high line

Too Afraid to Ask

On a race track, there’s an inside and an outside path through the turns. The “high line” means you’re driving closer to the outside, and it can help or hurt depending on momentum and where the other car is.

Technical Definition

The “high line” is the racing line closer to the outside of the track. On short tracks, running high can change your entry speed and exit momentum, which affects whether you can pass the car below you or get passed on the inside.
