air ride suspension

Too Afraid to Ask

Think of a car’s springs as big inflatable balloons that keep the car from bouncing too much. They’re nice because you can change how stiff or soft the ride feels, but they have more parts that can break than normal metal springs.

Technical Definition

An air ride suspension uses airbags or air springs instead of traditional metal coil springs to support a vehicle’s weight. The air pressure can be adjusted for ride height, comfort or load capacity, but the system relies on compressors and valves that can fail over time.
