and he's there squatting and pissing again.

About two years ago,

I bought one of my dream cars, a 2013 Jaguar XKRS.

I've been enjoying it as a weekend toy

and occasionally taking it on track.

Every time I get in it,

it still manages to surprise me

and scare me a little bit with its 550 horsepower.

The flip side is that I do still have some finance on the car.

I rent a garage to store it

and with servicing and maintenance costs,

it isn't exactly cheap to own.

On top of that, tracking it obviously wears out the tires faster

and brakes, so it all adds up.

So here's where I am torn.

Although it's been reliable so far,

I can't shake the fear that one big repair

could drain my bank account.

Sometimes it feels like a bit crazy

to pour that much money into a car

I only use a few times a month.

But then again, every single time I get behind the wheel,

I fall back in love with it

and remember exactly why I bought it.

So what do you guys think?

Am I being irrational

and should just keep enjoying the dream

or is it smarter to cash out

before the big bills inevitably arrive?

Why?

Because those cars,

I really like those, by the way, the RS cars,

they're, I think, pretty much

at the bottom of their depreciation at the moment.

They are, you can get them relatively cheap.

So if he sells it,

probably won't get as much for it

from what he paid for it

unless he got it cheap.

But also the only thing that really goes wrong

with those major wise

is when they get to 100,000 miles,

they usually need a chain if they stretch.

Just a couple of grand, get it done

and then you should be good to go.

They're really good cars.

Do they have a baffled sump?

Probably not.

Well, I don't know, because I know quite a few people

that have taken those on track days

and never had an issue.

It's not the same engine that this table was made out of.

Yeah, I was just thinking, though.

Jaguar, do they really come with baffled sumps?

Something like that.

I think they're usually all right for a real starvation.

These ones not, which is why this is a table.

But yeah, personally,

unless you're looking to buy a house or something,

just keep it and enjoy it

because you'll want to replace it

with something realistically.

And you might regret it.

If it's a nice one that you've had for a while

and that you trust and you enjoy it especially,

just keep it.

Because I've done that in the past

like so many times where I'll sell a car

and I'm like, oh, I've got to get something else.

And that's why I go through cars

because I get the whole,

I want to try something else on board of it

and then I'll be like, oh,

I do kind of wish I still had that.

And one of them for me was my E92 M3s.

I had two of them and I love them both so dearly

and they were expensive to run,

you know, expensive to tax,

but fuel in, tires, brakes, everything

that did wear on me a bit.

And I was like, no, I'm going to sell it.

And I've done that twice

because I missed the first one so much.

I bought another one

and I still kind of miss them today.

But which is why I haven't sold my M5.

Because I know that when I sell that

I will replace it with something.

But for me, I really like my M5s.

What do you replace that with?

That's the thing.

The working one.

Oh, the only thing I'd replace that with

is a 911, really.

Well, an old one or a new one?

A new one.

Probably get a 997.

you'll replace it with something else.

they're fairly reliable

and they're fantastic to look at

So just, I would just keep it.

And let's, as I say, you're looking by house.

you will want to buy something else

and that might be really unreliable.

Stick with what you know.

It gives you pleasure.

You don't use it that much.

and bought something a bit cheaper,

And you'd still want to fulfill that whole,

you know, V8, whatever coupé.

And then if you replace it with another V8 coupé,

with 500 horsepower.

it's been down about 150 horsepower.

and it's only come to like recently,

it needs this Vanoss line.

So I'd love to fix that,

enjoy the 500 horsepower,

do the injectors

because they can stick open

and blow up the engine a little bit

and I really don't want that to happen.

So I'm going to do those.

That's only 200 quid to do that.

And then I would really love to get

a carbon intake for that car.

And I want to put a valved exhaust on it

because it's too loud as it is.

And as much as I love the VA on,

you know, straight part flat out,

it sounds amazing

when I'm driving around town

and especially when I cold start it,

it's just too loud.

V10.

So, yeah, I want flappy in the exhaust

but the carbon intake for me

and a bit more power, mwah.

You know how you said

that your M5 feels slower

because it's down power?

My V8 E39 M5

feels faster than I expected it would be.

They are fast cars.

The surge of torque.

As soon as you put your foot flat on the throttle,

it just doesn't let up.

Yeah, there is something not quite right with yours

because it smells eggy through the exhaust.

So yours is running a bit rich.

So it's either a dodgy airflow meter

or it's a dodgy O2 sensor.

I'd just replace all of them.

But it's fantastically fast.

Also, it has no silences.

It is way too loud.

But I can tell you for now,

there's more power to be got from that car.

Even just by doing a few maintenance bits.
