long block
A long block is basically a big engine that’s already put together except for the top part. It makes it easier to replace or upgrade an engine because you don’t have to build it from scratch.
A long block is a pre-assembled engine that includes the crankshaft, pistons, and cylinder heads but not the head gasket or valve train. It’s sold as a ready-to-install unit for rebuilding or upgrading engines.
