clearance
Clearance is the space needed between parts so they can move freely. If there's not enough space, parts can get stuck and cause problems.
Clearance refers to the space between moving parts in a mechanical system. In the context of a gearbox, insufficient clearance can lead to parts binding or seizing, causing mechanical failure.
