The episode kicks off with a shift toward user generated content (UGC), breaking down how it differs from influencer marketing. The host explains how brands provide a hook, script, and call to action, while the creator assembles the video and hands over the files. They also share that they attended Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona to record content. Between segments, there’s a quick Subaru ownership update—145,000 miles and a fresh tire rotation—plus a SubaruGear.com sponsor deal.
In this edition of the Subie Scoop I talk about my new venture into UGC (User Generated Content) as well as pulling things together from Overland EXPO West in Flagstaff, Arizona.
"[459.1s] And I ended up getting my tires rotated over the weekend, which that was right about the time to do it."
Tire rotation means swapping your tires to different wheel positions so they wear more evenly. It’s a normal maintenance step that can help your tires last longer.
Tire rotation is the routine practice of moving tires from one wheel position to another (for example, front-to-rear) to even out wear. Doing it at the right interval helps tires last longer and can keep handling more consistent.

Hello and welcome to another edition of the Subi Scoop.
It's June 1st.
We're almost halfway done with 2026.
This year is just moving by and this is, you know, I guess exciting times for some, not
so exciting times for others, but no matter what's going on, I hope everybody is doing
well.
I hope you're enjoying your Subaru and less for some reason, you had to, you know, get
out of your Subaru and get into another vehicle, which is okay.
We still love you.
We still care about you and we're not going to disown you, but I had to just throw that
out there for somebody that I'm sure he's listening.
He knows I'm talking about and of course I'm just giving him a hard time, but welcome
again to another edition of the Subi Scoop.
I don't think this one's going to be too terribly long, but I just wanted to talk about some
stuff that's going on.
You may have seen a post that I, a reel that I posted yesterday on Sunday about doing UGC,
which is user generated content that is a new venture that I have gotten into.
So I was kind of studying, studying, trying to learn about it and now I am actually getting
paid jobs, which is really cool.
So if you don't know what user generated content is, it's, it's not an influencer.
I'm not an influencer.
Influencers will work at the brand and the influencer will post the content on their
own social media page in hopes that they will get a lot of exposure for the brand and brand
awareness sales, whatever it may be, depending on what their call to action is, whether it
is click here to buy now or if it's just like brand awareness.
So the way that user generated content differs is that you still create content for a brand,
but a brand will give you, as a UGC creator, will give you a, like a hook, a script and
then a call to action and it's up to you to put it all together in a video and then you
hand over the files to the, to the brand and then they posted on their own social media
channel either as organic ads, which means it's just kind of like brand awareness, you
know, product awareness.
It's not specifically like, Hey, purchase this today, or it'll be like an ad spin.
So it'll be like specifically for an ad where you have like a call to action, like call
to action, which is like click here today, you know, get now while they have the discount
going or whatever.
So that's what UGC is.
You are a creator who is creating content for a brand and then they pay you a flat fee
to create that content.
And so that's what I'm doing now.
That's one of my other ventures on top of the other things that I'm doing and I really
enjoy it.
It's a lot of fun.
So if you want to follow that journey, you can go find me on my other Instagram page,
which is rafts.ugc.
I'm going with raft because so many, so many people in the Subaru community just kind of
automatically call me raft and it's worked out for me.
So that's what I'm going with.
So the other thing that's going on is of course I went to Overland Expo West in Flagstaff,
Arizona, and I recorded a lot of content and I this week, I'm going to work on pulling
all of that together because my goal is to do my best to put out the bonus episode on
Friday and then put out the or get the YouTube videos finished up.
But again, as I mentioned previously, this is my first time putting together a YouTube
video like this with a lot of content.
I don't have an issue like putting the videos together and figuring out what I'm going to
do, but like doing some sort of creative intro and then maybe stuff throughout the video
that's interesting and grabs attention and then like the end of the video, you know,
credits or whatever, that's kind of what I'm struggling with a little bit.
So but of course, the episode is going to be a little bit easier to do the bonus episode
that that I can achieve.
That should be pretty easy, but other than that, I'm going to be working on all of that
this week trying to pull out together.
And however it is that I end up doing it this time, it'll make it easier for the following
events and hopefully I can get those pulled together much quicker because again, it's
my first time doing, you know, long form YouTube videos, but I still have, I have some short
form stuff too that I need to pull together and post, post more stuff on Instagram, post
more reels and then post more stuff on TikTok and then post YouTube shorts.
So those will be a little bit easier, especially the YouTube shorts because, you know, they're
only up to three minutes long and I don't even know that I want them to be that long
because I think what I might do is pull clips together and make it just a minute because
with YouTube shorts, from what I understand, you can only use a minute of audio, which
kind of silly, but I guess it may, makes sense.
I've been so much of an audio person this whole time, you know, the podcast is audio
only except for at the events, I did some video.
And so this is kind of new territory for me and I'm trying to figure it out as I go
along because most of the other stuff that I've been doing, like for Subaru Gear, that's
another thing.
Like what I've been doing for Subaru Gear has been a lot of fun.
It's been very different than what I was doing before.
To be able to have products on hand to do reviews of them, I think it's really cool.
But anyway, so I'm going to be continuing to do that and I am utilizing my UGC, my user-generated
skills to try to make more engaging videos for Subaru Gear.
And speaking of Subaru Gear, I might as well just throw it out there.
Go ahead and browse SubaruGear.com, fill up your cart, you know.
Go take advantage of the free shipping because if your total is over $50 after the 20% discount
that you can get by using the code SUBIENDU2026, if your total is over $50 after that 20% discount,
you'll automatically get free shipping, which is, that's really big, that's a big deal.
So thank you so much Subaru Gear for sponsoring the SUBIENU podcast.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to create some new fun videos for products.
And thank you everybody who purchases from Subaru Gear.
I mean, this is the car brand that we love.
So might as well rep it by shopping at Subaru Gear.
Thanks again, Subaru Gear.
So hope you all have a wonderful week.
I think that's about it for now.
There's really not anything else going on.
My pearl reached 145,000 miles.
That's not like a huge, you know, like momentous or, you know, great number, but it is a lot of miles.
And I ended up getting my tires rotated over the weekend, which that was right about the time to do it.
But hope everybody is doing well.
Hope your Subarus are doing well.
And again, I hope you all have a wonderful week.
But we will see you next Monday for a regular episode.
It's going to be a good one.
It's it's another brand, brand episode.
So that was that was really cool.
I'm always excited to have a brand on the podcast.
And this one was really cool.
So thanks again.
Have a great week.
Much to be love.
Raph.
