Hello, everybody, and welcome to another edition of the Subi Scoop.
I hope you all had a great weekend.
I was hoping to have a great weekend, but unfortunately we found out some stuff that wasn't too fun
for all of us here in the Houston, Austin, San Antonio area.
So if you've been listening to the podcast for a while, you've probably heard me mention
Bastrop, which is like a really nice place to go off-roading.
And we were planning to go on Saturday.
We were trying to put together a meet-up.
I was going to meet up with somebody and record an episode in person.
But then one of our Texas Roo admins messaged and said that somebody had gone to Bastrop
like a few weeks ago or something and the cops showed up, said something about illegal
off-roading.
And we've been going to Bastrop for a few years now.
And I think it's like kind of it's supposed to be private property because there are
supposed to be homes that are developed on this lot, but it was never developed.
And so it was kind of like a gray area where it's sort of public property.
And people have been going for a long time with really no issues.
So we had quite a few people that were supposed to go on Saturday and we ended up canceling
the event because of course we don't want anybody to get in trouble.
We don't want anybody to get ticketed or have their car towed or whatever could potentially
happen.
We don't know.
We don't know.
We didn't want to find out.
So we didn't end up going to Bastrop, but a few of us did end up going to Cheeseburger
Loop, which is always nice because it's wooded, it's gravel roads, and sometimes
it can be a little technical if it's rained, which it had rained.
So there were actually some nice spots, some little bit of technical spots this time.
And so we did have a good time, but it's just it really, really sucks that basically Bastrop
has been taken away from us and that we won't get to go out there anymore.
We could potentially go if there's like just going by yourself or another car and
just say, oh, I didn't know I've been coming here for a while and never heard
anything.
With a group of people, I think there was supposed to be at least like 10 plus cars.
You've got a big group and it's not going to be good if something goes down.
And so we just, again, we just didn't want anybody to get in trouble.
So for all of you who have a lot of open public land and lots of trails to explore,
please, please, please don't ever take it for granted.
I'm not saying that anybody does.
I'm just saying that you are very, very blessed to have open land and mountain
trails and wherever it is that you may be where you have at least some trails.
Because here we don't have a whole lot.
We there's a lot of private land and we do have some places to explore.
But depending on where you live in Texas, because it's so big, like for us
here in Houston, we have to travel pretty far to get to some really, you know,
decent spots.
Again, Cheeseburger Loop is nice.
It's fun.
But sometimes it gets old doing the same thing over and over and over again.
And it would be nice if we had options.
There's Big Bend National Park, but it's like a nine and a half hour drive.
So it's not something that we can just go down for the weekend.
We would have to plan that.
I would have to take time off for it to be worth it.
So it's just been it's been, you know, a little upsetting this past weekend with
finding out about Bastrop.
But again, we did have a good time and the rain definitely helped to make
Cheeseburger Loop more fun.
So I'm very thankful for that.
And then now the episode that I was going to record with somebody in person.
Now we're going to have to do it remotely, which is fine.
That works out great.
But it's just and there's a whole story behind that, too.
That I'm not going to get into.
But I got a little confused with some things and it was kind of funny.
But yeah, so that's that's what's going on here.
And then so aside from all that this weekend coming up, there's exciting news.
You've got Boxerfest coming up Sunday the 14th.
So that's something very much to look forward to for those of you that
are able to make it out there.
Always a great event.
I've been to Boxerfest and went back in 2021.
And I really, really enjoyed it.
Had a great time.
That was where I met Bucky, a bunch of people from SOA and had a chance
to meet some other people in the community that I had been chatting with
and some people that I have now had on the podcast.
So that was a really cool event.
And I hope to make it out there again someday.
That would be a lot of fun to go out there again.
Also, if you happen to see my reel on Sunday where I posted
about Subaru gear, some of the new gear.
I went exploring Subaru gear.com and just clicked on new.
There's a lot of stuff in there.
So if you haven't been on the site in a while or if you've never been
to Subaru gear.com, I highly recommend it.
There are so many great products.
They have tons of hats.
There's so many hats now.
There's lots of t-shirts.
They've got hoodies, which I know it's summertime, but it's going
to get cool again at some point.
So lots of hoodies to choose from.
They've got stuff for kids.
They've got stuff for pets.
They've got stuff for your home, for your car, all sorts of different
products, especially under the new tabs.
So go check out Subaru gear.com, fill up your cart, use the code
SUBIENU25 to get 20% off your purchase.
And if your total is over $50 after the 20% discount, you also
get free shipping, which is really great.
So combination between 20% off and free shipping is such a great deal.
So I really, really appreciate Subaru gear sponsoring the
SUBIENU podcast and bringing this great offer to everybody.
So go check that out.
And I just want to say I'm looking forward to putting out
some more episodes.
I've got several lined up.
So we're still going with this thing.
The next one's going to be episode 211.
I've already got two 12 recorded.
I'm going to be recording to 13 and two 14 coming up soon.
And there's still people on the list, so plenty to go around.
As always, if you want some more Subaru podcast content, go check
out Dirt Subbies by my buddy, Ben.
His account is Dirt Subbies on Instagram.
He also has lifted Subarus on Instagram.
So go check him out, check out his episodes.
He's got some great guests.
And pretty soon we will be on each other's podcast.
So that'll be a lot of fun.
Yeah, go check it out and thank you all so much for continuing
to listen to the SUBIENU podcast.
I really, really appreciate it.
It's been going on for over four and a half years, which seems
kind of insane, but we're still doing it.
And I'm just so glad to still be here.
So glad to be able to attend events.
The next one is going to be Overland Expo East in Virginia.
That's going to be October 3rd, 4th and 5th.
So that's going to be a great weekend.
So if you're going to be there, be sure to swing by the Subaru space
and say hello, and maybe we can get you on the mic for a little bit.
Other than that, that's all I've got this week for the SUBI scoop.
I hope you all have a wonderful week.
For those of you going to Boxer Fest, have an amazing time there.
Much SUBI love, RAF.
