And so there's some stuff on like Reddit and the Samba and stuff that
people have obviously done this.
It's a common upgrade.
And so there's a way to do it.
However, the tires that they you need to do that with are lame as hell.
You know, they're like the street, radial, the wimpiest tires.
But anyways, that got me thinking.
I was like, holy crap.
I didn't really think about this.
My garage is super low.
Oh, in fact, when we moved in,
it was we had to add an entire row of garage door, you know,
like the panels and raise the opening and like finish it off because there was
like a ventilation soffit above the garage when the house was built.
And so a regular car is no problem.
It's low, but you wouldn't really notice it.
But the van again was not going to work.
And it just wasn't a standard size.
We fixed it.
However, it's like pretty damn tight now.
Like when I go in with the van, I have to like a really slow,
like to not like go over the little threshold of the garage.
Anyways, now I'm like, I don't know if this freaking thing will fit.
If I go with the knobby boys or the beefy boys that my heart desires.

So you have to cut a little notch into your fucking threshold there.

So even if it says like what it says, like there's going to be some variation there.

claiming I should get those Michelin A S 34 A S four is a whatever.

the Conti's forever and they last like 4500
All season. Yeah, but the Conti's last 4500 miles
and he's claiming the Michelin's are as grippy, but last longer.

they're just going to fall off faster. You know, so like even if you get
initial cold grip, like once you start getting some temp in them, like they
actually do fall off, but they're fine. Like they're totally like there.

and like and it's a beautiful place but it's like that happens so hence why like
our homeboy you know croc used to go at dawn because there's no one around and
then you get like the most beautiful road in the world with like no one on it is
pretty legit but yeah it's a it's it's kind of one of those double-edged
situations and and it really is a great driving road I mean when you get down I
mean it's getting rough down there but when you go down there and you know below
where I went to willow creek but below willow creek is where it gets really good
too but there's some I mean it's a really good driving road down there I
it's great it has everything it's so good it's amazing man yeah so fun yeah
dude so our homeboy Rubin we all know collectively like he told he's told me
to this day even after all of the driving he's done all over Europe everywhere
and all fucking cars his best drive ever he said was on driving Nick Woodman's
Lotus Exige and he was by himself like you know dawn and had basically the
entire fucking run up like he left I think he left LA like at four in the
morning so like he like got basically almost all of it free to himself and at
the very end dude pulling into Carmel a helicopter started following him whoa and
he got a gnarly ticket no so which is unfortunate but even despite that he's
still like that it's like the best driver he's ever had in his life like the
cars right the roads right conditions like everything's good sure but yeah
yeah willow willow creek to ragged point or whatever that that section is amazing
and and I did it like when I did that on my way to LA whatever a few months ago
and then I did 33 after that I was like that I liked like I was like oh that's
a way better section of road than 33 in my opinion I mean it's very good like
you know it's less repetitive it's just like an amazing section of road it's
pretty killer oh and then one other thing I met up with Kevin to Kevin from
Paso sweet but and then last weekend or last earlier this week I guess I drove
Kevin's 75 Firebird well under chicken dude thing right dude it actually so
surprisingly I mean it's a little jiggly it actually drove pretty well I drove
on a back road and pass a robles automatic you know it's like he let you
know he's he's breathed a little fire into the chicken or whatever but so it
goes all right it's pretty smog but yeah it's actually better it's way better than
I thought it would be like you don't it doesn't you know like a lot of stuff I've
driven from that era is like you're just trying to keep it like straight you know
you're like going down these this thing like has some big fat sway bars and stuff
I guess from the factory and it just like it didn't feel like I was man having to
manage it that much it was like it actually could handle pretty well and
it was like that's cool it was kind of great I was like I don't know you could
see where it could it was like kind of fun and you could see where you could get
on top of it and and actually like driving on a rally and have fun driving it
you know there's people are like I can't wait till I can afford one of these
because they're so cool and so fun and it and Lane's like I mean they're don't
get me wrong they're they're fine like they're okay actually it's like I mean
you know what I'm saying though it's like expectations you know it's like yeah
I'll tell you this the one Lane just said is a is a fucking gargantuan
compliment okay I just gave a the biggest compliment ever worn I know
went down the road straight I didn't have to like I mean and it and it actually
handled pretty well like a car and the yeah there's somebody with a poster that
car in the garage and I've been someday man I tell you what hey and I just gave
him I just told him it was like a pretty decent little little pretty decent car
yeah and yeah it's kind of and it felt badass I felt you know you want to drive
with one hand with a beer and the other and a cigarette and stuff like it's
definitely that kind of car and you're definitely like lean back and yeah but
okay you get a lot of attention Lane can you roll a mullet dude I wish I could
probably grow a gross-ass mullet for sure I can't grow like good facial hair
but I can grow like dirty facial hair you know like deserving of a firebird I
love it yeah dude you gotta have like those Oakley blades with this or is that
too late yeah more aviators I mean it all works probably yeah well I'll tell
you what I can see everything that you're saying making sense though especially
because like driving something like that on some of the rougher roads around like
Parkfield and all that I bet it's fucking awesome because it's very it's like it's
got very heavy-duty suspension right and like it's just a ton of sidewall like
it's very simple like all of that like it makes for a great combination I think
it's also very wide like so you have some pretty good like you know traction and
grip around corners but you know I feel like it would be like a great like six to
seven tenths car and then it's like you know and it's just like fucking flying over
shit and like just whatever I get it I drove it just from the parking lot the hotel
parking lot to the dinner spot that one rally and at that speed it was just all
like the whole thing was like moving laterally as it was idling you know it's
like plop and it was it was great too for a different reason
right and I totally get it it's that car has a lot of attitude but it's like all
positive vibes that's like that we see right yep it's super fun you you
transform into someone else when you drive it for sure yeah nice do you say
what well when he dropped me off he like did a burnout as he took off you know
it's like a friend and yeah exactly gave a fucking house yeah exactly
through his beer bottle out the out the window I was really surprised to see
like what a low rpm burnout that car could do it was like
Warren took a video of it and he must have been going like 1800
rpm and the tires are just smoking and just my whole dry I was you know driving
at five tenths or something the whole drive but or whatever but the whole
drive I'm at like 1800 rpm or something the torque band is crazy
that's probably like four yeah it's like a diesel dude yeah yeah it's insane
that's good times but yeah it was pretty rad but yeah that's my that's all my
updates but are you probably you have a bunch of Euro talk did your Euro trash
right dude I'm Euro trash yeah man this this trip it was very interesting for me
because it was a family trip so I didn't have a ton of car time like you know car
centric time it was a lot of architecture history food
which I absolutely love but while I'm there while you're in there where are you
so I was I started in Lisbon I went to two cities in Portugal I went to Lisbon
and Porti Mao which is where the formula one track is and an area called the
Algarve which is a very cool region it reminds me a lot of California it's like
got the coastal range vibes it's got like you know a lot of like similar sort of
like beachy kind of vibes it's like a Santa Barbara Santa Cruz hybrid like
that sort of like it's a little you know little town but but it has some culture
and it's really pretty and I yeah I didn't plan it you know it was a family
trip so we had very specific stops and that one just happened to have the formula
one track at so I made sure to go visit but before I get to Porti Mao I do want
to say that Lisbon is a phenomenal city I was very impressed it's like it's so
cool dude I I can I see the hype you know especially when they were
incentivizing like you know American citizens and foreigners to like go live
there yeah like tax-free lifestyle and shit because it is similar to Spain but
not right in some ways it's got its own culture and like obviously its own
language but it like it has everything it has like you know amazing food amazing
you know architecture it's got a super super vibrant like like music and you
know art scene and on top of that huge car culture dude like they I had no idea
like there's it's just they have the all these driving clubs I I actually I took
pictures of the magazine because it was at the airport and that's the goal thing I
didn't want to fucking carry it I already had my bad my backpack and didn't want
to carry it around but like I took a few pictures of the articles and it's like all
these organized drives and on the most insane roads dude like basically like
think of like the stuff between like Half Moon Bay and and sort of and Santa Cruz
all in there like right including like Skyline and all of the good shit that we
love to drive on like stuff like that for like 150 miles you know and like you're
going through like you drive you know 10 10 15 miles and then you're in this little
village and it's like this super rad village that's like you know 2,000 years
old really because it's from the Phoenicians and like you have architecture
that goes back that far and all the way to like heavy colonial or not colonial
for us colonial but you know 15 1600s architecture and it's very clean you
know so yeah I was super impressed by by by Lisbon in general but and and
Portugal and I went to the racetrack got an Uber and for the first time in my life
this happened I I got an Uber you know and it just so happens to be a Brazilian guy
and so he's like you know we get into talking right and I speak Portuguese by
the way which is like a Spanish Portuguese hybrid it's legitimately a thing
I used to do this when I went to Brazil and I presented in Portugal and so we
understand each other fine you know we can't go super deep into philosophy or
anything but and it turns out that he's a huge fucking car guy and he imports
the 21 window buses from from Brazil and sells them in Europe at like a crazy
fucking markup because they're worthless down there and you know in Europe
there you know they go nuts for them and so and then he also imported other shit
and exported like you know some JDM stuff and big formula one fan and so you
know he he was like hey man I can take the highway route like you know this
will take you straight up and then cross over or I can take you through the
fun roads and I'm like fuck yeah let's go through the fun roads and like what
car a Tesla Model 3 whatever you know but it's like it's an Uber right so yeah
yeah and that says I can get up and go yeah totally and so and he took me through
these roads and I'm like dude this is like this is what I grew up driving like
this is all this stuff is amazing and he's like yeah I always try to like go
around this way when I go to the track because it's more fun and usually there's
no one around and so so we did that and we get to the racetrack and the fucking
merch store is closed and even though it said it was open and I called the day
before and and so of course it's like some siesta fucking situation that wasn't
on Google Maps or whatever and so so he gets out and he asks the security guard
hey like do you guys have any merch anywhere around here that's available
and he's like yeah go to the cart track it's up the hill and they have some stuff
there so we went to the car track and and so at this point I'm like hey man are
you fine like sticking around you know because like I'm gonna have to call an
Uber way out here and I was he's like oh yeah absolutely like he turned he's like
I turned off the thing like as soon as we got here and we just hanging out and
like he was like he had a and in Brazil he had a like an opal shoot opal omega
that was like you know kind of decked out and I was like man this is like amazing
because like you know if you're a fucking sports ball person you can talk
deep about sports with anybody you know like that's super common and like when
do you actually meet someone that is like that into cars and like you get to
spend a few hours with them randomly it's like it was it was pretty like that
type of car culture you know it's one thing to meet it in Uber driver and
it's like oh my dad had a 57 yeah dude that's awesome we're always like like
Monterey but yeah you know it's always like you're there for car week and
it's like oh yeah my uncle had a Shelby Cobra and you're like all right this is
great that's classic that's my favorite like when you're like at a relatives
and like oh you're a car guy meet Pete over there and it's like yeah and yeah
you never know what you're gonna get but it's usually a 55 Chevy or I know
super cool is there a so a couple questions if you don't mind is car
ownership is challenging as it is in other parts of Europe in Portugal like
you know in England it's very expensive fuel and
insurance and Portugal is a little bit a little more laid back than the rest of
your yeah that's my impression but I wasn't sure if that's true because I'm
dude I almost don't want to fucking say it because we're in such a global world
now you know import and export you know dude Facebook marketplace my god it was
like all of the cool shit like everything and it was like way cheaper too and
like yeah I was like and dude I found like the cleanest a 86 Corolla's like
what the fuck like you know and like 11 front end non-pop up headlight like all
over the place like they had tons of sick like European like shit that we know
that you know that we pay a significant premium for here like a lot of like the
alpha GT junior stuff like you know yeah but yeah interesting like JDM stuff too
because they have a huge like rally culture there like they're really into
rally so I was just checking out like Facebook marketplace finding like all
this really cool like JDM rally shit that like you know just all-wheel drive
little hot hatches and yeah and of course some classics some really interesting
Mercedes too like especially like you know late 60s stuff but yeah anyways yeah
so that was entertaining when I was alone at night but yeah so did that and then
I went to Mallorca which is now one of my favorite places in the world so that
is an island in the Adriatic Sea in the Mediterranean middle of Mediterranean
and it is so cool that is like amazing but yeah I can't even like you just have
to look it up it's like yeah like it's like Ibiza with all the beautiful beaches
but not all the fucking you know just a little shit I wanted to say Ibiza I
wanted to say yeah I don't say Ibiza which is like a further bastardization
which I really like but yeah so just you know amazing food you know and also
like Mallorca is awesome because like it is like very naturally beautiful too
right like it's there's just epic nature like crazy hiking lots of water and
and it's like you know just like a lot of these like islands can be right it's
like they're very peeky like you know you're as soon as you're away from the
ocean you go straight up into the mountains and you're like in these all
these little pockets and yeah so was a big fan of Mallorca I can see why a
lot of people buy property there and just want to disappear from the world but
naturally that's causing a lot of problems right like the locals will tell
you about the cost of living and you know all these people coming in and buying
up all their shit so I get it Mallorca has been popular forever it's been
popular forever the Germans try to buy it legitimately once the Brits kind of
own it because they just take over but yeah it's an epic place and then
Barcelona of course so and that's an awesome place I don't know if you guys
have been but never been it's like San Francisco New York Paris hybrid and
culturally as that visually and aesthetically and they love to they love
tourists is the good news really that I learned is overhyped I did ask I talked
to some you know cab drivers who are the best politicians in the world right like
they know everything and and every single one I talked to three about three of
them about it I asked I just had to see you got the low-down super blown out of
proportion there was a group of college students that were going up and down
Las Ramblas which is like the Pacific Avenue of Barcelona if you will Lane
just late
do they have saffron rice dude but they were going up and down and they were
shooting water pistols okay with water pistols shooting tourists like eating
on the calf out in cafes and stuff like that just harassing them but I think it's
just like that it's more of a bigger theme in general right like the whole
like digital nomad thing is like really annoying a lot of people and that's
happening in Mexico City that's happening you know all over the world right
because you know a lot of especially Americans with you know
higher wages are going into these places and living like an epic lifestyle on
foreign eating all their other top us eating all their in their fucking
so but overall like I had a fantastic time very positive vibes and you know I
also speak Spanish so that helps like it's not like you know yeah so it's all
good if you if you had to go back to one spot on your trip where would you go
well that's the shitty thing is that like for driving I would love to go back
to Lisbon because there's so many epic driving roads that like like you can just
take east from there yeah or or Portima the same thing but for experience and
like just li vi and I would definitely go back to Mallorca okay look it up
like and subscribe I mean I'll mention the Alpine thing I posted about it so
you know yeah check out our Instagram if you haven't seen it that was cool that's
a rad showroom French brand rad showroom and so you know they obviously own an
F1 team and historically they were mostly known for their like early like rally
cars from like the late 60s early 70s but very interesting brand and they're
very much aligned with our ethos they're all about like it's like not quite
lotus simplify and add lightness it's more like do a cool thing and make it as
light as possible and try to like actually make it function well you know so
it's interesting to see because you know unfortunately I'll say is that they
have committed to like an all EV lineup now and I mean it is what they're doing
but at least they're taking a good approach you know they're they're trying to
build fun interesting cars that you know our EVs and so it's a thing right I
mean I can see myself in the future it's like it's like you know it's two
different things right like you can have an EV a 110 in the garage and then
maybe have you know other petrol powered toys hot hatch that
they had in the showroom what is that is that a Renault that's a Renault 5
underneath yeah right so think it's basically like an alpina situation right
so it's like yeah totally yeah but I mean that's basically like a nice e-golf
equivalent that you're already driving totally in Santa Barbara so if that was
an option like oh there's an electric you know alpine hatchback like that sounds
pretty sweet so totally yeah exactly it's because why not you have a tool for
that purpose that's also very fun to drive and engaging it looks good and has
nice materials and it's like yeah like I want I'm gonna be spending a lot of time
in it right yeah but but yeah they had a sort of like a I don't even want to call
it a crossover because it was basically more like a lifted sedan like closer to
like a crown but very like sporty you know and that's the alpine a390 you know
very nice materials it was looked very well built well put together nice seats
and the interesting thing is because they're fucking with you know electronics
ultimately and compus they are they actually programmed it with the three
diffs that it has to handle like a mid-engine car so it's like pretty funky
how they're doing that's crazy because it's an EV right it's all about you know
the the batteries down there you put the weight where they need to and like so
yeah I think they're trying to inject this like engagement and this fun factor
into all their products so we'll see what happens they're currently on hold from
coming to the US due to the tariff situation and hostile environment but
yeah I'm sure we'll see what happens down the line that's a big investment to
try to scrape by but that's cool well I'm sure they'll be more stuff that bubbles
to the surface of your your trip perhaps you know maybe little you know they'll
ever vessel well well nuggets nuggets I might come along they'll pop up you guys

to start like I took a bunch of pictures but it was like kind of like where do I
put this like it's just for me and one of them was you know just the casual
king of Spain you know like his prior boat he sold it and now it's a
charterable thing and you can imagine that but like just very super rad like
ultra sleek like amazing materials it's like you know it's basically Bugatti
Sharon philosophy on a boat and it's like yes like I know billionaire sucking
all that but like if I was there that's what I would want to be in you know it's
a whole lifestyle yachting is a pretty fun thing dude but it's like I mean I
have a friend who had a 50 million dollar yacht and he was spending over a
million dollars a year on maintenance and staff and all that like it's a whole
other world dude like it's I had a friend in Santa Cruz that had a 52 foot
racing sailboat it was really nice also but it was meant for like going to
Hawaiian back made in Santa Cruz beautiful boat and he spent like roughly
like 150 a year to keep it going because what they would do is they would
like he had a captain that was full-time and he would just go and replace all the
hardware and once he got to the front he would go back and start over again so I
yeah all the screws all the little that the tack and the gears and all this stuff
and then once in a while you're like oh I need a sale it's gonna be 100 grand
Kevlar whatever sale yeah it's and that's not even you know getting into
motors and electronics and all this stuff so yeah it's a it's a bit of a hobby
I love though but dude I just saw my hero when I was in Cabo last
pontoon boat out there pontoon boat in the in the ocean looking at wheels and

Sunday's invention puts the electric generator behind a set of move movable
flaps that are mounted in the grill it's an air channel to make sure air is
directed through the generator when the flaps are open then exits out the
bottom or rear of the vehicle diffuser right art so you know you're generating
some electricity but clearly not enough not you know you wouldn't be able to
know like a continuous loop but I don't know it's it's something they're trying
so I mean on the rabbit and figured something out how how I that's
over curious about like is it even do anything I don't know maybe it's enough
to like charge devices so then that's not a draw on I know it's a minor is that
