silly season
“Silly season” is NASCAR’s nickname for the time when drivers and teams are making contract moves. People spend a lot of time guessing who will end up in which car.
In NASCAR, “silly season” refers to the period when driver contracts, team alliances, and car-number assignments are in flux. It’s when fans and teams speculate about who will move where, often based on contract status and performance.
