Ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to the Martini Works podcast.
This week, it is pretty busy.
In case you guys and gals are wondering, there's a bunch of cars in front of us, none of which
I think are completely finished.
We got to get them onto a brand new wedge trailer that we bought to go to Riverside.
In like four hours.
In like eight.
We got all the time in the world.
So welcome back.
We're so happy you're here.
And of course, if you're looking for car parts, don't forget to mod your car with your friends
at martiniworks.com.
You can actually save 2% when you check out with catapult right now up to $70, which is
just our way of giving back to you so that you can make the build happen.
Just get a little bit more money back in the old pocket book.
Plus we got D2 coilovers and airstrucks on the website now, which is pretty cool.
So continuing to add the stuff that you guys and gals are messaging us about, which means
the absolute world.
So thank you so much for the support.
If you need anything, you can just shoot us a message on the chat bot.
And of course, Chris or Hammy will be the ones to actually help you out and take care
of you.
So with that being said, Dakota, where do you want to start off today's podcast?
We got so much snow that St. Nicholas himself said, what the fuck?
Yeah, I heard it.
24 inches overnight, right?
24 inches, 24 hours.
It's like 36 inches, I think was the total in like the 48 hours.
Yeah.
Yeah, it was a 48 hours.
I snowplowed six times.
Yeah, I did four times, but my neighbors did twice.
They helped me out twice.
Oh, that's so nice of them.
My snowblower stopped working because there was so much snow, I couldn't do it, so I had
to shovel.
I got done with my driveway last night in case you guys and gals are wondering.
We had the snowstorm itself, but then we had a blizzard after that because the amount of
wind that came after the snowstorm itself then pretty much moved all the snow everywhere
it wasn't supposed to be.
We plowed everything and then just more snow built up over these like five foot snowpiles.
But last night I got done, it took me probably an hour and a half, an hour I would say to
clear off the driveway because obviously the snowplows came through and put like two and
a half feet of just sheer ice at the end of the driveway.
Got that all taken care of.
I'm about to put my stuff in, right?
And I plowed the sidewalk for both myself and my neighbors because that's just what
you do.
It's just the thing you do.
And I'm about to put it in and my neighbor across the street garage door opens up and
they haven't plowed in the last 24 hours.
Oh God.
It's crazy.
And here's this guy, the name's Nate, just looks out and he's like, you can just tell
him that he's like, fuck, I don't want to do this.
And I'm got my snow, I'm already like out there and I'm looking at him like, I should
help.
So then I went over and we spent another hour, hour and a half on unicefying his driveway,
which was, which was a ton of work.
So I feel like I got my, my, my exercise in today, I, when I came in, I forgot my laptop
and everything one of those days, Mondays, Tuesdays, you know what it'd be.
And so I had to run back home.
This is after the blizzard.
Everything is settled now.
Everything's calm this morning, but the roads are still kind of shitty.
I got back to my house to go grab my laptop.
I could not even pull in my driveway with my forerunner because the fucking plow went
by and I have Mount Everest in front of my driveway now again, again.
So more snow, snows just the gift that keeps on giving in March.
It's insane.
It is insane.
The only other time we had it worse is I think it was not worse, but it was bad.
Two years ago, I want to say every year that I've gone to Riverside, it has been
like this the day or week of.
Yeah, yeah, two years ago, you guys left in the snowstorm.
We did.
We left and we had some snow or we left before you guys because we had the trailers
and stuff. We hit tornadoes on the way down.
Literally like tornadoes, like five miles from us on the ground confirmed.
We had to pull off and a truck stop and like take shelter.
You guys left like that night and got absolutely pummeled with snow.
The next year, it was last year, Dakota, me and you and Brent left in the middle
of a snowstorm with the BMW and was just psychotic.
And now this year, I love Riverside.
Riverside is one of my favorite events to go to.
And to be honest, this year we're only doing the events that we really vibe with,
that we feel like align with martini works, like culture, I guess, of community
first attitudes, Riverside is one of those events.
But son of a bitch, Mason, move that event further into April for the love of God, man.
The the march is killing us up here.
The 10 people that come from Wisconsin.
Well, two years, two years ago, we got a snowstorm, like Gels said.
But the worst part was is we went to Green Bay to pick up back as M4
because we had just repainted the front sides and rear.
And it was $6,000.
Oh, my God.
Because it was Austin Yellow.
It was a bunch of repair work, like we wanted it pretty.
And then we went to go pick it up.
It was on Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss.
Nice. And it was snowing.
And it was snowing.
Well, it ended up being 18 inches.
And then Becca wanted to drive it back.
And so Becca drove it back from Green Bay to Appleton, 36 miles.
It took two two hours and 15 minutes to get it from Green Bay to Appleton.
And it would have taken us less.
But when we pulled out of the auto collision center,
rays that you can take, you can go over the bridge,
which will take you through the back way and essentially through like Kakaon
and all of that stuff and then back up through here.
Don't want to go that way, especially during a snowstorm, right?
Your chances are best on the highway, to be honest.
Because it gets cleared first.
We missed the turn to go on to the highway
and the car couldn't turn around because it was going to get stuck.
So we were forced to only go forward and find our way home
by only going and drive forward, but making no turns.
So that was a that was a pretty rough ride.
We ended up switching to Michelin Pilot all season fours
when we got home to make the drive down.
And then we put the PS4Ss, I think, in it was Dale's car at the time.
He had a GR Corolla.
We drove we left at like nine o'clock that night
to take the 12 hour drive down there.
And then on the way through Oshkosh,
construction, like one of the big round construction cones,
you know, like the big fatties was rolling around on the highway.
I just missed it by like two inches in Becca's car.
And then it smoked Dale's Corolla.
GR Corolla, it was brand new.
He had like a hundred miles on it.
So don't live in Wisconsin.
I think if if there is a way to live in Wisconsin,
only live in it from like April to October, become a snowbird.
I put May. May, May, April still sketch.
May, May's a good May's a good date.
I did send a picture to the to the team yesterday politely
saying, can we move yet in hopes that we can move?
Martini, because I specifically remember my first season opener
that used to be in April that I helped remember that parking cars in an actual blizzard.
Still hosted it, baby hosted it.
That was crazy. Still hosted it.
But yeah, no, we're excited.
We get to show off the S15, which is all done to that now.
Well, we we've done a lot.
And also, it doesn't look like we've done anything.
Yeah, it's it's really honestly,
majority has been just updating things and like cleaning it up.
Yeah. So like the body kit, for instance,
got a lot of damage during shipping and from it being like so low and stuff like that.
There was just like somewhere like through the side skirts.
So like it needed a lot of fiberglass repair on the body kit.
Obviously needed to be repainted.
There were some other spots that needed to be touched up.
The wheels were all curb rashed somehow.
So we had to get those.
Not only that, but like even in the lips, they were like.
Pitted. Pitted, yeah.
Yes, they were raw.
If I tried cleaning them first, yes, I don't know if that was just from like
like transfer or transport or something, whatever it was.
Yes, we got those all cleaned up.
They look brand new, which is incredible.
New suspension bits.
New sway bar, new sway bars, just like I said,
just cleaning it up to make it nice.
Yeah. So I think that we kind of talk about it in some of our pillar videos,
which if you guys are subscribed to the main channel, you'll hear some of this.
But like we wanted to make the S 15 have intention over just doing a bunch
of like stuffs to make it look good.
So we did the window tint because I think it helps.
You know, we cleaned up the body kit, of course.
But, you know, like the suspension that came out of it, it was old, you know,
and the struts, if not blown out, we're leaking pretty bad.
So we replaced that.
We've got some some coilovers in there now, some new ones.
So that'll feel nice.
We switched out, got a stiffer rear sway bar.
We're going to get a stiffer front sway bar as well.
So that's good.
The turbo inlet and downpipe are just to help the car breathe a little bit.
And then I got rid of the dildo shift knob and we put the.
Yeah, I'm going to put the gritty nice.
We literally have the same shift knob in all three cars.
Let's go to the shift knob.
I just didn't just didn't didn't want to guess.
Didn't want to didn't want to, you know, take a chance.
So the R 34 has got a gritty shift knob.
The S 15 has a gritty shift knob and the Datsun has a gritty shift knob.
So yeah, so you guys should be able to see it.
If you're if you're going to be at Riverside, come over, check it out.
You'll also get to see the Datsun because if you didn't, if you didn't make it
to the Sunday show for Slam or not, you never saw the car.
But that'll be at the booth as well.
So we'll have that all finished up.
That's had a lot of work done to actually go and crazy and get in the seats mounted.
Again, stuff nobody will see or really care about, but has taken a substantial amount of time.
Yeah, we cut the rails.
We cut the bottom side of the the the whole seat set up.
It's like the whole floor section out dry ice.
Yeah, to put seats.
None of that wet ice, just dry ice.
We did that.
Jackson did a fantastic job on the welds, some new mounts and everything.
So the car, the seats, the problem is the big problem with racing seats is people always
get the harness angle wrong and it can cause some marining in your back.
If you get into an accident, it's really messes you up.
So we had a terrible angle with the harnesses because when driver built the
actual rear rear like loop or hoop, I don't think they ever took into account
where the actual seat was going to sit because it didn't have seats in it.
Correct.
They should have they should have put the hoop, you know, six to eight inches
higher than what they did to actually make it functional.
So we had to we couldn't obviously cut out the the the roll bar.
So we changed it.
We lowered the seats.
We brought the the seats forward, which kind of needed to be done, too,
because you were sitting really high.
Yeah, my my top of my hair was hitting the headliner.
There's no space for a helmet.
So now it's forward, it's down.
We wanted to be at about 20 degrees for a racing harness for safety.
Right now it's at like 22, 23.
So we couldn't work yet.
Yeah, but we couldn't we couldn't get it any lower without sacrificing
my my knees being into my chest, essentially, because you can go forward
and you can go down to reduce, you know, that.
But we got I mean, I think when we first put the seats in, it was at like 47 degrees.
So it was it was not good.
And anybody that knows racing harnesses would have would have called that out,
should have called that out.
So got that fixed.
Nice.
And I just need a battery. Another one.
Yeah, lots of batteries.
Always batteries. Always, always batteries.
What's new with you guys?
Gels, can we bully you with your S13?
You can.
It's nothing.
They ain't going to change nothing.
Because now there's 36 inches of snow in front of us.
36 star snow in front of the grass store.
And yeah, no, I haven't done anything.
And that's on me.
We did buy a front sway bar for the S15.
We got it mocked up.
Son of a bitch.
Not for an S15.
Not for an S15.
You want to know what it is for, though?
Every other S chassis in the world.
An S13, which means we got Gels his first car part.
Dakota, what's new with you?
How is the the forerunner, Ben, in the 36 to 48 to 60 inches of snow?
Is it everything you've wanted?
Yeah, I was fucking sick on the ride to work.
I like turned on the road.
I'm like, Oh my God, these are like not plowed like the side streets and stuff.
So I'm just driving.
I just slammer and fucking high for it immediately just grips up.
And I'm like, I was like tested.
I wanted to see it's four wheel drives fucking nice when you need it.
But yeah, I'm enjoying it.
And then I have a bunch of little stuff I'm doing on the way.
I'm transferring over all the lighting and making that LED lighting from
like the hatch lights to the dome lights to the door lights.
So I have some kits for that that I'm doing.
And then just some some different odds and ends that I'll be doing with that.
I got to I actually have a set of rays or a lug nuts I need to put on
because they cost me a lot of money and I haven't put them on yet.
The other ones were the wrong thread pitch, right?
Yeah, is that what ended up happening?
Yeah, we almost made that mistake putting the adapters on the S15.
Yeah, the spaces for our drift set for some reason are different thread pitch
are different thread pitch.
Yeah, we almost made it.
You got to watch out for that.
Make sure when because people think because it will go on like the first couple
turns, you'll be like, oh, it's just a little zap them.
And then you just completely fuck it.
And I did that.
Well, because I did the research and made sure it was the right thread
bridge. And when I ordered them, I was just sent a different set than what I ordered.
Sometimes sometimes that happens.
That happens.
So I put them on and it was exactly what you said.
I could like kind of start threading them with my fingers, but it was like, oh,
they're kind of you get a second thread and I did the old impact on them.
Yeah, the good news is those will give before your studs.
Yeah.
So I just choose to just rethread the shit out of one.
You're just retapping the that was not right.
So I backed it off and I looked at the packaging realized it was a decimal point off.
And but now I have the right ones and they're forged.
So it's super lightweight.
And it's going to see tons of weight savings.
Yeah, yeah.
And those are going up.
Yeah.
Yeah, how much do those tires weigh again?
Tires?
Yeah, tires.
Fucking more than I want to lift.
We did we did the same thing for the S 15 going to Riverside.
We changed out the lugs again, just like some some quality of life stuff.
So we put work lugs on it now so that it matches the car.
We actually have our own valve stem caps now, too.
Those look really good on there.
I like the little red put it on.
Yeah, yeah.
So it matches the car.
So if you guys are interested, you want to pick up something small,
maybe you don't need a big car part, but you just want to support.
The valve stem caps are 15 bucks on the website.
Again, they're different colors
and they have the whole Martin works logo on them.
They look sick.
They're anodized, they're light, they're cool.
I think they're kind of neat.
But yeah, through those on.
So that was really cool.
Tighten up the fitment a little.
It could go lower for sure.
It's going to go lower.
It's to go lower.
You guys all say that, but we just spent $1,500 repairing that body kit.
And I will, I will kill the first person to crack the front.
But we're like, oh, well, it's a drift car.
So that's just how it's.
No, none of it matters if it has shit fitment.
Valid.
This thing would look so good.
Just absolutely dumped as low as you can get it off.
We don't even know how low it can go yet
because we don't know the like the movement of the wheel yet.
Like we haven't even driven the car
because it's those wheels were those wheels were on the car when we got it.
And it was really low in the photos.
Perfect. So it's got to go lower.
OK, I'll tell you what.
Bump it. When we get to Riverside.
I think, yeah, that'll be something we might have to do when we're there.
I don't want to lower it, getting it onto a brand new wedge trailer.
Yeah, but it's easy.
We can we can tear off the wheels nice and safely
and then we'll lower it and it'll be ready to rock and roll.
It'll look so good once it's lowered.
It'll change it completely.
We also got the headlights refinished.
So I learned how to do that.
That was one where its eyes went this morning.
Do it to the GTT, too.
Yeah, we ran out of time.
They're bad. They are.
We got to we got to figure out how to fix that.
He polished them at one point, but they need to be cleared.
Yeah, it's crazy how quick that comes back.
God, I hate foggy headlights.
Now you gave me something else
that I think we need to do before Friday. Great job, team.
Sorry, but it is important.
It's crazy how that little stuff really changes how the car looks.
You know, if you have clean crystal headlights, it just helps the whole.
But it's like if you go to a car show and your windshield's all dirty
and your side windows are dirty or you see water streaks,
dude, that can throw off the vibe completely.
You got to the small stuff.
Yeah, make sure it's mint.
Otherwise, it just throws everything out like ride height.
You know what I'm saying? Listen.
All right, listen here, bucko.
You don't even have a car running right now.
You sit down. All right.
I'm trying to get this car ready.
I'm getting this car ready to get on the lift
or to get on the wedge trailer.
That's my excuse.
Yeah, new trailer.
Yeah, I didn't know that you could do this,
but you can just buy big ass wedge trailers.
I didn't know that was a thing either.
We bought one. It's massive.
500 feet long.
It's taking up like 18 parking spots outside right now.
Yeah, we're going to get kicked out of here.
No, we're fine.
What I what I really want to do, though, is when, not if,
but when the C 4500 is fixed, how I want to get the safe, isn't it?
We got more to talk about.
OK, that's what I say.
Bro, what else could there possibly be?
I want to hold that thing was fixed three times last week.
I want to get the wedge trailer on the C 4500.
Then I want to get the S 15, the Datsun and the R 34 on it for pictures.
I'd be sick because I think it would go hard.
God, we would really became a Nissan household all the Chevy update.
Yeah, what's going on?
We're supposed to take that tomorrow.
What do you mean?
I thought we were driving that tomorrow.
No, no, no, there's a new truck outside.
You guys didn't see it? I didn't. I don't know.
I didn't see anything this morning.
I don't even know you're driving here. There's a same, though.
Dakota came in at like 7.15 this morning and I swear to God,
I don't think his I think it was just motor function that got him here.
Yeah, let the record show.
I was here at 6.50 waiting for your ass to show up at 7.15.
Got him. Yeah.
Well, what ended up happening is I went to go turn on the roundabout
and then there was a car blocking the roundabout
because they somehow got sideways.
It's there was I see a Jeep Wrangler all the way in the ditch
and it was buried up to the hood.
I was like, oh, yeah.
So then he was sideways, right?
Blocking traffic.
And then the question was, is do I get out and help him? Right.
And then I had to figure out what could I even do to help
because I didn't have anything with me.
And then there's like three other people that were trying.
But he straight up blocked the whole thing.
So there's traffic all the way back towards Alhadi, Peo and this that
just flipped them off and drove away.
So I just took a lefty, then I went back up the road
and then I jumped on the road over here and came back around
and turned right. Yeah. Anyway, what's wrong with the Chevy?
I'm so tired of this truck.
Yeah, I know.
Don't listen to your wives when they tell you they want
an unreliable big truck.
Don't listen to them. It's a bad idea.
We the secondary like mean fuse on it
randomly blew when Dustin was test driving it on Saturday night.
OK, which is a problem.
Yeah.
Then the previous weekend, we noticed that the rear brake caliper was
was was hanging.
It was like it was it was applying pressure to the rotor.
So we had to get new rotors.
And then finally, I looked at Dustin because it still needed to work on Monday.
And I looked at him and I go, guys, I love you.
I appreciate all the work.
I don't trust myself.
To be driving what would be accumulative almost 20,000 pounds
of metal with a truck that we have not been able to successfully drive
more than 45 miles without something.
I, you know, I'm glad I'm glad you said it,
you know, because I think we were all thinking it. Yes.
But you had the confidence that I didn't want to kill the vibe.
No, no, vibe was killed. I just can't.
I don't want. I don't.
I'm not. This is going to sound bad.
I don't want to accidentally like murder someone because I wanted to take a risk.
And then the brakes fail in Kentucky or something like that.
You know what I mean?
So I'm like, no, we need a different plan.
So Dustin has many friends in many places of the world.
We found another truck that we can take down there.
The guy's been super, super, super helpful for us.
And we are going to get the C4500 back on the road.
Everything's going to be great. No problems.
However, I would like to see it driving.
I set the baseline 500 miles, no issues.
OK, we need 500 miles of no issues.
Forty seven is the record.
Less than that is about the record right now.
And once we do that, we can haul with it.
Here, five miles. It's it's good.
No problems. Post it for sale and sell it.
I like that idea, actually.
So Beck and I were talking the other day.
One, because if you guys don't know,
Beck and I are starting our our IVF journey
to to have a family to have children,
which is a long process.
But it has opened the door to research fun, cool vehicles
because I ain't I ain't buying no goddamn van.
So I was talking to back up.
No, no, some fans are some fans, not the fans we want.
OK, what is this?
Is this our headlight?
They're just talking about this, actually.
Oh, it's crystal clear.
Now we need the GTT.
John, quick, quick.
Oh, you'll get anything done.
This looks good.
Johnny taught me how to do this.
This looks way better because they looked like the GTT.
Yeah, they look like the GTT.
Yeah, Johnny taught me how to do this the right way,
which was actually really funny.
I need to go.
Bradles out of spa.
Bradles out of spa.
The best, honestly.
So I'm really excited to put these in.
So yeah, so we're back and I are obviously
we're daydreaming as as you should.
Thank you.
We're daydreaming about family cars.
Yep.
I told Beco, I was like, well, what we could do
is we could sell the C 4500.
Yes.
You know, and then we could get an F 250,
a new one, like a 2020.
And, you know, we would have enough space for the kids.
I threw it in there.
I slid it in.
The kids.
The F 250.
And she goes, we can do that.
I'm like, what do you mean?
She goes, well, didn't we spend a lot of money on the truck?
I'm like, oh, yeah.
We sell the truck.
But we sell the truck and then we don't
have the problems with the truck.
Don't continue to spend money.
So that was that is an open discussion.
We've kind of passed the content opportunity with it.
We've passed the ownership opportunity.
We've passed even like the, whoa, that's so cool thing with it.
But we'll see how it goes.
The other thing that I found, the Porsche Taycan Cross
Turismo and Panamera Cross Turismo
are now hitting their depreciation floors.
We should probably talk about that in the next segment.
Yeah.
Gels.
Hi.
Run it up, Turbo.
I tell you what, I don't want anyone
to hear anyone talk and smack about Continental Tires
ever again, because my BMW E90 on BC Race and Coilovers
got through this 36 inches of snow when it should not
have, because it was on Viking Contact 7s.
I'm not even kidding.
It was Sunday night, the snow was coming down heavy.
I'm like, we got no food in the house.
I was stupid.
We didn't go to the store ahead of time.
Oh, gosh.
We got to go.
My mom's like, you're not making it there in that car,
and I'm not going to come pull your ass out of the ditch.
I'm like, that's fine.
I'm not worried about it.
And guess what?
Didn't have to be worried about it.
I got that thing as a freaking tank on those tires,
which is why we chose to have Continental as a sponsor
of the Martini Works podcast.
You guys heard us talk about it a ton.
Honestly, it did blow me away, like getting through the amount
of stuff that I did with that car with those tires on this
weekend.
They've been absolutely incredible.
Obviously, Viking Contact 7, great for winter.
If you're looking for something more all season,
DWSO 6 Plus, if you're looking for something more track
oriented, really performance, the ECSO 2
is our tire of choice pretty much for all of that.
So we've been working with Continental for a long, long time.
Like I said, we went out and chose them as a sponsor
because we really believed in their products.
We've really got to know their tires throughout the years
and definitely trust them.
And I think for the money, they are a fantastic option
to go with for pretty much whatever you need out
of your car from winter to summer to everything in between.
So if you haven't checked out Continental tires,
please do so over at martiniworks.com.
And thank you so much for Continental
for being a sponsor of Martini Works podcast.
What were you saying about the Porsche Taycan?
Porsche Taycan Cross-Trizmo is a really cool looking station
wagon.
It's an EV, but if you don't want the EV,
you get the Porsche Panamera Cross-Trizmo,
which is a shooting brake style wagon.
Here's the great news.
I love myself a good deal.
It's like deal one, two, right?
When they came out, they're like $165,000,
$185,000.
Now you can get one 2021, 2020 even for like 67, 65.
Really?
Half off?
Half off, more than half off, a third off.
Yeah, it's running almost Mercedes depreciation.
That's crazy, why?
I feel like that doesn't happen with those cars.
Number one, I don't think the Taycan never really took off
that well.
And also the front end aged now in a way where I think
it's just not quite as good as what people thought.
Because when you look at it, I don't know what it was.
I saw a Taycan, I'm gonna say it like 10 different ways
when we talk about it, but whatever you give it a name.
It is.
When you look at the Taycan now,
you'll notice the headlights look oddly soft,
whereas when it first came out, everything about it
looks super aggressive and cool and futuristic looking.
Now it just kinda looks like, is it the Orca whale
that's got the big black spot that looks like it's the eyes?
But really the eyes are like these little tiny babies.
Yeah, it looks like that.
Like once you see it, you're like, huh,
it kinda looks like it's got a ton of eyeliner
to make it look really aggressive.
So that part is a little weird.
I think the Panamera cross-tourismo looks better.
I did, I drove a Panamera one time.
I got on Turro and so I had it for a couple of days
and I was getting on the highway.
I was down in Texas and obviously you wanna give her beans
a little bit, you're driving towards your Panamera.
So I got honored to get up to the legal speed limit.
And when I did that, every single light on the vehicle
started flashing, the check engine light came on
and it said pull over immediately.
Oh my God.
Yeah, and I thought, I just blew this fucker up.
It's over.
So I did pull over immediately, turn the car off.
I'm like, holy shit, I get out and check.
I'm like, okay, well there isn't like oil dumping out
or cooling dumping out, doesn't smell weird.
Nothing's acting weird.
So I'm like, what the fuck?
I turned the car back on, not a single light.
I'm like, okay.
Run it.
Yeah, I start easing into it, driving.
Everything was fine from there on out
but I did not floor it again
and that's my take on the Panamera.
So this one was 170,000 new.
Oh, that's sick.
Right?
So it's a Porsche Panamera across Turismo
and it's a turbo on sale, 82.
Reliable dumb things.
I didn't get that far.
Let me tell you.
No, I was gonna say, yeah, hold up.
I didn't have any issues after that and that's cool.
I'm a huge fan of wagons.
Pretty much any wagon I'm a fan of
and that's why I thought the Porsche Panamera was cool.
But yeah, I don't know.
Even the new Volvos are super sick.
Like anyone that's looking to build a car
that's like unconventional,
maybe they had a little money
and they wanna get something that'll last them a long time.
They're expensive.
They are expensive, 100%
but the new Volvo, wagon, lowered,
Vossin's, Rohana's, Ferrada's.
It's the most bitchin' setup
you could have for a daily driver.
They look so frickin' cool.
There's a dude on TikTok
that that's all he posts are like music montages
of his Volvo wagon and it gets me every time.
Look at this.
Look at this.
Oh, you pulled that up quick.
Dude.
Look at how hot that is, dude.
Oh, that looks amazing.
This thing looks insane.
It looks really good.
That's a 10 out of 10 car right there.
Such a good looking car.
So yeah.
What is that?
Do you know what that is?
T60.
I think is what it is.
T60R?
Do they make an R grade?
Oh, it's a T6
and it looks like it's a Polestar edition.
V60, yep.
V60 T6.
V60 T6.
Volvo's not great with their names.
Anyway.
Sounds like semis.
Did bring me back to a day
when I had a B7A4 Avant that I really, really liked
and that would have been 2016?
Sure.
2015?
I think that was the last time
I think I went to a car meet as well.
I don't know if I've been to car meets lately.
Yeah, I'm trying to think the last one I went to.
Like an actual like just little pop-up like meet thing?
I did go to one with back on Lars last year.
But like, are car meets dying?
I mean, no, I think they're definitely prevalence still.
I think they're just not what we use to consider car meets.
What's the difference?
I don't know, but have you seen like,
there is like that trend for a while
and this was, it goes back a couple of years,
but everyone was posting like those,
like what my local car meets like
and like that funky music and they're just shit cars.
It was like, I don't remember ever thinking
back in the day like, oh, I'm going to a car meet
and oh, it's just going to be a bunch of shit cars.
Like I was always hyped to go
and I always seen coolest shit.
I didn't know if like the mindset is different now
with car meets or...
I think people talking shit
always get more attention than like positive.
When we had the car meets at Fridays
over Riley's in Eau Claire,
there was always a couple of cool cars,
but there were equally shit boxes there all the time.
I was going to say,
I always remember there being shit boxes.
But that wasn't the point.
The point was the vibes.
You had your friends in a parking lot
and it was 35 degrees, I was cold as shit
and then you did a loop around the city
and you thought you were in Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift.
That was the point.
I think meets are lame if you don't go for a cruise.
I think you got a cruise.
I think you got a cruise.
Yeah, I think that's a great part of it.
We would always do that too.
It's like meet up, talk for a bit,
look at everyone's stuff
and then everyone like rolls out together.
And it's like...
Yeah, that's fun.
So you feel like that scene in cars.
Literally 2013, 2014, I remember.
It was the same thing.
Every Friday, 9 PM.
I'd be working on that piece of shit dots in 280Z until 8.55.
I would get it running.
We'd hop in, Beco would hop in the passenger seat.
We'd drive up, we'd go on to Claremont.
We'd head on over to the Riley's parking lot meet.
We'd get there at like 9.10, 9.15.
We'd wait, we'd hang out, we'd say hi to everyone.
We'd vibe till 10.
Cruise at 10, right?
Take a right, do a loop,
or take a left and do a loop around Eau Claire.
And then instead of going back to the parking lot,
us and the homies, we went to the best restaurant
humanly imaginable for any 23-year-old at the time.
Perkins.
Close.
That's post-drink, Applebee's.
Applebee's was top tier for that era.
That era, it was Applebee's all day long.
Half off apps?
Half off apps.
That was a different time.
Dude, it was so good.
I was talking about something that's changed.
That's a different podcast.
Applebee's are cool.
Dude, that was the best.
That was the most fun you could do on a Friday night.
I think like 30 bucks all in.
I don't know what it is.
Cause I mean, arguably like no,
I have not been to like a meat,
like an actual, just like local meat recently.
I think like the last like actual meat,
which was more of like a car show in itself
was like the last Vated one that they did for Gownberg.
You know, that was like, you know,
those are literally like thousands of cars.
That's like a show.
It's like a show in itself.
Show without being a show.
But no, I haven't been to just like a local meat
probably since like college.
Other than early burgers.
Yeah.
I feel like that's more of a meat, you know?
I suppose, like I almost obviously I'm biased
because it's ours.
Yeah. Do you call cars and coffee?
Like is that a meat?
Yeah, it is.
Yeah. In a sense.
Yeah.
Cause that's essentially what early birds is.
Yeah. It's a free to attend thing.
I just like, I kind of like early birds
cause I'm more so treated as a way to like hang out
with the boys.
But yeah, I guess technically,
but like I would host early birds
if it was just the people without the cars.
Like I just want people to see what's going on in the shop
and like run on the Sims and take our free shit
that we keep getting from vendors
so that we don't have to keep stop piling it.
Which we appreciate.
Yeah.
But it's a lot of stuff.
We do have some rugs that are chilling.
We do have-
I can't say rugs are sick though.
The shark rug, we got two of them.
We're keeping one cause it is really dope.
But we're going to bring one to Riverside.
This is ours.
We're going to give it away.
Look at this, this thing's sick.
This is fucking cool.
Yeah. Cance got great stuff.
No doubt.
Please keep sending us dope.
But like we'll get from vendors.
They will remain unnamed.
That stuff's cool.
But like we get like boomerass,
freebie stuff sometimes where it's like,
hey, would you like 700 lanyards from like 2000?
Yeah.
Not really.
Here's 50 banners.
We sent you congratulations.
We have sent you a neburi flag
because we know that's what all the kids like.
Except it's the wrong size.
Wrong material.
Yeah. It's a completely random size.
That doesn't match any of the other ones.
We did have one cause we only have a few up on our wall.
I remember we were putting one of those that we got up
and I looked at them like,
that is not even remotely close to the same size
as the rest.
Take it down immediately.
Like that would bug me all day long.
We need more neburi flags.
Yeah.
We need to get some more.
Keep her going.
How about more neburi flags and more cars?
I think we're gonna get enough cars.
Yeah. Space capped.
Are we?
Brother, I don't know if you've looked
or tried to walk or function around this shop lately,
but you want me to film videos.
Where?
I hear every video right here from now on.
Cause it's the only spot that's actually reserved.
Okay. Here's the deal.
We get another car, S2K, has to go.
Fair. That's a fair.
That's a fair.
That's a fair statement.
Yeah. Swap one out.
Yep.
The S2000 needs to get done.
I tell this to my wife with cups.
With cups.
Cause every time we go to the store,
there's a new cup out in a new color.
And it's the new brand that's trending
because Stanley was cool.
Now it's not as cool.
Now there's new brands coming out.
I'm like, fine.
Get it. Cause it is kind of cool.
But two cups got to go.
Damn. Two for one.
Otherwise, if I get a two post jack,
can I keep an extra one here?
No. No.
Why not?
It'll be up in the air.
Honestly, you just got rid of the 10 engines
that you had laying around.
That would clean up a lot more than one car going.
You don't even got rid of the S2K.
Get rid of the five K series.
I think the S2K legit has a curse to it.
And I think that needs to go.
Oh yeah. I agree.
Like it's cursed physically.
That's fair.
It's an era of like cursed vehicles.
No, no, we're good though.
We're good.
I think we broke it.
The Gloria started to change.
Yeah.
That was the stepping stone.
Well, but then the C4500.
That happens after the.
Everything, everything Nissan.
After the, like Gloria's Nissan R34, S15.
It's all Nissan.
Z.
How did we.
How did we do this?
I'm going to be honest and this is the worst part.
I think it was a, I ran into somebody when I was at.
Yeah.
I think when I was up in Canada doing the Volvo activation
and there was, I was talking to a guy and he's like,
yeah man, he's like, you're, you must be a big Nissan dude.
And I'm like, no, not really.
Like I like him, but I'm like,
I wouldn't consider myself like a Nissan guy.
And he goes, well, don't you have an R34?
I was like, yeah.
He goes, and an S15.
Yeah.
He's like, yeah.
He goes, and a Datsun.
And you had a Z.
He goes, and you had a Z.
I'm like, yeah.
He goes, he had four Nissan's, right?
I'm like, oh, well I had the Gloria too.
He goes, you've had five Nissan's.
Like, yeah, but I wouldn't consider myself a Nissan guy.
He had a Datsun back in the day too.
All right.
Fair point.
Just accidentally fell into it.
I feel like that's like.
Yeah.
But I didn't mean to.
They're all very, they're all very different though.
They're all very different though.
Just kind of realizing it.
It's kind of, I kind of sound like the BMW guys.
These two are very similar.
Those two are very similar.
You think so?
Yeah.
We haven't driven them yet though.
Right, right.
I'm just saying like,
which one do you think we're going to like more?
Do you think we're going to like the R34 more?
That's a good question.
Because of its upscale and more luxurious build quality,
because that's how they built them.
Or are we going to like the shipboxiness of the S15?
I think it really is going to come down to driving it.
You know what the thing is already, I know this.
I've been in Randy's S15 from Eliminate 2.
They just make all the right noises.
They sound better.
We've tried everything possible outside of just like putting
a giant ass turbo on this R34 to get it to sound like anything
other than a vacuum cleaner.
And it has not worked.
It still sounds good.
It's very mild.
It's so quiet.
And I'm like, this is.
To be fair, the 600 pound hood is hiding a lot of that noise.
Yes, that is awesome.
The S15 is like, isn't loud either.
But it just, it just sounds like a 90s GD engine.
Yeah, it is pretty sick.
Like I drove it back from Johnny's the other day
and I'm like, this is a different vibe.
See, I feel like I'm those.
Like, and that was just going through a parking lot.
And I'm like, this is a different vibe.
Like you kind of like you said, like the R34, the GTT,
it's got like more of like very refined like presence to it.
It's, it's, it's, you know, just got that vibe to it.
The S15 is like, we're going to go do some fuck shit.
And everyone's going to know about it.
Yeah, I think we're going to like the S15 a little bit more.
I don't know.
I think the R34 is a fantastic car, fantastic platform.
I agree.
I want like the thing that I can't wait for,
especially since we've got so much snow going on right now,
is I can't wait for the, for the Friday three o'clock
for us to be like, let's go downtown
before traffic gets down there.
And to have like the R34, the S15, the Z, the S13,
because it's going to be done.
And all of our summer cars out for a nice little cruise downtown.
And then the forerunner, of course, of course,
probably towing one of the cars and the LBZ, of course,
yeah, of course, to just like enjoy.
Oh my God.
Oh, I was like, did we fuck something up?
Were we not recording something?
It was panicking.
Hamby got me caught.
Oh, I needed it so bad.
Oh man, I'm so happy.
I was panicking.
I'm also really happy that nothing got fucked up.
I was really scared.
I was kind of scared too, to be honest.
Sorry.
It was like, when your dog like suddenly really barks
at something and it's like, should I be worried?
It's a different part.
Yeah.
You're like, thumbs up.
Yep, that wasn't normal.
I know that.
Sorry.
I'm going to try and give the S2000 a redemption arc.
No, no.
Fucking sell what hurts you.
Let's do that in 2026.
God damn it, Alex.
How can you sell the C4500 and live in heaven?
Yeah.
Enjoy life.
Enjoy cars, go drive.
This is what the sun looks like.
You don't have to be in here every night till 2 a.m.,
fucking working out with Jackson,
like get rid of the pain.
It's not cemented here.
It doesn't need to stay here.
It doesn't need a redemption arc.
Just get rid of it.
We have good cars.
We're about to pull a couple more chairs up here.
It's a circle uptime.
Yeah.
Time for an intervention.
I can't believe you just said that.
He was trying to soft launch it.
No.
I did try to.
I figured I could hit Dakota when he was at his high
with the coffee.
Maybe it would scoot high.
Dude, and that should say something
because S2000s are one of my favorite cars ever made
and it's a hard top S2000 at that,
like checks all the boxes.
Things fucking curse, get it out of here.
All right.
Well, if you're looking at buying it,
it's actually a really good car.
I wanna buy it.
If you guys are interested in buying my S2000.
So good.
For $40,000, you can have it.
Holy fuck, we're never gonna sell it at that price.
Yeah, that's insane.
I truly, truly after it is fixed up,
I do think it'll be a good car.
I truly do because.
Wide body, fully built, K24 turbo, race spec,
with suppression system, all the stuff you would need to
actually.
I forgot, it's got a lot.
I forgot you had all that.
With all, like all the underside, all the suspension bits,
all the weak points taken care of by ASM.
You know, if you wanted a spec car
that you wanted to go racing,
grid life series, you could technically run that car.
Yeah.
For $40,000.
I'll take any offer.
But that's where I'm starting.
But that's where I'm starting.
You just got to hire a witch or something like that?
How's that work to remove it first?
I will personally, I will personally bring in
a priest of your denomination.
There you go, a priest.
I'd probably be about to lose.
A priest of your denomination.
Exorcism on this.
Please perform an exorcism on that $2,000.
I'd do something like that would go fucking crazy.
When your car's been broken for two and a half years,
so you just got to make sure that it checks all the boxes.
You just got a priest, like no many positive experiences.
Spare it to something.
You know how like ships, like they like fucking throw
a bottle of champagne at it or whatever?
Yeah.
We got to figure something, like throw a fucking
bushlight at it or something.
I don't know.
Back a bushlight on.
I just thought of that.
When we do finish the car, I got to figure out some sort of
liquid to throw at it to like nozzle top, you know?
Now that's a fire.
Yeah, it's a molotov.
Close.
I remember Call of Duty.
OK.
I don't.
I moved on.
Call of Duty is dead to me.
You know it's not dead.
What?
I'm trying to think of a segue.
What's that?
Not dead.
Started that up this weekend.
That's good.
Did that need a new battery?
No.
Been charging it the whole year.
Probably.
You fuckers can't disconnect it.
I'm sorry that we have to move an entire parking lot of vehicles
anytime we want to do anything here.
And sometimes it just doesn't get reconnected.
And sorry that it dies in two hours.
Gels and I got some beef about batteries.
We got batteries.
They suck.
I've never seen.
This is like the Bermuda Triangle for batteries.
Yeah, there's like a different grab.
It's like a magnetic field or something here.
Like the said the one exploded.
How does that even happen?
Gentlemen, I do have to be honest with you.
We do have to take some accountability.
No.
The R34 still has the stock battery from when it came from Japan.
I'm proud.
I'm proud.
And is original on the car.
OK, that battery somehow living this long is a.
It's not living.
Yeah.
The jump started every fucking time we move it.
Then get a different battery.
That's not the car's fault.
That's not Bermuda.
That's us.
Well, it was working till it came here.
That was the timing.
With that being said, we're going to take a small break.
But after Dakota talks about the partner of the Martini
or podcast Dakota.
It's green like your hoodie or what are those called?
Cartigan.
Cartigan.
Fashion.
Cartigan.
Fortunato.
Fortunato 500s.
Fortunato 510s.
Listening.
They got I'm not going to name them past that.
I have 20s.
You got to spend some mule after that.
Yeah.
Some serious mule.
Honestly, Fortunato is a little bit pricier than the rest,
but that's because you're getting such damn good quality out of them.
Those are coilovers you get and unlike the batteries here,
you can keep them for years and years.
And actually you can keep them for a lifetime
because you can send them into Fortunato.
They'll have them completely rebuilt by hand.
Ship them back to you.
And by the way, you have a new set of coilovers essentially.
So that's one thing that's super cool about Fortunato.
Also, if you're ordering a set, completely customizable.
So if you want to get Swift Springs,
if you want to do different valving, anything like that,
tell them what you're doing with the car.
They can even work with you to get it dialed in perfect.
That's what we did when we worked with Fortunato
and told them what we want to do with the GTT.
And that was a laundry list of things that we wanted to do.
They're like, oh my God.
Yeah.
They're like, okay, well, we're going to do this.
And it has been perfect.
The GTT rides amazing.
Come take it for a spin.
I'll throw you the keys.
And you'll be like, damn, these coilovers are the bee's knees.
So head on over to Martino Works, filtered by Fortunato.
Take a look.
If you need help picking out a set,
you want to talk to Carissa or Hamby
and see what you're going to be doing with your car
and which Fortunato's would be best.
We'd be more than happy to help you.
So thank you to Fortunato for sponsoring Martino Works package.
All right.
Breaking news.
We got some stuff going on.
Heat just started off this way.
This one is a little bit heavier.
So I do apologize.
Hyundai is under some shit right now.
Not good.
Oh, what happened?
Oh, so Hyundai stops sales and recalls 68,500 2026 Palisade models.
Because the second and third row is having an issue
and it actually killed a two-year-old child in Ohio.
Oh, my God.
And they're aware of the issue.
And they're like, yeah, it's a problem.
So like the way it is mounted or something?
It's something I can read.
It has power folding seats in the rear,
but it doesn't have any detection of weight being on it.
So it doesn't know if someone's in it
or there's an item in it or anything.
So it can result in the power folding seats
crushing an occupant or item that happened.
Fucking terrifying.
So right now, Palisades, they're even urging the owners
to be extremely careful.
You may have to send me a slingshot and post a photo of it too,
but you guys can kind of see how the rear seats come all the way forward.
Oh, my God, yeah.
Oh, my God, dude.
It's crazy that it has strength like that.
To do that, yeah.
But yeah, so if you have a Palisade.
Careful.
Jesus, man.
Yeah, really, that fucking thing.
That is horrifying.
Can you, like, what a gap in like a quality assurance test?
Yeah.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, that is insane.
Like, that shouldn't, that's not a feature.
There's a bare minimum to check to make sure
that something like that doesn't happen.
Yeah, you'd think.
Right.
If you're making your car part transformer,
I would maybe hope that it has some sort of safety stop built in here.
Wow.
That's crazy.
And I'm sure a lot of other.
It takes the death of a child to do that.
But that's what they were, I was reading some of the comments
because I just read that too.
And it's like, other manufacturers have that.
Essentially.
It's not like a new thing.
This is going to start.
I wonder if those other auto manufacturers have some type of safety.
I would hope so.
Stop.
But it's like, I guess I don't know how it works.
If it's just like, you press one button
and it just shoves it all the way forward.
Because it's like front seats have been powered
for years and years and years and years.
And they don't have safety.
No, not that I think of it too.
Because I've noticed sometimes I'll get like,
Maggie's parents will come down.
And they have that like Murano.
And it's like, you can save the presets for the seat.
But you open the door and it moves back
to let you out, the steering wheel comes up.
Well, it was like, I got hit at one time
and it was like set for mom.
And I closed the door and started the whole thing with it.
They sit on the steering wheel.
I was like, oh, geez, geez, geez.
There is a trend where you prank people.
So people are doing it to their significant others.
They would do this preset to be as far forward
so they get in and they would start fucking.
So I don't think there is something like that on there
in that case.
That might change everything then.
Yeah, I wonder.
I have one for you.
So there's been a lot of news.
I don't know if you guys have seen this,
but there's been a ton of news about people,
the government closing loopholes on Montana plates
and suing and sending people to jail
for essentially what is tax evasion,
which is something that Whistle and Diesel,
I think has been kind of at the epicenter
of with some of his last videos and posts.
But now there's more news coming out.
The Federal Trade Commission has warned 97 auto dealership groups
about deceptive pricing.
So deceptive pricing is not, it is illegal,
but it's kind of this huge gray area
in terms of what you can actually publicize
as a price for a product
versus what you tell them over email or over the phone.
So yeah, so now they're essentially sending out these emails
that says, hey, you must show the total price of something
or we're going to find the fuck out of you.
So wait, what does that mean?
Like that has to include the taxes dealer fees?
Yeah, what are dealerships doing?
Are they listing it?
And then when you get to the door, they're saying,
I mean, that's a different price.
That was happening with the Nissan Z, for instance.
Yeah, when I did the video doing,
when I was in my own era of just getting pissed at people
because the prices that they're putting for cars was not real.
I think it was road and track, whatever, they do that VIR test
and I'm like, that's all bullshit
because these are not the prices
that people are going to buy these cars for.
And so I did, I remember I called like 31 dealers
and out of the 31 dealers for the cars
that they was listed on the test,
there were only two dealers that were the price
that were listed on their website.
29 out of 31 dealers for a different price
than what they had listed on cars.com
or whatever it might be.
So the Federal Trade Commission is sending letters
to 97 out of groups nationwide,
warning them that the prices they advertise
must be the total price, including all mandatory fees
that consumers are required to pay.
I'm surprised it's only 97.
Although you have to remember, these groups are big.
Okay, so like they own multiple dealers.
Yeah, like a group can be thousands of dealerships.
It's like a feeling like that.
Penske is huge.
I feel like you need to track down on that shit big guy.
No, that's honestly good.
Yeah, good.
So I think that's kind of rare federal government W.
Yeah, the letter sent to auto dealer sites
several examples of illegal pricing practices
in the auto industry, including advertising a price
that does not reflect all required fees,
advertising a price that reflects rebates or discounts
not available to all consumers,
advertising a price that fails to take into account
the amount of an additional required down payment.
That's a big one because a lot of times they'll advertise,
especially like you'll see big dealerships,
regional dealerships be like $299.
Come on in, get your new whatever.
Yeah, but with a $5,000 down payment.
And then it's a $7,500 down payment.
Some of them are crazy because I was looking around
for like lease vehicles and stuff too.
And it was like, oh yeah, you get this vehicle
for like $259 a month for like three years
or something like that.
But $10,500 up front down payment.
That's like, fuck dude.
Yeah, conditioning the advertised price
on consumers using dealer financing,
requiring consumers to buy additional items
not reflected in the advertised price
or advertising unavailable or non-existent vehicles.
This went out to groups like Lindsay Chevrolet,
Leader Automotive Group, and Asbury Automotive Group.
Damn.
So honestly, that's.
I hope something actually gets done.
It's not just like, hey, you better do that.
They'll find another loophole or something.
Yeah, that's actually.
And then no one does anything.
Dude, I'd be so pissed if like, you know,
we've done it before.
It's like, hey, I found this vehicle,
but it's like a couple of states away.
I'm going to try to go get it.
This was the price.
You know, we talked about it.
And then you get there and it's like, oh, well,
actually it's like $12,000 more than that
than we told you it was.
The FTC is a tricky one to like love or hate.
But I do think the Federal Trade Commission
without any sort of influence from the goodies or the baddies,
like it is a good thing to have.
Because there's so many of these massive companies
that if they can take advantage of somebody or something,
they do, they just do.
And financing is a big one.
That's a huge one where it's like $499.
But you have to go with our dealer financing.
And then you go get dealer financing
and it's a 9% interest rate for a car loan.
And then they'll add on all this other shit.
And the next thing you know, you're paying $700 for a $25,000 used car.
Stupid. Sorry.
Your turn.
No, you're fine.
So I got another one here.
This is from Carscoops, which I've never heard of.
So I guess take this info with a grain of salt.
I don't know if it seems like it checks out, but I don't know.
But so Audi has the new RS5 coming out.
Looks fucking sick.
And it's the Audi's back.
Yeah, it is mega thick as thick as you can get.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
The new RS5 makes 630 horsepower, which that's nuts.
But to do that, you need some weight behind it, I guess.
It currently weighs more than a V8 F-150 Super Cab.
How much does it weigh?
Let me pull that up.
It's the same.
I'm glad we're getting an RS5 though.
It is so heavy.
Yes, I am too.
I'm OK with the weight a little bit more.
OK, so the sedan currently tips the scales at 5,190 pounds.
And then.
That's why the roads are constantly under construction, my guy.
So yeah, for perspective, you compare that with the old RS4 Avant.
That was 4,012 pounds.
Jesus.
So they've gained over 1,200 pounds.
Is there an electric or hybrid powertrain in that?
It must be.
It has to be.
Any time you add a big battery in there, you're adding a ton of weight.
Any time you're clipping over 4,400 pounds, there's a hybrid system in there.
The thing is, it's so sick.
The thing is, it's so sick, I don't care.
Dude.
Well, right.
Isn't there like safety concerns with that though too?
Like because if that thing were to get in an accident, it's essentially a tank
and you have a lot of momentum.
It's a semi at that point.
If there is one brand, I want to come back.
Yeah, I wonder how the stopping.
To the enthusiast market.
It is Audi.
OK.
I just, they have such cool stuff that is almost there.
Such cool stuff that is almost there.
The RS5, the RS6, the RS4 is dope.
The RS3 is rad.
They're just really expensive.
Some of them are really expensive.
And some of those mid 2010 cars didn't quite age that well in terms of.
You know, it's crazy though.
It's just, it's a 2.9 liter twin turbo V6.
So it's got to have some sort of like hybrid.
There's a hybrid in there.
It has an electric motor stashed inside the transmission.
There it is.
But, well, right.
But still, like it's a V6 sedan.
600 some horsepower.
Even being, Jesus, how much the NSX way?
I'll be honest, I'm not against forced induction V6s being in higher echelon
cars.
Sure.
I like V8s.
I think they have a place.
But I don't know if it's needed.
What about forced induction V8s?
Good.
M5, for instance.
Good, good.
But with everything going to like a plug-in hybrid or a hybrid powertrain.
I think, I think that electric motor twin turbo V6 or some sort of forced induction V6 is like
the budget, not budget move, but like the more affordable move.
Because V8s are expensive, especially European versions.
The V6 brings down cost, makes it a little bit more reliable.
You're not having to deal with so much.
You actually get better fuel efficiency.
I just think it's more like realistic.
Okay.
And the NSX is also V6 twin turbo, isn't it?
V6.
No, V6 hybrid.
The new NSX.
Okay, so my brain's not fully awake yet.
So give me some slack here.
But like, I can't make sense of this.
The new NSX weighs between 3,800 and 3,900 pounds.
And the new RS4 weighs over 5,000.
Where the fuck?
What the fuck?
Both are hybrid.
You know, like what?
Yeah.
Well, they just put lead weight in it?
Yep.
They put them in the boxing gloves.
Fucking full steel doors and hoods.
Yeah.
Maybe they put a GTT hood on it or something.
You guys think we're joking about GTT hoods?
Lift one up.
We should get a carbon hood for it.
Even if we got to paint it.
That would be a legit mod for this.
That would actually improve the performance of that car.
It would. 100%.
A thousand percent.
That is the heaviest goddamn hood in existence.
I have news as well.
Not that a lot of people will care, but there are few.
LP'ing is a car manufacturer.
French, love them.
I got to drive the A110S when I was over there.
And I fell in love with it.
Sure.
Is that the one that the kid seen it?
Okay, that one.
That white one.
And super cool.
Fun.
Transmission was great.
Infotainment's perfect.
Light.
Nimble.
It feels great.
But they can't come over to the United States.
Of course.
LP'ing just announced that they had done crash tests for the next A110 for a possible U.S. debut.
Hey.
That would be good.
What kind of price range is that vehicle in?
That's like Lotus range.
Okay.
So it's up there as like a new car.
But the pre-owned stuff, it obviously comes down.
What are these standard price nowadays for new cars?
Yeah, right.
Honestly, all things considered.
Get you a Nissan Z.
70K for a mid-engine.
I think it's mid-engined.
Yeah, it's mid-engined.
So would it be like, yeah, Lotus competitor almost.
Like Alfa Romeo kind of.
Yeah, like a cheaper Porsche.
Okay.
So wait, where is it produced though?
In France, actually?
Yeah, a lot of this stuff is made.
Interesting.
French made.
The fuck does France make besides Big A?
Tires.
That's true.
Her song.
Yeah.
So the A110 has a pretty.
The one thing I'll say that when I drove it,
the thing that impressed me the most was the handling of it.
It felt so small.
Yeah.
It felt perfect.
Like not like.
Really small.
Like Miata small or bigger?
It's bigger than that.
But like when you drive a Miata, for instance,
you'd be like, oh my God, the handling is really sharp.
But that's because the car is tiny and weighs nothing.
And like the steering rack is like on top of the front wheels.
So sometimes it can even feel twitchy, like too sensitive.
Elpin, that A110S, I don't know what it is.
It's just, it's perfect.
It felt so good.
And it's nice because it was new and it had some analog stuff
still and some digital stuff.
So kind of it's got like that kind of like,
like very like kind of exotic look.
Yeah, it's got a funky look to it.
It's got the Celica GT4 style front headlights
that I think look really cool, but totally worth it.
So not that we'll ever get it,
but if you guys want a car that you didn't know existed,
go Google search the Elpin A110 and see if you like it.
They look pretty neat.
You said Miata and it just triggered a memory,
this kind of random.
But my dad one day out of fucking nowhere,
he's like, I want to buy this Miata.
He was like doing the classic like Craigslist searching,
wanting to get a Miata.
We're like, okay, we can go get it.
So we go check it out.
And it has like some mods done to it.
Nothing like crazy.
It's like, it's pretty sad,
but like cosmetic stuff going on was yellow.
Did have like one of the headlights was like carbon
and it had like an inlet to it, like the intake.
That was about the extent of it.
And dude, it had the worst sounding exhaust in the world.
It was like, you're piercingly loud.
And then the funniest part was it had a boost gauge in it
that read zero and then 100 PSI and no vacuum.
And the kicker was as naturally aspirated.
Got that out of a cereal box.
What the fuck kind of boost gauge goes zero to 100 and no vacuum?
That's wild.
I don't know.
That's weird though.
Yeah.
It was fun though.
I ripped it around.
It's like an Amazon or a fucking like Timu one.
I don't know what the hell was going on.
I was like before that though is before Amazon.
That was eBay.
That was eBay.
Yeah.
It was like the early days of eBay.
Yep.
Sorry.
I like that.
How long do you keep it for?
Did he buy it?
A summer.
Yeah, he did.
Yeah.
We had it for like a summer.
I drove everyone.
So I rip.
It was just, dude, sounded bad, bad exhaust,
like straight pipe exhaust.
And we had us don't need to be straight.
No, no.
It was probably a cheap fucking exhaust.
And it was straight pipe.
So it was just, but it was still fun.
You still smiled while driving.
It was kind of hard not to.
Yeah.
2026 portion 992.2 Turbo S does 0 to 60 in two seconds.
That's all that happened.
Numbers are getting insane.
You know what I want to know?
Stop doing 0 to 60 tests.
Start doing Apple CarPlay connectivity speed.
That's what I want.
In consistency.
How fast, when I push the start button,
does all the shit on my phone connect to the car
and then instantly go?
Can I say Apple CarPlay is probably one of the best
inventions in our generation?
Yeah, I agree.
I love it.
Yeah.
I love it.
I didn't know what it was like till I had the Z.
And then I was like, I see why people don't go back.
I know.
I might be glazing a little bit, but like I,
like that's a selling point for me.
It aged me because I used to be like,
I don't need none of that fancy shit.
And it's like we got the type R and I'm like,
I want all the fancy shit.
It's nice once you have it.
Dude, it's the top shelf effect.
If you drink rail all the time
and you never ever get a little bit of top shelf stuff,
you're fine.
You don't think you're like, I would never pay.
That's insane price.
Then you have a top shelf drink.
You finally get that gray goose and you're like,
Holy fuck, what the fuck have I been doing this whole time?
That's what happens.
It's like getting a heated steering wheel.
The Mark 8 GTI has a heated steering wheel.
I swear, I would be like, I would never want that.
I'm hot naturally.
I don't fucking want a heated steering wheel.
I used it one time.
I was like, this is actually really fucking sick.
And I'm like, it just warms up your whole body.
I love heated steering wheel.
Yeah.
And it turns, it goes on so quick.
I feel like heated seats, they take a while usually.
Yeah.
But a steering wheel is like, they get hot instantly.
Yeah.
No, it's a, that's another great invention.
Yeah, another great invention.
Yeah.
Motegi racing wheels.
Yeah, I'd say so.
Which they're a partner in the Martini Works Podcast.
You guys have actually been picking up some sets now
now that we've been talking about it.
So I just wanted to say thank you for trusting us.
And if you enjoy them, add your car to the build thread
so we can see what you got set up on your car.
But with that being said, Motegi racing wheels
is a pretty cool brand.
They do some rad designs, flow form their stuff.
They've got polished wheels, which is actually a rarity
for a one piece wheel that you can buy, which is pretty cool.
They got like really dope Ford stuff too by the way.
They do have dope Ford stuff too.
The cool finishes, things like that.
But again, I'm just going to continue to tell
the wheel sizes are huge for Motegi.
Nine and a half plus zero, 10 and a half plus zero.
Absolutely awesome specs for if you're trying to build a drift car.
You guys know as well as I do, you're pretty much screwed
with wheel sizes once you get anything with overs on it
because you have to run these crazy, you know, specced wheels.
But getting Motegi racing wheels, you can get the Cossians
and 89 and a half plus zero, which is awesome.
Fits a ton of different S chassis stuff.
The fitments are cool.
The designs are rad and they're really well priced as well.
And I've said it before, but one of the cool things
about their finishes is the paint quality that they have on it.
Use an automotive grade paint, not just a wheel grade paint,
which is what gives the wheels a super big depth.
And that's something that even some of the higher end
wheel companies in Japan don't even do.
So if you're wondering why certain wheels kind of have
a little extra zaza on them, especially from Motegi, that's why.
So if you're looking to pick up a set of Motegi racing wheels,
you want to get some tires added with it.
General tire, the little brother of Continental essentially
has an $80 rebate right now that you can snag.
That's $80 off a set of four.
You can package them together, ship them to your door,
and you're ready to rock and roll.
Yeah. Yeah. One more tip too.
I know buying wheels, buying tires, that's a lot of money
to drop all at one time.
Even if you have the money, it's like,
fuck, do I really want to drain my account right now?
So we've had Catapult on the website for a minute now.
And you guys have been loving it and using it,
which is awesome because we wanted to add
another tool for you guys so that way you can get your parts
and you don't need to drain your account to nothing.
Catapult allows you to make low monthly payments.
And with that, to help you guys out some more,
you can save up to $70 on your order
just by selecting Catapult to use that checkout.
And it's just nice.
So that way you can get your wheels,
you can get your tires now.
You don't have to wait,
and then you can just make low monthly payments.
Sorry, I was getting choked up a little bit.
I was just real passionate.
It's just a really emotional thing to talk about.
We hope you guys enjoyed this episode of the podcast.
If you're going to be at Riverside, we hope to see you there.
