Too Afraid to Ask

Fuel trim is how the car adjusts the amount of fuel it uses based on how much air is coming in. If it's not set right, the car can use too much or too little fuel.

Technical Definition

Fuel trim refers to the adjustment made by the engine control unit to the amount of fuel injected based on the air-to-fuel ratio detected by the mass airflow sensor. Issues with fuel trim can lead to over-fueling or under-fueling the engine.
