"Well done. Cool question #2. According to the R35 GTR's chief engineer, he confirmed most people who helped develop the transmission and suspension for the R35 were from what other Japanese company? Car company. The cool question."
"...going to be an Anani Supra, which is an auto or a GR Yaris and I haven't chosen which car yet. I'd I'd like ..."

There's a professional radio. That's front wheel drive have.
You got anyone you want to thank?
Just myself. And now I do the after hours
general. What would you go for?
They see us in there. OK.
And because it's not a supercut, it's not automatic.
Perfection comes in the phone with two letters, A and.
D Long away My Ltd. We're on a Car Talk.
It is a Monday night. Surprisingly, if we're our first
episode of 2025 Comedy's 2025 Gentlemen Online with David Prince, Patrick Nemer, Scotty Doe, and the one and only Chad Deval, I'm going to get that right.
Am I getting it right? Nailed it.
Oh, perfect. So how are you gentlemen?
Happy New Year. Hello Happy.
New Year. To you too.
You too. Very good, good to see you all.
Let's crack on with some car updates and and updates with with yourselves. How how was your holidays start
with Chad? How are you Chad?
How have your holidays been so far?
You back at work and what's been happening in your world, my friend? Yeah, not a lot.
I've worked through saving my holidays for a holiday later this year. So I yeah, it's it's been quiet.
Work's been very quiet. So yeah, it's been, you know,
carefree sort of thing. I've spent a little bit of time
at home over the days off. Are the main days off best?
Things, yeah, I think isn't it the traffic?
'S so good yeah. It's just amazing like there's
just nobody on the road and honestly it's hasn't felt like that for a couple of Christmases I don't know why, but this year is like really quiet like especially.
So no, it's been good. I've been enjoying it.
I've spent a lot of time in the office these days.
So it's been, yeah, it's it's been good.
Well, that's complaints. Really.
Yeah. Are we doing car updates now?
Yeah, man, Straight into it, dude, straight into it.
Well, not not much. The report on my end.
I helped a friend of mine with his Navara so we put some like Pathfinder front guards and doors on his Pathfinder just so it was a little bit more tidy and straight.
It's mainly because all the other panels were buckled on it.
So we spent a day doing that like all of Boxing Day.
So they're. A bit, yeah.
Pumped out the Pathfinder guards compared to.
Yeah, nice. So the Pathfinder guards are
pumped and they also have over fenders as well, like clip on over fenders. So we took the over fenders off
the clip on stuff and sure enough, yeah, it's got like this pumped, very pumped guards on the front and well, the rear is obviously just a tub. So the rear is narrow, narrow
looks good. Yeah, it's, you know, straighter
and yeah. So just worked on that really
and IA little update on the civic.
I managed to chase down the person who hit it.
Hi. So I, yeah, I had a couple of,
sorry, one of my neighbours came over while I was working on the car that day, one of the days and said, look, I think I saw the car, the truck that hit your car and gave me the rego and the date and stuff. So I was like perfect, man, this
is amazing. And I, I tried to, I mean, I
couldn't really find anything. So I went to the police station
and they said, look, we'll try and find the owner and get him to, you know, at least exchange details or whatever.
Strong enough. They got back to me with
something and I went over to this house a couple of times that the address that they gave me and nobody there.
I think maybe like a couple of the times I came over to the studio beforehand, I would drop past and see if it was home because I didn't have a contact number for this guy and all I had was his name and address basically.
And yeah, so I couldn't find him.
And then I don't remember what day it was, maybe last Saturday, the Saturday before. I just thought I'll just drop
past again. I was in the area, sure enough
they were having a BBQ out the back.
So I went up to him and I just said hey man, look I've been trying to get in contact with you regarding such and such and the guy spoke like 0 words of English.
So somewhere at the BBQ end up translating and you know, we, we came to the understanding that it was his boss's truck.
So he gave me his boss's number. I rang him and I said look, I'm
in Sydney, I'll be back, such and such date.
Anyway, I gave him a couple of times to sort of get in contact with me, just to like try and make time, you know, just to meet and have a talk. And anyway, we eventually, I met
him at the Glenroy Coles yesterday, just in the car park.
So I just said look man, this is what's happened.
I'm not sure if anyone, yeah, I was like, I'm either going to get rolled here or like something's going to happen.
Anyway. It was a bit of a loose cannon
and I was like, I'm going to, I'm going to try and keep it as simple as possible. At least it was in a public
place though, So that was, you know, on my side.
Anyway, I just said, look, man, just I've already had to replace the door because the window wouldn't go up and down.
So I'm already about to pay for that.
And then I just need like a few 100 bucks for respraying it just so much as the rest of the car. Like it's a it's a red door at
the moment, right. And he said, you know, brother,
I can get it fixed for you. This that.
I'm like, man, look, I really don't want to go through insurance. Like, I can, I have all your
details now. I can go through insurance and
you'll get pinged for like $1000, right?
For a door. Yeah.
And I just said, he said, all right, yeah, just give me a number. I just said just look, just give
me 400 bucks and I'll just call it even, right?
Like I can't even want to dealing with this.
Like it's already taken me, you know, basically hours just to get to this point. And he said, no, he just pulled
out of water catch and gave it to me.
So I was like, all right, man, take an easy catch later and that was it. So I got a couple hundred, a few
100 bucks to go towards the the paint or the wrap of the civic, whatever will end up happening. So yeah, that's sort of settled.
I don't have to bother with that anymore, which is nice.
So Chad, Chad, just want to clarify, was it was it the boss that hit your car or was it the driver?
It was his worker, like his driver that was driving it at the time. Apparently he left me a note on
the windscreen, but no such thing.
Or, or at least maybe he did, but it blew away or something.
Like I, I didn't see it, but I the, my neighbour also said he just drove away. So I don't believe the guy, you
know, for a second. But yeah, yeah, I really doubt
it. Anyway, all settled in the end,
you know, I'm glad someone was nosy enough to look at what was happening on the street that day.
So I got kind of lucky in that sense, otherwise I just would not have been able to get any details.
So yeah, that's, that's it. That's really it on my end.
I really haven't done any path. I've just been busy with
Christmas, you know? Period, I guess.
And and what did Santa get you, Chad?
Santa got me a nice three tonne Jack from Supercheap Auto, one of the beefy ones which I I'm I'm yet to use.
I still haven't like got out there and sort of apparently I have to service it. It says something like you have
to service it before you use it or something.
You gotta put oil in. I've got the oil if you need it.
Oh, that's what I need. OK, Right.
I haven't even got that far to. Yeah, see what I need.
I'll grab some of that off you, I guess.
Yeah. Because I had to do the same, I
got the same 1. I had to do the same with.
Mine. Oh, nice.
Yeah, yeah. What else did I get?
Just a couple of gift cards. Like, you know, I've got 2 super
cheap out of gift cards, so I'll take those.
Absolutely. What else did I get that was
about it? I think just like some shorts
and shirts and shit like that. Yeah, nice one.
Stuff like that, yeah. Sounds good.
Sounds good. Scotty Doe Johnson.
How are you my friend? Yeah, I'm doing pretty good
enjoying the holiday. Clearly your your hair's grown
out. Your beard's grown out, Yeah.
It's my hair is super duper curly so I'll get a haircut this week. Maybe we'll see how I go.
No, I'm I'm liking the the Wildman, the Wildman look, I like it. I think it's good.
I've been going until the end of the month a. 100%, yeah.
What you do on holidays? Just relax more.
Yeah, yeah. Before I got to go back and
teach grade sixes. Anyway, cast stuff, not really
that much. Went up to Phillip Island over
New Year's for a couple nights and saw a nice red mini moke up there for sale. Fully redone, white interior and
that. I think it was about 30
something grand he was after. 34 1/2 Leopardized force.
A lot of it's a lot of money for a skateboard, isn't it?
Yeah. It's quite literally escaped
what? Quite literally.
AOL. I saw a guy post on Instagram
the other day that the, the original Sierras are now going to be the same thing from the 80s.
He, he posted, is this the new Moke?
Because down on the peninsula, I, I can remember probably 20 years ago now, but I remember seeing a Moke on the side of the road, $500. And I thought, well, that'll
make a cool little card just to keep at the beach house, you know. And yeah, next year there were
three or four of them on on plates.
And then the the prices have just gone nuts from there.
But these little Sierras from I think sort of late 80s, eighty, 688, that sort of shape there was, he saw three of them in the Bleg Area Yacht Club car park. So it's looks like they're going
to be the next one. So buy them up while you can.
It's. Called the financial attacks.
Yeah. It.
Works for Phillip Island I would imagine too.
Oh yeah, sure. Yes, I took the we drove the
blade up there and back and it was beautiful.
Beautiful. Cruise up there nicely and
cruise back. Yeah.
I haven't done anything on the skyline yet.
It's just either been. Yeah, busy with Christmas and
New Year's and too hot and now raining today.
Yeah, so busy with all that. It's about it with car stuff.
I don't haven't done anything else.
And what did Santa get you? A really nice GDR shirt.
It's like a few of the GDRS are not all of them.
Yeah, I like that. Some Lego got some Lego and what
else was there? I think Santa buys that in bulk,
I think, I think he's got to deal with with headquarters.
I think he. Does.
Yeah, yeah, with Lego. Yeah.
Oh yeah, Ash got some Lego too. You know the The Avengers Tower.
Yeah. Yeah, that's what.
You think plugging away out, it is absolutely massive?
It's huge. And then as an extra kind of
Christmas present for myself, I got a steering wheel for the PC.
Nice. Very nice.
Yeah, so I've been having to go at that, having a bit of fun.
Where'd you end up getting Scotty?
The Mozart R5. Yeah, awesome direct drive.
Yep. Awesome.
Yeah that's the one I got. Just been playing a bit of Aceto
Corsa and all the mods and downloading stuff.
Extra cars and tracks and that which makes it even.
Fun. Lovely.
Very good, Mr Patrick. How are you, my friend?
Not. Too bad, not too bad.
How you been? Good man, what's happening with
you? Yeah, not much.
So obviously still on the holidays now.
So I just haven't done a lot. Just been at home chilling.
Go back to work next week, which is always exciting.
But then I'm off to Vietnam next month, which will be fun and.
Interesting. Don't be fun.
Yeah, for for just under 2 weeks, so little breaks.
Look forward to that car stuff. Look not a lot or maybe a little
bit of obviously from the last time show you guys remembered.
But obviously I had the got my car back and I was doing all the the work done from the insurance money I got.
So all new suspension has been fitted in.
So brand new Doberson's 2 inch lift kit, front and rear all done. So new rear leaves and newfound
shocks are in replace both Dr shafts because the boots are completely obliterated themselves from so a lot of it do we need to be replaced. So I've got them got brand new
ones, new ball joints, new bushes, pretty much the whole all suspension has been redone in that car and Matt it it drives like it just left the in factory in 2006.
Matt, it's absolutely fantastic. Everything is tight, nothing is
rattling it. It just feels planted.
It's it's it's great. Don't get me wrong, like still,
you know, obviously being leaf sprung in the rear.
No, and currently no weight in the tub and especially like a day like today when I was going to see my dad.
They're very tail happy. The car definitely was
definitely was committing a bit of Street Oak a few St.
Fights, of course. Highlights of all things.
Yeah, but regardless, the, the car drive's fantastic.
I'm, I'm, I'm very happy with it.
So I think all that's left to do is to remove the damaged tub, put a tray on it, obviously with the toolbox in the back and drip a 12 Volt set up. I want to like go away camping.
And then if depending how I'm feeling, because I'm not really a big fan of my bull bar, I might change it up.
But I don't want to spend too much money on that car.
Kind of just want to leave it where it is.
So that's the Hilux my dad actually did pick up the other day O 9C200 compressor, which is nice which he picked up for a steal of 1500 bucks which they because they thought they bent the valve once in a diabetic mechanic looked at it it was all right bought a whole new timing chain kit replacement kit will cover 100 bucks and got himself a really decent car for you know just under 2 two yeah just under 2 1/2 running driving 200,000
kilometres it's clean very nice car because he's.
He's. Sorry.
I was just saying what a deal. And then he just as well picked
up another for $300.00, a BMW 1 Series 118I with 160,000
kilometres. Now we're going into it knowing
we thought it was puffing a lot of smoke and the guy thought, no, the motor was gone, piston rings were gone.
So Dad's like I, I'll buy the spy of this guy for 300 bucks.
Valve stems for sure. Yeah, I have to obviously
potentially get a new motor. Turns out some person put 10
litres of oil in there. Now don't ask why but it was
this way challenge explains Yeah why he was obvious smoking a shit tonne. So we drained it out re topped
it up and made another steel. I mean he replaced sorry in
that. So he besides trading the oil we
replaced the $50 PVC hose. So for 350 bucks bought himself
at BMW 118I which is CI. Nice looking car, just some M
support trim on it or whatever. Whether it's it came from
factory or some other person, it was clean, it was owned by an old lady. So that's two bargains he's
picked up and I've been driving around in the meantime because the better thing than drive a Hilux 27.
So that that's good. And as well, I've been on a bit
of a bit of a mission in Glasson Park.
Actually, I reside in Roxy. So funny enough, next to my
boss's house there's for a couple of months now there's a blue S15 that's just been sitting there now.
You're talking. And now I haven't seen her
running and driving. The passenger window has been
cracked down a little bit dropped and the body is a bit rough now. I don't I don't know if there's
an engine bar. I've gone multiple times already
and knocking on his door just to get some information on the car has an answer. So I'm just going to keep
testing my luck and just keep hoping one day your answers.
But it is a 200SX I was delivering models.
There's. A silver factory 6B turbo Sr in
TV 3 blue. It's a nice colour.
Good colour, my favourite colour in those.
Yeah, and look, it seems bodies all stock besides it's got the seat on this on one space saver and some shitty aftermarket rims from the early 2000s. But yeah, look, it's it seems
everything's there. Obviously I'm hoping he answers
his door one day so they're not going to talk.
Ask him. Is it still registered?
No plates on it. Wow, he's brave.
So it's just, it's literally just sitting there in plain sight and I see. It hasn't been next.
Yeah. I know, I know.
So I don't know, I want to ask him and just give and just offer him, just give him a number and hopefully he'll take it.
Yeah, because I was, I saw him on the bit of the quarter.
It is a bit, you know, rough. Not terrible, but.
But how you going you? Need to respray all clear coats
all gone and everything. Yeah.
But being a dodgy Arab, I am looking through the window.
All all interior is there. It's complete relatively clean.
Dash is clean, seats aren't torn carpets there.
Mats are surprisingly there as well.
So what do you reckon that Carl should be worth?
Also, I've been discussing with my mates and my dad if look, if there's no, if there's no motor in there and box or just a box, but no motor and seeing the body as it is, I, I think it's reasonable to offer him between 5:00 to 7:00 because then time for me to say time for me to source the motor, the motor, see what other suspension components I need to replace all the bushes, get a hold close or respray.
It was, it will pull me up to kind of a I'll probably have to still put in another 20 or so thousand in there.
But you know, even if I end up paying you say, twenty, $25,000 on the car, it's still a lot cheaper than forking out 4050 grand on one. Yeah, because that's what
they're bringing now, isn't it? That's like a decent one.
They've looked, they've dropped in price, I've seen, I've seen them as low as 30. But in my eyes, it's it's way
too expensive for a Sylvia. I mean like I I grew up with all
my cousins buying him for five 600 bucks. 2. $2000.00 for a
turbo S14 you know 9 grand for a spec car from Japan.
You know I I I can't fathom spending like that much money on a car like that. I mean I mean Scotty, like I
said this many times Scotty can relate with 34.
You know, obviously him paying 40 odd thousand now they're worth like half a million. Like it's it's that doesn't feel
right. Yeah.
So hopefully look, I'll I'll, I'll keep trying my luck.
Hopefully answers one day that has to answer eventually.
Have you left a note on the car? I haven't.
I haven't tried that too. Just leave me.
Try that as well, yeah. Is it could look like a parking
ticket and you might put in a little plastic bag and tape it onto the windscreen and then it might think he's got a parking ticket so he's got to open it because if he's not registered, theoretically you could get a parking ticket.
I mean, so just park in his driveway and yeah, it's like, I'm just been there for a couple of months now and I'm, I'm still surprised. I mean, it hasn't been touched.
Nothing. It's just just out there
collecting dust. I look back, look at it every
time I drive past and I'm like, fuck, you should be with me.
But yeah, besides that, that's that's all my car updates.
And what did Sandy get you for Christmas?
Look, I was been a good boy, but you know, like I think Santa like still is upset with me from a few years ago.
So he just left me a $200 total tools gift card, which thanks Santa. So you know, put a few few me
walking stuff from that so well. That's good.
That's good. That's good.
Yeah. So let's hope that you can get
that as 15 because that that's that's your, that's your Unicorn. That's my Unicorn,
unfortunately. That piece of shit, yeah.
David Prince, how are you, my friend?
I'm doing good, thank you. Yes, yes.
Still on the holidays. I've had a little bit of surgery
just before Christmas, so that sidelined me for a couple of weeks, but I'm coming. Good.
So yeah, I haven't had been out as much as I would have liked to, but slowly getting out again, getting into the cars, talking about cars sitting on the street and, you know, still being there. I did go out to the.
I hadn't driven the Accord for 10 days or so and went out a couple of about a week ago and went to unlock it.
Thought I'd better take it around the block, keep it running and the key wouldn't go into the lock on.
On closer inspection I realised somebody had jammed something into the lock, pulled the door handle off the bodywork of the car, sort of three or four millimetres.
Couldn't get the thing open though, so but it had the end of a pair of scissors broken in the lock.
So of course the lock's wrecked. Luckily they didn't do any more
damage or get into it, but that was pretty annoying.
I maybe, maybe, maybe you should go get the S15 parked over this side of town, maybe to get it lifted over here.
I was staggered. We're we're in a court and it's
quiet as anything the court we live in, you know, like we'd never have anything like that happen.
So I don't know why, whether it was opportunistic or someone's just seen it sitting there or being an older car, they thought it would be easy to pinch or something.
But anyway, left a bit of a sour taste in in in the mouth, but I think I'll be able to get out of.
Interestingly, that car had been broken into before them.
They must be relatively easy before to break into.
It had been broken into before I ever got it so that the the key in the driver's door or the lock in the driver's door had a different key to it anyway, so I'll have to do a bit of fancy key work. I think I'll swap the passenger
door lock with the driver's door lock and then I can lose one key, go down to two keys instead of three keys for the car.
That might work in my favour. But yeah, I mean, we've all got
enough to do with with our cars, the stuff we want to do, as you know, Chad, let alone having to chase people up or, you know, do stuff that other people have done to your car.
That's a pain in the Yeah to get out to a good show on Saturday, on Sunday morning, the Illumo factory down in Keysborough that there's a guy on Instagram, Patrick, who's got a page, I think he's 2JP ZI think his page is and he's got a chaser, Toyota chaser. Yeah, he's on YouTube and
Instagram and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he's got a lot of followers and he, this was his first cars and coffee mate, so pretty blown away by the turn out.
There were probably 350 cars there.
Just everything you can imagine. A lot of Yaris GRS, a lot of FL
fives, but a lot of Porsches. He's got an encyclopaedic
knowledge of Porsches and and Scotty.
I thought of you, the skylines, mate.
There were just so many lovely skylines.
There, does he have the JZX 100 chaser?
Yeah. Pretty much stock, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. I've seen a couple of his tik
toks. Yeah, yeah.
He's on TikTok now as. Well, no, I I, I actually met
him at highball, the last highball.
He was there too, but, and I had a quick chat to him on Sunday.
Yeah, really nice guy, knows his stuff.
He's very cluey and yeah, obviously got a much bigger following than he imagined because there were a lot of people there and a lot of cars. So I caught up with a few
people, people I knew know my mate Malcolm had his NSX there, but he let his 20 year old son drive it.
So there was an NSX with P plates on it that was that was a really good look. But yeah, as I said, some some
really nice, really nice modified the I reckon the GI Yaris must be one of the most well catered for car in the modifications department. Now it, it, there's so many bits
and pieces you can get for it and there was a whole collection of them. I've got a great photo I'll post
up later of me following, following a line of them out of the out of the I look like the annoying, you know, little brother or little cousin there trying to hang out with.
But that's the guy. Yes, yes, yeah.
Scott is just showing us the his page.
I took the N1. I was the only N1 there, not
surprisingly. But yeah, no, that was a good
day. It was really hot on Sunday, but
it was from 8:00 till 8 till 10. And hereby I got there about
8:15 and there were already a couple hundred cars there.
So it was pretty big, really quite an industrial area of Keysborough. So it was really, you know, nice
wide streets and there was plenty of room for everybody.
So yeah, it was a good event. Awesome, and what did Santa
bring you for Christmas? David grunts.
Well, I got a new iPad, which was good.
My, my, I've got a very had a very old iPad that's actually started to fail to turn on. So yeah, I've got too many
events and the things I want to plan that I needed a new one, I thought. So Santa surprised me with one
that was good. Good job Santa, you've been good
to us this year. And chocolate, I seem to get a
lot of chocolate. I don't actually eat chocolate.
So I think it's just the default go to for some people, you know, for men of a certain age, I suppose.
We've got a friend who she's absolute sweetie and she's quite an elderly lady and but she gives me chocolate covered coffee beans every year for Christmas.
Oh yeah, I've got some of those as well.
I don't like chocolate covered, so I must have been really appreciative one year and I continued to get them for many, many years to come. So if any of you ever feel that,
you know, run out of chocolate covered chocolate covered coffee beans, hit me up. It, it's funny when when you
when you get gifts like that and and you're, you're so well, thank you. Oh, you know, you're so kind and
and deep thing. You're like, oh, I, I don't like
this. But then you keep getting them
every single year. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's, it's it's like when it's like when you when you go to somewhere and and they've made you dinner and you're like, oh, I better eat it even though I don't like it.
How do you think it is? Oh, it's really good.
And you're like, oh, and then the next time we go there, oh, I made it for you again because you liked it so much the last time the. Worst.
Yeah, not not the most fun thing to have.
What about you? What are your cap?
Updates with me So what have I done so we got the Forester back as you guys, you know, would have known my sister, my sister's going to live overseas for a few years so she's going to the UK. So she's like the Forester, you
know, you can have it back. And so Steph and Pam were were
sharing the the laser, gold laser named Norma, which has been great. No, no issues there.
You know, Steph said, oh, you know, it probably good to have my own car as well, just to, you know, just just in case I'm like, yeah, that's fine. So, so Steph's taken ownership
of the Forester, which has been great.
So we drove that to Adelaide and back and it was pretty good.
On the way back, I was passing all these cars and I thought I was king of the road. And then I got AI got a blowout
on the right rear. And then I watched all the cars
I overtook pass me. There's always changing as I was
changing the tyre. So like I wasn't pissed off
about the blowout. I was pissed off with that.
I did all that hard work to get past and then I had to overtake him again once I once I got, you know, back on the road.
So that was a little bit, that was a little bit annoying, but yeah, the tie blew out and it blew both sides was out of the tie, which I've never seen happen before.
It was. It.
Was nuts, yeah. So, but I'm like, it's OK, I'll
take those wheels off because let's just say my sister likes gutters with them. So I'm going to get the I'm
going to get the edges skimmed. Just just keep them just metal.
I'm not going to pan because the face of the wheels are perfect.
So let's get the edges skimmed and then pop them back on and they will look they'll look good.
So I'll, I'll do that once once I'm back from my holiday that I leave for on Thursday. What else car related have I
done? I think that's been pretty much
it because I've been I've been, you know, running around.
I went to some records when I was in Adelaide.
Got David Prince. Yeah.
That was awesome. Some lovely hubcap centre caps
for I believe they're. Are they a prelude centre cap?
Those ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Third Gen Prelude. 3rd Gen prelude, Yeah.
So I've got a set of those and got a few bits and pieces for lasers, etc. So, yeah, it was, it was quite a
quite a nice, productive, productive holiday.
Mr Forrest though it's been, it's been, it's actually a really good car to drive. You know, I soften up the
suspension. So, you know, you can, you can
take the big bumps on the on the way that I'd laid a lot nicer.
But the last two, like the last two days, Stephanie was like, to me, she's like, there's something wrong with the clutch pedal. I'm like, Oh, no, you're
probably just not used to it. She's like, no, it's on the
floor. I'm like, oh, OK, so I go out
and sure enough it was on the floor and you give it a few pumps and it came back to life and I was like, OK, it's probably a slave cylinder. I got to drive it today and I
was on the floor again. I'm like, OK, so that need
that's that needs to get fixed. So had a look.
Turns out the slave cylinders are external and the lines to them are just under underneath the intercooler.
And it's very, it's very common for Subarus to have them, you know, just wear, they wear out after about 250,000 K.
This one's done 300 and almost 15,000 kilometres.
So, so I will, I will do that once I'm back from the land of the rising sun, which would be which would be exciting.
In terms of other car updates, I think that is I've been dropping the Fiesta a whole heap. So that's been great.
Yeah, I might take out the typhoon tomorrow.
So we'll see how we see how we go.
Nice. What did what did turn to get
you Maddie? Sarah got me a a key for my MR2.
I think I I might have put it in the in the group chat, but try to find it if I've got it here. Nice.
Yeah, very cool. You can see it, but I'm going to
get it cut to the to the car. But as David Prince was saying,
you know, you can, you can't do that because like my MRT was broken into, believe it or not, not, not recently, since before I got the car and, and the, and the drive and well, it was stolen actually. And the driver's side door has a
grommet, doesn't have a keyhole anymore because the, the person, you know, broke it. They just covered it up.
So it's got a different ignition key and a different door key.
So I'm going to try to do is, I'm going to try.
Apparently David knows some people that can do some lock wizardry and make all those locks work with the one key, which would be this one, which would be nice.
That's cool. I'm going to maybe get the
number of that person off you as well.
Sure, no problem. So that's the plan for that.
I also got some Lego. Scotty would be would be having
an I I seem to get a Lego every year, which is which is always a good thing. I got the old Mario Yoshi.
That's the one I got. Yeah, that's so I haven't, I
haven't built that yet, but that'll be, that'll be a job when I when I when I come home. That's so good.
From Yapan. And that's pretty much what else
it's going to get me. I've got a few different just
just different bits and pieces. I've got a lot of chocolate.
I actually like chocolate David Prince.
So you're more than welcome to send it my way.
Yeah. So that's been pretty much it on
my car updates, gentlemen. Now two things I wanted to talk
about tonight in particular. First thing is, did you guys
hear about the certain area in Melbourne that wants to charge people to work on their cars? Yes, yeah, I did.
Yeah, but what? Area was that.
Again, it was a more affluent area.
From what I from what I read it was the City of KC in Melbourne SE. So Cranbourne Berwick requires
residents to apply for private land use permit if they're planning to store more than 200 registered vehicles for up to 90 days, store long heavy vehicles, and even dismantle, repair or service vehicles. So the permit costs 150 bucks.
And you have to, I think there's a pay a charge to apply for the permit. Correct, you have to apply for
the permit which if if non successful that you that you it's a non refundable you know not refundable you know fee.
And while the permit for storing 3 or more unregistered vehicles or working on your own vehicle is $250, so.
That's own property. What a joke.
So, gentlemen, now I'm pretty sure I know what the answer is going to be here. Is this just a cash grab one and
two, do you think that Melbourne is the California of of America?
Because we are, we are kind of getting that way with a lot of ways with stuff like this, like that's like, you know, working in your car is are we trying to, to kind of, you know, outlaw that now? Is that, is that, is that what's
happening in, in, in the world? Because it's it's kind of
getting a little bit a little bit crazy.
Was this just talk like it's not going through or?
It's proposed it's. Proposed yeah.
So it's it's it's been it's been more than talking Scotty.
It's it's you know, it's a it's a proper thing like they're they're planning on doing this. So, you know, obviously the
backlash was, was, was it's quite severe.
They, they, they only thing they expected people to, to, to, to be in arms as much, as, as much as they had.
And with fair reason, I think because, you know, the at the end of the day, you know, so some people like, like to work on their cars at home. Some people like to, you know,
wash their cars, you know, the stuff like that.
And this is just another, another way for, you know, for counsel and send people to, to make, to, to, to fill their, to fill their pockets, which, which, you know, I, it, it's frustrating for the, for the average Joe who, you know, who, who, who likes to do that, to do their maintenance and, and, and like us all, like all five of us, we like to tinker in our garages and, and do stuff like that.
And, you know, I, I, you know, for a lot of people, it's, it's quite relaxing, even though many profanities are used in Scotty.
I'm sorry. So, you know, it's, it's one of
those things that I'm just like, what are they trying to do here?
Like, like if you know, are they trying to say who are the people that can we can we can sting them more to get people.
Oh yeah, people who work on their cars.
Let's, let's get them. First of all, gentlemen, I want
to get your opinion on the topic.
And I want to see what like you know as as a possibility where this can go. Well, I'm more than happy to.
Start, gentlemen, be seated. Scotty's taking the room, could
the member from Sunbury please, please?
There's two things I want my council to do.
Yeah. Number one, empty my bins #2
keep parks and that looking nice.
That's it. That's all we've got them for.
Simple. All we wanted them for.
And the roads keep the roads good because the roads are a mess. Don't.
Want them to do anything else, it's none of their business.
They're not lawmakers, they're not the police.
They can't tell me what I can do around my property.
I pay enough in rates. They already charge your heaps
depending on the size of your houses and your land, so you don't really technically own land.
Because you pay. So much for it anyway so I don't
know. They're just trying to grab and
suck as much money out of people as easy as possible.
Someone would have, I'd say someone in the council is trying to make a name for themselves, which a lot of these council people do because they don't really have a life.
And they found this one little thing.
They thought, Oh yeah, I could. I could make us more money.
If I make us more money, that'll knock me up the chain and I can start pocketing more money and take more bribes, which most of them do. Yeah, absolutely.
Because there's no way that none of them are lining their own pockets with deals they're making around.
And, you know, you can move into politicians too.
They're pretty dodgy as well. Yeah, I mean, you're not really
a politician. You're just a council worker in
one small area. In one small area.
True, but harsh. Oh no, not even close.
David Prince According to Scotty, the truth hurts.
The truth hurts so. You're working for us to help
us, not to make our lives worse, to line your pockets with more money. And I know people say that like,
you know, they say that to the police and stuff like that.
Now that's different. I'm not saying that the police,
you know, oh, I pay for your wages with the police.
That's not what I'm trying to say with the council people.
It's that you are there specifically to actually work for us. That's the whole point of the
government, to have councils. They brought in the councils so
then the government can concentrate more on laws and running the country and gave you these little aspects to help run the little things, not making our lives worse and having a fight and get all these permits over everything.
All right, some of it makes sense.
Like, OK, I kind of understand you can't park on the nature strip because you've got pipes and stuff and all that running underneath it. OK, fair.
Got that? Is that what they've?
Told you and of course you can't park and block the footpath.
That makes obvious sense. That's what the footpath is
there for. That's fine, fine people for
that, that's fine. That's all good.
But when you start making up all this just little just like where do you even get this idea from? You know, and and there's other
councils that are coming up with ideas in the past about stopping cars driving down main streets and just having bicycles now.
And I think that was around the same area too.
They're trying to do that one of the main streets.
And. Stop stop parking or something
they wanted to do and just have bikes going down there.
I remember that a while back and you just park with these absolute stupid ideas that I think will win them some votes because obviously we've just moved into a election year to try and bump themselves up. But yeah, they're full of
rubbish. I don't think it's going to go
through and if it does, I really hope people never apply for it and service their cards and do whatever they want.
And if you get the fine, screw it up and throw it in their face. I, I don't see how you could get
that fine and you could take that to court.
I can you could get it thrown out.
Car a car took top tier. If they, if they give that to
you, just throw it back at them because it's like it's not going to stand for, it's not going to stand on on any form in court.
I don't see how it could. I don't see how you'd have to
get a permit to service your own car on your own property.
I just, I don't see how it could.
It could happen. I, I just feel like you're
paying so much to, to live there in general.
You're paying the bank, you're paying, you're paying your raise. You know, it's, you know, it's,
it's your, it's your sanctuary, it's your, it's your den.
You know, why can't you, why can't you do that?
But could the member of Roxburgh Park please take the stand and and and give us your your two cents?
Mine two cents. It will be a lot more than just
two cents, I'll tell you what. Half of dollars.
Oh, mate, honestly, I think I think it's a joke.
Yeah, I think it's I should be on and joke and that people have gone insane. And like the fact that like you
say, you're on your own property, you're not causing harm, you're not on the nature strip, you're not on the main road, you're on your property. And the fact they can propose a
bill like that just for a cash grab, just to grab votes, it's, it's, it's beyond a joke. And it's, and honestly, it's
disgraceful. And it's, it's sad that we've
got into a stage like that where obscene proposals like these ones are just coming out left, right and centre like it's nothing. And people, and like these
people generally think it's, they're doing the right thing.
So and look, try to pull a stunt like that, you know, in the areas of the northern suburbs such as Roxburgh Park.
Good luck. Good luck trying to enforce that
rule. People don't enforce the the
normal laws you want to is trying to enforce time like this. I mean, granted this allegedly
happened in Mexico. I was with my mate in his 500
kilowatt GCC turbo doing 250 kilometres allegedly in Mexico.
Allegedly, of course. You know, and where like you got
people doing stuff like that. You get, you know as well, you
know, the conditions of the roads and even just nature strips and the town itself. It's not up to scratch.
Everything's broken. So why not focus your time?
You know, if you want to win votes and win favours, focus on fixing the actual area we live in instead of adding morals of where where we already live in. Yeah, but.
Patrick, that doesn't make him money.
Well, you see they use, they have to use money.
That's the problem. That's why they won't do it.
We are about that. I can't see over the top.
It's overgrown with weeds. I can't see.
Not that long ago, a person in the middle of the night brought their lawnmower and actually mowed it themselves because the council didn't do it. Oh.
Jesus, that's so static. It's overgrown again.
Cancel it. They're just they're a freaking
joke, you know, and God forbid if something was that was going to happen. And I if I see if I cop a farm
for, you know, changing the I like a headlight bulb for my car, mate. I'll, I'll, I'll, I'll a rock up
marching to the council Humes City Council with pitchfork and the torch, you know, but there's there's no way.
And like, I think that like the general population and like would think the same. Just everyone would just laugh
and spit in their faces. Yeah, so I don't see it
happening. I can get a a lot more into it,
but I think it's for the sake of this podcast and everyone's standing. So I try to keep a very taming
PG, but it it'd be, it'd be right.
It's like even I've heard a few MAS discussing about it and the stuff that they were saying. What they'll do is I can't
repeat on on live on on this podcast.
It's pretty severe. But yeah, I I think the majority
of people think it's a joke. I think it's just, yeah, like
it's a cash grab. Try to make more money out of
us. Not like we're always struggling
as it is with the cost of living through the roof at an all time high. You know, housing's through the
roof. It's, you know, you think, you
know, the government will try to look after you, but you just keep getting put down and down and yeah, slowly and slowly.
Look, I don't want to get too political, but, you know, for a country where we supposedly have freedom, it sure doesn't feel like it. So I'll end up that.
when you look at it from the from that instance, you know, you're supposed to have, you know, a free area to do things.
But you know, I get why people say all these taxes and all these, you know, all these different things that come into play here are really affect they're, they're really, they affect the the average person. And if my neighbours knew the
amount of stuff that I like, I do like, I change wheels and stuff all the time in the, in the driveway and everything where I live. It's, you know, if that, if that
was the thing, I'd be like, well, garage goes down, music goes up, No one can hear anything.
Yeah, anything that I'm doing. So it, yeah, it's, it's a bit of
a weird one. Does that, sorry, does that the
bill they're proposing is that, does that include in your garage on the driveway? It says so.
It says on your property on your.
Property. Yeah, that's.
Property. I'm reading it now.
Anywhere on the property. Wow.
So according to the City of Casey's Community Local Law, those without a permit mustn't dismantle, repair or service their vehicles on private land in circumstances where the activity or use is detrimental to the amenity of the area or the where the private land is located does that.
Even me. Yeah, that's exactly right.
So to add another layer to the process, the permit applications must be received 14 days before the date of which the permit is needed. So the City of KC hasn't
explicitly detailed how much residents will be fined if they do not submit a publication or carry out activities without 1.
So you know and you know it is a is volatile to recognise the imposition this decision places on homeowners.
So the KC crime page, which stated which started at a Change.org petition. It contradicts the core
principle of private property rights, which under under which we should have the right to use our land as we see fit without governmental intervention as long as we aren't causing harm on this to others. So, yeah, it's, it's interesting
to it's interesting to see, you know, I don't know.
It's, it's interesting to say, to say that the way that they're they're justifying it. But could the member of Glenroy
please take the stand and and explain what what he thinks?
Yeah, I, I just don't think it's a viable thing.
I'm not sure how they would even police it.
Is it going to be based on complaints?
Is someone going to have to dub you in so that they send a council person out in three to five business days?
Like I just don't, I just don't see it being a viable even if they were to pass it all that, I just can't see it, you know, being policed properly and. I I don't think though, I think
having a read of it, police will have nothing to do with it.
Well, there you go. You can't even get the council
to pick up your hard rubbish from outside your house on time, the time they ask you to put it down.
So I feel like they've got other things, you know, to focus on.
But let's just say that, yeah, they they do, you know, bring this into effect. And as you said, Maddie, garage
door down, music up. Sorry, I just like listening to
the sounds of a Milwaukee impact drill at 2:00 PM on a Saturday.
That's just what I'm into it it it's white noise for me.
It calms me down anyway. Duck, duck, duck.
Duck, duck, duck, duck. Yeah.
Just like, yeah, I'm, you know, I'm in my Zen zone.
Anyway, Yeah, I. I.
Just don't see. I just don't see any of this.
I really hope it doesn't get to a stage where people have to hide what they do or whatever, but it will be interesting if Casey does go through with it, if anyone else follows suit.
I think places like Mary Beck and the very sort of Labour or Green intensive councils will probably try and do similar things. It will be interesting, but
yeah, I'm not sure anyone's really going to be bothered enough to, at least in this group, bothered enough to, you know, abide by it because it, I mean, my neighbours were having a 2 day party during Christmas that went for 48 hours with music to a level where it was like you couldn't sleep.
So how is that not detrimental to what was the words that they used? Public amenity.
Public amenity. Detrimental the amenity of the
property. Cool.
Just taking a wheel off my car. That's disturbed the whole
bloody council apparently. Anyway, yeah, I'm, I'm really
looking forward to see what happens with it because.
But I think what Scotty said about being a, a election year for local councils and all that stuff, I think it's just one of those like random tactics that we're like, oh, what if we do this? We might gain 20% of, I don't
know, anti car people's vote or something like that.
I don't know, just just some, just it's just like a weird play out of a random book that they opened well.
They would have lost my vote, that's for sure.
But yeah. You're you're awesome.
Everyone else, a lot of other people, yeah.
So yeah, we'll see. Could the member for the
southeastern suburbs who is on that side of town who's closer, a lot closer to Casey than us? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, I've got, I've got a theory about it.
I reckon someone on the council has got a neighbour that's got a couple of Vt Commodores lying on their side in the front yard and a Camille to jam down the down the sideway.
Nothing against, hold on. This is purely representative
of, you know, no, no insult intended to any of our listeners. But yeah, they just thought this
is outrageous. We're not.
We don't have to put up with this when it's they're perfectly entitled to wherever they like with their own property.
As as Scotty said, quite rightly, you pay your rights.
You, you, you, you're paying not only you're paying for your house, you're paying for the right to be on that bit of land for them to do your bins and fix your fix your streets.
Yeah. And then someone's just said, I
know what we'll do. We'll fix them.
We'll, we'll just suck this little bit of a tax on.
And, and interestingly, I reckon the sort of people that it's aimed at are not a lot of the sort that are going to, you know, apply for a permit and then, you know, even pay a fine if they get one. So, yeah, it's, it's a complete
crock. I don't know how many, I don't
know how many signatures they have on the petition yet, but that'd be interesting to know. Yeah, I I just think it's a
joke. Sadly, it's not a joke, but I
think it's a joke. Yeah, yeah.
No, it's it's. Definitely.
It's the sort of thing reading it, you had to check the date.
Like is this like first is about people like having your art here? This is just ridiculous.
It's a bit or it's a bit Orwellian, isn't it?
Like it's just it's, it's, you know, are we, are we in 1984?
Is, is this what's, is this what's happening now?
The, the the thought police? Oh, he's working on his car
again. Well, he's thinking about
working on his car again. Yeah, I, I don't know, but like,
like what? What are your neighbours going
to do? Oh, have you got a permit,
David? Yeah, it's right here.
Thank you very much. Oh, I can carry on, Sir.
Like it's yes. Like, no, no one's got a bloody
care, are they? Like.
Like really? That's really going to go a long
way towards neighbourly relations, isn't it too?
Oh. Man, so you're, you're asking me
for my permit. Why?
Why not? To show you my permit.
Well, I'm gonna, I'm gonna dub you in.
Dub me in. You know, I wish we had a Rob
here for this episode because like, you know, he's had.
He. Is he's escapades with his
neighbours has been, let's just say interesting.
You're colourful very. But it's, it's just a weird,
weird thing to propose. Like, OK, I, I will admit, like,
you know, I, I can kind of see things like they might have brought this in because, oh, there's, you know, there's these unregistered cars that are just, you know, taking up, you know, space in, in people's yards and stuff.
We don't want them, you know, maybe you can say, you know, something else or, or you can pay to keep them there because they're not registered, but even then they're on your property.
So that negates that, but for them for you to do like a basic maintenance on your car like a service or still you know, it's not an oil change or anything simple to to require a permit and you can't start it until you receive the permit.
It's 14 days, 14. Days.
Yeah, it's like 14 days before thinking of doing what you want to do. Yeah, it's, it's, it's quite
literally Orwellian, like we are, you know, I, I don't think I've ever seen anything like this before.
So, yeah, I, I can see what people are people are getting, you know, getting pretty, you know, pretty, pretty messy about it online. Like this.
Some of the some of the comments probably not suitable for the show, but they're, you know, they they were like this is this is next level, you know, cash grabbing.
Like, it's interesting that they've that they've gone about that, that, you know, the route that they have to do this because in the interests of people who, who, who have a hobby that's taking their hobby away, you know, like, you know, absolutely. So.
So what do you want to make us do, you know, do nothing.
Yeah. I, I, I don't know how I feel
about that. Like, if you have to work in
your car in that area, you're gonna have to drive out to the street where it's no longer Casey.
All right, I can start working on my car.
Yeah. It's not just on the side of the
road, you know, it's. Because I don't care about my
meth lab in the garage. Meth is good.
It shows me your car is bad. Yeah, you're.
Going to start Breaking Bad now. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, that's why you bought a the Pontiac Aztec, Scotty.
I make it all makes sense now. It all makes sense now, my
friend. Pizza on my roof.
Bad but yeah, look, it's it's nuts is what it is.
I, I don't think I've. I've seen things like that being
passed down before. You know, it's if if this goes
through, which it looks like it possibly will, you know, for those people who are living in those areas, you know, I'm sorry that's that's that's pretty pretty terrible.
But for us in the areas that we live in, I'm worried that that's going to set a precedent and it's going to, it's going to and it's going to follow suit. And because, because humans are
sheep by nature, if that happens to like, you know, the city of wherever you are, you know, it, it's gonna, it's gonna cause a bloody, you know, a massive riot because like, you know, you're quite literally, you know, taking rights away of, of people for what they want to do on their own properties.
So, you know at that point, OK, so you can't, you can't service your car, OK, you can't mow your lawn with a, a, a, you know, a, it's called a, a lawn mower that's got a that uses a petrol engine. You must use an electric one
because it disturbs the peace. You know, it's the same kind of
method, right? Like the same method to that
madness. Yeah.
Where do you stop? Where do you draw the line where
it's like, not detrimental to the use of a property?
Because there's a lot of things that are?
Oh, yeah. So like and that, that and that
for me is like, is like, where do you, you're right.
Where do you draw the line? Like, like where do you, where
do you draw the line to, you know, to stop?
Because, because if that, if they pass that, you know, it's just, it's just the floodgates will open, you know, and, and, and, and that, that's what worries me.
It's not, it's not the servicing of the car, it's the floodgates of, you know, you know what this could lead to.
They've passed that we'll be able to pass.
No walking your dog down the street in this area or you know what have you, because it's, it's, it sets a precedent.
And for me that's, it's like I'm not very political and we're not very politically on the, on this show.
But in terms of, in terms of what this could lead for, for, for us or for even normal people, in terms of what you can and can't do by a, by a, a council regulating you, not federally, not state laws. You know, your, your, your area,
what that dictates you can do. It's a really, really big issue.
And I, I think people, people are, people are missing that point of, you know, where does it stop?
Like if this is the start, where, where does it stop?
Because, you know, if you, if you, if you're going to try to control that, OK, well, what else are you going to control and control? And that, and that for me, is a
scary proposition because, you know, you can't walk your dog between 4:00 and 5:00 PM on these streets.
And you can't do this and you can't do that.
And only men can walk on this side of the road and women can work on this side of where does the line get drawn?
It's like a domino effect, once one thing falls the rest will follow suit. So it probably be something as
small and true as, yeah, you can't work on your cars property, which still is shit in regards, but they'll take something that's small. And yeah, like I said, Maddie,
once they pass that, they're like, all right, if we can pass this, then we'll pass that. And just slowly, slowly, slowly
to a point where eventually you won't be able to leave your house without a permit. Well, that that's the thing, but
also you got to think of the repercussions too.
People would want to get out of that area, right?
So, so they're going to be like, well, I'm going to move.
House prices are going to come down in that area because people don't, people wouldn't want to move there.
Would you want to move to like, a, you know, an area that that, you know, makes you want to pay to?
Oh, yeah, you have to pay to walk your dog every week.
You got a $50 walking fee, you know, like it's, it's, you know, would you want to do that? God, no.
You'd be silly too. So, you know, you got to think
it's the repercussions for the people living there as well, for the homeowners there. They're like, you know, oh, I'm
trying to sell my house. Oh, you know, it was rated at
800,000, you know, six months ago.
All these new laws are coming. You're looking at 5:00 because
no one wants to live here. We can't sell your property.
You know, it's, it's there's they're not thinking about the repercussions that that are coming along with this with, with a law, you know, you know, like that.
Now, as I said, I'm not very political.
I don't really know, you know, much about, you know, how, how it all works, But you know, how would they police?
That is my next question. Like, like, how like are they
going to have like, you know, the, the thought police cameras in your in your TV's in your house, like are like, are they going to have your neighbours DOBing you in?
Are they going to have these people driving around streets just just checking for people working on their cars?
Like, like, how are you going to place it?
And when you give them a fine, you know, what's, what's the person to say about No, I'm not paying that.
Like do they get the sheriff's involved?
Like, like what is the next step?
Because that is, that is what the the listeners would would kind of need to know here. They have to, I reckon, rely on
people dobbing other people in. Yeah.
They're not going to hire more council people to drive around and check for starters. There's no way council Rangers
would come and try and give you a fine that's going to end with police coming because they've been assaulted.
Yeah, yeah. It's not going to work.
It's the only way it's going to work is people doping in on each other. That's it.
Which I mean, I understand. It's almost like, because I'm
pretty sure there already is council laws and things on hoarders and how that can be detrimental to not just that property, but other people's properties because it brings attracts rats and things like that.
So I get that that takes a bit to get the council involved and the council will pay and get all that stuff removed and, and things all for that. That's fine.
But I feel like as you're saying how it's kind of made such a huge effect, you've got this one thing at the top of hoarding and how gross cities and dangerous to everyone's health, including the people living in that home. To me, just wanting to change my
oil, servicing a car, you know, it's like a it's a pretty big jump. Yeah, absolutely.
It's yeah, like as I'm with you here, like if your house is like, you know, quite literally hoarded and you it's it's affecting the other area. Absolutely.
I completely agree. Yeah, and they do.
I've seen on TV, they go there and they issue things to those people and try and help them out.
And then they get people to come in and they clean it all out.
They'll have drones, drones flying around the top checking out your backyard, see if you've got too many cars.
I mean, I think they already have those at some points in Melbourne, so like. They don't have to get permits.
To be violence and. In certain areas, they can't
just fly them anywhere. We can't.
I mean, they've got a permit to do that either, yeah.
Again, it's you know who's who's going to stop them?
I will single handedly. The The member of the member of
Sunbury has come to play. Yeah, it's what do we trust?
It's what do we trust, I think. This will be my first year that
I'll be kind of a little bit more invested in politics.
Oh, because of this? No, no, no, no.
Just I, I think I don't want to go all politics or anything like that because it's steering away from card talk and all that, but I'll just say that I just don't think both parties are viable anymore Viable options, our two party system.
You heard it here first. Vote for Scotty.
That's what I'm going to do, Scotty.
For PMI. Don't think I'll be very good
but. You can lead us, Scotty.
I couldn't do any worse, could I?
Scotty for PMI think that's that's that's what we're doing.
Scotty for PM Lovely. Next point.
What's the next topic before we get into the quiz is cars we're looking forward to in 2025, gentlemen, Obviously there's there's a whole bunch of new cars coming as there is every year. Is there anything you guys are
looking forward to? And if there is, would there be
anything that you would consider a, a viable option to possibly for you to buy? So I'll leave it in your capable
hands, gentlemen. I've got a couple on my on my
list. There's not many that are
interesting me to me at all, but you know, there are a few that are that are coming. So I'd like to get your opinion,
gentlemen. I'm kind of looking forward to
the new Mitsuhon Nissan GTR. Good point.
Yeah. This would be good though mate,
Wondering what the logo will look like with all three compilers. That's very good.
Yes, it's a, it's a skyline evolution type R Yeah, that's very good. Yeah, could.
Be good, yeah? Interesting.
Yeah, that's a bit of a, that's a bit of a show in itself, isn't it really? Yeah, yeah.
What are you guys looking forward to that are coming out in the in this this upcoming year gentlemen?
I'm looking actually kind of blame my brother for a sort of him working at Ford, but I'm keen to see the the new Ranger Super Duty that's coming out. Is this.
Yeah, apparently, yeah. It's a bit bigger, but not as
big as an F150 and there's a different Moto and whatnot.
So you're interested to see how that is how that turns out and yes, see what the if everyone's going to start, you know, leaving the Raptor going towards that instead.
So can't you see that or but besides that, that's probably the only thing I've seen. Great.
Another dual cabbie. It's too big for weeds.
I I think it's slim Pickens. I've got to say.
I'm, I'm, I'm racking my brain. I don't think there's much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, nothing that.
Four of new cars coming out. Whether they'll be the sort of
thing that interests us and our listeners is another thing.
I think we're getting the Cybertruck this year, OBR.
Oh, is it actually coming to Australia?
I think it's coming here this year, yeah.
So that'll be interesting. If it doesn't blow up on the
ship on the way over. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right.
If it gets stuck on, it gets stuck on the nature strip.
I'll pull it out with my locks no problem.
Oh, I'd see those videos. I mean just looking at a list
that like this website postedlikewitchcar.com, it's
like 95, not 95, but like 75% plug in hybrid or EV.
There's just like nothing that stands out.
Like I just saw something Honda is bringing out a Civic Rs but not in Australia which is like a light type of light.
Those speed manual. I would have been bloody cool,
but damn it, why don't we get anything cool?
Yep, it's so boring. Yeah, electric Harvard.
Yeah, Cadillac coming over. The lyrics, I actually saw one
of those the other day. Oh, really?
I saw, I saw an Altona car park. Yeah, Altona Junction.
Was it like a left hand drive version or something?
No, I'm pretty sure it was running drive a Lyric V the guy was driving, but I'm like, I'm like, what the hell is that?
I'm like, Oh my God, it's a Cadillac.
And I looked at the plate was a Lyric and yeah, they were driving and they parked it and Yep, there you go.
So, so they are, they are. There's some here, whether they
whether they sell or not, it's another story.
But there's all the car companies coming to Australia too, by the way. So that'll be that'll be an.
Interesting. Yeah, we've got what?
Like Zika? Zika D pal.
All these, all these. Yeah.
JMC's coming what? What was that?
Sorry. DMC is coming.
JMC yeah, they'll make a, they'll make their their thing.
But yeah, there's there's a few, there's a few cars, you know Jilly, I think Jilly's coming to Australia if they're not here already. So yeah, it'll be interesting to
see what they. It's a JKU.
Jku's coming. I've stopped asking questions.
JAECO. O oh, I think it's Korean car.
No, it's Chinese. No, whoops.
No, it's a it's cherry. It's the cherry.
It's one of the cherry. Brands, one of their brands, OK.
Yeah. All right.
Well. It's.
Funny, yeah. It looks like there's a new
Genesis G80 coming. Yeah, that'd be nice.
But it's just like a S class thing.
Limo type car looks cool, but I think it's going to be hybrid.
So there you go. Not one manual.
Not one manual. I think like maybe not even one
of the vans, like a Ford Transit, Maybe that one's manual. But yeah.
But God forsaken Ford Transit please.
I drive one every day for work. No, that's they're not they're.
Not too bad are the vans are custom.
It is custom, yeah. Ford Transit Custom, Yeah,
that's not bad. But man, very nice.
Just quickly off topic. Yeah, ma'am.
Well, my boss bought bought the transit for for work.
He obviously wanted something automatic, but they didn't have him in the auto. So he obviously bit the bulletin
and he bought it. Fantastic car.
It's it's got the hills Start Stop stopping.
So, like, easy to drive as a manual.
But anyway, he bought the car and then three weeks later, exactly, they released the automatic version and he was paining himself fueled. And now he's going to buy
himself, Yeah, a new year and then give me the burden of driving that everywhere. So.
Well, at least you can dump the clutch and have a bit of fun that that'll. Be oh.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, actually. No, no, no.
I guess he watches him. No, no, no, no, I don't.
I drive. I respect.
The van. I respect the van.
Well, I've I've got a few starting with starting, I don't know, riveting listening to our to our tour listeners, the New Forest that looks kind of cool, which is which is gonna be coming out this this year. Hopefully they come up with a
forester XTI want to see if that actually happens.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the new Jeep Wagoneer S like the like the their big their big waggon.
I think it's a good looking car. It'd be miserably unreliable,
but it's a good looking car. It'll be nice to see to see some
of those on the road. The Lexus LBX Marizo, So that's
like it's like a mini SUV. I'll be driving one of those in
Japan, actually a version of it when I'm in the Fuji Speedway.
It's got the the RSGR. Drivetrain.
Oh wow. Automatic I assume?
Automatic. I believe there is a manual
option somewhere in like. Some parts of the world are
getting a manual version of that, which would be.
That's really cool. Really.
Really cool. I can get behind that.
I think that. I think I'm on board with that.
It looks. Like it would be priced all
right. Too Correct.
Yeah, it's not much difference than a, you know, than those.
So, so yeah, the GR Supertrack edition, which is like the last Supra coming mid 2025 apparently.
So that's that's what we're getting as our final edition there. They did offer a final edition
overseas, which got more power, but ours just got more truck suspension before they phase that out.
So so that'll that'll be good to see the ID buzz if we actually ever get it, which. They priced it their price.
I actually went on the website the other night and priced the cargo version because they are pretty cool.
I do like those actually. And what are?
What are? What are they after?
90 grand. That was the the.
Yeah, it's. Yeah, the commercial version.
I'm just, I'm just surprised that we haven't got a confirmation of time for the new Honda Prelude.
So I thought it was coming this year, but it must be coming 2026 because there's nothing on them for a 2025.
Interesting. I would have thought it would be
probably Tokyo Motor show at the end of the year.
Yeah, I would have thought. Yeah, that because I'm looking
at like 3 or 4 different sites currently and nothing says anything about the probably had been confirmed.
So so that'll be that'll be interesting to see.
But they're they're my list of quite honestly, not many good things that are coming out. That was a quick list.
Yeah. It's, I just, I feel like when
we do this every year, our lists get smaller like and smaller and smaller like. There is quite literally nothing
that they really interest me. What about the new Ferrari and
Lamborghini? Scotty, let's be honest, unless
we win the lottery, we're not getting one of those anytime soon. So let's.
Well, I'll say thank you Ferrari for keeping the V12.
Yes, I will agree with that. The new Daytona looking one,
that's a lovely looking car. Crazy.
It's, you know, good looking car.
What Car was this? So they haven't called it the
Daytona, have they, Scotty? But they've called it the.
Is was it the Ferrari 12 cylindry?
Teles. Top cylindry.
That's it. 12 cylindry, which quite literally translates
through 12 cylinder. I'm pretty creative, yeah.
I don't know if you've seen this car, gentlemen, but I think that's a good looking car. I really like the front end on
it. I like the back end on it.
Like for for one of these, like, you know, high, high end cars to to impress me that that does the job.
That's that's really it's a really good looking thing.
I would I would happily have one in my in my driveway.
I'd have a Ferrari 12 cylinder. That's quite literally what it.
Translates to sorry guys, I just got a call.
I'm gonna have to exit the the convert for tonight early.
So it's just kind of tricky so, but good to people.
Hopefully you're OK. Yeah, good.
To see you too mate. Thank you guys.
Yeah, Patricks. Anyway, see.
You guys all. Right gentlemen, should we get
into the car quiz? You know the rules. 12/12/10
questions plus some bonus questions.
Yeah, yeah. Extra questions.
Extra questions, as there normally is, so let's crack on.
So we've got David playing, we've got Scotty playing and we've got Chad playing. Question #1 which car company
used the slogan in one in one of their ad campaigns?
Buy a lemon. David.
David. Volkswagen.
Volkswagen would be correct, David, They did.
They had. A brilliant, brilliant
advertising campaign all through the 60s and 70s.
They did. Bonus question, What Car was it
for? David.
David it. Was the beetle?
It was the Beetle that is also very correct.
Well done. Cool question #2.
According to the R35 GTR's chief engineer, he confirmed most people who helped develop the transmission and suspension for the R35 were from what other Japanese company?
Car company. The cool question.
David, I'll take a guess, was it Jack code?
Not Jack code David. So is what the gearbox and the
suspension? Yeah, suspension tuning and the
transmission. So, another Japanese automotive
manufacturer. Chad, I'll just I'll say Honda
for the suspension, but I'm not sure about the other part.
Incorrect. It's not Honda.
That car's coming out as we know the the Skyline.
What do you say it's? Called.
The Civic JDR. Yeah, the evolution type R that
car is coming. But yeah, Scotty, any idea?
Gonna go Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi is incorrect.
David, have you had a guess? You have have any?
Yeah, the answer was Isuzu Trucks.
Really. Yeah.
So it's. Bizarre.
Then it's crazy, bizarre, and according to the chief, evident none of them had ever worked on on a suspension tune for a sports car or internal. So that was the first kind of
one that they did, which is, which is hilarious.
I'm surprised it doesn't have loose springs in the back.
Correct. Yeah.
Online D Max. GTR that they should put Agti
that you know they're they're it's blood.
It's it's it's the same company sticking with Nissan.
An R32 GTL was recently stolen. How was it found?
No, I didn't know one was stolen.
This. Is this made big news all over
the world? Was it in Australia or?
I believe it was in the Uki believe, I believe I believe or or what what did what did people use to help find this guy?
Scott, I'm. Going to say Google Earth.
Google Earth is incorrect. You're on the you're on the
right track. This one either.
I like that. That was a good answer.
David, Chad. David got in there first.
Go on. David Close, Circuit Television,
CCTV. Incorrect, Chad.
Was it like posted on Instagram or something?
I'll pay that social media. Social media output is it?
I can see someone stealing a JDR doing that.
That's old news. We we got day to day city back
with social media last. It is.
Really. Yeah.
You see, the turbo got pinched from outside his house.
He thought he was going mad. He walked to the shops because
he thought he must have lifted at the shops and all sorts of things. But it was it was found through
spotted, Yeah. So far.
Question #4 The Takahashi brothers were part of what racing team in initial day? What are they called I.
Don't even know. Scott.
Scott. Project D.
Yeah, they were in the end. I'll pay that.
Yeah, I'll pay that. Scotty.
I'll give you another point, if you can name the team that they came from originally. Can I go again?
You can go again. Yeah.
Red Suns. Red Suns is correct score check.
You took the bonus question, Scottish.
That's. So David on two, Scotty on 2,
Chad on one. Still anybody's game.
Anybody's game? Bonus question or sorry, bonus
bonus question, I should say. What Car did they drive?
Scott. Scott.
It was a yellow FD RX7. Yep, and a white FC RX7.
Very good, that is half a point each question #5 Sticking with Mazda RX sevens, Grandma has recently given up her FDRX 7 to who? Dave.
Chad David got in there. The Mazda Motor Corporation.
That is correct. Why did she do that?
She did that because she was not of driving age anymore and she wanted it, I believe, to go to a good place.
That's right. And I think it has.
I'm guessing, I'm hoping that she didn't have a son or a or a grandson or who was interested in.
Cars. Possibly not.
Yeah, that. Could have been an awkward
Christmas celebration, I would have thought.
Mom, you promised me I'm beginning this cola the the the RX7. Sorry, I've seen how you drive
cars. You're not getting it.
There's great footage of her driving in that video.
It was great. She's dropping a mate with her
driving gloves on. It was super cute.
I love that. It was great.
I'm I'm just picturing my mom with the type of I'll be like, so mom, you know, is it my family alien?
She's like, no, I'm giving it back to Honda I.
Just give it. Back you should go into the ¥100
shop in Japan and buy some white driving gloves.
I should love it. Question number six, Haval,
which we which we all love, you know, they're they're they're they're they're a great company. Has as a company began in which
year? Oh, I'll give, I'll give closest
to Yeah, I'll do that. I'll do that.
As a company. I'm guessing they didn't make
cars before as in like they started off not making cars something. Some possibly I, I don't know.
Actually, Scott. Scott.
Say in 1992. 92, says Scotty. Yeah, write that down 92.
David, I'll go 851985. 85, says Scotty.
It says David. Sorry.
I'll do 1992. So Scotty's chosen 92.
So do you. Want to go?
Oh sorry, I'll get 9090. 90 nice as Chad scotty's closer it was
2013 they began as a. Company.
I'm closer. Nowhere near started.
Oh my God, it. Explains a lot, doesn't.
It it does, it does. They are, they're a quite,
they're quite a new company. They have, they have have a
mark, they're a spin off of the Chinese.
They're they're a subsidiary of GWM who who are the GWM specialised company that do crossovers and SUVs.
So yeah, that is, that is their, that is when they started.
So this, can I just just butt in?
Absolutely. There's a new.
Have all been released. I can't I I don't know the
codes. It's a smaller SUV.
It is the most undertired card that's been released in decades I reckon. Which one?
As I said, I can't tell you which one.
It's a smaller SUV thing. Has it got the jolion it?
Might be the new Jolion has it. Got is the back end sloped?
Yeah, Yep, Yep, is. Is the H6GT.
The H6 no. No, it's not the H6GT.
No, no, it's it's brand new. It's only been released in the
last couple of months. OK.
And yeah, the tyres are not right on it.
It that the the stance is appalling.
It looks like a shopping trolley.
Not surprised, David, but yeah. Can I just say I know probably
unpopular opinion but I think the H6GT is a very good looking car. You're right.
As far as SUVs go, it actually does have good design.
It's a good looking car. It's not a bad looking car.
I've seen more of them D badge than I have any other car in a long time. So my, my good friend George
has, has recently bought 1 and he bought it off the lady with just, you know, like she's the person it was, it was a car, wasn't even a year old and she's going to, she wanted to buy an electric car, So she bought this as an interim car.
She debudged it and it actually looks pretty good.
You know, it's a good, it's a good looking car, I think.
And for what you get, you know, Haval, if you're listening, you know, hit us up. We're, we're, we're always,
we're always, always, always about to, to drive them.
I'm just trying to think which which model you're talking about David though, because like I'm. I think it is.
I think it's the updated job Jolly on.
OK, that probably wouldn't surprise me then.
But they've done something with the the wheel.
They they look like they're they're a couple of sizes too small and they're definitely not.
They don't feel the wheel arches.
They look ridiculous. And I thought it was just a one
off maybe that's had other wheels fitted to it.
But no, it's all of them. And they've all got the new 2,
you know, the new Victorian number plates starting with two.
So I mean, that's how new they are.
You know they're but I've seen a number of them on the road and you next time you following one have a look and see we'll see what I mean. Sorry, I digress.
I. Also want to add the new H6GT
Haval, if you're listening, you know, we, we, we want a sponsorship, you know, the, the new one that's coming with the hybrid system's got 350 kilowatts, I believe of power, which is not not slow. So you know, Haval, you know,
we're we're always listening. Question 7A car that was
mentioned on the show earlier, the whole new Camira.
What's the production from what years?
I'll give you .5 for each year. David.
David in. 1982. That is .5 David.
And it went through to trying to think 85 GE.
No, it was no 1989. That is other .5 David, well
done. I print that one in.
Yeah, you did. I'm not going to deny that.
Question. Question #8 the painter on a
Toyota century when being made, how you know you painted?
How many layers on it? I'm just watching something
about this actually. So that includes the clear and
everything. Just just just just putting that
in there that that's. I paste that everything.
The full load. Yeah, yeah, 4 Scott.
Scott. 8. 8 is incorrect. Damn.
It I'm just going to say 10. 10 is incorrect, Chad.
No, it's only, I guess I'll say 15. 15 is incorrect, Scott.
You gonna kick yourself? It was 777 layers of paint and
it's there. I was watching, I was actually
watching a documentary. This is So what my life has
become of watching cars getting built.
And I was I was watching the, you know, the process of of the the V12 century. There's a little documentary,
you know, really, really terrible kind of camcorder esque quality potato cameras. But it was really good to see.
The craftsmanship on those cars is unfreaking believable.
So did you also did it also? I wonder if it's the same one I
saw where it's the front bars hand polished.
Hand polished. Yeah, there's this guy working
on for hours. I'm like, oh.
Hours and hours to get the bright shine on it.
Wow, I'm it made me like I've always liked them, but now I kind of want to buy 1. So I think that's my next car
said to be a century. That's very awesome.
So I'm gonna have to bring one back with me in a suitcase if if my wife doesn't divorce me. Question #9 Yoga.
Do you guys remember yoga the the Yoga the Yoga company?
They had an ad campaign with a bus out of control.
What movie was it based on Scott?
Speed. Speed is absolutely correct.
Scotty question #10 Actually no. I want to add AI want to add a
bonus question to that. One of the characters in that
always has his car destroyed. Oh, he does too, Scott.
Scott. Scott.
I assume is it? Who's he on the phone to?
Yeah, he's the other phone. I had to get back to you, Barry.
That's correct. Yeah, that's that is correct.
It just came back to me, then smashes.
Oh, we're going to get back to you, Barry.
That's it. Do you remember those ads,
Chatter David? They were they were great ads.
They. Were somewhat.
They were brilliant ads. I just saw it.
Recently, I just don't know where I saw it.
It might have been like on TV at a doctor's office or something like somewhere random. Barry, I'm going to have to get
back to you. Barry.
He's like, he's like tearing up with these guys.
He's like sports car question #10 The Mitsubishi 3000GT was how much in 1993 back then, how much was it?
In Australia, because they. In Australia, correct.
In Australia, what were they after in in dollar dues guys, I'll give I'll give closest to. OK, I'll, I'll.
Have a guess? I'm going to say $79,990.00.
79,990. I think that's a pretty darn
good guess. I was looking around that too.
I'm going to go 72. 72 K Chad. Kind of was.
Take a risk, Chad. Take Take a risk.
Take a Risk 80. 4/9/90. 84990 You're all wrong.
It was 102,000. That was so much money.
Back in 1993, which equivalates to about 220 grand in today's money. You couldn't pay me to buy that
car without. Money.
The 32 GDR was around about that too.
It was, yeah. It was about I think 32 was
around like 120K or something back in the day.
Like there were, there were. A lot of money was delivered
vision on it. Yeah, Not long after the 1st
3000GT land landed in Australia, there was footage one night of a of an accident at a level crossing and a car had pushed, run into the back of a car, which then ran into the back of another car and pushed it under the train.
Like, I don't, I don't think it was a yeah, you know, it wasn't I I can't even remember if it was a paddle, but I don't think it was. But it was just that it was like
a nose to tail and the middle car, you know, pushed the other car and then the front got caught under the train as it went past the middle car. 3000GT wasn't How happy would you have
been? You know, like the car, it was
like no one would have recognised the car.
The car was oh, if that. And yeah, it was the middle car
in this sandwich. Imagine your Imagine your
insurance call Barry. Barry.
Yeah, I can't remember clear as a bell because it's stuck out like an absolute, like the proverbial.
Yes, well, Chad gets that last point at 84990, so score check, Chad 2 David on a grand total of 1234 and Scotty's tonight's winner on six. Well done.
Scotty, Scotty, well done. Hold on, Scotty.
Scotty, I ask everyone this question and I'll be asking you again. Is there anyone you want to like
to thank? Yeah, myself.
Thank you. They're very good.
I did well. You did all the jobs.
You did very well mate. I think that's a podcast gents.
Good stuff. Happy New Year.
Happy. Missed you all.
Missed you guys a lot. I want to try possibly see if I
can do one if I have time when I'm in Japan, but if not I'll be back in two weeks. You can't do it.
Don't stress like enjoy yourself.
Yeah. I know I need.
To would love a live stream from like Fuji or yeah.
Are you on Fuji? Fuji Motor Speedway, Yeah.
Love us live streaming photos and driving, Yeah?
Yes, photos are required. So, so we're getting like an
MBX, like it's a Yaris powered something Lexus as a driving car when we get to Fuji, because Steph's getting a massage there.
And as part of the massage package, you can choose to drive their car for for, you know, like a few hours.
I'm gonna say that's one of the most bizarre.
Packages kind of weird. Things I've ever heard of in my
life. It honestly sounds like they
built it for a couple and the guy gets to drive the car and the woman gets the massage. It's honestly.
It might be the other way around, you never know.
Well, sorry, I I I presumed. Chad, it's it's 2024.
Chad, come on, mate. Yeah, I'm sorry.
Sorry, Steph. No, so I said Steph's like, oh,
if I get it, It was the funniest conversation because we're we're on our laptop like researching. She's like, she starts loving.
She's like, so if part of my package, if I get a massage, I can tick the box of driving one of their Lexuses for the day.
Like like done, you're doing it. So, so we're doing that and I'm
also going to do a truck experience in a but I haven't chosen the car yet. So, so it's either going to be
an Anani Supra, which is an auto or a GR Yaris and I haven't chosen which car yet. I'd I'd like your professional
opinion, gentlemen. I'll go with whatever you guys
possibly say there's. There's there's only one one to
choose. The the GR do.
You want to do you want the BMW in Japan now?
No, no, of course no. Well, I I would say, yeah,
that's. What?
I was gonna ask What? What was that, David?
Sorry I I I said it's the Yaris manual.
Yeah, the Yaris is a manual, but the super's in order you.
Gotta go, Yaris. I think so too.
Yeah. This is the Marizo edition.
I. I think it might be because I
remember I was looking at it at myself.
Wait, there's a Marizo edition Yaris as well?
Or is it just a? There's a GI Corolla version.
There's a GI Corolla of Moritzer.
And I told you, yeah. I have that one as well.
Right. Hang on, let me just, I'm gonna
find it for you. Steph's got it all saved on all
her. The website's pretty annoying to
flick through. Yeah, it is.
But I'll find it for you guys and I'll let you know.
I'll send you the I'll send you the list.
But yeah, I think, I think I'll be definitely.
I'd like to show you something manual I think would would be cool, but like I've never driven a Supra, so you know, that was I've never driven a RSGR for that matter either.
So but yeah, we will see how we go.
So yeah, gentlemen, always lovely to see your lovely faces.
Oh, I'm happy, happy to be going to to the land of the rising sun. Hopefully we can all do a trip
together one day, gents. Yeah.
That would be amazing. That would be amazing in anyway.

So if you're listening to this episode, it's already happened.
It's the Part 2 of our Magnus series.
So you'll, you'll, you'll be interested to see what that what's coming for there. Very Scooty Doe golf tip of the
week golf tip of the first golf tip of the year, I should say.
You know, since the new year, I've played golf twice.
Oh, OK. Five days.
Still up Ireland and then just Melton yesterday early morning.
It's tough one. It wasn't playing the best.
So what I would say is what while you're playing through each hole in that and you keep repeating and doing something wrong. Like for me it kept hitting it
out to the right and it was driving me nuts.
Just go back to your swing, take a look, see what it is that you're doing wrong that you normally I guess would do.
Obviously you've because I haven't played for a while.
So there's something that I've done that was changing and it was actually my grip. I was gripping it that little
bit wrong and then when I was coming down my hands should have been more inwards, but it was more outwards which meant the club face was more open. When it was more open I was
hitting it wrong and it kept going out to the right all the time. So as simple as that, wise me
nuts. So yeah, look, you go out there,
have a round if that's happening, just keep playing and work it out. Don't beat yourself up about it.
You'll figure it out. Absolutely enjoy it.
Chad's delivery is delivering someone to you.
Espanol. Actually, I'm pivoting my
business model to chasing down people for insurance money.
Yes. I'll also, I'll also do
deliveries, but also if you have insurance issues, come see me, we'll go sort them out. So it's one. 100% here, right,
by the way. It's called Chad's muscle if you
need anyone to Yeah. Or Chad's stand over men.
Absolutely. He wants to do those roles.
He's Chad Staunches. I might have to hire you to help
me out with the fence. Yeah, let's do it.
Yeah. I don't care what it is.
It could be. They're gonna pay half for the
fence and not easy. That's done.
We'll get it done. It's funny.
Chad. Chad Will Rock up first with a
box of chocolates. Hi.
How you going? My name's Chad.
Yeah. Look, I'm giving this box of
chocolates as a peace offering first, you know, And there's a word of warning I don't make. You know I fix your.
Fence. I don't do.
Second trips I don't. Love.
