Hey everybody, welcome back to another edition of the Soobie Scoop.
Today I don't have too much to report on myself because that's what I've been doing
with the Soobie Scoop is just kind of catching everybody up with what's going on in my life.
However, my daughter, as you may know, is pregnant and she is nearing the end of her pregnancy,
so I would say within a month, I'm guessing we are going to have a new addition to the family,
which we are all very, very excited about, of course. And not only that, but a new addition
to the Soobie family because while it's going to be a long time before she can drive or own a car,
of course she will be taking rides in Subaru's, so she'll be taking a ride at some point in my car,
probably my son's car, and then of course her parents car, which is the third generation
Subaru Crosstrek. So I've had so many people on the podcast that said that they grew up with
family members having Subaru's and so they just grew up around Subaru's. I never had that,
nobody in my family that I can remember ever had a Subaru, so I'm super excited that my granddaughter
is going to get to grow up and be surrounded by Subaru's so that one day maybe she can tell
that same story. The other thing that I told my daughter I'm very excited about with her daughter
is that she will grow up knowing 80's music because I was very intentional about introducing
my kids to 80's music that I grew up with. I was actually at a Starbucks the other day and
I heard these people talking and there was this girl that said like her parents were very intentional
about introducing her to music and the guy was like yeah my parents never did that for me.
But I loved 80's music so much and I really wanted my kids to know 80's music and love it the way
that I did and my kids to this day still absolutely love 80's music and I know that that's a big part
of their life and I know that it's a big part of my daughter's life and I know she will make it a
big part of her daughter's life so that is very exciting for me. The only other thing I have to
report for me I guess is that I'm going to need new tires soon. I went to go get my tires rotated
about I guess two weeks ago and they said that two of them were at 430 seconds and the other
ones were at 530 seconds so they're getting pretty low. Of course they're not bald but something that
I didn't know is that I bought them from Discount Tire. That's my second set of Toyos that I've
bought from them because I just love them so much but you know the tires are usually rated at a
certain mileage range or mile range and mine are rated at like 65,000 miles and I'm only at about
49,000 right now maybe 50 by this point but I'm somewhere around 50,000 miles so they are wearing
low earlier on than what they're rated at so what I found out is that if I buy some new tires
or replacement tires I can get a credit for the new tires because the current tires are wearing
sooner than what they're rated at and the guy quoted me like $86 a tire so if that's true I can
get a new set of tires and I only need four because I still have my fifth spare up on the top that I've
never used I can get four tires at a pretty good discount so I'm waiting for those ones because
they have to be at 430 seconds from what I understand so the other two that were at 530 seconds I need
those to wear a little bit more and then I can get the credit for them so I'm going to go back and
maybe another couple of weeks and get them checked out again maybe wait a little bit longer and see
what it is because I could really use a discount right now so I'm hoping that I can get a pretty
good discount on my tires and get some new ones because I definitely am going to need them soon
so that's really it for me but the subi scoop isn't over because today I'm going to be utilizing
the subi scoop for what it was originally intended for and that is to share event information as well
as just information about stuff in the community and groups so I have three people on today I have
Brandon and Rob here to talk about an event coming up this weekend for off-road ruse as well as
talking about other events that they're going to have throughout the year and kind of what their
focus is for 2026 and we just get into other information just general information about
off-road ruse kind of how it started and then just uh just you know just talking and chatting
Subaru stuff and then I also have Kyle who goes by the create outdoors he is going to be here
talking about the new youtube channel that he started for adventure one and what their focus is
what kind of content you can expect to see and then also the I guess the categories if you want
to call it or the topics that he's going to be talking about so he hops on the mic to talk about
adventure one and the youtube channel and the direction of that and then we just get into
chatting about other things of course because hey why not so if you are in a group if you have
something that you want the community to know about please let me know because that is what the
original intent and the purpose of the subi scoop was is to let people know what's going on in the
community especially if there are events coming up I release a subi scoop every other Monday

another one but if you have something that is planned in advance and you want people to know
about it let me know and you can either come on here and talk about it yourself or send me the
information and I will gladly share it so again I want to use the subi scoop for what it was originally

y'all want to go ahead and introduce yourselves and then let people know what you're here to talk
about sure sure rob can you can go first sure hey i'm rob uh i'm part of the offroad ruse community
and uh we have a lot of fun uh adventuring responsibly offroading all over the country
and showing uh people that you can do that while also uh we do events for you know forest cleanups
and other volunteer events every chance that we get awesome uh my name is brandon i'm also a
member of the offroad ruse community i'm based in jersey known rob for about two years now so
you know helping him grow this community and seeing where it's taken us has been
a great experience and it's been very rewarding and we look forward to planning more events and
sharing them with people as time goes on nice and meeting a lot of you like we want to see as many of
you out on our events as possible and getting feedback for other things that we can do like
starting some you know off-road to hiking off-road to kayaking and and not just using our super
successful off-road but using the off-road to do other things that super owners like doing so we
definitely want to hear from everyone what we can do yeah so kind of more just like outdoor lifestyle
all inclusive of other events that can people can do and other activities sounds like exactly
absolutely so how long has off-road ruse been like when did y'all establish it
so we we kind of started off as as a tri-state chapter of another off-roading group and we
wanted to do a whole bunch of other things and got a bunch of opportunities so we started off-road
ruse a couple years ago we've grown to almost 7 000 members on facebook and a bunch following us
on instagram right now nice um and we've done we in the team have done something like about 110
events so far over the last like six or seven years so we've been pretty busy and trying to get
busier yeah that's really good where have y'all done like different i guess activities or events
because i know you're not just in one location like out on the east coast you have some representation
in other parts of the country too correct oh yeah so we um we've done events in utah and colorado
and and arizona and the washington state of course uh along the eastern seaboard and we
worked with other off-roading groups that we their co-host events with or promote we've done stuff in
like uh the midwest uh we've done events in ohio we do like the overlining showcase for
ragnar super outdoor experience that's a great experience we hope to see a lot of people joining
us out there um yeah we're good we're planning some events all along the eastern seaboard
including florida this year we've got uh more events coming up in the southwest of this country
we'll be once again helping subaru get uh people involved in the overland expos for some of their
their special events like their special camping and and expo events yeah it's going to be a lot of fun
um and now like one of the things that we're trying to do like we see we've done reviews of
these cars when they come out every time super has a new model um and they've been gracious enough
to come out there with with these things and and show off what they can do but and and there's a
lot of channels out there that do the same but like what we wanted to do is we wanted to try and
bring something a little bit different to the community and get these new models and get them
out there and and get the community out there with us on these events so they can see them
like on on a unreleased day or embargo lift or or shortly after that and and literally get to
physically touch the car or do ride-alongs with us and things like that so we figured let's let's
combine our off-road events with like a show and tell where people aren't just sitting in front of
a screen they get to see the car or ride in the car touch the car and and see what they can actually
do with their own eyes yeah now and y'all have an event coming up pretty soon and that's that's
a purpose for having y'all on and including y'all with the subi scoop so we can get some
information about on there but y'all want to go ahead and talk about the event that's coming up
sure February 14th uh and 15th we are doing some off-roading in the New Jersey Pine Barons
we're going to go a whole bunch of different places we have a not yet we have to pick it up
Thursday we're picking up a uh a foster um hybrid which we're going to off-road and show
people how to use the different X modes so there's some other reviews out there where people yeah
it's you know it's it's going to be what's coming next and with that instant torque knowing how to
use it it's like something that a lot of people are looking at the car pretty interested in and
we we know how to do that and make it work and then like like of course the other big thing
that's been really polarizing is that 2026 outback um so we're getting uh 2026 outback
roading us out there and not just showing off what it can do but what it actually looks like
in person because when you see it it's it's it's not like looking at in a picture oh yeah um yeah
it's it's a lot nicer in person yeah it's like those shapes aren't don't look as blocky don't
they don't look like you know as 1980s Volvo or whatever you know so um we want we want people
to see that but the other thing that we want them to experience are the other great modifications
they did like the electric electronic dampers and um the suspension tuning and a lot of stuff like
that and get to ride it and see what these things are capable of so I think it's gonna be a lot of
fun plus of course we're doing our usual off-roading and uh would also thanks to Subaru America um
we're gonna we have a group campsite for Saturday night so the first 10 cars however many people
are in those cars it doesn't matter um so if you got three four people in your car bring them all
first 10 cars who sign up get to camp with us and hang out Saturday night that's cool
yeah so what has your experience been brandon over the past I guess however long you've been
involved with with off-road ruse so it's pretty it's funny like I kind of joined once that the
group started getting off the ground because I got my cross-track wilderness in November of 23
um and it's actually funny I heard of Rob even before I joined the community I was at a local
park and there was an elderly couple that saw my car and they they had an outback wilderness and
they were talking about Robert and referring to him as uh Subaru Ambassador Robert I know
he still keeps in touch with them too and they're like oh he runs all these cool events and stuff
and then I kind of went down the rabbit hole a little bit uh I made an instagram account for
my car uh clotosaurus trex on instagram and uh I made another facebook account just to get
involved with these groups because I deleted mine in like 2016 um and then I got to meet Rob that
summer and um you know the rest of history you know helped him with these events I've gone to
a number of them I had the pleasure of going out to west this past summer to Utah and Colorado and
I had a blast you know for a good cause uh really great people here I've I've met people from
numerous groups across the country uh gone to a lot of events and uh it's been a blast I've
been enjoying the ride so um cheers to many many more years hopefully um and this was my first
Subaru by the way so nice yeah uh second or more than two first oh this was your first
oh okay okay gotcha I thought you said it wasn't your first no yeah my first one too
and uh I love it yeah I love it it's great it's great yeah the people are even greater
but uh they're fun cars yeah yeah I mean it's you know I think I've learned a little bit about
off-road ruse and it's good to have y'all and to learn a little bit more um is there anything
else y'all want to share about their group and like where it's headed I know you've kind of talked
about that some but is there anything else you want to share that you haven't sure we are
planning a whole bunch of uh one we have a bunch of special vehicle reveals and some of them
are historical vehicles um there's a particular car that everyone asks what happened to it and
we we did a video uh when we were at the Subaru vintage garage um not too long ago um they gave
us all access and we were filming as many things as we could um on top of that this year we want
to try and crush our previous year's records for forest cleanups so we're currently at 42 000 pounds
of trash out of state and national forests um and we're hoping to get like another 25 30 000 which
will make that our biggest year but and increase the total to like 70 75 000 pounds um and the cool
thing about that is it's going to be off-roading but we also get to off-road places you legally
cannot go oh because y'all are doing the cleanups yep they give us special permits and and we've
been working with these uh with these agencies now for years and so like we trust you we see you
guys out there we know what you guys do so here's a permit to go to this place they trashed it
people normally aren't even allowed to walk there here's your permit we trust you guys to go off-road
there because one you're not removing the trash without vehicles yeah and two we trust you guys
and so you get to see some really beautiful places like we saw a place called Hidden Lake in
New Jersey it is gorgeous this beautiful blue waters this this sandy beach and everything
and you're literally not allowed to walk anywhere within like miles of it and we were out there with
our suities parked them on the beach got a great shot but like we also pulled something like 7 500
pounds out of out of those forests that weekend so good cause lots of fun and and meet some great
people um we're trying to host a few q and a's with Subaru we'll see how that goes um
and as I said we're as these new vehicles come out like we we have plans already for the trail
seeker and the uncharted so as soon as they're made available to us that's gonna be super cool yes
and I don't know if we're gonna get them to them at the same time like we're taking out two cars
this coming weekend uh or if they're gonna be separately but I think that's gonna be really
fun event um we're doing southern Ohio forest rally and and obviously southern Ohio and uh
we're doing two things one we're going to be following along and we're gonna help clean up
the the forest because they do this all in state forest it's really important to return them to the
condition that they were in so that we can have these rallies year after year um but the cool
thing about that is we literally get to drive our suities on the rally stages yeah um so that's
gonna be really cool we get we're driving the same dirt trails that the rally drivers just did
and uh we do a little bit of good for the community and then of course october we're doing um
we're having a super outdoor experience we're running the overland thing showcase for them again
and that's gonna be a lot of fun we're looking for 30 uh suities that are set up for camping
or off-roading and I want to get them out there and show them off um and they'll literally be a
part of the event so pretty cool so with that off-road event at the uh the dealership are y'all
y'all have like an off-road course that people can come out there and drive their subarus through
absolutely well so or it's kind of limited it's kind of limited so the cool thing is that the
people who become a part of the overlanding showcase because we helped with the with the
original design and with the redesign of the off-roading course and we had the easy part we
just made the recommendations just to be clear Wagner Subaru uh excuse me five rivers metro parks
and Subaru of america did all the heavy lifting but um because we contributed to that and doing it
everyone who's chosen for part of the overlanding showcase gets to show up a day early and and drive
their cars on the course after that all the rest of the 20 000 attendees can only drive the authorized
Subaru vehicles okay um so yeah it's also a you know a nice little added bonus for everyone who
shows up for part of the showcase now is the off-road course like actually off-road as far as
like you've got dirt and mud and stuff out there or is it like obstacles that you build up on top of
like you know a parking lot or something oh it's all in it's in their forest area and um awesome
it's got dirt and mud and things that it didn't have like they built so cyclists do a water feature
and so they literally dug down and did a a waterproof liner to try and keep the water and
there's a big water tank hidden in a pump to keep refilling it because of course when you go through
it you splash the water out so they did that they they built up a big hill climb and then they did
like a log step thing so you're you're you're driving over a bunch of staggered logs a whole
rock area to do to simulate like you know rocky mountain climb type stuff um so it's really cool
because they just kept adding these things we are we're pushing right now for moguls uh so we
have a little bit of time and if they can figure out where to fit that in then it's going to be like
off off camber wheel stuff where like your front left is on the ground and your right rear is on
the ground yeah and the other corners are up in the air and you get to drive through and it keeps
alternating so we're hoping that we can fit that in for this coming year but either way it's a
really cool course and they have like seven different models of Subaru's that you can choose
from and sign up for to go drive out there and you're literally the driver which is really cool
yeah that is awesome i i i've heard of it i just didn't really know much about it so
when is that event so that's um the first weekend in october okay uh that's saturday and sunday
and there's a ton of other stuff that's it's really cool because if you like anything outdoors it's
really cool you've got you've got your kayaking and you've got your mountain biking and and uh
there's running stuff there's uh ziplining there's rock climbing uh and then there's there's really
cool music really great food venues there and some really really great um uh uh merchandising
companies like uh uh we use outdoor crates a lot uh i know brian has got a bunch of them i have
too many um too many of everything but that's a different issue uh they and they're a local
ohio company um so you got a lot of these great companies out there selling some really cool
things for outdoors events as well so it's a great event yeah so it sounds like y'all are
have a lot coming up you know this year and involved in a lot of things and it's great that
you have support from from dealerships and from Subaru of america because i know that definitely
helps but yeah you've got a lot of stuff that y'all get get to look forward to and other people
get to look forward to indeed i hope so and then we keep trying to learn keep trying to
try to do a bit more of what the community likes doing so we did uh we had a blast with it last
year we did our our snow and ice event uh we got bruised up a bit but we had fun i think i think we
had fun right brian i did i slipped a lot uh bloopers real is on youtube but don't look at that
yeah we it's we fell more than the subis like we would literally get out the car and we were just
like down on our butts like on on on a thing and then sliding like literally you're trying to stop
yourself from sliding and it's not like a steep angle you're like on a 10 degree angle and you're
just sliding across the ice it was comical but but cold and painful yeah that was that uh
anthracite outdoor adventure area in pennsylvania the off-road park okay great off-road park and
we'll be doing we'll be doing a few events uh there with them this year and a couple of the other
places so that's the other thing we're trying to do events for like like super simple beginner level
my car is not modded so let's go to anthracite outdoor adventure area and we're taking taking
some greens and maybe some blue trails which are a bit more intense for subis um and of course we
also teach as we go we'll be doing um we'll also be doing some recovery classes um and uh some
with a survival stuff in there as well so trying to cover all that as well so
people can go out there and they can do these things and they can be safe when they do it
yeah so obviously you are on instagram but is facebook the best place to find out when you
have events going on just like go to the events page of off-road ruse yes indeed it'll be both in
the community so people can join the facebook uh group um and interact with everyone or they
can follow the page everything gets uh cross posted to both of them uh as well as some there's some
other uh off-roading groups that like we work with and collaborate with and support um so we also
put their events in the community page so those will be on our events calendar as well
so there's which we try and find stuff that people like and for all over the country
okay and then do y'all have a youtube channel or anything yes we do it's under off-road ruse
okay great all right well thank you guys for hopping on and sharing but i guess just a quick
reminder uh just to close it out remind everybody what the event is next weekend and what the dates
and time are okay so february uh 14th we are starting at 10 a.m at atzian mansion in new jersey
we're gonna be off-roading through all the sand and mud and stuff and showing off these cars we
have a 2025 uh forester hybrid and a 26 outback wilderness and people will get to do ride-alongs
in them so that they can experience what it's like riding them on the 15th we are starting at uh the
wawa and 1170 route route 70 i believe yeah manchester manchester new jersey at 10 a.m and uh
we're going to be hitting up another part of the pine barons and uh and doing the same thing
having a lot of fun nice nice yeah that'll be overnight that'll be really cool yeah so sounds
like a good good event and fun and yeah getting to see the new seabroos and what they're capable of
is going to be really important for people to understand that you know the seabroos are still
going to be very capable and you know i haven't experienced the either one of them but i've seen
like what milton and carrier doing with the wilderness or with the um forester hybrid
that they have out there in their area and yeah they're killing it thing is amazing put it lightly
yeah so that's gonna be exciting especially to see the the uh the new wilderness outback i've seen
it in person because we they had one at overland expo in virginia and i you know i don't dislike it
i mean yeah it's very different but uh uh the inside is incredible like they did oh it's amazing
yeah it's it's like it looks so cool and tech is better too yeah super responsive yeah that's what
i've seen uh but yeah that'll be a fun event so people get to see what it can do and like you
said get to see it in person do ride alongs and then touch it and because yeah it's even like with
people in the community that you follow you can see a million pictures and videos and stuff and
when you see their car in person it's just way different hundred percent that's uh it's really
fun to see that so yeah thank you guys for hopping on i appreciate it and thanks for having us yeah
so y'all have a good day and we'll talk to you later okay you too all right thanks you're welcome
hey welcome back to the podcast thank you for having me again you're welcome
i saw that y'all well we were chatting about it some but y'all started a youtube channel for
adventure one so i wanted to get you on to give you an opportunity to talk about it
and i'd love to talk about it all right let's do it so uh where what's going on with adventure one
lately anyway so uh we are pretty much just do doing our thing per usual um we've been attending
uh few events over the last year wicked big me per usual we just attended overland expo east for
the first time back in october and uh yeah and we just uh came back or got back from winterfest
this year oh nice how was that now killington so that was that was fun super super cold
i bet it was a little hard to be outside for prolonged periods but we made it work yeah that's
good so uh what kind of uh events do y'all have coming up and then what what prompted y'all to
start the youtube channel uh as far as events coming up i know obviously the next big one's
going to be wicked big meat but uh we have a few smaller events in the in the works for the group so
i don't have too much info on on those but uh we're working on some some other events you
know in between the big ones so yeah so then uh what is like where did the i guess the idea for
starting the youtube channel come from all right so uh the channel was something one of the things
about um supergroups and i don't want anyone who's in a supergroup or is thinking about starting a
supergroup or anything like that to like take this the wrong layer or anything but there's a
difference in level between just being a supergroup and being one that does a little bit more for the
community because i think groups that are just doing group stuff and don't have a lot of members
or admins that are like fully involved 24-7 doing a lot sometimes those groups can fall flat over
time and disband over time yeah and for us we want adventure one to run for as long as it can
and in order to do that you know we're going to have to do you know additional things for growth
as as we go on in adventure one and for me one of the things that i always wanted to do was
my favorite thing in the world is helping people i love helping people and in our group we
talk all the time we don't have you know not all of our members are fully experienced in
building subarus and modifying their subarus for this overlanding stuff which i've been calling it
adventuring lately because i find just calling it overlanding it leaves out like the group of
people that love doing off-roading because that's you know they're they're two they're two similar
things but two different things so i've been calling it adventuring now and just one of the
things that people you know they don't they don't always know when they first get their
super what they're going to uh what they're going to do with it or how to build it and yeah i know
that will when we were at overland expo east because we were invited adventure one by super
to be an overland expo and we weren't the only ones there with our built subarus but
there weren't many other built subarus there either there were a lot of people that had
just bought a Subaru or just or didn't have much done to their Subaru and they're kind of new to
the overlanding and adventuring thing yeah and for me i knew that as i was learning i wish i had
the resources that are out there now when i was doing it and for me i want to do that same thing
for people and adventure one is a great platform to do that with and so the adventure one channel
wasn't the first time i was doing videos like this i did videos on my own channel um that helped
or that taught people how to build subarus and things like that so when my channel shifted
i knew doing the same thing with adventure one number one it was going to be a lot better
in the the ethos of Subaru and adventure one compared to my channel and you know it was just
a way for us to grow adventure one in a different way and not just help people within our group
but help people everywhere basically yeah because i saw the i watched the first video
that you did and it was talking pretty much about like how to build out your Subaru and the way to
think about it as far as like what your intentions are with it and just kind of exploring and seeing
what it is capable of and then what you might need or maybe you don't need that you thought you needed
kind of thing so that was a really good video and i mean like for somebody like me who bought a
Subaru uh because i bought my cross track back in 20 september of 2020 and i had no idea what i
was going to do with it i knew that we had family reunions every year and up there were some county
roads and i thought like that's probably the extent of what i was going to do and then started an
instagram page for it started connecting with people found out about like trails to go to
and then people saying oh if you want to go to these trails you should probably get skid plates
because there are some spots where you're definitely going to need it and so and i've never been to
that trail since then it was it's hidden falls out near austin but i also started hearing that it
was getting pretty bad because like a lot of jeeps and big trucks were going out there so it was
more tame trails because it just got really bad so i think you know the point of having people
think about what they want to do with their build and then but then going out there like you said
and exploring with it as a stock vehicle just to see like because so many people don't realize
they're as capable as they are and like you know you brought the point don't go out and just buy
a whole bunch of stuff because you think you need it buy what you discover that you actually need
so that you don't spend in a lot of unnecessary money and i think that's like a very very good
point with that video yeah and in that is the thing is a lot of people because we have instagram and
we have all these social medias and we see other people's builds on the time we think oh if my build
was like that i could go out in an adventure and do whatever i want to do but in reality it's like
a lot of these build servers we do them because they're cool i'll even say that with my super i
don't think half of the mods that i have on the adventure wagon are necessary but they're just
cool yeah and i you know spend the money on them but i don't need them all to go and do the things
that i want to do with it and it's it's a it's an interesting thing to see and that's one of the
reasons why that was the first video was because people who watched the channel for the first time
they're gonna watch that video and they're gonna say oh interesting because i when i think about
because my brain is always on youtube so i kind of understand like philosophies and
psychologies of videos on youtube and especially the way that that video is titled and the way
the thumbnail is i hope that it pops up with other videos of people talking about modifying
their super is yeah to sort of catch your eye and um yeah because you want people to see it for
sure right exactly and i i did a little i did go against my what i was wanting to do to the
start of the channel and that was like sharing the video too much places because we're like
sure to our discord and i shared it of course with you on in your discord and we shared to a
bunch of places which thankfully we shouldn't have done because i can mess with the youtube algorithm
but we're it the channel still growing so clearly it's it's still working it's a little slow but
it's still working um at least and that's sort of an experiment for me is trying i've never
grown a channel from scratch before at this day and age of youtube my channel's 12 or
more than 12 years old it's like 15 years old at this point so um growing my channel is a lot
different now than trying to grow a new channel now so that's also a good experiment for me to
see how that growth what needs to happen for the growth and how that growth is going to happen
okay so as far as like other videos that you're planning to put up like what is going to be the
primary focus of the youtube channel because you know this the the first one again was just kind of
getting people started but where do you have like a vision and do you have kind of like a little map
that you've put together of what you're planning to put out as far as content and then is are you
able to share that too yeah i don't know absolutely um i probably want to share specific videos but
there are uh four categories i'm gonna pull it up there are like four categories of videos that
we're going to be doing on the channel but the the overall ethos of it is like super adventuring
in general like for example when we were just at winterfest i filmed the entire thing on my my
ace pro 2 and i was going to make a little recap video of our time at winterfest so it's going to be
all sorts of different videos the the educational ones are kind of like the primary like backbone
videos on youtube there's like three types of videos you can do
there's what they call evergreen videos which is like what that first one is where it can be
watched years from now and still be relevant yep yeah that's good so that's um that's one
that's one kind of video i'm trying uh where is it so there are
uh four different content types are going to do there's uh lesson types which is what that
first video is um there are how-to videos like installation videos or um example like how to
use recovery gear that belongs in a how-to video yeah that sort of thing um a review video if there
comes a time where we have certain products companies might come to us looking for a review
for we'll do something like that and then like i was saying with winterfest event recap videos so
it's more to get people kind of look into what this Subaru overlanding adventuring culture is
basically yeah that's good that's a good focus and it's good to have like categories like that
that you're planning to stick with and then especially the evergreen ones like you mentioned
because somebody is going to buy a Subaru five years from now and if they come across that video
that's going to be very helpful yeah and that was the only thing too was with my expertise
in video production i'm not i think all the channels out there right now that talk about
building subarus are great um because they're really great people with really great information
and um i just want to present them in a higher quality way um then you're not going to find on
another one of those channels basically got you so okay um yeah and then the other two
video types basically so you have the evergreen ones then you have ones that are more experimental
like you might try something new to see if it lands with your audience or not and um if it
doesn't you ever do it again if it does work you can keep doing it and then the other one is sort of
like um special videos that are reoccurring but don't happen as often so those are basically the
three types of videos to have on a channel yeah i'm still trying to figure out like exactly
what i want to do with mine and how i want to do it because i kind of let it sit for a while but
now i want to get back to it and do more content with it so we'll see how it goes i definitely like
so when i go out to overland expo this year i've gotten a lot more comfortable with doing video
content and being behind the camera and and i'm just using my cell phone because i don't have any
other you know like any kind of other video equipment but i have my road wireless pro which is
nice because it hooks up to my camera so i can use that for audio uh but that like i want to do
i want to have like an events playlist or something and start putting that together but
it's uh you know i'm still learning too with youtube yeah kind of figure out how it works
but uh you know it's fun and i was scared about i was scared of it for a long time and now i'm not
scared yeah i can definitely be scary to start and it was funny i watched um erin's episode from this
or listen to erin's episode from this past monday that you did with him and uh when you guys were
talking about like using your phones to record with and not using the screen and like yeah flipping
the camera around that's something when you guys are talking about that it's funny because i've
been doing youtube for so long that i don't think about that anymore like anytime i have a camera
in front of me i just know to look at the lens but no it's good it's good that you can do that
with flipping the screen around because i know a lot of people when they use the screen they end
up looking at the screen and you notice it yeah you notice that they're not making eye contact
with you yeah so yeah and like for me i was just like constantly looking at myself on the screen
and kind of like even if i was looking at the lens i could still see me you know like with my
peripheral vision and thinking like why are you doing that why are you doing you know and just
and it's just it's horrible so now what i do is i turn it around i don't even have the screen facing
me but i'll do like a little test video with it the other way just to kind of make sure that i'm
framed in it correctly and that if i'm moving around a little bit that i'm not going to move
like out of the scene so i'll do a little test video and then i'll come back and then i'll actually
do the full video and you know some things might take a few takes but but i'm i'm getting to where
i'm a lot more comfortable with it and i i don't feel as scared because like i've always hated
seeing myself on camera and you know it took me a long time to get over just hearing my voice
all the time and so now it's like you know i've been doing the podcast for five years i kind of
put myself in that position like you hate the sound of your voice and why did you start a podcast
you know you're gonna have to hear it every week but uh i'm you know it's it's getting easier and
i'm getting getting to the point where also like i just don't care as much you know just like just
do it and don't worry about it yeah eventually you get over it um i knew it probably took me about
like three years in of doing youtube to get over maybe not even that long to get over the whole
like being on camera thing but uh yeah and honestly too i don't know if this is still the case but
most of the time the back cameras on a phone are better than the front cameras in video quality
yeah they are yep yeah so it's nice to do that yeah anything else you want to share about the
youtube channel or adventure one or anything that you've got coming up yeah i would say right now
with the channel the schedule we're looking at is um every other friday i did because the winter
fest had to push back my channel's videos so adventure ones are also getting pushed back
another week as well but once we get started we'll do um we'll do every other week there are three
videos up on the channel right now for people to watch so there's plenty of content um that was a
rough launch week i was i'd edit every night and then by the time winter fest hit i was just
exhausted from doing the launch week but no i there will be will be posting hopefully
consistently i don't want to want to say hopefully we will be posting consistently
throughout the year and from here on out so we'll uh we'll see what happens and hopefully the channel
the channel grows like we like we would love to love for it too so great for us to be a good
resource excuse me good resource for people in the Subaru community yeah so every other
friday every other friday you said right yes okay good yeah so not this friday or next friday but
the friday after we'll be when the next upload happens some more like latter part of february
yeah february 20th should hopefully be the next episode okay that's good yeah then we can yeah
because i mean if you're if you're doing something like that youtube videos or podcasting or whatever
you know it's always good to be on a schedule so people know that like okay this is when it's
coming out especially if you tell them like hey and and that's why i always tried to make sure
that i put out an episode every single monday from the very beginning yeah i if i wasn't doing
my channel at the same time i'd probably do an adventure one video every week but um i'm
basically alternating weeks with which channel i work on so yeah yeah well good well thanks for
hopping on and chatting for a little bit and letting us know about the channel and
what the direction is and kind of what the uh you know i guess the focus is going to be
and uh yeah we look forward to seeing it thanks for letting us know what the schedule is as well
so people can you know watch for it yeah i'm glad to get the word out about the channel and i hope
people you know watch it and enjoy the content that's on there so and it won't just be my face all
the time we'll try and get some of the other adventure one people in there as well but it'll
mostly majority of the time be me but hopefully everyone will be involved over time all right
sounds good well thanks a lot absolutely all right have a good night you too all right there
