Hello and welcome to this car park. I'm Filippo. And let's start with the news. And we begin once again with tariffs and this rather confusing graphic. I want to talk a little bit, just a little bit about tariffs. Like two last week we covered the main thrust of the news story. 25% tariffs on all imported cars and some large car parts. Yeah. A couple of developments have happened. I don't want to rehash that whole thing. But a couple of developments have happened.
One is that when asked about car prices rising this week, the president said that he couldn't care less. So that's interesting. I mean, this is a, this is a story to American industry. That employees hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people between dealerships and production and the corporate offices and somewhere supply chain, totally logistics. So he couldn't care less. Which I thought was interesting. One other thing that I've been
thinking a lot about with the tariffs that I wanted to voice. Trump has said that we're getting screwed. And that we're going to make all the money. Yeah. You know who's going to make the money? The government. It's not us. Who's we? We got it. Got it. You know, you understand what I'm saying. This is really starting to hit me later. Like like Trump's. Oh, we're getting screwed by these other countries. Now we're going to charge that money and we're going to make more. No, we're not. We're going to pay more. Of course, the government is going to make more. It would be beneficial if that money that went back into government.
That there's a lot of programs. They're being cut by dough, so it's not real. Well, or just into our hands.記ment is also counting on tariffs to offset a lot of tax cuts. That there's a renewal also in Congress or now. You'll tax cuts. Right. But a lot of their math around tax cuts. It does include a lot of revenues from tariffs offsetting losses. Whenımı OK, but my point here is. The tariffs are being pitched as a way for us to make money. Yeah. I think that us in this case is the government. Yeah. It will actually cost the money to be made.
us money. And in my remembrance, when the liberals raised taxes, they call that a tax hike and
things cost. And then we lose some of our money. They call it a tax hike. How is this not also a
tax hike? No, no, it is. Okay. There's a couple of things that are also worth saying about tariffs
that came out after we recorded last week. So car parts being one of them, car parts are included
in tariffs. To some extent, unclear where that delineation starts and ends. And in theory,
components that are made in the US, but then used in final production that happens outside of the
US, the value of those components will be factored in to stop the tariff costs. Good. In theory,
like, let's say you ship something, you produce half the value of a car in the US. Yeah.
You're only paying tariffs on half the day. They will figure it out. The car, the car makers are
required to, to like issue statements about precisely what percentage of parts comes from various
countries and regions. It's actually doable. So then the car is only partially tariff, but like,
have part of the value is just going to component like when does the final installation add value,
does it not? If you look through enough government website pages, where there is some guidance,
it becomes very clear that nobody knows quite yet. The government has basically said, we're going to
figure that out for right. We will back date savings, I guess. Once we figure it out from when
it's just totally insane, but I do think that something that is being not really considered
here is that Trump's like, oh, we're going to win. And the very few Americans support the tariffs.
It is a vast minority, a vastly small minority, but the part who do seem to believe this we're going
to win. And the more I think about it, the more I realize the we who's going to win is the government.
We are going to lose. And in fact, as I even thought about it more, the COVID markups,
adjusted dealer markup is back. But this time, the the moneymaker is the government.
Yeah, the government is issuing markups. It's been interesting to see how different manufacturers
are planning on rolling these out. For example, Volkswagen said today that they're going to keep
prices the same for the first two weeks of April. And then in middle of April, they're going to
announce dealerships how prices will increase. But on window stickers, it will read manufacturers
adjusted retail price and then like import fee to they're going to delineate what we're
that on that subject. Our next news story for the day is this exact subject, which is Ferrari,
who also made an announcement, Ferrari announced that they are going to just
increase prices on their desirable cars, which is the F80 and the 12-cylindry desirable cars.
Those are the desirable Ferrari. The F80 is desirable. The F80 is desirable. And and and
hypercar prices have always kind of fluctuated desirable in the Perot songway. They're going to
increase prices. I'm I'm glad they've admitted publicly that some of their models are a little less
and roll an SF 90. They are not going to be increasing prices. They said they said I didn't read about
26. I assume it's included in the price. The 296 SF 90 and Roma are not all 296 won't change.
I mean, that's it's more competitive. That segment's more competitive. It is and they also said
they're going to cap the increases at 10 percent. 10 percent will be on that. But that's a lot,
you're talking about a lot of 12-cylindry that's got to be $40 exactly.
12 percent. I mean, or 50 yes. Again, the federal government is doing ADMs. Everybody who
complained about markups, if you're supporting this, the federal government is doing markups.
And again, that money is not going to us. It is going to him and the government. It is insane.
So, but regardless, that's the price you know Mercedes announced Mercedes-Benz announced that
they are thinking of simply not importing their low end cars because their margin on the low end
low end cars must be pretty small. Yeah. Do you have a G63 behind you? You got to imagine
that that car has significant margins. Yeah. Maybe not 25 percent. No. But if they can increase the
price, 5 percent, 10 percent, eat the rest, they can for a year, six months, or whatever.
On a GLA, good luck. Which is what they've said to be clear.
And GLA is built in, is that built in Germany? Yeah. C class?
I think also. CLA? Only the SUVs that are bigger than the GLA are built here.
They don't build in Mexico. So, so Mercedes-Benz might just not be sending us the low end cars
for a couple of model of the years. They have decided. Nobody has made full decisions.
Even this decision from Volkswagen is a temporary stopgap. The BMW price protection for a month
is a temporary stopgap because the automakers aren't really sure how long this is going to last.
They're not very long and they're also trying to build in to build, I think Mercedes-Benz especially
is trying to build as much inventory as they can. They're ports and pretty much any land they own
is I think full of cars. That's because they can get those imported before April 3rd.
But it's hard. I mean, these were announced two weeks ago.
Having worked in this industry and worked with the logistics people,
you can't get these cars on boats that quickly. Like, the terrorists were announced
then they go into effect. They're not, they're trying to get all the cars port processed right away.
I'm sure. Yeah. But that doesn't, after that, the cars are on boats. You can't speed up the boats.
It's game over. That's it. Yep. And also to be clear, you can't speed up the boat.
You can try a lot of guidance still pending around how this will work,
how calculations will work, but where parts are produced, etc. Also, it's still unclear if this
25% is on top of the chicken tax for vans and trucks. We think it is, but it has not been
clarified yet. So like, if you're inios, and you already have a $100,000 pickup in the quarter
master, is that 125,000? That is, I bet the only vehicle that is chicken taxed. There's a few
others that are subject to that. I think, but yeah, I don't think so. Nobody else imports.
I don't think so. Trucks and vans. I don't think so. I don't think there are any other trucks
and vans that are not built here in North America, although they are built in Mexico and Canada,
but those are, were those were never subjects. The chicken tax only applied outside. Okay.
Regardless, a lot of guidance will to come. A lot of guidance still to come in sane situation,
and the government is, we're going to be spending more. Everything's going to cost more,
and the government's going to make more money. That's called a tax hike.
It's a lot, it's fair framing. By the way, the one thing that came out last week after we
recorded is that the Trump administration also floated a tax credit for auto loans, so the interest
would be tax deductible, as it is for mortgages generally. Give me a break. But like, who does that
help? Not really people buying. And also, it's a small amount. Okay. Say you have one of those
trucks that everybody complains about on Instagram that is a 1,300-month-a-payment. What is your,
what is your, you can only deduct the interest. So what is the interest payment? You can only,
the, not that's 150 bucks, and you can add 200. So like a couple grand a year. Yeah. Okay.
A couple grand a year in total. Then you deduct it. So it saves you. And only, even if you're at
the highest tax bracket, it's like $1,000 a year. And not if you take the center deduction. I promise
you, $1,000 a year, that truck's going to cost more than $1,000 a year just based on these tariffs.
I also just have this deep theory and feeling. Here's Doug on a soap box. The tariffs are on
American. At the end of the day, this country was founded by founders who created an amazing thing
that has been incredibly successful for 250 years and across a vast swath of the world. And this
country has always been something that other countries look up to when thinking about constitutions
and freedom and the way capitalism can work with a society. And that's because we weren't protectionist.
This country went out and competed against the best. And we won every single year. The America
succeeds. All of the products that we make, all of the things that we do win against foreign
countries. And we didn't need protectionism to do that. And I think it's just not American to,
we're going to protect our industries and hope they work well. Look at the countries that tariff.
It ain't the countries you want to be. Okay. Anyway. Let's move on to Aston Martin. Yes. So
Aston Martin has announced that they are going to do another equity raise. This would be the seventh
they have done since 2020. Now we've said probably pretty much that Aston Martin is suffering
financially. Well, nothing's changed, but it also seems that they are anticipating
having a lot of financial troubles going into this turf session. At least about one third of the
cars they produced come to the United States. We're huge. We're huge market for them. And we
already know those cars get heavily discounted and inside of our problems. It's not like Ferrari.
It's not like Ferrari, though they really want to be in and maybe they will be some day if they
build really short stuff, but they aren't right now. He believes in Aston because I have to want to
be a core enthusiast who are racing. Like the inferior should be everything we love. And yet
I want to give them I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. They have to deliver on it.
But I want to give it to them because they have a 12-zone car going to Le Mans this year.
How cool is that? He slipped it in two weeks at a row. That's right. That's right. It's what happened
when he deprived me of a new story. I'm going to kiss. Wait till we get to Le Mans. I'm going to
watch the whole thing. Anyway, so on the pond. It's going to be a lot of 24 hours. But yes,
the event issues going to China too. They did a 5% cut in their workforces as a result of sales
relating to China specifically. So there's a lot going on. But Lawrence Stroll, who is the chairman,
has decided that he's going to invest more of his money. He's put $600 million in the company
already. He's bought now. He's going to buy some more of the Formula One team for $52.5 million.
So Stroll himself is putting money in. He's a billionaire. He's putting his own
money into this brand. Now part of that is I think so his son can have a seat in a Formula One
car, which is what everybody believes. But he bought the entire his son good. Oh, the worst.
I'm not the worst, but he's pretty bad. And it's universally agreed upon that
Landstroll is not that great. It's like broad and broady. But the Fernando Alonso is quite good.
But like in next year, they're going to be formidable. The you know, the formula we can
talk forever about racing. I'm going to take the Valkyrie into Formula One. Oh, that's not how
it works. Should be back in the day. Formula One car. You drive it to the track. You win. You drive
it home back in the day. But no, last Stroll is like to know for crashing into things. Yeah, but
any but it is once. Right. So it seems this announcements. They're framing it as we need to prepare
for tariffs and stuff like that. Sure. I think Lauren Stroll is more control over the Formula One
team. So they put more money in it. But so they're doing another capital race. The seventh capital
race since 20th. This is easy to use anymore. I mean, like G. Right. No, it's Austin is I'm sure
they call it a seed continuation to be fair, but it's not entirely news in the sense that we know
Austin's a trouble. They've always been in trouble. They're still in trouble. And it's a shame
because I think I think if I think about what their long range plan could be, it seems like it

Please. I take the R8 approach of giving us something that is mid-engineed,
cool and exciting and a true alternative to the existing cars. Boom. And price it at 143.
Yeah. I mean, I mean, that's, yeah. You give us a stick V8 that looks cool at 143. You win.
The R8 was 109 when it came out and it changed Audi forever. Exactly. And I'm not saying
Aston Martin has the same formula and that you're not someone Q3s. Right. But like they
that I think that's a viable route for them and they should really conserve. The problem is
they don't want to spend the money to develop a mid-engine car. But one of the things that I've
realized, it's Nissan's problem too. You either spend the money at win or don't spend the money in
lose. You may spend the money at lose. But if you don't spend the money, you're not going to win.
Yeah. Like Nissan is not going to become successful by building the same trash they have built.
And I just, Aston doesn't build trash, but like give us a mid-engine sports car.
Give us a ride. I totally agree with that. I love the front-end V12 stuff. I'm not saying you
can't build that stuff too. But we know with Ferrari. We know with Ferrari. The front-end V12s
are not as successful. But they, yes, they are tremendously more expensive and they sell
a much more niche group of clients. If you want to sell to the masses who want mid-engine sports cars,
which is clear, but I mean, Porsche is not mid-engine, but from all the other success that McLaren
brought. But it is a true sports car. And I think Aston sits here and they sees that they see this
and they say, no, we're Aston. We don't build a, it's too sporty for Aston.
It's that stubborn British stiff upper lip. That's great. You want to make money or not?
You want to make money or not? It's pretty simple. You want to learn to
keep pumping money while you keep putting money. Do that and do a G-wagon and your game over.
Instead of a DBX, which is a boring non-appealing, do that and do a G-wagon and your game.
Equivalent. Yeah. Yeah. You will sell that. The hell out of that in the middle east, you will sell
the hell out of that in the US. Retool that factory where they're building the DBX for a G-wagon.
An Aston G-wagon. Of course, then Mercedes will probably stop selling an engine.

In Massachusetts, no less. One is over, we're in April now. That means that Q1 sales numbers are
coming in for different manufacturers. Looking at sales numbers. I do love it. So much. Long story short,
March, exceptional months for almost everybody, especially the last two weeks. Everybody in
response to the tariffs has gone out and bought a car. Knowing that car is more responsive. Yeah,
Subaru had their 30 second in a row month of a month of a month's growth and is their best month
ever. Yeah, does not have made a fact that is a true statement. 32 months in a row, three years of
growth. Yeah, just about. Wow. Key and Hyundai combined had record sales in March and in Q1,
but there are a couple exceptions. You want to guess what they are? There's two big brands.
I'm looking at it here, but I would have guessed it anyway. Tesla is undoubtedly an exception.
I've already read all the news. It was down 13% globally, 5.8% of the US. 13% globally. That's Q1
this year versus Q1 last year. So the question is, to what extent do we think that it's EVs?
To what extent do we think that it's 5.6% down in the US? Do we think that it's people who don't
want to associate with Elon? It's certainly the latter. It was down to 5.6% in the US. So less
impact is here than in Europe, certainly. Right. Which is very long time. Which has been a big
market for Tesla and other manufacturers, including Kia Hyundai, had record EV sales. Interesting.
So key and Hyundai have record EV sales. Tesla is going down. People are looking for alternatives.
It's not that they're not looking for EVs necessarily. I also saw that GM had a really strong EV
quarter. Correct. Correct. They're not looking necessarily not looking for EVs. They're not looking
for Elon. I will say Q1 had some EV incentives in the US that ended. In Q1, so that probably
brought forward some demand, but none of the less. Numbers are not. EVs are in Stellantis
down 12% in the quarter, quarter of a quarter, 10% to keep down 10%. So there are some manufacturers
that are still struggling. That's the seventh quarterly decline in a row. Oh, Stellantis.
So struggling. But the end of March is really telling just how many cars were sold in the last
two weeks prior to to tariffs being launched. And it brought everybody up pretty notably. There
are a few manufacturers that had flat quarters Toyota was flat on the on the quarter, but in
credible marches. I think they're all prepared for Q2 especially to be a real quarter.
Hey, man, you buy a Sequoia? You don't have to worry about tariffs, right?
Unless parts are imported from alter, which may be the case.
You know, I was interesting. I was looking at my Sequoia window sticker and it doesn't say what
percentage of the parts come from the US and what percentage come from other countries.
A lot of window stickers do say that, but the two cars that I own that were built in the US
do not say they don't need to. I wonder if they don't have the US, but that's annoying. I want to
know what percent. Or maybe it's only us. I don't know. Possibly. It should still say.
Couragey T zero percent. Yeah, mine funds 97% German and 3% American. Well, it's 90% something.
Yeah, but 3% American. Yeah, I think it could be 97% German, but the Couragey T is like 20%
Italian because the carbon tubs were built in Italy. Oh, what about fact? So in other words,
the automaker sales were strong in March. We'll see how they are in Q2. I suspect I imagine
every manufacturer is planning for a really tough April and a probably pretty tough Q2.
I bet April's not going to be as bad because I bet the majority of cars that are on the dealer
lots in April are not tariff because they were set that consumers being worried and dealership
seizing on it by marketing. But I bet either ships will seize on even that. Say, hey, this one's not
tariff. That's true. That'll be it. That's true. If they shift, yeah, if they shift their focus to
marketing that that these are tariffed, that's an interesting. That'll keep that'll be interesting.
Some cars in the lot will have tariffs on them. Some cars won't. Man, that'll be a line.
We're dividing line. It really will. The 992, they just announced the Carrera S. Yes, this is
the .2 Carrera S. This is their revision, which looks very similar to the one that came before,
but there are some some important talk. So you think they took this picture up that
street in the road to Delmar? Well, no, that's definitely not this. I produced this thing
set, but he's wrong. But they did take a lot of pressure of this car. And it appears to be in
San Diego. Some of them are driving the road instead of the road. But yeah, regardless, regardless.
Pricing was announced. Yeah. Yikes on a stick. Now, the pricing was announced before for the
tariff. 2026. It is not. Porsche has not commented on whether that includes forecast of tariff
increases. I will say, which is crazy because we're at tariff day. Portia's got to say something
at some point here. I've wait to. Regardless, Porsche of all the automakers and the tariffs,
I wouldn't be surprised if Porsche is the most impacted because they probably have the highest
percentage of volume that comes from. I mean, Ferrari is also 100% of volume, but their volume
is not as high. Yeah. Porsche is, it makes 40, probably 45,000 sales a year in the United States,
and a hundred percent of it is built outside the US and in competitive segments. The Macon,
the Coyote are competitive to other vehicles. They're, they're, they're, they're price-shopped.
That's exactly right. And I'll tell you this, with new Carrera pricing, the 9.11 is going to be
price-shopped juice. The new Carrera starts at $130,000 United States dollars. A hundred and 30.
That's a base Carrera. Carrera, are you aware that a new 06?
Same price. What does a new 06 got? 129. Is that true? It's so close to the same price.
No, the new 06 starts at 114. What? So, and I, you wouldn't get a base model, but you wouldn't get a
base 9.11 either. They added something as previously optional as standard, but we're talking 134, a
base Carrera. It's 8 grand more than it was in 2020, that it is this year. The base Carrera is 8 grand
more. Yeah. That is true. A Carrera S is 150, a GTS. I had that GTS press car a couple of weeks
called 205. 205. For a GTS. Man, I can think of it. 205. Man. It makes the GTS 3 look like a great
model. You can get a Mercy Elago. You can go Lamborghini Mercy Elago. Go to the Mercy Elago dealer.
GT3s started at 224, by the way. GT3 started at 224, which feels like a deal if a GTS
with some options is the same price. Yeah. Now, getting a GT3 is not all the easiest thing.
I'm getting one with no options. 997 GT3 was a 119 car. I'm trying to look 109 car.
Do the adjusted for inflation. No, I'm just trying to look at the windows. I guarantee you
a just for inflation. This doesn't come out in Portia's favor. I guarantee you, they did an 8 grand price
increase. So I don't, inflation was not, I was like 10 percenting. They also included the
leather packages standard. That was 208 dollars. A couple of things. They're still 5 grand.
The brakes from the GTS are standard now and this car does have a bunch of things.
Actors. 997 GT3 and 997 GT3 in 2007. 17 years ago. Long time. Yeah. 106.
Bates. 166. 136 thousand dollars. In 07 money, that's that's 160. Yeah. And the car now costs
225. Think about that. I mean, the fact that a base starts at 130. I will say, Portia obviously
is doing, look, we're talking G wagon today. Portia's doing this for the same reason. They keep
raising G prices. Do you know what new G63 now costs the same as a G550 did when this model came
out? The new G63, the new G63 now costs the same. The new G550 now costs as the G63 did just
five years ago. What? But the reason is, I don't know how much. 150 base. But the reason is,
they sell them. Portia's sitting here going, we're selling them. Let's keep raising it until
the feet. They start not to sell, which looks face it just doesn't seem like it's going to.
But if it was 25 percent on top of that, well, that would be hard. Portia is also in a situation,
though, where this car is becoming more and more desired, more and more vaunted. Ferrari is only
getting more expensive. There was a time in the 70s and 80s when a 911 and a 308 were comparable cars.
And then it became a 911 turbo is comparable to the Ferrari lineup now, even kind of Ferrari's
even gone beyond those. But these cars are just really special. The thing that I find out,
though, is Portia doesn't have an entry car to really capitalize on this. You're saying
came in Boxster, but they're about to go electric. And they're not even, where is it?
Where is a 78 to $112,000? That's about it. It's a five year old model. You'll find it at the
CPO a lot. Yeah. I guess. But it's interesting. It both feels like so much money. 130 feels like a
ton of money for a base 911 with 360 ash horsepower. I don't know,
something in that realm. Yeah, that's a lot of money for not a ton of power. But people buy them.
Well, the career, yeah, the career, this now, the dot-2 career, that makes 407. Yeah, but what about
a base? Yeah. Nobody knows. 450 in that career. S is a pretty strong number. Basis 388,
four creras, four seventy, four seventy three. And the GTSI drove, I was just complaining about the
price, but the GTSI drove was 535 horsepower. That is, you know, you know, what a 06 has?
670. Well, yeah, and the ZR1, which is cheaper than all these cars, has a million horsepower.
Right. About approximately a million plus or minus a couple. Okay. With that in mind,
bring us back to our next news story. Can somebody tell me what this vehicle is?
Karma Amaris. Karma Amaris. Karma exists. Karma exists. So the, so the story of this is,
the Fisker Karma came out 20 years ago, created by Henrik Fisker, this futuristic car.
When he had been in the company or sold it or God knows what happened, then it became karma as

the 037 was like, come on, get it. They drove one, like, changed the number of play drove.
Maybe it was the color. I can't remember. They had like a couple. They'll have like a wrap shop. So
one day they'll drive it around in red and then the next day the driver and blue. Right. That's
right. Exactly. So this is just like the, the Aspart Owl, basically. It's cool. It does look
real. It looks beautiful. The Aspart Owl is not pretty, but this looks really nice. They did some

an off-road trail? No, they're going to go somewhere with a crane and dangle the cars to show that
they can be towed. Well, I mean, it is truly off-road. They're in the air. It is off-road, I think,
as you could possibly get. That's a great point, kind of. Yikes. That's...
Who would have thought somebody else had done this recently, too? New passport looks good,
by the way. It does. It's just not a four-runner. Honda sees the four-runner sales. They're like,
we want that, but they're like, we can't really invest in that. And it's like, okay, we'll do this.
We'll make a pilot, but we'll put it in the desert with locks. It's showing how strong the frame is.
Well, and you know what? At the end of the day, we're talking about it. So it didn't kind of work.
We're also talking about how it's stuck in the right off-road or an incident there. That's true.

Speaking of cars that are flying. Oh, here's one of my favorite pictures of the year so far.
This is a Bugatti Shiron that is being seized. Now, evidently, this was in Austria on the Ringstrasse.
Indiana, yeah. And Vienna. And they have recently increased their severity of their laws regarding
speed, particularly in and around populated areas. This car was evidently doing...
It was doing 76 miles an hour there about. It's like just drought. Let's be honest. In a Shiron,
not hard to do. Not hard to do, but that road is the main road around the main inner city section of
Vienna. 76 is a wild number on that street. So, yeah. So this guy got pulled and sure enough,
they had threatened to impound cars if they were going more than 60 kilometers an hour in urban areas.
And boy, did they... This is... I suspect they wanted to do this to make a point, but they did.
Here it is, point made plate too. I live in fear of this. I live in fear that one of my sports cars
will be... You think this will happen to us at some stage?
Well, they can do that in California. In any state, honestly, if you're going fast enough,
and sometimes I think it's... I think it's very good to approach kind of...
Can't. But you know what I'm thinking? What if they saw me at my speediest, not that I've
ever speeded? God. But what if... And then they're like, what happens? Is the tow company or the city of
Vienna going to properly store and maintain a Bugatti She-Road? That is your biggest
deterrent for speeding. You don't want your car in town. Like, the dude probably doesn't care
about the driver's license points or the fine, but like, you do not want a month or however long
it is, with the city of Vienna and their tow guys messing with a She-Road. They're lost in,
they're careful and deliberate and professional. I... Sure. I think tow guys are tow guys anywhere
in the world. Yes, exactly. But what if faster than anything to see a Bugatti being put
onto a tow truck this way? Yeah. Pretty crazy situation, especially because in Vienna,
I mean, you're pretty far from being able to drive this car at crazy speeds on the Autobahn,
but doing speeds like that in real... I mean, this isn't a highway or anything. This is a
pedestrian's walk. Well, yeah, look at it. I mean, yeah, it's incredibly tight. Just to put
this thing on the truck must have taken a lot of effort. And no front plate. Got to put that too.
Yeah. Can't do that in Europe. Here in California, in the United States, you get away with that.

Yeah. Last weekend, I was in Seattle to drive a car on a racetrack for the first time.
Yeah. I've never been on a track before last weekend. And uh, generally named, named Wes,
who is doing one lap of America and then selling a car for charity on cars and bids. So the,
the car that I drove will be on cars and bids in about a month. Uh, once the, once they, once they,
once they're done fixing it, we'll get there. So he invited us up to, to film with it before he
does one lap of America, which includes eight races and race tracks around the US and driving
between them, uh, and then selling it for the American brain tumor association. So he
made it us up. And I got to drive on a racetrack for the first time. It was very fun. Show the
footage. There was one slight issue. Show the footage. So here comes Felipe. Oh, what's
driving right now? It worked out. Show that again. It worked out. Oh, here. We got up.
Felipe was focused though. Look at him. And then I apologize. Yep. Sorry about that.
It worked out. Well, I've never seen the tire record before. How close do we get to the wall?
Not really. Not really. Well, you don't flip it. Oh, wow. We have a lot of it.
It just looks like it. We guys know the movie, the talent job. They just many Cooper.
It's just like I'm looking at all these angles. I've never seen any of this before. It's amazing.
I have to give you credit. One, the first time a track name was a damp track. And I
which is scary, but too hard to find this track also is. It's really it's pretty quick.
And clearly there's not much runoff. There's not a lot of runoff. To be honest with you,
I have driven on track a lot. I would not have been going that fast. Obviously, everybody says that.
But like, it wasn't that fast. Yeah, it was damp. Uh, do you know what wet doesn't
do? Yeah, it was, it was, I was overly aggressive and breaking as people will see when they
watch the full video. Uh, and then I learned from it. And then I just break too hard.
Too hard. Yeah. Don't you think maybe you were carrying a little too much. I was sharing
a little bit of speech. I reacted and breaking. Uh, well, this is about here. You think the
breaking, you think the breaking got the car, breaking it during the same time with low traction
had a low impact. Yeah. Well, it's wet. You've got to be so careful. You know, wet tracks,
the good drivers on wet tracks. Or it's like they go just as fast or not just but close.
Me on a wet track. Half the speed. Yeah.
The rest of the last, by the way, we're incredibly fun for the ones where I didn't have a little
spin. Right. Uh, how many laps did you do? Seven, eight, uh, some of that. Man, but I have to give you
credit also for it. Yeah. Good job. Saving it, keeping it out of the wall. Thank you. Thank you.
That's, uh, I can only imagine that was a, we'll put it gently, a code brown moment for you.
In that, that situation, but you did a good job like getting the car. He does do a
figure you to job. Yeah. And not putting it pretty quickly, pretty quickly. He starts to correct,
like right away. Yeah, like I can't do much at that point. That's the bridge and avoiding
what we'll keep. Got the wheel going in the right direction by the end. Subsequent laps that
corner was a little scary. Both because. Yeah, I bet. I had a slight issue. And also I had
sprayed dirt all over it as a result of that incident. Yeah. Uh, what is this specific raceways
and like Kent is. Man, that is tight. That is not a runoff. That's, dude, that level of runoff
on that level of wet. I would have been going seven miles away. And the automakers would have been
making fun of me. And I'd have been like, yep, I can't say it's an incredibly fun track. And all I
want to do now is go race on tracks. Wow. I doubt you. I recognize that it's expensive to go race
on tracks, which impacts my own. When we did two years ago, the race out in the desert,
when we ran it out truck wall for the day and we went there, I invited you when you were like,
I got work to do. I'm not going to do that. I'm sad. I mean, when he worked now, he's,
he's going to be the, he's going to set up the next event for us and where we're going to go.
And yeah, it was legitimately so much fun. I'm excited for the video to come out. There's
somehow even more angles than that to show the incident and the rest of the track day. I was
probably too aggressive. I said at the beginning that the hardest part for me was going to be
being aggressive enough because I'm a, you guys both know this. I'm just a very cautious person.
And I pushed myself and it resulted in that. And I will never push myself. That's how you,
you have to do it to start to learn where the limits are. So like I think that's great. And I
deal situation. You do it like in a large parking lot on a car that's not well. I did it on a closed
track in a car that wasn't his. That's a start. There you go. That is a start.
Our 53 mini Cooper has been shipped to start one app of America, which starts in two weeks,
some of that. And then we'll be on the side. Flippa, I'm very proud of you for going out and
doing this. I think it's a great cause as well. I can't wait to see the video when it comes out.

No, no. Good driver's and people who go like they don't have these
much of ever like they really work out to a point where you'd go through a corner at the speed
to even potentially get into this situation. It's every every racing driver has had an off
of some pro racer driver guys driving their M3s that they just 100 kind of brought to the track
are trying to avoid this kind of. Yeah, I was also trying to avoid it. And here we go.
Yeah, it was on the first lap. No, no, no, lap three or four. I had pushed a little bit too far.
And then I was going to the corner a little bit too fast. And then I scrubbed a lot of speed
really quickly. Wet wet is scary. Wet is scary. It didn't feel as wet as it looks.
Yeah, until the car started sliding, of course. Okay, the other thing I want to talk about is
Kennan and his Audi R8 situation. Kennan, tell us everything. So several weeks ago when I was
a million island, I drove my friend Stephens R8. First gen R8 manual, yellow, which was called
Coupe. Loved it. We have another one in the office that's red manual Coupe. First gen as well.
I went and filmed a, I went and filmed a photo guide, which dropped things on the photo
guide. I filmed a bunch of videos with it. It's the right car, you know, great color and stuff.
And I was driving around in it. And for only the second time in the last decade, I was like,
you know, if I just, what if I just got rid of the M5 and just drove this instead?
And that, the only of the time it happened was the 981 boxer spider. I was like, you know,
what if I just, because the thing is I'm a single guy and it's, I suspect it, I know it won't last
forever. And you constantly tell me that you regret that you didn't buy more sports cars when you
are because you only own practical cars. You own fast wagons when you were my age because we're
seven years different in age. And so a little doesn't feel like it all the time. But,
yeah, I had, I was driving around and I thought, what if I did it now? One of the things that
kind of maybe stopped was immediately like the car's pretty bouncy. And so like I was like,
it would be a little rough to use every day. But then I had to come back to the office because I
forgot my sound receiver. So I parked at the top of our alley and I went down in our car
elevator. And I left it open. I could hear someone but buy one. Whoa, dude, that's like a real
exotic man. Wow, it's so cool. I'm like, you'd get a lot of that unwanted attention a lot of
the time. I say most people love the car. Most people really into the first gen. All right.
You know what it is. Yeah, it's so into it. But I was like, I don't know if I'd want that
attention all the time. There's a lot of great stuff about it. I will say the bright,
ours is bright red or the black side blade looks awesome. I thought it looked awesome when I saw it
in no eight. Uh, Doug claims to have seen this specific vehicle in 2008. You have pictures of
in. Well, no, but it was sold by that, it was sold by that dealer that month. And Georgia only does
30 day temperate. So unless they sold another red black one, then that dealership that month.
Why saw that one? So regardless, I think I think you would have less of an issue if it wasn't red.
Yeah, if it were silver with the blades or blue or something. Yeah, something different.
I just think about that car is I think that no car, none in the world combines the following three
things usability, exotic and affordability. I agree. That no car combines those three things.
Well, none. I think of a better one here. He's trying. No, no, I'm saying that you're close.
What's big? No, that comes close to my point. I know. But what comes more?
They're market GTI. Okay, the exotic part. You can hit two of those three with a lot of cars,
including a 911, but the exotic part is lost. And the Ford GT does better with the exotic part,
but affordability, it's way more expensive. The R8 does those three things because in terms of
usability, the front is pretty practical. The interior is pretty big. Yeah, it's pretty comfortable.
It's comfortable. It's pretty good. Visibility is good. Parts are available.
Surfacing is easy. Reliability is not a problem with that car. No, there are some things
like every car, but that's true. Like 997's from that area. I had some things.
AC works great on that one. So like, but yeah, I know I agree. Like that was it's design
brief one. They produced it news. It still does that today. And it's still like I've really enjoyed
now. I admittedly like, I want them both. I think that's probably the answer for me.
Is that why you parked behind the R8? Just like picture.
I do think though that if you had both, you drive the R8 a lot more.
Well, that was the thing. I was driving around. It's like, I just realized like this is
it's usable. It's really, especially in your situation where you're not carrying baby seats
or large items often or whatever. Stroll or like, that is a pretty usable car. And it's also
really affordable to buy. Yeah, I'm six or 65. Yeah, yeah. Values are really, really interesting
to me. So I'm going to go to transmission manual. And then click on lowest price. What are they?
What are they? What are the cheapest sticks? So you can get these are some of these cheap ones are
probably kind of rough. But the meaty part of this segment is 60 to 75. That's that's a lot of
car. That's a that's a very special car for that kind of money. That red one, that red one sold
at 72, gated red, gated red. That's what it with blades. You're not going to find for 72 grand
a more exotic practical usable car than this. And NSX comes close, but it's it's maybe just as
exotic. It's not quite as usable. Yeah, and it's again, it lacks kind of the theater and the
drama of this car does because that engine sounds phenomenal. Yeah, it doesn't have quite the theater.
The usability is a little compromise because I'm not sure if people are still taking NSXs to
Acura dealers, whereas this I would have no problem taking an Audi dealer. Yeah, I mean,
or an Audi specialist. It's the same V8. Yeah, yeah. And a lot of other cars.
So I you know what's weird about this car, you know, I was thinking of this film in it.
If I described to you a sports car that had a different colored contrasting color panel going
down the entire rear quarter from top to bottom. Okay. And it has no fenders. It has no front
fenders. It's just a hood. And there's a randomly placed second rear window, even though it has
no rear seats, you'd say that sounds pretty ugly. Yeah, but when you look at it somehow,
it works perfectly. Right. That's exactly right. Like the side blade on its face sounds like one of
the stupidest things you've ever heard of in your life. It works. And without it. Without it.
It doesn't work. It doesn't work. It doesn't work. On cars that have a body color side blade,
they are actively not as attractive. They are actively uglier. They're hard to find. They're hard to find.
They're hard to find. Depending on the color of the side blade, it can work. Black, black can work,
which could fundamentally it would be, is that. Black, black, black, black. It's really hard to find.
They're hard to find. Almost all the silver cars got a dark side blade white. And a lot of
the people, but it's modded. Mods, but it gives you the idea. It looks okay. It gives you the idea, though.
I agree. So you're going to do it? I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, I'm going to think about it
some more. I just, I, getting rid of the M5 would be very hard for me because I really love that car.
But and it's so sorted now, which is like the traditional Canon problem. Like with the 355, I sorted
it. And then I got rid of it. The M5 is sorted. And I should use it and enjoy it as well.
Yeah, but sorted. You, you said you've put a hundred thousand miles on that car. Almost. We're
getting close. Yeah, almost a hundred thousand miles. Did you, we offered? Can you did it?
A 993 Turbo S and he said, no, I don't know. I don't know. It's just, again, I felt that way
about the Boxer Spider. I actually had a very emotional experience that it was cute. It was Sam's
car. And I went and drove it and I drove my M5 back to back and I was like, I can't do this. I can't
get rid of the car. And in retrospect, the drawback of the Boxer Spider is the practicality would
be priceless. Ultimately, like the top thing would become an issue to Trunks. Yeah. And the top
doesn't is not that big a deal on that one on that day. After six months, I bet you're like, well,
this has annoyed me. Yeah, but we live here. But it's your only car. It's rained every one
of the last two weeks. That's it would be annoying. It's not currently raining now this morning.
It would be annoying. It would be annoying. But the R8 like, I don't know. I am
act genuinely actually thinking about it. I want to talk. I think that you should think about it
and I think that it's legitimately cool. And you should think about that one specifically. And by
the way, hate to admit it. Love the exhaust. It is. Have you heard it? No. The cold start is
I'm going to do an impression of the car. Please turn on. It's actually pretty close.
Just forgot to do the gauge thing where they go. I
when you drive it, though, the start would be way annoying. The cold start is it doesn't sound
like it sounds like a muscle car. It doesn't sound like that. But when you drive it, it sounds good.
It yeah, when you're when you're getting up there in the revs to be honest with you because I did
drive it around a little bit with the windows down. It actually kind of hurts me. It's actually
that sounds like the windows down. But I yeah, it was that's why I think the owner did only
drove with the windows up. Hence why it had to be so loud. Okay, we got to talk about Nick. We
got to talk about Nick. Since we're talking about our rates, we got to talk about Nick. Pull up.
Can you pull up YouTube and his video? Nick has bought a Bentley Arnage. We talked about it on
the site already, but the very on this pot already. But the very first Nick Arnage video has
officially gone up. Nick. There he is standing in his driveway at midnight when the car got
delivered by some some Uzbek shipper that he found. Anyway, here is the Bentley Arnage. Oh wow,
we're going HD. We want to see Nick and HD. We do. It's a great video. How bad it looked.
It's a great video. The car has been a complete disaster. Nick doesn't think it's a disaster
even though it doesn't currently have any interior panels. That's how it looks now.
So anyway, Nick's just launched his new cars and bids project car because he sold his Maserati
on the site. He sold his P38 Range Rover. Now he's on this. This is undoubtedly the most ambitious
Nick project car and cars and bids project car yet. I want to know tell everybody else
the currently he has removed all the wood. So Nick took the all set. Well, it's got it's an amazing
story and I'll tell it in a video. But one of the things that has happened is that Nick decided he
wanted to refinish the wood trim. To be honest, it looked fine to me. He decided he wanted to
refinish the wood trim, but because it's Nick, he couldn't do it retail. He took it to a guy in
Mexico, which in here in San Diego is actually not all that uncommon for people to do for
like save much bodywork. He took it to a guy in Mexico who told him that he would if he would give him
a discount if Nick removed the wood himself. Nick did remove the wood himself. He damaged several parts
in while doing it. One part, he couldn't get off because that part is just not going to be
refinished. It won't match. And the guy texted him like a couple of weeks after he gave him the
wood and he said, hey, by the way, I have cancer. And so I'm not really going to be able to get to
this anytime soon. And so Nick's just we hope he's fine. It's just drive around with the interior
would all that to say you should watch the video. That is the level that we're talking about with this.
It's going to be a great series. Yeah. And I fear for you know, when I saw that car in person,
one of my first reactions was was not that the wood needed to be done. There's a lot that
that car needs. That's right. On a list of 50 things and you could make a list of 50 things.

Well, well, you know, it wasn't leaking the last time I have to have we have we you know in our
friend group, we often encourage to take people that you've just done with me with the art to take
bolder and bolder decisions. Yeah. Have we stayed a little too far? No, no. I thought about
this a lot. And I really think what happened is he did well on his P 38. I think he made money.
He did okay on his Maserati. And so each the market has reported each six exactly each
successive bad decision he's made has emboldened him. I don't worked out for this car worked out for
that car. And now I'm going to try it. But let's see going to get next. I don't hear for it
because it allows us to have a friend that has a Beliornage. I think it really yeah. It really
has been effective for me. I'm kind of not interested in buying any more cars right now,
but at the same time still want to have new experiences. And Nick has allowed me to do that.
I've driven this car a bunch of times. It was a great experience. Love to drive it thrilled. I don't
own it. Yep. It's like a boat. You're just thrilled to get off of it. Yeah. Hand the keys back

There's only two things I want to cover. One of them is new WRXs. Can you pull up
WRX and can't start the year at 2000 and 22. Here's our. There we go. Okay. Start the year at
22. Scoop years. Current generation WRX. I have a lot of thoughts here by the way. And type in
lowest or do lowest price. I mean folks new WRXs which is a car I love. Absolutely love. Oh God.
Oh God. Type a note to yourself. These are in the low 20s. We just sold one a couple days ago for
20,750. You see the similarity between all the lowest price ones, right? I hate the fact that
I see it. What they're modded. I like the mods. I actually like the mods too on most of these.
But all the heavily modified ones are going for the least amount of money. Well the reason for that is
they're all still under warranty. So if you've modified the car you've voided your warranty. And at
this point in the car's depreciation curve, people are the warranty and the new diff are still
desirable. In a few years. Yeah. New WRX, 10 grand off a sticker. Yeah. New GTI, 10 grand off a
sticker. New Golf R, 10 grand off a sticker. The current generation of these cars have not found a
market. The WRX got, yeah, but this is questionable looking. This is the most appealing.
There's a great. WRX got questionable looking. The GTI. I actually also like it, but the market has
agreed that it doesn't look great. That's right. And the look is good as the prior one. So the GTI and
Golf R have interior infotainment concerns and reviewer. Well, he's aggressive and reviewers
have panned it widely for that. They just don't have the demand. Dude, as a client. But it's true
of all of them for this car is a year. I know. What do you think about a GTI for 20? Have you
driven one of these yet? No, I really want to. It is a wonderful car to drive. And so it's my GTI,
like I mean, that's a class. So it's my GTI. Just the market hasn't been interested. This is a great
powertrain. This is a great car. This is a lot of fun to drive. And you can get it for 2021. Yes,
please. I want one. The, the last gen WRX is everywhere. The last gen, the Mark 7 GTI is everywhere.
Nobody seems to care about the current ones. And I think it's a mistake because they're all great
cars. People have moved on. I told, I agree that when they were to a lot of hate when it came out,
the, the, so did the, the GTI, the all kinds. They're bargains now. It's such a good drive.
It steers well. It handles well. The engine is fantastic. And you can monitor, look at this.

Well, no, I'm not doing this, but I would. I have to say, I've never driven one of these cars.
I very much would like to. They don't bother me the way they look. They'll doesn't bother me at all.
Especially the darker colors kind of covers up the fender things. What would everybody use colors?
Yeah, come around. I've come around on it too, but I, that is a seriously compelling car.
I mean, it's a pretty new performance car with a manual transmission. Yeah, for 20. I'm telling you
to, I'm telling you it drives well. I swear, I think that you would actually enjoy the way it drives.
I'm sure the powertrain, even though it's a flap, it's a four cylinder on. It's just like
geared wonderfully and the power delivery is smooth. So there's good low delivery too. It's just a
really, really good car. And I still like how they look. I always, I initially hated it.
And then I started seeing them around. And this weekend, I saw one on the road and I was like,
you know what? I've come to a point where I actually now actively like it. How it live with you,
which I hate to admit. Okay. I want to talk about the M5 wagon, Felipe. Yeah, we literally
today as we're filming this sold in the 39 528 I wagon that was converted to an M5 basically.
It has a, has a, as a V8 and a 6V manual storage of M5. Yeah, crucially, it looks incredible.
It looks like what it would have looked like had BMW built an M521. Yeah, a lot of guys do the,
a lot of guys do the M5 swap engine swap and then do bad mods and don't go the whole way. This car
basically goes the whole way. Last night it was sitting at 27. And I texted Kenan and I was like,
Hey, tell me about this car. Tell me about like the engine what they've done. Is this the right
stuff? Like, should I be interested in this car? Thinking I could steal it for like 33. No,
these cars bring serious money. And this person did it properly. They did, they did the timing
chain guys. This is the vano stuff. They did like, I mean, yeah, when the most of the big stuff,
yeah, that you would do. And it was a 2000 engine. They updated the stuff that you should,
so it sold for 66, which I don't know like, no, that's, that's really like really well built ones.
That's where they got me. Yeah, maybe I mean, there's, it's harder to find a market on these.
They only come for sale, like once a year between us and bring a trailer and here and there,
they're very hard to find good ones. And because we sold one that was someone had done it,
but like had done some mods and all that stuff, not how I would have done it. But this one was
really, really nicely done. Yeah. And I really was hoping I could steal it. And boy, was that not
happening? No, I mean, people recognize it. And also clearly the market still wants the,
like it's like cool car wagon is cool. Combined the two and you get the coolest possible thing. Yeah.
And you know what's interesting? We aren't end that red RS6 Avant the other day for 80. Yeah.
I mean, we regularly sell pretty modern E 63 wagons at this number one less. I think that's
two 13 selling for this number really, really early preface of two 13s with miles and an
R and there's a much older like, you know, swap, like this isn't an M5 wagon. It's a guy made
an M5 way out. And yet it's still good. It's all well. Yeah. That's cool. I'm so here for it.
Like admittedly, it's it's a lot of money. It's a lot of money. But I mean, it's just damn cool.
It's one of those fine and other one things though. Like, yeah, you could make it yourself. You
probably make yourself cheaper. So it will take you a year. So hard that you have to cut out the floor
of the car. It's because that's where the spare wheel is. But in order to fit the exhaust and the M5,
you have to cut that out and put it in an M5 floor. Very common. Well, and there's other stuff to go.
Oh, yeah. Some side shot. Like, they flare out the fenders. They did. But that never existed.
But the five. Yeah. Fenders are a bit of a roll, but I don't think they are flared more.
Still look at mine. Like, that's that's the same. Yeah. But that's, but this is a wagon.
I the sedan. You think the sedan looks the same as the regular 528. I said, and with the fenders.
That looks like a chunk here. Ryan Schultz would correct me, but I think the
M the body pounds are the same. They just come rolled from the factory on the M5,
whereas they're not rolled on the standard 528. You're still painting them. I mean,
unless this car was anthracite when I left the factory, like, I would imagine it was fjord,
but I'm not sure. Fjord gray. It's such a nice thing. It's so cool. They did the interior too,
Canon. Maybe not up to the standards that you know, the interior is good. They put a full
other dashing and stuff. And then you can tell they used to 2000, like, put parts of from
a 2000 because they have the black gauge, which only came in 2000 model year for the M5. It is so
cool. I think it's incredibly well done. And 66, it's big money. But we remember we sold that F80M
3 wagon too. Yeah, totally. This is when you do a really good build and you do it well. And you
don't do the build and then put it on lowering springs and bad wheels and tinnet tail lights.
When you do a build well, the market pays off. I was really does car. I'm into it too. Great result.

There was a time when someone driving an expensive Mercedes wore a tie. That time was gone.

Top five car. It's actually since a no chain. What's your chain? Chain? My good car in the fan.
Oh god, right. Top car subject. First question from ex pilot. What are the top five cars that
will be not subject to a tariff? Sequoia. None. They will all be. You know, look at one car that's
incredibly popular that is built in America primarily with the American parts. The Toyota
Corolla. That's the fast majority of Tesla's will be the car. Yeah, but he's asking for top five
best. Top five best. So the Corolla, by the way, I don't think built in the US.
I will say it's, I don't know what the answer to this is because I'm still having trouble to
quite discerning exactly what's going to be subject to care for what's not. And I am certain
that cars that are subject to tariffs will drive up the entire market price. If you're a Hyundai
building a car in Korea and you have to jack up your price 20%. There's no way for building a car
in America doesn't jack up their price at least 12% because why not just in the extra? Also,
if you are even Toyota and some of your cars are built outside of the US, you're going to increase
the price across the boat because you can't have the. You're not just going to increase the price on
four runner. Yeah, totally. So it's a good question. It's just hard to say right now. And my suspicion
is that most cars will be, if not subject to a tariff, then their price will be increased
because of the tax increase. I do wonder whether manufacturer says,
Volkswagen has said they're going to put on the window sticker their MSRP and then an import fee.
If everybody goes to that direction, that might change that math a bit. If they want to really say,
this is not us. This is your government. Which is a tariff, which is a truck tariff, which has
some outputs. From Tengal 92, I recently saw Cadillac ELR on the road. New it was where I
didn't realize how rare it was. Here's the question. Has there ever been a bigger flop where
vehicle share platform? And one is a commercial success, but one is an absolute disaster. It's a great
question. First, I want to say those, there were actually three cars that showed that platform.
You're going to know about a tariff. A tariff. Amp tariff. Amp tariff. Amp tariff. I'm so close.
It's bad name. By the way, built in America and sold in Europe. It's a vault. It looks like the
vault. It does not look like the vault. Pull up the Opel Amp tariff. I'm sorry. What?
It does not look like the vault. The Opel Amp tariff is a radically different product.
Oh, yeah, you're right. Completely completely different product.
Totally different. Totally different. It looks like a dog that had like tears from that.
You're right. The side profile of the rear. Everything but the headlight treatment.
To the steering wheels on the opposite side of the damn car. Very different. Only the UK
for the other way. The Opel Amp tariff also sold in mainland Europe. You know, in
Malta, in Japan, South Africa, they probably sold nine of them to South Africa. Did you know
about the Amp tariff E, which is the vault? No, I did not know the next again.
Anyway, the question is cars that share the platform. One is success. The other is disaster.
The one that came to mind for me was the Buick rendezvous in the Pontiac Aztec.
The Aztec was a flop, but the rendezvous sold so well insanely that I actually suspect
that whole experience was profitable. Can you think of another?
There are a lot where there is a lot of, in a lot of bad engineering, one did more poorly.
A lot of pond, like the Pontiac G3 can't be sold that many of they did Chevy avails.
Yeah, it's actually the question is predicated on the fact that it doesn't usually happen,
but I would argue that it actually does usually happen where one car is the one,
right? And then they make stupid five matrix, you know, to give other brands a chance.
The one that's happening right now is the Honda Civic and the Acura Integra. The Civic
is a Civic and sells incredible numbers. The Integra, they were like, hey, let's just do this
because we're already making this car. But in the car purposeful that point, you're okay with
them selling. It's kind of purposeful. Now the ELR was actually a fully different design.
It wasn't just bad engineering. I cannot imagine the amount of effort that went into that failure.
What else? Oh, the Prius and Lexus HS250H. Yeah, that's a good one. And the CT200H,
which was also a lot better than the HS250H. The HS was a total fit.
Can't have never seen an HS250H. That's exactly right. He is not.
And the HS was the one that was actually based on the Prius. The CT was more Lexus HS250H.
Oh, 235. I mean, why? He only thinks in 235's like the BMW.
I can't help it. It just like falls that way. That is not scary looking.
Tractive vehicle. I loved how it looked. I thought it was great. This one.
Like, if this had a turbo four cylinder, it's got the body kit. It's got the wheels.
I see where Toyota got all their inspiration for the next generation Corolla.
Yeah, at the time. Yeah. Wow. Interesting. Maybe it's not a failure, but the
the Astamarton Signet and the Toyota. I mean, it's three kind of failures.
Both are kind of failures. But, you know, it does happen occasionally.
But that was probably an extreme example where one was a radical failure and the other one was
mediocrity. Was an Opel Emperor? Nice. Okay. Next question.
The idea from Amine. Amine. The idea of a halo car is well known. A car so good,
interesting unique that it brings attention to a brand and ushers and improved air like the R8.
Has there ever been a car that did the opposite? It was so bad that it indicated the downfall
of a car brand. I was thinking about this question. I don't even think the Ghibli, the 15-mots
Rade Ghibli really ushered in like the beginning of a bad era for Maserati. It's the downside of
going a little bit down market. You go down market, you go volume and that you create that.
And I don't think Maserati's image has ever really recovered. Like Audi's image went to here.
Well, Maserati's image went to here and they haven't really been able to bring that back.
That's a great idea. There are other good ones though. I bet.
Do you think I may have, would you say for Mitsubishi?
I'm Mitsubishi was already kind of headed in that direction.
I think that there are some recent Volkswagen's that have diminished what image
the brand used to have. The Passat and the Jetta, when they decontented them for the 10 model
years, and the Atlas, the days of VW being a cheap but high-end alternative to German
kind of went away. They got other stuff for it. They got volume and the cars are still pretty good,
but no one views them as like a budget Audi anymore. The Mirage to…
Can't explain about the IMF. I think the Mirage kind of did.
The Mirage, their Val-Volume seller. The Montero Sport and the Montero were volume sellers
in the late 90s or 2000s. It slipped to these small cars, and now that's all anybody
thinks of Mitsubishi. The Alinder exists and is a competitive vehicle.
Yeah. I don't know. It's an interesting question, and there are probably some other ones,
but it's an interesting question. I could think of more examples where the main,
whatever the most mainstream model was, had a poor redesign. Toyota…
Sorry, Honda with the Civic in 2011. 2011? The year that came out that they had…
12 emergency facelifts for 2013. That hurt them. Clearly, otherwise, they wouldn't have done an
emergency facelift the next year, but it didn't. They had enough brand cash-aided that it
killed them. Yeah. And they corrected it quickly.
And I don't think… I mean, those are minor examples, but I think the Ghibli is the best.
And certainly, nobody has hurt a reputation quite like the R8 helped one.
Yeah. Next question from Hugh K. Doug, would you break your no-new cars rule for the Gilmore
Girls Jeep? The Gilmore Girls Jeep, 1J4FAF499S0YP762227,

It's not that I would break my rule, Hugh. It's known on its face that my rule doesn't apply
to the Gilmore Girls Jeep. You know that, right? When I say I'm off cars, I'm never buying
another car. I'm not buying in cars. You know that if the Gilmore Girls Jeep is available,
I would buy it. Okay, so you want to try to tell the Gilmore Girls Jeep story?
I think it's time to it. All right, all right, here's the deal. So the Gilmore Girls,
what my favorite television show of all time, the greatest television show of all time,
the main character, Lorelai, throughout the show drove TJ Wrangler. And it was an unusual one.
It was this desert Sahara color that was only offered in two model years.
And they had two of them. And at the end of the show, which was like in 2003,
I wasn't even sentient. What were you? They auctioned them off. Like I couldn't have bought it.
No, they auctioned them off for charity. And at the time, the cars had spent their entire life
on the production lot, they had 3,000 miles, both of the jeeps. And so they were auctioned off for
charity. Years go by. I've always curious what happened to the cars. And I wrote an article about
it for autotrader, I think years ago, and I said, Hey, what happened to this Jeep? Well,
somebody commented and said, I bought the Jeep. It's me. I don't know if it's from the comments.
Wow. I said it's indeed. The comment was like two years after I wrote the article, I just
happened to click on it again. And there was the comment. So I'm like, oh my god. And the person
commented with her name, her real name. So I spent weeks googling, googling, googling. And I
mailed letters to many addresses that were associated. I couldn't find a email address.
I mailed letters to many addresses that were associated with her. They all were returned only
miles. And so I just said, you know what? It's over. I'm not going to get the Gilmore Girls Jeep.
However, one of the interesting things I learned from this was the Jeep was that the show takes place
in a small town in Connecticut. The Jeep was sold at charity auction to this woman who lives
in a small town. Connecticut. How cute. So I just desperate desperate. Every few years,
I would think about it again. I wrote the article by 10 years ago. And every two,
three years, I'd think about it again. And eventually five years ago, I Google and I'm able
to find the woman's daughter and I find an email address for and I send an email. And I say, look,
I know you have the Jeep. I want it. I'm sure. And I want it. I'm interested in it. And I'm
totally down and I buy it anytime. And she replied kind of ruby. She was like, this is a family
irrelevant. I'm not selling. And it was like, okay, listen. I'm not trying to steal it from you.
Like you take all the time you need with it. But when the day comes, the crossover between
car enthusiasts and Gilmore's Jeep enthusiasts, it's me. You're going to want to sell it to me.
Yeah. 100%. The sad part is if you go on Carfax, they've been dailying it for like 15 years.
That's great. That's great. They're driving from stars, Hollywood,
Chilton every day. And that's important. This thing's got probably 100,000 miles on it now.
Connecticut winters. And then every once in a while, they drive to teachers. We're in a song
there. It's got the rest all over it. Now the second Gilmore Jeep is actually still here in
SoCal. But the first one, the main show car, which is the one they have in Connecticut,
has my lucky number in the VIN. And it's just I want it really bad. And so I still want it.
And I'm maybe I'll send another email. You know the economy's slowing times are getting tough.
Maybe an influx of cash for selling your Gilmore Jeep would be nice. They really need that salt
exception. Connecticut. It's the time before that increases. So that's the story of the Gilmore
Jeep. Yes, of course I would break my new car's rule for the Gilmore Jeep. Don't be silly.
Q. There's a few other cars. Like if it tells us I wanted to sum me the Columbus,
if a Bentley Dominar came for sale, there's a few cars I'd break the rule. I mean, sure. That's
the point. But generally I'm not buying any new cars, even though I want a 993 turbo so bad.
I watched headwords 993 turbo video the other day. Oh, it's a good one. You see him. You see
yellow. He's like in Connecticut or Massachusetts. He's like accelerating up on ramp. And it's like,
oh, I love Tom's face, the binaural audio thing. He's just sitting there and you can feel the
car excel. Anyway, then I drove the crazy teen. I was like, I don't need a 993 turbo.
Okay, next. That's exactly what I had. And I haven't thought of it since. But I do kind of want it.
But not more than the Gilmore girls Jeep. And by the way, I guarantee I would pay more than anybody.
Oh, yeah. Oh, they're all seven grand. Yeah. Exactly. It's probably only worth like to a normal
person like 12. I know I've 1200. Yeah. I'd pay a bigger number than 12. Okay, next question from
Blumper. Here we go. You ready? I'm hold. Oh, no. All right. Hey, Doug and Kenan. Can you rank every
M3 from worst to best? We've been ranking all these cars every week. I want to I want to
preface this because when we cut this into a short, we're not going to include my preface, but I want
to preface it anyway. People get so mad. They're like, you said the 34 and five is the worst. You're
terrible. And it's like, I'm not saying it's the worst car. No, we're talking about great cars here
as stated. We're talking about it. They're yeah, they're all excellent cars picking them up. It's like,
it's like, it's like, it's that close. Like the 34 and five is still in my opinion, one of the great
German cars of all time. I agree. It's just that when we're ranking all the M5s, it's one
that's where it's last. And it's funny because you get two things when you see the comments of
these people hating us. And then people making their own rankings. And then they get comments of
people hating them. Like there's no ranking that satisfies every question. So thank you for coming
up with another one that you spread more hate and vitriol. Okay. So M3 is tough. We're going to
disagree sharp. It's not tough for the first one. Oh my god. What are you going to say?
Well, you're going to say that it's the G80. He's going to say 30, obviously. No, he's going to say
G80. Since I wrote this question into the doc, I've been debating this very thing. And now I have
to choose two. Damn it. You can start at worst. You can start at worst. I, well, for me, the best one,
I'll just say it as it is. I think the E46 M3 is the best. There's no four. So there's a convertible.
Well, guess what the M3 started as a two door. It should be a two door. But, but I understand
that the BMW disagrees with themselves. But the M3 isn't a two door anymore. It's not even a
two door. No, things change. But you're talking about heritage. What are you saying? What it started
as well? Things change. It should be a four. Of course, it should be a four cylinder, too,
technically. But yeah, what about that? But I'm a box fenders. BMW makes six owner engines. That's
a core competency engine. Like that's what they made. That's what they made forever. They're known
that the S54 is, in my opinion, the finest six owner engines that they made. You could argue
the B58 is off there too. And some people would make that argument. Right. He's
the B58. Is the B58, the three liter B58. That's the current one and everything. Yeah, okay.
Yeah, which, but I think the S54, it's everything in M car should have high revving, naturally aspirated,
six cylinder engine. Like that is BMW. And that is the M3. You made a good argument. So I think
that end looks amazing. Drives amazing. Well, it just comes from BMW's golden era, the early 2000s,
like it's, it has its problems, but it's the one you've made a good argument. Yeah. Was this
what was the two on the top of your list? Was it the GDN 30 exactly what you guys both said,
I would say, and I don't know, but you've made a good argument for the 46. I fault it for not having
a sedan because I know that the M3 didn't start as a sedan, but to me, what it is and was best at
was being a practical little toss about car. And the E36 M3 sedan was great at it. And later M3s
have pretty much were very popular sedans and then became only sedans. A great little
tossable car. So one would say that with less doors would make it a little. But the added
practicality without really losing much in terms of size is what that car to me was the best at.
Like, okay, if I want a coupe, I want a Cayman. I want a car that was purpose built as a sports car.
Yeah. Well, the M3 was, the E46 M3 was taken as a, your mom drives it kind of coupe and turned
into a sports car. But I want a purpose built sports car like a box. But that's what BMW M does.
That's, that's what BMW does with it. They don't build sports cars really. The Z4
exists in the Z3 before that, but like, this can be a one. I could tell.
It's gonna be long, but yeah, I'm gonna give my less than it.
Okay, I think I'm not a sports car, brother.
Technically, it was a super car at the time. Okay, all right. So E46 M3.
I remember Lambo built it. All right. So is that the top for me? Then I would say,
then personally, I think E9 X M3. Oh, wow. The V8. Wow. That is a surprise.
BMW, what they do is they build six cylinders. I try to get for you. I wrote down before you
started talking and I had E9 X as the second-class one for you. That's what I thought you were
gonna talk about. No, the E9 X still like the, although it is not as traditional in terms of
its engine, it's the only weird one. Instead of it in line sex, which you know, it's famous for
the second best M3. Actually, it doesn't have one at all. Can I tell you one interesting thing
about doing the M3s? There are six M3s. One interesting thing about doing the M3s is the M5s,
the Corvettes. There are some that I, that are not as good clearly. It's hard with the M3s.
Yeah. It's really hard. I don't see one engineer that F80s probably gotta be last.

Because it's a lot of money to go slow, but it is really well-balanced and it's very
attractive. And not as much as it used to be. It's once again, not a six cylinder, but okay.

Still then G80 then F80 and then that's it. That's it. All right. My list is completely different.
Give it to me. I'm going to say G81. It is sacrilege. I'm going to get destroyed in this.
I'm not. But I got to be honest with you. I've grown a man. The fact that they're still doing a
stick. The fact that they're still doing a stick sedan that is that fast and that fun. I
guarantee you 98% of the people in the comments are driving modded E9 X's with mismatched wheels
and a long-color hood and they've never been in a G80. The G80 is a seriously excellent car still.
What BMW does great is build six cylinders, little cars that are possible and manual and they
still do it and it is still great. And I get that it's ugly, but it is not all that big yet.
If we'd like for the E39 M5 size, we got to like the G80 M3 size and it is a fun, seriously fun
car to drive. I get that it's ugly, but not every look car is attractive. I don't disagree with
that. It's a hard sell over the rest of the lineage, but it's a great car.
It's a great car, wireless car, but it's going to be considered an icon. The E46
and the E38 icons for a reason. In 25 years, everyone's going to say it. I don't disagree if
everyone I love that car. I love that car. We live right now. Yeah, but I can see where this is
going. You know, we've said next one will be a plug-in, the next one will be an automatic,
then they're going to go electric. They're going to get even uglier. And in 25 years,
people are going to look back at the G80, the last manual, the last six cylinder and say,
just like they do with the Carriage GT and the 4 GT and the RS4 and all those cars,
all those cars in that era, that was the end. We didn't know it at the time. We hated some of
those cars at the time. Now we love them. That's going to be the G80. You're acting like
the other car still exists. It's more powerful. It's more fun. Honestly, it's still
incredibly fun to throw around. It's faster than all these other cars around a race track.
So it handles great too. And it's a modern car. There's a thing about you, Ruka,
it's a lot of tension. But another thing about you is you say this stuff about the car,
then you drive one of the elements, you're like, you know, this is actually back. We need to do
the other cars. We need to do a challenge. We drive all of them back to back to back and then to
start. I've driven all these cars pretty extensively over time. I know. Like you've
been seriously pretty extensively. I mean, I got to go G80 for what's after G80, E30. Yeah,
then E46, then it's US only. Yeah. Okay. E92, E36, and F80. Poor F80. What did the F80 ever do?
It is great. F80 is an awesome car. It just represented the beginning of a large
car, just a better. And the G80 is a better F80. Like ultimately, I think that the F80 is actually
one of the best looking M3s. I have with it is that it is pre-santised and there is no way to make
that car sound good. It sounds awful. Okay. That's a little crazy. I know everybody's going to
hate G80, but I promise you, come back to this pod in 20 years. We'll both have them. Long gone.
And no, but I promise you, I can see this going. The cars that people hate are the ones that
become desirable later. And the fact that this is the end of the line, we will look back on this and
say the cars are all old now, but at least the G80 is the newest, the fastest that ever got what
BMW did so well. I don't disagree, but we see which direction is going and it makes me appreciate
the older stuff more. Maybe, but the problem with the older stuff is it's unreliable, it's slow,
and in the case of the F40. No, no, the only reason the new stuff is not real, because it's not old yet.
Give it time. It'll have problem. Okay. That's our last question. The podcast is over.
