You know, the north we've got, we've got some special terms here. Like I don't know if you guys

have heard them from here. Like if it spins forth, bring it

to the North. You know, you probably would

have heard drop a gear disappear.

But yeah, there's many like like that that we get only in the North. I live, I lived in Coburg for a

year and unfortunately that wasn't long enough to learn the local lingo. But, you know, I'm definitely

not opposed to coming back here and, you know, becoming a Northerner myself. Absolutely it's which is weird

because Melbourne is South of the pretty much the bottom of Australia. Those Mexicans.

I know I've been surprising. I've been called Mexican a few

times. My, I've got Fogger family in,

in NSW up top and midway up top and, and they, they call us Mexicans all the time. So it's like we see yourself of

the border, you're a Mexican. I'm like, OK, sure, we'll go

with that. We're about as far from Mexico

as you can. Possibly be.

I love how we don't count Tasmania.

You're here for a short time. I thought I'd just throw Hell

Hey, as we say in sales, if you don't ask, you don't get, correct, Yeah. So I've, I've, you know, I've

done that for a few people and you know, it's, it's worked for some and others I've heard nothing.

But but for you, I was like, oh, well, you know, you responded and and that was amazing. Been a big fan of of you and

Nick's work for for a very long time.

Well, thank you so much. You guys have been like kind of

YouTube superstars for a long time.

I'd. Hesitate to call us you

superstars, but you know Doug Demiro's the real 1, Matt Pair's the real one that's. Just you being humble.

Correct. Almost a million.

Subscribers almost had a million subscribers.

Everybody surpassed us. And like for people who

listening, we are a derogatory YouTube channel that is sort of in the world of automotive community.

We are the B side maybe. I guess in a way we are proud

that we never really compromised our principles as most of YouTube has gone to being influencers who are just walking products. We're still KMFDM and just, you

know, actively trying to ruin our own reputation for the, for the, for the sake of profane art, because the idea, the idea of, of regular car reviews, it started almost as a troll.

Well, it was, it was a troll YouTube channel for people who were coming in who wanted, oh, thank goodness.

There, there is a, a show out there that doesn't do super cars or sports cars. It's regular car reviews and

the, and the early videos, which people are saying, well, why aren't you going to do this again?

The well, the the environment of YouTube has changed in the past 10 years, but the the early videos, they began as a normal car review for about maybe 18 seconds.

I mean. And they would just go crazy.

Like we wouldn't even talk about the car.

We'd be making up characters. And then it would then it would

smash cut back to the car review and and in sort of the normal like with a very radio voice that would come in here like the Subaru Outback Impreza is a fine sort of car.

For me to hide my demons, I remember.

The first one was sort of your one of your shows.

I don't know guys if you would agree with.

My wife left me for a post office building.

Quite literally like you, you reminded me of there's a Facebook page that we have in Australia called single dad low income single Dad cars. And it's and it's, it's just

virtually that of like my wife left me, you know, this is this is all those things come to play when and you see when you see a car like that. And yeah, if you've probably

seen us, like you'll get an on the show.

But we're all very basic car people.

Like we like the most mundane weird things.

And it's nice to see a show that that you know, does it, you want a very unique way, but to, you know, it embraces the weird and it embraces like a bit of a bit of bit of this bit of that.

And it's not afraid to to drive a Hyundai Tiburon, you know what I mean? Which is which is cool.

Yeah, like we went all the way to the UK to drive an MX5 because it had a different engine than you could get.

You had a worse it had a smaller engine.

How does it, how does that even happen?

Like like like how does how do you put a small like an even lower powered engine in an MX5? They're not a fast car to begin.

With right I I mean it was an NC so third Gen Miata and I can't off the top of my head pull out my car nerd knowledge of what we got in. I guess it was a 2 litre and

maybe it was a 1.9 in the UK at that at those years.

I'm not certain I am surprised. So for for reference, I went to

New Zealand twice and never came over.

And everybody in Australia who watches the show is like, I can't believe you keep going over there and not coming over here. And now that we're here, the

people in the Commons are like, why aren't you in Sydney?

Yeah, yeah, well, you came straight to Melbourne and I'm like 1. I don't want to be just another

American who comes to Australia and just goes to Sydney and doesn't do anything else. Doing that by the way, because.

Of course, because this, you know, Melbourne feels like Philadelphia to me. And I mean that in a kind, kind

way, like you were talking about before, like, oh, like what were you doing? Like, Like the Melbourne is a

rough no, I'm not saying it's a rougher town, but there's more of an attitude. To it.

Look, I'm going basically off some of the comments that I've seen in, you know, in response to, you know, when you've announced that you're going to Melbourne instead of Sydney, a lot of people are like, why are you going to Melbourne?

Everybody's rude down there. I'm like, sure, but that's.

Well, to to add to that, I think we I think with a nicer place over Sydney and there's, I don't know if I kind of told you, I don't know about there's a, there's a, there is a beef.

Between Melbourne and Sydney. Oh, and it will go.

It will continue until the sunburns.

Yeah, Sunburn. Yeah, Palmy versus Palmer,

that's a big one. Yeah.

Yeah, and that's just that's just beginning.

We're not beginning to football coach I.

Think it might have something to do with the fact that we've held the title of most livable city for longer than than they have, if they ever held it. Like we're not even, we're not

even the first, the first city that people think of when they think of Australia. And yet we.

Liverpool. I'm more Liverpool than Sydney

and I tell you what, I've been there enough times as a truck driver by trade. I've gone to Sydney enough

times. I've seen the good parts and

then I've seen the really dilapidated parts like.

There's a lot of dominated parts, that's for sure.

Oh. We're all into much class here.

Absolutely, absolutely. It's classier just about

everywhere. Like there's no part of it that

seems to be like, there's no part of it where you can tell that money clearly hasn't been spent, where it's supposed to be spent, where you go to Sydney and it's like.

The bridge this. Is a There's a major highway

that goes that goes through home Bush where there's just cracks in the, like, cracks in the concrete everywhere and just a whole lot of unoccupied blocks, Yeah.

That sounds like New York City to me.

You drive in you. You need one of your Hiluxes

here to drive in and those buses go into New York City, even either over the Verrazano Narrows Bridge there.

There's two major ways to get into and, and of course, for for people who are listening and like, I don't want to have this turn into it like like an American versus all like which cities represent each other. I'm gathering that Sydney is the

New York City of it's like the the the city that everybody else knows. Correct.

Yeah. That, that, that would be

definitely like, yeah. Whereas like just South and I'm

making this correlation that that Melbourne is almost to Philadelphia of Australia because it's South.

Although although the East Coast of US, the East Coast for a driver because this is a car show for for a driver every major city on the East Coast of the US is usually two to three hours apart. Not freaking that you guys have

10 hours from where I live. And because this is all like the

people who said of the East Coast US is all, you know, the English, German, Lithuanian. So everything's crammed together

up there like Europe. So from where I live, 3 hours

I'm in in New York City, two hours I'm in, I'm in.

I'm in Philly, the three hours I'm in or three hours, I'm in Baltimore, 3 1/2 hours, Washington DC, all that stuff, 6 hours to Boston. So and it's all along this 95

corridor. But when you hit New York City,

it's they can, they cannot repair the roads fast enough for them to just get destroyed again.

Why is that? Is that, is that just because of

like the amount of like food traffic that gets through there?

Or is it just like? Or is it just they're just

patching it up to? To oh, yeah, I, I felt at home

when I, when we're driving around Melbourne, I see the big steel plates that are just bolted in the ground.

I'm like, OK, I know that. I've seen that before.

Yeah. That that's a lot New York York

City. It's so tough to repair the

streets because it's just so congested all the time.

You you close one St you've ruined a lot of stuff for for a while, especially because you have all these.

They keep trying to make man the island of Manhattan car usable and it really it shouldn't be. There should be parts like that.

There was always talk of, you know, Times Square of just having that closed traffic. The problem with New York City

for drivers is New York City doesn't have alleyways there.

Excuse me, The island of Manhattan doesn't have alleyways. The the, the row houses in the

blocks are just smushed, right? There are some alleyways like

those the Joker steps, if you saw that movie, there were over like one or two or three actual alleyways that the the houses just stopped. So all deliveries, all trash

removal, everything happens in front of the businesses.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

So. Sort of stink.

Oh, New York City stinks it it does have an odour and you also have two rivers. So you get the fish smell, you

get the the the detritus in there mixed with a type of the wind can't really blow through. I I don't want to have this turn

into another new city podcast, like every comedy podcast I listen to. But yeah.

And also driving in New York City is an exercise in madness because there's markings on the road, but they're all worn out.

And the to see big American boats weaving in the in between each other because, you know, for the longest time, the New York City taxi cab was Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. And the oh, and this is this is

a fun. This would be a car to import to

Australia and blow people's minds.

Which is really, it's a really long car, like it's a.

Oh yeah, you're. You're what do you reckon's the

longest car we've ever made or the longest car that's on our Rd. Like Australian made car.

Australian made car I. Think it was like a DALTD

Fairline that era that was that was a pretty that was the longest Fairline L Ltd they made.

Yeah, and the only challenger for that would probably be the WM Statesman. Yeah, the Caprice, they're a big

car. Yeah.

And then the executive L would probably easily have another foot on that, wouldn't it? Yeah, OK.

I think let's see it it the Chrysler Imperial from the late 60s or the Cadillac Series 59 or Series 62.

Both were about 20 feet long, which is 6.1 metres in length.

Yeah, yeah. Most of that, most of most of

that was hood or bonnet and trunk.

I drive back home in 1963 Ford Galaxy which is 17 1/2 feet long, which in metres is less than six.

So 17.5 feet is 5.33 metres in length and most of it is hood

and trunk. The trunk is longer than the

hood and it can hold. Mass.

I'm. From American after a little

things because somehow we like the English in a little weird way. Let's see.

It can hold. Oh wait, that's feet.

You guys talk about something. I got to do this math.

I was just, all I was going to say was here I am thinking that I've got it bad when I have to drive a semi trailer into the Into Melbourne CBD. OK, the usable, the usable

weight that I had that I, I can load 454 kilogrammes into the car and not hit the bump stops in the Galaxy.

So and that's six people in usually 6 people inside the car including myself and a trunk full of gear is.

There three and three, right? Like the Yeah bench seat?

Seats you could pay more to have less people in it yeah, that's and have the. You have the.

Sporty, sporty versions where they move the shifter from the column to the centre console. Oh, it's still an automatic, you

know, you could get though they did make like, oh, here's the fun thing about the Ford Galaxy from the 60s.

We, they did make racing versions of these things and you can see them if you look up on YouTube, the Thunderbolt.

We can talk about the Thunderbolt.

We think we talked about the Thunderbolt or was someone else maybe The Thunderbolt is not the gap, not the full size Ford platform. It's the mid size, which is a

Fairlane, which is in America was a was a lengthened version of our Falcon. Yeah, we unfortunately lost the

Falcon in 1960. 9. It ended.

And then it continued and it became this wonderful vehicle that I'm in love with every time I'm here.

I hope you will get good news, Maddow from because you have a what? I have a 2010 F6 Ute.

Oh, nice. Yeah, cool.

Yeah, so. It's not got the best version of

the of the six cylinder that unfortunately died, you know, in the States, but continued down here.

It's probably got the second best, Yeah, the Barra 310.

Because it was the 325T which was in the Sprint, yeah.

When we took my Falcon apart, which was in 1960, which is what you called the. XM Would that be in or even?

I have the first year X. KXK OK.

Yeah. When I, when we took that apart,

most of the suspension parts that made in Australia on it, even though you got it in 61, we got it in 60.

They were already making it here and then shipping the parts all the way overseas to the United States.

Yeah. So what what's crazy is like,

and I don't know if you many people know this, but like the the Mustang and the Falcon, obviously you know, like.

The first Gen Falcon is a Mustang.

Yeah, correct. Yeah, like a lot of all the way

up to XF, like a lot of paths are interchangeable between a Mustang and A and a Falcon. It's like I can't confirm that

but I've looked underneath an XF and they look very.

Similar. Yeah.

Well one of the guys that comes in to show you normally he he had a 65 Mustang and it had all XF front end in it.

Yeah, nice. We saw a Gen 1 Mustang today.

We did. Where were we?

Back we were in Elfham, we were heading out to we were.

We were heading out to our filming location which we.

I'm trying to. Because we're on air right now,

we're going to not say where we're going to be because we don't want people showing up. But but.

It's out in the yeah, it's a nice little location out in the in the Northeast. Where we can get nice sweeping

shots and it's going to look very nice and pretty.

Yeah, well, we can talk about the two the two cars we did today and I'm fine with spoiling IT11I It's going to be 2040 until this is legal to import to the United States because we have a 25 year rule. Yankees like myself are driving

up prices of Nissan Skyline all the way, all the way.

There are people in, you know, in Japan who are just just putting them in warehouses because they know, you know, rich tech guys, the US are going to pay 50 to 8.

Some of these R34 GTRS are selling for six.

Figures. Absolutely.

Yeah, it's insane. So what we drove today was a

2017 Nissan or Honda N box. Cool.

Yeah, that was. Now, so, so David Prince over

here, he's got he's got an one Rs like a like AK car like that.

So he knows all. That's his wheelhouse.

Awesome. We put five people in that and I

rode in the I, I rode in the cargo area and it rode on its bump stops because we all go had to go to the bathroom.

We had to go find some public bathroom.

It was making some noise. I found it the torque to be

quite nice, but the torque on that 660 three cylinder with the turbo to me felt very masculine up to 1/3 throttle and then you'd press your foot down anymore and the car's like I don't want to. It's just travelling.

It's in a Tokyo person that doesn't need to go any faster than that. Yeah.

And then you're right, you know, so.

So David and I were in Japan last year that we we went together and it like I was just enamoured by these, these K cars. And then we went to a Honda

dealership and looked at looked at an actual inbox and in van, I think we looked at as well. And then he's like, I'm gonna

get a I'm gonna get an N1 Rs and it's got like a manual 660 turbo. And it's, it's super freaking

cool. Like it's, yeah, it's it's

definitely the coolest car that that I've I've said this, I support the coolest car I've. Driven.

Oh, big cool, big cool. It's a big cool, but it's it's

it's definitely a worthy call. And and the 660 is just so fun.

Like it's just it's just a funny losing yeah, three cylinder.

What are the rules for importing cars here in Australia?

It's it's. Interesting.

Yeah, so. Here we go.

How long have you got like? Yeah, yeah.

What, what we, what I learned in New Zealand is their rules are you can import something if it's significant or something that you can't get OK in NZ. Do you call it NZ or just say

New Zealand? Yeah, NZ, yeah, I mean like we

had different laws here because we still had industry and like the the laws regarding, you know, trying to protect inverted Commons, the industry drove the prices up like that, you know, of other cars. But since that's been, you know,

finished, it's almost been 10 years since since the since Toyota pulled out and Holden, Ford, even Mitsubishi pulled out earlier than that. They, we haven't had a industry

to, to protect, right. So they've, they've kind of

allowed a few years ago they, they relaxed it so you could bring, you could bring new things in, you know, like, like his. 4 categories now. So basically you have rarity,

environmental performance, and I think you know, disabled converted vehicles. Like that's a huge industry in

Japan. Well kept with for wheelchair

access and things like that. So it used to be you had to

satisfy two or three of five requirements.

Now you'll have to satisfy one of four.

Oh OK, that sounds too bad. So.

You actually have to get the car on the on the register called the sports and enthusiast vehicle scheme register, the SEVS register and then the car has to be brought in and tested to make sure it can comply. And then yeah, it, it goes on

and on. And then, but yeah, it has

opened up, as Maddie said, since manufacturing stopped in Australia, thankfully. Yeah, absolutely.

And it's and you know it's allowed for cars like, you know, the N1 Rs and and you know the inbox and van and stuff to to, to, to come to Australia. And now they're trying to trying

to stop at something that because of safety regulations because. We are getting that right now

with the K vans, the little K trucks in the K ran.

So now this is me being a conspiracy.

Conspiracy away. We love it.

Some senators and politicians in smaller farming states, mostly New England, where the farms are smaller, have tried to and some successfully sort of de concentrate or remove registrations and not allow any new registrations of like small Japanese trucks of which they include the Mitsubishi Delica on on the big. Delica or the 660 delica?

Oh, the big one. Oh my goodness.

Yeah, on the idea is that these are not safe and they do not make meet US safety regulations. And because the United States

has this, this tug of war between who's really in charge of state governments or the fellow government, I think it's more of a lobbying, lobbying campaign from John Deere, who makes tractors. Yeah.

And Polaris, who makes those? Snowmobiles and stuff, right?

Yeah, they make that and they also make Utvs these sort of like farm type vehicles. Yeah, with the little with the

four Wheelers. Yeah, yeah, with the and have

the the the tray on the back. Yeah, like you can call it a

side by side or a UTV or RTV. Polaris, I think it's one of

those big branches, isn't it? Yeah.

Yeah, Polaris, Ranger and you know, whatever the sporty 1 is, but that's not really a work vehicle.

It's more of a play thing. Yeah, they have the fancy wheels

on them and stuff and sound systems, but they're not street legal. And but they're $20,000 and in

the US you can get AK Truck for like 7 or 8 grand.

So what? And this thing is street legal.

It's got air conditioning. It does everything.

And by the way, it's made in Japan.

Yeah. So it's going to keep running.

So that's my and that's probably not true, but you know.

I can add something that might give some credence to this story is there's, I can't remember the location, but there is a mob somewhere in Australia that is making Ute conversions to the Suzuki chimney. There is, yeah.

And there are farms that are just buying a heap of Suzuki chimneys instead of these regular, like your Polaris Ranger or boat or RTV, for example.

I mean, you know, what are you complaining about when you've got a road vehicle with air conditioning and stereo system that also has a tiny little bed in the back and can fit around, like, inside most of the gates? Yeah, you know.

Yeah. Like it makes perfect sense.

Tiny little oil philtre. Oh yeah, it's an actual car.

Doesn't have a silly little CVT in there.

It's manual transmissions. Not fine.

It's most of the chimneys that you've seen so far are the sort of the wide track ones. They've got the the big black

plastic wheel guards on them. So that has a wide stance, but

you can actually get a narrower version of that.

Don't think they call it anything different necessarily.

It's just a narrow version of the Suzuki Jimney.

So it's almost as narrow as the inbox.

It's actually a page of using it, David.

It's a cake, nice and like and it's got a smaller engine and and. OK.

So they'll be coming in under the same sort of conditions as all the. Yeah.

Well, yeah, if, but do you think that'd allow that, David, because of? I think that's one of the ones

that has been canned, which is from that would, it's to do with one of the changes to the Australian regulations as far as crash safety which came out in October 2021.

So anything prior to that you can still bring in, but but yeah, the the ones without the, the the wheel arch extensions are 660 CC. So the the ones that were

delivered locally here are the 1.5, which does make a lot more

sense if you yeah, but but yeah, there are a few of the KS that are filled in before the rules change sort of thing.

But I don't think you can bring it AK1 into Australia now.

Which is, yeah, which which is interesting.

But having said that, like seeing a few more K cars on the road, I don't know if that's probably the only one you've seen so far in Australia, but they they are around and you, you do see them and there's they're getting more prevalent.

But hopefully they don't ban them all because there was a there was a big thing. I like seeing modern high places

there. Those are nice.

Modern high cases are cool. Yeah, yeah.

Like I saw that we briefly in the US got a version of the light ace in the 80s. They just called it the Toyota

van. All right.

And you, Maddow, have, I think, a matchbox or a Hot Wheels version of that hanging on the wall somewhere.

Yeah, yeah. It's the sort of spaceship

looking thing, the narrow from the quad headlights and stuff like that. We call that a Toyota Tarago.

That was the first to have the Tarago name plate on it.

Interesting. Yeah.

Yeah. So, yeah, one of one of the guys

on the show, he's not here tonight.

He has one of those like with the square, square headlights.

Yeah, it's a manual. It's it's yeah.

It's really awesome. Yeah.

So yeah, the Tarago was the passenger carrying version of the Toyota van. OK.

Yeah, Yeah. We didn't get any sort of cargo

like that. And Toyota, until they had the

Sienna, really didn't have anything to work in the US.

They had the Previa, which you have of the the real version outside right there, I thought. That's Chad's one there, which

is also called a Tarago here, so they kept the Tarago name consistent. Nice, yeah.

Yeah, you're, you're an, you're a former English teacher, I believe. Yes, yes.

So it was an English teacher in the late 2000s and early into the teens. It was the last real job I had.

Well, first of all, the, the, the late Mark versions of the Mini, the Mark 6 and the Mark 7 are still one of the greatest cars I've ever driven. And I've driven a Toyota LFA.

So yeah. And I think I'd rather be in a

Mini because there is this savage nature to it, and also because it had to learn to survive in in Great Britain and and. Get.

Drive on roads that were mediaeval oxcart pass and actually make a good make time doing it versus over in our two countries. Cars were allowed to like

goldfish in a bowl, you know build to a larger size and do things that that that culture in the UK can I I I will be very kind to UK car culture. A lot of it was parking and

posing and and I don't say that that people in the UK don't drive their question. Obviously they do in motorcycle

culture is is fantastic. But I've noticed even even we in

in in the foul in the in the older Falcon got looks and I think there was someone who said nice to us when we made a turn.

Do you remember that? That was yesterday.

That must have been the I have a recollection of.

He must have been the same guy that had because he said this.

He said the same thing that he used to drive one back in the day as a taxi cab. Was that the guy that you're

have I was mentioning before the show, we had a a Fairmont XF Fairmont which got nicked. It was a very long time ago, but

you know, but we used to see them everywhere.

Like there was a time when those cars were everywhere, like, Oh yeah. You know, and, and I think a few

of us can on the show can attest to this at that, you know, some of the some of the cars we saw 20 years ago, you know, we just don't see as much anymore. So like to see when that's

actually really nice. And yeah, in decent condition.

especially the waggons because yeah, they were.

Whatever reason, they got trashed, abused and the and the sedan survived. Well, I think the way is because

I was more of a family hauler. Like they just, they just got,

the Falcons were getting abused in the states that, you know, demolition derbies and monster truck rallies because don't worry about it, We're saving the Mustang anyway.

and the Falcons, the, the only really classic Fords that survived are the convertibles because they were kept inside anyway because they didn't want to get rained in.

So they were bought by people who owned houses and had garage and the things lived inside versus the waggons, you don't see sedans. Maybe a little bit more briefly,

we did have the Ute yeah, yeah, they called it the Yep, they called the Ranchero. And then they try to get every

now and then a car company tries to sell a Ute to Americans and it fails every single time. And now Hyundai is doing it

again. They're going to try with the

Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz, yeah.

a complete commercial failure. And then Chevy tried to do it

with the Chevy Avalanche. That was a Ute and I love that

thing because it came with a 8.1 litre in that thing and nose

He's like roadkill knows about him, won't work with him because Matt Happel is like Yoda. He will tune your car if he

around the time Opal sort of was set for resurgence and didn't last, didn't last the year. They actually pulled the pin on

Opal after nine months, I think. And I think it was sort of

around the time there was quite a bit of flux going on.

wall internally. And Holden and they just

So Speaking of Australian cars, well what is your thought in Australian cars and and if you had to pick some, what would you take back to the? USI would take.

Because it's like, oh, it feels like a Corvette, but honestly it handles better and I can use it for stuff.

So, yeah, so in Australia, the early ones that were underneath the car, you had a big boot and the later ones they had to change for regulations and then they put them.

It was a great cruiser. It was something that could

just. Hold at a. 100 miles an hour,

just all day, every day. At the end, you just did not

care. The thing about Corvettes and we

saw a Corvette today. It was a we did, yeah.

It was a pre facelift Chrome bumper rolling around this place where we were filming. I gave him a thumbs up and but

the thing about Corvettes is that they're never they don't ride well that they are I I understand them.

They are a great value. They're a great performance, but

they are made for unimaginative old men who who just want They aren't there's there's nothing exclusive about.

That the people, they say, Oh no, my car was built on a Tuesday with they're built for that guy.

Like I would the the we were trying to.

There are nice there are nice Corvettes and C6ZO6 or ZO6 that thing that the the big engine, all motor, 505 horsepower, no turbo, no anything, no supercharger.

The thing just just pulls all day long.

Those things ride very well and they can do stuff on the track.

Your average one and then then the Z06Z06 Z 006.

That's nice with with the supercharger, but your average one. They honestly are just beater

cars that that that that people have elevated to be this ultimate pinnacle of achievement.

And then you get into, you know, an MR2 is better than a Corvette. It the honestly this thing is

made to handle. But people what I think some of

these these these old these old cul de SAC men in the United States want, they just want mid power for them to roll up to. 75

miles an hour. Wow.

And then roll back down again and just sort of do that yo yo rubber band thing all day long. That's who buys these things.

And then they go to try to sell them to other old men and they all have an arm folding competition on Facebook marketplace to see who budges first.

I mean, there was another YouTube out there of of Ed Bowling when he says he tried to do a project with a Corvette and he says the worst buying experience I've ever had with anyone because the all of them don't want to pay the price and they don't want to accept the a reasonable price.

Yeah. Yeah.

So the only way I I say buying a Corvette in the US is like trying to buy a house. You have to wait for the man

inside to die. Yeah.

Yeah, it's interesting. Putting it bluntly, yeah.

I mean, there's a few like there's a few Corvettes in Australia and there's and they're actually selling the the current Gen. You can buy it like brand new

hood which only got longer in the past, like like maybe 7980 when they put that fibreglass nose on the front to try to make, to try to make grandpa look modern because the the the C3 Corvette was 1960. It's 68. 68 to 81, yeah, they

kept that thing running. Yeah, I have a tangent.

Another thing about Australian card culture that you didn't really have in the laser where our like in 1971.

like it did US where it. Kind of did, like the cars

weren't as powerful. We had the the horsepower scare

Mustang had a had a live rear axle up until the the S550 and then finally got in a new. Edge, right, like if you if you

pig was offset. So you take two of them, put the

short, short axles on it and moves it to the centre.

And now you can take that 8.8 rear and put it in Mustangs or

Now the problem is with my Falcon is there's so little Falcon left and then we were done.

Because, you know, once you change one thing on cars in the 60s, yeah, you need a bigger engine.

Now you need a better transmission.

Now that drive shaft is going to split in half.

You need a bigger one of those. You need a bigger rear end.

So our drive shaft would just rub in the drive shaft tunnel.

Ended up selling it to the person who won my auction on was in a kind of wealthier area of Philadelphia called Kennett Square. And this was a individual who

But the the thing that I love so much about Mark 6 and Mark 7 minis with the fuel injection and really all of them, the answer to how fast can I take this corner?

It'll go around other now to the complete other end of the I've mentioned before the Lexus LFA, the ultimate nerds car is this was a very nice person in the tech industry who let me drive it, who who kept it outside. It was filled with hamburger

That's what it's made for. Just do it.

And I'm like, I'm driving on these winding roads in, you know, the Napa Valley of California.

The idea that I'm at this guy's house and, and, and, and driving this car was, was, I mean, it still brought another smile.

And the other car that also brought a big smile on my face that we don't get, well, it's, it's a JDM car and it's also a Toyota is the sentry. And that happened on a day it

was in windy Wellington. And we were I've it was my first

experience with wind there. It was so windy it blew.

And like here in Melbourne, I was grossly underdressed.

One of those little things because it has the Beat engine and my friend Veronica and her girlfriend Kit know how to work on one because they just bought a Honda Beat that the engine was blown, blown up on and the and the main bearings were spun and they were there. I was just watching their video

last night how they were getting the main bearings that how they're getting the the crank bearings out by taking a Cotter pin and you hammer the end, stick it in the oil passage and then turn the engine because it slightly hit.

So you turn the engine and it pushes its main bearing out and you and it just comes out. And there's also like they, they

were geeking out about that. Toyota thought about one of the

bolts that goes in. They made a little kind of a

cooby hole or something. So you could move the bearing.

You could like slide it in in here into the frame and then push it through. So you don't have to take any.

You don't have to drop the engine to get this one bolt.

And we thought of you. It's putting it in, Yeah.

So the Japanese really think about the the mechanic that's going to work, yeah. Oh yeah, absolutely.

I can say that as a as a former Toyota, yeah, actually they were the easiest things to work. Absolutely, because I actually

care for like the engineers and the mechanics talk to each other, whereas in Germany they don't.

I think the way we're doing it, because I go to my when I have car meets, they feel completely different than other car meets.

So some of the stuff that you like you maybe it's probably a little bit nicer here and in New Zealand, but in the US it's still very much a masculine thing when you go to a car show.
