Welcome to Driving While Awesome. My name is Lane.

And I'm Art.

And we are warren-less, wham-less once again. He is in Japan still. And I just actually saw a bunch of stories. He's a story post in Fool. I don't know if you saw the art. He's like kind of all over the place. He's definitely making the most out of this trip, it looks like.

Yeah, yeah, I got some restaurant stuff. We got some kids stuff. We got a visit to Clark and all the things.

Yeah. And then it looks like they took a train. Maybe packed their bags, took a train somewhere. They're staying at some onsen.

Well, how do you feel about those like Ryokan onsen places in Japan?

I love them. I know you hate the food.

It's just so, like for the most part, like the whole Ryokan experience is like, it's very serene. It's like super peaceful and relaxing and like, you know, depending on where you go, like some are a little more high end and some are more rustic, but like the whole idea is like, it's just like, just eliminate all barriers.

Everything is smooth and easy and just relaxing, peaceful, and I can appreciate that, you know, once in a while.

It's your dream, dude. It's like a crew being on a cruise, dude. It's been on a wooden. It's like a relax on a wooden relaxing cruise that was built in 1990 or or in the 1600s, depending on where you go, right?

So the oldest, I think I don't know if it's the oldest hotel or the oldest business in the world is one of these Ryokans.

Oh, really?

Yeah. And it's from like the 12th century or something crazy. Yeah. And it's the same family, you know, like for however many generations that is.

Damn. Okay. That's cool.

But yeah, I did see that. I sent them some tips and tricks. I don't know, like if you had a chance to check them out, but it was mostly around like some kind of my little secret scale model kind of shops to visit.

And then a couple of other ideas. Unfortunately, the two like big car things that existed in Tokyo when I was going there back in the day are now closed.

One of them was Toyota Mega Web, which was in Odaiba in that island in the center of Tokyo Bay. And it was a Toyota Museum, but also they had

all sorts of fun interactive exhibits. And it wasn't just exclusively Toyota. It was like talking. It was like automotive history and heritage. And

they would have like pop up events and rallies that would kick off their car shows, all kinds of cool shit. But unfortunately, that's not there.

The other one too is the Tokyo, I'm sorry, the Honda showroom. It was like the welcome showroom they used to call it in Aoyama.

And that was a pretty rad space too, because it was free to enter and they always had like a bunch of cool shit on display, just like

almost like a mini museum kind of vibe.

And it could be, you never knew, like you can show up and it would be like a Formula One car from who knows any era, or it could be

the type R line or whatever they wanted to celebrate or as technology, it could be not necessarily automotive centric. Sometimes it was

like some crazy elaborate pump system that they were developing for distributing water in Africa. Who knows, right? So like there's all sorts of

stuff. So yeah, that is now closed as of spring of this year.

Because they're relocating their HQ in Tokyo proper. So

but yeah, that's a, so I was going to suggest all of those, none of those are available.

So I suggested some alternatives. Going to the Tamiya, the showroom is really cool. They have some interactive stuff there.

But yeah, and there's some other little, like kind of boutique kind of car shops with like

merchant memorabilia that are cool. Because I think he already was going to

Tsutaya bookstore in Daikanyama from what I recall, but

I don't know if he ended up going. Yeah, hopefully he hit it, right? There hasn't been a car in there the last couple times I've been there.

Yeah, there wasn't either. Yeah, I missed Sun Kang's

the 240Z that was there like a week, like pulled out a week before I got there. So I missed that, but

yeah. Yeah, when I hung out with the built by legends guys, they were going to bring a car there.

I think actually maybe it is there right now. Maybe he scored that one. But yeah, I was supposed,

they were supposed to bring a car there and do like a little kind of

I don't know, sweet party kind of thing, whatever. They're pretty stoked on it though. Nice.

Stoked. Well yeah, well when he's in, when Warren's in Japan, arts in San Diego,

you're just doing the Legoland thing. I saw you at Disney. Yeah, we're doing the fam thing. Yeah,

this has become a tradition now during Thanksgiving. We come down here, everybody congregates.

We do a couple of things. We're going to actually get for the first time ever, we're going to do

the safari. Have you done that? Oh no, but I've heard that that's supposed to be really cool,

right? Yeah. Yeah. I'm excited to check it out. I've done the one in Santa Rosa, which is rad.

You sit in like a power wagon that is converted to like, you know, to carry a bunch of people on

top and, you know, you just drive through all these sort of, you know, for lack of better term

exhibits, but there's probably a better term there because you're kind of in their space, right?

And yeah, it's very cool. Isn't there one in like Salinas or something or Gilroy?

I don't know. I think you could stay in the hotels or something. We did the one in

Santa Rosa where you do the glamping on Santa Rosa. Oh, maybe that's Santa,

maybe that's the one I'm thinking of. Yeah. What are those even called like safaris or

something? Yeah, I think it's Santa Rosa safari or something. Yeah. And you can spend the night

there in these yurts or little glamp sites and you get the whole experience of like hearing

all the animals at night, you know, that whole thing. Yeah, but no, I'm tripping, dude, because I

thought there was one. Oh, Salinas has one. Okay. Vision, Vision Quest Ranch.

They have lions. That sounds like you have to do peyote though. Dude, right? Yeah, they have like

lions and they have a combination as well, like tank cabins or cabins. And then they have like

rhinos and all kinds of stuff. Interesting. Do you get to cruise around in a car? Like a cool

I believe so. I believe so. There's like tour, sea tours right now. This is so weird that we

live like in this area. I've never been to any of this shit. So yeah, I guess you could it looks

like you drive through by yourself at this one. Like there's a design. It looks like there's an

actual hmm from the picture. It doesn't even look that cool actually. It looks more like a zoo

that you drive through. Oh yeah. It's like a pave. They show like a paved road. Oh, that's

a week. Yeah, I've seen, I did a bear experience like that in outside of Yellowstone when we went

there like 2019, I think. And that place is like that. You drive your own car through a designated

like paved road and there are sort of an, what's the word I'm looking for? There's like a,

not in camp, there's a very specific term that I can't think of right now. It's

whatever the space is for the animals. Enclosures. Yeah. And so you go and you see them on either

side and it's all different types of bear, which is, yeah, entertaining. Yeah. This looks like

it's kind of open in a lot of areas. There is some enclosures, but it looks like it's more like

horse area for horses and stuff. And then there's a bunch of like fields and stuff. I

imagine that's where the animals are. But yeah, it's kind of a bummer that they would pave

the road. I feel like, oh, but back in the, it looks like in the distance, I see some unpaved roads.

I don't know, whatever. That's cool. You guys are going to see that. We'll hear about that next

week. Yeah, we'll see. I'll full play by play. It'll be all about mostly, I'll try to

incorporate the cars. Hopefully we have a cool rig, whether it be a Defender or a

fucking Land Cruiser or who knows what. Yeah, dude. So you've been up to some stuff.

You stopped by my neck of the woods on the way down to something fast hundred or Porsche

9 11's going fast on a Saturday. Dude, now you're saying all that. I'm like, wait, what is it called?

Cause there's, there is an event called slow Sunday. Oh, that's, that's a Justin,

Justin boss hog. Oh yeah. So he's slow Sunday. This is fast Saturday. Fast Saturday. What is

Friday's just cruising or what? Friday's chillax Friday's. Yeah. I don't know. So fast Friday's.

Yeah. So I anyways, I cruise, I cruise the 9 11 down to your neck of the woods, Santa Barbara

from Santa Cruz, like little under a four hour drive, I would say, like a three and a half hour

drive, I guess. And it was pouring rain the whole way down. Carded great. I picked it

up that morning from B line where I got the starter replaced with a high torque starter.

Oh yeah. How torque is it? It's so torquey. Actually, it's a totally different feel, dude.

It's like I thought it would be more like Ferrari starter, like V 12 starter or like

9 28 or something like that, where it's that fast. I love those starters. Like

it's weird to say you could love how a starter sounds, but it's like, I know exactly

and it's your initial interaction with a car, right? It's like your first interaction with

like turning a car running. So like I always love the 9 28 and I love hearing like

small displacement V 8 or V 12 Ferrari starters, like how fast they are and cool they sound.

Yeah. This one, I thought it would be a little faster like that. I feel like my last ones were

this one's like torquey or that makes sense. And it's high torque. It almost feels like a V

8 or something, dude. It's like you can like feel the starter like boom, boom, boom. It's like very

strong feeling to strong like bull. Yeah, strong like bull. And it's like billet. I guess I

didn't see it, but I guess it's like billet and clay. Oh, you know, it's the funniest thing.

I went to pick up like Philip, you know, was there at B line and he's like he pronounced

billet billet. Oh, all right. He said billet and it's in a billet housing. You're like what?

Yeah. I mean, his last name is demonet. Yeah. So he is French. So it kind of makes sense. Maybe

it is pronounced that way in French. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe in French, but I don't know. We're in

America, right? Dude, you're right. Yeah. So I cruise down met up with our buddy. We met up

with our friend, Colin. Yeah. Colin M Hill. I believe there's an M in there. And then he and I

cruise down the next day on Friday to San Juan Capistrano. So the OC, dude. Yeah. Orange County.

And we stayed in Dana Point, the harbor in Dana Point, bro. Actually Dana points like

very not bro, right? It's like old conservatives. Yeah. I guess I isn't San Dimas around there or

something. No, San Dimas is in the valley. Oh, dude. I'm picturing. Oh, I'm thinking of

Point Break. Maybe that's why. Yeah. Yeah. So we stayed there. No, this is like there's like

in the harbor. There's like a bunch of American flags, like Trump flags and stuff like that.

It's really cool. But yeah, we went to this cool place called the, so the show is that the,

so we went to the swaner house. We met up with Aaron from what is from Fast Saturdays,

which is the event that was happening Saturday. We went with Aaron, who is California 912 on

Instagram. He's the guy with the ratty blue 912 surfboards on it and videoing him and his

family all the time, his kid and stuff. Met up with him and just kind of like Colin was supposed

to help the next day like cure, like parking and stuff for this thing. It's kind of just a

cars and coffee, but it's become more of a thing because they got, he did some like sponsorship

with Porsche for this one. So I would think Porsche or someone had to, you know, took,

you know, paid the bill for renting this venue because the venue is like very nice. It's a wedding

venue. So when we were there on Friday, it's like people getting tours of the venue being like,

here's where you're going to get married. You know, here, you know, and then there was people

having like engagement photos taken and it's a cool, just like an old house and a water tower

and like kind of an old farm, right? And a bunch of orange trees and stuff. It's kind of

pretty. Yeah. So I would imagine the venue is banky, but yeah, it was just like set up

like a cars and coffee. So it was the next day. It was like nine air cooled Porsche basically,

kind of like a lift, but cars and coffee style. So just show up and get parked.

What if you show up in a 996? What happens? So there wasn't some 996 is and there was

some 997. There was some other stuff and they still got parked. It wasn't like,

but they weren't, they weren't like on the main grass, I would say, but I wasn't on the main grass

either because it was like celebrating 60 years of the 912. Oh, I see. Yeah. You know, the grand

celebration of the 912. So yeah, there was like, I don't know, dude. There was a lot of cars,

dude. I'd say like over 200 cars, sweet, probably 250 cars maybe showed up. And then there

was tons of stuff. Like there was 355 on the street, Tesla Roadster on the street.

There was a Integra Type R, which I posted a Radwood. There was like a bunch of cool shit.

And then a bunch of modern, like air cooled, water cooled stuff, like,

but tons of 912s, tons of long hoods. There's a 944. There's some 944, a couple, like only

two 914s, I think, or one maybe that I saw. But yeah, I went to this thing on, oh, so anyways,

kind of like got the rundown the night before, helped load that 356 with the stained glass windows.

Oh yeah. I don't know if you saw that thing. It's on casters, right? Yeah, it was on casters.

And then we, it was on casters and we picked it up and physically moved it,

like five of us or something. And it was burned in the fires. And that's how they got it.

Supposedly it was like cherry before, like it was part of some guy's collection.

And like the roofs all caved in and stuff. So we moved that. And then we all went to dinner

and it was like Colin, Aaron, and then met up with Nicole Johnson Off-Road. Do you know

where that is? I don't think so. Nicole, her Instagram, Nicole Johnson Off-Road. Nicole

Johnson, she has a, I think it's a, it's like a 915. It might be an SC or an early career.

Oh, wait a minute. I do, I do, yeah, she was on the NTST. Yeah, she, doesn't she? Yeah,

she was, she's been on TST a couple of times. Now, now I remember. Yeah, she's got the

SC with like the, it's almost like a gradient stripe on the back, right? Like it's kind of like,

not gradient, but like Toyota racing stripe. Yeah, got an angle, right? Yeah. Yeah, and an angle.

And then she, so she went to dinner with us. She was there. This guy, Bill Wolfson,

he's 911 journey. He has a cool like long hood that we've seen a lot, but he bought

like a year ago. Okay. I think he lives out in, I forget, Colorado, maybe, or Utah.

And all these people came out specifically just for this event.

Yeah. So they were there the night before like helping set up kind of ish. So that's when I met them.

And then Michael Gideon, I don't know if you know that is the guy who does those. He's

a, he lives in Ventura and he does those like parody videos and he does like Porsche or it's

PCA. So it's project cars anonymous. Yeah. So we were supposed to actually drive down there

with him, but he got stuck with like family stuff or something. So he met us down there.

And then I think that was it. But yeah, we all went to dinner that night. The cool thing is I was

sitting next to Nicole and she ended up getting a hotel where we got our hotel to. So we all

kind of commuted back and forth together. But dude, she used to be, she was like,

no, I'm fucking not remembering it, but she did the monster jams, dude. So she did like,

she was like the first female monster jam driver or something like that. And she was the first one

in some specific truck that was very popular. But we're kind of talking about that because

remember Warren had talked about going to the monster jam. Oh no, sorry, Dante went, I think.

And I was kind of like, you know, just wondering how it worked and everything like that.

And she said she like got rep, reprimanded after her first time because she won like three events

and they're like, Hey, you're not allowed to win. What those basically because it's like wwe.

Oh, I see. So it's, you know, you're also kind of, they're like Undertaker was supposed to win

basically. But yeah, it was kind of interesting stuff. And then she was like,

she was like early king of the hammers as well. Nice. Yeah. I remember the monster truck conversation

from the first time she was on and she was on more recently, I think ahead of maybe left or

something. She was doing something in LA and was on TST probably like three, four months ago.

God, that's, that's right. Yeah. So we did that. And then we call and I went home. We

actually went back to the hotel and then he and I went out to a little like bar at the

Yacht Harbor. It's pretty rad. I had some, you know, threw back some cold ones. Nice. And

then the next day we just went to the show and yeah, it was a good, it was a good turnout.

Auto kennel. Oh, we stopped by like Paul's on the way down there.

Auto kennel and went to lunch with him. He's doing great dude. He's like,

so he went to the show the next day and he drove his green car is 911. Look at him.

Yeah. So he can work a clutch now sweet. He can like and he's walking around the whole time.

He had like, he has like, he doesn't have a real cane. He has like a walking,

like a walking stick kind of like one of those collapsible ones. Yeah.

Yeah. But he's killing it. Dude. He's like, he seems like they said he wouldn't walk for

like a year too. And he's just so right dude. I mean, rolling around. Does the driving 911

does the top of his walking stick have like a like a career GT style shift knob that's made of

broken skateboard decks? Is that dude? Unfortunately it doesn't.

It has a BMW weighted shift on M weighted shift. No, ZHP dude. Yeah. You need that weight.

Actually that's a good call dude. Why doesn't he have something to cool? Like, I don't know.

I remember didn't his Walker or something have like Porsche designed Porsche stickers at

Radwood. I don't remember. But yeah, he's he's killing it dude. And then

yeah, we just went to the show all day, hung out, met a couple of DWA fans was cool. Nice.

Yeah. So it's so just as a recap, it's a it's a Porsche

a cars and coffee type experience in a cool venue that is mostly air cooled centric,

but it's other people squeeze it. So is I wonder what the like is it like a there's got to be

some other people were in the know. There's no registration. It's a cars and coffee straight

up. Okay. It's kind of like I would say it's like early left days. It's like but but bigger

too. So that's kind of weird. It's like because there's so much demand for this stuff now

and like the the algorithm is so much, you know, the network is so mature now compared

to when Luft started and you know, 10 years ago or whatever it was that like everyone just

go knows about everything and talks to everyone and every you know, so they like the same people

go to all this stuff. You know, we're like the first looks at like Deus and then the second

one was that I forget the name of the place, but near Petrolicious Dorito brothers. Yeah,

Dorito brothers. It feels like back then it didn't get around as much and people were like,

oh, I don't know what's this thing. Now everyone's just like talking to each other and in the

know and people are traveling and you know it's it's an interesting world dude. Oh,

I met this one cool guy and his wife John Cowell. His name is John Cowell. He was

really stoked that I live in Santa Cruz because Cowell's Beach. Yeah, but him and his wife Michelle

drove like a ratty white 912 and then he has this really cool like I want to say it's like,

I forget what year it is. I guess early 70s, long hood 911, but it's a full it's the first

like full and I'll build. Whoa. Have you seen that thing floating around? I don't know. Yeah,

so it's and I'll like took the car and they put they did a full build on this car back

in period. Whoa. So it's all like in the late 70s or something, you know, when the car was used,

but it was like, it has like a 934 roll, you know, roll cage. It has, you know, all this kind

of like all the parts are like straight race parts. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, it's a pretty

cool car and he was. Oh, he was talking. I saw Brett Cleaver, you know, Brett. Yeah,

now I only know 944 driver and all that kind of stuff. Oh, yeah, yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Any

he worked for Rafa, the bicycle company and yeah, he has a 911 as well, but he was talking to him

and I ran to this and I walk, you know, I saw him. So we were talking and then

he was talking to this dude, John, and John's like, Oh, I like your hat, whatever. I was wearing

a Sam, I am hat, this punk band hat. Dan, that's it. If you know, you know, huh? Dude,

dude, that's a total. If you know, you know, it's a very not that popular band too. So

yeah, we got to talking. He has this rat, his house, actually John's house got burned

during the Palisades fires. I guess it's still standing, but it's like they can't live there.

So he lives, they live up in Malibu and he has this really, they have this really rad

like late 60s, early 70s, mid-century modern house on an acre that they're living in.

That's like insane, like all manicured with a pool like deep in the backyard and all this cool

stuff. But yeah, so he was, we got to talking and then he's like, he's a listener of the

podcast as well. So shout out to John. Shouts out. Very cool. Oh, and I met, I met Trevor

from Perry, Perry podcast. Oh yeah. Yeah. I've heard you were just talking about that dinner.

Yeah. Oh, that's cool. Yeah. Yeah. It's kind of a who's who. I definitely want to connect

with that guy. I mean, he's, I'm pretty close. So we love to sync up with them.

Like, uh, yeah, also have them come out to our SoCal events and stuff. Um, yeah,

but yeah, I mean, this kind of thing, you know, like it sounds like, you know,

for the most part, yeah, the cars are cool. You have some highlights, but it's all about

the mingle, right? It's like, it's, you have the working opportunity, everybody's there,

get them to hang out and connect. And I mean, and we're all in this space, you know, a bunch of,

there's a lot of creatives and just all, you know, a lot of them now it seems have left

like the corporate environment and like, it's like, how do you like, you know, just do cool

kind of interesting projects and cool shit, right? And like, like that's,

that's thriving now, which is super cool. And I love that at the core of it is, you know, it's,

there's, there's car culture and cars as the glue and like it, it really trips me out how,

you know, we travel all over the country, we travel, you know, we travel and we meet people

of all types and, you know, and, you know, we're in the deep south, we're in the east

coast everywhere. And, you know, regardless of what your, you know, philosophy of life is

political affiliation. Like when you're talking cars, everybody is so passionate and it's so easy

to connect on that level, you know, and like you can just talk cars all day and you're cool.

And that is so, it's so important. Like it is, it is such an important part as an enthusiast

of your life that like, you know, you're, everything else is irrelevant, you know,

and that's like, and that's like the, that's the glue for the, for the, the conversation

and the relationship. And, and it's, it's very interesting to see that. And I,

I really appreciate that as a car person, right? Because it's, it's something that we all have that

is like, like a very special thing that supersedes everything else almost, you know, like it's

a religion, it's almost like religion, you know, dude, totally. It's like a great foundation,

right? It's like, because you already feel like you kind of know them, you know, you're like,

oh, we are into the same shit, obviously, like, so you have this like, you have this foundation

already built. Yeah, or, or yeah. And even if, even if it's not like, you know, like if it's

some guy's showing me his, you know, Packard or whatever, like, I don't know anything about Packards,

but I love car shit, right? And I'm, and it's all interesting and it's a conversation you can have.

And especially if you show interest, like everybody wants to tell you about it,

right? And they're, and they're stoked to hear that anybody gives a shit.

Like when we're in Detroit, my favorite car at the last event we had,

you know, we thought we participated in wasn't, you know, a Radwood era car. It was,

it was a really obscure, shoot, I forgot what it's called. I'm going to have to pull it up

because it is really fascinating. It is an Art Deco, like 1930s streamliner, like super cool.

Like not a one off. I think he made like three. And it's just like, it was a,

it was an aircraft engineer who decided to start his own company. Unfortunately,

it didn't succeed, but, but it was so awesome. And, you know, I was like, I probably spent 45

minutes like checking this car out, you know, and it is called a stout scarab. Have you heard of this

thing? Scout or stout? Stout, like, like that's a stoutly home. I'm looking right now. Dude,

it is so cool. Like rear engine. I think it was a Ford like flathead V8 and like

like just total streamliner Art Deco, like masterpiece and everything. Oh, that's like,

that's like a weird streamliner, like a van looking thing. It looks like a Volkswagen

bug in the front, if, but then wow, that's insane. Yeah, it's really trippy. And like, and the

more you bus and the more you talk or the more you learn about it and the more you like, you

know, poke around, the more you see how well thought out everything is and everything is

super functional, but very beautiful as well. And like really ornate. And yeah, it's very,

very cool car. So yeah, I spent a ton of time on that. Howardy calls it 30. So it was the first

and coolest minivan. Yeah, that's pretty crazy looking dude. Yeah, it's pretty rad. But again,

see, like this is something that isn't, I would have never even, you know, it's not in my, it's

not in my radar at all. Right, but dude, but it's like, but that also gets, that also gets back to

like you, that stood out to you because it almost wasn't a Radwood era car. It's funny how like,

you know, it's like at this show I went to was all baski or cool Porsche's the car

and the car, if you asked me to remember one car, I'll be like, oh, the Integra type R.

I don't know. I'm not a huge Integra type R fan, but that's, and it wasn't actually

in the shows in the parking lot adjacent because it, you know, but like it's funny how that, that

stuff or I'll be like, oh, there's a Tesla Roadster and there's 355. Like I don't remember what 912s

there were. You know, yeah, for sure. It's like, it's like we always say when there's like,

like one Bugatti's cool 10 is lame, right? Totally. Yeah, yeah, that's why I like,

that's why when, you know, I understand you want to be, you know, you want to be buddy,

with your friends and show up in 15 Hellcats to a cars and coffee, but like that automatically

makes all of those cars uninteresting, right? Like there's, you know, it's a different thing. I mean,

I'm sure you want to go for solidarity and all that, but I mean, I'm not going to go look at your

stuff. That's not what I want to say. And it's, it's why at Radwood, you try not to put all

of the E36M3 is next to each other, right? Yeah. Like, like three together could be cool if

they were all different colors or something like that. Or, you know, there can be little pairings

that work, but for the most part, you don't want to group all the, like the same cars together,

because then you have people skipping over sections rather than skipping over one car or,

you know, whatever. Yeah, it was, yeah, that's a, but the car world is also,

when you go to things like this, you know, like I drove, it was LA, I haven't been in LA in a

long time. And I've been trying to like find an excuse to go down there too. That's kind of like,

why I went because Nolan just hit me up randomly. He's like, are you going to this thing? I'm like,

nope. And, and I was like, but I probably could actually, because it was just a cars and copy,

right? But it's rad going, like I feel like we don't go down to that area enough. I mean,

I, I don't go up to San Francisco enough either. But it was, it's really cool how small this

car world is. Like everyone always talks about that. Like any hobby you're into, I think the world

is very small when it comes to that hobby, because you know, it's like everyone kind of,

like this guy, Bill, I mean, John Cowell, he was just in Texas hanging in San Antonio,

quick update on my end before we jump into questions. I have an update and a down date.

So update is I did receive my front bumper and have my M tech air dam as well. Euro bumper from

that one company out of Latvia that I had mentioned. So it came by DHL Express. And just so

everyone knows from a tariff standpoint, the way it worked is I, it was, it was kind of choppy.

I received an email, you know, that said, Hey, your stuff has landed. You need to pay this tariff

before we release it. And I did that right away. So pay the tariff. It was about 30 something

percent pretty sweet because you know, Latvia, you know that we fuck those guys, right? Like

they're yeah. Yeah. And so, so there's that. And then the next day I receive a phone call

from DHL and what the fuck? So I pick it up. It's a dude with an accent. He seemed European.

And he's like, okay, you know, this and this and that we need an order to release here.

But it was like some, you know, boilerplate kind of like, you know, scripted thing that he read.

And I'm like, Oh, I already paid that yesterday. He's like, Oh, I don't see that you have.

And I'm like, Oh, here's my confirmation number. So I send him the confirmation.

I give him the confirmation number and he's like, Oh, you're right. Sorry.

Thank you for paying that. Everything's cool. Blah, blah, blah, blah. So,

so now my shits held an additional, you know, 48 hours because they have to process it. Right.

And so, you know, at the end of the day, I got the thing, he landed in my house.

And that's how that process went. But I, you know, I've been busy here, like leading up to

the holidays or some bunch of like last minute shits or wrap up for work. And so I went in

to my garage and I opened it up like four days later and it's fucking damaged.

And so at this point, you know, I'm, I'm just going to deal with it. It is a ding.

You can tell that it was slammed into by something sharp and very hard because it made

an like a, it made like a scratch, but it's indented into the metal under the chrome about

an inch and change long. And it's, you know, a millimeter thick, whatever. And it also

dinged it. So it's like a, it's like a little tiny, it's like a, it's like a hit increase. And if

I point it out to you, you'll notice it right away. But if you just kind of look at the

bumper as a whole, it's brand new. So it looks really shiny and clean. But unfortunately,

that is very visible if you, if you're standing directly in front of it. And, you know,

but I mean at this, I don't know. Like it's just, I'm four days, I was four days late.

I'm like, am I now going to try to make a case? You know, like the box isn't really damaged.

Like they're going to come back. You know, I'm like, I'm just going to deal with it. It's

going to, it's a bumper. It's going to get, you know, peppered. It's going to be patina

over time, whatever. I'm over it. I did. Is there a dent pro in your future? Could dent

pro do something? So I did, I did, I think so. I flipped it over and I put just like a block

of wood, like a small block of wood and I like, I kind of banged on it a little bit. And with

a sledge and like just, and I also have like a ball peen and like I fucked with it a little bit

and like I made it, it's better now. It's more, it's shallower. So like it's not as visible,

but like you still have that scratch, which is kind of a bummer. And you know, the scratch

is impossible to fix because it's in the chrome. It's fucked. So at this point, I'm just

kind of like going to deal with it. But so that's that. But at least all the components arrived.

It's all there. And I'm going to have the air dam sprayed, but I'm going to have, I'm going to take

the car over to the paint shop in town and they're, I'm going to go to the same place that

sprayed the front bumper on the Z three because they did a good job. And so in that way, they

can match because I think I had mentioned this before that beeline sprayed the hood. So

the hood is fresh paint. So I'm going to have them match the hood because that's the biggest

surface area. And it's like the most visible, especially from a front end and even core front

quarter, like you can see it from everywhere. And like the bumper, I'm sorry, the fenders

are original and they're a slightly different color because they're, you know, old, it's

old Alpine white paint. So I'm just going to have them match it to the hood. So when I

get back into town, I'm going to go straight over there and have them do that. And then

I'm going to assemble it. And the freaking cowcatcher dam's coming off. So, um, yeah.

And I don't want that shit taken up space in my garage. So those are pretty, you know,

they're pretty valuable now, but I'll give you, I'll sell to you for half the price.

Anyone out there who wants a cowcatcher because, uh, because I, I don't want it taken

up. I don't care to like mount it anywhere. I don't have the right racks for it.

Like if I had the right setup in my garage, maybe I would display it in a way, but

I just, that's a bigger project that, um, you know, it's coming down the line. And in the meantime,

I don't want that shit floating around my house. So yeah, dude, I feel you. I also have a,

for giving stuff away right now or selling stuff cheap. I have a 924 turbo hood in my

side yard. If anyone wants it, it's yours for free. Bring a truck. It will not fit

in a Volkswagen golf. You do know that I will. It will not fit in a Volkswagen golf.

about. It didn't start on me the night when we went to that fast Saturday, the night before

fast Saturdays at like we went to go to dinner. I go to start the car. No, starty, dude, loose

ground. Um, so I went to the brunk, wiggled some wires and it started. So actually, and then

a bigger, like the backstory of this is that they replaced the starter and they're like,

dude, the car still won't start at B line. Yeah. Shit. Um, and then Ryan cleaned all the

connections and then it started and they tried it, you know, 50 times and it started every time kind

of over a day and a half. Uh, so right now they're kind of like chase. I brought it back

there yesterday and they're kind of chasing it, but it sounds like it's just like corrosion

around those, the wires to, to the starter motor from the battery. So like at the battery,

there was kind of a lot of corrosion and maybe even to where like the connector strapped like bolts

onto the actual wires, like they were going to take those off and clean them up and stuff like

that. So sounds like it's just something right there. Gotcha. Um, but yeah, I didn't have any

issues besides that one time, but it always sucks when you have that and it's in the

back of your mind always, right? Totally. Um, at least it's not like an alternator or something

like that. It's like, once the car starts, it's fine. Yeah. It's not going to like die on me or

something like that. Right. Um, but yeah, kind of shitty. Well, um, so, you know,

Any thoughts on the new hybrid Honda prelude? Man, I have quite a few.

Do you? Like, okay, what, I don't really know much about it. I feel like it's like,

it's very like the, what was that Honda they made a few years ago that looked really good,

but it was like a hybrid. Oh, the CR-Z. CR-Z. It reminds me of that.

Well, I mean, the issue here is that it's very expensive compared to, you know, alternatives.

And so it costs as much as like, it's like at the same price point as like a,

like a Z, right? Like an Nissan Z, which is what like high forties or something

or mid-high forties. And it's an automatic hybrid with no manual option. And, you know,

they, they fake the shifts and all that. They're trying to appeal to, to, you know, the enthusiast.

But it's just like a weird segment. Like who's buying a coupe on that name alone in it,

but without like the really fun, like engaging elements that made the prelude so rad because

it had the, the high revving H series, like dual overhead cam V tech engines and like manual transmission

was like super key to this. And also like aesthetically, they were really like attractive.

I feel like it's a very handsome car and like this car looks really weird to me, dude. I'm really

struggling with the profile. It's got like this, like it's cab forward. It's like very like cab

forward frog like, like in it's kind of like that super prototype. We had a Radwood kind of,

but more like a, it has like a, it feels like very front heavy, like I don't, I'm not a fan,

man. And I'm, I love. Well, yeah, it's just, it's just very front wheel drive looking like cab

forward. Like the way they, the fender, you know, between the door and the fender,

like the cabin needs to be pushed back like eight, like 12 inches. It just looks very

like kind of like chunky and bulbous. Like also the profile, like the front end is not as

grand. Fenders are so the front ends are front ends really tall. Exactly. Yeah. Fenders. It's a,

it's a tough one, man. I have to see one in person. I don't, I don't know if that would

change things, you know, cause it's, it might just like, it could be just optics here and

based on, you know, literally like what focal length, all the shits being like presented,

but like, yeah, it just, yeah, it's, it's a tough one. I don't understand it. I, I,

I guess it's selling really well in Japan right now to an older audience. They said,

like it's like a retirees really like this thing. I guess cause you're, you don't have

kids, you're sing, you know, you're, it's just you and your, you know, your partner and

it's comfortable. It's like, and then you're also tapping into that nostalgia for the name.

But I just, I associate that name. It's a, it's a hybrid, right? It's like, it's like the,

it's a, no pun intended, but it's like the hybrid of like comfort and luxury with,

with fun engaging performance. And like those are the two things. It's like the,

the Honda thing, the Honda version of an Acura ultimately, right? Like that was kind of

like the thing oddly enough, even though they do have an active,

I mean, maybe lower to look a little better. It's kind of like, how's that Mustang

like slash Miata thing going on where they look really good when they're lowered,

but they look bad stock. And it's not very powerful dude. 200 horsepower hybrid.

Like, I mean, that is crazy. Isn't that like Prius specs? I mean, it's also probably 180

horsepower, right? Dude, it's just, I don't get it. Like you think that you would have

done like, try to like, cause it's the same power as a Civic SI or whatever, right? Like

this is like the, the better version. No, Civic SI has more than 200 horsepower,

doesn't it? I don't know. I haven't looked in a while, but I thought it was,

it was right around there. And like, and yeah, so you, regardless, you want to,

you want to be like slotted between a tie bar and a standard Civic or a Civic SI, right?

That's where I see this. That's okay. There we are. Yeah. An SI has, yeah, 200 horsepower.

Yeah. And that's like, I remember those felt kind of anemic. Remember we had the Acura

version where you're like, Oh God, especially with an auto and that, how bad was the auto

experience? Like it's just, oh my God, so bad. So what, yeah, what is this? This is like the

CRZ dude. It's all like, it's trying to look sporty, but it has nothing going for it. Yeah.

I mean, I'm sure it drives well and all that, but I mean, and for the intended purpose,

right? Like it's more of a sudden tense car, like all that. Of course it's going to drive

well. It's everything drives. I mean, kind of everything drives well these days, but

like, well Honda specifically, like they do a good job with dynamics and ride quality and all

that, but it's just like, I just, it's just a very bizarre, like Mark, I don't know. I don't

know who the demo is. And I'm curious to know what they would call a success in terms of sales,

you know, because it's like up against the Acura alternatives and also the Civic SI and type R.

I mean, and where I just, I don't get it. I feel like it has a lot, it had a lot of

potential. I mean, maybe there will be a revamp, but like just like the Z did with the manual

and, you know, doing all that, but like, it just seems like they just didn't do it right out of the

gates here. I don't understand who they're trying to appeal to. That's my, it's very odd, dude.

42 grand starting price. Yeah. And I've already 100 horsepower. I'm already seeing like massive

markups on these two dealers. Just markups. Really? So, so dumb, but that's like

artificially inflating demand because I doubt they have that real demand or they're just not

building a lot of them because they know they're not going to be a popular car. Right? It's such a

weird play. Like, yeah, who is it? Like who's buying this car? I don't know. And why doesn't it have

like in this, like, you know, plus as a hybrid. So you would think it would have like they

would use the hybrid as like a power, like to make a little power too. So like when people are

buying electric cars would like, like, does any electric car, I mean, I guess beyond behind,

besides like the golf or something, but does any electric car have less than like 350 horsepower

these days? Like, yeah, I mean, the fee is less. Yeah, too. Yeah, for sure. But those are like,

those are like free. And it's a city like a runabout thing. It's not like a car car,

right? That you're taking over. No, that's a little, that's a little tiny transportation device.

But like real car, especially at this price point, you're, you're competing against like

cars with 300 plus horsepower, 400, you know, whatever. And like, yeah, this is so weird,

dude. It's very weird. Trying to look like a sports car. Yeah, I don't get it at all.

And probably the last S H probably had 200 horsepower. It did. Yeah.

No, dude, like 30 years ago or something. Exactly. Crazy 20 or 25 years ago. Exactly.

Yeah, it's a picture on the website of a red one from the rear three quarter and it

doesn't look that bad. Yeah, it's the profile and it looks like it sits low and stuff. And

then the front is definitely like Prius and it's kind of like whatever. It's very like

weird, big, big mouth, but I don't think it's like horrible looking, but you're at the side profiles

is odd. Yeah. And that straight on like from the top, it doesn't look as bad from like higher

up, which is how you'd usually see the car. But it's like when you get down like the full

side profile, getting down on one knee does not look great, but interesting. Yeah, I don't

get this car at all. Fuck it. Fuck it dog. We'll see. Maybe we'll get a chance to drive one and

we'll experience it. But that's all I've got for that. I do have a little eclipse. It has
