My name's Warren.
I'm Lane.
Panda Mart.
What are we just saying about some car, something dude?
It looks like there's another 9, 6, 8 turbo s
that's being auctioned off here very soon.
And it's it's just these cars are popping up.
I think they made what like 25 of them or something like that.
Dude, I thought it was like five.
Dude, let's see.
I might I might actually have the stats on here,
but this is going to go with Gooding and Company only 14.
Wherever made and this dude, this one is so sick.
It's Zermatt Silver over black cloth.
It's so rad dude.
It's really, really clean black leather with quarter
or interior.
It's red and of course it's got the speed lines.
I mean, there's just saying 1.2 million.
That's what they're saying.
I guess yeah against scarcity.
And finally these cars being appreciated.
It's dude.
There was a note.
There was a no sale at RM for like there was a no sale with an
estimate of 550 to 750 at some point.
The first one that comes up.
This is crazy.
They're like has there been a transexal street car that sold
for over a million?
No, definitely not a street car.
Right.
I mean, I know like even a race car is really pushing it.
I don't even know of a race car, dude.
I know, right?
Like a 924.
Yeah.
Like the GT's car.
No, that's can't be a million dollar car.
No, because and race cars historically haven't done, you
know, who race cars don't do that well, right?
Unless they have like the biggest narrative associated.
It's like ball them all winner with the right driver.
All right.
So you have the pedigrees important and transaxle cars
don't have that pedigree right?
No, that's what I'm like tripping out right now.
1.2 million.
Holy shnikes.
Yeah, I was going to check and see.
I have a feeling that the broad arrow car is also estimated.
It's a seven figure car.
Dude, that silver one is so sick dude.
The Zermatt on that man.
It looks so good.
Yeah, and that's the thing is like sample.
It's a it's a wild place to be right.
It's like it's just where it's people are age now that really
appreciate this air of cars and there are a certain number of
them that have a tremendous amount of wealth, right?
And they're like I want that one and this is only three hundred
SL this is yeah, and it's not it's low mileage, but it's not
like a Ferrari low mileage.
It's got 19,000 miles on it.
Yeah.
Wow, dude.
That's a lot of miles.
Yeah, I know for a car like that too.
I don't even because like who even works in a car?
That's a weird car, dude.
Such an awesome like such awesome car dude.
I'm looking at the it was only posted an hour ago on hyper drive.
This link arts talking about on Instagram.
There's two comments.
The first comment is to be honest, beautiful.
This is being honest, dude.
Come on, what the hell dude?
It's it's interesting though.
I mean, I'm curious to see what happens.
You know, naturally, right?
Rising tide floats all boats because I feel like that the 944
turbo is we've been talking about.
There's still a bargain right now like they went up and then
they sort of dipped and like, you know, you can get a nice
driver for 20 grand, you know, 25 grand still, which is two and
nine twenty eights to dive to.
So now we're back with this this type of stuff, putting eyeballs
on on this chassis, right?
And like I'm curious to see what happens.
But yeah, so if you if you're thinking about getting a 944
turbo, go buy one right now.
Do to them or a nine six eight or a nine six eight.
I mean, nine six eights are already banky.
Like, I mean, I think like to get a decent driver nine six eight
you're at thirty five forty now like a nice car, you know, not
like super low mileage.
I mean, now if you want to go super low mileage, you look you're
talking six figures.
I mean, even not last year, but the year before last we were with
the L or LBI, formerly LBI now on a moya.
We were at the I think it was Bonham's auction and Adolfo and I
were like kind of interested in it.
It was a I think it was a Mexico blue nine six eight, not a club
sport, just Mexico blue with sport and seat interior cloth, really
nice car and I was like dude, I'm down at like sixty five and and
Adolfo is like I'll go up to eighty and it went for like one twenty
or something.
I was like, damn it.
You know, like so yeah, I mean, it was Mexico blue though, like yeah,
and also I think it was a mileage thing and also auction like that.
Dude, that's that's a whole different story.
But yeah, I will say at Radwood Amelia this year in just a week
from this coming out, a lot of nine forty four is a lot of nine
six eights.
We have a couple nine six eight Caberleys have signed up.
I don't know if that's where they all went to to live every nine six
eight cab is in Florida definitely could be, but it's a
very strange we are now.
We're just looking at the list today and I was like dude, we have and
it's probably like a transaxle club or like the nine forty four nine
six eight club just got wind of it and we're like we want to go.
Yeah, so isn't there also?
There's a there's a nine six eight turbo RS.
Whoa, oh, is that the one that that that broader was doing?
Yeah, that's the broad arrow one dude.
That's like the fucking and it's like one.
It's like one of like three or something.
Yeah, yeah, this is like the crazy one.
I'm looking at what color is that one?
Like orange, no, dude, it's it's black with like a really colorful,
like almost like a tic-tac looking livery and it's
it's the only front engine Porsche RS model ever produced
and considered to by those in Visock to be quicker than the contemporary
Carrera RSR 3.8.
And yeah, I think we've seen the red one at Laguna.
Remember at the paddock there, like they've displayed it before.
I think one of the race teams has it and they kind of bring it out.
They don't.
But it's a red one with a meatball like this.
I think that might be one of these.
That's the one.
But yeah, this one is yeah, estimated in excess of one million.
interesting, but I have a feeling that like the three forty eight and three
fifty five challenge cars, I have a feeling that these are street legal.
Yeah.
So I know Paul, Paul Kramer of auto kennel, he, you know, he has a friend
with one of the turbo S's like a orange.
I think it's like yellow, right?
Or it's a yellow, I don't know.
Is it is almost like a Hannah looking cars?
Do you remember he was going to bring it to Radwood?
I think so.
That sounds like I was talking about bringing it, but and he
because Paul had his cancer, he's like, Hey, you can drive my car when you're
better.
So he's going to get like a as like a dangle as a dangled carrot.
So Paul gets to drive it.
It worked.
It worked.
He fucking overcame his cancer to drive it.
I know he was going to just say fuck it, but then that came along and was
like exactly.
So now Paul gets to drive it.
Speaking of Paul, he's in a transactional car in his nine forty four
driving to Montana.
Yeah, yeah for ice race.
Is he participating or just making a crazy Paul road trip out of it?
So he's making a crazy Paul road trip for sure, and he put like different
wheels on his car and tires and everything, and he's rolling out with Joe,
you know, who goes on a rallies in the gulf livery nine eleven.
I saw him and he he is doing exhibition laps.
Okay, so he's going to get out there.
Super fun, right? Yeah, yeah, really cool. Yeah, yeah, I'm surprised that car
with orange, like bright orange. Yeah, the police livery. Yeah, I agree, but I
mean his tortuga is so iconic, and I feel like it's so perfect for that.
It already has us, you know, a spike tire on the roof and skis doesn't have
skis and skis and and all the chachis. So I think Paul just had a Paul just
had a third of his hip replaced, and I think comfort is king here art. No, I
see. Well, I think it's I think it's a big deal just to I mean, just to drive
out there is huge for him right now. Totally just to walk in the snow, right?
Like it's like he's like been training to what he's been training, walking on
the sand, just to walk in like foul weather, right? It's like and that's why
he didn't go with his dad because he needs someone capable of something
happens. Yeah, like along the way. I love it. It's like I'm going to train and
all this stuff, but I'm still going to drive. I'm not going to fly and I'm
still driving a 30, 30 year old 35 year old car or whatever. Totally. But he's
driving a a little more comfortable 35 year old car. Yeah, I totally get it.
That's going to be exciting. So you're going also Lane and I'm going as well.
I'm leaving tomorrow. You're like I'm leaving after this podcast. Yeah. All
right. You're flying up. Is it a direct flight to Bozeman or where you go?
Direct flight to Bozeman. Yeah. Okay. And then I'm going into Big Sky,
renting a car and doing all that. Dude doing the whole thing man. Okay. Where
are you staying in Bozeman in Big Sky? Okay, Bozeman. Yeah, Big Sky. I don't
know. Yeah, right next to the spot, dude. Pretty sweet. No, they have a car as
a coffee like right when I get there. I've been talking to my trip. Or is it
like, is it adjacent to the Yellowstone Club or yeah, it's near Yellowstone.
Yeah, okay. Chris Harrell is like running the whole thing. That's right. Yeah,
he reached out for about insurance and shot Cheyenne. Oh yeah, from formerly at
Petrolicious. Yeah, him and Cheyenne are running the whole thing. That would be
fun. That would be super fun. Dude, that's awesome man. I'm stoked for you. I
yes. That's awesome. That's all. Lane's going to show up in a t-shirt and
jeans. I will report back though. It looks like you've got heavy winds Thursday,
Friday, but crystal clear. Temperature and it will get up to 50. Oh, okay.
But with the wind show much colder, 26, 27 mile an hour winds, very, very
windy jeans and jeans, a t-shirt and a sweatshirt, jeans and a t-shirt. Don't
even worry about a sweatshirt. You're going to want to get that wind in you.
Yeah. Okay. You want to up in your, you want to in your back, in your armpits.
Lane, do you wear, do you own a pair of clothes? I might bring a windbreaker
slash jacket. Maybe a beanie. Yeah, but Saturday, Sunday, very light winds,
almost 50 degrees. Oh shit, dude. It's going to be a great weekend. Maybe a tank top,
huh? I mean, you'll see people in tank tops. That's like basically summer. It's
going to be beautiful though. I bet, yeah, with like the wind blows away, you
know, there's going to be blue skies, snowy. That's going to be awesome, but
I don't see snow in the forecast. So hopefully that lake stays frozen. Yeah.
The, I guess what's on there. Yeah. I'm really, I'm sad right now as we're
talking, sorry, my ADD kicked in as we're talking and I'm looking at the fucking
lots at the Amelia auction and at 40s, you know, then now they're three to four
million. So it's like, um, this dream will, it just, I think it's been gone for
that dream has been over for a while, but yeah, now I can't even sell my house
in by one, which I always had that in the back of my mind. It was like, so now
it's it's that's all gone. It's gone, but it's gone, but autos am az one f 40
conversion is where we're at. That's right up your alley. I mean, that
definitely checks a lot of boxes checks a lot of boxes. I mean, there's a, so
have you guys seen the Mazda speed kit for the almost? It's almost there, cool.
It's six. Yeah, it's f 40 s. Yeah. So that might be the move and ironically now
those are 35 grand to so it's like everything is even autos and drive. It's
pretty cool. I mean, Warren right hand drive. Come on. That thing is like two
foot wide. I know it doesn't matter. It does not matter that it's right. You
could. You could reach the other side for your. And by the way, there's so many
other compromises in that car that like right hand drives last one. You can. I
think I can from the driver's seat. I can probably put my left hand on the
ground if I were to stick it out of the passenger side and like seeing around
cars to like make a pass like it's such a small car. You can put it like on the
line and still right. Yeah. I wonder if like, I mean, yeah, I mean, that could
be a thing. I mean, I'm just thinking like if I if I would do a full rally in
one that would be is that too gnarly? I don't know you would you would be bomb
dude. They're so slow dude. I don't want to speed. It's got some mods, you know,
some suspension. Yeah, it's a buzzy, mild accident. You're basically are a
pancake. Well, yeah, that's definitely true. You don't want to get involved in
all that. Well, it's exciting Lane. I'm looking now. It's a it's a high wind
warning. So severe winds, 70. Oh, it just changed. It just changed. It just
changed. Yeah. So just and then two weeks after that, I'm going to I'm going
to Japan again for Luft and she's going to McGaragawa ring, going to McGaragawa
circuit the following day for some Porsche tractor. That's only great. The
talk about photo opportunities that track is so stunning about Porsche moments.
If anyone is a moment God, don't say that, but if anyone is listening and has
never heard of the McGaragawa circuit, check it out. It's got it's just an
amazing. It's like a private racetrack that somebody had a fever dream to
build in in the woods on a mountain and they did it super. So yeah, and it's a
club, right? So it's club based. So it's like a thermal. I guess we have out
here and you can buy membership and participate in all the facilities are
like as epic as it gets. And as a reminder, McGaragawa means like a
sinuous or curvy river. So that's what the so Magaru is to turn Magaru or
Magari is turning right and right. That's what I was going to say. And then
kawa normally gawa is river. So that's what that means to just that. But it's
a race. The more you know, the more you know. Yeah, questions time. This is
actually right on topic here. Lars Brancourt says looking for new seats for
my nine eight six three to four track days a year want something that looks
right in the car. GT three seats would be the easy button if they weren't six to
ten thousand dollars a set now. What aftermarket seat would you look for or do
I try and find some nine, nine, six sport seats, which are still Mucho
denaro?
Well, does he need lumbar support? That's the one thing because a lot of
these buckets do not have lumbar support. You add a little pillow, a little
race, you can add a little pillow. So that is a recaro option. You can get the
first one that comes to mind as a pole position. That's basically a GT three
seat, but different. You know, it doesn't have like the sort of Darth Vader
looking top to it, but it's the same shape. I've had a couple of those in the
past. I like them, but they don't have lumbar support. So you have to add
something there and there is companies now. There is some aftermarket, some
people that make inserts for all these seats now and their memory foam and
they're pretty nice, I think, and even for like brand new GT three sport seats
kind of suck. They don't have lumbar. So like there's companies that make these
inserts and they'll make them in your tartan and your plaids and all that kind
of right. I remember. Yeah, I remember when I had the last set, I looked at it
was a velcro one that just attaches to the actual center and it's like not and
not an insert like inside of the seat, but even externally, right? And you just
kind of like velcro it on there. So it's same idea. So it's pretty easy is what
I'm saying to also. It's like that's an option. So also the other thing with a
pole position is that they were used historically in a lot of Porsches. So
you're going to find rails and all that kind of shit super easily like that'll
bolt that that's not going to be difficult to find because every car is
like a nice brand to look at when you I was going to say it's not a Corbo or
yeah Cobra Cobra. Well, the SPG is a good alternative. That's also it's similar
to a pole position, but look at it. You'll see what I mean like the shoulder
width is different. And so the problem with a lot of seats that that you have
is that not everybody has a wine country motor sports, which is a race shop at
Sonoma Raceway where they have all of the seats sitting in the showroom and you
can try them all out, right? Like and seats are so particular, right? I was
just going to say that's my thing even like with a new car, right? Like I mean
seats can make or break a car as you go, you know, yeah and experience that. So
it ideally you get to experience the seat and get to sit in and see what it
feels like. But those are suggestions based around like available, you know,
availability of components and parts and all that kind of stuff and also that
look correct and will hold you in place and all that. That's a great answer.
I like that answer. Yeah, good job.
SF.F1 says Red Bull put put on an amazing show at Marina Green last weekend.
Estimated 40,000 plus turned out. Yuki was lit literally and brought new and
regular fans of F1 out in force. The older V8 engines sounded amazing in the
RBR and VC ARB show cars. How might Radwood work with F1's older, i.e.
Louder V12 V10 cars to showcase an era whose sound and popularity could be
featured. By the way, Drive to Survive drops Friday and Australian Grand Prix
next weekend. Yes, what an event that was. I'm so glad I didn't go. That was my
take from seeing all the mayhem and bad visibility.
Well, it sounded like if, yeah, basically if you weren't within the first three
rows, it was kind of pointless. Yeah, exactly. Look, right? It's kind of like
I don't have bleachers or some sort of stadium type experience was, was
interesting, but and also I was really shocked to see the lack of planning on
certain parts of the event from such a large organization. But yeah,
Radwood Formula 1 cars, we would love that. I don't know how might I would
work with F1's older cars to showcase? I mean, there's all sorts of ways,
right? Like just exactly what they did, but having it all be period correct.
80s and 90s are awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Exhibition style, right? So I mean,
you ideally, you have a race track to do that at and you have, you know,
sessions where they can go out and people get up close and personal with them in
the paddock. And I think there's ways to do that. And that's sort of where we're
heading in the long run. But yeah, we love that. And I think that's, that's
sort of been the end, kind of our dream from day one, you know, like a lot of
that, not only F1, but also DTM cars, BTCC, like the challenge series that we
used to have the touring cars in the U.S., like IMSA, all of those cars to have
them on track and see them at full tilt is kind of the end game for sure.
Yeah. That's ideal situation. Yeah. And it's just kind of, it's a scale thing
really, right? Like, I mean, because, you know, to get them there and all of
that is a huge endeavor and you want to have, quite frankly, a velocity
invitational style event to do something like that. Yeah. And they add elements,
you know, they do include some of these cars, but it is obviously not entirely
based on this area. Yep. That's so mint says a couple of devoted DWA fans are
expecting triplets. You each get to name one of the babies with the proviso that
the name must also be the name of a car model. What are you going with? Dude,
P. T. That is a P. T. Barnum Barnum and Bailey. That was a that was a name
shit. I've never even thought of why it's P. T. I mean, I heard Paul or something
like Paul Thomas. Ever since we look it up. Wait, no, right? We've never talked
about that. Why is it P. T, but P. T, panel truck, panel truck, panel truck.
It's got a little truck. Let me look it up. It's got that's even worse. They
didn't even make a pan. It's not a truck because they didn't make a panel. They
didn't make a panel. It's gotta be. Oh, what lame personal transportation. That
is the lamest ever. Are you kidding me? Brian as American cars are so fucking
dumb. By the way, like I posted on Radwood. I posted that that a Ford
Taurus ad from the original Ford Taurus. Yeah, and it's like Taurus for us. It's
a personal car. I'm like what the fuck's a personal car dude. Don't you know
personal car? Like this is so bad. I think dude
there's some other ones out there. Then the GM people would be like, are you
listening? Like no, we're not listening to this stupid car. All right. I'm going
with the classic. Don't say Shelby. No Alante which short for short is Alan
awesome. His name is Alan. It's short for Alante Alante. I like it Alante. If you
don't know any Alans, give me a little Alante once in a while. Alante. Are you
that's not a lot. You can't do Porsche Mercedes. No, it's got to be a model,
right? A model. Yeah, like a like a Chevy cruise, right? The cruise cruises a name
actually is. It's pretty good. No cruises. A good name
Aurelia. I knew a girl named Aurelia and she was named after the car.
Okay, I know. I knew a kid named F 40 and he was
E F F. Do you skyline?
What is the one that was coming out in the luce? Luce is good. We were going to
name. If Andrew was a girl's lucea possibly going to New Yorker
money Monte Carlo to
Riviera, Riviera. Interesting. All right. Oh, that's my buddy over there. What's
his name? El Dorado? Oh, I see. Hey, does he? He hangs out with Chavette
Oh, dude Chavette super ghetto Corvette is a burly name. I'm sure it exists. That's
got to be out there, dude. Yeah, that's right up. Yeah, Corvette man Corvette Jones.
That guy is so hard. Sucks. He smokes so many. He's fucking rips grits, dude, but
he's not as hard as RS 200 though. That guy's pretty legit. You're off the chart, sir.
I mean, the only one's come up with the name so far. Hey, all the way out there. You did
throw a luce. Yeah, I think I'm just off the top of my head.
Yeah, Cruz sounds like the legit name. I think that's a good name for a boy
and I love that you can be a Chevy Cruz is like a man. Just Cruz man. Cruz is like
a little like a kind of a tough, tough kid named Tundra. Oh, dude, what about fucking Stratus
Lane? You got anything Joppa?
Oh, dude, Merak. Oh, Merak's Merak's actually a pretty good name. Merak Merak. I know a
Merak. I know a Merak. I think I think they're from Seat, Seat, Africa. No, that
makes sense. Dude, I think you know, oh, there's a. What is it called a Jetta? You
know, maybe a. Damn, that's so gnarly golf. No, that doesn't work. Dude, I can't
even think of a car name right now, dude. P. T. They're all like it's all like
Mustang. Dude, what about Aztec? It's not Alan, Alan, which is short for Alante.
Not Alante, dude. Simeron. Okay, we're moving on.
Bobby Reed with the cars says you're offered any production car ever made for the next
DWA rally. Oh baby. There's one catch. That's the car you must use for every rally you ever
run again. It will always show up ready to go perfectly maintained, but you can never
switch. Do you accept the offer? If so, what's your forever rally car?
I would go. Can I do like a group B 288 GTO?
Is that okay? Is that? That's horrible, man. How can you set up set up for me ready to go?
Yeah, I mean, my first low hanging cheater fruit is a nine six four RS. Like, I mean,
that's a pretty solid car. That's so freaking boring, but is it too low? It's too easy. We
basically have cars like that show up on the road. Yeah, so okay. All right, I'll get a
Sport Quattro S one again. That's pretty good, man. That's what I'm doing.
Yeah, do you do like a vintage fully documented period build 300 SLR rowdy killer styling it
does, but what if it's not documented? So I don't want it. I don't want I would never
know. I want a pike speak. Howdy Sport Quattro S one. That's what I'm doing.
That's okay. It's pretty extreme. I like it. It's pretty extreme. I mean, you want. I mean,
my nine six four S was too tame. So we're going to go to the office. We're going to go full tilt.
Yeah, but I'll do a Ferrari 250 GTO. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, gangster. No, I like it. Actually,
why not? It doesn't have it. Dude, why not? What is it called a fridge and air? What is that
aftermarket brand? No, no, no, no, you're not out. No, you can do it. Amen. It's the only
no. It's not. You have. Oh, it's a race as race. A real car. Yeah. So all right. All right,
dude, I you know what? Another one to be sick to now. I don't think about it is I would go
0 37 launch 0 37 Monte Carlo spec because I want the rear wheel drive would be more fun. I think
so I would I would go with that mid-engine, rural drive. That's my final answer. It has to be said
too that we need a car that's 1999 and older because it would have to do both rallies,
the modern rallies that we do and the classic. We can't. I mean, yeah, you can't pick my and
what I'm saying is you can't pick a brand new car even if you wanted to because you respect
nine nine five nine would be great. That would be fantastic. Kind of perfect. Yeah,
that would be kind of perfect. Yeah, it's it's hard to beat. I would say a 40, but it's so extreme.
It is so they're very race. Well, you're also going to slam into shit if that's what I'm saying,
right? Because I mean you can't like M one pro car would be super rat too, but I feel like I'm
going to destroy the body kit like on the first rally and it's yeah. So you need some ground
clearance. You need some compliance. Why am I not going to clear enough one? It's got everyone.
Aren't you you could? I think that would work should. I probably should do that. That seems
like the move and dude. I don't know CD player air conditioning CD player. I feel like the
what's the gearing situation like that's why I wanted a 37 Monte Carlo spec like you want
a tight twisty mountain car, right? That it's got like super short gearing because like
whereas that I guess you could know, but you're not allowed to you're not allowing
him to get air conditioning. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So yeah, yeah, they're not adding stuff to it.
Can you do zero to sixty and first gear and a McLaren of one? Let me look probably yeah. I
bet you can really off the rev limiter nine five nine as a nine five nine as a galenda gear
or whatever. That's nice. First
so the short answer to is that we're definitely gash. We're definitely taking 70 and first or
something. So depending on the specification, first gear will reach sixty five or to eighty
two miles per hour. Not good for no. Yeah, I think it's two eighty GTO for me. Oh, that's so rad.
That's pretty good. Ditto's dad says what car did you used to like, but have since fallen out of
love with it due to speculation driving the values to a point where the driving experience
isn't worth the cost? It's a great question. I mean NSX. I don't know. It's like just getting
more and more expensive. And I think it's a great car, but not for a hundred thousand dollars or
seventy five thousand for the beat is most beat example, right? Like for what it is.
And I wouldn't say like all the all the really high end stuff is already so
expensive like to your point. I have forties and things like that. It's like,
yeah, it's the speculation has destroyed them to the point of it doesn't make sense anymore.
Right. Yeah, I mean, yeah, I guess there's there's quite a few of those really if you
start thinking about it, like in terms of like I keep sort of hovering around an FDRX seven,
but like now you're talking about 50 grand to start for a good car, right? And then like
so not necessarily a deal breaker, but it's like but I my focus shifts elsewhere. Like
if I'm like, okay, if I'm going to spend 50 grand there, yeah, what else could I get, right?
And it's like so the it drops down in priority, whereas that like at twenty five grand I'm in,
right? So it's like there's cars like that. You know, it's one that I don't know if this
is accurate. Maybe Lane could talk to us too, but mark two GTI's like nice ones are so expensive.
Oh, yeah, they're like thirty grand, thirty thousand dollars like and mark once for that
matter to like they've gotten really expensive and that's for nice ones, which is only the thing
I mean, but you're going to be able to sell it for the same. Well, I get that like, but I'm
saying driving experience for thirty. Yeah, like if we got in that and we feel like you'd feel like
it's a thousand dollar car. Yeah, it's a sell. No, I know it and put it. They do look right. I know
I was going to say that it's an art piece like all that, right? Yeah, I was going to say this
because I think I think I could still like buy one of those like if it was a really nice. It
would have to be a really nice one. We're in like have to be the nicest mark two or mark one GTI
like the perfect one and I'd be stoked on it and you'd probably have it for a year
or whatever and then you move on. Yeah, he takes some photos of it. You drive around,
you're like, oh, this is cool. I think you immediately want to start upgrading things
like it doesn't stop that great. It doesn't have any power, but you kind of can't
and then yeah. Yeah, and I kind of feel like I always like them.
I think it's after driving the two of that 205 GTI, I was like, oh, this car kind of like
isn't that great. Yeah,
and I think that's because I didn't have nostalgia around that car and it's the same with like mark
one mark two. I have like the nostalgia is so strong where I don't feel as like I can still
it outweighs the like because I do feel the same way about that car, but there's the nostalgia
is so strong with those cars right one car that's really I always thought they were really cool
and after experiencing out them and the price is the lancy adult integral is
I agree like after like they're super cool. They're rad looking.
I mean they always they draw a crowd. You know they're really neat.
They're they drive fun, but after we had one for you know drove one for a little bit
and experienced it and experience like kind of how crappy they are
and how much they are now you're kind of like there's where like yeah I I will like I will
shout to the moon if anyone wants one I'm like no don't dude just don't like please what about the
mountaintops yeah shout to the mountaintops dude I mean someone the other day mountaintops right
well we're having we're having lunch the other I was having lunch the other day with someone and
they were they're like a casual they're like into modern cars and they're talking about like
wanting a Radwitter car and they're like yeah I always love like lancy adult integral is
and they're like dipping their they want to dip their toe into like that arrow car there I'm like
don't do it dude just please don't do it like I'm I swear just please don't like you know the old
the toe dip lancy yeah yeah yeah I mean I think there's there but same right it's that's the
situation with people is like especially if like I noticed if and this this is an a stereotype
but I think it's true like if if you're European right like there is so much nostalgia there and
like heritage and like the e30m three thing here where it's like like they're willing to pay a
premium for that even if it's no doesn't live up to that six six figure price point but also
they're very fragile which is like really sketchy right like that's the part with me it's the
fragility of those yeah and that's what really throws me off but I mean no I get it there's I
mean yeah it's here I mean nine six four s we just talked about like I mean those are $300,000
now like that doesn't even make it a consideration you know like it's but like yes they're super rad
but like that's yeah you unless you're in a position where you're you know you're well
off enough that just like Lane saying it's just money and money out right like that's
that's one way to look at it but if we're not there we're talking about dropping out right
it's like not even a consideration because we're looking at other other places at a
lower price point JF Cowell says how do you guys feel about or respond to sellers who really
misrepresent the cars they sell on auction platforms is there any recourse
I hate people that do that I also feel like you're kind of it's on you as the buyer to if you're
really interested in the car to like call that out or or respond to it effectively
I know is he so well the question here is is he talking about like actively like if you're
talking about like a listing I think if you saw a listing for a nine six four s and you notice
like there's orange peel but the auction ad says you know perfect paint gotcha okay versus
post right like if so is that what it is or is it like in real life like when you go to look at
the car and you're like oh man or you know and you it turns out to be you know not as represented
yeah maybe it's he's saying recourse so I guess that is yeah after a person well that's that's
what I was thinking because like I had an experience like well I've had multiple experiences yeah
art has a lot arts have these a lot I feel yeah but I feel like for example like the zhp that I
bought it was re sprayed and the pictures weren't did not show the re spray very well like it was
like far enough and it didn't actually like really show the over spray on stuff and orange peel all
over the place and like like that was I think a very strong misrepresentation of what was going on
because like they didn't take pictures of gaskets and trim that was over sprayed on and she like
that and I I mentioned it like hey dude like I definitely responded to him and he's like oh well
I I took all the pictures they're there and it's just like right at that point you're already kind
of sol right I think it's a little bit of anytime you purchase a car aside unseen in person that's
a big exactly that's a really big problem very big risk and yeah it's a very big risk yeah I feel
like I'm a little bit like I feel like I always I want to give people the benefit of the doubt
of the doubt always and I'm like well their idea of nice is not what mine is and they
can't they didn't you know because a lot of times people they they don't see what I you know they
maybe they didn't see it but you know a lot of stuff you're like how could you not see that
or have right you know that's intentionally hidden to like there's yeah and stuff's intentionally
hidden and stuff's covered up and stuff like that but it's like I've I've learned like I just won't
buy cars on these auctions without looking at the car in person dude I just can't do it somebody
you trust go to look at it and they do have services for that but even then yeah but even
then they're husky yeah because I think you hit it the nail on the head there is their version
of nice is not the same as yours yeah they come from a place like let's say they come from
Pittsburgh not no offense Pittsburgh but hey how about Ohio virtually rust free
skinny skibody Ohio and the thing you know yes it doesn't have cancer holes through the body but
clearly any minute it will but it's like dude that's pretty good right like I have all my cars
are rusted all the way through it's like well we would never even consider that as a car to buy
you know around here so yeah it's all relative but that's why yeah without getting in it that said
though that said like what if you see stuff in an auction are you compelled enough to like go and
like comment on there and say like wait a minute like for example like if we know let's say that
it's a car that we know very well like it's an e30 and you see you know what that that's not
original whatever right that's been replaced individual choice to make and how much time you
have and well that's part of this conversation so the answer is no I don't do that I'm not going
I'm not that guy either but I also don't like I'm not on bring a trip I'm not a trailer troll
um but if I if I was on there and I saw a car that I think I think if it happened to be like
I saw a car and they were misrepresenting it and then in a major way I would feel inclined to call
it out yeah like there's for example like it was a blatant thing you know yeah like this is an example
like I think years ago I saw a car that had the wrong gauge clustering it right and it's like
well shit now you're talking about that raises a lot of questions right like not only is it the
the gauge cleaner cluster incorrect but also like what's going on with the odometer right so now
like you're kind of going down that path that's a big one so stuff like that I mean I I think more
recently like I have I'm less inclined I feel like when I was younger and I had more time as
you're saying like you know I would be more involved but like now it's kind of like unless it's
something super super gnarly yeah and I look at bring a trailer all the time more is just a hobby to
like you know late at night I'll have that looking at what's available and sold and just
kind of checking it out but I've never commented like I have no interest you're not in there to
like fight with people about it and well I once had a mighty max and it had a little plant that
grew out of it that's right those are great trucks that's right I did see a Volvo the other day parked
and it had a little plant coming out of the door frame oh nice well there's also those people on
there that like overreact to stuff and that's annoying because they will call out stuff that
isn't really there and they'll be there'll be a weird reflection they're like look at the big
old dent on the fender no one you're like that's a clearly a reflection or something you know or
it's like the car is used it's 40 years old it's going to have some you know flaws as long as it's
represented well it's one so but so here's another thing and I have done this so in the
instance of the x5 that I bought there were some things that were misrepresented and I told cars
and bids about it like I didn't go go back to the the seller because they suck I think there was
it was just a dealership it was a dealer yeah and so but the reason that I did that is because
if you're a dealer a lot of these dealers have relationships with the platform and if
the dealers are consistently doing sketchy shit there has to be recourse because then that you
know that's that taints the image of the platform right so I said here's my experience with these
guys just so you know and maybe if other people do the same and if they continue to do sketchy
shit they don't you know they get booted which should be a thing right so if they're responsible
and I feel like that's kind of as far as it goes I think going back to the dealer itself like
these people I mean I don't think you're going to get very far which car with this are with my
x5 with six is and that was a dealer too and they should be like they need to be held accountable
right that's like yep a professional organization where they should they should be able to like
they need to to represent the car in a proper way where an individual the most likely to fuck around
I know but they they need to be held responsible as I'm saying like a
an individual you could be like well they don't really know what they're talking about they might
not know what you know they might not know a car has been repainted or sure like that like this
dealer like definitely knows when a car has been repainted they look at them yep they they turn
they go through cars day in day out right right michelin ps five star restaurant says that's
such a great name driving the cool car to your high school reunion yay or nay
oh interesting I haven't I have a story about this I went to school and knew this kid for a
long time he ended up going to cal berkeley and worked for the epa like pretty high up anyways
came to our 20 year reunion and drove his dad's miata hell yeah that's sick not his own car like
borrowed a car to wait why does the why does cal epa have anything to do with it or he was just
sort of a bookworm super nerdy and then it came time to like come back to he never cared about
cars or anything like it wasn't that's not him at all but he decided to make the choice
that's to drive the convertible his dad's maroon the convert and see the anniversary one oh and see
maroon nc to i'm just i'm envisioning like yeah like because i mean it's he goes into a parking
lot you know it's not like you go we just so much the front you like valet everyone watching and
stuff that's so that's the thing you never like it's not like rome and michelle you don't like
pull up to the spot and right you know it's not like the valet like everyone sees you yeah
ripping around the parking lot first yeah that's a nay for me i mean i would drive my m3 if i wanted
but sure i don't think i don't think i would what did you guys okay here's a here's a you guys have
had two reunions i imagine or i don't know yeah um what did you how did you get to your reunions
i told my girlfriend to pick me up get over here pick me otter me otter me otter i wrote a horse
so i did i don't ever i don't remember it was literally daily driver it was the x three you
know or whatever it was again and it wasn't even a thing that i considered right like oh i'm going
to go show up in a cool car i feel like um there is a some there are exceptions to this where it's
like hey like you know your three cool car but your car buddies that used to hang out with
that you haven't seen in forever i'm like all right i'll show up because after the fact we're
going to go to the parking lot and talk cars and it's an opportunity right like i feel like that's
kind of a unique situation but um i don't like my the high school friends that i had at the time
i don't think they would really appreciate it i'm sorry yeah i don't i mean if you're i would say
the only reason i would is if you live in a different town and you're taking a road trip
or something you're like i want to drive my like fun car on this road trip you know like on this
i don't know something like that but i wouldn't go out of my way to like drive a cool car to the
reunion like the two reunions that i've gone to i i think we walked to one i had my wife pick me up
girlfriend pick me up and then the other one i went with a friend and an xc 90 so good yeah
good still yeah good stuff jacob torres six says i'm buried in snow much love from new york good
luck jacob and that looked like quite a blizzard some cool stuff coming out of uh manhattan like
three four feet of snow looked wild wild stuff um wild weird wild stuff john rye says pros and
cons of making the podcast an hour and a half instead of an hour well pros and cons and pros
and cons and pros do we not always get close to an hour and a half now we're we're gonna run that
hour more efficient these days yeah i mean let's see pros and cons cons of an hour and a half is
that we don't always have an hour and a half to do it it's hard enough to sometimes get together
for an hour also it's good to hear that you want to hear more of us talking but sometimes you feel
like maybe it's too much i don't know yeah i think in terms of i mean the cons are relatively
minimal because it's not that much longer i think as you said yeah it's really having just dedicating
the time content wise i mean there are some ways to do that used to do three hours a week or something
yeah we used to do two one and a half hour shows right um but um yeah it's i don't know i mean i
think it's more just content right like having the enough to discuss and put out there but we
could even you could build that in right with like segments and shit like that and i guess
that's maybe adding structure that we don't necessarily care to have for this type of show
is that we've tried it we've done things like that and it's it's a challenge um i could see
getting back to more formats like stuff if we i would mine a little more little more segments or
something get to a little more dedication and time right now it feels like we're all spread thin but
i like this thought john thank you for throwing it out there hey maybe that'll motivate us dude
let's hear it well yeah maybe it's a vote how many john rise are there out there right that want
more yeah more do you call it and should we do a little more structure three yeah do we need do we
need like um dedicated segments like what you're listening to something like or just yeah like
share we like automotive news um we all i mean we have we dedicate time to certain things but it's
not like consistent right so it's like obviously like the project stuff and all that oh yeah we
see project car updates every week that kind of stuff and yeah we should i heard warren went to a
hardcore show last weekend dude and i heard lane went to a art show lane had an art show which is a
big he's an artist and he had a show and i couldn't make it but i thought people would be at this
hardcore rock show oil on campus i skipped that part of it dude i know dude i was like well surely
it'll be a good crew at the starting at nine o'clock at night dude sleep dude is that late for
you yeah bro i was at beer 30 before that then i went to the concert and jeez it was quite a scene
man i haven't been to a show like lawn more lawn more was great but charity kiss is killer i'm not
even joking around like i thought you like lawn more i heard you like lawn more lawn more is great
that's like real that's just like hardcore punk yeah but it's you know i was tapping my feet
do you know yeah bob in my head did you listen to the opening dude the acoustic guy like law firm
suicidal law firm or something no i missed it i must have missed him i came in right before
a lawnmower started and then we stayed for a little bit of charity kiss who were you like
skanking or just no no no no no i was sitting at the bar but charity kiss is not hardcore and
they're really quite good they're from rino and uh they're on apple music i don't know if they're
on spotify but check them out charity kiss i didn't look up lawnmower i'll be honest but they're both
on uh they're both on yeah they're both on spotify both available yeah i was very impressed by charity
kiss i didn't know what to expect and uh the crowd is classic um just and you know what don't take
out a lot of love the lawnmower like called him out thanked him gave him a little like standing
ovation kind of thing it was it was sweet it was sweet to see that's cool he's got his whole
scene there so how was the earth show i'm sorry i missed it it was good it was fun um yeah we had
a lot of people show up it was palo gante myself and this guy enzo showing his punk rock like hardcore
videos that he shoots on like mini dv oh cool oh shit um and then he had like a mini dv set up
with a widescreen that was like recording everyone in there so you could see it on a crt tv sorry
like rad uh yeah it's cool i had like what's up was chris part of it or did you just do the
no he just cruised by he did one of the he did a poster okay made a poster of us got i made a
poster don't they made a poster was kind of like a you know don't i put the whole thing together
basically like said hey lane you're you're going to be part of this and i said okay and then he said
enzo you know enzo you're going to be part of this palo you're going to be part of this we're
like okay um so yeah it all came together in the end it was fun stuff still up there downtown
sanikers adjacent to 11th hour copy copy um at the sanikers art center so yeah it was fun though
it was cool a lot of people rolled through that's great um you know kina sold some i didn't really
have prices up or anything i just kind of threw some stuff on the wall but um you know sold some
easy so it was fun awesome sweet yeah i was sorry i couldn't make it but i did show my support
in another way in another way that's rather man that's really cool um yeah i saw leading i saw the
yeah the lead up um was did don take him up with the name or were you guys all involved
oh what's that laguna that's like that's like his company that's like his brand
oh really he's been kind of doing that with so he has a little studio down there and he's calling
out like a laguna studio that's his little office so it's like hit you know it's his thing really
oh gotcha um and then uh i came in it was funny like i rolled i did um i did like a little b-line
drive on friday and i rolled in with all my stuff kind of like framed i had like six i had a whole
like corner i had like 16 pieces on the wall like 24 by 20 pieces or whatever and then i had a bunch
of pieces like little small pieces on the kind of like sitting on the table kind of thing and i
rolled in at four kind of thinking i'm like a dirt bag kind of like um showing up late the day before
to put all my stuff up and i roll in everything's all frame matted and everything i had worked
out you know i had done it all and i roll in i'm like feeling like and i and they're like oh which
one should we print like you know they haven't printed it yet they hadn't even done shit they
hadn't done anything dude oh my god i got these guys i'm like dude uh yeah so artist man you can't
rush art dude yeah so yeah art life i had i had all my shit together and they were still like
putting stuff up at like the show started like uh noon on saturday and they were still putting
stuff up at like one but you know it all it all worked out it's like yeah some learning experiences
you know it's all again yeah next time around though they know what it takes and when also like
he got that space and then wanted to do this archer like before he'd even yeah you know yeah
it's a cool little spot so it's cool yeah that is a neat little area it's got a little it's cool
it's like a little terrarium dude it's just all glass you know so yeah yeah it's all these little
offices in this cool building and there's like a playhouse that does you know music and plays and
stuff and yeah it's cool um yeah i'm sure you've been down in that little area right there is that
where the chinese place was yeah it's a little the little chinese place you see the lantern now it's
full steam dumpling and yeah i'm back in there back in the day it was india joes oh yeah back in the
old day back in my my back when i was a little kid my parents go to india joes dude i'd never
liked that place as a kid i mean i don't i don't even remember i just remember they would be like oh
yeah we're going it's just rice it was just like the rice dishes i can make at home now you know
and then i remember that place moved to the over where um front street patagonia is yeah oh over
there yeah yeah it was there matt chewer says are you team attached or detached garage he says i think
the dream would be a two-car detached garage in the backyard with a long gated driveway on the side
that leads up to it i'm team both i want a two-car garage for the dailies and then i want a separate
barn shed situation which i've already loved that dreamed about because i want that to be like a
space away from distraction and private and quiet kind of thing like not quiet for me per se but
quiet for the house as well and ideally this is a huge garage that holds multiple cars and be
across the way from the property that kind of thing all right check it out so for me my main
like my main garage where i just park my panel like the cars i drive most often detach but
a little breeze away i like that i love that especially for here and where art lives like
we can get away with that all year round but i do like the separation of space
that's my my thoughts well also it's not like fully attached but because i like the aesthetic of a
house without a garage you know not not like the you know yeah yeah i know it is a thing right i mean
as you're looking at it architecturally like now you're adding this door right and like this thing
and for sure i'm just going back to warren's thing though like i agree 100 percent and it also
has to do with how you set your stuff up right so like whereas like you know the garage that's
attached to your house it's more just convenience in and out keep it super minimalist basic nothing
on the walls you know like whatever no tools minimal tools maybe a small toolbox and and
then that's also storage for shit that you need access for the house right like eventually you
might need that christmas shit or holiday stuff versus like your shop where you have like your
heavy duty stuff and like you have all of your tools and a couple lifts would be the dream and
all that kind of stuff right like yeah that would be that would be the move for sure at least the
way i think last one here walter m woods is hi y'all we're gonna do walter forever i know can i get
a shout out for my four-year-old daughter mia that listens to the show with me mia you're awesome
mia you're rad you're the future your dad's rat mea hopefully you get to drive around in fun cars
and listen to this podcast i want a question for mea sorry for all the bad words yeah mia should
ask us a question i want to me a question oh that's good yeah yeah next week mia come up with a
great question and mia do you like your dad's mustang or his Porsche better oh doesn't even
say he's in there oh or the Mercedes let's throw that one in too yeah yeah yeah tell us what's your
favorite car period let's hear it oh yeah what's her favorite car yeah all right that takes care
of questions tribute time you guys good i have one quick update oh yeah yeah yeah yeah so just
project car so i have the the e 30 running great everything's cool now idle wise all that shit's
done but i did decide that i need to put a cat back on this after driving it up north and back
and just and then idling in town with the windows down you know all that as you like
come to a stop you know like all that how that air just comes right into the cab again and like
i can't hang dude i can't do fucking exhaust fumes and nasty it is it's gnarly right it's gnarly so
i'm so stoked because the as we were talking about the right now the way that the the exhaust is set
up i couldn't fit a cat and a resonator which it needs to eliminate that rasp right now like it's
has a very large resonator with no cat and just the muffler and allegedly but you had to basically
choose but i found a cat that flowmaster makes that's really short it's eight inches long
with the flat with the actual tubing so the centerpiece is even shorter like the actual
cat piece and it's very low profile super slim and it's like the nicest way you can buy to
stainless steel really nice i found one on ebay and it's getting shipped to me from washington so
that one will work i can actually i i talked to my exhaust guy down here and we can put it in front
of the resonator and basically push the resonator back and eliminate this like um flex point flex
joint we don't really need it based on how the pipe bends there and so long story short is i can
add a cat to the setup which not only helps with the stinkiness but it also will quiet it down even
further and eliminate rasp more which is huge so i'm so i think i'm dangerously close dangerously
close to become a thing now um to um solving my exhaust was and maybe even keeping this one even
though it's a little too low i had him the exhaust shop actually did raise it with the new exhaust
mounts that are the new hangers that he put on there last time so i do have a little more
clearance which has been helpful um but um i think if this might be my solution and i might not
have to go and reinvent this exhaust wheel we'll see what this looks like but um i'm excited to
try this and also i got to say man um it's isn't it nice just to like order parts like it's nice
to get parts i don't know about paying for the parts but like when they arrive you're like
yes now i have it's just it's such a it's such a great feeling and um another thing that i ordered
is um uh this is super silly but um i have a um it's like an alcantara dash mat right it covers
my cracked e30 dashes all of them are and the previous owner buddy mikey ordered this one um
it's a it's a nice one but he when he ordered it he checked the seat belt um the seat belt box
because you know like the early e30s have um like a seat belt warning like the e21's had
remember on the dash okay and it's and it's like a little yeah what do you call it like a little
light that the indicator that's that's kind of tacked on to the dash yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
so there's a cutout for that on this and it's small it's like a couple inches but it's like it's on
top of the dash and right i usually hide it with like a hat or something when i'm when i have the
car park because it's just like it's so lame it's like a little exposed rectangle of the
fucking dash and so i like it's one of these things were like it kind of bothered me but it
wasn't that big of a deal and i said you know what why haven't i just fucking replaced this thing so i
went and ordered a replacement with a knot without a cutout so it's totally smooth so i'm getting a
new fresh dash mat to go on here i'm very very impressed by this dash by the way nice what
were you gonna say or i thought lane was gonna say something oh no i was i did something similar
where i had these uh camping curtains that go over the vanagin door windows and you only use them
when you're sleeping in the car but i had been gifted these for my sister but she got tan and
she's like i didn't have gray and i was like okay and it was like a khaki it wasn't like terrible
but doesn't match the car at all and and it's so like superficial you know functionally they're
the same but i was like you know what i'm just gonna get the right ones like i don't sleep in
this car very often but when i do it's going to be the matching set so it matches the the curtains
match the drapes or whatever carpets all right nice all that stuff it's pretty fun it's a good
time yeah what i one thing i was going to say about this is um i i'm very impressed with this
specific one i'll i'll tell you what it's called because um yeah it's it's been on the car for
seven years or so and it hasn't faded at all which is like really impressive for an alcantara
unbelievable yeah i'm really surprised it's really impressive i mean this car as long as i've
owned it has always been garaged you know so like that helps i'm sure but like but it's a it's um i
think it's a cover craft it's by cover craft and they do um this this style um dash mat in it and
it's whatever their brand of like alcantara is called it's not alcantara it's like it's like
micro suede or something it's um it's called a suede mat so it's it's suede and then capital
mat and um yeah it's really nice how do you secure it to the dash is it like velcro tape
yeah velcro tape yeah yeah but it's really impressive like how nice like they do a really
good job it's cut perfectly like the in terms of like the size and how it fits on the dash it's
really clean um and also the material is really nice i gotta get a mat bro yeah i mean i know and
i'm this is you know unscathed land is like your dash is this deep it's two inches dude yeah you
like touch it with your hand you touch it you can touch the windshield when you with your when your
hands on the steering wheel that's the craziest yeah i do like that that's what makes those cars
feel like you're very got great visibility yeah same with a yeah mercedes of the era are the same
right they're very close all right sure of your time it's trivia time um recently there's been
a recall for um i'm trying to figure out how to do this uh what truck has been recalled for airbags
the problem isn't only that the shrapnel comes out of the airbag when it goes off like the
kata recall it also does not register in the dme that an airbag has gone off so oh cool it's
really nice for used cars it is not detected in the stored codes oh that it's had an airbag
incident what truck is it i'm gonna go to the dodge product dude that sounds like a dodge dude
yeah dodge ram yeah ram huh i just saw something god shit right there a dude like sorry me instagram
reviewer of the dodge products was doing sort of like an off-road just dirt road i should say
and he's done this with all the trucks he's reviewed and the airbags went off on their own
blasted him in the face curtain airbags the whole deal he had blood on his forehead
took it to the dealer to be like what the hell and they're like they plug it in and there's no
code stored nothing that says that this has happened so not only is it insanely dangerous
then you could buy a car that's used that's had airbag deployment without any record of it
which means accident so which means accident yeah so now you're talking about a car that
has no record of an accident yeah it's uh that's pretty gnarly it's pretty gnarly so there's a huge
recall for these trucks don't buy a used dodge unless you know the seller or something i don't
even know yeah although in this case it sounds like he didn't even get into an accident which is
even worse no that's probably like it was like it probably got airborne a little bit or or dynamically
something happened where freaked out it's like oh you're about to crash so like exactly and i know
so another car that did this a new Mercedes that he hit a large pothole and the side impact airbag
deployed but you know that's all like recorded and it's at least it's something you can sort of
like blame this is not that at all and the guy said that wasn't the first time
so that's i will do and i will say i drove my brothers from 2023 dodge ram da da da
home from you know to home from the airport the other day i gave him a ride to the airport and
back and that truck man it not the i don't know not that great dude like you know i mean it's just
like i rented them there it felt old dude it felt kind of like yeah they just feel like not great i
like that dude not that said i feel like new new Chevrolet trucks are really nice like they've
really stepped up their game the interiors are way nicer like the fit and finish is really impressive
like i've said i haven't driven a few suburbants and there and trucks i i rented um for the last
radwood norkel i had a news whatever silverado i guess you know like truck um and it was yeah
they're really nice the infotainment system is really intuitive um they're plenty fast they're
they handle pretty well like for what they are and they also the interior the quality of the
interior has been ramped up dramatically like versus the previous generation i mean yeah that's
saying a lot because gm's i've been a little bit behind the aphelon rather than yeah well i think
they they're there yeah they're it's it's pretty solid and i can see why like you know certain
places they you know you hear like you know like like yellowstone or whatever right like they talk
about like how everybody has a tahoe there and like all these super wealthy people it's like yeah
this is plenty of fine for this purpose it's literally the only car i use or this car is only
used here they're great spacious it's comfortable it's luxurious enough you know it's great for
weather motor and yeah those are solid pretty legit yeah i'm down this last question
rumor has it that this iconic sports car is changing to a hybrid platform next design change
m3 negative dang sports car or what sports car is left
um
and it's like on it yes sir corvettes already done it yeah Porsche has already done it
yep um but
miata that is correct what there are rumors that the next miata will be a hybrid
weird i just hate this stuff i know you could make it like a very small hybrid system and
all this but why why adding complexity yeah what are we like it's and yeah like what is like
that car is a very specific type of experience right like it's like it doesn't yeah there's no
need for that it's all it should be add lightness not add fucking complexity right or have two models
i guess you know but they're not a big enough company to have a whole model line of hybrid like
Porsche has added adds models right they have the hybrid yes yes but i don't think miata can
pull that off and or mazda and make make money like a whole production line for a completely
separate car with like totally different you know drivetrain and transmissions and it just doesn't
make i feel like you know that maybe maybe that's an rx seven proposition or something you know
like this performance oriented thing and like still make it a manual and yeah but like um but
yeah the miata doesn't make sense to me it's like it's like it's like a hybrid elise like that also
doesn't make sense right that's it's does this thing so well and they sell so many cars with
manual transmissions and it's like the the last one that they're really doing well down to even
the styling and uh just don't mess with it it's also interesting where i was just going to say
cost to totally and we're at a weird crossroads with these electrification of fleets and incentives
from government and such that i don't know it feels very like we're about to see some
interesting changes in like new new cars coming out there's going to be some models
that are dropped and and moved around and stuff so but it's also like yeah it's weird because
it's so politically driven also right so like this could swing the other direction again totally
totally so that's why like the yeah yeah autumn like the oems have a really really difficult task
right now and i know the portions like trying to figure out their came in situation and that's
oh yeah continue to happen um yeah it's uh it's messy for sure um it seems like at least you know
the rest of the world has consistency right like you know yes like sales ev sales are
quote down in europe but they're still significant and they're and that's still trending as the most
popular right china's obviously you know ev sales have surpassed you know ice engines so
and that'll continue there so i um i think yeah we'll see what happens with us i mean long term but
but that's the thing there is no long term it's like you like you're saying you have a few years
here and there that you have to comply with these regulations and then some new thing comes out and
well yeah i mean i'm thinking eight years right versus what's immediately in front of us yeah so
even immediately like there's talk of you know dropping the id buzz portion dropping their whole
lineup that they basically have ready to go i don't know id buzz was dropped i thought they were
just on hiatus i think it's fully dropped right or well they're going to take a year off right
because they're not selling them and i think they're reassessing but that could be like they don't
come back so the range on that thing they fucked up it's not good right it's like too low yeah
and that's like that's like five years ago range right right and then i wonder especially for a
family hauler like companies like rivian and lucid and what how they're thinking about it all like
it's a it's a tricky navigation yeah so it's portion totally i keep here i i see all these
headlines and you just can't like i i hate all the sensationalized like headlines these days
about everything and you can't trust anything you read you know it's pretty fun uh huh it's so it's
so annoying dude like it's great i watched like emmy or whatever it was the other like a few weeks
ago or month ago and it's like the like sensationalized reports about that the day after with eliza
schlegender whatever i think it was live right it was like it was such bullshit like the fake
reports of people being mad that weren't even mad and stuff and it's like it was so annoying but
like anyways yeah it's just like fake fake news right but is Porsche reversing the electric
came in and boxer or does it look like it no it looks like i'm reading this is an article on the
drive this is a few days old okay that outie indirectly confirmed the electric Porsche
boxer and came and will live and the e b sports car platform isn't going anywhere
because i keep seeing reports it's like it's like porches abandoning the electric they're going
back to ice you know so i think they don't know i like this well yeah exactly the last report i
saw said that they they're the leadership was meeting days ago to decide what to do and i
guarantee you they don't have a great answer and so you got to weigh the investment you've already
made versus are you going to lose all your money producing the cars and cut your losses or just
keep going with the strategy and see how it all pans out but well here's some here's another detail
which makes sense why they think that it would survive if outie is on board with this because
they would share a platform so apparently the next generation tt is going to be all electric
and it would share the platform with the Porsche came in that's what they said is that outie is
going forward with it but that's a different market that's a different customer so in a different
case use case i mean they're claiming that there is no outie tt without the came in
because they need that like like volume for a volume like you know and economy is a scale
standpoint and all that so um it does have yeah interesting i mean i i i mean it's a it's it's
an interesting one i don't i i i guess you would like to think that this is what fascinates me you
would like to think that these companies have done it enough like market research and they know
their customer enough that they feel that this is a sellable thing and it's like yeah but they were
also being forced to do it for a little bit there right it wasn't like market research it was like
being forced you know the by 2030 to right the euro laws yeah yeah yeah yeah but it's like it's also
is there an angle here where they see hey like the way that our our standard came in sell like
the non rs models or whatever they keep the rs as an ice engine like they're doing with the gt-3s
and then you know the the ev came in would do fine i don't know like i i i yeah that's that's maybe
the assessment there or the way that they've like they plan to do this um and it's like
based on you know the the target customer um they would be fine with such a thing and um
i feel like if the one sort of like kind of silver lining here if you can call it that is that
maybe it's going to take Porsche to do this to like build the right execution of like the
manual transmission ev with rev matching and sound and all that and i feel like if anyone's
going to do it right like i mean obviously hunday's already done a pretty decent job like
i feel like Porsche could execute it well well in the first like proper sports car if you don't
like right you don't count the first the first tesla right um yeah yeah i mean yeah but if they
can do the the gearing thing right like if they can do like you know actually like you know a shiftable
yeah fun little you know ev sports car um yeah this they're the ones to do it um i guess toyota
might be able to pull it off to in like an mr2 kind of fashion but um but maybe it will take this
to to to do it right and then maybe we'll get one over to a certain extent i mean it's a different
experience obviously it's not the same thing but the one thing electric cars have i was just thinking
about it when you were talking about that is like for driving hard is like that engine breaking is
pretty nice dude oh yeah you get used to that really quick yeah for driving hard like it would be
pretty good to like hustle yeah i could see that it's like having you know a manual would like
you know sticking in the gear yeah being in the right gear and having that really nice engine
breaking but you have it you would have it even in a higher gear it has that you have that safety
net and almost yeah right and also i mean it's kind of interesting to think that in that environment
you're you're also possibly extending the experience right like in terms because you're adding you're
adding as you're going through and like of course you're using a lot of power to get into the you
know as you're driving but also you're very hard on the braking in the region so i can see that
extending the range quite a bit right yeah i could be doing too where it's like you prolong your
driving experience which is kind of interesting to think about yeah until you have to sit for
half an hour and change the thing i'm curious to see obviously like at this point like you know i
think we're all in agreement that it isn't necessarily what we're seeking out but i'm
curious to see how the market responds and yeah and actually trying one out and and see how that
evolves but it's not i just don't think it's the right move for them to like completely eliminate
the ice engine in that category so i feel like maybe because they see that they obviously sell
rs and the the top of the line models like hotcakes and those are in super in high demand so
you continue to do that and that's like your your performance like ultimate experience thing
i'm sure there'll be a cayman ev turbo or whatever that's also very fast but it's not
it's not the same thing you know but it's easier to say that than like how much money has gone into
like developing an ice only chassis and all this kind of i mean sorry uh sorry electric only chassis
but if out he's doing it that's where it goes right it's like if out he already has enough of
like if like oh yeah sure if they share 70 percent of the componentry and and platform you know and
now they had expenses significantly reduced on the Porsche side and for sure so um yeah
yeah all right well those are some thoughts good angela trivia you guys got it we'll see
you
