in front of us.

Engine is still on the floor, but it's very shiny

and there's a lot more issues now with that car

that we haven't foreseen.

Must say, they have done an amazing job.

It's one of my favourite things ever, but...

It's so satisfying.

It's unfortunate on this car.

It has uncovered a lot of horrors.

So it's actually very good that we got it Ice Blasted

because had we not known it, had you taken it over a jump

or something, then it could have been very bad.

So like Taylor said, we actually don't know the fate of the V10 Tuareg.

he's probably also had quite a long amount of time spent there.

I'm currently sat looking at my V10 to our overlander.

at right now, which is, yeah, it's a mess.

It's quite a mess.

So what I've done is you even take photos like an old man.

I'm surprised he hasn't got one of those leather flip cases for his phone.

He's got all these credit cards in it.

I'm sorry, but who crashed into whose car this week?

Oh, that's another thing I've been up to.

I'll get onto that.

So, yeah, I'm currently sat here looking at my V10 to our the overlander one with the

white wheels on it, not to be mistaken for my other one that I sold.

I'm looking at five litre twin turbo V10 sat on the floor.

Yeah.

It's very clean though.

Oh, it's very clean.

It's been ice blasted.

It wasn't clean because it was absolutely smothered from head to toe in oil because it had been

gushing out of it for ages.

But yes, the engines on the floor have taken the engine out of it to fix this monumental

oil leak among many other things.

We've got some cool bits to go on it.

We've got some hybrid turbos and stuff like that.

We do, yeah.

But, since having it ice blasted, we have uncovered a massive, massive hole in the chassis leg

and turret where the suspension connects to the chassis and it's really, really structural.

And if I'd have hit a big bump in this car or a rock or something like that off-road

in, I think the front right suspension would have collapsed.

It would have taken out the whole braking system with it because it's just below the

master cylinder.

So, it's really, really lucky that we found it, but it's also catastrophically bad.

And we don't actually know if this is safely repairable because you could patch over it,

but this is structural.

This needs to be safe because the engine and the gearbox weighs so much in this car.

It needs to be strong.

So, as you will see in tomorrow's episodes, you will see the ice blasting.

You will see the devastation afterwards, not because of the ice blasting, obviously,

because there's been mud and build up there for probably about 10 years.

And at the end of that episode, yeah, we literally don't know what to do.

There is going to be a man that we phone to find out if he knows what to do because he

is like a metal expert.

Yeah.

And we've got an idea that it could be savable at the moment, but genuinely, we don't know

100%.

So, it's still actually a bit of a 50-50 or more of a 60-40 as to whether this car gets

repaired.

So I polished it out before he got in with the machine polishing.

And then I saw it, and it's not great.

Yeah, it's just a shame that we didn't get a clip of me actually hitting it.

And oh my God, that car drives like a completely different car.

And whenever I used to change lane on the motorway, I have a left or right.

It used to like skip and wobble a bit.

And I thought it had like bushes out or something.

And I put it on the ramp and there's no play in anything.

So I had Gino at Geotech up the road do the wheel alignment.

Best place in Redding.

It's really good.

And yeah, it drives completely differently.

And you know, I was thinking like a few podcasts back, a few months back now, I was in a car

Lemma and I was like, I didn't know what to get as a daily.

That is the best car I've ever bought.

Genuinely, absolutely adorable.

And it wasn't even that expensive, was it?

So I paid seven grand for it.

I bought it off my mate, Henry.

And I went with him to buy it like a year and a half, two years ago, whenever it was.

And you know, he's done a few bits to it and I've done a few bits to it.

And I know that it's a good car.

It's done 100,000 miles, 330d, ZFA, brilliant combo.

It's been mapped.

So it's nice and juicy.

And I just love it.

I love absolutely everything about it.

There's genuinely not a single thing that I don't like about that car.

If you can have it as an estate.

No, because although it is more practical and it's handy, I tend to fill it up with crap

and I ruin the interior.

Like with my F11, I used to put wheels in it and stuff like that.

And I thought, well, why do that when I had to use one of your cars?

I did it up the road where it was on level ground because where I park it at home, it's

slightly wonky, but it's all right.

I did that and then I drove it home and I went to put it in access mode and it went down

and then back up to extended mode.

So I thought, I'll just leave it.

I got out of it and I came out to the morning it was like this.

It was on the piss.

The front right is all the way down.

The rear left is all the way up and the two wheels in the middle are like, I don't know.

We messed around with the suspension because it's got new front air suspension.

We've got the tool from Eddie from TerraFurma.

They do this gap IID tool.

It allows you to actually customize.

So, usually with like a normal auto, you can change the height where it should just be

still within the tolerance of what it allows it to do.

This, you can actually tell it to sit lower by like 2 cm and then you can have like a lowered Range Rover.

But it comes in useful where sometimes, like we've put new struts on the front of Alex's

and the car just wants to sit like a massive rake.

So, we can tell it to minus off 2 cm just on the front, which we have done.

And now it's perfectly level.

It sits really nice.

It's a little bit lower than standard, but it's still got the beautiful ride.

This is what's happened to the sport because mine's had new suspension all round.

So, I need to borrow this.

So I have put in an order for an engine through just a random company on eBay who seems to

do some like refurbed engines.

And they were taking a while to get back to me on when we were actually going to get

delivered.

And eventually I phoned them up and I spoke to a guy and he was like, you're Rory from

that YouTube channel, aren't you?

And I was like, yeah.

And he's like, we're going to do the engine.

You know we can't offer warranty on it, right?

And I was like, okay.

And he's like, well, obviously we've seen that you've modified everything.

You're running higher boost, blah, blah, blah.

Those engines are crap at the best of time.

So yeah, you're not going to get a warranty with it.

We'll still give you the engine.

So bloody YouTube has bit me in the ass here.

Details of the new IM3 have been revealed.

All electric with formula.

Right, so there is a new M3 and it's fully electric.

It's called the IM3.

It's got four motors, four gearboxes, over 100 kilowatts of power.

And how much horsepower?

Well in excess of a thousand horsepower.

That's just too much.

Yeah.

So I think the concept car is like 1300 horsepower.

The good news is though, the front and rear axle can be decoupled, meaning it can be fully

rear drive at a push of a button.

You so know it's going to have that sort of like one finger drift sort of thing where

it will be able to completely control each wheel so you can get the perfect drift round

of the corner.

So what are we thinking?

An electric IM3 with over a thousand horsepower?

Have they said whether it's going to be like a complete different version or is it just

an M3 with an electric motor?

Oh no, this is full new.

You can't electrify an existing platform.

Yeah, okay.

Do you know what?

I'm not interested.

No, neither am I.

The first thing you said, a thousand horsepower is too much.

I'll literally, to get me to 60, I'm topping out at its top speed, like I know on a country

road I can use the full power of that car.

That, you put your foot down for more than a second and you'll be breaking the speed

limit.

And then at the end of the day, you've got to plug it in and that's boring.

Why on earth would you want a BMW M3 that's got the same power as a Bugatti Veyron?

Why would you want or need that?

Like, I think that's dangerous for the general public to have that.

It will have no soul, it will have no excitement, this does not, it doesn't speak to us as

petrolheads.

Yeah, and I just think the general public with realistically minimal vehicle training

can go out and buy that.

It's quite a dangerous...

And think how heavy it is as well.

Heavy cars are not fun.

So anyway, that's a big kind of thumbs down for us for the IM3, I would say.

In better news though, Alpina are now officially part of BMW Group and they officially became

part of BMW Group on January the 1st, 2026, relaunched as BMW Alpina, an ultra luxury

mark positioned between standard BMWs and Rolls-Royce following BMW's 2022 acquisition

of the brand rights.

Good news?

Yeah, I guess so.

I mean, I don't really know what that means in terms of Alpina, but I love Alpina.

I'm going to say bad news.

Do you reckon?

I have a feeling.

You know, like how Ms. AMG, how you had an AMG line, yeah, I have a feeling you're going

to start getting Alpina line, Alpina R, or whatever, where you've got a 320D, but with

the Alpina kit on it, but it's actually factory bought.

I do hope not, because I've always loved Alpina.

I think you'll still get the full fat Alpinas, but you will also get that washing down and

off the line.

Yeah, well, it's just happened something like M versions, you get the M Sport, don't

you?

You get M Sport motorcycles these days as well.

Yeah, I think at the end of the day, they run them as businesses, and the best way for

a business to make money is to allow a normal car to be able to buy the kit, but not buy

the full thing.

I do kind of miss the whole amount of effort that these companies used to put into personalising

those vehicles.

The thing that I love the most about Alpinas is how much they changed the base cars.

My Alpina B3 that I used to have, the E46, that would have gone to Alpina as a 328i,

I believe that was based on.

They took the engine out, and they took an American spec E36 M3 engine, bored it out,

put a different cylinder head on it, made an aluminium manifold, they put a different

rear diff in it, they put a different gearbox in the middle.

They changed the suspension to factory Bilstein's with H&R, Alpina branded springs.

They put 330 brakes on it, and then they put the splitters on the interiors differently

stitched.

They literally changed all of it, whereas now it's a different map.

Well, this is the thing.

Even M cars back in the day, you used to get individual throttle bodies, and you used

to get tubular manifolds, like my E60 M5's got tubular manifolds, so is your E46 M3.

Now you can buy a 550i, which is a twin turbo V8, or you buy an M5, which is a twin turbo

V8, but tuned.

Yeah.

It's just mapped.

It might have slightly different bits, but I feel like Alpina have been like that for

a while, and that might become more of a thing, because Alpinas now, although they're still

amazing, they are very much more mapped versions.

Tuned versions of already fast cars.

In saying that, though, I did find out recently, my dream daily is an Alpina D3, some Maya

30, basically Alpina version, which is a 335D, which is a twin-turbo, free-lit diesel, which

in BMW form only comes as X-Drive, four-wheel drive.

The Alpina is twin-turbo, but rear-wheel drive only.

Same power.

They must, I think, is a bit more power, so they must still change the driveline a bit,

because you can't get a twin-turbo diesel with rear-wheel-drive in BMW form.

Yeah.

So they do still change quite a lot of stuff, but I wonder if that will water down a bit.

Yeah.

Okay.

So we're on the fence about the Alpina and BMW merger, but yeah, like we said, a massive

thumbs down for the IM3, but we don't want that.

I reserve full judgment if one day I get to drive one, but thinking about it, I just think

it's too much.

On paper, it's too much.

Don't do too much.

I think it will be fun.

Like, there's no way that car will not be fun.

Yeah, probably.

It's just...

It's just very, though.

I just think it's just too much.

Yeah.

Imagine going on a track day, right, and me taking like an E46 or so, and then you've

got that.

You just be like, why is it?

You could sip a cup of coffee while setting blistering it up.

But that's the problem with electric cars in general, though, to make them, because

you don't have the noise, you don't have all the gear shifts and all that stuff, to

They are better.

They do pretty much everything better than their petrol equivalent when, like, driving

full flat out.

But they're doing it because they have to be better, because you lose that excitement

with it.

who said this, and I completely agree with it, in that cars moving forward are a bit

And realistically, the digital watch is better, and it works better in every way, and it's

But people love that mechanical aspect, you know, like collecting these.

It's a lovely product and thing to own.

And I believe that that's how the car will become.

It's such a good analogy, isn't it, because it is as well like you have to an enthusiast,

like your everyday Joe will have your iWatch, your Apple Watch, whatever, and they'll have

your electric watches.

But then if you actually are an enthusiast, then you'll have your mechanical watches,

And I just really hope this has always been my fear, and it always will be that the government

don't try and take that away from us.

They work really well for loads of people, and I've nothing against them.

I'm older than Alex, so ancient, bloody hell he must be.

There's a fossil.

Was he 77 then?

It must be about late 70s, yeah.

I came into a little money about £10,000 and had my midlife crisis.

I really wanted a classic, but personal circumstances didn't allow it.

So this money was to buy, insure, and run a car for a few years to make me smile.

I set myself four criteria.

Number one, it needs to look good to me.

Two, make me feel good sitting inside it.

Three, be enjoyable to drive.

And four, put a smile on my face every day.

The car isn't for track days, but to use on the weekends to make me smile.

I tried a few cars, Clio RS 200, BMW Z4, Freelander 2, that's a strange one,

and a Mercedes SLK 200 or 250, but found them lacking in one or more of my criteria.

Amazingly, speed or acceleration put me off some cars.

Yes, it was intoxicating, but also felt scary.

I ended up buying an Alfa Mito 140 BHP because it's reasonably priced,

cheap to insure and tax and fast enough that it doesn't scare me.

My dilemma is that my family and friends all think I jumped in and I bought the wrong car.

And now I feel like I've made a mistake until I drive it and it makes me smile.

But the constant comments make me feel like I should sell it and look again.

Have I made a mistake?

Do you know what I'll say to that is the SLK and the Freelander are very strange toys.

I don't really personally get that excited about an Alfa Mito.

They drive all right.

They've got fairly decent chassis and I don't hate the engines in them.

But crucially, you should buy a car for what it brings you and you should buy it for your own

enjoyment. You shouldn't sell it or get upset based on other people's opinion.

I mean, for example, if I were to buy a car, it does mean quite a lot to me.

When I buy a car and I bring it here and everyone goes, oh, that's really cool.

Everyone else's opinion means a lot to me, but I wouldn't sell it based on that.

No, absolutely not.

I wouldn't sell a car based on the fact that you lot hate it.

I'd be a bit disheartened by it, but it's about the enjoyment that it brings me.

If I enjoy driving it and I enjoy working on it and I enjoy looking at it, then I will keep it.

100%, I would completely agree with those sentiments as well.

He did a really just done a workout or so, and he just had this a bit of an epiphany

about living your best life. John, I will say what Jake Humphrey said.

We only have 4,000 weeks on this earth. That's like 80 years, 4,000 weeks.

If you want to buy yourself an Alfa Mito or if you want to buy yourself a Freelander 2,

then go ahead and do it because life is so short.

It really is short.

Think how quickly the weeks go by in our life.

Buy any car you want if it makes you smile to hell with your friends and family in the

The only thing I will say to John, if he likes a Mito, try a Brara.
