Hello, Andrew.
And hello, everyone else who's joined us
nice and early for this evening.
Thanks very much.
All right.
Well, gents, as I said, and ladies now,
I should say ladies and gents, lots to chat about as always,
but a bit of a trigger warning this evening,
we are going to be quite Tesla heavy
as we kick off the show tonight.
So just some Tesla content coming up.
So yes, let's kick off firstly with some news, of course.
You might have heard this week that the Tesla Model Y,
not that one, this one, the Tesla Model Y,
the new one has been named the 2026 drive car of the year.
So I'm sure we all four of us have driven the Tesla Model Y,
the new one, I'm sure.
So gents and ladies, I guess, what do we think?
Do we think this is warranted?
Is this the car of the year that we drive?
Start with you, Joy.
What do you reckon?
Starting with me?
Yes, starting with you.
Ladies first.
All right.
Well, I think in our wrap up last year,
we gave this both runner up.
So it actually appeared in,
I think it's the only car that appeared in both of our
sort of like, yeah, favorite car of the year.
So I think for that reason,
if it wasn't for all the politics surrounding it,
I think it would be a lot more popular.
Because if you just look at the car
and just think about the car and how it is,
it's a very good all round the car.
There's not a lot to complain about.
And it's the only one that currently has like,
the ability to drive by itself on Australian roads anyway.
So I think for that reason alone,
and the performance one is really fun.
I don't think this,
that's probably not the performance one,
this one that won car of the year isn't.
Yeah, I think this is the real drive.
I'm not wrong.
Outstanding value will package the drive text.
Yeah, no, I agree with Joy.
But I think it's probably for the midsize SUVs
and just overall EVs in general, certainly it's up there.
It's got features that no other car has,
obviously with the full self-driving.
We're about to discuss the fact that
GROC is coming as well, our companion.
Someone said they've got it.
They've got, oh, yeah, hang on.
They've got the GROC.
Oh, good, good, we'll chat about GROC very shortly.
But yeah, I think this is probably on the face of it.
And obviously these awards are based on 2025.
I think for 2025,
this was probably the standout car of the year,
in my opinion, I think.
I think the Zika 7X came very close.
That got the best car under $60,000, I believe,
so they must have been liberated of those two.
That was your favorite.
That was my favorite.
And my favorite is the X-Pen,
because I feel like if you want to drive
like a non-aggressive looking robot,
then that's the one.
Yeah, so I think that's probably well deserved.
Results up with you, what do you reckon?
Is that your pick as well for last year's car?
Well, it depends on who's paying.
So whichever company wants to,
which is, you know, at times,
that's how these awards are selected.
You know, the drive team.
It's funny, I think I picked up one of the cars,
one of the Zikas from Calder Park,
where Drive was doing a lot of that,
their massive shootout of selecting their car of the year.
So they did have dozens of models there.
So they were comparing, you know, anything and everything.
And yeah, I mean, if you think about sort of the money
that you're paying, that entry-level car,
the entry-level Model Y, the rear-wheel drive,
they've done quite a few changes to it.
One of the biggest things I found when driving it up,
whatever that national park is south of Sydney,
you know, climbing up the mountains,
it just kept pulling, or just for a rear-wheel drive.
So I think they've done quite a bit of work
to the way, I guess, it delivers power.
And it felt like a dual-motor car when it wasn't.
So then all the other things that Tesla's so good at.
Yeah, I think it deserves it.
In terms of the Zika 7X would probably be the runner-up
in, you know, most categories.
And we have to know that, you know,
the Model Y was there for most of the year.
Zika 7X, I think, official pricing announcement
was sort of in August.
And then, you know, only a couple of months at the end of the year
that they actually had stock or cars in the country.
So, yeah, really, really good car, the Model Y.
Roland?
I agree. 7X and the Model Y definitely up there.
I think, for me, personally, it comes down to
what you want in a car.
The only downside, honestly, that I can see,
parked aside the politics for the Model Y is
there are so many on the road.
Like, if you've always had a car that's unique,
you're not going to have one.
Forget that.
Yeah, forget it. That's right.
You know, you've seen, I'm sure everyone's seen videos
of people putting on social media,
or I had someone try to open my car,
but come on, it's just a Model Y
and same with, like, other five next to them.
Someone's genuinely just opened the wrong car.
So, I think from, but as a package, as you've all said,
it's like $65,000 for what you get.
It's absolutely amazing.
And again, personal opinion for me,
I'm so, I always reverse into all spots,
so I like a car with a decent size front
to put my backpack for work and groceries and everything.
And again, it's subjective, but yeah.
Very good.
Yeah, well said, Roland and Riz.
I agree with you both on all fronts.
But you're right, Riz, the 7X only sort of came
to light at the end of last year.
So, I think, you know, I think the gap is definitely closing
between Model Y and all the other cars on the road.
7X, X-plane G6, BY to C-line 7,
got some newer sort of mid-size SUVs coming,
as well as the smaller SUVs, too.
They're looking good.
So, yeah, I think 26 could be looking very tight.
Just to say something, Dom,
when they say car of the year,
they mean all cars, not just,
it's like over petrol cars as well.
I think so, yeah.
It's everything.
Everything, yeah.
So, I mean, that's already a win in my books.
It's an electric car that won.
I mean, I personally feel that I don't think
getting petrol cars should ever win a car of the year anymore,
but obviously I'm very biased, so.
So, what do we reckon?
2026, BYD out of 1?
Gile X2, IONT, 5-fly.
Bring on the small cars, right?
Yes, indeed.
Well, congratulations to the Tesla team.
They've done very well with the selling of this car.
You know, you've got cars that start each month,
and it's certainly been near the top
very close to month on month.
I think they sold about 22,000 of them.
Kudos to C-line 7.
They did very well,
but we also have to know that, you know,
C-line 7, given quite a few months
in the second half of the year,
there were significant discounts,
like 3, 4 grand off the premium model
for quite a bit of that second half as well.
So, BYD, of course, playing in that volume game,
and Tesla had an interesting second half
with, you know, FSD, multiple new models.
If you can call them, you know, Model Y,
they really start to kick off in long range,
and then you have the performance
come sort of near the end of the year.
And yes, I think 30-year in a row
was the best-selling car in the world,
so that also says something.
Yeah, I think FSD definitely highlighted the Model Y,
for sure, or at least the Tesla brand for 2025,
I think, certainly seeing that market
which is good, which is really good.
Yeah, ICES 320th Century, yeah, it's so true.
Andrew, I totally agree with that.
And yeah, interesting to see Fed members on C-line 7.
I mean, already for January, C-line 7 outsold
Model Y and every other car, basically,
in the EV space anyway.
Yeah, I agree, Xander, as Roland said,
Model Y everywhere, it's so true.
But C-line 7 is kind of everywhere too.
I'm seeing that a lot in our neck of the woods.
It's becoming quite common too.
Sim is saying, I use Glock already
in my BYD through car linkage.
Ooh, okay, that's true, go through that way.
Congratulations, Kay, getting his car of the year next week.
Well done.
Oh, there we go, locking in the Seeker 7
extra replaced the Model Y this year.
Well done, good times.
Yeah, Paul, I think you have P-Dogs,
you're not alone.
A lot of people are sick of hearing about Tesla,
so it's not everyone's company, of course.
But you know, we have mentioned politics aside,
looking at the car objectively,
I think it is a very good buy still.
And look at this, yes, three ladies present,
there you go, Joy, you've got yourself,
at least Pauline and JJ Nettie, good.
And Sonecro, I think Zika is better.
It's a very tight race at the moment.
Look, apparently one of our vids was shown in the Sky News,
in the bashing segment,
I have to look at that, maybe later on.
I thought the Sky News changed their name,
it's not News 24 now, re-badging themselves.
I don't know.
I thought it was Sky News anyway, I don't know.
I thought it would be one Sky News,
one Nation and Sky News combined.
Nice race.
We are one, but we are many.
And yes, for me, my car of the year is Xiaomi U7,
yes, yes, good choice, John, agree,
it's a flush looking one.
Yes, Tesla have upped the PR game,
haven't they released this year?
I think they've done well.
It's unusual for Tesla.
So maybe that's made the difference.
All right, stick with us for more Tesla news,
again, trigger warning for those of you who are triggered by Tesla,
it is quite Tesla heavy for the first half of the show.
We've kind of mentioned GROC already,
another thing that Tesla is trying to get ahead of the game with,
so FSD and now GROC coming to Tesla vehicles for Australia
and New Zealand, but those of you who don't know GROC,
it's an AI chatbot basically, you can use on X
and some cars I think in the US have GROC,
so good to see us getting it too.
Hardware 3 vehicles apparently rolling out first
and then Hardware 4 later on.
So someone in the chats at the head,
Hardware 3 already, GROC in the Hardware 3,
which is a nice win for those Hardware 3 owners
who didn't get FSD of course,
so this is a nice balancing of the books.
Not all yet, sorry.
Yeah, not all because it's those with the AMD infotainment unit.
So those of us that still run Intel inside,
maybe we'll get it on the next round after Hardware 4,
4.5, 5 and Hardware 2 cars as well.
Sorry, I know you enter your classic cars,
you got the Spectre, you got the performance model 3
from 2019 I know, also 2020, 2021.
You're right, so to be eligible for GROC,
you need an empty processor as there is
the vehicle software version 2025.26 or later
and either premium connectivity or Wi-Fi.
I think premium connectivity is now $13,
is that right Roland?
$14.
$14.
I think it's $14.99 or something, yeah.
Yeah, that has gone up in price.
Is that a reason to get GROC Roland?
What do you reckon?
Are those of you who don't subscribe to premium,
but is GROC a reason to now?
Ask me next week, mine's finished updating
just like 20 minutes ago,
so I'll have to try it later or tomorrow.
But it's a shame because the Model X,
the Legacy X gets nothing.
Please, I've got no sympathy for you.
You've got a 2015 Tesla Model S.
We're the same, bro.
We're the same, bro, got nothing.
I'm going to donate to the powerhouse
because you're absurd.
It's like, it's just like a classic car now.
I've got to join Riz, but in Riz as well.
That's right, collection.
I'll jump you back to your auto.
Yes.
No, let's just say, Roland, quickly.
Adam's got GROC on Hardware 3, which is good.
Sorry, please.
I was going to say, look, right now,
it might not be, or people might not see the value
because they specifically say in the fine print
that it's just to help with the navigation
and all of the usual voice discussions don't.
But I think in the future,
if it's something you care about,
then potentially the work keeps better.
I mean, I'm sure that at this point in time
that they will integrate it into everything within the car,
because if you've used the Tesla system,
sometimes the voice assistant is just not as amazing
as what it could be.
So it's a hidden miss.
So I presume that GROC will do a better job in the future.
Look, I think we'd all be lying if we said
we didn't use any AI in our lives, right?
AI is being used to help pretty much everyone, right?
I'm going to first admit that.
I mean, how do you find your voice assistant in your X-Pane?
You use it quite a lot, don't you?
It's pretty good.
There's one particular song that I play every morning
after school drop-off,
because I just like hearing the same song over and over again.
It probably works 19 out of 20 times.
So that's actually pretty good considering my accent.
I suppose it can actually understand.
What is the song that you're listening to every day?
Oh, what is the joint?
Yes.
What's your recommendation?
Something about freedom?
No.
After the COVID drop-off?
I didn't think that.
Yeah.
No.
I'm too embarrassed to say it.
Not sponsored by them, so we won't say it.
Yeah, that's true.
I have been to their concert.
It was in Singapore last year.
So from then, you can probably work out what it is.
Leave in the comments.
What do you think this is?
What do you think this is?
Yeah.
But I actually use the voice in the X-Pane.
And if it wasn't for the X-Version of the day,
I actually got one.
You're probably quite handy.
Because she can go around and say, hey, X-Pane,
follow your X-Pane.
What else do you think?
Yeah.
I think we've got some sound issues.
It's partially coming through.
It's coming in and out.
So I guess I think Tom will return.
Tom and Joy will return.
Do a restart.
That's all right.
So yeah, is there a song that you listen to, Roland?
Every day when I drop off the kids, no.
I'm rushing back to work.
There's no time for songs.
That's exactly right.
You've got to use only 400 kilowatts of that model.
Dual mode out to get home quick, ready for meetings.
That's exactly right.
You're working from home.
That's what you've got to look forward to.
You get the fast car to go for the drop-offs.
That's it.
Yeah.
So I think going back to sort of the grok side of things,
you're right, Roland.
I think it will get better with time.
I would like to see much more functionality than what's there.
Tom, do you want to have a go?
Yeah.
How are we now?
Are we better?
Still not good.
OK.
That's nice.
Apologies again.
OK.
We have to get Grok to help us out with the sound issues next time.
It just doesn't like women speaking.
I can be a bit sexist and possibly racist as well, right?
Let's see how Grok goes with that pushing right along.
So let's keep going with some more Tesla news.
So Roland, as usual, King of ADRs.
We wondered, Roland, last week when you were away,
whether you actually do work for ADR.
You said this before.
Secret side job.
In fact, to the point where I think some of the biggest Tesla
influencers in the world picked up on your post, I believe.
What's his name?
The big dude in the US.
Forget it now.
He picked up your...
Shaquille?
Shaquille?
No, not physically big.
It's just big, my name is.
Someone can pick.
It is big and tall.
Anyway, let's keep going.
Someone has told some comments.
So there we go.
Model YL, which is the six-seater Model Y,
Roland has spotted, is approved for Australia.
Take us through this.
So you've got one variant.
It's got towing.
So I know it's slightly small, but it's...
With the brake trailers, 1,588,
and you've got 750 non-braked trailers.
So I think that's fairly decent.
It's got unique wheels.
Only one spectral motor, 378 kilowatts off the top of my head.
And yeah, that's pretty much it.
Couldn't see anything in terms of colors, anything else.
But it seems like everything else between all of the other
long-range all-wheel drive vehicles were exactly the same.
So it's pretty much the same as the long-range all-wheel drive
that you can get right now,
with exception slightly longer, the dual motor,
and obviously the seating difference
in terms of the configuration.
Okay, so that's good.
Thanks, Roland.
We were speculating last year whether this would actually arrive
in Australia, but it looks like it will be here.
So 4.969 meters.
So that is almost 5 meters.
It's 17.7 mill longer than...
Oh, 70 meters.
Sorry, 17.7 centimeters longer than the current one.
And I was looking at the Ioniq 9.
So it's a little bit shorter than the Ioniq 9 6-seater.
And this is a shot of Tech AU.
He's just put some pics of the interior.
I assume these are just press pics.
So the second row will have captains, chairs like that,
which I assume these handles will go up and down,
these rest, sorry.
So easier to get in and out, which is great.
It's nothing worse than trying to claw your way back
into that third row.
It's not pleasant.
And there you go, white and black interior.
I personally go for the white.
It looks nice.
And the front looks like in the old Tesla Model Y.
That's thousands of them on the road at the moment,
as we said earlier.
But third row doesn't look too bad in those photos,
I gotta say.
But of course, we have to actually test these out.
I've never been honestly super comfortable
in any third row because you've been on about you.
It's always a bit of a squish at the back there.
But having said that, the Ioniq 9 I quite enjoyed.
The time I did to sit in the back there.
It's my favorite so far.
I think because of the shape of the Ioniq 9,
it felt bigger because it's kind of more square at the back.
Whereas obviously the Model Y
has more arrow up the back or more of a fast back.
So curious to see how this will go.
Rizzi, did you get to sit?
No, of course not.
This hasn't been out yet really.
Last time you were in China, did you see this at all?
Yeah, I sat in one in Guangzhou in the second row.
And there those little armrest things are retractable.
They've got a button as well as you can do that
on the screen as well.
On the inside, of course, now that it doesn't matter.
At the time I was sitting in the car,
it had a big screen at the front,
which was a 16 inch screen instead of the 15.4 inch,
but they're all the same now.
And it is pretty comfortable.
I mean, also it's got adaptive suspension as well,
which is found in the Model Y performance as well.
This was actually the first car to have
that adaptive suspension system in a Model Y.
And yeah, they're very, very popular.
In the showrooms that I sort of walk past,
a lot of people were interested in that.
And I think the rumors were in the first week
that it was launched, I think back in August,
the first two days they got 40,000 orders.
So, you know, there is a bit of demand for six-seaters.
And, you know, I think it will be the most affordable
six-seater vehicle when it eventually lands.
I would suspect later half of the second quarter.
Yeah, I'm curious with the pricing too,
because as you said, the six-seaters are not cheap
at the moment, pretty much close to 100K,
even for the Kia EV9.
So, if they could drop this to 80, 80, 90,
I mean, that would be very, very good.
You know, six-seaters and seven-seaters are very popular
in Asia and China, not so much here in Australia.
I think they still make up last time I checked,
five to 10% of the market, not much at all.
So, very curious to see.
Roland, is your Model X a six-seater?
Seven.
So, it's two at the front, then the bench seating of three,
and then two at the back.
So, it's genuinely a heavy seat.
So, I'll be honest, if I'm on a slope,
I'm using my entire body weight to push the seats
to get to the third row.
Right.
It's genuinely hard.
So, something like this for people
that want that easy access to the third row
is going to be great.
Yeah.
Correct.
Yeah.
And as Tasby Evie said, Jack referred to Jack
from Everything Electric.
He's quite tall.
Anyone tall will have to break the glass out in the back
to fit the head in the rear seat.
Yeah.
I mean, it's obviously not for tall people that third row.
I assume it's for elderly, for kids,
you know, who want to join in road trips or whatever,
just for your daily commute.
So, yeah.
Anyway, I think it's good to have more options
in that six to seven seat market.
Here's a good question.
Is there anyone still doing the Evie wave?
I don't know.
I sort of gave that off pretty much as soon as COVID came around.
I think there's too many Evies now.
I used to wave to other Teslas on the road back in the day,
but I don't know.
I don't really know at all now.
I got one the other day.
Did you?
In the next thing.
Yeah, yeah.
Fellow X-Ping.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right.
Maybe if it was.
It was actually, no, it was, I put the finger up,
like not the finger is in like like this.
Apology.
Okay.
If you are listening to the podcast,
let me explain that was my index finger going up
on the steering wheel.
I was not giving someone the finger.
And then they did the knot of recognition.
Recognition?
Yeah.
I do give a, sorry.
Was it a knot off?
When is the new G6 coming?
That's a sensitive topic at the moment, isn't it?
Where is the new G6?
No, if it's a unique, more unique Evie,
I'd definitely give it a longer look like that,
but not a wave, I think.
Yes.
But actually we are the ones who get the looks obviously
because we take the press cars around.
So get the unusual vehicles, which is always good.
Yeah.
Quave had not seen another atto two in the while.
I think I saw, I've seen a couple now.
I've seen a couple atto ones as well,
actually in the wild in Sydney.
So it's time to appear.
It's the sea lion seven meter everywhere.
Yes.
Yeah.
I've just seen sea lion sevens.
Haven't seen the others.
No.
Definitely.
Beaching up on the roads for sure.
Sea lion sevens.
You're still loving the G6.
Yeah.
And I actually squeal with delight when I see another one
on the road, like an orange one,
because I just think they look just so adorable.
Yeah.
It brings a smile to my face all the time
and it drives reasonably well.
Like what's there to complain about?
I personally think it's got the best checkout of all the cars
and that's kind of like my number one priority.
Very good.
JJ Nessie says,
I did an insane wave when I saw another blue BYD
coming towards me on the Nullable.
I mean, I would definitely wave on the Nullable.
Seeing another car on the Nullable.
That's right.
Quite an effort.
Anybody driven the sea lion eight, seven seater,
the plug-in hybrid, yes.
Yeah.
You have risk?
Yep.
What do you reckon?
Pretty good.
I want to see the electric version of that.
I think there's only one car that is likely going to do
fairly well, which is six or seven seater in full electric.
That'll be the sea lion eight.
It's very comfortable.
Like most things, what people like about BYDs,
they're really, really good sort of well put together.
It's got all the tech that you can ask for.
Of course, being a plug-in hybrid,
you're sort of doing what I think it's about 70 or 80 kilometers
of range, which is plenty for most people
if they were still on the fence of whether to go fully electric.
But for those with bigger families,
I think it's a really, really good plushie option.
Correct me if I'm not wrong, but I think in China
to be eligible for a green plate,
your plug-in hybrid must have 100Ks of range, I think.
Something like that.
So someone can correct me on that rule.
CLTC range, probably.
Yeah.
I was going to say, is that Chinese range?
Don't know.
It's not hard.
Someone can fact check me on that.
Yes.
And yeah, I saw an orange G6 as well the other day.
Yep.
That was pretty impressive.
And I was asking you to point joy at your fellow G6er.
Let them know you made a good choice.
Something like that, maybe.
Now, we know you love luxury cars and classic cars.
I mean, this was spotted in, I think in Melbourne.
I see tram lines.
So were you ducking down to the local dumpling house
to get some Chinese New Year goodies?
I was.
I was.
And it was, you know, it was my friend Gary that spotted me.
And I asked him when he sent me this photo,
he said, really, some outside.
I said, you should have come in for a drink
because he just picked up his Zika 7X.
So, and he also mentioned that apparently he got the wave
as well from others on the road.
And another listener of our podcast as well,
got the Zika 7X wave.
Apparently it's something's going on.
I'm not sure what it is.
You do like a seven or what do you do,
but there's something going on there.
So, yeah, exactly.
Eyes on the road, Ronda.
I saw, I've been seeing a lot of 7Xs too, actually,
which is good.
Were you getting your umbrella service?
Those of you listening to the audio podcast,
this is a specter, a Roswell specter
that we're looking at right now.
Look, I can't say too much.
A friend of mine got some freedom,
Mr. Mockbell recently,
so I had to get a few things done.
And my umbrella servicing was part of it.
I hate to think how much a Roswell specter service
would cost, honestly.
It just makes my eyes water thinking about that.
Perhaps you were on your way to the Outback Riz.
We know you were testing out the densas this week.
Walk us through this post to you.
Yeah, so we went to Flinders Ranges.
I've never been to that part of the country before.
And it was quite cool.
So landed in Adelaide.
They had all the cars lined up at the valet parking,
drove up to, yeah, all the way up through Clare Valley,
I think, all the way up to Wilpina Pounds
in the past the Ranges.
That was the on-road testing.
And then the second day was a bit of off-roading.
I've never done anything like this before.
In terms of this level of off-roading.
Remember Tom, we did some off-roading with the LDV
a couple of years ago?
Yes.
That was like in some sort of a national park.
But this was, yeah, very different and very capable cars.
Like, you know, like I said, I'm not a professional,
you know, four-wheel driver, but there were people like,
this vehicle in this photo is about to go into a ditch.
And the way they, the way they sort of, you know,
navigated across all the terrain,
it was on two wheels at one stage.
And then the car automatically literally hops along.
Yeah, very capable vehicles.
Heavy, they're about three times each,
but very capable in terms of, you know,
for those that really want an off-roading sort of vehicle,
this will do most things that people would expect.
And the amount of luxury that we know,
BYU and Denza usually pack in very capable cars.
I'm excited for what's to come.
There is possibly, I think Roland spotted some electric cars
that are coming from Denza and the ADR stuff,
as well as there's a fully electric Type 7
that has just been launched or about to be launched in China.
I can't wait till they sort of make it.
I want to see what their capabilities are.
A fully electric one of these would be amazing,
but I guess at this stage, this is what we have.
The plug-in hybrid off-roaders are pretty much here.
Mmm, that's great. This is great photos, by the way.
Great to see that you got this experience.
And yeah, I mean, we have been to the Alice,
and the Red Earth is beautiful when you're there.
It's really quite magical.
So I'm glad you got to see that, Riz.
And obviously to drive these cool cars as well.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, as you said,
hopefully we'll get to see some electric versions of these cars.
Yeah, good to see that.
Is it differential locking or differential capabilities?
It has diff locks, yeah.
It has front and rear diff locks.
And yeah, like I said, the amount of things this car can do on its own,
like I said, for an amateur like myself,
you just put it into hill descent mode,
a whole lot of other features that it has that you're just like,
you know, you spend probably three days learning all the features
that it has before you even take it anywhere off-roading.
And then it's just, for myself, I found it very capable.
And those that know more than me,
they were just having a lot of fun with these cars as well off-road.
A bit.
Yeah, so Necro says, the Denza looks like a beast.
Would be great to see a full EV, correct?
I agree. Shades of Canyonero says,
I believe 1600 Denza is delivered in January.
I'm sure Riz will talk us through that soon, perhaps.
But yeah, that's good to see Denza take it off.
And yes, some chat about the Yang Wang U9.
Yes, that Richard Hammond from, what's her show called now?
Not Top Gear.
Drive, drive, drive, drive, drive, drive.
Something like that, yeah.
The same guys, but yeah, good to see Richard Hammond testing it.
No, he did not crush it, thankfully, that's good.
It looked like it was filmed in China,
like on some sort of a track in China, which is pretty cool.
Yeah, I bet it was.
Yeah, having seen that thing jump in the air,
it's pretty amazing, the U9.
Now, speaking of what Roland spotted,
I think we'll chattel this one first.
So this is the Denza D9 spotted in the wild
with not much camo on the road.
So that's, you know, as we can sort of see,
they're testing them here.
That was in Melbourne.
And yeah, I believe there's probably
some sort of an announcement coming up very soon.
Excellent.
Yeah, so this is for electric, isn't it?
It is for electric, yeah.
I remember the joint, I saw this in Hong Kong last year.
What about tours?
They looked quite nice, very luxurious.
So there it is there in the showroom.
I think it was the X-Pen one, Tom,
that in that, at their brand night, I think it was,
there was a showroom underneath the hotel room.
Yep, Denza tried to hijack our night, Denna was.
Yeah, that looks good.
There's not too much of a market year for these big cars
in Australia, but I think that'll change
as we get more multi-generational living.
I reckon that's my pick.
Thank you, Mazda, for clarifying.
So it looks like from 1 Jan 2026 for PHEVs,
the electric only range increased from 43Ks
to at least 100Ks.
Is that for China?
Mazda, if you can clarify for us, that'll be good.
Just quickly on the people-mover side of things,
I was digging through some data the other day,
and apparently Zika sold over 120 009s last year,
which is quite a lot for, you know,
that's over, that's like nearly 10 a month.
That car's like 150K, right?
Yeah, they introduced the front-wheel drive
at the end of the year, a couple of months
before the end of the year, I think it's about 120 or 130.
Yeah.
Yeah, you do see a little bit on the North Shore,
but not a lot, but they look pretty plushy out there.
Pretty comfy.
If you divide that by the number of people
that can be in the car, then it's like a good value.
So let's say 150 divided by 6.
I'll use that the next time I want to buy something like that.
You can see how many people in the car we've passed the price.
That's right, that's good justification, isn't it?
Yeah, not so good for like two C-the-cars,
because the value definitely drops, right?
Yes, looks like Mazur says that is coming from China,
good that the ATV is rolling.
Ministry of Industry and Information Tech,
Ministry of Finance and the State Taxation Administration.
Okay, good.
All right, now a bit more BYD news.
So Denza Z, we've been Denza heavy now,
isn't it, this midsection of the stream?
Electric sports car spotted without camo again.
Ooh, nice.
Now, Roland, you know, we don't know the specs of this car.
It is the one with the big wing.
It's already being tested on Nurburgring.
It's got to have some serious performance.
It's from memory, it's either triple or quad motor
and something ridiculous in terms of power.
I need to look it up, but they were,
I think they were going against,
they were trying to match the Yang Wang,
but in their own other brand Denza.
Yeah, that's right.
So it's not their first electric sports car,
obviously the Yang Long U9 BYD parent,
but there you go, some more shots of it being tested.
It's pretty schnick.
Yes, wouldn't mind being invited to one of those drive days, guys.
This is Skipan.
Looks like there's two variants.
There's one with the big wing, that must be the top spec.
Maybe TriMotor and then possibly there's a dual motor version.
So the red car in one of those photos there
appears to be without the big wing on it.
And yeah, I think it shouldn't be far.
It was first unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show
as a concept last year.
So this year at Beijing, I think we'll see more.
And here it was being tested at the Nurburgring last year.
Yep, yes, amazing.
Yep, PYD, set the keys and goals there with fast production cars.
Just to remind you guys, the U9 Extreme recorded a top speed of 496.22 kph at the Nurburgring.
No, sorry, was it Nurburgring? It was, wasn't it?
Yeah, no, I think it was just facility.
Somewhere in Germany, yep.
It didn't go to 500 because it wasn't certified for a 500 or something.
There was some issue with going to 500.
I believe it was the tires.
The tires weren't rated.
But yeah, the driver records, it could go faster.
And I think the photo in that article is from the Guangzhou Auto Show of that red car.
That one there, that they had the Nurburgring lap in the background as well
because it did go around the Nurburgring in under seven minutes.
And I think that was the car that did that as well.
Because it had like signatures from the drivers and a couple of other things as well.
So we already did put on a bit of a show at the Yangleng stand at Guangzhou.
So hopefully Beijing will be even bigger in a couple of months time.
Yeah, I need someone like Max Verstappen or Lando Norris or someone just to get in that car.
Just do a lap.
That gets more attention.
Yes, it was a tires as Michael said.
Special test track, yep.
It looks like a 4GT that's referring to this one.
The one on the right, yeah.
And yeah, this is a very Roland spec heavy segment as well.
It took a warning.
I'm like, oh, smiles. I'm like, breathe and breathe.
That's good.
And just one more bit of BYD news before we move on.
Here is BYD's MegaWatt flash charger.
And this is not AI.
I believe this is actually getting installed somewhere in China.
T for terribly fast, I believe.
But yeah, see the gantry is with the gun coming down like that
rather than coming up from the side.
Yeah, it's good.
When will we see these guys in Australia?
When, when, when?
Well, they reckon this week they were saying 12 to 18 months.
Some publication covered that, that BYD and Danza are looking at it.
So yeah, hopefully soon.
That'll be nice, right?
Yes, those are dual guns.
Yes, I believe so too.
Coming down like that.
We just need more charges, not necessarily faster.
Just more reliable charges on the highway.
Right, let's keep pushing on.
Just quickly thank our sponsors once again.
That's all our sponsors.
These are our sponsors.
Come on, get these up.
All right, so thank you to Power Shop
and also thank you to Khaledip as well
to Power Australia's Eevee Revolution.
Thank you for sponsoring this show.
And yes, as Tassie said,
would rather see multiple 400 kilowatt sites than a single megawatt.
One on both.
Why not the fast one and a few slower ones at 400 kilowatts?
Why not?
It sends some love down to Victoria as well, of course.
Seeing some Insta's getting advertised online.
Looks like I just saw a comment about that.
I still love that car.
I still think it looks good.
I'll think one on the road.
That's it, just one.
It was earlier this week.
Other than that, I have never seen another one on the road.
I keep seeing the same one go round and round.
I think it's one in our neighbourhood.
Somewhere where I drive a lot, so I think it's the same one.
I do feel that's okay though.
Because you don't want multiple of that car.
It's the opposite of the Model Y, I think,
where it's like, if you get a Model Y
and you see everyone else driving a Model Y,
you kind of think, I've made a good choice
because everyone else thinks the same as me.
So that's a good choice.
But then if you buy an Insta,
you want to look different from everyone else.
It's like going to a party
and both of you are dressed exactly the same.
I feel like you can only have one Insta per neighbourhood
so that you're not bumping into each other.
Just like McDonald's stores, right?
You can't be on anyone else's turf.
Yeah, I don't mind the Insta.
Looks good.
Sneak peek though.
You heard it here first.
Once again on Ludacris Feed.
As you all know, I like small cars
and I got confirmation this week
from a car that is coming in
hopefully June or July
from a Japanese brand
that they are very excited for
to showcase that car as soon as possible
to the Australian audience.
Small car, Japanese, fully electric
is coming.
Insta may have others
coming onto its turf, but yeah,
and to be honest, I don't think that car
because people buy SUVs will sell all that too well
but hey, we'll have options.
That looks very cool.
Is it the Honda Super 1?
They can only be one.
So it is the Super 1.
It is. Let me just remind everyone what it looks like.
That's quite a cute car actually.
Here we go.
Right up Riz's alley.
We've got Rollinspec. This is Rizspec.
This will put a smile on Riz's face.
Well, that will too, but this particular one.
Look at that. That's cute.
Isn't that a little K car?
That looks so cool.
Yeah, that is awesome.
Now the Honda 1, no,
Honda Eid in self very well,
but hopefully this will sell few more
if the price was right obviously.
Yeah, just a list of that $70,000.
You know, definitely not.
No.
You can't get much more K than that really.
That's very cute.
I keep saying Riz, you've got to go to Tokyo one day.
I think you'll be in Tokyo.
Look, you can see my friend there on YouTube.
The future is here and it's super.
Tung from Drive.
He keeps going there and he keeps making me jealous
that hey, I'm at the Tokyo Motor Show.
So yes, Tom and Joy were in Japan recently
and yeah, I'd love to go.
Yeah, you'd love it.
This is a convert to a laptop when you get to work.
Maybe it does, you never know.
I'd be very happy to drive one of those, definitely.
Yeah, indeed.
Oh, the Insta's only and cap four.
Okay, I wonder what I missed out on.
Interesting.
Yeah, Honda not cheap.
No, I don't think it'll be 30,000.
I think it'll be more.
Luckily, you can't fit your family in the incident anyway.
So you don't have to worry about that side of things.
That's true.
But Honda actually have a following already in the Japanese world
in the modifying cars world, the K car world already overseas.
So I think if it does come here,
we already import a lot of those smaller K class vehicles anyway.
So I think actually they have an advantage
if they do enter the market with a K class car.
You have to get one of those Japanese plates, right?
You always see them, little green ones.
They're pretty cool.
So does New South Wales have those Japanese plates?
We do.
We do.
They look awesome.
Because Japan, right?
Because Japan.
Tokyo drift or something.
Drifting, that'd be cool.
Okay, let's keep going.
So all right, guys, we've talked about EVs.
What do we think about this?
I'm going to share this.
This is another trigger warning.
This is a night full of trigger warnings.
This is a diesel trigger warning.
Because this is the very first diesel plug-in hybrid Ducal Mute
coming to Australia in like 2026 from the one in early Cherry.
What do we think about this?
We've got the Shark 6, we've got the Canon Alpha FEV.
This is the Cherry diesel plug-in.
It looks better than the Tasman.
That's not hard.
This will look better than the Ionix 6.
Ionix 6, oh, trigger warning once again.
Trigger warning.
Here we go, let's go.
Yeah, look, as you'd go, it doesn't look too bad, honestly.
It's got a bit of a shark profile from the side.
Like if you look at it, it's got the...
It does.
It's got the photos up.
Yes, it's very angular, like shark.
Cherry knows how to build boxy cars.
Like they've got the iCar brand or iCarware or whatever
they're going to call it because of trademark issues.
J2R, of course, they've got J2, which is the Range Rover
evoke killer electric at half the price.
But this looks cool.
It does look good.
There you go.
Square tray.
Yeah, look, why not?
I'd give it a bash.
Not literally, but I'd take it down.
It was basically legal as pertaining to an EV.
It was.
So it's a definite no for me because it actually made me
physically sick.
I don't like the diesel as well, honestly.
Yes.
Another emotional support vehicle for after the Rams
and Rangers out there.
Yes, it has an EV.
That's one opinion for sure.
Can't still arrange it without anger, I tell my kids.
And yeah, I've actually...
We've seen Kier Tasman's actually on the road.
I've seen a few of those.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They're pretty ugly, I've got to say.
I agree with the reason that front.
I didn't say ugly.
It looks what?
I said I didn't say ugly.
The cherry looks better.
Yeah, true.
Sorry, Tom, I think you've got audio issues.
Audio is cut out, Tom.
Maybe it will come back.
Tom Joy, we can't hear you.
I'm flunked.
So I think I also saw the cherry had a fully electric version
that, not this particular model, but they had a fully
electric version that it's the release in the...
I think it was the Chinese model.
It was either cherry or changan.
So electric youths are starting to become something.
I am noticing a lot of the companies now are just putting
instead of your logo or your badge,
they're putting the entire name.
Yeah.
Well, I guess it's easier for people to read
than, I don't know, the...
I mean, Tesla did them with the latest models, right?
They got rid of the T badge and put an actual Tesla in the back.
Yeah, that's true.
Yep.
Can you hear us now?
Yeah.
Yes.
Yes.
Okay.
I've got to fix that audio during the week.
Yes, Geely Radaro, June, apparently.
That'll be a good one to test.
Cool.
Yeah.
Okay.
Let's move on to something else.
Let's...
Let's do this one.
So, Roland, we're back on with more ADR.
So, the Subaru Trail Speaker,
we've been discussing this the last few weeks,
spotted on your ADR watch.
Just yesterday afternoon.
So, two specs, entry level and a two-ring top spec with bigger wheels.
I think it was 18 and then 20-inch wheels.
So, it's going to be pretty heavy.
You've got good AC charging for the ones that do charge at home,
or just your public AC charging, 22 kilowatts.
The DC is not the fastest, but I think it's still somewhat okay.
Decent power.
It's a permanent all-wheel drive.
So, everyone knows Subaru for their symmetrical all-wheel drive
and their off-roading capabilities.
So, you'll still retain all of that.
And, yeah, they were on their marketing, on their website.
They were bragging about...
Well, not bragging, but there was a big focus area
on the fact that it's got 211 millimeters ground clearance.
Now, I'm not an off-roading person,
but that sounds pretty high to me.
Just a quick one.
The reply to that post.
I agree.
That's wonderful.
I said it was a rugged look, but...
Yeah.
It's like a one-word.
Yeah.
It looks like when you've been in an accident
because you didn't take the corner correctly or something,
and then they've had to replace the panel with a different color.
Temporary panel, yeah.
You said it looked like too much eyeliner, right,
when you were reviewed because it felt terrible.
Yeah, it's not the best.
I don't know why they keep persisting with that.
The BZ4X has got it as well.
But, yeah, Roland, that's a good point.
211, that's probably the highest EV ground clearance, I think.
This whole tarot had pretty similar high ground clearance as well.
Good if you've got a sloping driveway or something.
But good point about Subaru,
like, I would only buy an all-drive Subaru.
It's like the signature moves, though.
It's good that this is available.
I like that it looks like there's station wagon.
Station wagon, yes.
Yeah, it's a bit more extended.
4.8 something meters long.
So it's not ridiculously long.
It's very outback-ish, isn't it?
Outback-like.
Yeah, that's good.
Good to see more Japanese EVs on the road.
Good, we'll keep an eye on that one.
Thank you, Roland, for supporting that.
Yes, but it'll sell as well.
Yes, brand loyalists, for sure.
That's a Subaru brand loyalists.
I've noticed a lot of BZ4Xs on the road.
I'm not sure every time I see the driver,
I'm trying to picture what made you buy this.
This is the first-generation one.
Yeah, I know.
Then I'm like, oh, probably you work for a place
that has bought these as fleet cars,
because it's heard I was giving them away to fleet customers.
So, yeah.
But anyway, it's good to see them on the road.
I found the new Subaru Salterra an improvement
to the old BZ4X and the old Salterra.
So hopefully we're making incremental improvements
as each generation comes along.
All right, let's keep pushing on.
Now, we want to make wagons great again.
So this has been spotted in China, the Polestar 4 Estate.
Here we go.
I still like the Polestar 4.
Look, I see a lot more of them around.
I think there's more discounting available.
But yeah, I feel like...
Why do they call it Estate, though?
I feel like someone died.
Oh, yeah.
It's just what they've always called it.
Estate shooting break.
Wagons.
Actually, that fits with the number 4
for the market anyway, isn't it?
That's true.
Oh, nice.
Nice segue.
Yeah.
Four new Polestar models.
Here we go.
There's more pictures there.
Let's have a look.
It's spotted somewhere in China.
Looks like a Polestar 4 at the front.
But party at the back with the wagon.
What happened to that?
What was it?
No rear window.
Yeah, that's true, actually.
Good point.
Let's make rear windows great again.
It's like the indicator in the model 3-way.
It's like the indicator is great again.
It has a rear window.
That's right.
That's very true.
And apparently, it's called a stake in the UK.
There you go.
Oh, a stake is actually just the term for station wagon.
Yes.
Correct.
There you go.
I've learnt something new.
I think the Polestar 5 is going to be launched in Australia
pretty soon as well, so it should be interesting.
How much is that going to cost for this?
A lot of money, right?
171 plus on roads, I think it was,
as a starting price.
Oh, my gosh.
I'm not sure what that car is competing with.
Like Porsche Taycan,
but some of the ones that Porsche wants are Porsche.
They don't want a Polestar.
And yeah, a new Polestar 3 has just not taken off.
No, it's a lot of money.
That's five-bit of the gold-plated for that kind of money.
Seriously.
170.
Now, let's go back to Tesla just real quick.
Tesla Cybertruck, cheapest ever launched in the US.
It's now under 59K.
No, just under 60K.
About 85,000 Australian.
There we go.
Question is, will we ever see that in Australia
on the Cybertruck?
Yeah, and apparently the price is already going up.
They've just announced this,
and apparently the divide is so high
that deliveries have gone from June to October.
And yeah, Elon's already talked about the price
potentially increasing.
And today they have a ribbon, like a ribbon on their website
on the Cybertruck configurator saying price going up
from 28th of February.
So it'd be interesting to see at 59,990,
that is cheaper by $10,000
compared to a single-motor rear-wheel drive
that they launched about a year ago,
which was a bit of a flop.
Single-motor Cybertruck.
It just doesn't work for me.
It's going to have more grunt than that, right?
You probably have a car like that.
The specs, apart from the interior,
which of course, Tom, we're not going to trigger the interior
snob in you to get started on that.
But apart from the interior and a few other changes,
it has the same battery,
it has roughly the same performance
as the premium all-wheel drive.
So I suspect if they're going to be increasing prices,
it might be $65,000 instead of $59,000 at the moment.
Yes, the interior snobber me thinks
the Cybertruck interior is quite spartan,
for what I've seen anyway.
But look, again, you're buying this for the utility
and for example, V2 out the back.
It's the fact that it looks odd as well.
That's its selling point, I guess.
So, yeah, I don't know.
Roland ADL Watch will keep an eye on it,
I guess, if it ever comes in.
If I ever see it, you'll definitely hear about it.
Every breaking news, I'm sure.
Oh, yes.
So one card, I'd love to see here, of course, is the 7GT,
the Zika 7GT.
When is the question?
When?
Well, I'm going to rely on my friend, Roland,
and he's going to tell us when he spots it on the ADL.
Yeah, when we spot it.
We'll be first tonight.
Hopefully we see you.
Hopefully.
Okay, let's keep pushing.
I think we're almost at the end, guys.
Just quickly, the next round of fast charging grants
for our glorious state of New South Wales is open.
Round four is now open.
So if you want a charger, I guess, and some money,
then that's where you want to go.
New South Wales Government website.
Applications closing 24th of April, 2026.
So more charges, the better for EV owners.
And just finally, to finish off the night,
RobotWatch here is not really a robot,
but this is a charging station in China
with a gantry above the cars.
And you can pull the gun or the plug down
to charge a vehicle.
I think this is a fantastic idea.
We only work in an advanced civilization like China.
People are respectable and look after things.
So we'll see.
Hopefully this will arrive in Australia in the next century.
But for now, this is the case in China.
I'd be paranoid.
I'd be right here with somebody.
Oh, sorry.
You go, Joy.
I was just going to say, I'd be paranoid that it will come
and hit me on the head if I'm not paying attention,
if I'm trying to walk to my car.
It can happen.
Yeah, floating.
Sorry, Riz, you were about to say something?
Yeah, I was going to just quickly say,
I'd met somebody about 12 months ago
who was saying that they were thinking about
bringing this technology over to Australia.
So it must be a very private sort of a hotel building
or something that this could work quite well in Australia.
Maybe the new Trump hotel on the Gold Coast.
But in most standard shopping centers,
I reckon they're going to get their cables pinched at peak
and kids are going to try and do a bit of a Tarzan on them
and swing from one car to another for sure.
Is there something like this for buses though?
Isn't there already something like that?
True, but I mean, they're in a private compound.
It's all under guard.
But as Quave Head says,
can you imagine what happened on a Friday night
with some people who aren't as respectful
jumping on them like Tarzan, as Riz said.
Bunging around, yeah.
I mean, you could work in a secure environment
like a state or apartment building or Trump hotel,
as Riz said, but probably not in the public space.
I think in our country.
Yeah, recording charging cables are great.
Yep, it's a good concept.
I love it.
And you know, it's obviously no footprint, right?
Don't put the charger on the ground.
It's above all the gantry.
Just makes sense, I think, if it works.
Okay, well, just on that note,
I think we will finish the show there.
So thank you again to Riz and Rolla
for joining us, our co-host for this evening.
Riz, anything coming up for you this week?
No, not a lot.
I'm driving my, as I mentioned,
electric Range Rover Evoque at the moment,
aka JQ J5 EV.
Nice.
So happy about that.
And then give that back for a pop spec base model
Kia EV4, which, you know,
got to live that entry level.
It's really interesting like how far we've come,
where these cars are really, really good value.
So that's what's happening on my end.
Roland, you've got much happening this week?
No, but I'll give that croc thing a test.
So I'll give an update next week
to see how good or bad it is.
Yes, please, document that for us.
That'd be great.
And yes, for us, we've got the Hyundai Alexio as well.
So that will be on the channel very soon.
So looking forward to showing you guys what that's about.
So stay tuned for that video.
And thank you to our viewers who've joined us tonight.
Thank you for staying with us this long.
Thank you for putting up with the Tesla news at the beginning.
But there was quite a bit of other news as well.
So great to see other events and things happening in the EV space.
So, all righty.
Thank you, everyone, for joining us.
Thank you to our sponsors as always.
Thank you, Riz.
Thank you, Roland.
Thank you, Joy.
And we shall see you all next week on the Lucris Fig Live.
Until then, bye for now.
Bye.
