It's different performance.

And it got me thinking that we have given up on these
executive solutions.
They now are just in the hands of chauffeurs and Ubers.
And they've always been.

But when I was growing up, this was the top level.
This was the big dog.
You know, you have an S class of seven series.
That was the luxury and two SUVs took over.

But this in the last 15 years, this is literally for chauffeurs
or really wealthy people that are going to be driven around.

You want to.
So Alan's sugar or Simon Cowell or this is literally what
these cars are for.
This one is for the automobile, isn't it?
Yeah.
And we have to remember that sometimes that a lot of these
big cars come over and they're not actually for our small island.
Good point.
They're for bloody like these big German cars, the M5 and the
new M5 and these big.
They are literally turbo S.
They're literally for bloody autobahn.
So you can get across Germany in two hours.
Yes.
It's sort of market specific, but it ends up here somehow.
I don't know how many of these are sold.
I mean, S classes and yeah, I don't think they're particularly popular.
And the only which is interesting is whilst that might be the case and
whilst yes, people are buying SUVs, not these sort of limousines, let's call them.
In harmony, the value of this S class, I don't know if it holds well,
but they are expensive as what I mean to say.
So this car, as I say, starts 186.
I had to look online.
There are a few knocking around for 135, 250.
So they've taken a big whack, right?
They've taken a 50 ground.
But that is still quite an expensive car and even just a bog standard S
class of this new shape or new era, they're still 80, 85, 90 grand.
They're not, they don't plummet.
Like I was kind of thinking, oh, great.
I get like a high mileage like S.
Let's bomb around an S class.
Like what a nice place.
I thought maybe there'd be 40 grand by now.
No.
So they do for a two year old one.
Yeah, two or three year old one.
Not for two, but you would get a bloody six or seven year old one for 40 grand.
Yes.
I think that's that.
And so that was my disparity.
I was like, okay, I could get the old shape really cheap.
But it takes a while.
When do they just suddenly plummet?
Is it generationally?
Like when the next one comes out, will these plummet suddenly?
No, so they always like any car.
They always have their biggest fall the first three years.
And then they'll have another fall when the new one comes out.
And then they find their feet, which is probably and something like this
is a bit later than most other cars.
Because it's just the desirability of a mate.
I mean, who wants one as a used car?
There's a very small market of people that buy them.
And they've got so much money, they buy the new one.
But they care about an eight year old one.
It's such a shame because what a fantastic automobile.
I mean, visually, it's quite out there.
Lots of chrome going on and very bling bling.
But I kind of enjoy that.
But in here, we've got so much space.
Interestingly, because it's the e-performance,
i.e. the hybrid boot, not fantastic.
Because it's not an SUV, you really,
you are limited on boot space, that is for sure.
But I'd say drivability, the part like,
everything about it, it's just fantastic.
And we've been questioning what Mercedes are doing at the moment.
But I think at this level, they are still smashing it.
But yeah, because don't forget, mate,
like this car is made for around the world.
And just because we don't buy many,
I mean, there'll be millions of these in China
and the Middle East and stuff like that.
And in Germany, they'll sell a few as well.
America, they'll sell loads.
You know, just because we don't buy them here,
they obviously sell loads of them worldwide.
Because it won't make them anymore.
Yes, fair enough.
I mean, I do think globally, people have moved away
from saloons into SUVs and crossovers and things like that.
That's in general, though.
Yeah, that's what I mean globally.
Even, yeah, A6, A4, less free series,
because people still buy a lot of them normally.
But yeah, in Europe, actually, but this country specifically,
it's all SUVs now.
Yeah, yeah, you're right.
But anyway, well, don't sleep on the S-class essentially.

Because of the instant, I would imagine.
Because the problem with my car, unless you're like a two and a half,
three thousand res where you're about to sprawl the turbos,
there is a, there is a huge turbo lag on my car.
So that's eradicated.
It's eradicated.
Which probably only is it like quicker spool up and lack of turbo lag.

It's, it's instant insane performance.
Yeah.
And I really felt a similar feeling in my body
to the Artura Spyder launch that I went on.
Because it is also, it's, it's so instant extreme acceleration,
visceral, hardcore braking, turning fairly flat on a public road.
I genuinely felt like it was too fast in the coupe.
I was like, this is just because you,
because the acceleration is so addictive.
And you want to get into that performance,
you come out of a corner and you just stand there,
you're like, like, you know, it's not stomach behind you.
Like your head is forced into the, into the headrest.
It's, it's mad.
The bit that I picked up most noticeably was actually the ride quality.
So they've, because of the T hybrid system,
and then the battery in the motor, they plug the,
oh my God, can I remember the name of this?
E-E-D-H-P-C-C.
Oh my God.
Oh my God.
Electric.
Oh, I forgot there's a ridiculous name for the chassis control.
Porsche, Porsche dynamic.
So it's a PDCC, E-H-P-D-C-C.
E-H-P-D-C-C.
And then there'll be a plus version next year,
but it essentially allows the anti-roll bars to react quicker than ever before.
And I'm sure that is noticeable.
I didn't have to drive the car on track, by the way,
just to clarify, I opted out because I was like,
like, you know, I want to know what's that called the road.
So maybe it's noticeable, but it makes the slow speed ride quality really nice.
So what I gathered from it, and it felt quieter in the cabin,
it was like they take the breadth of ability of a turbo s,
down to 2.1, and it's just amplified again.
So yes, you're right, incrementally better,
but I don't know if it's incrementally.
It does feel significantly better.
But I, again, revealing everything, sort of summarized,
or at least to you, I can say what I was summarized to you.
I said too fast, too heavy.
But that is such a, and someone said to me,
like, what do you mean by too fast?

Dealers used to fit before collection in a locking system
because it's a known issue that they unscrew themselves.
So now before each drive, just tighten it up before you set off.
