One would hope. One would hope. Yeah, I wonder. I don't know if Warren's actually doing any car stuff at all. I kind of told him to hit up Clark. I know he's going to hit up Clark, but I told him to at least go to like the, like that Sunday cars and coffee thing over by the Fat Burger somewhere.
Maybe go to that. He would probably like that thing. I don't know if you'd like, you know, and then, you know, maybe go swing by Diacoco. I don't know.
Yeah, I got to give him some tips. Yeah, there's also some really cool like scale model shops that that I feel like Andrew would really like, you know, so it's like since he's traveling with the kiddo and his wife.
So I feel like you also, there's some good little side adventures from, from that area. And yeah, there's some other family specific stuff that's not car related.
I just like, yeah, we didn't even get a chance to really sit down and talk about it. So I'm going to send them some unsolicited advice and you can kind of take it for what it's worth.
But yeah, that's, that's, that's exciting. I mean, just as you said, I wish I was there and we could all do cool shit together, but soon.
Yeah, yep. Yeah. He hit me up about like watch shopping because he wanted to go to Nakano about Nakano on Broadway, which is I don't know if you've been to Nakano on Broadway.
No, it's that I don't even know. It's like a, I would say it's like bubble era mall. Okay. Kind of indoor, outdoor like the main strip is kind of indoor, outdoor.
And then it has like, it's like four stories tall and it's like, there's probably like 30, 30 plus watch shops in there, but there's like tons of other stuff too.
Like on the bottom floor, there's a little grocery store and there's, you know, sushi spot and kind of food everywhere. It's very like it has like the, I don't know how do you explain it?
Like the paper mache, fucking balloons everywhere. Kind of, you know, it's very like festive looking. The whole mall, mall thing. Yeah, but it's a pretty famous, pretty, it's a very famous spot.
Yeah, I don't think I've been there. Yeah, I've been, there's a lot of those types of places, right? Like the, like the covered mall, like the, what do you call it?
There's a very specific term and I'm completely spacing right now because I have had zero coffee today, which is really, I don't know what you call them.
I don't know what you call them. There was one of those in Sendai. I went to like this, but way bigger in Sendai. Yeah, I'm just thinking of like the same concept in Italy. They call like the Galleria and Milan and it's like, you have like, it's like structures that and then you have streets
and among them and the, but the between the structures, it's covered. There's, yes, exactly, exactly. Yeah, and there's usually like what like this one and the one in Sendai.
It's like one strip has covered and then all around it is kind of like right little streets with restaurants and stuff like that as well. But yeah, I think it's like straight up like that. It's like, it's a market, right? But yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's cool. We don't, we don't really have it. We don't really have that around here, I guess. Right? Yeah, it's not really a thing. Cool. Good stuff. Yeah, so I mean we just came from a pretty epic weekend in Austin, came back from rather.
Yeah, I mean, dude, Radwood Austin 2025, my first time there since 2019. It was the last show I went to before COVID hit us. No, did you go 2020? That was it was in February, right? Is that the one that you went to?
Oh, that's what I mean. Yeah, February, February 2020, right before like weeks. It was literally like two weeks before or something three weeks before because that's right. We were going home and we were rallying right away and that was the infamous COVID rally. Yeah, okay.
Yeah, so that was the, that was the driveway. That was when we were, when we still owned Radwood and everything. Yeah, that was our last, last show before COVID. And I remember talking to the, remember that one lady was there with her Jeep?
Like she was like a big part of South by Southwest and we were talking about doing that and yeah, there was all kinds of stuff. Yeah, South by Southwest. Just think about that during COVID.
I know she was like all in and we were talking about some collab thing. Yeah, but yeah, so, so yeah, you guys, we all kind of flew in separately. You guys were obviously doing the whole show. I was just there to hang out, take some photos.
Dude, what do you think how to go?
It went great, man. It was definitely our most well attended Austin event, not the most cars because of the venue, right? It was venue limited. So based on what we had to work with, which was a, you know, what's the word I'm looking for here?
The space itself was the same, it was the same venue, but we had construction in about a quarter of the space that we used to use or that we've used. This is our fourth event, that Coda.
So, you know, we had, we had to limit the amount of cars because of that, but, but I mean, it was packed. It looked great. And it was also, we were being sensible, right?
Like Warren, I went back and forth like almost on a daily basis, like, like remeasuring and measuring and remeasuring and placement and like, dude, it's like, can we fit this many cars?
You know, and so on the flight over to Austin, I rehashed the space around the chill zone tent. So like that on the other lawn and I just kind of reconfigured the layout and was able to squeeze in another like 25 royalty cars.
And we just stuck to it and it worked out well. I mean, I think it was a, you know, the show looked really good.
Aesthetically, it was, I was happy with the flow considering you have two very separate areas, which is a tricky thing to connect, you know.
And, you know, I think our partners were happy. The flow again was key, especially like, you know, getting people through all the different, like, you know, like Toyota activation and like the mobile one thing.
And so we were able to create some nice paths for people to kind of cruise around in and check everything out.
So, so I was really happy from like a show standpoint in terms of like, you know, what we put on, we did have some logistical issues.
Unfortunately, I mean, it had nothing to do with us. It was our ticketing vendor.
It basically crashed and we had a ton of traffic to the site and it was just a big one.
So it was one of our biggest issues we've had with just like dealing with ingress of people.
And we managed it and we did our best to try to like accommodate as many people as possible and ended up doing a discount towards the end there for folks that came in at the very end and waiting forever to try to stoke people out.
But so far, the feedback has been super positive and, you know, despite that, people are stoked on it.
And like, I think we did a very good job this time also.
We were sort of experimenting with like different paid marketing than usual and we got a lot of new people, which is, which is great.
And, you know, a lot of new and a little bit of both, but it's always nice to like, you know, have a lot of introduced people to the concept.
And a lot more folks who were there as attendance that weren't necessarily car people, but we're super stoked.
Like, you know, just from like lifestyle and things that nature people that are like, there's this woman who approached me and she writes.
She's a writer, an author, I should say, and she wrote.
Oh yeah, I saw.
She wrote a book called Ultimate Mix Tape and it's like a trivia, like an 80s and like 80s trivia book, which is pretty sweet and it's all music centric.
And then there's another one that's like a kid's book. It's called The Day We Found Yesterday.
You can't see anything. It's like blurring it out.
Yeah, but I did. I saw it in person.
Yeah, but it was really, really well done.
And, you know, just folks like that, which was really cool.
And yeah, I mean, I think, you know, it was a very successful event for us, despite, you know, some operational hiccups and
so that'll be like five.
What were the final tally numbers like 530 cars or something?
No, no, it was we've had that before when we had the full footprint.
This time it was like 435 or 35.
I was thinking it was 530.
Well, yeah, because so driveway, I thought we had close like 700 cars.
We did.
And then you think this was better attended than the last driveway show?
It was.
Really?
Yeah.
Back then, I mean, it was it was big for us at the time.
We did something like 3400 people, which is typical of Austin.
Like that's our norm.
Yeah, but I thought we did more than that.
I thought our numbers were higher than that.
No, we had a lot of cars, though, because we were able to park them on the track,
like all around the track.
Yeah, then was that 30?
I don't think that 3400 was accounting for all the people in the cars.
Maybe I don't know.
Yeah, this this time around.
So this was confirmed around 4200 people, which is which is our biggest Austin show.
So yeah, it was it was great.
I mean, it felt really good.
And it was, I mean, in terms of, you know, it was, um, but, you know,
what's the word I'm looking for?
Energy.
Yeah, because it was like everywhere you went, there were a lot of people,
but it wasn't super packed, right?
So you still like, you know, move around easily.
You still got good photos of the stuff.
And like, yeah, it was it was really great, man.
I mean, like the vibe of solid is always, you know, our events are,
are known for that.
And we attract, you know, people who are just there to have a good time.
We're pretty laid back.
And, you know, it's not a super pretentious scene.
You know, it's just like everyone's there just to have a good time.
And, um, and I, you know, probably the most families we've ever seen,
I think I come out of at an event like there were so many kids.
And we do have, we do take account for some of that in advance.
So when we, when you register, we have a free 12 and under ticket.
And we request that you RSVP for that.
And we had by far the most kids based on that number.
And then on top of that, all the day of, right?
So, um, which is great, man.
I mean, I think, you know, moving forward the goal is what this has always
been a thing that we've been trying to strive for.
But now we're finally in a position with the right people to support us
to have also more like kid friendly activities at our events, right?
So incorporating a lot more of that.
And we had a little bit of that at SoCal, which you saw, um, you know,
with, um, I don't know, well, maybe with the imagery,
but not in person, but, uh, we had obviously like the youth judging award,
which we did at NorCal as well.
Uh, and that went really well at SoCal.
Uh, and then also, uh, like the, the Peterson museum had some kids activities
to like, you know, some crafting and drawing and things like that.
So we want to continue to do that.
And, um, there's also some other ideas around right along experiences
and doing more like kind of wheels and motion stuff.
So that's all like actively being planned right now.
Um, but, but yeah, I'm really happy with the result, man.
I think we went out with a bang and, um, glad you were able to come out
and check it out and obviously shoot it because, I mean, now we have that
awesome content for that venue. That's right.
TBD. What were the highlights for you? What were the highlight cars for you?
Um, dude, it was, it's, it's, there was just so like so many good ones.
I think, um, so I would say Vector W8.
Well, that was our, yeah, Radisson show is Vector W8.
Um, we can go down the list real quick. I do have it, so it'd be easy.
I know we usually do a little recap, um, uh, breakdown of these mofos, but, um,
Well, you have the mercury cougar four door that won time warp award.
Yeah. Which is our preservation award. You know, that's a car that's
perfectly original, uh, and yeah, and also usually it usually goes to a car
or truck that is kind of like the, why would this ever be preserved?
I think a lot of times because it's, it's like, it's not rare to see a
perfectly preserved 9 11 or a Ferrari. Exactly. I mean, that's very common
place, right? They're, they're usually nice, but, uh, this is a car that
for one who knew that they made a four mercury cougar four door.
Uh, that just looks like any other basic early eighties American car.
Uh, and then why would this thing be preserved at all? Yeah.
It's, they're super. Yeah. It's a, it's a trippy like Fox body based thing
that looks like a kind of like a, like a grand marquee a little bit
like of the era, right? But like not as big. Um, yeah.
So yeah. And that's, that was, I think exactly what you said, right?
It's a perfect example of a car that's obscure, but also not super valuable.
And, um, like I can't believe that this still exists, right?
Like, uh, and that's, that's a, that's our time warp.
So, uh, rad is accessory and this is, this can go to anything from
like a really rad set of wheels to a decal kit to a super Nintendo,
you know, setup. Uh, and this went to bringing two kids and a
Santa separate car and another and a little car. Yep.
And so we, it was not just the mud cuts, dumb and dumber van.
Uh, he also brought a family truckster with all the movie like bits.
You know, he had all everything in the roof rack. Um, and
grandma on the roof, grandma on the roof. Uh, he had, uh, the license plate
with a license plate frame. Like, I mean every, every little bit,
like all the details were there and, um, and his kids were rolling
around the show and a little mini mud cuts that must have been like
a Barbie Jeep or something that he covered in, in the, the fur,
and it was perfect. I mean, it was very, very well reserved.
And there were some, they were, they were dressed in the orange
and baby blue tuxedo. That's right. Like the, with the top hats.
So they were the two daughters were dressed like that. Yeah.
I mean, almost impossible to beat, right? Like there were,
and there were some really good ones. I mean, there was like,
you know, lots of BMX shit. Like, you know, of course, like naturally
you get a lot of that type of stuff, you know, and then you have
some really cool and just like ephemera memorabilia with a lot of
these cars, but this one, I mean, the, the, uh, the Cougar four door
was like full Tupperware it out. So that could have won accessories.
Yeah. He had all, it was all like Tupperware, everything. Um,
Mustang GT, uh, for the rad mod, it's this dude time Fox 88 on
Instagram. Uh, and it's basically like the epitome of what this award
is. So rad mod is our version of resto mod. So modern components
in a Radwood era car, but like he did that, but it's all like
retro styled, right? And so he had like, like the big like
aero fans on the wheels and he had that like classic jazz.
Is it solo or Dixie cup that design? I forget it's, uh, it's Dixie.
Yeah. Whatever it is, but it's jazz. I know it's called jazz.
That specific design with the little squiggly lines and, um, and it's,
and it had a, um, on top of all the aesthetic shit, cause the
wide body and like the, all the upgraded lighting and all that.
Um, he had a Barra swapped, which is a swap, rather not swapped,
which is an inline six dual overhead cam inline six out of
an Australian Ford Falcon. And this is a turbo motor that is known
like the two JZ and, you know, and, and these engines to like
basically take like crazy boost and make a lot of power.
Um, and basically he has it set up as a drift car right now.
Like he, if you look, if you follow him, or if you check out his feed,
you'll see time Fox 88. Um, and super nice guy, the coolest dude
drove down from Oklahoma, uh, and the car is really well done.
I mean, it's like to a very, very high standard.
All the details are there and like it's really well executed.
Um, and he said that it makes on the conservative, like pump gas
tune, uh, it makes like 550 horsepower and 770 foot pounds of torque.
And then on the race gas tune, he's like close to a thousand foot
pounds of torque and like, and like 690 horsepower or something.
And he's just like, he was basically telling me how it's like, it's
like diabolical, he said. And like in terms of the, how the
freaking turbo like kicks in and it's like a massive turbo on
there. And, uh, but it seems like a blast and, you know, very well
deserved. Uh, the truck award went to the, like one of the nicest,
if not the nicest Ford F 150 lightning, like an existence.
Did you see that thing? The black one? Yeah, the black one, the
first gen. Yeah. It's so nice dude, like impeccable.
Um, and he said that he autocrosses it.
Oh wow. Okay. Yeah. And it looks fully, fully stock too.
I mean, it has the stock seats and all that stuff.
Yeah. Yeah. That's kind of gnarly. So he says it was so clean
black. Yeah. And to keep a black car. I mean, this thing was like
brand new and had a bed liner in it that was like perfect condition.
It was like, I mean, that thing was super clean. Yeah.
By the way, Radis truck, there was a few cool things too.
Like there was a Dodge truck down on the lawn by the lake was
rad. Yeah. Be extended cab one. Yeah.
There's obviously the ramp truck that was towing the Fox body
Mustang. Um, there was, I mean, I'm sure I'm missing a
little bit of that, but I mean, there was a lot of good trucks.
Obviously it's Texas. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, but it's not always the
case though, which is a surprising thing for us historically.
Like we expect more trucks with this year. They did come out
maybe cause we asked for it. We said, but yeah, there were
some, I mean, and obviously there's always like immaculate
Toyota's and it's, it's, we have to work really hard to
like avoid giving an award to Toyota because they almost
always are in contention and deserve it.
Like we want to kind of mix it up. Um, but yeah, like you saw
the Marty McFly, you know, for run or, um, highlights or whatever,
like was super, super minty. And then there was the blue one
that was in the Toyota booth was super sick. Like the really
Oh, that was like an early 80s one. Yeah.
Yeah. It was like an 81. Yeah. That thing was sick.
And then yeah. Yeah. There was a ton of good stuff in there.
But yeah, the, um, the domestic award went to another
Fox body. Um, and it was the yellow one. And it was a, I don't
know how you pronounce this in German. It's deck because it's
D E C H, but it's all caps. And he was saying how he was, he
was a tuner like a saline or whatever in the 80s and 90s.
Yeah. From Canada. And, um, and so this, this car had
the body kit and it, and it was so clean. Um, and it was
just like definitely like OEM plus looking right. Like
really subtle, but like very, very cool. Um, definitely
like of the era and, uh, the car was pristine as well.
And it was like really like nicely modified. It was on
Borbay type A's, which were those super chunky five spokes.
That was a rad. That was actually a super rad look to it for
it because it's such like a Euro wheel and then putting
it on that was so cool, dude. And then it had like black
rickharos with everything was like yellow accents
everywhere. It had custom gauge package, like deck gauge
package. And then it had this like crazy detailed sound
system in the trunk that had all these yellow accents. It
was all black and yellow. Um, yeah, the thing was
yeah. And really well done too. Right. Like not, not, not
gaudy, like really clean. Like cause yellow is hard, right?
Like that's, that's one of the hardest colors to execute
well. So it was sick yet to see that. And, um, yeah,
the, um, there was an, I think there was probably
like three other Fox bodies in the mix that were super
sick, but we were, we were, we even struggled with this
one cause we already had chosen one Fox body, you know, for
the time. And, and I don't know if you saw, but like
during the award ceremony, we made an effort to split
them apart. Like we basically, we announced one like
way in advance of the other. So it wasn't like
back to back, but, um, but yeah, I mean just super
well deserved. Um, and then the raddest import,
um, if the vector wasn't there, we were
considering doing raddest in show, even though it's
not a period correct car, but the, the, the rally
Baja, uh, 944. Um, like, cause I mean, it was just
insane. I mean, it was basically like a trophy truck
with a 944 body on it. Like just envision that.
That's not what it is, but it's sort of that idea,
right? And like, and did you see that? I don't know
if you, it's not just like a safari Porsche
or safari 934. It was like full inboard
suspension and LS and yeah, it was crazy dude,
crazy control arms and body work was insane. It was
metal. It was all lumina. Did you, um, so I went
and like looked at it up close and I was feeling it.
And he's like, yeah, dude, we shaped all of this shit.
Like it was all aluminum and the guys that built it
were super red. Yeah, really sick spoiler. So it
or Elena, we're talking about it, but like it
reminded us of like, I think it was the frog,
right? From like, it's sort of like those
cars, like that sort of vibe and just from the
color scheme too, right? Cause it had like the pale,
like pastel graphics with some like bright orange
accents and it had a Reebok like not a full Reebok
livery, but it just had like the Reebok
Reebok. Yeah. Yeah. But I mean, what an, what
an awesome car. And apparently it's very
functional. Like they use it on. Unfortunately
when they got there, it like something like
the fuel pump or some shit died. So we had
to push into position, but, but yeah, what
a wild machine. The dudes on, I think what
is it race house? It's, it's race and then
race something. H A U S. I think it is. And
this is a their first big foray, I think
into building their own things. So they're
doing it right. They're definitely
yeah. And I've never seen that car before
either. So it must be pretty fresh.
He said it that a month ago it was a
gray shell. Like so they started from scratch.
And the goal was to get it to Radwood, which
is pretty sick. I love hearing that, you
know, like super as a motivator, like
it's weird, like the destination, which
is so sick. I doubt that one definitely
could have won best in show too. Like
yeah, I think there's a point where
yeah, it's a, it's a import or it's
a rad mod. It's modern, but it's
definitely like dude, it's so rad.
It's incredibly rad. And it's just
has that presence and it checks all
the boxes, right? So yeah. And then
I think it's a good thing that they
made it for W eight Radisson show
impossible to beat for that. I mean
like especially I didn't know that
they made black ones. And this is
me either. Yeah, I wouldn't be
surprised if this was the only one
and it's the early one, the early
wedgy body style. But yeah, super,
super mint and they drove it there
dude. Like that's how sick this
collector in town has all black
cars and all of his shit works,
you know, and he uses it, which
is really sick. So I apologize
that I did not test the lighting
before for you because dude, all
of those lights were supposed to
be on and only half of them came
on and it were and they were way
dimmer than I expected, right?
Like, you know, it's one of those
things where it's like you look
in there and you're like, oh,
we'll just fire up the lights,
right? Whatever. And like I didn't
test them and because I wanted
to put those cars there for
you, I was envisioning like the
little bulbs reflecting on the
black paint, you know, like four
black cars in a in a cross
had the it was a viper first gen
viper. There was a roof
Porsche and then there was this
vector and a Lamborghini Diablo
was the Diablo black or was it
dark purple or blue or something
also. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, but it
had some flake in it or
something that made it kind of
but yeah, it was a little too
bright with. I flanked it with
white cars also. I don't know if
you saw that. So it was like a
black and white sort of vibe
silver, silver nine, six GT three
and then yeah, then black
white Testerosa black nine, nine
three turbo, white Testerosa
white Lotus Esprit turbo
but yeah, I was trying to like
yeah. Unfortunately I do I if
those those cars would have
shown way better in the light
yeah. I mean I mean it was
yeah. Well, I feel like
people were really stoked on it
in person but for photos it's
really difficult because like
really impossible because you're
shooting in a dark space and it's
super bright outside of the tent
so it's like it's very, very
difficult but it was packed in
there the whole time. I mean
people were like it was totally
packed in there. I just think
the visual would have been
without spotlighting and stuff
without like custom lighting.
I mean people were really
deserved elsewhere. Yeah,
totally. Yeah, but it worked
out so cool and it was and it was
so busy dude.
Almost impossible to get a
picture of a car too. Yeah,
people were lined up to look at
the interior of the vector
like literally there was a lot
a line form because he had the
door is open all the time or
that door and people were like
going up to it and there was
a line to like go and peak
out and then there was a
like a lot of people were like
that's like a lot of people
were like, I mean, it's like
like a lot of people were
just like, like, you know,
like, you know, you know,
you know, I know at most places
we work with like this is
always a thing and especially
if they bring cars out
but like people are respectful
you know they get it and
and it's like it creates like
a great you know that that meant
no what no line.
No lines rather no waiting in
line you have your all you can
eat buffet in there and you
have your private bar and
really cool place to sit.
So that was pretty successful
this this time around too.
It was very well used and
that's the idea right it's
like hey like, you know,
there's you go to a festival
the food trucks always want
to sell as much as they can
because it's a baseball thing
that people don't really know
but you're constantly trying
to figure out like a way to
like maximize their profit
so you don't pay minimums
and then also simultaneously
not trying to have big lines
right so yeah there's
so food trucks to the trip
have always been the trickiest
part one of the trickiest
parts of Radwood.
I still like my my anecdote
for that is the
meatball guy and he was like so
he showed up and we're like oh
there's another food truck over
there and another over there so
you're going to be here.

and then we were the taco
truck didn't show up so we had
to make a run to Costco and buy
like 20 pizzas

worked out but yeah but the
anecdote was that this guy

still hits us up to this
guy and be like hey do you guys
have a spot you know yeah
