah I did kind of Wonder it's

like do I really need another thirsty

gas guzzling like s hybrid in 11 they

came out s hybrid had the same

supercharged V6 as the Audi S4 and it's

actually pretty cool it's a reliable

engine I haven't heard that many

problems carbon issues because of the

direct rection but fine you can buy you

can buy even the next hybrid which had a

different engine you want you want the

Audi S4 motor then you can slap the hood

and be like there's an Audi S4 motor in

this baby um speaking of the challenges

and the the thing can we talk about the

thing okay I I I need more than that we

posted the last video where we did the

cars in the desert every single response

wastu Doug knew about the challenges

beforehand because he created the

challenges and so he screwed everybody

folks folks

this is not the way this work sorry can

I can I give context we meaning Ken and

Doug and I and Nick went out to the

brought four cars for under the the

cheapest car America went out to the

desert we we did four Enthusiast cars

against the cheapest car in America it

was going to be lovely the Cayenne won

every single challenge that is factually

inacurate because it is better factually

inaccurate okay you won the fuel economy

Challenge and I think that was it

nope pretty sure that was it no I won

because you you cheated driving the

racetrack

pause so point being everybody was

freaking out Doug knew the challenges

beforehand and so of course he won he

picked the car okay let me tell you how

this works this I think that the

audience actually thinks that we were

like hey let's go to the desert hey guys

you want to go to the desert right now

and just go d That's this was play this

is true of Top Gear too Sean told me

that Top Gear won an award for best

unscripted show the concept is laughable

it's true everything about it is is

scripted and that's true in this case as

well there's no the movie Magic is that

you think it isn't scripted okay but we

all cutting that down for everybody we

all bought the cars we all knew what

we're going to do there's 20 people on

this shoot okay like there's no like

spur of the- moment oh we're going to

try this I I will say before we decided

on any of the challenges you said the

only way I'm doing this is if you buy a

I was pitched the idea I by the way I

didn't even come with the idea our

producer came with the idea and when he

pitched the idea I did not want to drive

four hours to the desert and to do these

things and so I was like I'll only do

this if I could be in a comfortable car

I want to do a cayen turbo I decided on

the car before we even decide on the

challenges now to be fair to the

audience the reason they think this is

because I like did read the challenges

or something in the in the video but we

only did that because the Top Gear way

of doing it was like a off camera

producer hands them the challenges and

that's the right way to do it but if you

do it that way it looks like you're

copying Top Gear yeah so if we had done

it that way people be like you're just

trying to copy Top Gear those would be

the get

right right which anybody gets together

to do anything with

car and the the challenges are kind of a

like that they a way to move the story

along but they're not the point and also

the other funny thing was the challenges

were so obvious it wasn't like of course

we were going to a drag race a r like

what the hell else were we going to do

in the desert like look at the cars we

were going to do that the M51 it just

annoyed me so much and I was so

disappointed every dou cheated Doug

cheated Doug hates to lose folks I'll be

honest with you my primary goal being

there was to finish shooting as quickly

as possible like there was no attempt to

like you know try to game the system so

I won and I think all of us picked our

cars before we decide the challenges

isn't that right yeah and like we we

then built the challenges around what do

we think would be fun with these cars we

did to an extent but this was a

collaborative thing that we all decided

on we just the mistake we made and we

learn every time and I've never done you

know I've learned with my videos how not

to piss people off I'll never forget the

time I was thinking about this yesterday

that I filmed a Ferrari Ro

and I parked it on a handic parking spot

okay now the parking spot was the owner

of the Roma it was his business and it

was closed so he owned the parking lot

and it wasn't open for other people and

he owned the and I still you still and

I've learned over time though what

people get triggered by and so I don't

really get a lot of that anymore in my

videos because but now we're doing a new

format and it's like oh people hate this

this and this so we got to change that

for next time and so that was an

interesting thing we learned well I

certainly hope there will be a next time

was fun to make I was tired at the end

I'll do it next time only if I can drive

a cayen

turbo no it was a great challenge if the

challenge is sports correlated then

just yeah dude 37 we're a year or two

away from this being a 29 car which like

makes sense but it's it is still a

sports car it's not a good sports car

but it is a sport car why is it not a

good sports car at 37 it starts to

become a pretty interesting proposition

three cylinder 2cylinder nobody knows

if you bought that for 37 put that on

Targo yep and uh a few months ago we

also sold a 997 Target the Doug reviewed

also R and it just it's so notable how

much of a premium they come in that 997

Target pull up that 997 80 grand that 9

and7 Taro rang the bell it went for

Turbo R the Bell agreed like and that's

a one and by the way having spent a budg

of time looking at one and2 values a cab

with that Miles and a stick an 07 cab is

a 30 3 35 maybe right like that's a more

than 2x premium and on 996 it was true

too right like cab with that miles is

interestingly not true on 93s you know

what's funny is that um when I worked at

Porsche I was there in 97.2 taret was

one of our cars we couldn't find anybody

to take him the it was not cool enough

it was just it was a hatchback people

were like there's no point in hang

hatchback which is weird we didn't know

yeah well I

knew but it was a hatchback and it it

didn't look special the only way you

could teleport a 997 Target from a coupe

was the roof I don't know on the on the

side you don't know kenon do you know on

the side uh I mean the roof the window

situation here the roof yeah it doesn't

have the like curve right the silver the

silver yeah the taras had the

strip was a sunroof available on the

cops that looked similar to the not 997

991 ended up getting like a full full

car sunroof but then for 991 they

changed the target it be cool it is

interesting though I don't think this is

uncool I should say that I don't think

this uncool I think it's actually really

cool but I am surprised to see people

paying enough for yeah and 996 targets

are also not any more different than

scbs but nonetheless people pay people

pay you know anything special in the

Porsche world at the end of the day a

911 is not a special car like truthfully

you see a bunch of them it's not a so

what special about it is if you can get

a weird color or a weird option or a

weird body style like this suddenly you

have something cool and so there you go

997 Target I loved it Ken have you

considered commissioning a convertible

cayen turbo maybe pora did the one porsa

did the one porsa did one there was a

concept Newport whatever did sever they

did that heinous one but Porsche did

their own you ever seen this no Porsche

Cayenne Turbo convertible turbo no no

just type in images you'll you it'll

come up this is porous wow purportedly

it's in the museum I've never seen it

I've been to the museum a couple times

but they maybe have it in there they

probably don't keep this uh in their

top this probably isn't next to the

all-time great no but hey they went with

the Miami pink and the London blue

lighting for

this this needless to say not a

particularly attractive automobile in

fact quite ugly quite but this was poor

didn't they do the rear wasn't there two

rears I thought this was like a concept

anyway

this was a real thing real thing that

they were thinking about and needless to

say oh yeah there are two oh that's some

other car I don't know yeah it's a

comparison although that's from portion

us room so who knows I thought there

were two anyway the point is that's real

and uh weird even if they're not that

different 911s do well that would sell

for real money oh it would indeed uh

okay Kenan give us the or S-Class take

which is fantastic such a good take so I

we have often talked about cars that are

you you look you drive around in it you

look Rich right but they don't cost a

lot think that there is a new a a new

Challenger to that one that we sold

recently we sold this 2015 S550 how much

oh my God

,450 now it had miles 92,000 miles but

no accidents I remember one it was a new

car I did a video review of this car

they are and there is nothing about that

that looks inexpensive that is that is a

rich person's car I mean fake badge on

the side fake Badge go back go back is

this common is this what they're going

for because we I was going to say the

same thing about 750 I 24 yeah the C is

at 37 that's where these are they are

coming down the one that we just so is

low but for the miles w22

165 you can just type in w22 okay 165

225 oh my God I was not aware that these

were this cheap the thing that makes

this especially proves your point is

that these still look like the new

S-Class cuz the new S-Class that just

came out they kind of went for the small

Evolution instead of a new totally and

so like if I pulled up in this a lot of

people think I have a brand new car

right and now thinking cuz I honestly

didn't realize they were this

inexpensive uh I may have picked one for

the challenge this would have been a

good car click on this one what why did

this one go so cheap 6 how many miles

does have 142,000 mil go to the interior

go to the interior I just want to see

the clown smile you remember the clown

smile I do go go look at this this is

held up beautifully it's white it has

pillows it has that pillow it still look

fluffy how do I not have one of these

just as let screw round car for 14,000

us it's quite a bargain me quite a

bargain I already have a heavily

appreciate a Mercedes product I don't

need the second one I me look at that

that is a rich looking interior that

quilting on I mean it's also held up so

well how man Mercedes quality has gotten

so much better than it was in the fipo

era look even even the smell thing is

full and the what what's that called

scent the like interior scent as a

matter of fact on the bookshelf behind

us I have all of the SC all four of them

you could buy it and then use them dude

this I cannot obviously every S-Class

appreciates but the problem is that

usually by the time the S-Class is

depreciated to this level it looks like

a cheap used car like the previous gen

which by the way I love how they look

the one that was sold from 07 to to 14

looks I love I would love an S600 of

that love that car but it looks like it

used like it's old now this does not

look old yeah that's amazing I did not

realize that cheap I will say by the way

all of them are the pull pull a 750i BMW

750i well yeah but we sold one that was

a 2017 two days ago for 18 something uh

cars that if dropped into your garage

and refuse to drive solely due to the

stereotype or stigma that it carries oh

this a great one yeah that's a great one

to upset a lot of people yeah what what

thing are you going to say here that

upsets people well I mean there's one I

wait there's one I really want but I

don't want the stigma because we live in

San Diego there's a lot of military

presence here and a lot of military guys

it yeah hellcats

oneit I would drive around hellat

literally I just don't want to look like

a lot of the military guys who buy that

like they get their first check they go

to PenFed Finance themselves to the

gills they buy that and they drive

around

straighte it they do burnouts everywhere

and they're irritating to most people

the Hellcat owners I think are one of

the few owner groups that would admit

that they themselves have a problematic

stigma like I think G wagon owners once

say I've talked to so many G wagon

owners like what are you talking about

what do you mean that there's a stigma

no and it's like okay you're crazy

um like okay nice to meet you and see

you later but Hellcat owners no you know

there's some stuff going on there yeah

so that's that's probably because I mean

how cool would it be even just like an

early hook to have 7 I would drive a

Hellcat in spite of the stigma a car

that I wouldn't drive would you drive

around in a G63 mg yeah you would now

yeah I mean time the SLE would suck but

I would do it but I I don't right like

I'm not actually doing it but I would

like if it was in this scenario another

one's like any modern McLaren yeah I was

thinking about McLarens McLarens are

definitely up there McLarens tell

Mustang oh a beta I'd rather a beta

cool any Buick um any Buick you wouldn't

any modern I Grand National i' Drive but

I think maybe one of those no I would

definitely drive a Grand National I

would definitely drive but there are

some like a V6 fourth

gen uh yeah an auto Auto C5 no it's

still no I drive that yeah it's a good

would want it but like I would obviously

drive it around yeah maybe like real old

guy cars like an old mobile 98 or

something like one more one more to top

it off uh CU I did borrow one while my

M5 was in for service I just can't do a

dou RX STI like man people look at you

like they absolutely hate I would do

that car in a heartbeat I'd like I'd get
