My name is Warren.
I'm Lane.
And I'm looking at the questions because I hadn't had a chance to see him today.
Art.
It's the worst name ever.
Oh man, is it at your school art?
I'm sure you got a bunch of like, you know, Phoenix's and Harlins and, you know.
All the crazy names?
Yeah, I'm just trying to think of like, you know, there's no just Steve.
There's no, I mean, I have a Tom's or Brian's or Jake's anymore.
Is there a Michael in the mix?
There's a Michael.
There's a George.
There's a few.
I mean, if I'd say George 40%, like 40% like pretty typical traditional names
and then and then 60 is very.
Yeah, very creative, which I'm not going to call those out, Lee, but Zonker.
There's a kid in Andrew's class.
Hopefully they're not a listener, but his name is Rico.
That's already pretty sweet, but it's spelled R E E K O.
Whoa.
Whoa.
Damn.
Well, I guess that's better than W R.
I guess W R E A K O.
Rico.
So I'm just trying to find out right now.
Like I recently heard just as since we're on this name topic, some names
for the Ineos Grenadier trims.
Have you guys heard these names?
Oh, no, dude.
And I had to pull it up because yeah, they're they're pretty ridiculous.
But I mean, you know, like the Grenadier quarter master, you know,
like what is that?
Okay.
Yeah, that's like a horse term.
I am out and quarter horse.
Yeah, but it kind of sounds like something you would see in a truck from like
those sixties, you know, it's a new Silverado quarter master.
Oh, yeah.
Just similar to the Lariat, which is the quarter master edition.
Oh, Larry odd Larry odd.
I'm a lariat guy personally.
Well, I was going to ask you guys, what do you think about the Ineos Grenadiers
headlights?
Like is there a retro fit where you can go vintage and just really kind of
completely transform that front end because they have the stupid ass LED
headlights with all the it's like blacked out and I'm sure you could dude.
I don't know.
Like that's it just modern cars are such a pain in the ass though,
because a lot of times you have to like program stuff like that, right?
Like this now like your it's a gnarly can of worms just to change some headlights.
Yeah, very true.
Yeah.
And there's ballasts and and like controllers that are linked up to other parts
of the car and yeah, you're right.
It could be a major pain in the ass.
Yeah, it's unfortunate.
I, you know, we always say that there's there's a few things in cars, wheels
and headlights that will ruin it immediately.
I mean, just especially as art was saying on the last podcast that those are
the eyes of the eyes, dude.
Those are the eyes of the car.
I don't know what the eyes of the car.
That's right.
And the wheels are the ankles of the car shoes.
Everybody knows that.
That's true.
Is this tires or tires?
It's all one thing, man.
Well, yeah, wheels and tires.
Yeah.
The Zapatos.
Yeah.
Um, yeah, I remember as a kid, like thinking through that entire like like
anthropomorphization of what of a car and it's like the the hoses are the
the intestines are like, but then but then I was like, I remember having the
conversation with myself in the back seat of my mom's car and I'm like, no,
technically that would be the headers in the exhaust because they're they're
like, I don't want to know what the the muffler is in the exhaust.
You know what the muffler is, dude?
Ah, come on, man.
You know, I guess the grill is the mouth.
The intake is the throat.
All right.
It's the engine, the heart or the transmission.
Oh, now you're really talking here.
Transmission almost feels like muscles.
Which one's the brain?
Is the brain the ECU and all the shit that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Of course.
All right.
And then those old cars are dumb as fuck because they don't have a brain.
That's true.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They just have it's like a jellyfish.
They just somehow work.
I don't know.
Dude, jellyfish are pretty sweet.
Yeah.
I don't I don't get jellyfish are a bit of a mystery.
Wouldn't you say?
They're a bit of a mystery.
I mean, so are viruses.
Viruses are gnarly.
I mean, they're like they're like a little program and they're just a tiny bit of protein
and they somehow know how to reproduce and that's their whole program is just
making more of themselves and they can go dormant for fucking years and then come back
like dude viruses are gnarly.
Viruses are gnarly.
I think that's very little.
They're little bitches.
Have you thought anymore about my comment as a wombat pet owner?
Yeah.
Any any change of heart?
I mean, I said I was down.
I just like had some alternatives.
You know, like, I mean, I thought of like like a miniature polar bear was cooler,
but you know, I mean, yeah.
Well, if you're like genetically modifying stuff to be cool.
The other night I was letting the cats out of the bag and on my doorstep was a large
salamander.
Whoa.
At night.
I thought you're going to say a wombat.
Dude.
Out of the blue.
I wish but a big big guy like as big as my hand salamander.
Nice.
It was very cool and I hollered at Andrew to come check it out and then I released it
into a bush.
I don't know how it did, but into a but did you just go raw dog or did you get it with
a plastic bag or I couldn't I want raw dog.
I wanted to get my hand wet.
They say you're supposed to get your hand wet before you handle such creatures, but
I didn't have time because the cats were like dry dogs.
I went dry dog salamander, which is not a great place to find yourself, but it's worse
things have happened.
My cats were hanging out with a raccoon on my back upstairs balcony.
Chill.
They smoke smoking or what were they doing?
They were just kicking it.
Playing dice.
Yeah, dude.
Oh, damn.
I mean, are they, do you think you got a third pet here?
Is this a he came?
This is a couple of weeks ago or a month ago.
He came back.
It was like three or four nights in one week and then we haven't seen him since.
She probably found another, another cat.
I think she might have been like pregnant or something.
She was like kind of hanging out under this little like really cats hang out.
Yeah.
But how'd she get up there?
I don't know.
They're pretty ferocious sometimes with the cats.
Dude, they're ferocious with humans.
I've got them stepped.
I've got them stepped to me before.
I mean, they stand their ground.
Yeah.
I mean, they're doing their own thing.
You're in their business.
Right.
So yeah, raccoons are sick.
I mean, they're pretty rad looking.
I don't know.
I'm not going to say pretty.
They're kind of baller.
They're baller.
I mean, you get domesticating animals.
Huh?
I've seen some raccoons.
I think the other ferocious, but like if you're cool with them, they're just your
homie, you know, so it's just the homie, dude.
Yeah.
If you're cool with them there, that's all it takes.
Well, they got to consider you cool to be around.
I guess.
For sure, dude.
Oh, for sure, bro.
Should we answer questions here?
Actually, I think before I do, I had a little driving experience.
It was kind of fun.
Oh, kind of.
I drove.
Well, it was, it wasn't like I drove faster thing, but it was a cool experience.
I drove a 56 speedster.
Oh, sweet.
I saw it.
I've never driven a 56 speedster from the real speedster, dude.
Nice.
56 ivory over red.
Very nice.
Kind of a beautiful color color combo, right?
Very nice.
The cars was restored probably in the nineties or something like that.
So like a really nice car and dude, my first impression was like, Oh, this is
just like a really good car.
Like it does car things really well.
As opposed to like, you would think, you know, a lot of these 50s, 60s, 70s cars you drive
or like rattly pieces of shit.
This thing was like so solid dude and the steering was nice.
Like it just hadn't like driving and I'm like, Oh, I could see why people race these.
Right.
Or like just drive them all the time or drive them all the time everywhere or drive and drive
them aggressively.
I could see like going up in the canyons.
It wasn't a lot of times you drive this older stuff.
You're like, yeah, this is a cruiser and this was a total cruiser and like it was easy
to just cruise down the west cliff and I could see going to the store in it.
And yeah, it's a 1956 car dude.
It's just like so you're saying you don't have to be like sawing at the wheel just to
go straight and like you actually know where the gears are and like the brakes work.
Dude, the brakes were so good.
Like everything was so good.
It wasn't, yeah, they're not like locking up on you.
It's like just driving normal like everything.
It was just a good car dude.
It was kind of amazing that they built that thing.
I mean, how many years ago was that now?
I mean, yeah, 70 70 year old car.
Can you imagine the difference between jumping out of that and getting into a Corvette dude?
Oh my God.
I mean, we're just sitting just driving them and at valet speeds like we have as you just
can't even, it's just not really a car you'd want to be in a lot.
Yeah.
I wonder what the hustle it was between them.
I mean, I know that's we're talking that's build quality and materials, but there's also
what you're talking about ergonomics, which is a whole other thing.
I bet they were close.
I bet they were very close back in the day because this is pre Porsche being a very, you
know, this is before they were expensive cars, which started happening in the 70s and 80s.
Yeah.
I bet they were pretty close.
But you know, contemporary is that you would cross shop potentially and yeah, you know,
want top down experience and all that.
And you see all the racetracks and so Cal and stuff like that.
This one had up.
It had like an upgraded gear set where the transmission had longer gears and I would
say to its detriment really for like what I was doing, you know, maybe like it's one
of those things they put like highway gears in or something.
Which is probably great.
If you're going places on the highway, it depends really.
But like I would love it if it had because actually the power was pretty decent because
the car is way nothing to totally and it made good power.
It's like linear and everything, but the gearing was a little long.
So like you kind of rev up first, go to second and then you're kind of like bogging.
Yeah.
You know, yeah, you need some.
You need a little bit of speed there.
Yeah.
That's cool.
What a beautiful car.
Yeah.
That's a classic.
That's definitely great.
Yeah.
And I was so impressed.
I was just impressed with everything like closing the door.
I mean, it's convertible too.
And you close the doors because a great door close, you know, a nice solid one
thunk.
There's no rattles or creeks.
It was just like it was comfortable to sit in and drive.
It was like everything was just so good, but it's so small too.
Yeah.
Easy to get in out of.
How would you, how big are the differences between that and a really nice beetle?
I mean, power wise, like a stock for stock.
A beetle is so slow.
I know they are so slow, right?
Like this is, but it's kind of that you got to row through the gears.
You got to get it.
I'm thinking one that's a little bit more dial.
I don't think I've driven like a full.
I haven't driven.
I can't remember the last or if I've ever driven a really dialed like perfect
beetle.
Yeah.
But like my beetle, the beetle I had a year or two ago was like pretty good
and it drove great, but it had like no power at all.
The shifter was definitely more vague.
That being said, this one's probably rebuilt and like kind of perfect.
Right.
And the steering was not that on, you know, they're pretty similar, I would say, but
this thing's even nicer.
I mean, every, the seating position is better.
Obviously this has like the little, those little rad hardback bucket seats.
Yeah.
You know, the stock speedster seats and stuff.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, there's definitely quality differences are pretty great.
Oh, for sure.
It's just a similar experience in a lot of ways.
Yeah.
Convertible, but this felt like I said, it was like a sports car.
You could like, you're like, oh, this is a sport.
Like I wanted to go take it up in the mountains.
Right.
Like I can see ripping, especially stock for stock.
Right.
I mean, even if you had a impeccable like pristine 56 bug, like it's just like it's
that's not a performance car.
Right.
It was like the everyday driver like, you know, thing wet.
I mean, in terms of its tightness and its build quality, pretty, pretty,
maybe comparable pretty good, but like then also, you know, just as you said,
right, you can see why people race these.
Like that car is like beefed up in all the right ways for performance driving.
Right.
And that's what it was from day one and like it has like a bonded body to the,
to the chassis and like all of these little details or everything's beefed up
for performance driving.
So you're going to see, I imagine that as a six, maybe a five,
10th experience, not a huge difference, but as soon as you start pushing it,
like that's where it may, it changes dramatically.
Right.
And, and I think that's where Beatles like old bugs really far fall apart isn't
the way their suspension setup is and stuff, the way they hop and they do kind
of weird stuff and tons of roll.
And this thing just felt like it felt modern, modern in so many ways.
Which is like, that was kind of the most impressive thing where I've driven
all of the American cars, you know, from the fifties, like 57 Chevy's and stuff
like that.
And you're like, you know, our friend has a 57 Chevy that I've driven a little bit
and he has like upgraded brakes and all this stuff.
And I'm like, it's still like the worst brakes ever where this thing is like,
like cars were stopping and I was just like going at a normal pace, driving like
I normally drive and the thing was great.
It was very impressive.
Speaking of similar cars.
Did you see that Carmen Gia build that was at the national Roadster show or the
one that just happened?
Really awesome.
It's, it's called the Karma.
Okay.
You know, they always have to have a name.
So I sent it to Dante because that's his daughter's name obviously.
Check it out.
It's a, it's very tasteful yet modern.
You know, of course there's going to be things that I would change or modify,
but a very impressive build.
Like the nicest or the most interesting Carmen Gia I've seen in a while to that,
like, you know, Roadster standard where you're, you're getting into like very
everything's customized.
And it's sort of like what we talk about when we're like,
singularize this,
singularize that, you know, this is a not in that like motor sport vein per se,
but very cool, very analog.
Interesting.
Is it the, it's like a like a pale green.
It's like a kind of like a moss green.
Okay.
I think I'm looking at it.
Yeah.
It looks pretty cool, but it's the Alice Lonecker Memorial Award.
Yeah.
I think that's it.
Yeah.
And it is at the Grand National Roadster show.
Yep.
That's where Joe just was, right?
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
They had a couple of cards too.
So, you know, you might love me a Roadster show.
Great people.
I love what the history, the people, the quality of the work that they do,
all of that, not,
I'm detecting a, but not negating any of that, but fuck those in the places that
they hold them make me feel so uncomfortable.
Like that shitty ass lighting and like the old ass dated building.
It's just, uh, it's just convention centers.
I'm just looking at it right now and like, man, I know that this is the easiest
place to put on a show if you want to be indoors,
especially if you have weather to deal with, but yeah, this time of year, dude,
it just looks so bad and like, I mean, I don't know.
It's just, it makes me uncomfortable as a person who puts shows on for a living.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.
Where was this show?
Do you know what's that?
Sorry?
Where was the show?
I don't know.
Let's see.
Where would it be?
More about that.
I forgot while you're looking that up.
I did two project car updates both related to audio.
Not very exciting, but you know, some people follow this audio.
Dude, you've, you've had a speaker saga.
I'm kind of enthralled.
Oh yeah.
This, this doesn't even cover the M three.
M three is still TBD because I don't know what the hell to do with that stupid thing.
But, um, I got that continental stereo for the van again and had it installed.
