00:00
Hey, we're all here, let's just start. I'll start. Hey, guys, welcome back to the drive-talk
00:05
podcast, powered by Michelin. Here we are sat round, like, waiting for the gun. I went on
00:13
Sounds like you're going to be cheating, like, our challenge later, as well, from what you've
00:17
No, I just may have misunderstood the challenge just a little bit. That's pretty good form
00:24
for me, to be fair.
00:26
I think that's what makes our challenges so good, is we all interpret them slightly different,
00:33
and PED interprets it completely different, because he only reads about half of the brief.
00:38
That's not true. I've won quite a few of them recently. Thank you, Mr Achilles, just saying.
00:43
You have, actually. Yeah, because you were dreadful to start with the sum of your...
00:48
Yeah, let's talk about how dreadful I am for now. Let's wait till the end to see
00:52
how badly I've won this challenge. So, we have a challenge coming. Now, as Pat set the
00:58
challenge, maybe you should tell everybody what the challenge is towards the second
01:02
half of this podcast after we've done our updates.
01:05
Sure. So, I wanted us to all go away and investigate on the classifieds how to get
01:10
the most horsepower for your money. So, we all love fast cars and going as fast
01:14
as possible, and our horsepower is a big part of that. So, interestingly, with the
01:18
electric market and the kind of IC, you know, traditional engine market, there's
01:23
a lot of cars you can now buy with a lot of horsepower for very cheap. Are they
01:27
reliable? Would you want to buy one? I don't know, but we've all come up with a
01:32
few options, and we're going to work out the cost per horsepower. The lower
01:37
that number, the better. Quite literally bang for your buck.
01:41
There you go, yeah. Yeah. It will spark for your buck.
01:46
If we were in German, we could have spark for your mark. Well, three euro,
01:51
obviously. Just a few years late for that one. But before we do that, everybody
01:59
needs to know the latest in AmiGate. Patrick, have you got your Ami back?
02:06
I do have my Ami back. It arrived back Saturday, so I got back up holiday
02:13
Friday. It's now Tuesday. I got it on Saturday, and it looks brand new. The
02:19
wheels look brand new. There's no rust anywhere. The bolts have been replaced.
02:23
The interior's lovely, apart from the screen, which is slightly dim on one side,
02:26
but apparently that's a common feature. It's a feature. But no,
02:30
delivered it, looks brilliant. Everything is you'd expect. I received the
02:34
accessory pack as well for free, which is very kind of them. However, some of
02:39
the accessories don't connect or work because there's missing threads or
02:43
connectors. There's bolts and parts that come with these accessories with
02:46
instructions, but they have nowhere to connect. So it's an ongoing, there's a
02:51
few more emails to be sent. Let's put it that way.
02:54
But one thing, I think some of those accessories, that's part of their
02:57
features. Yeah, it's a feature. Oh, yeah, yeah. So the OBD port or its
03:04
potential wireless accessory pack, that's a feature for not working.
03:07
Yes. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. And then the Bluetooth button on the
03:11
steering wheel that's meant to open like a special AMI play app on your
03:15
phone doesn't work on iPhones because you have to press on a notification to
03:19
open the app. So that that doesn't feel like a feature. Yeah, yeah. And
03:24
then not having the threads on the bottom of the dashboard bar for
03:27
the for the back or the net. Oh, what do you want? I mean, it
03:32
sounds like you're expecting a brand new car for Christ's sake. I mean,
03:35
that's just, you know, the sad thing is, right, is, is we're all
03:40
going, wow, he's got his car. It's how it should have been like six
03:43
weeks ago. Yeah, 40 days, 40 days from when I got it delivered to
03:49
then giving it back, it went back to them for a month. And now I've
03:52
got it back. So I'm happy of the condition of the vehicle. It
03:56
drives exactly the same. That's brilliant. Yeah, we've got
04:00
there in the end as much as they didn't want to do
04:03
everything they did apart from the screen. And yeah, the accessories
04:06
pack thing is just like confusing to me. I don't understand that
04:11
one. But they've had another email. So they've got four more
04:14
things to try and accomplish, whether they can send me the
04:16
bolts for the or the nuts for the bolts or however it connects,
04:19
I don't know. But but yeah, that is the final update on the
04:25
realize there's someone, sorry, there's someone there's someone
04:29
sitting right there sat there for four or five weeks ago, they
04:32
were like, Oh, yes, we send out all those old shitters from from
04:39
all them rusty old cars, some mugs have bought them. And then
04:42
literally now they're going, that guy, Patrick wheeling, he's
04:45
just cost us an absolute to refit them all and sell them
04:49
out as new cars. How
04:53
I did I yeah, I've had some more revealing information as
04:55
well that kind of goes to explain a lot of this. So
04:58
Citroen sent out an email to a bunch of Ami customers who
05:01
haven't received their cars yet, who are await awaiting extended
05:04
PDIs. And as part of that, they said that they had sold 150
05:08
Ami. So that was selling out of the previous generation was an
05:11
additional 150. So let's assume that there was maybe 1000 in
05:15
total that have been sold since they came out in the UK
05:18
in what 2021. And then the other thing was speaking to
05:23
the delivery driver. And he said, because he didn't know
05:25
my situation, he just assumed my car was being delivered
05:27
for the first time. He's like, Oh, you're lucky, your one's
05:29
clean. And I was like, Oh, are they not normally clean? And
05:33
he's like, Well, like loads of people got let go of this
05:36
company, they've downscaled staff, but obviously the work as
05:39
with all companies these days, the workers stayed the same. But
05:42
they've downscaled the amount of people they have either fired
05:44
them made the redundant whatever. And so he's like,
05:47
yeah, they don't even bother cleaning them anymore, they
05:49
just put number plates on them and send them out. He's
05:51
like what I do is because he's the guy who delivers all of
05:53
the press ones as well to motor shows and stuff. And he
05:56
says, what I normally do is I clean them on the way to his
05:59
delivery and I just charge back to Citroen. Because they're a
06:02
third party company in this, they're obviously contracted by
06:04
Citroen to receive the cars at port, store them, PDI them,
06:07
deliver them. Yeah, I thought that was rather revealing, as
06:10
usual, with a large company, they've decided to reduce the
06:13
workforce and keep the workload the same. And that means
06:17
things like washing the car doesn't become a priority,
06:21
So to be fair, we had guessed that that they just stuck
06:24
some number plates on it and sent it to it.
06:26
Yeah. But now they're doing extended PDI, as you said, so
06:31
there's someone that sounds they're going, yep, that's got
06:33
rust on it. Yep, that's got rust on it.
06:36
But I've seen I've I've seen I've seen a few so what alongside
06:40
this email I've seen from other people, is they're
06:42
sending photos of the condition of the vehicle prior to
06:45
delivery. And they're saying, this is your car, would you
06:49
like it or not? And that's the pictures are I've seen
06:54
and I'll try and find one and put up on screen. Now, it's
06:56
not rust that they're showing as a big issue. It's the fact
07:00
that it's like discoloured bodywork, as in the blue
07:03
plastic is discoloured. And it's like, it looks like it's
07:07
been near like a fireplace or something, which is odd. So
07:11
yeah, I don't think it's over for them yet. But
07:14
So just for anyone that's outside the UK, every March
07:19
and September, we get a new registration in the UK. So
07:22
you can basically tell how old a car is by its
07:25
registration, unless it's got a private plate. We're in
07:27
September now. So obviously yours is a 75 plate car. Oh,
07:33
no, that's right. It'd be 25 plate car. So you've just
07:37
you finally got your brand new car in September. It's
07:40
actually, it's actually on a 25 plate, but actually was
07:45
Anyway, listen, don't decide I'm glad that you've got your new
07:53
car. And also, part of what we're doing in this episode with
07:58
the challenge, whilst I was trawling through AutoTrader
08:02
and other online sites, I did notice that, as you've
08:06
mentioned before, Pat, Amis are holding their value
08:10
well. In fact, you can find like two or three year old
08:14
ones for five grand, whether they're selling for that or
08:17
not. I don't know. But there's one I saw that it said only
08:20
six and a half thousand miles and it's a 22 plate for five
08:24
grand, right? So and you paid less than that for yours. I'm
08:28
brand new for four and a half, four and a half. And and
08:32
then when I read a lot of miles for an Ami, how do you
08:36
do six and a half thousand miles in an Ami? I've
08:40
literally been driving it nonstop since they picked
08:42
up in 2022. But anyway, so at least I guess there's that
08:47
side of it. And I know none of that bothers you. But
08:49
anyway, I'm glad to see on your socials that you've got
08:52
your car and I can't wait for you to take me for a
08:55
drive in it. In fact, I can't wait to have a little
08:56
driver myself. Can you imagine? I'd sort of see a
08:59
picture of Joe sat in an Ami. It looked like it looked
09:02
like Donkey Kong. I think you'd be surprised just
09:05
how much space there is in the inside. I think both
09:07
of you actually, because my flatmate six foot four
09:10
and he's on the insurance and he drives it
09:12
because it's here at the flat. And I was worried
09:14
like, oh yeah, is he even going to be able to drive
09:16
this thing? Because no, it's actually quite spacious
09:18
inside. He doesn't have a problem. Pete, your
09:20
long legs might be a little bit more of a problem.
09:22
But how many horsepower does it have, Pat? I
09:26
actually have no idea. Do I need to Google that?
09:28
Joe, did you find out when you were looking
09:29
it up? No, no, I just want to use this as
09:32
our benchmark to see what the cost per horsepower
09:36
is for your Ami. It's eight, eight brake horsepower.
09:40
Oh, big in the game. So you've paid five hundred
09:44
and sixty two pounds per horsepower.
09:48
Hang on, hang on, but it could, will it,
09:52
hang on, will this be worse? So hang on, this
09:55
will be a great segue into the second car
09:57
that I received in the last few days of coming
09:59
off holiday, which was my Porsche Mac.
10:01
Oh, no, oh, oh, Segways are my, that's
10:04
what I do. So I'm just going to work out
10:07
how much per horsepower the Porsche has
10:09
cost me. That doesn't look right.
10:14
But is this, is this after you've got the
10:16
bill for getting it back on the road?
10:17
Yeah, so this is all costs so far.
10:19
It's how much was the Ami?
10:22
Five hundred and sixty two pounds or
10:24
horsepower. Six hundred and forty five.
10:30
Yeah, because the nine twelve has 90
10:32
brake horsepower. So there you go.
10:34
So for those, for those guys
10:37
that have recently started
10:40
watching or listening to the podcast
10:41
and if you haven't, by the way, please
10:43
hit the subscribe button.
10:44
If you're watching this on YouTube, give
10:45
us a follow on the audio podcast
10:48
platform we're using because it really
10:49
helps us kind of grow the podcast.
10:52
So some people might not know that
10:54
you actually are a Porsche owner.
10:56
Yeah, I mean, I forgot for six
10:58
months of this year, 12 months of
11:00
the year before, I mean, I've owned
11:02
it since twenty twenty two.
11:04
How many miles have you done in it, Pat?
11:07
I did a quarter of the mileage
11:09
I've ever done in that car yesterday.
11:13
And so it's four hundred in total.
11:14
I did a hundred yesterday.
11:16
I drove it back from 100 miles.
11:18
Yeah, four hundred miles.
11:20
Yeah, a hundred miles back from
11:21
Tuttles to my dad's and then for
11:23
my dad's to home in London.
11:24
And it didn't skip a beat.
11:25
It didn't break down.
11:26
It was probably the I'd argue
11:29
it's probably the second most
11:30
stressful drive of my life, the
11:32
first being the Passat efficiency
11:34
run because that was definitely the
11:35
most stressful thing I've ever done.
11:37
But driving the nine twelve back
11:39
was was yeah, was I just
11:42
I just if anything happened again,
11:44
I don't know. I think I'd have to.
11:46
I don't know why I do basically.
11:48
So it was like this this needs to
11:50
work now, given the amount of money
11:51
I put into it. And it does.
11:52
Honestly, it was it didn't miss a
11:54
beat. The gearbox is brilliant.
11:56
Like it's the gears are now
11:59
I've got a fifth gear, which I
12:00
didn't realise I had before.
12:02
Dogleg first clutch is lovely.
12:04
Like sits in the motorway 50 60
12:06
65 70 if you want to overtake,
12:08
but it's a bit loud at those kind
12:10
of speeds because the amount of
12:11
throttle input you need to give it.
12:12
But honestly, drove home.
12:14
It's got if you've ever driven a
12:15
classic nine eleven, the windshield
12:17
is massive. So you've got this
12:18
amazing view out as well.
12:21
Yeah, it's brilliant. I'm super
12:22
excited about it now. I just want
12:23
to use it more and more starts
12:26
Yeah, and it's only cost me a house
12:27
deposit. So that's good.
12:28
So you bought a nine on two.
12:32
You got the engine fixed.
12:34
Then you took out for drive.
12:36
You sent it to touch.
12:38
The fix the gearbox and you got
12:39
it back again. Yeah, yeah.
12:41
It's like the most mechanically
12:46
When I bought it, I think it
12:48
worked and the engine worked in
12:49
gearbox. And I did drive around
12:50
a little bit. I did, you know,
12:51
20 30 miles tinkering around
12:52
by my dad's house and it was
12:55
Yeah, then the engine blew up
12:57
in the gearbox, but my plan was
12:59
to put the money I've spent in
13:00
it into the bodywork and make
13:01
it look nice because it had a
13:02
working engine in gearbox.
13:03
I've now done the inverse.
13:05
So I've now spent all the money
13:06
I would have spent on the
13:06
bodywork on making it
13:08
mechanically sound, which
13:09
means it looks like a car
13:11
that shouldn't work, but it
13:12
does. So now I'm going to
13:14
we just have some rough
13:16
What what is what you bought
13:18
it for and what you spent
13:20
on it rough figures.
13:24
25 grand to buy it, which
13:26
seemed like really good value at
13:27
the time because they're worth
13:29
50 60 70, depending on their
13:31
condition. So I was like, I've
13:32
got a bit of a deal here.
13:33
Like I said, I'll fix up the
13:34
bodywork to make it perfect.
13:36
And then it'll be worth what
13:37
it's worth in the market.
13:39
And then I've spent
13:43
just over more than that
13:45
on the engine in gearbox
13:46
alone. Plus I did the
13:48
interior and all the other
13:50
usual things of fixing,
13:52
tinkering of cars, all that
13:53
kind of stuff. So we've
13:55
spent way more than it cost me
13:57
on it at this point.
14:00
So you like 50 60 K in
14:02
something like that.
14:03
Yeah, I could have bought
14:05
981 GT4 in cash instead,
14:10
which I think I might have got a
14:11
bit more use out of in the
14:12
But yeah, yeah, that's
14:14
where about where we are at
14:15
the moment. But right now,
14:16
this is if we were to do another
14:17
challenge, which is like how
14:19
much fun you can get out, how
14:20
many how many miles you can
14:21
get out for a price.
14:22
Right. My cost of ownership
14:24
right now, my cost per
14:26
But now that it's working,
14:28
I'm going to use it a lot
14:30
And then that cost per mile
14:31
will come down and down and
14:32
down 50 grand for 400
14:34
miles. That is quite a lot.
14:36
I mean, that's like worse than
14:38
Like, yeah, I could have just
14:39
yeah, just could have bought
14:40
a two nine six or something
14:41
instead and just burnt the
14:45
So so for now, yeah, I'm
14:46
just excited to be able to
14:47
use it. Obviously, we're
14:48
coming into like autumn.
14:49
So that's not ideal.
14:50
But until the roads are
14:51
sorted and we've got dry
14:52
days, I'll go out and
14:53
use it. I'll put miles
14:54
on it. Just stretch legs
14:56
because the engine again,
14:57
it's barely even run in.
14:58
It's only done three, four
14:59
hundred miles. Right.
15:00
So that's not even really
15:03
Apparently it doesn't need to
15:03
be running, but it's good to
15:05
obviously use all the gears
15:06
for the first thousand miles.
15:07
I don't just sit on the
15:08
motorway, you know, make
15:08
sure all the gears can get
15:10
But um, but no, it's
15:13
I'm still stressed about it,
15:14
but it will get better over
15:15
the next few weeks as I
15:17
put more miles on it and
15:18
it does fingers crossed
15:20
doesn't break down on me
15:21
and then I can have a bit
15:21
more confidence in it and
15:23
you know, take it to places
15:24
maybe I'll even get it to a
15:30
Well, I'll make sure I'm not
15:32
behind you just in case
15:33
there's a fluid spillage.
15:37
If it goes well, it might be
15:39
a different type of fluid
15:43
That's a that's a segue
15:45
and a half. Oh, yeah.
15:52
what we've been up to.
15:52
Now, we've all been really
15:54
busy. I don't think
15:55
when was the last time we
15:57
Would it have been boxing
16:00
We did some digital ones
16:02
after that, about two weeks
16:03
ago, in terms of physically
16:05
together, because then
16:06
obviously you've been on
16:07
holiday, but Joe, you've
16:09
been, well, if anyone
16:11
were to guess where you've
16:13
been, you went to the Alps
16:24
When I picked up my bike,
16:25
I think it was end of March
16:29
Obviously, we've had a
16:30
fantastic summer in the UK
16:32
where there's been amazing.
16:33
I've seen so many bikes out
16:37
I've been enjoying my bike
16:38
and various press bikes this
16:39
year, really enjoying
16:42
I feel like I've sort of
16:43
taken the next step this
16:45
year, obviously owning a bike
16:47
and but in my head,
16:49
because I purchased my bike,
16:51
I thought I need to take
16:53
that that bike on a proper
16:55
journey, a bit like you with
16:56
your lovely new car paired
16:58
and hopefully packed with
16:59
this Porsche next year, I'm
17:00
sure I wanted to sort of
17:02
stamp, put my own stamp on
17:04
it and take it away and,
17:05
and, you know, show my
17:07
audience if anything else
17:08
that I've brought it to
17:09
use it and enjoy it.
17:11
So I kind of followed
17:12
a similar route to what I
17:14
did on the GS a couple
17:16
of years ago, that press
17:18
And it was brilliant.
17:21
just over 2,000 miles,
17:23
which is a lot of miles on
17:25
a bike over that sort of
17:26
period of time, especially
17:27
when I'd say 60, 70% of
17:30
them were in the twisties.
17:32
And, and in my head, my
17:34
aim, I kind of set myself.
17:36
I wanted to go to the Alps,
17:37
but my end point was,
17:39
and this is what I told Lou
17:41
before I'd left, I think I
17:42
said it in my intro was
17:43
my end point is having a
17:47
So that no matter what
17:49
happened, I had to get
17:50
into Monaco, park the bike up,
17:52
sit in the cafe, have a coffee
17:54
and then turn around and come
17:55
back. And that's essentially
17:56
what I did. And I tell you
17:58
what, it was it was amazing.
18:00
I really, really enjoyed every
18:01
every second of it.
18:04
I was worried about my health
18:05
because as you both know
18:07
very well, it's been a bit
18:08
up and down this year.
18:09
So I wasn't sure that I'd get,
18:11
you know, I might get deep
18:12
into the Alps and suddenly
18:14
And in the car, that's
18:16
difficult. But if I was stuck
18:17
on a bike, it's you use
18:19
a lot of physical energy on
18:20
a bike and mental energy as
18:23
well, you know, so so it was
18:24
great. Yeah, I loved it.
18:26
Really got to explore the
18:30
on a bike is, I think
18:32
because every time because
18:33
I'm so new to biking, every
18:35
time I spend an hour or
18:37
a day on the bike, my
18:39
ability and my learning curve
18:41
gets better because it's,
18:43
you know, it's a it's a
18:44
relatively small amount of
18:46
time that I've spent on
18:48
So I learned a lot about
18:51
And it was just good for the
18:52
mind. I'm getting married in
18:54
three weeks or whatever it is.
18:55
So it was a bit can make.
18:57
I mean, yeah, in a bike trip
19:00
with a ball and chains really,
19:02
It's just not happening.
19:06
We're going this week,
19:09
I'm off this evening.
19:11
I'm off with my parents.
19:12
We're going to France.
19:14
We only got three and a
19:17
So I've got an M3CS touring
19:19
press car and I thought I'm
19:21
going to take it to the road
19:23
that Pat and I film the ST on.
19:26
You also took your bike there,
19:27
though, didn't you?
19:28
Did I take my bike there?
19:29
Yeah, yeah, yeah, which was
19:34
It's like the Champagne region
19:37
in France and it's just a
19:39
wonderful sort of area.
19:41
It's four hours off the
19:43
So we're just going to go
19:44
there, stay in the hotel for
19:46
I'm going to do a filming,
19:47
hang out with them.
19:49
It's my birthday and a couple
19:53
Unfortunately without Lou
19:54
because she's got so much work
19:58
and so much wedding planning
20:00
going on that I should be
20:05
That was really good.
20:06
And I enjoyed it and I'm
20:08
glad because as we all know
20:10
the last few days, I know
20:11
Pat, you just got back
20:12
from the holiday and suddenly
20:14
it feels like there's been
20:15
a change in the weather, right?
20:18
That extended summer we had.
20:19
It's just like, ah, it feels
20:22
autumnal now and maybe wintry.
20:25
But yes, I've been busy.
20:26
But you've been busy, Pat.
20:29
you've been here there and
20:35
Welcome to the Treadshed.
20:37
The Treadpeds Treadshed.
20:39
Yeah, I worked Carfest
20:40
with Michelin and Protire.
20:42
I went to Carfest last year
20:43
very briefly and it's
20:47
it's a it's a really interesting event.
20:48
I heard it harshly called
20:50
basically a Timu festival of speed.
20:52
But I think it's probably
20:54
probably a bit harsh.
20:57
But we had a great time.
20:58
We had a panel discussion
21:00
three times a day on three
21:01
different subjects that I hosted.
21:03
Met some really cool people,
21:07
did a lap round the little circuit
21:09
they got there with Moggy in his
21:11
very, very ridiculous beetle.
21:13
And I was good, really, really good.
21:15
And then did I hear that
21:16
Peter was running cup twos as well.
21:22
We left most of them at Carfest
21:26
Well, he did a lot of burnouts
21:28
because he's got line lock on it.
21:29
So you've got a button
21:31
that you can push that locks
21:34
when he's on the start line
21:35
with the rear wheels spinning round,
21:36
you can see the speedo moving.
21:38
He got up to like nearly a hundred
21:39
but we weren't moving.
21:44
but he did a whole three days
21:46
on one set of tyres.
21:48
I don't think he drove home
21:50
on that one set of tyres,
21:50
but he had some spares with him.
21:52
But yeah, that's some impressive
21:56
And then this weekend
21:58
I was at Salon Privet
22:00
with locked in performance.
22:02
We did a drive out with Salon
22:04
Privet and five zero supercars
22:07
which was my first drive out
22:09
I only got caught out in the rain
22:11
twice and had to stop
22:12
and put the roof up
22:13
because I was determined to have
22:14
the roof down all day,
22:16
but it was not happening.
22:19
Really, really good.
22:20
And then I'm away next week
22:22
on holiday, which is very nice.
22:24
And we're very much
22:25
afford to escaping the crappy
22:26
weather by the looks of it.
22:30
So you just said there
22:31
you got caught out twice
22:33
That's the problem with a bike.
22:34
And thankfully during the six days,
22:36
I've got 45 minutes of rain,
22:38
which I'll take all day long now
22:40
and reflection, obviously.
22:42
But when you're on a French toll
22:44
route, you know how there's like
22:46
25 minutes, half an hour
22:47
between each junction
22:49
and you're sitting there.
22:50
Suddenly you're like, oh,
22:51
clouds are going back.
22:52
Oh, oh, it's raining.
22:55
There's nothing you can do on a bike.
22:57
You can't just you can't just
22:58
stop and pull over.
23:00
Even even a complicated
23:01
spider roof is just yeah.
23:03
It's so were you in water?
23:06
But your our leather's waterproof.
23:08
What do you have like a set
23:09
of waterproofs in your backpack?
23:10
Or what's the crack?
23:12
Well, as you can see behind me,
23:15
I have to say a shout out to him
23:17
because honestly, we all work
23:19
predominantly in the car industry
23:21
and we get some amazing opportunities.
23:23
But in the bike world,
23:24
and I think I've mentioned this
23:25
on the podcast before,
23:28
you get looked after so well
23:30
by a lot of brands and RST,
23:32
who having an incredible clothing,
23:35
motorbike clothing range.
23:37
And they do helmets as well,
23:39
our helmets and stuff.
23:40
It's a big wholesaler.
23:41
But they've got so many
23:43
different technical garments
23:45
and I'm still to be honest,
23:48
I feel like I know more about riding
23:49
in motorbikes than I do about gear
23:51
because they probably sell
23:53
40 different styles of jackets.
23:55
But this one that they sent me
23:56
the black one behind me,
23:58
it's a heavily ventilated jacket.
24:00
So it's designed for the summer.
24:02
So when you've got it on,
24:03
it feels like you're almost wearing
24:04
a t-shirt, which at first is weird
24:06
because it's like, oh my God,
24:07
like, have I have I got
24:08
have I got any gear on?
24:09
You know, like everything.
24:10
But but they've all got
24:12
these amazing membrane things
24:15
that you can zip in and out.
24:16
And so that one came with a
24:18
windproof waterproof membrane.
24:20
So so when you've got that in,
24:23
obviously it blocks the air
24:25
and keeps you relatively dry.
24:28
But then when you get down to the outside,
24:29
I was having days when I was in Monaco,
24:31
it was like 33, 34 degrees.
24:32
So obviously that was completely out.
24:35
So there are things you can do
24:37
to keep yourself relatively dry.
24:39
But I think the main thing is
24:40
making sure that your luggage
24:42
and your gear is in a really good
24:44
waterproof bag because, you know,
24:47
the last thing you're gonna do
24:49
And if you're soaked,
24:50
you want to open the bag
24:51
and if everything else is soaked.
24:53
But that's all part of the attraction
24:56
for me is like, you know,
24:58
you've you've had a couple of boxes.
25:01
Well, they've actually,
25:02
that's probably a bad example
25:03
because they're really good with luggage.
25:04
But we've all had press cars
25:07
that are limited, let's say,
25:09
with luggage space.
25:10
I mean, GT3 RS, for instance,
25:12
when we went to Spa.
25:14
But and you think, oh, you know,
25:16
you're stuffing in like bags
25:17
of shoes in the cage.
25:19
And but you can get a lot of gear
25:20
in there relatively speaking.
25:22
Whereas on a motorbike,
25:24
if I'm trying to travel
25:26
with a 30, I had a 30 litre bag
25:29
And you know me, I turn up
25:31
to some of these Michelin events
25:32
and you guys take the piss out of me
25:34
because I've got like six pairs of shoes.
25:37
How many did you manage to fit in the bike?
25:39
Did you have them all like hanging off
25:40
the handlebars and stuff?
25:43
I had them around my neck,
25:44
you know, like the shoelaces
25:45
and then sort of hanging here like that.
25:47
No, so yeah, in that instance,
25:50
it's like, right, so I've got my riding boots
25:52
and then I'm bringing one pair of trainers
25:55
and they even those,
25:57
I had to think they had to be lightweight,
25:59
nice, comfortable trainers.
26:00
Couldn't Pilotti just send some down though to Monaco?
26:07
Well, maybe you could find a pair,
26:09
I don't know if you've got a pair,
26:09
maybe like, I don't know, black, really yellow,
26:14
like transforming trainers.
26:15
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it looks like a bumble,
26:17
but oh look, yeah, yeah.
26:19
No, I couldn't find any of those.
26:23
But it was like, it was quite a nice challenge.
26:25
It's like it's almost like,
26:27
you know, you've got that mountain space,
26:30
And basically what can you not bring?
26:32
Even down to things like the toothpaste,
26:34
you'll end up bringing like small travel toothpaste
26:37
that you sort of maybe bring on a plane
26:39
or small deodorants and just to try and minimize everything.
26:44
And I think there's something quite nice about that.
26:46
And then when you get home,
26:47
I was saying to Lou yesterday,
26:49
I was unpacking that bag finally
26:51
and there was only maybe one T-shirt
26:53
and a jumper that I didn't end up using.
26:56
So I packed pretty well,
26:59
but it does teach you about sort of wastage
27:02
and that actually you can literally live out
27:04
of a bag for a week.
27:06
And I know it sounds ridiculous to some people, but yeah,
27:10
I'm going to upset the motorcycle community here,
27:12
but they're not necessarily people
27:13
known for their personal hygiene.
27:15
So we're in a T-shirt, the same T-shirt for like four days
27:18
and a pair of underpants for a couple days
27:20
probably isn't a major issue, is it?
27:22
Well, but this is true.
27:25
But then I'm not a fully blown biker.
27:28
But then say how many pairs of underpants did you take?
27:32
I brought a pair for every day and I used them all.
27:36
Yeah, so, yeah, but anyway.
27:40
So it's just, it's different things that you don't,
27:43
like, you know, tonight going off with my parents,
27:47
I've got a three series touring.
27:48
I'm going to be bringing six pairs of trainers
27:51
probably in three noses.
27:53
How many pairs of Pilates?
27:58
You need to have your driving shoes for in the car.
27:59
Then you've got to have your shoes for the photo shoot.
28:01
Then you've got to have your shoes for dinner.
28:03
Shoes for your birthday itself, obviously.
28:04
You have special shoes for that.
28:06
I tell you what, this guy,
28:08
the amount of grief I get for my channel partners,
28:11
you're the OG, mate.
28:13
You have more product placement than anything.
28:16
I got grief, actually, I'm going to,
28:18
while we're on this subject,
28:19
because I've got a comment that's really, really
28:22
Is doing kind of these product placements,
28:26
all joking aside, is ad revenue these days
28:29
is so shocking that you've got no choice
28:31
but to work with partners and products
28:35
to help fund what we do.
28:37
Because if you didn't do it,
28:38
all these people moaning that we do it
28:39
that watch our videos for free,
28:41
you literally wouldn't be able to do it.
28:44
Whether that's Michelin or Piloti
28:46
or for me, Lockton Performance or 5-0 Supercars,
28:50
all of these are critical cogs in the wheel
28:53
that allow us to do this job.
28:55
And, you know, unfortunately,
28:58
we don't have the ad revenue of some of the bigger channels
28:59
like your Matt Armstrong's who's smashing it.
29:01
It's the only choice we have.
29:03
But even he must be feeling it,
29:06
even with his views,
29:07
because we're getting less per view than we ever were.
29:11
So even for him, it must be,
29:14
but you said it right, cogs in the wheel.
29:16
And if it's a cog in the wheel,
29:18
which it is with what you,
29:20
the companies and the brands that you work with
29:22
and the same with me,
29:23
they're cogs in the wheel.
29:25
Whereas, and I know this is going slightly off-subject,
29:28
but there's a lot of...
29:29
Oh, see, there's my segue to let you to talk about.
29:32
No, no, no, that was my segue, actually.
29:37
Yeah, there are cogs that most certainly aren't on the wheel
29:41
and we're seeing so much of it at the moment.
29:44
And I'm not going to go on about it
29:46
and sound like a cynical old man,
29:47
but there is some pathetic integrations
29:52
and advertisement going on at the moment,
29:54
mostly with Chinese brands.
29:56
And it just really boils my piss
29:58
to see some of these people that are out there that...
30:02
We're starting with super car audiences
30:07
advertising family Chinese cars.
30:10
Yeah, but not just advertising.
30:12
I'm saying then they are the best.
30:14
I've got some quotes here.
30:19
It's a ridiculous...
30:21
It's gone way too far
30:22
and it is just pathetic that these people are doing it.
30:25
Affordable, stylish, ultimate family car.
30:29
A Cherry Tigo 8 is the ultimate family car.
30:34
I mean, I didn't realise that, but apparently it is.
30:37
Anyway, let's move on.
30:39
I think I can add a bit of insight
30:42
from the other side of this.
30:43
I'm not a YouTuber.
30:45
I work on the backend production,
30:47
but also I previously did talent management
30:48
and I still work on a bit of commercial deals and stuff.
30:51
So I have an understanding of what brands want and need.
30:54
I think my biggest thing I've always said to brands
30:56
and I always try and reaffirm
30:58
whenever you do anything commercial,
30:59
which then pays the bills or facilitates better content,
31:02
is that brands should be seen to facilitate things
31:04
your audience can enjoy or benefit from.
31:07
So it should always be of benefit to your audience.
31:11
Like Michelin facilitate amazing opportunities,
31:14
video ideas, like that's the relationship you have with them.
31:17
It's either content that's interesting
31:19
or content that you want to do anyway
31:21
that can be helped by Michelin.
31:23
Whether it is directly financially,
31:25
I mean, I still can't believe,
31:26
you probably still get comments today, Joe,
31:28
about the Passat trip.
31:30
why did you spend 600 pound on the Euro tunnel?
31:32
You didn't need to spend that much.
31:33
Like it was, that was like a weirdly,
31:35
like people latch onto that in that video.
31:38
It's not the thousands of thousands of pounds
31:43
we spent on a two and a half grand car.
31:44
It was the fact that we spent 600 good in the Euro tunnel,
31:46
but brands like that,
31:48
and brands that you work with,
31:50
they provide you opportunity
31:51
and that brand provides a benefit to your audience.
31:54
Sometimes the product that you're promoting
31:57
Like you like the product,
31:58
you would recommend the product.
31:59
Joe would recommend RST jackets.
32:01
We would recommend not yellow night dunk trainers,
32:04
but maybe some Pilates.
32:07
But we talked about the products.
32:08
Real about putting Michelin tyres
32:10
on my mountain bike this week.
32:12
People saying how it was,
32:13
oh yeah, we get it, you're sponsored by Michelin.
32:15
I'm like, well, I'm just showing another side.
32:18
Some people might have realised
32:19
that they do a rain to bike tyres.
32:20
That's all I'm showing.
32:21
Before we move on to our,
32:23
before we move on to our next subject,
32:25
I've been trying to get this segue in loads of times.
32:26
I was going to use shoes on feet
32:28
to shoes on your bike, Joe,
32:29
but what Michelin tyres are you running on that bike?
32:32
Because you spoke about rain, 33 degrees,
32:35
like in a car, I'm going to pick a PS4S or a PS5
32:39
depending on what my car is.
32:40
But what is your bike equivalent?
32:42
I know your bike is a kind of a off,
32:44
slightly more off road bias if you want,
32:46
but like where did you go in terms of fitting on a tyre
32:49
that suited all weather conditions?
32:52
So yeah, my F900GS is an adventure bike.
32:55
It's a middleweight adventure bike.
32:56
I think no term it has.
32:58
So let's call it an adventure bike
33:00
because a lot 90% of people that have adventure bikes
33:04
use them mostly on road.
33:06
So I would almost class an adventure bike
33:08
as something like a BMW X5 in the car world, right?
33:14
Again, most people use SUVs on the road.
33:17
And so as a result,
33:19
the tyre choice for that sort of bike is quite vast.
33:22
And there's a lot of different tyres ranging from,
33:25
let's say, Anarchy, Michelin, Anarchy Wilds,
33:29
which are almost like motocross tyres
33:31
with big nobbles on them,
33:33
designed predominantly to go off road
33:35
with a bit of on-road ability.
33:37
And then the ones that I've got on the bike at the moment,
33:40
I took on that trip are Anarchy roads.
33:43
So they're designed for adventure bikes,
33:46
but actually they're basically road tyres.
33:50
So it'd be like a PS4S SUV on an X5M, for instance.
33:56
That's what I would translate.
33:58
So it was a predominantly road tyre
34:01
that dealt with, yeah, would deal with wet roads, dry roads.
34:04
It dealt with heat very well,
34:06
because I started pushing them.
34:08
I got them, you know, worn the rear one,
34:11
especially right to the edge of the tyre,
34:13
which I was quite happy with.
34:14
What do you call them?
34:17
Chick, chick, chick.
34:20
Chick and strip apparently.
34:22
Oh, chick and strips.
34:24
You might have to beep that one out.
34:27
I'll beep out one of the two words.
34:29
Yeah, so my bike, definitely all those tyres
34:32
had massive chicken strips on them before I left,
34:35
but by the time I'd been in the Alps or a day,
34:38
those chicken strips started to disappear and now they're.
34:41
But I mean, bike tyres, just quickly talking about them.
34:47
I talked about it a bit in one of my vlogs,
34:49
which will be out in about eight months time, probably,
34:52
but we've talked about MoGP tyres,
34:58
but in a way, a tyre, a road bike tyre
35:03
or any sort of bike tyre,
35:04
and it's the same, I guess, for bicycles as well,
35:07
is you've got to think about what the tyres design is to do,
35:11
because my bike, during a normal motorbike's life,
35:15
it probably spends 95% of its life more or less upright.
35:21
And so 95% of your tyre wear is on that tiny bit
35:26
in the centre of the tyre, because the tyre's upright.
35:29
But, and so, if you use a bike tyre for years,
35:34
what happens is the tyre gets quite square,
35:36
because the middle of the tyre wears out.
35:39
And so, but then at the same time,
35:42
that centre patch of the tyre has to deal
35:44
with maximum acceleration, in some case,
35:47
over 200 horsepower on the sports bike,
35:49
and maximum braking ability, which is amazing
35:53
with these new braking systems.
35:55
So you've got to make that centre piece of tyre wear so well,
36:00
and I'm talking about a 20p coin contact patch.
36:05
That's got to wear extremely well,
36:07
but yet provide braking and acceleration grip.
36:11
And then when you get towards the edge of the tyre,
36:14
so the anarchy roads are like a two compound,
36:17
so softer on the outside shoulders
36:19
and then harder on the inside.
36:21
The outside, I almost have a less respect or admiration,
36:25
because the outside, you're on it much less,
36:28
you can make it a bit softer, give you the grip.
36:30
But it's that centre piece, which does boggle my mind,
36:33
because on a car tyre,
36:35
we're running mostly across the tread of the tyre,
36:38
so you've got that much of a contact patch, you know?
36:41
And I find that fascinating,
36:43
because we're not talking about small numbers
36:45
on sports bikes, we're talking about 200 horsepower.
36:48
So yeah, I think the technology in a motorbike or bicycle tyre,
36:54
it's arguably almost more impressive
36:56
than the stuff we find on our car tyres,
36:58
because you've got such a small space to produce
37:02
all of that grip and longevity on.
37:06
Anyway, there you go.
37:08
That's probably enough tyre talk in one pod...
37:11
Tire? Tire nerd? Tire nerd.
37:14
Oh, you guys just talk about Michelin tyres,
37:19
The thing is, though, I don't know if you guys
37:21
would be exactly the same when I was at a car fest,
37:24
you know, they had a couple of guys from Michelin there
37:26
who were designers, tyre designers, right?
37:28
You get talking to them,
37:29
and you very rapidly become a complete and utter tyre geek,
37:33
because it's so interesting,
37:35
or at least I find it really interesting anyway.
37:39
Should we do our challenge?
37:40
Yeah, talking of needing good tyres for lots of horsepower,
37:44
we'd recommend Michelin's on all of these options.
37:49
They're getting worse and worse.
37:53
Talking of worse, Pete, you're going first.
37:55
Go on, we're going to do an EV1 or an ICE1 first,
37:59
which one do you want to go for?
38:01
Let's just kind of set the scene for everybody.
38:04
We've each chosen, or tried to find,
38:07
an internal combustion engine car and an EV
38:11
that has the most horsepower per pound.
38:22
Oh, I'm just going to go for it.
38:24
No, no, no, Pat, I think Pat should start this, though.
38:26
I think I need to go last.
38:28
No, no, I want to go last.
38:31
All right, Pat, you go first.
38:33
I'll go in the middle, so you can take the mickey out.
38:35
Do you want me to do petrol or electric?
38:39
Let's do petrol first.
38:40
No, electric first.
38:42
And then only because I've either been a complete genius
38:47
with my combustion engine
38:51
or everyone else has thought the same thing.
38:54
So, if I could, I'd like to be last.
38:58
With combustion engine.
38:59
Let's do electrics first, then.
39:02
OK, I'm going to post it into the chat, so here we go.
39:04
This is my electric offering, and I shall explain why.
39:12
You've not picked the exact same one, have you?
39:19
Exactly the same one.
39:21
14 pounds, 39.9 pence per horsepower.
39:26
That's correct, yes.
39:28
Are you picked the same one, Joe?
39:30
The exact same one.
39:32
So did you learn...
39:34
So this is a Tesla Model S P85D dual motor.
39:38
It's a 691 horsepower, yeah.
39:41
Yeah, it's a 2015 car on a 65 plate.
39:44
It's got 151,000 miles, so it's basically box-fresh,
39:48
and it's 9,950 pounds.
39:50
Now what I learned, because the first thing I did,
39:52
was like, well, I'll just go get a ludicrous.
39:54
I'll get a P100D ludicrous, or I'll get a Model 3 performance,
39:57
whatever they're called.
39:58
And then I very quickly learned that they don't actually
40:00
have any more horsepower, they just deliver the power differently.
40:03
And so buying a more expensive 100D ludicrous, or whatever,
40:07
doesn't actually get you more horsepower for the money.
40:12
It gets you the same horsepower, and it costs more.
40:17
Yeah, I mean, it's...
40:19
I mean, everyone knows where I stand with Tesla.
40:22
They are arguably, I guess, the best electric cars
40:25
out because of the infrastructure and the value for money.
40:28
But you can't argue with that, can you?
40:30
Under 10 grand for something with 700 horsepower.
40:34
This does... Joe, what did an M3...
40:37
Where do you get the 700 horsepower from?
40:43
If you go to Spec and Features, then it goes to Performance.
40:45
And then I cross-referenced this with Google.
40:47
It's 691 brake horsepower.
40:49
I'm not sure it is.
40:54
And 930 Newton-metres of torque.
40:59
Because I've got a P90D,
41:02
and my P90D is specced at 463 horsepower.
41:10
The additional power comes when you do...
41:13
The total power output number is based off like a moment in time,
41:18
not a consistent delivery of power.
41:21
You're right in that sense.
41:23
Well, none of the cars actually provide horsepower numbers at all.
41:29
For example, the P85D 2015.
41:31
This is it, actually. I've just looked at it here.
41:33
Twin electric motors.
41:34
221 brake horsepower front.
41:36
670 brake horsepower rear.
41:42
Yeah, yours is 762 horsepower, Ped.
41:46
762 and a thousand Newton-metres.
41:49
See, I don't think you can add them together.
41:51
Anyway, we're picking its drawers.
41:54
I mean, that's the case then.
41:57
Just add the two horsepower together.
41:59
It doesn't work that way.
42:01
Each of those motors is able to do those two things.
42:04
But you don't say, oh, 600 on the back and 200 on the front.
42:08
That means I've got 800.
42:10
But your P90D in ludicrous mode
42:13
will produce 762 horsepower
42:16
and up to a thousand Newton-metres in ludicrous mode.
42:19
So surely that's what we go of.
42:21
And it's the same with the 85.
42:23
It's 691 in ludicrous.
42:27
See, the bit, of course, that we're all missing
42:29
which is probably the most compelling reason
42:32
to buy a Model S of that age
42:34
is you're getting that much horsepower for free.
42:38
Because any Model S pre-2020,
42:43
you get free supercharging.
42:45
So you can charge it up for free.
42:47
Although this one doesn't say that in the advert.
42:50
But you are right, aren't you?
42:56
Now, you've got to contend with the fact that
42:58
they'll have panel gaps.
43:00
You know, there's a river between the panels.
43:02
I mean, yours has done...
43:04
Who was the last owner?
43:09
Mine has done 81,000 miles.
43:15
The spec on yours is really nice, Ben.
43:19
See, I didn't just go for...
43:21
I didn't just go for raw...
43:24
This is the caveat that I have in.
43:26
Yeah, can I just...
43:28
Sorry, can I just...
43:29
I wanted to see a car I'd actually want to buy as well.
43:32
What ties is your car running, Pete?
43:34
What ties is your car running?
43:37
Because mine's running Michelin Pilot Sport 4s.
43:41
Most Teslas do come on Michelins.
43:43
I mean, it's about the only good thing about Teslas.
43:46
This is on another tire brand.
43:49
In fact, I think it has multiple different ties.
43:51
Oh, have you seen the driver's seat in my one, Joe?
43:53
I've just seen the driver's seat in the one that we picked.
43:55
I'm probably should have looked at that variety.
44:00
It's also got a wooden dashboard, which I've never seen before
44:03
and shouldn't exist in a Tesla.
44:05
You don't buy a modern car in a Tesla.
44:07
We've seen this all the crap in the boot.
44:09
What's happening with the boot?
44:13
Oh, mate, the interior of yours is terrible.
44:19
Yeah, it's not great.
44:21
The takeaway, I mean, it was a little bit predictable.
44:24
So I have an extra one to throw in.
44:29
This is where I don't think it will win
44:31
the pure horsepower per pound challenge.
44:34
But if you want a lot of horsepower
44:36
for not a great deal of...
44:38
Oh, sorry, for a decent amount of money.
44:42
It is electric, yeah.
44:44
So let me fight its case.
44:48
So this car has around about 600 horsepower.
44:50
I'm just going to change...
44:51
I'm just going to change the rules slightly here.
45:00
It's from a Kia dealer.
45:02
It's still in warranty.
45:06
And it's 600 horsepower.
45:09
I mean, that's a lot of car, yeah.
45:10
It's amazing value, isn't it?
45:14
So don't take the Mickey out.
45:16
I mean, so 576 horsepower.
45:23
You're not winning anything with that metric, though, Ped.
45:27
It's two years old.
45:30
If we're playing a different game,
45:32
this would be a win, too.
45:35
It's literally half price.
45:38
It reminds us of, like, 10% of the value.
45:40
Okay, here's the thing.
45:41
Which one would you rather have?
45:43
The Kia or that smashed up a lot of wheel?
45:48
But this is three years and a bit times the price.
45:51
But, listen, I'm not taking anything away from it.
45:53
I think that's amazing value.
45:55
This is just where I've...
45:57
I've just been creative with the brief, that's all.
46:00
I mean, as we all know,
46:02
EVs do not depreciate quickly.
46:07
I mean, that's amazing value, isn't it?
46:12
But back to our Tesla.
46:14
Anyway, back to the game.
46:15
If you want a cheap EV that goes really fast,
46:17
buy an old Model 3 or Y,
46:19
buy a Model S because you get your free supercharger.
46:22
Back to winning the game,
46:24
I think we have to agree...
46:25
Back to the winners.
46:27
I think we have to agree right now
46:28
there is no way to be a Tesla Model S
46:31
in terms of horsepower.
46:33
If there is, if we've missed something,
46:36
please let us know in the comments
46:38
or message us on Instagram,
46:41
because, obviously, there might be something
46:43
that we're completely missing here.
46:47
Obviously, you don't, you know,
46:48
let's not have a conversation
46:49
around what happens when you get to a corner
46:53
Don't worry about that.
46:55
That wasn't in the brief.
46:57
People will think of you
46:58
because you drive around in a Tesla.
47:04
Now, let's move on to...
47:05
The fact that we all chose the same car
47:08
There was only one way to go for the electric car.
47:09
I was convincing them
47:10
I was going to choose a Taycan,
47:11
but it was still quite big money.
47:12
We didn't choose the same car.
47:15
We'll just clear that up.
47:16
Me and Patrick chose the same car.
47:17
You chose the Tesla Model S.
47:22
Just quickly talking about
47:24
choosing another car.
47:25
A Tesla Model 3 performance
47:26
is also a good shout.
47:27
You can buy a much newer car.
47:29
There are about 15 grand for a cheap one
47:31
and they have 460 brake horsepower.
47:37
that's 33 horsepower per pound.
47:42
if you want a more reliable,
47:43
equivalent experience,
47:45
you spend 5 grand more,
47:46
you get a little bit less power,
47:47
but the car is going to be a lot better.
47:49
Or you can spend double again
47:55
Leave this on the...
47:56
I just think you guys
47:57
just need to be a little bit more understanding
47:59
and stop being mean to me.
48:01
I think you just need to read the brief.
48:03
I'm worried about you.
48:05
I'm worried about you, Pat,
48:07
that you're going to think out of the box
48:10
I have thought out of the box.
48:12
And not out of the box like Ped
48:14
that's gone off on a completely different tangent.
48:17
I have actually done a Ped
48:18
and I do have one that's like weirdly like,
48:22
but it's interesting.
48:23
But this is the one I think
48:24
that will win from a...
48:27
you've chosen a tank
48:29
or a bloody lorry or something.
48:31
No, it's not a tank or a lorry.
48:34
It is a Bentley Continental
48:41
92,000 miles on the clock
48:43
and it's 13 and a half grand.
48:45
Now it was put up two months ago
48:47
or two and a half months ago now
48:49
at 18 and it's since been dropped
48:51
four and a half grand in price
48:52
because clearly they've realised
48:53
trying to sell a car with these terrible pictures
48:56
Is that the only pictures?
48:59
Oh my God, that's shocking.
49:01
It's 600 brake horsepower,
49:03
600 brake horsepower,
49:04
700 brake horsepower,
49:05
750 newton metres of torque.
49:08
I'm going to do a Pete here
49:10
and I'm going to use another statistic
49:11
to try and win you over on this.
49:14
This will do 202 miles an hour.
49:17
It wasn't in the brief.
49:18
13 and a half grand.
49:20
So 22 pound per brake horsepower.
49:23
You can have a Bentley.
49:24
You can waft around in that
49:28
Then you can go 0 to 64 seconds
49:30
as he's 200 miles an hour.
49:36
That's all we want to know is the figure.
49:41
Okay, I can beat that.
49:47
I'm going to go next
49:48
because Joe, apparently,
49:49
he's won already because he's...
49:51
I've definitely destroyed Patrick
49:55
I can't believe it.
49:56
I have gone Italian.
50:02
a 2007 Maserati Coupe
50:12
How much power can this thing have?
50:14
Surely it has, like, 300 brake.
50:16
No, it has 390 horsepower.
50:20
Which comes out at 19 pounds.
50:25
Yeah, I just went for the
50:26
highest horsepower possible
50:27
than look for the cheapest.
50:29
That's very clever of you.
50:33
Now, all I'd say is...
50:34
And it's only done 85,000 miles.
50:36
I mean, the only kind of...
50:37
Because it's paid most of the time
50:40
The only kind of idiot
50:41
that would buy this car
50:42
is the kind of person...
50:44
...to buy a Porsche 9112
50:45
and hope it wouldn't blow up.
50:48
No, I can see you in this.
50:49
Go into the tennis club,
50:51
And the other good thing is
50:52
it's not the boomerang lights
50:55
the nice lights at the back.
50:58
Oh, I would call them nice.
51:02
Compared with the boomerang ones,
51:03
which have never been a panel.
51:06
Yeah, I mean, this is...
51:07
This is quite impressive.
51:08
I'll give you that.
51:09
I didn't think like this.
51:10
You thought out of the box here.
51:11
I just went for the horsepower.
51:13
It's not impressive.
51:14
You're both rubbish.
51:18
I'm going to destroy you both.
51:20
I'm going to destroy you both
51:22
in a different stratosphere.
51:24
Firstly, should I give you my...
51:27
Figure before I show you the car.
51:29
What, the pounds for horsepower?
51:31
£2.17 per horsepower.
51:36
No, but you just bought something
51:37
really cheap, haven't you?
51:42
What do you mean, oh, come on?
51:46
Stop getting away from the game.
51:48
It's bought a four horsepower car
51:52
You've done a Jeremy Clarkson here.
51:54
Well, you've bought
51:55
£150 that's got 90 horsepower or something.
52:01
It's bought a lorry or something.
52:04
No, because a lorry wouldn't work out that well.
52:11
Oh, I bought a BMW.
52:20
Oh, the sim is £300.
52:41
It's got 210,000 miles on it.
52:45
It runs perfectly fine.
52:46
There's no advisories.
52:48
Look at that interior as well.
52:53
I was so close to using an M140i that had been tuned,
52:57
which would have worked out very similar to Pat's,
52:59
but Ped would have still won that.
53:01
And then suddenly I was like,
53:03
actually, no, we're going about this the wrong way.
53:06
What's the cheapest thing you can buy that runs?
53:09
And then suddenly I was like,
53:10
oh, it's £300 for something with 140 horsepower.
53:13
And it's got to be a winner.
53:17
You didn't see that one coming.
53:19
No, that's not quite the spirit of the game.
53:24
I was looking for performance cars that are great value.
53:27
You've just provided great value.
53:30
There's no performance there.
53:32
No, let me bring up the brief that Patrick sent one second.
53:36
It was Patrick's idea.
53:38
That Honda is so bad.
53:40
Half our audience are going, I'd rather buy a Tesla.
53:44
The Tesla's become good value all of a sudden.
53:47
Most horsepower for your money.
53:51
That was in the brief.
53:52
Most horsepower for your money.
53:55
That is the most horsepower for your money.
53:59
Now, what you've gone for is the lowest amount of money
54:02
you can spend to buy some horsepower.
54:05
No, I've gone for most horsepower for your money.
54:09
£300 Honda Civic 2.2 diesel is the most horsepower for your money.
54:16
I missed the fact that it was an oil burner.
54:19
You get 60 miles to the gallon as well.
54:22
So I'm now going to provide the option I had
54:25
as like a kind of a kind of Pete's outwardly thinking option.
54:31
So I was thinking most horsepower for your money.
54:34
So a relevant of cost per horsepower
54:36
or horsepower per power or whatever.
54:38
This is purely what I think is the most horsepower
54:43
of your horsepower for the money you can spend.
54:45
It absolutely smashes Pete's 30 grand Kia.
54:49
But it is also 30 grand.
54:51
This is a 900 horsepower AMG C63 from 2017.
54:56
It's got a Stage 3 tune.
54:59
It's got downpipes.
55:01
It's got additional fuel pumps.
55:03
It's got lowering springs.
55:06
It's also running Michelin PS4.
55:08
Tires on the rear only, which has just read that.
55:13
It's got carbon splitters.
55:16
Joe Achilles' favourite thing to do.
55:18
Carbon splitters and rear valentines.
55:21
That's a serious bit of kit though, isn't it?
55:26
That's quite fast, I reckon.
55:29
It is, but I'm watching that.
55:31
I'm looking at that and going,
55:33
yeah, but who did all the work?
55:34
Because it's probably some, you know,
55:39
I'm not sure how...
55:41
We need a new challenge, which is the most reliable horsepower.
55:44
Because so far I've picked a Bentley Continental
55:47
for 13 grand, which isn't reliable.
55:49
A Tesla Model 3 with 150,000 miles, which won't be reliable.
55:52
And a C63 modified by a man in a back garage,
55:55
which won't be reliable.
55:57
And once again, I've picked a Honda Civic,
56:00
which is arguably the most reliable brand
56:05
on the planet, Honda, Japanese,
56:08
the Civic, known for its longevity.
56:11
It's amazing build quality.
56:15
You don't have to sing its praises too much.
56:19
I'm tempted to buy it.
56:22
I mean, it's a great video title for YouTube.
56:25
It's cheaper than an AMI.
56:32
What could go wrong?
56:34
What could go wrong?
56:36
It's quite far away in Bradford.
56:44
Well, there you go.
56:45
I know you guys are really jaded about this,
56:48
because you just can't deal with the fact that,
56:51
number one, I've absolutely blown you away with the ice vehicles.
56:55
And number two, it's a Honda Civic diesel that beat you.
56:59
I know that must be quite hard to accept.
57:02
You've got to live with the credibility, though, Joe.
57:05
At least me and Pat chose stuff with, like, you know, a V8 and a V12.
57:11
You've got to put your clown shoes on.
57:14
Put your clown shoes on, mate, yeah.
57:16
Put on my winning shoes.
57:19
Your wedding shoes.
57:23
Could I get a wedding?
57:25
No, if you lose at home today, don't say that out loud.
57:27
Yeah, you're getting a lot of trouble.
57:29
Anyway, well, I think that turned out far different than I expected,
57:32
because I genuinely thought you'd also all go get Bentley Continental GTs,
57:35
because they're the most horsepower for the money.
57:39
Joe's won on the technicality, and that's okay.
57:48
There's no technicalities.
57:53
Anyway, if you enjoyed that one, guys,
57:55
make sure to subscribe and tune in for more,
57:59
because we do these a lot.
58:01
Look back at our back catalogue,
58:03
and you'll see ones that I won a lot.
58:07
Big thanks to Michelin,
58:09
and go out and get yourself a £300 Honda Civic.
58:12
Yeah, make sure you put Michelins on it, though,
58:14
so you've got safe performance,
58:16
because, God forbid, you deploy all that 140 at once in it.
58:18
You might get some wheel spit or something.
58:20
You might lose control.
58:22
Well, you could buy a cherry,
58:24
because they're the best family car you can buy.
58:26
Oh, yes, they are the ultimate...
58:28
the ultimate family car.
58:36
You can end it right in there.
