diagnostic trouble codes
When a car’s computer notices something wrong, it gives the problem a code. These codes tell mechanics what part might need fixing.
Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are alphanumeric codes generated by a vehicle’s onboard computer when it detects a fault. They help mechanics identify which system or component is malfunctioning.
