G-force

Too Afraid to Ask

Think of how heavy you feel when a car speeds up or slows down quickly. That feeling is called G-force, and it’s how drivers know how hard the car is pushing on them. In racing, big G-forces mean the car is going fast and turning sharply.

Technical Definition

G-force refers to the force of gravity that a vehicle or driver experiences during acceleration, braking, or cornering. It’s measured in multiples of Earth’s gravity (1 g = 9.8 m/s²). In racing, higher G-forces mean the car is pushing harder against the track and tires.
