Hello everybody, welcome to another edition of the Subi Scoop.
This is your host, Rafael, and this is the Subi New Podcast.
I hope you all had a great weekend.
As you may know, I was at Overland Expo Mountain West this past weekend, and I got to see
a lot of friends that I hadn't seen since the last one.
So I got to see Milton and Kerry, I got to see Troy and his wife, got to see Joe from
Subaru, got to see the other team from G7, which are the ones that helped put on the
whole thing and set it all up.
So it was really great seeing the whole team again.
I also got to meet some people in person for the first time, which was really cool.
I got to meet Betsy, who goes by Basaltic Outback, and then I got to meet Benjamin,
who goes by BMC Adventures, and then Chris, who goes by Silver Rue Off-Road.
And I'm sure I'm forgetting some other people, but it's 2.30 in the morning that I'm recording
this and I don't remember.
But anyway, I had a really good time and I met some new vendors, which was really
cool.
It started up some conversations and making some connections.
So I also got to go see Bruno and I saw Daelyn and her husband Bob, I believe that's his name.
And then I met a new guy that's working for Raika Jose, I believe was his name.
So it was cool to see the Raika team again, see the wheels that they've got going on,
and of course see the Tetons on display that I have on Pearl.
So it was an interesting day and I'll talk more about it on the full bonus episode.
We had really good weather on Friday, it was a mix of some stuff.
On Saturday we got a little bit of rain and then it got really, really hot in the afternoon.
And then on Sunday it was overcast and really chilly and windy.
So we had a really great mix of weather throughout the whole thing.
But we had a lot of people come through the booth.
I got to talk to some Subaru owners, I got them on the mic and that was really cool.
The other thing that was really nice is they had a banner for me at this Overland Expo.
In Oregon I had talked to Joe and said I think it would be cool if there was more of a visual
presence of the podcast rather than just on the sandwich board.
They had time frames of when things are going to be happening.
So they had the podcast on there with a time slot.
And then of course me walking around.
But they had a banner and then they had a sandwich board with some more information
about the podcast.
So that was really cool.
Thank you so much Joe and G7.
That was awesome.
I really appreciate it.
So we will be doing that again at Overland Expo East in Virginia.
And then if they will be making it back, if they will be making a return to Overland
Expo next year, which it's a possibility, nothing's confirmed yet, but we will look
at doing even more for the podcast to have a visual presence there.
It's also been really nice to see the Overland Expo at different venues because I've been
to Flagstaff, Oregon, now in Colorado, Loveland, Colorado, and then I'll get to go to Virginia
so it'll be interesting to see that.
And I'm really looking forward to Virginia because I will get to meet even more people
that I haven't been able to meet in person yet.
So I'm really looking forward to that.
I'm really excited and glad I'm going to be able to do that.
And this is going to be short, but thank you so much, Subaru, for having me out to Overland
Expo and allowing me to come out there and record with people and get some information
for you because I've been asking people what they think about the whole Subaru setup
there, what their experience has been like there.
I've asked people if they even knew that Subaru was going to be at Overland Expo.
And it was probably a mix of 50-50 of people that did not know that Subaru was going to be
at Overland Expo, and then a mix of people that said they did know that Subaru was going
to be there, and that's why they came by.
You also have a mix of people that are coming to Overland Expo for the very first time,
and then people that have been coming for a few years.
So it was really great to talk to those people and get to hear their stories a
little bit.
I also decided that this time I was going to get out of my comfort zone and just start
talking to people because I get in these situations and I'm really shy, and I'm the guy that started
this podcast.
I'm kind of like, you know, an influencer in a way, and I have to get out there and
I have to talk to people.
So I decided to do that, and I met some new people, and again, like I met some
vendors because I just went up and started talking to them, and it was really great.
So I really want to do more of that.
I want to do more with the podcast.
I talked to some people this weekend about doing more with the podcast.
So I'm really excited for the future.
I'm excited for where this is going to go.
It's been four and a half years.
It's time to go big, and it's time to do more.
So that's what we're going to be doing.
So I'm really, really excited for what's to come.
And I'm excited to share this journey with all of you, and I'm hoping that I will see
more of you at more events.
But anyway, that's it for this episode, this little mini-Suby scoop, because I got to get
to bed.
But I hope you all have a great week.
I'll talk to you later.
See you on next Monday's episode.
Much to be loved.
Raph.
