What has happened with me?

I bought a new vacuum, like a portable, not like a plug-in one, but it's like

a wet and dry vacuum that's sort of like a small shop vacuum and shark make one.

Anyway, I got one for like really cheap off their website.

So I thought I'd try it out to vacuum the cars out.

And it works really well on a car.

It's like as good as a car wash vacuum.

All right.

And it's like tiny.

It's like really portable.

It's got all these like really good attachments.

And so, yeah, I just vacuumed my car, my wash car, and mine had a shitload of

dog hair in it.

Sorry.

Mine had a lot of dog hair in it.

And it did a really good job of, you know, getting rid of that stuff.

So cars are nice and clean on the inside at the moment.

So it's nice place to be.

Not a lot else.

I got some, I was just telling you earlier, I got some new car wash stuff that's just

come in this like real sort of, I don't know, professional grade, touchless car wash

stuff that's like, you're supposed to just spray on and you do a couple of coats

of spraying on and leaving it on and rinsing off.

And it's supposed to be as good as the stuff that you use at the car washes.

That's like, you know,

You're going to name some names there, Chad?

One is called Hamba Built.

I can agree with that.

That's perfect.

And then I also got this black diamond wheel cleaner.

Oh, yeah.

It's like real concentrated stuff.

So it's supposed to be like you dilute it to whatever parts.

So you've got to make sure otherwise it won't go pH neutral.

Just completely stripped of paint off the wheels.

So you got to watch out for how much you mix, obviously.

And yeah, it looks like good stuff.

So it's got good reviews.

I'm yet to try it.

So maybe maybe on the weekend I'll give it a whirl on one of the cars.

Hearing more and more things about the front control arms during kind of bump steers causing

the wheel wear issues.

So I just went on Isuzu's do the right thing and I'm assuming re-engineered some...

Because apparently aftermarket control arms, depending on which ones you get, solve that

issue quite nicely.

I was going to say surely there'd be an aftermarket solution by now.

But I'm like, Isuzu's got to pay for it.

So it's a known issue with the control arms?

I believe so.

A couple of things this week.

I'll go through them quickly.

Drove the Accord SI the other day for the first time in 20-something years.

Wow.

It drove far better than it had any right to.

I think it probably got something to do with the extensive list of things that

a good friend Malcolm has done to it.

Oh, you know it's been done.

Auto transmission fluid, all the petrol drained out, lines blown out,

injectors clean, timing belt, spark plugs, coolant, oil, new filter.

Yeah.

And it's still a bit lumpy at idle.

Not as good as it should be.

But that's probably just the...

We probably still need to give a clean to the...

But we just went around the big block.

He's semi-rural and we went around the big block and he followed me.

So of course nothing went wrong.

The first one, it's...

I was thinking of you, Maddie, with the Camry and how it sort of woke up,

and the little automatic gear indicators on the dash weren't all working

and I thought I'll have to look at that and give it a few minutes

and there they were, came up.

That's funny.

So yeah, it was just like waking up from its slumber, I think.

And yeah, but the second and third lap, you'd kick it down

and the trainee remembered what to do.

It drives really, really nicely.

So even the shocks didn't seem too bad.

I mean, it might need shockers having spent sitting on them for 20 years,

but they're not leaking at all.

Well, that's good.

About the tyres, any hard spots on the tyres?

Only tyres.

We put brand new tyres on it.

So yeah, I want to put new tyres on it anyway.

And Mitch got a good deal on some 14 Z-tex, good old Z-tex.

So it's actually got Integra rooms on at the moment,

which in a 14 inch in that first Gen Integra alloy,

which actually of all the Honda alloys through that time

had the best offset.

I mean, they look really good on that.

So I'll probably leave those on.

But yeah, I think the key is putting new tyres on it,

just everything, it always feels better.

So road nicely, corner nicely.

Yeah, so far so good.

So it's on a permit.

I booked it in to get a roadworthy Tuesday week, I think.

So I've just got to get it down from the hills to the roadworthy guy.

So that's exciting.

Lovely.

Drove the Grand Prix quite a bit on the weekend,

gave that a good run.

That's running nicely.

Mate borrowed it today because his car was in getting

the air conditioning service just around the corner.

So I said, oh, I've got a spare car here.

You can borrow that.

LN's gone in today to have its exhaust and its tie rod ends

and its ball joints done.

So they'll probably have that for a couple of days.

Oh, I've got a FL5 Type R in the garage again for a week.

Nice.

Not too shabby.

My dear friends.

And two non-honda ones.

I'm beginning to think, well, I already know

my one horse pony, really.

But whatever that expression is.

But two non-honda things.

Also, I had here for the last four days,

a 2005 Prius.

Now, I've never driven a Prius.

First gen?

The one everyone knows.

That came out in 2004 or 2005.

Oh, yeah.

So family friend.

Now, quite elderly, he bought a brand new.

He's always had it serviced to Toyota.

It's done a quarter of a million Ks.

Has never broken down.

He's just had the battery replaced

at Toyota's suggestion.

So I probably didn't need doing.

They probably just saw the batteries.

But if you replace a Prius battery,

you actually get some discount rate on them.

So invoice.

I think it cost him two grand for a new battery.

That's good.

But he's into his 80s.

Lovely bloke.

Very clever.

Like one of the country's leading experts

in nuclear energy and that sort of stuff.

But for the last 25 years,

I've been repairing the bumpers

where he bumps into...

It's never been a funnel shop.

So it's all criss down the side.

It's never been washed.

The paint is munted.

I've never seen it.

And he caught me around a couple of weeks ago

and said I've decided I'm going to keep the car.

I could buy a new car if I wanted, but no.

He's quite green.

An early adopter of Prius.

I mean, he just loves it.

He's an OG Prius guy.

And I drove this a couple of times.

After the car wash and stuff, I thought,

this is really pretty good.

This is pretty funky for a 25-year-old thing.

Obviously, he spent a gazillion dollars

getting a dealer service from you.

But it's paid off.

The thing drove great.

It looked like a dog's dinner.

So much so, he said, oh, should I get it repainted?

I said, well, if you want to spend $10,000, $15,000,

sure, get it repainted if you want.

But the cars, you know, you're overcapitalizing on the car.

Oh, he said, I don't really mind the weight.

So could you just tidy the bumpers up again?

I said to him, Tom.

How about I just wash it?

Yeah.

I said, Tom, I don't understand

the plane your brain works on.

You know, one of the most intelligent considered men I know,

I said, but I can park my car without putting a mark on it.

So I said, everyone has got their own talent.

So I said, I'm prepared to have that as my talent.

He had a bit of a job like that.

But I said, just let me have it for a few days

and I'll just tidy it up.

So literally, that's what I did.

What's the interior like?

It's pretty good.

It was a bit grubby, but I cleaned it up.

Good old bit of just all in a bit of a wet chamois.

It was only like the fabric had come out of the console

and sort of things.

I took the console and re-glued all that.

I just hit it with the...

I thought I can't damage the paints.

I just washed it with a magic sponge.

Hit it with the pressure for the servo.

Got all the lichen out of the channels in the roof.

You know, it's just completely...

Every panel's munted.

And by the time I'd done it with a magic sponge

and shamed it down, blacked the tyres,

cleaned the alloys, I think, for the first time in...

Can I say that if you get the wheels okay,

they really do help even a crap car.

So I messaged you yesterday and said,

look, Tom, come and pick this car.

I've done as much as I can.

I said, there's more you could do

if you're looking at the panel shop.

If they replace the bumpers with secondhand ones

or aftermarket ones,

the ones that they bring in from overseas,

not factory ones, get them painted.

They didn't improve it and the bonnet,

but I said, just come pick it up.

No charge.

I said, oh, no, no, I'm happy to pay you.

I said, it didn't look good enough in my eyes

for me to actually charge him.

So yeah, 2005 Prius.

I can see why they were popular back in the day.

And I've seen more and more of them on the road

since I've had this one at home.

And there are some really clean, tidy looking ones around

that have obviously been much better looked after than his.

But yeah, so that was good.

And I've got the exclusive rights

and getting him before Mr. Bunting,

good friend of the show, Mr. Rigglesworth,

and posted a photo today.

And I was very excited by it.

This knocks the Odyssey story out of the water.

They have just got on club plates.

Laura's first car that she found.

Marketplace, about two years ago,

her actual first car, a 2000 Lancer GLX.

I think it is, or GLI coupe.

With original factory hubcaps and everything.

She bought it 20 years ago.

And they sent through a photo today

outside Lillidale Mitsubishi where she bought it

with the Lillidale Mitsubishi key tag

that I found it at a...

because I was at VicRoads today at lunchtime.

I thought, you know, when I work from home,

sometimes I like to get out and get something done at lunch.

I think, what can I achieve in my sort of,

you know, 45 minutes or an hour or so of lunch break?

So I thought, well...

I'm surprised you achieved anything in that time

at VicRoads.

I've been using the bathrooms or something.

So I zipped down to VicRoads

and I thought I would transfer my old number plates

that I managed to get back off my X

during...

Oh, last week, I think it was.

So they disappeared for five years, but they resurfaced.

So this is the plates on my Ben's coupe

when I first got it,

which is, you know, 308.9.

This is a three-digit, three-digit,

which suited that car because it was a 300 coupe

and it's an 89.

So I got those back

and I thought, well, I'll just go and transfer those back

to my name and shove them in the shed

and probably never put them on any car ever again,

but at least not there.

Anyway, I was in the line at VicRoads

to just see the, you know, reception person

and in Walsa's law and Andrew

and I said, what are you two doing?

And they were, of course, getting the Lancer on club plates.

So we had a chat about all things Lancer.

So that was funny.

What else have I...

Been driving around in the Renault 16.

I parked it yesterday at lunch

and of course there's another Renault 16

that lives in that street that I know of

and he came out and had a chat

and then his wife took a photo of it

and then it ends up on some Instagram post

and then my other friend, Rowan,

who's been on the show, you know, with the Nimbus,

he sends it to me and said, you're famous, you know.

You go somewhere in an old car

and someone sees you and spots you.

So that was funny.

I've ordered new...

You might recall the Renault 16

was leaking terribly out of the sump plug.

That got fixed.

Then it was leaking out of the gearbox,

the drive shafts where they go into the gearbox.

Front.

So I've ordered two new drive shaft seals

from the Niederlands.

That's where the Renault 16 shop is.

The Niederlands.

So they are on the way.

They'll probably be a couple of weeks away,

but it's not dripping crazy bad at the moment.

The level's down a little bit from full.

I don't know what the cause of that is,

but anyway, order the seals and get them fitted

and see how it behaves.

So I'm zipping around in that a bit at the minute.

What else?

The Lexus that I have currently for sale,

I've advertised that.

This is the 2013 new shape IS250 Silver on black

with a sunroof done 19,000 Ks from new.

Maddie J had five of that car.

It did.

It's lovely.

It's a beautiful thing.

It's a very smooth thing.

It's a great car.

Really is good.

I just wish I had a need

or an excuse to keep that car.

But I don't.

So, yeah, Lexus currently advertised.

Oh, the little laser Matthew speaking lasers.

So little Volkswagen, Nick and I have been,

you know, tinkering with that.

He's done a bit of cosmetics on it in the last week

and put on some new silver tape

around those little chrome insert bits

on the black bumper bars.

That looks a lot better.

What else did he do?

He's blacked all the bumper bars.

He got out the D-pilling machine

like you use on a woolen jumper

and D-pilled the door kick panels

where they get a bit fluffy.

So he can run this thing over it.

He described it as giving them a haircut.

Does it grow?

It's a door carpet.

It does the same thing.

Yeah.

So he's done that on it.

And the parts of a ride, of course,

need to stuff around and fit those

and then get a roadie

and then probably find a home

for that carpet.

It drives really well.

You need to choke when it's cold,

but once it's been running a few minutes,

it zips through the gears nicely.

You know, it's light.

I mean, it's lighter than parking.

You know, no power steer,

but I quite enjoy driving it.

It's not a...

You can see why people bought them new.

In 83, that would have been quite a nice little thing.

I mean, considering an air school

was pretty agricultural at that point.

Two or two laser that was completely...

It was a whole new ballgame, really.

It's a solid little car.

And I think I commented on that

when we first got it off Mr. Barlow

some weeks ago.

You know, the doors have got quite a solid feel to it.

It's not super tinny.

It's more substantial than you'd think.

So, a fairly busy weekend.

Friday after work.

I drove to Bacchus Marsh

and caught up with Magna 2nd Gen

sensei Paul Gatt and bought a...

Sensei?

I was trying to go with a little ratio,

not sure if it worked.

Bought a Magna banner off him

and had a good chat himself, which was good.

Then the next day,

a few Magna enthusiasts.

A p-player Magna enthusiast,

so quite young.

We're keen to do a catch-up,

so we end up having some more photo shoots

at that spot in Mordialic,

which was interesting.

And then on Sunday,

I caught up with David

before he went to spend time with the Accord

and then spent the day with Andrew

because we both did a

Drive Against Depression drive,

which the first stage is something

I drive quite regularly anyway,

but the second stage was unfamiliar.

The first stage,

I missed the talk of the Magna,

because I was in the Civic,

but then the second stage,

because the Magna suspension is still,

I don't know, not right.

I was stuck in the Civic because

over potholes it wasn't bouncing all over the road

and that was an interesting drive.

And then we finished at

Maggarage,

so we heard a Canberra name now

because I hope it was with names,

but there was a very high-profile female rally driver

that was talking about Merisport.

No, Molly, tell her, yeah.

And they had some,

I think,

their ongoing sponsor is 4,

but they also were sponsored this time by Subaru,

and so they had some of the new ones there,

and someone who I stupidly thought was an owner

it was actually a salesman,

but anyway.

Bamboo.

No, not that price.

Yeah, so that was quite,

yeah, it's quite interesting.

And then

yesterday

I took the Civic to a place

kind of closer to work to,

because I thought I'd heard

a bit of a rattle from the exhaust,

but apparently that's fine,

so I identified that they think

the starter motor we're starting to go,

which doesn't surprise you,

because sometimes it has been cranky a bit slowly,

but yeah, so that's probably all of my car updates, I think.

Okay, nice.

Actually, so one more thing that David touched on before

when he said that the gear selector lights

work up in the Accord,

when I drove the Magna on Saturday,

the driver's seat height adjustment

function work up too,

so I could finally lower the seat

and feel as though I was sitting in the seat

on the seat, so that's good.

Very good.

They just need a little bit of work.

On the way up to Canberra,

Tommy put the passenger seat of the big girl

forward, you know,

with the electric thing, and then he's like,

I didn't want to tell you for about half an hour yet,

but it won't go backwards again.

I'm going to crack the shit.

My response is usually it's Tom

stops touching stuff,

just sit there and enjoy the ride.

Everything has to get

tweaked and adjusted, you know.

There's people like that that get in your car

and touch every button and swivel the vent,

and I'm just like, just stop.

Anyway, it's when you get into the hand slap,

you're like, no.

Tommy is one of those people,

and I said, yeah, look, it did that

when I first bought it.

Just sort of keep trying it and it'll find

a little connection and go back,

and eventually, of course, it didn't.

It's fine, but yeah.

I'm just going to remember with his head up in the Sunvisor.

So, I've been driving the Camry

the last few days, you know,

I put it away for a month and then drive it again

and drive it again, and that's always

been good to drive.

So, I've been driving that

cold air con, you know.

So, that's been enjoyable to drive.

Doesn't have a few little things,

which the more I drive it,

the more I'm figuring out I need,

I think it needs another engine mount

or a torque steady mount.

One of the two.

So, yeah, I'll get that sorted.

Today's Steph's car,

so I think I mentioned this earlier,

we had the compressor done for the air con

and a really good ice cold,

TX valves done as well,

but when we were driving back from Adelaide,

it turned off for about five minutes

and then it came back and then it was fine,

but then it's been happening more and more.

Got it checked out today.

It ended up being the relay,

so $60 and then that's all sorted.

So, happy days for the Subaru there.

hang out with a guy on Sunday

who's a friend of a friend

I met this person

at a Christmas party

and his name is also Edward

But yeah, he's now

like the head mechanic at,

I believe the head mechanic at Harrop.

So, he fits all the supercharges,

does all the camshafts, does all the performance stuff,

and so, he

is a

really cool collection of cars.

He's got a Yaris GR,

which we all like,

we all approve of, that's really cool.

He sold his 86 to buy the Yaris GR.

And he's also got

someone, he's got a W202,

which is his daily.

You know, it's just a C200

or whatever it is.

He knows a quality chassis.

He does, he knows.

So, for some context,

he likes a big, cruisey car.

So, he had a

like a 70,

like an early 70s Brom for years

and then he sold that

and he bought a Toyota Century V12.

So,

he imported it during COVID

and he reckoned

for peanuts, yeah, correct.

And quite literally, this has got

everything, it's even got the feather duster,

which is like, I don't know how that got through customs.

Yeah. It's the proper

like, you know,

the proper birds feather.

It's gone extinct by now probably.

Yeah, yeah, something that like

Japan probably ate

and...

You can't get this bird anymore.

I got the duster.

But it's got everything and

he's like, we'll take it for a drive.

So, we drove for a good hour.

My God,

that car is

next level.

Have any of you ever been in a Century?

It's a Century.

No, it's a V12.

So, it's a 2001 or two.

It is.

They're cheap now.

The V12s were expensive for a while there,

but they've come right back down.

They have come.

You can get into one in the teens,

but they're pretty hammered

and he's like, I wouldn't buy one in the teens

because they've all been X...

Yakuza.

Or X hotel owner cars.

So, they just get

driven and beaten.

They're quite often in rusty areas

and they're just munted underneath.

A lot of terrible things take place in the back.

The air intake

has got numerous tanks

and these all chambers just are quiet down

and they're charged so there's no engine noise.

It's uncanny how quiet it is.

I couldn't believe

how quiet and smooth and

there's like no vibration.

Nothing, not a single vibration.

Are they running air suspension or anything like that?

Air suspension, correct.

So yeah, so they're on air shocks

and he's like, a lot of people

just ruin them by just slamming them

and not realizing that all the air shocks

just, they worn out after time.

They snap.

So you need to replace them but

this thing

to drive was just

and it's like a 2.2 ton car.

It's not a light car

by any means.

But the power delivery, you think,

oh, it's a VTOM would be super fast.

It's adequate is what it is.

It's talky.

It doesn't like to rev at all.

and it just wafts you along

like you wouldn't believe.

How reliable are they?

because the only straight six that they had,

would have been the 1J.

They've got two, but back in the day,

one bank found you'd still be able to get home.

He's like, that's complete rubbish.

They just didn't have the technology

to make an ECU do that.

Back in the day, 12 cylinders.

That's why a lot of the BMWs of that era

had two ECUs controlling each bank.

related. We're going to finish them off

today.

Let's crack on with that.

The first one

is from

Jeremy.

Jeremy asks, what are the best places

to take your car for pictures?

What are some cool spots

that you guys recommend?

That's a great question. It's been a while

since I've been in that

loop

of taking photos and stuff.

There's been going to some really cool places recently

with the Magnum Fraternity.

I always thought

some nice places were always in nature

where

you get a nice backdrop of

especially in autumn

with the trees

in weird colors and dropping

and stuff. I always love

that kind of era.

That kind of

time of the year to take photos.

But in terms of locations

it's a bit of a weird one.

Do you guys know any good places

to take photos?

Jim's been taking a lot recently

at a colored factory backdrop.

Yes.

That's in

Mordiallik.

Sixth of Lona Street in Mordiallik.

But also in that

because it's sort of a commercial area

there are quite a few

other murals

there that people

can obviously take photos in front of.

I've done that with a few around there as well.

From what I understand

from Mr Rigglesworth is that

the colored one that's been sort of appearing

in front of a lot of

well, sorry, behind a lot of people's photos

may potentially only be there for a few more months

but I think they're going to sort of redo the ones that's

around there. So I would suggest

probably if you're thinking about it

to sort of get onto it sooner rather than later.

The other spot that I was

meaning to do a bit when I have time was

the

Path in Bailey Tressel Bridge.

I also think

coming into Frankston from Frankston

South, going downhill, looking over the bag

is quite pretty if you've got the right lighting.

And I was going to say somewhere else and I've

completely gone blank so I'll probably remember it while

somewhere else is talking but

I guess it becomes sort of familiar with

parts of the world that you think are

interesting, have got some sort of

appeal to them.

Also bear in mind the colour of the car that you're

driving as well because some cars will obviously

look better in front of backdrops

than others.

And obviously the time of day that you

go because obviously, for example, if you went

to Mordi Alec too early, it'd be too

glaring. So, you know, picking the right

time is always helpful.

What time is sort of like

Twilight sort of time? I think

Twilight is sort of, yeah, it's definitely

better.

And is there like a line up of people wanting

to take photos of their cars?

So...

Yeah, that was going to be my next question.

The other night I took

the Civic because

where the

the drive finish was about

20 minutes away and I figured the

Civic was probably getting a bit jealous.

So, I went there, got

one photo and then someone pulled

up in a GI

Yaris and I thought, well, I think I know

it. So, I moved out of the way.

So, I would imagine it's quite

quite busy.

The other thing I would suggest too

is it's probably good to go with

someone in case it's one of those things

we want to line up the car properly

because if you're having to let yourself

it gets tears anyway. So, a lot of time going

backwards and forwards because obviously

how lines of sight look

to you in the driver's seat versus how it

looks and we can take the photo is quite different.

So, just bear that in mind too.

And obviously, especially if you're

doing it say at

times where lighting isn't great, you've also got to bear

in mind other people driving that they

might not be able to see you because

you're bearing all that in mind. Yeah, so I guess

it depends what you're after. If you're in a four-wheel drive,

obviously what you'll be after is different to if you're

in a two-door crib or something. So, it just

depends on what sort of things you're

looking at.

But, and of course, like

being 2026c, what's popular on social

media and actually with me often I've

remembered. The other one that

is, I think, quite big at the moment

is people parking their car

in front of Rollerama in Scorsby

because it's got a really cool neon

lighting around the front. Yeah, it looks kind of cool.

It looks really good. Especially like

if I think you've got an 80s car, for example

that look really, really good there.

So, yeah.

I mean, unfortunately, if you're in just state,

I don't know. But around South East

and Victoria, those are some suggestions and also

to, if you just happen to cross some

murals and stuff can sometimes be interesting too.

So, yeah, that's my

10 cents worth. I love taking cars to

like, especially in the drive to Adelaide.

There's all like, Adelaide's really

known for their, I know it's a weird

thing, but for their painted murals you probably would have seen them along the way.

And so you can get some really

cool shots in front of them.

Also like some really good

shots, you know, with the city

in the background.

So, you can definitely, in

Melbourne that is, find a higher

spot and take some cool shots there.

What about you guys? Any other

locations that you would recommend?

I quite like Docklands.

Docklands is cool. You can get

right under the Baltic Bridge.

Obviously, there's that like car park area.

I'm pretty sure it's

still open to traffic. I think you can still get there.

You can still get like right under it

and you know, it looks quite

you know, blocky

and, what's

the word, brutalist I guess.

They used to do the JDMS team.

Yeah, that's it. That's sort of going

back to those days. I quite like that.

And you can also get photos amongst

like shipping containers, which is kind

of cool. Yeah, I like that.

There used to be another spot in Docklands, which is

the end of

Collins Street in Docklands

and it sort of goes

onto a pier.

But they are doing

building works there and you can't get

as far as you used to be able to there anymore.

And then

there is still a spot where you could

sort of park your car and then you can get the

Baltic Bridge in the background, especially at night

it's quite cool.

And the other

spot I like is Yarra Bend, like Yarra Boulevard.

Oh, Yarra Boulevard, yeah.

But it's also very popular

and there's

a lot of police, especially

at night and it's when

people tend to do unsay everything

on public roads.

So

yeah, those are probably

my favourites. Your recommendations.

tend to take across the road from my house

using the neighbour's nice fence when I

pass.

It is and it's like five metres away

it's really

so that's

where I tend to take most photos

other than that

I think a lot of people take photos

in the sun, they're never great in the sun.

You need a cloudy day

overcast, morning light is

lovely, evening light can be lovely

but you know, right in the heat of the day

is not good for blingy car.

Big reflection off the car.

Yeah, exactly.

And I think people, that's a good word, reflection.

A lot of people seem to go to

do it under those trees and there's

so much reflection you can't

see the paint or the purity of

the car, it's just covered in reflection from trees

and stuff. So ideally

you don't want too much stuff around it to reflect

onto the car.

Yeah, it's nice in front of the ocean.

Yeah, end of north road

there's a boat launching

ramp. Yeah, that's quite nice.

Oh, yeah.

It was there not long ago actually.

Under the

harbour bridge I took my starlet to Sydney

once years ago and got

a photo of it under the harbour bridge

as a big boat was coming

under. There was a flock of

seagulls flying and a rainbow

I think and it was

it was literally like a brochure

shot. I was very

impressed with my photography.

I think

just touching on that, I think the golden hour

at night you can take some lovely photos

of cars as the sun's going down

in the sort of long of a nice day

like it's about perfect outside

it won't be tonight

because I'm doing this but tomorrow night

I'm going to get some of the Grand Prix Civic

with the FL5

I think together

at this time.

I don't mind a car park

like

on my screens over on my laptop I've got

the N1 Park next to FL5

in

the underground car park at the Glen

and it's quite

brightly lit but it's a great photo

of it. Yeah, nice.

There's two other things

I wouldn't if I could just say

one thing I would like to do at some point

is try and find something like a botanic garden

to take a car to I think that would be quite cool

the other thing which when I

go without saying but seeing as I had to do it myself

on the weekend if you're

using a space that is frequented

by car people to take photos

don't disrespect the space

they were colouring

in the road with their rear tyres

so I

and the thing was

is that until that night

there were no marks on that road at all

single tyre or dual tyre

both like intelligently

what type of car were they in Jim

take a guess

Commodore

and

so they looked a very

big one and I suppose them afterwards I felt quite

politely about it.

What did you say exactly I'm keen to know

I said you know this is going to sound

a bit like something a grandfather would say

but you need to be mindful

not to do that sort of thing the police

can be quite quickly especially considering

your age because they were very

very young and on their piece and I

said and we also don't want to lose this sort of space

for other enthusiasts to

enjoy and take photos of their car

so in future it's best not to do this

were they there to take a photo

of their car in front of them yes

and they'd just done that

and then they said

okay

then there was a period of about five minutes

of light drizzle

and we were going to

go they went to the other end

of the street and then

proceeded to do that for about

200 metres and then stop parallel

next to my driver's side window and I was sitting in the car

and then what happened they I think

wanted me to look back angrily

I just ignored them because

I'm like dude I deal with you at work anyway

like pretty much as a teacher

like I've got no interest and then they

drove off I might also add

not quite the thing I would be doing if I know

that my radiator cap is not sealing properly

and it's bubbling but anyway pitch their own

just common old things

so I would yes

suggest as I said that you know you've

got to use these spaces to

respect them because also we want

for people who live in that area as well

and just

you know typical what should

be common sense things of respect in the space

you're using because obviously you don't

car community is very good

if we all respect the space that we're using

if we don't respect them then we lose the right to have them

so we need to be there that you mind

so yeah that's my last warning

yep I agreed

I'd say would be

in Williamstown

just by the bay there

is it the boulevard they call it

or is it the strand

that's it the strand that's it

you can give it a nice shot especially at night

with the car on the side of the road next to the city behind

lights and if you just

do a bit of a long exposure shot

you can get some really nice light

and some nice reflection and yeah

makes them look lovely

also I like

sometimes with the graffiti backgrounds

and things like that you can get into a

different area or even an industrial area

like in Eltona where the refineries

are

you can get some really cool shots

like the nice contrast with a nice shiny car

or a beaten up car with like

a really dull and rusty all background

it's kind of a bit apocalyptic

I kind of like it

so yeah definitely worth a look
