It was good, I do it pro street and then everything I was like oh well she shift was okay the first shift and I just went downhill after that I'm becoming was enjoyable in terms of the car fabrication. Yeah.

first Venture into, like, like racing simulation writing but like, you know, like on track and stuff.

You know you get HD trilogies of stuff so it's like they didn't pretty good job Crash Bandicoot yeah that should just do it with Need for Speed. You know the first three need

for speeds and then underground and then like or at the very least if you're not going to you know, remaster them just re-release them like in their current form but just so it's easier to play on current gen consoles because game game, preservations really terrible, like movies, you can Generally find you know, streaming or DVDs on that done that difficult to find but games it's like if you don't have at re and you can't find an old copy of a game used to like that's it it's all over.

He keeps you know selling yeah I wasn't everything kind of win and they left Walker back to giving you something nice like yeah just realistic. It's unfortunate.

But yeah that's why the too many games are molded to multiplayer Focus. Now you don't get good

singleplayer, I'll link you guys.

I shall always important when our Facebook page that guy's comparison of the two games. I mean like even leave his feet

on the ground to have everything.

It was like it was to me on a perfect game.

You could even Dyno tune your car.

You could adjust his suspension and a maid differences into it.

manual, this automatic. But before we get to that, we'll

finish on our on our little game.

Talk about Need for Speed. I bought, do I love them.

Neither Speed Most Wanted the original one.

Yeah, I thought I was one of the best games.

Like one of us needs to be. They were made, it was fun.

I had. And I had a Cheesy storyline,

but at the only four speeds do and it was, it was a fun game, and I really thoroughly enjoyed that game.

So, now a few years later, the games got disappointing.

And then they said, ah, we bring him back Most Wanted.

And I'm like, okay, I actually enjoyed this game.

So I went and bought it because everyone's like, oh, yeah, it's gonna be like, it's even a, even a were saying, oh, it was, To be like a, you know, back to Roots. Yeah, they have a Speed.

Most Wanted played it. After 20 minutes, I put this

back in the box and took it back to where I bought it from and I'm like this is crap. This is just, it's rubbish.

You can you just pull over and you drop into another car.

I'm like is this what? It's like had nothing at all to

do with the original? Most when it was most terrible

game they wouldn't they want to give me my money back, don't know. That will know what they were.

They offered me the swap because they assumed that I would have used the codes moment. I haven't used the courage

Avenues, anything. I'll we can trust you on.

That doesn't stop them before. So what dude, I was always like

arguing like and I don't like that guy.

Because I work in retail I'm like, dude I have no honestly just put the game in and it's a terrible game.

I've not know. You can even try the code and

see that they're they're not used and that was all we can do.

So, I took the game home and it set there collecting data for the past about four years. And every time I look at it, I

feel sick cause I'm not disappointed, how bad that game was happened to you, is Gran Turismo as well.

Gran Turismo, yet Gran Turismo. 5, I bought like the $300 cash

in later models. SOS and everything terrible.

Yeah, and nothing they hate when they're removed and they talk.

So, So long to make it as. Yeah.

And they took it, the typhoon. Why would you take it?

I like a cars in that but I had something just dumb cars at without weren't needed and it really kind of it really annoys me and like I said, that's kind of why car games are really struggling these days. And there's not many good ones

as somebody who was, I mean, like fours, I still enjoy the holding it down. They are all in terms of just

like your general easy to play. Like a fun driving games Force

has been at the Forefront for, I think a while now.

Yeah. And I think one of the biggest

hits It's as well. They did was sort of horizon.

guess the more arcade kind of feel and that's a great time.

You just driving around, I mean, number three is in Australia.

It's not very good map of Australia from honest.

Like you can have a bit more of a serious race if you really want to. Yeah.

But you can also just have a lot of fun.

And, and if you really want a simulation, right?

And you go straight to the regular Portal Games?

Yeah, I mean, I mean there's other big most like other proper simulators as well. But in terms of those

situations, you start getting the thrustmaster around, you know, wheels and pedals and shift kids as well.

Which becomes an expensive habit.

It's a good hobby and and something that should be applauded, but anyway, enough Need for Speed hate.

Well, yeah, we should do an episode Just Need for Speed.

Yeah. Like the best ones and and the

worst ones and argue that where we can probably do that in a couple weeks time well, maybe next week, if I feel up to it.

But anyway this topic has been around for a while.

I want to talk about manual is automatic, but only its, I really wanted to push it Forward tonight because Mazda have confirmed And I'll read straight off their thing.

They have confirmed that we will continue to make to build a manual gearbox. In fact, they will ascertain

their, they will be the last Japanese OEM still making cars with manual gearboxes. So that shows that people still

want the manual and I don't know, like MX-5 is, you know, like you most of the only solvent as a manual but you know in terms of just keeping a manual live it's good because let's face it manuals are dying and according to That's for example, 75% of your cars on UK were manual equipped, whereas in Australia 93% of car Satya automatics.

Those are, that is a huge, huge thing to happen to Australia.

Yeah. So the pros and cons of manuals

Well, I'm really considering I'd rather die Barracks as daily and it's a manual. I'm very much in the favor of

manuals, I feel you always more engaged with the car.

And at this point even though like it is an effort to shift gears, it's become very much as I can as you thing where I can do it without unicorn realize you don't realize you just you know going through the gears but you technically have like the most engagement with a car. Whereas whenever I do sit in an

automatic first, my foot goes to wear it a non-existent clutch.

You know, and then I realized, you know what I'm doing put into drive and I get very, yeah, almost numbed because I have to as, you know, either split CV boot.

Yes. Actually.

Had both of them split as my mechanic for me and so he took two days to fix it up in that. In the meantime I was driving

the the white turd Suzuki and it was very numbing like just driving an automatic at that point.

I just felt almost like I was falling asleep and yeah, you just not as engaged, it is. Yeah, if you're using it, as a

means of Transport, you just want to get somewhere.

It's like, I understand. But for me, I feel as dry as a

car Enthusiast. I want that engagement with a

car. I can agree that there are

certain gearboxes particular, DSG, kind, that can shift way faster than I will be able to, well, yeah, they'll be shift.

They can shift. Wasn't it?

Anywhere in the world will be able to, and I guess that's where, what would technically there are manual gearbox.

You know that, right? So, but they're in an automatic

I said, I guess, you know, there's not, you know, using a clutch, there is a clutch in the car and, you know, you're not using it and I guess that, you know, in terms of what's quicker, automatics will always be quick.

I mean, I don't know if you look at for example, times with the car and like df6 the automatics with that much quicker than the manual, because the manuals, you know, taking out if you're losing time and shifting, you're losing time, you know, in just general practice, but in terms of enjoyment Factor, you're not getting that Same thing again. Yeah it's just just mash it Mash

your foot on the pedal and you know go fast warp speed whereas in yours in a manual you can you get to row through the gears?

You have to pretend you're in Fast and Furious with with a 30,000 year, 50 blocks, just keep shifting.

If she if you do it fast and furious all you will bleed.

She's down nice face but like it's like it's your rights engagement and and it's a feel you get when you get when you hit that perfect shift, when you, when you When you want to come all the way out to the red line?

Yeah. Touch us touch limiter and into

the next gear having that control makes it makes dropping worth, while to be honest with me, and I think that's why is why I'm manuals are so important for, you know, in terms of it in terms of buying a car. Because if you want that

engaging but I totally get automatic as well.

Like I know my most romantic and it is like the perfect Cruiser, I input peak hour traffic. There is nothing worse than

being stuck in the CBD and have the clutch in class gym class.

As someone who only drives automatic and has no interest in manual at all, like because I'm not a big car Enthusiast, I'm more just here to stretch my radio muscles and to hang out with you guys. But like yeah, like just the

idea of like, for me driving. Just something to get day to be,

whereas for you guys for current dizziest, it's about the interaction with the car about the enjoyment.

So that's why Manuel makes sense for you guys.

For me. I'm just like a no interest in

it. It because I know one time we

went to the city and Matt and you were driving.

I think was the old camera. Today's veiled laser Blazer.

Yeah. And and you were like, we're

stuck in traffic. Took us ages to give you lift.

Three hours? We like bumper-to-bumper traffic

and when you got out of the car, you were limping.

Because you had the clutch that many times it was so, and I'm like, I'm never ever getting manual car.

It was like, there's no point to it.

So, like, yeah, like you were saying with the Merc, you can just cruise and suck easy. So if you have a daily that's

order, Like, if you drive to work or whatever, but then if you got like your typhoon or something, like the Rex for weekends and stuff for manual, for when you can, like, go the spur or whatever. Yeah.

That seems to make sense for me. It does.

And and, you know, like when people and people tell me, oh, I can't be bothered shifting this. Any other, like, if they live in

the city, and as far my kid, I'm like I totally get automatic sand and then, and that's what they're there for.

Yeah. But they're not, they're not a

lazy way out there. Just a more, you know,

practical, practical, practical thing, and, and that's why most people are getting a license to say.

I'd only get automatically get in one of my classes.

Like what you want to sip your light into your makeup at the same time? I'm not hating.

For me, like, I'll always on the menu car, no matter what.

Like I will happily have an automatic.

Yeah, my mercs on automatic and you know, I enjoy driving automatics because you know sometimes I said sometimes in that peak hour traffic they they were their gods in like it but then you get but then like when you take them out on the open road and stuff you you're waiting for that kick down and so they can get a bit boring. I mean the kind of dsg's kind of

like resolve that because you've still got like full functionality like, you know, you can shift.

Downshift up. Squeeze you want to but still

you're losing that mechanical connection with the Volkswagen DSG. Yeah, I've had a bit of an issue

where I guess, I'm not like I'm expecting more of a direct contact fuel the car. Yeah.

And because it's all drive-by-wire.

And obviously the gearbox sometimes, get very frustrated to the point where, you know, the car won't go when I wanted to go. So I'm pushing the throw down

even more and then it has to do something weird with the gearbox and shadows and jerks and it's not Experience as a user.

See that's what I think D is G's like all I can dual clutch transmissions in gear button in just everyday.

Cars are pointless. I really really honestly don't

like him because you know they roll back.

They they're not an automatic. Yeah.

Like if you want to buy an automatic just have a conventional Auto most conventional.

Although these days are like like really, really good.

I mean, you get like a ZF in like a Ford or even Garrett like Jags and stuff. There are, there is good if not,

there is good as a That was quick as I should say to shift as a like, a DSG but they're very, very close to it and they still get that they can still feel can't they can still you know do a do a whole bunch of it's all in the calibration of the car. They still can kick down when

you want to and they and they don't jerk.

They just smooth and refined whereas it is g once they once they really up. Yeah.

Like in everyday traffic day that they're not that they're not that perfect, you know, transmission and they are we to drive like you know like I've been in one with a focus I've been in I've been in a golf with the DH if they just feel it obviously doesn't. Of a clutch pedal it's all done.

You just flick it with your other panel next to the steering wheel. Okay.

Yeah that's all it will do it automatically but they're a bit dumb with it around 10:00. I found have you lucky, you just

one of my driving was purely are just around town, just trying to get places and maybe situation, like, where you have a U-turn right against traffic. It's a kind of free time.

There's no lights. Yeah, and you need to be on the

ball. That time you judging a gap.

You say I can make it and when you think you can make it, you press your foot down the car's not going, then you present.

Too much or does the whole joke thing it gets dangerous?

It does yeah. Like yeah I don't wanna get hit.

And at that point it was my uncle's car and I said you know I don't want to try this car. Yeah, I'd rather take my own car

because I can trust it. I know how it works and you

know, I'm used to, it's driving CS system.

Yeah. And that's just a for the for

Speed. You know, / box, Lunch Box,

mate. But at least you got that.

You're not waiting your as soon as you can, you can't seem to take it from, you can just roll, you know, and and that's what I reckon. You're going to buy an order.

By conventional automatic. Don't don't buy anything like a

DSG. I hate that you lifted.

A live foot off the brake and it doesn't roll like it might roll backwards. Yeah, you have to accelerate a

bit for actually get going and then gaining jerks.

And yeah then they carry I mean I mean like the latest gen of them are actually not too bad but I mean like postal really good one and the the pdk like that it's push.

Yeah. I know I need the same company.

I know. Well technically but they

apparently the pdk transmission is really really good at and every like Automotive journalist like Right, some super highly.

But like you gotta remember that like these GDs, you boxer, like the and then he's in there and he's golf's on that.

But but that APR 2015, two point nine seconds to 100, they're doing stupid speeds and, you know, it's that is great.

I mean, it's great in that actual performance aspect, but if your daily in the car and it's jerking, you around, like everywhere you going and just kind of missile by manual.

But as well. I mean I mean, in terms of, if

you're going to get an automatic, I'd for me, I always choose. I can just prop it automatically

like anti-torque inverted automatic?

Yeah, not not something like that because like what?

I know they've had their issues in the past and to honor that I know a lot of them have been really, really rectified in that. They're really good.

But if I want, if I want an automatic, I want an automatic.

And if I want a manual, I want a manual, you know, it's that fine line between the two And I guess the other argument to make is that cvts like I think we're to believe they very much hamstrung the CV T2 like to ensure that the consumers have that feel of gear shifts, they kind of built in their own ratios with a CVT.

Where is the ultimate value of the CBT was it would constantly change. The ratio constant, its

constant, very costly again variable transmission, so I could cost legally, that's what it is.

The gear ratio as the engine revs at Peak horsepower, Peak torque but still instead of that, a lot of Manufacturers, what they did was they tuned the kind of crush me like mimicking.

Yes, yes, yeah. Well there's would drop down and

let it climb up again, drop down where it's really what you want to get that ultimate CVT power out of it.

It's holding rose that seven thousand, six and a half thousand wherever you get that mean.

Torque and horsepower. Yeah.

And just have the car. Just changing the ratio

constantly that will give you the best acceleration of the best performance but because you must don't think the cars going anyway. Yeah.

Is this an issue that Cause working right and around town.

They can be, they can be very funny.

I know and they have their issues to Philly fan of My Buddha. Oh, he's been on the show that

they bought a Corolla, and all of a sudden just down changed, like suddenly. And, you know, just be there,

just weird, you know, it, what, why do car companies make things? So hard, just make it was just

having automatic and have a whoever make it being.

But I like, dude, I honestly, get every kind, every single aspect of them. And, and, and they make sense.

But, but for me, you know, It'll be me, just enjoyment and to know that I'm controlling a kind when, when you drive a car you have to drive a car. You do.

Yeah. You're not going to be just a

passenger. And, and every time I drive and

I'm like, I get I give one, I get bored, really, really quick to you know, I don't Italian tend to focus as well because with a manual, I'm always like, focusing on, don't like if shifting gears or well or doing something mechanical with the car being like, I guess, I guess what, with a manual car, your kind One with the car because you're you know you're this you're that word again engagement.

It is something you don't get in an automatic.

You definitely don't get certain humming kind of feeling you just like oh I'm on my way you know, might fall asleep.

Ideally you don't. But yeah, I mean and like that

like the speed fan boys would be like all but the shoe fast own and then like and they do and yeah, all the quickest cars in the world are, you know, or automatic power, you know, like music like Powerglide transmission and stuff.

So they that, you know, they just, you know, Shift have long, you long gearing and you know and and do well, but in terms of their fun fact, I like there's nothing better than getting on a windy road and like whining, you know, running through the gears up and down and and you know, touching the red line and into the next gear. And it's it's it's getting that

field that that it's feedback from a car and even like General driving. I'm not condoning this or

saying, I do this regularly, but say, you'll Mexico, you're sick.

You say you're in, you know, just just a group of friends driving around And you have a car that goes whoosh, you know, like this, where is he really? You'll you struggle to this an

automatic in the in the manual. I can just take the revs up

about 1,000 to 1,500 more and I'll get that nice little whoosh next year, wish again. You know, where's with the

automatic? Also be struggling really, to

kind of do that to change gear. Yeah.

And being being the most, I guess, fuel-efficient way, yeah, and if I want to go back to my regular over just yet just conference time, nice and easy, you know, shift leaner, 1500 rpm lower, no sound at all, or a little bit of sound, but but it's very much a nice little control way.

If you do want to have a fun drive not, not necessarily spiritual drive, just a fun drive as well.

It's, you know, it is very much possible with many where you be struggling. Do anything close to a with the

automatic. Yeah, and I guess like menu menu

drops of all. I got are these down here.

See if they feel like pretty old-school into your car's you know it may try to make you a better driver like you know when you get that perfect heel toe down shift early and you learn different things on like of the car and you learn to drive it at that little bit better. It's just that it's not

engagement in that that pushed, you know, to enjoy it more.

You just don't get with those just for your automatics.

Yeah. And I think that's I think

that's a real big fact. I will.

I mean, like, most cars today sold are like, automatic, you know, I think some kind of just how automatics now like that.

That's, that is what it is, but, you know, lonely Americans.

Yeah. What a lot of Americans can't

drive manuals and, you know, but a lot of people have that become a recent anti-theft Mission. This is what I meant.

Maybe Rogers. It's gonna American anti-theft

device and just like a picture of you have a tremendous transmission. Yes, but yeah.

It's when you're driving a manual when you get it, right?

It's so much more, satisfying than an automatic.

And, you know, I guess it's that engagement that, that, that that does, like an automatic. Look, we'll get back to this.

their responsibility about their car and I'd say Motorsport 4 I take it from that as well. Yeah, I mean like yeah, like

special Formula 1 is that that that's that's all at all on American stuff these days. But in terms of Do I think it's

dead? It all reckon.

It's very close because just because well, well, what you've just said, ride-sharing and all this as well.

But the fact is most people today, when they buy a car, they just want the convenience, they do.

And and, you know, like you and I and James and in all the convenience in a small bit, we're kind of a Dying Breed.

You know what? Like, from an outside

perspective because me, you know, just wanting convenience.

Like there's definitely the Motoring It's like you guys and you know all the car clubs and that they're definitely want the manual and we'll keep it around but it'll definitely be like a niche thing. Like like a like like you know

like collect like a collector's kind of thing, I mean.

But my having said that do James, like some cars, just have to be a manual. Like for example, I don't have a

banana GT86 with an automatic. It is terrible haven't been

GT86, you know, flat at all. Yeah, I liked her.

Yeah, this is somebody out there is gone.

Third they need to be they need to be a manual like MX-5 is have to be a manual. You know it's aren't all hot

hatchbacks. Have to be a manual because yeah

the the EcoBoost even though, why are you?

But if you buy the EcoBoost all the convertible.

You know that can forgive an automatic but you want the V8.

You know, GT Mustang just please see.

Even as me as someone who just wants automatic like if I was to buy a Mustang I'm like there's no point in getting an automatic. It's kind of like a I just

wouldn't get one because I'm like, I know I'm not that kind of person who would like drive it automatic last thing even I'm not that lame. You know, so you can go into

crowds bunny hopping it's like dude, I totally like some cars.
