It was what can I get cheap reliable and it's not going to break down as much. Now, when I looked into It,

Disco ones actually have the same drivetrain as one of the Defenders. And we all know Defenders are

one of the most reliable Vehicles going around.

They are so, yeah, it's just one of those things that I decided to pull the pin just get something like that.

And I picked it up for 4K. Okay.

So is it a manual order order? I want a border is.

I want to go off right away. I want to go stand driving and

all that. So what is it?

So then you put your other two spare cars.

Now, I got another spare car. Okay, I bought a parts car for

it which again is another disco one that drives but it's diesel in order and a Kind of spirit. I didn't get a diesel.

I like the sound of the diesel option in Z because they drink like a fish. Those cars.

I'm not, it's actually not that bad.

It's not much more than what the inquiry is being dead serious.

Okay, yeah, I get up at the same fuel economy animal, but the, these are the only reason I like it is because that's got all the fruit on it. The problem is, this is a car's

53's. I was going to go and get one,

but it was just a simple fact that they don't off road anywhere near as good as what I'm laying over does, correct?

And as I said, I've looked into it.

I've been researching. When you've done the right

amount of mods to the Rover this a disco once especially disco one disco to had a lot more Electronics.

So there's a lot of issues with them and then it just yeah, snowballed from there. But with the Disco ones, the

right amount and the mods you can actually have a Is reliable and as capable as what an 80 Series has?

Well, I don't know that although it had a disco on at one point and like I drive that and felt like a truck drive but, you know, off-roading capabilities really good like that.

That's what I that's what they made to do.

Like, if you look at all for a capability between that and 80 series stock for stock, they're virtually the same.

Really like there's no difference.

I went off roading like that last weekend.

I think it was, we just went to let it a the four-wheel drivetrain. Sangram.

It was like night time, so, like Sunset, and the car still completely stock. Like I think I've got it all

drains on it, that's it. Stock size tires and so that I

forgot in the morning that it rained.

So the puddle was were quite deep and yeah, it's still just went through. It like was nothing and I'm just

like, yeah, I'm not going to stay tuned because I know what's going to happen. I'm going to get too cocky and

then border engines. Assault with, don't know.

So but yeah, like, that's seriously, it just been playing with that. I've already enjoying it.

I love it. Oh, well, I'm glad I'm glad.

Hopefully, it does you well, because if someone was to set of me, I've got a beamer and a Land Rover, I would look at them and be like, like, you are asking for just punishment, but from all accounts, this one seems pretty good.

I have got the r31 is safely back home and under its car cover. Yes, everything.

With the whole front end is ticked off and all brand-spanking-new as it feels real tight. yeah, when I was

driving it, it was Yeah, I mean I didn't really hit many turns or anything. I was just kind of driving it

back because like what? Six seven minute drive back.

Yeah, not very far and yeah, the steering feels a lot tighter and just hitting those bumps. It feels a lot more solid

doesn't feel like that loose kind of Wala.

We feel when you hit him some speed bumps and things like that, you kind of hit him and then and that kind of just stops. Yeah.

You don't get that while we bouncy feeling or anything like that. So that's gone.

From the front. But yeah, when I was driving it

out the the guy said, you know, you just might need to Chuck some fuel in it. I thought it's got about a

quarter. He said, you know so I just got

20 liters, Chuck didn't put that in and started it up.

Starts up first go, they called it at the workshop.

The car is called horny because when I put the original steering wheel back on again, the contact To the horn is pushed in a little bit, so it keeps keeps going.

So you know with the gets hot, it kind of expands and they've gone past the workshop. People go.

No, I can hear a horn going off. Can your workshops like, yeah,

we know getting a cloth and shoved it in between in the Gap.

There into the steering wheel, start and stop on all the time.

It's only reason I knew it was doing that because when I was driving to drop it off, I was making a left hand turn, and I just heard this like Tooting and I'm like why is that car to being at me? I'm not doing anything wrong.

I indicated what? Yeah, and then it did it again,

I was like, oh crap, it's me drove the way the rest of it with my finger inside there, to hold it out.

Driving it with one hand, it's driving get back.

Do you ever do that? We had a, we had a yeah, racecar

that nugget Nationals. We had a we had a foamer, a fake

Momo steering wheel on it. For the first time, we drove

around, we got around the corner.

We do end up getting Black Flag. The log like, dude, you were

like, yeah, we know. So we just, we just disconnected

the real life, it's just like that again.

Yes, I started up. It's still when it's cold, it's

still misses. There's a missing and I don't

know why I've changed absolutely everything I can think of.

So I think when it warms up it tends to clear or if I put my foot down, that little bit more because if I'm too, Two Gentlemen, Exhilarate, because Excel, or he's actually pretty stiff compared to any other kind of really driven.

It's pretty stiff. When I was rolling out and you

go off the accelerator, Jesus noisy and rattly, pretty sure the it's a problem with the tail shaft.

So the universal joints probably gone, and that's so that's just rattling away. Other than that, it's fine, I

mean, there's no real different wine, which they tend to have a problem. You can get a diff wine, but

mine doesn't do that. Yeah, I think it probably was

Shifting the best at first because I was being gentle an accelerator and for some reason doesn't like that.

So put your foot down that little bit more and get it going properly and slams into seconds. Just guys need to go straight

into it. But as I said I mean I'm not too

fussed about that. They've got a manual gearbox and

stuff to go in there. Anyway.

And then as I was saying in the chat, when I was driving it back, all the gauges were working.

Gosh. Okay.

Vito was working the fuel. Gauge was working.

Everything was working. I was like, what the hell

because when I was driving it there, nothing was working out again. The fuel gauge will kind of come

up and tell me how much, but then it goes back down oil pressure. One seems to work all the time.

What I think it is is what you want, cause sit for a while, like they and I'm a strong believer, this, you need to drive your car because if because, when it sits there like they go to crap. Yeah, like Well, I test I test

drive this this XJ Cherokee a couple weeks ago and it was a really clean air to enter car. The paint was a bit gone but the

rest of the couple's meant like I only had a hundred and ten thousand cases on it like something some something stupid, lo I start the car, the whole dashboard, go for driver, like this thick, nothing working on the cluster, my great, the under the other thing that was good because it's American.

Well, that's what it's been seeing this.

This cars been sitting there for the last six months, it was serviced and the owner that had it passed away.

So it's the deceased estate car and anyway, we get driving and I like your nothing's working but when the battery side because we have to jump it yet so when I bet you got when the best we've got go bit more charging it and all of a sudden I'm driving a, everything just came to life and I was like, oh, it's alive, you know, it working, and for the rest of the drivers, it works perfectly fine. So I think do sometimes like,

you know, especially if it's not getting driven as much it, you know, Terminals and things can just dry up and And just just not, not be the not contact as well as it should or your.

And the batteries aren't giving us much charge, you know, like 2:30. Also, the alternatives are

giving as much charge. So, you know, there's a whole,

but a whole bunch of things like that could there could be and it could be an issue there, but I think drop them or and you probably see it all come come back to life.

Yeah, I think so but we'll get driven be what I mean, it gets stuck out of that, you know, every few weeks and just let it run there and I don't want stuff like that.

But yeah, it's got to figure out this little Miss maybe just needs to be driven a bit more. I'll find out.

If it goes away. But yeah, I've pretty much

changed everything, maybe I'll just do spark plugs again.

This last time I did that was when I first got it.

That's probably, you know, four or five years ago, but hasn't driven anywhere. But still, I'll just say that's

a nothing to like it. Especially if it's if you

sitting there idling a cold, it's going to it's going to fill the lungs to very rich. So so yeah, maybe look at doing

a set of plugs but I think get it roadworthy first.

Get on the road, fix up that headlight issue.

And I think I think you're I think you're ready to go.

I mean, surely like they're not going to get anything else now, so I wouldn't think so. I mean it's the most, it's so

safe this car now. Yeah. 30 other cars that are

already out there on the road. Running worn-out suspension

stuff, everything gone. It's just brand-new brand-new

brakes bearings and full suspension and bushes.

Some. Come on.

Yeah, what else? I got remember I sort of flipped

a seat belt to well yes but I'm twist it.

Yeah, it was The belt untwist that belt that's going to be the main thing if I forget that one, there's instant fail.

But yeah, you did. He did some extra work to on the

past. So the front shocks didn't have

bump stops or dust covers, so he did that for me as well.

So I don't have to worry or think about that whatsoever.

Which is perfect. So that's yeah, the whole front

end does not need to be touched, lovely.

So, in other words, we're getting close.

I can I can see, I can finally see the end of this.

So, yeah, it's got, it just might be a small delay because our house is extremely close to being ready.

That's fair enough, man. That's a complete

congratulations. I just had the one of the

inspections and you know, where you go through everything, pick out all the bits and pieces to fix up and they're going to That over the next couple weeks and then we've got the second inspection. So if everything goes, well,

we'd be in like early March. Awesome.

Speaking of rizz rizz ear us updates with you my friend, how you doing? Oh yeah, yeah, we come in live

with coming live from the Kia in Nero all-electric.

How is it? It is better than I thought it

was going to be. Okay, they've it's a conversion.

Of course, they've taken the petrol engine out and put in their electrical stuff and it seems to work pretty well.

It doesn't rock as much as the MG said, it best did because that I don't think I don't think.

Kim G's heard of a suspension tune but that's, that's all that's all sorted. But yeah, it's pretty good.

It does the range. It's doesn't stand out which is

also a good thing and so I've done about 700 case and it's so far know who the last couple of days and I'll have it till the first day. And then I give this back and

pick up Mercedes-Benz eqb 350. 4matic.

So, that should be, that should be cool for a week or so.

And then I give that back and pick up the ionic, five technique all-wheel-drive. First first batch for 2023 build

cars. No years old.

That's sort of the next couple of weeks looking like bit of this key. I would be, it would be good to

see what the dedicated EV platform from pie and Ikea looks like in code. Be a week and a half or whenever

I pick the other one up. But again overall things have

been good. Every time I drive these cars

of, I always think about my own car.

I drove the MR2 virtually all week last week which was which was fun. It's actually fun being it, Bo

your daily broken, not only the lasers getting, it's a throttle position sensor TPS at that. It's been fitting.

But it's been playing up for like the last year and a half and I just never got around to it and he's like, yeah, we'll do it this week. Took it in are still working,

the parts is on back order. So the college the car just

sitting, not be able to move. So that's that's getting getting

repaired. The Scamp I started doing some

work on that. So I took the rear bar off

getting ready to to basically cut the rice out of the out of the back valence paint bhagat paint it get it ready for roadworthy then put the bar back on the forest of my sister was driving it the other day and she basically says you called me she's like a red lights. Come on the dash.

I'm like, oh God. So some, I pull over my mom,

like, I put a 10 gauge and I'm like, did you either tell me?

She's like, she's like, what's that?

I'm like the temp gauge on the side of the car.

The 10 gauge of the 10 kg, it's because it doesn't have a 10-gauge. I put one in it just like, oh,

yeah, it's 120. I'm like, get switch it off,

please. It's better to hot.

So lucky, she caught it in time. Turns out the, the radiator, top

tank, this the original 300,000 km always radiated, has decided to give up the ghost after you know, a bazillion heat Cycles.

Did the test the leak down? Testing everything, no, head

gasket issues, but just crazy because it's a Subaru and she should be back on the road very, very, very soon but that's virtually it on my end now. Gentlemen, all move on to

the ones you say if you think of that car company anything of that kind you like gear down? That was a good car.

Like I really, really like Those cars for me, for me, you know, cars at that that have been now, like so well, our cars that we still talk about on the show quite often and and cars that and comes up when you, when you go to, like when you see one in pretty like, oh, that's one of those.

Are I really like that? Like that's such a cool car.

So we'll start with you Scotty? What do you think some cars that

that companies have now, absolutely gotten just right?

I'll sinking about its and the first thing that kind of Came to mind, I guess for everyday person like us is like that extra six turbo. Yeah I would agree with that.

Yeah. I think that just does

everything you want. It doesn't look terrible.

No one can look at it and go. That's the worst-looking car

I've ever seen. You know, if it's in.

It's fine. Big sedan.

You got the power to tow things if you want to easily.

It's very reliable comfortable. It's not really many things that

could go wrong. They just keep going.

And going I just think for nailed it with that.

I mean you can tell now by the engine, everyone once the engines they're all disappearing and heading off to America and things. But it's a solid a solid car for

anybody. Yeah, it's interesting.

When for brought out the ex SX Turbo in 2002, like, no one expected that to happen. Like no, no, everyone's like,

what is this, like, you know, this is not, this is not the V8, you know that everyone that everyone came to came to know and love it was quicker than the V8.

It was more reliable than the V8.

It went harder than the V8. You know, and everyone was like

wow this Dave actually come out of somewhere and gave forced induction to a six cylinder and made it work.

Made it really Good like first hit out of the park.

I think they are absolutely right.

So it is absolutely nailed our car and with less technical than the V8 at the time to that they had.

So, one thing I've always said, Ford always know like you had to make the six-cylinder better than what Holden did.

Yeah. But Holden, you can't beat their

V8 the heroes. Yes.

I Gates American but still you can't beat that VA dealer.

So they both do what? They're supposed to do.

Yep. But absolutely and here's the

thing to like getting we're getting withholding like my first pick was when they when they brought back the manaro.

Like that's still a good. Look at that.

I thought like holding that that whole, that whole era of Holden where they had that the manaro and tool isn't forward to it.

That was a bit earlier than that.

It was the it was like it was like VT.

I think it was here, it is. When they came out, I I can't

say I was a fan of when they first brought it out without the body kit. Well, with the GTO body kit.

Oh yeah. They look tough.

things to get a CV. I had said, you know, I live in

that light blue color to a gorgeous color that that all the Sunburst orange, whatever that was.

In all those colors and they nailed the design, like it wasn't over the top. It was a, it was a good sport

car, it was a proper sports car, you know, you get what?

You know, LS1 manual manual gear change, real drive, you know, loves to get the back end out. Good proportions.

The right size, I think it's a better size in a Mustang to be honest with you. I think it's I think they nailed

the size on a dime and Ireland. I start, I'm gonna, I came into

work like a few weeks ago. And now is only look at

Mightyena. Still a good-looking car.

Like it's It just it looks right.

Like you could sell that ik would some bit more modern touches today. I reckon you can still sell it

today like it. So they absolutely nailed that

car. Like I to shame that they didn't

do it in the VF + ve series of yeah Holden because like the coop 60 if you guys remember that their concept car, that was all one the supernovas incredible.

Like the how God's eyes I love her but I actually saw a person for the first time a motorist couple years ago and just you look at it and it's just Just everywhere.

Just Beauty. It's better on.
