which is inevitable, like they're just going to come rolling hard

and that looked almost like it was going to go that way.

And then it was a really great mix.

I had a great time.

I had to leave early, but I saw that you took some great photos, Lane,

and it looked like it just stayed solid.

Yeah, dude, there was a Land Rover contingent on that front,

like a patio area and like off-roaders.

There was that, what's it called?

The big wagon, the German wagons, Unimog and that parked like right in front,

you know, it kind of like parked in the driving road area, the parking lot,

and right in front of like a GT3 RS.

So that was a nice little juxtaposition.

And then there was a couple old Land Rovers, FJ40 over there.

And then there's like the sedan boys with like the Lexuses and stuff

and the Hondas, Honda Civics, just a perfect amount, dude.

Yeah. And then there was all the VW guys rolled in.

You know what's weird is I got there early-ish and you were kind of...

Yeah, so we were kind of setting up and stuff,

but usually by eight o'clock, there's about 15 cars, 12 cars, something like that.

There was like nobody there, maybe like two cars.

830 is still pretty quiet.

Then like right at nine, it was just packed.

You know, it's like one of those things, steady stream of cars.

So it was an unusual timing of arrivals, but that was a good time.

There was like that crazy wild, that white thing that always has a crowd around.

There was a that cool alpha dude, that blue alpha with the body by Zagato.

Yeah, there's a little group of classic alphas that make the track and I talked

to them right when he arrived.

They were early and said, what's up?

And they said, yeah, drove great and happy to get it out.

So yeah, little Zagato body thing.

Yeah, those are cool.

Did it have the headlight covers on it?

Yeah, it did.

It's a nice look.

I mean, it's kind of a cool option.

You could, you could see like an E 30 pulling that off pretty well.

So it's a plexiglass panel that goes across the entire grill and headlights with some

like air vent holes punched into it in a cool way.

That's really neat.

There's the color.

It was like a little bit darker than the Laguna Seca blue kind of.

There's a, I don't know if I don't think it was DTM.

It might have been a BTCC where E 30.

Some E 30s ran a plexi cover on the on the lenses or I mean on the headlights.

I've considered doing it.

It just screws directly into the black portion of the grill.

And there's some kits out there because it, especially for the rallies, you know,

like the 30, like my, my glass, you know, I have Euro H four lenses on there.

They're getting beat up.

So it makes a lot of sense.

It looks good.

I deleted those fog lights and just put the covers, which I think look good.

It kind of clean.

It's a clean look.

If you want to go that route, but because they're just going to get thrashed for sure.

Makes sense.

Yeah.

I have a 36 and so I, I think I told you guys that real quick on the,

the M tech air dam has the, you know, there's unique fog lights.

And I think, you know, that this kit is a replica, just the air dam.

So the fog lights, they provide a really chintzy, like Chinese ones that are like all

clear, like, you know, not, they don't look right.

So I just like, I'm like, you know what, I couldn't get a hold of the E 30 M three

ones, which is what fit in there.

So I just put grip tape over them.

So I put the Chinese ones in there, but so you can't really tell that it's not a

cover, like at first glance and I take a bunch of pictures of it.

No one notices.

It's like really hard to tell.

And yeah.

And it's very rugged too, right?

So I like it.

It's my, my fog light delete.

for a bit and everyone seemed to be enamored by it.

And yeah, it was a good 15 people already getting smashed.

Actually, there wasn't anyone really that smashed was just like, you know,

and it wasn't that busy sat out of the patio like perfect sunny.

But this ended up being almost that and sat on the patio and then walk next door

and got sandwiches at Seabright Deli.

So I just went home.

I was looking at the pictures.

He was on mission going to the show and he was racing a newer BMW three series.

Stoplight to stoplight allegedly like full blast.

And then I will say I've looked around at 240 Volvos.

Not that I'm going to buy one, but just like old Volvos in general.

Volvos and there's just a guy that that was his car and he just kept it going and

it would yeah, that thing will go forever.

Obviously we all know that, but they're cool.

And I think if you were to modify one and make it interesting, it could be

something, but it always feels like with those cars, you're behind the eight ball

so hard.

Like just right off the bat, even even the turbo is just a heavy, heavy car.

I was just going to say, I saw an 850 R wagon.

There's a white one in town, Lane probably knows it too, but it was driving down West

Cliff and I was like, man, that looks good.

With aftermarket parts being questionable these days,

does it make sense to find rebuilders either local or within the

states rather than resort to remand items from overseas,

even if the part is an improvement?

For example, a lighter 911 high torque starter.

I'm getting mine rebuilt at San Jose starter and alternator.

Yeah, I think if you have good rebuilders in your region area and

you have a huge pain in the ass, absolutely.

Like that we used to use that for all alternators all the time.

There's a place in, I think it was just called Oakland,

Oakland alternators or can't remember,

but that was a place that we would send stuff to all the time.

They would actually even come and pick it up and deliver.

And you know, a lot of that stuff,

transmissions and things like that are usually better to go to a

really skilled rebuilder rather than a,

buy a new crappy one or remand.

Cause Lane, you just went through some remand.

I mean, the remand stuff is horrible.

Like I just think that's just, yeah, they're painting over grounds.

They're, they're grinding off parts of it.

Yeah, they're not replacing some parts cause they can't literally

can't get them or they, you know, they can't do it on scale.

Yeah. They're just putting stuff together broken.

They're kind of like forcing stuff together.

probably in Texas or something,

there's a lot of that just industry still going.

So it just depends on where you're at.

by a dude up in the Bay Area.

So it was kind of the same style, you know,

of like a bigger festival that people come to somewhere in

the middle of the U S like they do for autocross and then having

like, uh, a bigger motorsport component would be so rad.

Laguna Sika would be awesome. Yeah.

I mean, we're making baby steps, but definitely that is, you

know, quite frankly, uh, Fidel lighted Fidel lighted is we have

to make a very strong business case because that's the way

it works. Uh, and so we have to prove the model through other

means first by sampling kind of motorsport elements into our

event and then like dedicating to a full scale thing like this

is definitely the dream, but we're, yeah, we're right there

with you. Yes, exactly. And I think it would be really fun.

wild with it. I never think of that stuff like being something I would actually

watched this year's and they changed actually, there's like, I think it's new

for next year. They're going to start having a, um, it's a stock car. So it's

basically like a chassis that then you can put, make it look like a Toyota or

make it look like a Ford, but they're going to start from this, uh, you know,

homologated thing that has all the same jack points and suspension mounts and

roll cage and everything. And then from there, you would like add a motor and

all that stuff. So it's supposed to make the field way more even and affordable.

So I don't know. I just saw an article about it recently and it looked cool.

So they're all going to be the same car though. Well, the chassis kind of lame.

I know. I think it's all about the engineering and stuff and like building

up like, like, and having different, I don't know. Like you think about like

back in the day when it was like Audi versus Lancia and it was just like mid

I think they were having trouble fielding competitive teams and it's just started

takes manufacturers out of it though. Like, well, I think they'll still

Snowy. This is assuming just like a daily

Whatever you're feeling here. Dude, well, I feel really close in my heart

that my wife's car is a fantastic snow car. I've driven

that Cayenne a ton of times in the snow and it is like

cake. It drives really, really well in the snow.

The all-wheel drive system is killer. It has plenty

of traction. It handles well. It has good brakes.

It's literally like cheating driving

that thing in the snow. So if I needed an actual daily

to deal with, that would probably be my choice just because

I think it checks a lot of boxes. I imagine that a Panamero

would probably do a really good job too, but

some connection to it. You'll have that sympathy built in. Some people have more than

if you drive the car hard? That is like you're against.

like compassionate driving.

I would also look at it this way where as a race car driver,

some drivers have very smooth inputs. They're, they're

like on the limit, but their inputs are calculated and smooth and then

many of drivers that are just as fast that are sawing at the wheel and you know,

much more physical. That's the Santa versus Prost thing. So like

that's what like Joe Ramirez, if you read like, you know, Joe Ramirez was the

not the manager, whatever he was at the McLaren team

when they were together. And he talks

about like Santa's cars at the end of the race being completely clapped out.

Like they were just like trash, like unusable and Santa and Prost

car had like another full race on it. Like, you know, and because

of their driving style, right? So like Santa extracted every little ounce out of it

a certain way with the way he drove and like Prost drove extremely smooth

and was very, very, very good at driving that way. But also like some will argue

can produce such a thing but this is interesting. If you look at Ford

ITE at the end, people are selling it on eBay in different

sizes and shapes and colors and it's kind of cool.

I could see this being used in all sorts of stuff.

weird. You'd think this is like, they'd have so much of it, right?

But yeah. And do you think it's still available on

modern factories because

they're so clean now. I don't think they have this like paint that's

build up of paint that isn't getting onto the car.

But it's so much more efficient now. That's key, right? Whereas before it was dripping all over the

when you paint a car, it's not really paints, not really dripping.

So I don't even understand like the only way you could build up something like this is like

it feels like if you have something

and it's on the rack because you're literally painting it. It's not going to be

when you see them paint cars, now they're like suspended and
